20 Best Markers To Use On Canvas (2023 Updated)

These are pretty bad quality. They do not live up to the promises of being able to paint on multiple surfaces. With porous surfaces, they bleed. With hard surfaces, they go on in blobs, are translucent without several coats and they run.

With hard surfaces, they don’t paint like a marker. It’s a blob of paint that needs to be spread. It comes out thick in some places, thin in others. Most of the time it leaves blobs, that is with out pressing down.

If you try to press down to get more paint to the nib, you get a large blob of paint that is unmanageable. The colors aren’t true without many coats. Even with days of drying and curing time between coats, they pick up the other surrounding colors and bleed into each other.

I used the blue to write an affirmation on a rock, then let it cure for a week. Afterwards I tried to add a fine line (same brand) white marker over the dark. Instead of it looking like I had put white over blue, the colors bled into each other and became a weird purplish blue color.

These are just pretty terrible overall. I will post a picture of a rock that has been sealed, then pour painted. I added the words “You Rock” with the yellow marker. The other colors of paint in the pour background have cured for over a month, yet this marker is translucent on them.

Pay attention to the details of how poor the color looks on the words, as well as the lack of uniformity of color. That’s 3 coats already and it’s still translucent in places, blobby in other places, and ran away from the lines in some places.

I’d be embarrassed to even give the rock away. I wouldn’t recommend these except maybe for kids doing large areas of coloring on paper, canvas, or unsealed wood — and then only if there is no detail required and it doesn’t matter if the paint r I’ve used lots of different brand paint markers to paint on rocks, slate, granite, glass & ceramics.

These rank among the worst of all in quality.

Phenomenal customer service! I purchased a single fine tip paint marker from Walmart and the writing tip was missing. When I contacted Elmer’s they said a replacement would be received in the mail in 15-20 days.

In only 1 week I received a package of 5 assorted colored paint markers, all in perfect condition. They worked perfectly for my craft project. Would definitely buy these again!.

Good value paint markers. I am an RC hobbyist and bought these to “color in” the raised letters on rubber 1:8 scale truck tires. I used green and color went on bright and clean. I haven’t tried the other colors yet but I have no reason to think they’ll act different.

No issues with bleeding or running. I’d buy them again. Works well on rubber and plastics. Each marker was individually wrapped in plastic to help preserve the life and to keep from drying out before use.

Be sure to clean surfaces very well and in my case rubbing alcohol was ideal to get rubber tires clean and dry.

Many online people have recommended these pens. So had to buy and try. This takes a lot of wrist action to get the paint moving in the pen. plus after shaking each pen several times then you must. and really must pounce the pen half a dozen times on paper or cardboard, which cardboard would be the better option, before the paint works well.

maybe its just the batch I received was not functioning as it should be?? I will research much further before buying this product again.

These paint pens are great for detail. I love them. I bought thicker tip pens for filling in big spaces. These are excellent for that fine detail you need or for script lettering. A great variety of colors.

The colors are vibrant and not watered down. Very happy with these pens. Thinking about buying another set.

This brand of paint pens are highly recommended and I use them; however, the box I received was obviously opened by(pens had clear wrapping removed) and several were dried out. Would not order from this source again.

I don’t find these to be anything spectacular and actually the claim of being water based is not true in my experience. They were on my hands and I used the standard brand name antibacterial hand soap and it didn’t come off.

It took 3 washes through my day to finally come off and it permanently adhered to my freshly painted gel polished nails! Not happy. They’re not 2MM but in my experience more like 2. 5MM and I am a professional artist.

Use with gloves for sure is my advice mainly and don’t expect clean lines when using these markers!.

15mm markers have been ruined. the way the lid/top of the marker twists seems to make them more likely to dry out or otherwise break. This size of marker was disappointing. When it worked, the color was pretty good, and the shape of the lines it created were very nice.

The design of the plastic body was a bit junky, which makes me not want to purchase again.

The markers are not full or even half way full. I purchased 23 (twenty three) 2mm markers. they are all filled around the same amount or less. Maybe there is a method to their madness with doing this.

cause the pandemonium outside has been disrespectful to a lot of supplies and they had to spare change the heck out of their inventory?. Regardless, the reviews I’ve seen do not talk about the amount of product that comes in it.

So with that being said, I’m not purchasing them in the future.

The Sharpie oil-based paint markers are my favorite paint markers. They flow nice and smooth and don’t dry out if you don’t use them for a little while (couple of months). I’ve used them on so many different types of surfaces and they’ve worked on all of them.

The colors are bright and opaque. Sometimes, If you don’t shake it well enough, it can come out somewhat transparent, but as long as you make sure to shake good, it’s perfect. You can find these on Amazon sometimes for a lower price too.

I love these and will continue buying them for as long as they keep making them.

These paint markers are good value for the money, however, there are a few issues (I can overlook them due to the price, but are still worth keeping in mind) My main issue is that the different colors have different levels of opacity.

The Blue, for instance, is quite opaque, and covers quite nicely with only one coat. On the other hand, the yellow is very transparent, and required either quite a few coats to be opaque, or required a coat of white under it to really work well.

The other issue is that when you switch the markers to the bullet nibs and close the cap of the marker, the nib gets completely crushed. Even starting the paint flow by pumping the nib a few times destroys the bullet nib.

So after a few minutes, you end up drawing with a nib that is mushroom shaped and inconsistent, rather than a fine-point like you wanted. Like I said though, I am still overall pretty happy with these markers, as they were decent quality for the money, especially compared to posca pens, and were a fun project for us and our nieces for an afternoon.

These pens were a pleasure to use on Halloween items. I purchased signs of all shapes, sizes, and materials from the Dollar Tree. I used the paint pens to paint/repaint everything. The fluorescent markers were a great addition to my supply.

Have used a variety of them since. Very, very pleased! I can paint an ornament in a minute or two-no paint and brushes and preparation and having to let the paint dry before painting the connected portion.

The paint pens dry extremely quickly. This has proven to be a fantastic purchase!.

Pictures show very little paint in Arteza pen barrels and the opacity of same Arteza colors compared to cheaper paint pens and more expensive ones. **These ornaments were done with different pens, not Arteza, unfortunately.

** I LOVE Arteza. They have been my go-to art supplier as my business has grown exponentially this season! I was hoping I’d love these pens as much as I do their gouache, acrylics and a watercolor set I got as a gift.

However, I noticed that not only are they not opaque, there’s barely any actual pigment in the barrel. I was shocked. I had to quickly order several sets of cheap and expensive paint pens (I’d read Arteza pens were great, so once they failed me, I didn’t know what to get).

I had to rush to get my ornaments ready for a Christmas Market. Maybe working on wood with these is the problem, as the wood soaked up the paint, but I had the same problem on paper. There just isn’t any pigment in these markers! I really wanted to love them.

Maybe I got duds.

This is a great quality paint pen, definitely a professional standard product. There’s many useful purposes for these paint pens, some of which might include rock painting art (vivid colors and fine application).

There’s an old saying that you get what you pay for and this product is iconic of such metaphor. It may cost a little more but the professional results certainly demonstrate it’s worth the nominal investment.

The color isn’t as vibrant or opaque as it seems in the packaging — it also leaks if you pump it too much. As an abstract artist, I like it for those flaws but if you’re looking for precise marks, I’d recommend Posca!.

I love these for all my card making finishing touches. I was really impressed with them. I will say, this is not the first item I have bought from Arteza and won’t be the last. It was the first time I was disappointed in their display picture.

It looked like a box that you just remove the little lid and you will see all the colors from top, side, front and back. I thought GREAT, I don’t have to buy another marker display for my desk but when they arrived, it was nothing like the picture.

It didn’t change my mind about the pens at all or any of the products I have gotten from Arteza thus far. They are a class act company but I wrote and told them of my thoughts and they accepted my input and made me a happy Arteza buyer.

I got these for myself and loved them! Watercolor markers are hard to get used to, but I used them every day! One time me and my friends decided to draw a galaxy! THE results were amazing and the watercolor looked great in the abstract piece Though, when I got home the black was completely out of ink! I tried fixing it with a few suggestions my friend who had also bought them gave me but nothing worked Overall, Great but so little ink, I would buy again but not share them with my friends.

PS You should know that using the blending tool a lot, only makes it look Better! I think after a little bit of saving im going to buy the 96 set, so I can have a actual working black again I am a little disappointed but I still live the markets even without the most important marker (black obviously) I think that you should buy this! (Picture below is my black marker after one day).

This is a different kind of watercolor brush, more like true watercolor. Their fluidity is beautiful and the pigment is strong, producing quite vivid colors. The brushes are limper than other brands, which means they’re a bit harder to control and they sometimes split, but that makes them more like real sable watercolor brushes.

You can even make drybrush marks. They contain ink, which is why they’re so vivid. But if you want a paler color and they don’t happen to offer it in your set, you’ll have to get creative, maybe add some water? Other brands I’ve used are more like markers.

These are different for the reasons above. Your project and personal preferences will determine whether they are for you.

I absolutely love these markers! The colors included in the set were perfect for my project. I used them to draw on my husbands PS5 and customize it! The colors were super vibrant and looked amazing together.

There were also super easy to work with. This was my first time ever using them and I was somewhat worried being that often times markers leave odd line textures, but I was able to learn how to use these really fast and got the exact result that I wanted.

I will definitely be buying them again and finding projects to use them with! POSCA has amazing reviews and tons of recommendations from so many artist, and they did not disappoint!.

I’m a beginner in water coloring and doodling. I bought my first uni posca pens white and gold and loving them because of how the ink looks nicely over watercolor and also use it as a coloring pen. The problem I had as a first time uni posca pen user was I didn’t know how to correctly make the pens work when I opened them.

Both colors were not working so I followed the the illustrated instructions on the body of pens but still didn’t work so I decided to go back to Michael’s and exhange them. If someone showed me how to make them work by patiently shaking and gently pressing the tip of pen on paper until the ink comes down on tip of pen I wouldn’t have had to exchange them.

Hope this would help someone. After all the pens are great and Michael’s is awesome!.

Got these during a sale. I tried the black 3m and 1m out on my polymer clay, sculpey. And it works! I tested using already baked clay. First piece, I let it sit overnight with paint on it. Next day, I applied the varnish and it still smeared the black paint.

Second piece, after applying paint, I rebaked in the oven for 10 min. Let it cool down. Then applied varnish. Paint DID NOT SMEAR this time. I even applied the varnish light and heavy. Paint stayed intact.

So the trick is to rebake the clay after painting. I put wax paper under mine just in case (I use tiles for baking).

This is a fun set to play with because it takes the color choice out so you can focus on using different line weights. I have a few colors in various sizes but didn’t have any black, and got to try out some new tips with this set.

Posca markers are great on paper, wood, canvas, and tons of other surfaces. Highly recommended!.

Posca paint markers are the absolute best paint markers I’ve used. I have this versatile set in both white and black and use them often. The paint distributes smoothly with no runs or blobs.

I ended up with all white markers with different tips. The picture shown has different colors. I guess I went by the picture instead of the description so it’s my fault but that picture is deceptive.

I paid over $40 for pens that aren’t what I wanted. I am disgusted and disappointed.

This product is extremely versatile with the fact that it caters to all my grooming needs with the vast amount of attachments that comes with it. Due to me preferring a cleaner shave the most used attachment by far is the standard larger shaving one (typical clipper attachment).

I use this daily to shave my face as its quick and convient to use compared to your typical razer. It cut s through the facial hair nicely and with over a years worth of use I have had only one time when it was low on battery when it pulled.

My second go to attachment is the body shaving one which I use with the skin guard on this works great though when used wet it can miss a few hairs. Which is why I have given a 4 star and not a 5. In terms of charging its fantastic I only need to charge once every 10 days.

Though when I use for my body I may need to charge sooner due to longer usage time. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a convient way to shave both face and body and if you have a beard it would be ideal due to different attachment size as well as the detailer attachment.

With 23 pieces this groomer has more options than I will ever use. In fact, I installed the wider trimmer & the 4mm comb, and I’m done. I just want to use it for my buzz cut. As it turns out, I can use this setting for my beard too.

So, the rest of the pieces are stored-away in the convenient little zipper bag, which comes with the 7000 model. I’ll probably never use them. Using this set-up is just great. I get a great buzz cut and the 4mm length is just perfect for my needs.

I have been using the Philips Norelco Multigroom 7000 electric razor for the past 6 months and have been extremely pleased with the product. The razor feels great in your hands, is easy to use and charge with a great battery life, and doesn’t leave unwanted cuts on your skin.

It also comes with many different trimmers including a nose hair trimmer, close shave trimmer, and various trimmers designed to be used on your head. The razor itself is small and light and can easily be taken with you if you are travelling.

It works great if you are using it to trim your hair, beard, or even nose hairs. However, this razor is not great for a full shave of your face. The trimmer doesn’t cut as close to the skin as you’d like and can make you frustrated if using it for a full shave.

The power button is also quite big and can easily be turned on in your suitcase if you are travelling. I would recommend this razor if you intend to use it to trim your hair or beard. If you are looking for a razor that can give you a full shave of the face, this product is not for you!.

I tried these in both the finest size and one of the thickest, pre-filled with their paint and then a re-usable one with Golden Acrylics high flow paint. Nothing worked. I basically got the equivalent of a dry sharpie near the very end of it’s life on both canvas and paper.

I followed the instructions and no amount of pumping solved this issue–the entire nib was saturated, and still no luck.

I received a Shock Pink marker in a September ’21 box that was repackaged as a sort of “art supply date” for Valentine’s day. I was pretty impressed with it! The marker tip is stiff and the paint flows out well.

Maybe a bit TOO well. I noticed the chamber was close to empty by the time I finished my test drawing, which was a real shame. The nice thing about this item however is there are refills and replacement marker tips available, so you can re-fill and re-use the pens.

I tend to shy away from art supplies that have to be thrown away once the ink runs out, so this to me is a nice feature. The pigment is nice and rich, and water-soluble so you can use it like a regular paint also.

I don’t know if I’d go running for a whole set of these paint markers, but I enjoyed my time with this item.

These aren’t my favorite paint pens, but they are nice to have as a backup. I like their fine tip metallic paint pens. I also like that they are refillable and the nibs are replaceable. I found out about these several years ago through ArtSnacks and bought a few sets.

The paint is so “liquidy” that they run out rather quick compared to most brands. They do bring the color, though!.

Love these paint pens. They are ideal to touch up your after market black wheels (rims) Yes I hit a curb and scratched my rims but with these pens touch up is gr8 Youre the only one who will know ya cant park lol Delivery time took 10 days.

We use these Uni-Paint Markers to mark pallets of product that are housed outdoors. The markings stay put no matter what weather hits them, and the markers work even in the winter!

I purchased several sharpie paint markers but decided to give the Uni one a try because I was looking for a particular color that sharpie didn’t have. The sharpies work as expected and the flow of paint is perfect and predictable.

With the Uni, the paint flow is all over the place and leaves puddles if you’re trying to do any fine work. Stopped using and went with the Sharpie. Would not recommend this brand.

Pen is easy to use once paint in flowing. More pressure = more ink = more mistakes. Artist must understand this item before use but is was perfect for my project.

My company buys these markers for use on PVC and metal well casings. I’ve returned to sites over a year later to find my marks intact even when petroleum products have been smeared all over the marks.

Typical “permanent markers” cannot withstand this type of abuse. Also, these marks have been made on PVC in vaults that have freezing water in them fo 4 months out of the year and again. I find them intact.

Superb Product! I would recommend these for Surveyors, Engineers, Welders, Pipe Fitters, etc.
