20 Best Manual Sweeper For Hardwood Floors (2023 Updated)

I love how perfectly this item picks cat hair out of my carpets! It even grabs cat litter! With its three spinning bristles, this item grabs tons of strings and hair. When it stops being as effective it is time to clean the bristles and empty the trays.

I love that the two trays are connected so the little items can pour out, while both sides can open up so the cat hair comes out. This item works better than my vacuum now that my vacuum’s motor went out and it just grabs things with its bristles.

With all the bristles this item has, it’s much more effective. Plus the blue is a beautiful light teal color with an attractive pattern decorating the edges. This would be a great item for a college student or newly married couple.

Just received my green BISSEL. It was easy to put together and good to go in less than 2 minutes. I have a black shorthair Chihuahua and got the sweeper mostly for his fur shedding. Although I vacuumed 2 days ago the carpets and wood flooring I couldn’t believe how much (mostly) fur the little green sweeper still picked up.

Cleaning the 2 compartments is easy as is cleaning the brushes. I am happy with my “quick picker upper” that comes so handy when you want to do just a quick refresh of your carpets and/or other flooring.

I sure would recommend it to anybody.

I am so very pleased with this sweeper. I have had antique ones for years; and though I loved them too, the brushes were worn from wear so that pickup was not all that good. I decided to replace them and first ordered one of these.

I just can’t believe how well it works, and everywhere! Rugs, carpets, bare floors, even along the edges. It’s lighter than the old ones, and that’s a plus too. A bit smaller as well, another plus as it gets underneath things extremely well and stores in small little places.

Upon receipt of my first one, I immediately ordered the second. YES! I’d recommend this to anyone. Oh, it even picks up hair with ease. With my cats, that’s usually a problem even with expensive vacuums, but not with this little sweeper.

I’m almost embarrassed to say that in my 25 years of life I have never bought a vacuum cleaner. I’ve mostly avoided renting houses with carpet for this exact reason, as the sound of vacuums really annoys me (as does anyone with sensitive hearing).

About 6 months ago I started renting an apartment with carpet in one room, and just as I was about to cave and buy a vacuum, I found this little gadget. The first time I used it on my carpet, I’m not kidding, I had to empty it like three times.

It works so well, I love it! It also works on hard floor, but not as well (it kind of just pushes everything around into a pile). That being said, I mistakenly left it in the care of my boyfriend one evening, and though I was THRILLED that he cleaned the house while I was away, one of the threading on the handle attachments snapped off while he was using it.

Thankfully I was able to rig it back in a way that it is still completely functional, however if it snaps again it’ll need a new handle entirely. That definitely won’t stop me from recommending this product as it’s quiet, functional, and I still don’t have to buy a vacuum cleaner.

I was skeptical about how well this would work, but it works better than I could have imagined! I have 4 dogs that shed a ton and we have killed several regular vacuum cleaners. I love to use this manual sweeper to clean my carpet before using the regular vacuum.

My Alpine sweeper gets up SO MUCH STUFF. I found that it works best on carpet. It even picks up the tiny seeds my birds throw on the carpet! It gets up fur, feathers, seeds, lint, and so much more. It also fluffs up the carpet so it looks better and fuller.

I really love this thing, it’s amazing!.

The Dual Action sweeper is fantastic on tile, not so much on carpet. Low pile carpet will be fine. Did a kitty litter test and on tile, the first pass got everything up. For the money though, I think I’d rather have invested in a Fuller.

With Fuller you get a smaller cleaning area but this is why they are so good ironically. Although the Dual Action sweeper does a good job, it just doesn’t say “quality” to me. The rubber wheels that engage the brushes when pushed back and forth seem a bit cheap and appear as though they will wear quickly.

The Dual Action works well both forward and backward equally. The front brush is thicker than the back although this hasn’t seem to make a difference in results. The nylon(?) bristles are lightweight (more so than I would’ve thought) and I would imagine, within due time, they would fray.

I will update this review (posted on 01/23/2019) if and when that were to ever happen. The handle is broken down into 4 threaded pieces, which screw on together. I have noticed this is cause for the handle coming loose at times and need of re-tightening.

Don’t tighten those down to tight as it seems possible the threads will strip. Four stars, it’s good if you need something a bit bigger than most. If you want a quality sweeper that will last a long time, get a Fuller.

We spent a good deal of time and a couple of days deciding which of the many sweepers available to try out. Although we have only one area rug in our living room and two small area rugs in our bedroom, we use this sweeper very effectively on those, on our laminate flooring and picking up cat litter by the cat’s box on our bathroom tile.

This sweeper has two nice big compartments and I emptied them twice in one go-round in our apartment. The photo shows all the cat hair, leavings from her scratching post and other small particles from our carpets.

It works so-so on cat litter, but better than nothing. It fits under most furniture and under the bed and has a nice long reach there (adjustable). The only thing I had to do was unravel hairs from around the sweeper brush that were remainders of 3 uses.

On laminate and tile you sometimes have to lift and place the sweeper on top of dust bunnies to get it to pull them up, the corner brushes capture some things but do not throw them into the capture bin so those sometimes need to be foot directed toward the bin.

This sweeper does not catch on the carpet weave. It is heavy enough to not flip around in use, but light enough to handle and accomplish what you want to do without having to pull out and set up a vacuum cleaner.

For all these reasons we found that this is a great little product and we would buy it again if necessary.

I have always seen employees at restaurants using these sweepers to tidy up in between diners and at the end of theie shifts. I never thought they were relly doing anything, but wow, was I wrong!! This sweeper is fantastic! It picks up EVERYTHING; it’s lightweight and perfect for when you just do not want to haul out the big boy vacuum.

It’s great for letting younger kids begin to help out with chores, also. So, great. I bought two: One for the office and one for home!.

I bought this because I got mad! I’m so sick of spending $100 on an electric vacuum cleaner that gets clogged and stops working every 6 months. You can’t take them apart to fix because they have special screws.

Decided to buy thus mechanical one. Rubbermaid has always had a reputation for quality items. This is no exception. It’s rated as commercial which is even better. It cleans better than my old electric vac.

I can tuck this in the corner and grab it for a quick cleanup. It adapts well from carpeted to hardwood flooring with no manual adjustment. We have two long haired people in the house plus two shedding old cats.

It picked up the hair great. Was surprised at how much it picked up that the vac missed. Don’t hesitate to buy it. You won’t be sorry. Super quiet too if you like to clean while others are sleeping. No running for a broom and dustpan.

No bending. Empty the tray in the garbage can at waist level. No filters to replace. Most of the maintenance is getting hairs out of the brush. They provide a special comb for that.

This just is not a good carpet sweeper. The first issue within a month of using, it unscrews easily while in use where it screws into itself on the stem and particularly the handle. We tried duct tape, that didn’t work.

Now it just looks a little ragged. When this picks up hair, it is really difficult to clean completely and it makes it even more difficult to push and clean the floor. We are not happy, and it’s turned into a frustrating work for my kid.

My husband actually just uses it because she can’t at this point. It doesn’t roll in a manner where it’s achievable for her to use it. Too hard to push, comes apart easily, just doesn’t feel like a quality piece of equipment and does not help build a sense of accomplishment bc a child can’t even use this after a few months.

I actually held off on writing this review bc I was thinking it just needed a quality cleaning inside but even that is far too difficult.

Montessori products aren’t just for kids! Last year I bought this for my daughter and her children for Christmas. It was on her wish list. My 90 year old mother liked it, so I bought one for her 91st birthday.

She said, “I love my new carpet sweeper. It works great!” And that’s an incredible compliment from a woman who we lovingly tease as a “clean freak” and who still maintains her home, but doesn’t always like to haul out the big heavy vacuum cleaner.

This is a great tool for young and old, at a great price.

This was meant for me, an adult, not for a child. I wanted a small light carpet sweeper to use when I just had a little surface dirt to pick up, crumbs under the table, some little pieces of paper. It was bulky to get out the large regular carpet sweeper for things like this.

This small carpet sweeper works just as well as a large one and it’s easier to go under the dining room table or under chairs. I was surprised and pleased that it came with its own “comb” to clean the bristles, which was something I needed for the large one as well.

With all three sections screwed together the handle is fine for me even though I’m on the tall side. The only problem I had was that the three sections of the handle didn’t screw together very easily, they were tight, and needed some pressure to get it all together.

I suppose this is a plus if children will be using it, they wouldn’t be able to unscrew them, it needed some muscle power to put it all together. Other than that I’m very pleased with it.

I’ve had my Natural sweeper for many years now. It’s wonderful! No cords to mess with, so it’s perfect for picking up crumbs or stray popcorn after a late night movie. I have never had a problem with the collection bins being too small or overflowing.

I just empty after each use, no big deal. The only complaint I have is hair wrap on the brushes. I have long hair, but on the plus side it picks up hair even on carpeting. Also, I have never had the handle fall off, ever.

I put the sweeper together myself, and I have painful psoriatic arthritis in my hands. It’s very easy to put together. I use this sweeper on carpeting, hard floor and on wood floors.

I use this sweeper nearly every night as a last minute clean up to be sure no crumbs are left in the carpet after TV snacking. I had one previously and gave it away when I moved. I used it to clean up the seeds and pellets my macaw was always dropping on the carpet.

It was also good in helping pick up the hair from my dog. I like that it folds nearly flat. It’s easy to store in the closet. While it won’t replace a vacuum cleaner it’s definitely good for quick everyday cleanups.

Kudos to Canada Post for getting an unsealed box from Brampton to my doorstep with nothing missing. Be warned – the machining of the threaded parts is very sloppy and unpredictable. Sections of the handle were extremely difficult to connect.

After repeated trials we managed to connect all but one of the handle sections but there was one which could not be mated with any of the others. Nothing seemed to work – not brute force, not WD40 or any other lubricant so we put it all to one side to be returned the next day.

But I’m a determined person and decided to try again. Noticing that the inside threads were very rough I looked around for some tool that would fit inside. And there it was – the emery board I use for smoothing my fingernails.

And it worked!.

As a person who suffers from depression and low mobility, I don’t always want to go through the trouble of getting out a vacuum. THIS helps a great deal. All I have to do is grab it and go! It keeps my floor cleaner and it gives me exercise without wearing me out.

I build model cars so I’m constantly leaving pieces of plastic and little screws on the floor. This little dude picks most of that up. Also great for pet owners. My parents got theres to pick up sticks their dog leaves behind.

I was so impressed with how big the sticks were that it picks up that I bought my own! It’s quiet, effective, and gives you a little exercise pulling it effortlessly back and fourth. Gives you steps on your Fitbit.

Easy to dump out, folds up and even disassembles easyly for storage and travel.

This Bissell appliance may be good for a carpets or rug, but it’s definitely not good on hard floors. I really wanted to like this sweeper, too, especially because I cannot do broom sweeping because of my allergies, and can’t run a vacuum for that reason either, so I thought this sweeper would be the ideal solution.

This sweeper, however, doesn’t pick up anything at all on hard surfaces. I guess it’s back to the drawing board for me.

This was a huge waste of money. It hasn’t worked well since I got it, as everytime you pick it up to move it (or to store it), debris falls outs. When you roll it, debris comes out between the pan and the brush.

Tonight, the brush fell out while I was sweeping, getting kitty litter all over my kitchen floor. Emptying it is a pain, as it has to be done individually on each side, but because it’s all one compartment, debris falls out the other side and gets everywhere.

Only use this if you plan to vacuum immediately afterward to clean up the mess this makes. I bought this to use in between vacuuming days, but this made everything so much worse. When I fold it up to store it, everytime the handle pops off, causing the pan to fall and debris to go everwhere.

Unfortunately I can’t return it because I don’t have the box and the return window expired, so it’s going in the trash and I’m out 25 bucks. I expected so much more from Bissell.

I absolutely LOVE my BISSELL Easy Sweep Compact Manual Carpet Sweeper. It was easy to assemble the handle by screwing the pieces together and attaching to the base. I find it convenient to use as it cleans my low nap carpet, throw rugs, and laminate flooring very well and emptying the base is simple when you just press the bottom panels on the marked areas and dump out dust and debris.

The roller bar pops out easily for cleaning and then you pop it back into the base. Easy-peasy! Besides its cleaning ability, I LOVE that it does not require electricity so it is environmentally friendly and helps us consume less energy while cleaning our flooring.

It does not work as expected; the handle connects to sweeper in the most ‘primitive’ way. There are slots on body of the sweeper that are suppose to hold it in place when you sweep that don’t work properly when you push-pull on rugs, i.

e. it flips up on the ‘backstroke’ thus it only sweeps on the front stroke. Plus handle pipe connecting sweeper to handle is too short with no adjustment capability. And, it doesn’t pickup very well even on the front stroke! Certainly nothing even close to the manual push sweeper of the past.

But, what can you expect for $20 bucks. a lot more from a name like ‘Bissell’ in a sweeper. Ken Bee.

Handle is too short, if you are over 5′ tall, you’ll end up having a back ache when you’re done vacuuming. The cleaner itself is useless. Will hardly pick up anything on the carpet. I went over a piece of fuzz three times before having to pick up by hand.

Guess we get what we pay for. Plan to return for something that works!.

You will be pleased to own this carefully designed sweeper. I owned a cleaning business. This sweeper will last a long time if used as intended. Keep it near your cat litter box if possible. Avoid stress on vacuum belts when you do throw rugs or mats by sweeping on the diagonal, avoiding corners.

You dont want the rug caught in the roller bar. DIAGONAL. Use it near litter box, sewing room, and best on low nap carpet. You can swipe over the beater brushes with a damp cloth to clean the bristles.

Do pull or cut off threads and hair wrapped around roller. Your sweeper lays flat, so you can hide it behind the couch while it charges! READ THE MANUEL. You’ll have this great helper for a long time.

We purchased this item to be used in an academic library at a large university. The public areas are high traffic, so there are usually crumbs and small pieces of paper, staples, etc. to be found just about everywhere.

Our janitorial services are only able to vacuum the building once per week (possibly less) so we hoped this item would help keep things tidy between custodial visits. Our old building also has areas that don’t have electrical outlets, so it’s convenient not to need a long extension cord to clean up the floors.

So far this little sweeper has been magnificent. It has picked up everything from hole-punch paper dots and staples to a whole almond and some crushed up crackers. A huge plus (and the main reason we chose this sweeper over others) was that the rollers are removable and washable, and they don’t have any of those little bristles for hair/strings to tangle around.

Since it will see heavy use, we didn’t want to be constantly untangling stuff from bristles. Our only minor complaint is that it makes a bit of a loud squeeky/clicky noise as you roll it along the floor, but as I said, I work at a library, so I may be a bit picky about the noise.

It is only noticeable for us because we have several “quiet” areas. Otherwise, no complaints!.

I’ve been wanting to buy a carpet sweeper for years. I noticed that this one went on sale, at Wayfair, and because it got great reviews, and was so inexpensive, I purchased one. It was so easy to set up and assemble; and it does seem to pick up everything, with its rubber bristles, on carpets and on floors.

I am very happy with this small, easy-to-use sweeper. I do feel that the handle could be a bit longer and wider. I feel the handle is just a tiny bit flimsy. But so far I have only had success with it and no troubles at all.

Also, a nice feature is that you can pull the plastic/rubber rollers off for easy cleaning. Also, it’s easy to tuck it away in a small closet—doesn’t take up a lot of room. The sweeper is about the size of one pair of adult shoes.

Happy with my purchase.

This sweeper is very convenient for me. I have hardwood floors on the main level of our home, two kids and two long haired cats. There is a lot of debris on the floor every single day and I was tired of using a broom and dust pan but my vacuum would just seem to kick the stuff around.

So I bought this sweeper. It works great and is so simple and lightweight to use that even my children can help me clean the floors. My two complaints are that it can’t get into the edges so the debris in the corners are still left behind and that some times it will drop some things that I thought that it picked up.

Still, I am happy.

This is my second pair of elbow sleeves from Strength Shop. I had the original inferno red elbow sleeves. I used them so much the seems wore out. These are not as stiff as the orginals but I still love them.

The only thing I wish they could improve on would the longevity of their sleeves. However for the price their sleeves are awesome. I actually just ordered another pair of knee sleeves lol. Overall, I love all of their products.

I have their 13mm single prong belt and their sleeves. I would put their sleeves against mark bells sleeves and I choose Strength Shop! Keep up the great work guys!.

Great quality sleeve so far. My elbows measured about 11.5 in. around, so I went with the mediums. Very snug at first, almost too tight. Its been about 3 weeks now and I love them. Would recommend.

Look no longer. After 30 years of one brand of carpet sweeper, I never suspected to find another good one. Well, this Rubbermaid Carpet Sweeper was perfect. The handle mounting on the unit secure and tight.

The under side had the same compartments that open for dropping out the dirt. The brush was great, etc. But, the proof was in the pick-up, boy was I surprised. A lot of cleanup with no complaints. Thank you Rubbermaid for caring about your products.

I bought this item to remove cat hair and kitty litter off my carpet and it works great. I was worried based on some reviews here that said the handle wouldn’t attach, or that all the hair would just get stuck in the brush or get balled up on the carpet, but I had no problems.

I did have to use a little elbow grease when I first attached the handle but that’s it. This product is just what I needed for my cat who gets so scared when I use my electric vacuum. Now I can quickly clean the carpet and everyone is calm and happy.

The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because it’s not what I’d call quality workmanship, but it sure did the job. Others have mentioned it didn’t do great on hard floors. I agree but I have a broom and a dust mop for that.

Rubbermaid Executive Series Single-Action Sweeper, Black (FG421288BLA) do not picks up the dirt. So you need to sweep over and over . Doesn’t clean corners and curves of the floor or carpet.

This is the best little sweeper for any type floor or rug. I have no carpet in my home but this would clean carpet because it works great on flat, plush and medium shag rugs. I still vacuum about once a month for deep suction cleaning, but this sweeper keeps all the little specks and cat hair off the surface if my black rugs and bare wood/tile floors.

I bought one for each house level and its so quick and easy to keep everything looking spotless. This is much like what restaurants use to tidy up between seatings prior to using the commercial vac after closing.

I highly recommend this sweeper for quick thorough in-between vacuum pick-ups! Love it!.

I had two rechargeable swivel sweepers but the batteries “Pooped” out in no time. The sweepers were then totally useless and new batteries cost almost as much as the whole sweeper. This carpet sweeper is wonderful.

Just push it over carpeting and rugs and it picks up everything. Easy to clean debris out of the holders. Doesn’t take a lot of muscle. Sturdy with a wide sweep area. No more frustration of trying to charge batteries.

It’s a great product at a terrific price.

Awesome Sauce! Yes, this wonderful little non electric carpet sweeper works great on my low pile carpeting, and runners, and the regular linoleum floors. It picks up everything in its path, is a gem to clean, and a very neat fold up sweeper that is easy to store.

There are several issues at stake here. Firstly, the sweeper offers two separate levels of height to clean different flooring, but there seems to be a problem as I can detect no change in adapting from one to the other.

Secondly, I am so terribly disappointed at not being able to remove the rotating brush for cleaning; this is important as I can’t remove some hair caught up at one end, resulting in limitation of the motion of my sweeper.

I am still using my old Ewbank after 30 years – yeah, I took care of it -perfectly easy to take out the inner brush and give the item a complete cleanup when needed. All I needed was new rubbers on the old wheels, which you cannot get hold of now! What on earth is going on at Ewbank? I had no hesitation in ordering my Evo 3 and am sorely disappointed.

It will be returned.

The best thing about this product is that it makes no noise like a normal vacuum cleaner. I have an electric cordless, but this is good for late nights for those spills, crumbs etc. It is lightweight, easy to empty, very practical and for the price good value for money.

This is. a must but as a back up have the option of an electrical vacuum cleaner. This product comes highly recommended.

This review is for the ewbank evolution 3 manual carpet sweeper which I bought as we have just installed solar panels and do not want to be running a 1 or 2 kW hoover. To further complicate things we have a new burgundy carpet and a Jack Russell with very stubborn has that hooked themselves into the carpet threads and are notoriously difficult to get out.

I have to admit I was a bit sceptical about how well a manual carpet sweeper would work but I can assure you that this sweeper is truly awesome and it picks up way more dog hairs and other debris from the carpet than the Panasonic hoover.

I don’t think our carpets have ever been so clean and in addition to all this it is extremely light and easy to operate and it is lovely not having to log a heavy electric hoover around and be inconvenienced by the electric wire and the loud noise.

I all in all this is one of the best buys I have ever made and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone over an electric hoover.

I love this sweeper because it picks up well and easy to clean. Hair sometimes gets wounded around the axels but the rollers snap out so you can remove the hair balls and snap the rollers back in. The only thing I don’t like is after about 3 years the rubber blades dry out and begin to split, then crack and crumble.

They dont sell replacement rollers. The sweeper is pretty durable except the rollers dont last as long as I would like. I would hate to throw the whole thing away when all I need is new rollers.

I use it every day and it keeps my carpets really clean and dust free; it picks up every crumb and every leaf and other things my dog treads into the house. I only need to bring out the big vacuum cleaner once a week! And it’s very easy to use – I don’t need to use any pressure, just run it over the carpet, it picks up the dust and dirt first time.

It’s also easy to empty – just press on the corners of the dust flaps and the dust is compressed into the space, ready to empty with no mess. The only drawback is that dog hairs tend to collect around the rollers and have to be picked out by hand.

EWBANK CARPET SWEEPER. I have pale coloured carpets and two dogs constantly running in and out to the garden! This little cleaner is ideal for picking up bits instantly when I don’t do vacuuming. A godsend!.

I am so pleased with the Ewbank it is nice & light to use & picks up dust and bits really well ,Saves me having to use the heavy ( to me) vacuum cleaner so often. I can quickly run the Ewbank over instead, Plus no running costs involved.

This is a commercial product that is well made and actually works to save time and energy! Does not deep clean, but does an outstanding job picking up surface items. This equipment is engineered with simple physics with quality materials and build.

I needed a new carpet sweeper for Crumb patrol at the welcome center at our church. The old Fuller brush sweeper finally seen the last day of use. After much searching and price comparison, I decided on the Rubbermaid model.

It seems to help give me the best bang for my buck. Rubbermaid, its a well-known household product these days.

The sweeper head works great. Almost better than my vacuum cleaner. However, the handle is less than adequate. The four piece construction does not stay together. I used the sweeper a few times after it arrived and the handle has come apart every time.

If you pick up the sweeper by the handle to move it, the handle comes apart. If not for the handle I would have given it five stars. Order process for WEBstaurant was excellent. I placed my order on Friday and received it on Wednesday.

I have mostly hardwood and rugs. This does not work so good on flat surfaces like other sweepers. The wheels are spring loaded so it is very good for thicker carpet. The springs on the bottom wheels are great when you push on carpets that provide a little resistance.

Threading on the rod gave me a little trouble when assembling the handle which comes in 4 or 5 pieces if I recall correctly. I keep this upstairs now where I have mostly carpet.

It doesn’t appear to be commercial grade. It really doesn’t pick up very well. It is sometimes scrapes when using on hard floors and rattles a whole lot.

I’d just had a double hernia surgery and didn’t want to push a heavy vacuum around. We still use it for quick cleanups, to clear an area to exercise, around the cat bowl or after a snack. It picks up everything.
