20 Best Makeup Brands For Black Skin (2023 Updated)

I just received this foundation as I purchased during the day of beauty event. I use a lot of different foundations from Dior to the Ordinary and some Korean BB creams. I have Lupus and have had dry skin with flares of butterfly rash that need covering for years.

However, I broke out in the most terrible bout of acne since I was a teen (in 40’s now!). I have been needing more and more coverup and I hate having to pack layers on then use a concealer. I have hot flashes and live in a hot climate.

It’s kinda yick. I remember hearing dermablend is a good option for covering acne. I opened the package as soon as it came and tried the smallest drop on the acne over my non-spf matte base/primer. It covers beautifully with just one layer! I bet I can use it as concealer as well.

It is much lighter consistency then I had thought it would be (I was thinking it would be heavy and more like the Clinique concealer/ foundation in one). I am extremely pale as lupus and sunlight don’t mix.

This is first time in ages I am not a company’s lightest colour! (I am next to lightest! Huzzah!) I recommend trying this foundation. Now I just need to see how it works with my sunscreen base next. Right now, I don’t even need to powder set and hope that will hold true for all applications regardless of base/primer type.

For buying a new foundation on-line, the 37N turned out great for my neutral medium skin tone. Just a tad light, but going into winter and my mineral powder provides enough color on top. I read the directions on-line before purchasing since this is a blendable formula you must mix each time and express any product from the applicator to get fresh product.

Had some difficulty at first as it seemed product was stuck in the squeeze dropper so nothing was going into it or coming out. I was able to free up the product finally to apply. Excellent coverage that DOES NOT oxidize or fade after application.

I had melasma and acne scars so coverage that doesn’t fade is important. IT foundation fades after application 😐 I had this on all day without primer or setting spray just some mineral powder. Excellent staying power even after touching my face!! I have used the dermablend coverage cream foundation before but for day to day use it feels heavy and looks a little too make-upy.

I like this Creator formula better as you can dictate your coverage level you want – light, medium, full.

26yr Female here combination skin. in search of natural full coverage. I’ve waited until I got to experiment a bit before I wrote this. I’ll share all I know. first off, my bottle broke. I was able to save quite a bit of it.

The dropper is trash, don’t even bother. A little goes a long way. By itself it looks very natural and covers surprisingly well. I put coconut oil on my dry spots and put 4-5 small dots around my face and it spreads like butter.

I don’t use a sponge, a thicker foundation brush blends well. but this alone doea not last long. Here is how I use it: I use lock it boundation(best full coverage I’ve found that looks good) I use this just on my cheeks where I have acne scars and redness.

Then I put the dermablend on the same areas and the rest of my face to blend. always use a setting powder. I have gotten so many compliments on my face, and because a little goes a long way, this will last me a long time.

worth the money even if you have to use with another foundation. My favorite part is, I’d I use coconut oil on my wrinkles, the dermablend doesn’t sink in and make them stand out more like most foundations.

Definitely one of my favorite products. Just have to learn how to use it.

So, influenster wouldn’t let me choose the correct shade to review. But anyway, I really wanted to love this foundation!!! And I do really love the formula, the natural skin finish, etc. BUT it oxidizes soooo bad.

Not only that, but I’ve only been able to find it online. And even if it were in store I’d still have this issue. It is so hard to even find your correct shade in the first place unless you have a store with testers, which I don’t.

Anyway, Loreal has no description for each shade which would make it a lot easier to find your shade if they did! You only know what is gold vs pink because of some of the names of the shades. Can’t figure out which are neutral, unless it’s the ones that say natural in the shade name.

Either way, it’s super hard to find a shade due to the lack of descriptions, but also because, once again, the foundation oxidizes like crazy! It’s unfortunate because this could’ve and would’ve been a wonderful foundation if not for those 2 inconveniences.

😞 I may keep trying to find a shade match but I’m not sure. I did give the 2 stars based solely on the formula of the foundation.

First, I usually prefer foundation products that are light coverage with a dewy finish. So I assumed I’d like this from the description, but my skin can be sensitive so I wasn’t sure if the added fragrance and spf would work for my skin.

Happily, this product agrees with my skin and my preferences! I usually dot this over my face lightly, then blend out with a beauty sponge. I get light coverage that way, but can easily build up coverage in areas that may need a bit more.

I’ve never had it look cakey, or heavy in any way. Looks very skin like and lasts through my work day fairly well, with any fading doing so gracefully. I have no issues with this creasing into fine lines or emphasizing texture.

This is a really good everyday foundation that looks lovely.

I bought this foundation on a whim and I absolutely love it. It makes my dry/combination skin look fresh and dewy. The first time I used it, I was surprised by the compliments I received. The reason I generally steer away from moisture-rich foundations is because they tend to get on my hands when I touch my face.

Then, I touch my steering wheel or a piece of paper and there’s foundation colored finger prints 😩. I have not had any issue with this foundation. The only concern I have is that I like a bit lower SPF.

This is SPF 50, and I literally do not get even the slightest bit of color after being in the sun. I understand that it is better for my skin, but sometimes I like to get a bit of a natural glow. With that being said, I’ll keep buying this regardless of the SPF.

My biggest fear is that they’ll discontinue it, as it can already be difficult to find in stores.

I initially bought this to use after my face routine on days that I wanted more coverage and I liked that it offered light-full coverage and sun protection. Overall I really love this product and would buy it again as it covers blemishes well and evens out my skin tone.

My only gripe is that it is very hard to apply (even when following directions) because it dries quickly. To remedy this I’ve just been adding a drop to my moisturizer and making a DIY tinted moisturizer.

This has been working wonderfully and I like that I have more control over the coverage this way, but it was not the intended use and the product should definitely be easier to apply using the directions.

Super Creamy. Light weight, actually the lightest weight product I’ve ever tried. It was so gentle and felt like air. I couldn’t believe how great it felt. It appears to cover and blend extremely well.

A highly professional product. Though I hadn’t tested it in photos yet, it has a “makeup forever’ type of professional finish. appearing photo ready. Really high quality. I have very sensitive skin and generally use a mineral foundation with a high SPF, but this was an awesome change from the brand I previously used.

Yes. Took me a min to figure out the color combo/ I’ll take this shade with the sunset for olive skin. I can make it light for winter and deeper should I take in sun. A+ for coverage. A+ for things I don’t think about that it checks the box for.

Weightless. No scent. Matte (psst but if you mix with moisture you can have dewy). Tiny. And the tip of tube is ideal. I’m not wasting product. Like. At all. Mic drop.

I have extremely oily skin especially on my forehead and nose. This foundation has no problem staying on throughout the whole day, even if I accidentally sleep with it on, it’s still pretty well on my face.

Despite it being a cream, I have never gotten any clogged pores or breakouts. I’ve been using it for about a year now and I haven’t used a different foundation since. It’s an amazing coverage. I wouldn’t say it’s completely full but it’s definitely enough to the point where you could skip concealer for your under eyes with this.

Light 1 is the shade I use because i’m a bit more pale and it’s absolutely stunning. Every drugstore or beauty store foundation has been too dark or orange/pink tinted while this just matches my skin so well!! Since i’m more oily I use a translucent setting powder to make a bit more matte and to have that extra stick onto my face but honestly it’s completely optional because it stays on amazingly well even without any setting spray, powder, or primer beforehand.

I was disappointed with this foundation. This product is a cream foundation that has buildable coverage. It has a natural satin finish. This foundation is oil free and it did not make my skin oily throughout the day.

This foundation can be applied sheerly or built up to full coverage. I applied this product with a sponge and a brush. I found that the brush application built coverage easily and it blended this foundation more easily than a sponge.

The sponge application achieved lighter coverage. I found that this foundation sat on top of my skin despite buffing and blending it well. It never looked like it blended into the skin. It had a very cakey finish.

This foundation was very apparent on my skin, regardless of the application technique used. It also had an obvious texture that was visible on the skin regardless of the amount used. It looked thick on the skin, even when applied lightly.

I prefer foundations that have a skin-like finish, and unfortunately this foundation did not appear skin-like. I tried using numerous primers and skincare products under this foundation, but it appeared the same regardless of the primers used.

I tried setting this foundation with numerous different powders to see if that improved the finish, and I found that using a powder with blurring properties helped, but it did not create a finish that I find acceptable.

I am going to try using this product as a concealer. I am also going to try mixing it with other foundations to see if there is a way I can use this product. I have many other foundations that I prefer over this product.

Unfortunately, it is not a foundation that I like or recommend.

this stuff is lovely! as a rule, i don’t wear coverage makeup (foundation, concealer, the like) unless i’m in some kinda costume (whether that be drag or halloween), but i rather expect this would work wonderfully on a day-to-day basis as well.

a single layer looks wonderfully skin-like, but still packs a punch in terms of coverage. when i’ve tried to add more, it tends to start clumping and streaking, but take that with a grain of salt, as i’ve not spent much time playing with the product and finding out what works best for it.

speaking of which, you’re gonna want to set this with a spray, not a powder- the latter makes it clumpy as hell. if you don’t set it, it will transfer all over the place, so be warned! for the record, i have sensitive combo acne-prone skin that flakes like nothing else, not helped by my excoriation disorder.

I’d heard so much about the Mehron clebre foundations and always wanted to try them. I’d searched all over the web and being in Canada was difficult to find these without a huge shipping fee. Then I saw a video recommending Camera Ready Cosmetics and immediately went to the site.

I found everything I was looking for and a reasonable shipping fee! This foundation lives up to its claims. I’m 54 yrs old with normal/ oily t zone with dry patches on cheeks. This foundation is just beautiful.

It ends out like a dream, high coverage, not drying at all and leaves a gorgeous subtle glow. I tried it with a brush- beautiful. Tried it with my fingers- beautiful. Tried it with a sponge-PERFECTION.

It is extremely buildable and doesn’t look cakey when you layer it. I set it with Ben Nye powder and it stayed all day, 10 hrs. I live in a cold dry climate so I can’t say how it will hold up it humid hot weather but if you set it I think it will be fine.

I purchased 3 shades and shade 2 medium is my perfect match. I use this shade mixed with shade 1 medium for under my eyes and it’s just so pretty and use this shade alone for a subtle highlight in the centre of forehead and down the nose.

I’m so happy with these products I’ll never go back to regular foundations. I’ve paid up to 80$ for liquid foundations and none of them hold a candle to this. I’m a NC 20 in Mac and 4 in Charlotte Tilbury flawless foundation and medium 2 here is my perfect match.

The rest of my makeup layered beautifully over it, bronzer, blush and used a final spritz of morphe continuous setting spray and my skin has honestly never looked better. I have very large pores and used my professional to prime and this foundation went on top absolutely stunning.

I can’t say enough good things about it. The shade range is the best I’ve seen when it comes to undertones and you will find a perfect match. This is now my holy grail and for the price I feel like I’m stealing the product! If you have a lot to cover, redness, broken capillaries, pigmentation, mature skin, then look no further.

I know my search is finally over for my holy grail!.

Takeaways: Great Foundation that needs to be set, if you are an oily person who doesn’t like to powder I wouldn’t go for this. Quick note, I wish the shades were in order on Ulta’s site. Black Opal’s foundation stick range has several undertones for different hues (thank GOD, because you really don’t see range like this often) but it’s difficult to see that gradient here.

For instance, Toasted Chestnut and Carob are very similar, (I can wear both but toasted chestnut is more olive and carob is a touch deeper and more golden- I wear fenty 445, fashion fair suede silk, for reference) The formula itself is beautiful.

The stick glides and gives a super natural finish with a little bit of product. However, out of the different Black Opal foundations, this one does get oily. I do powder it when I wear it and take a powder with me to make sure I can touch up.

It’s also a great multi-tasker as I used to use it as a contour/bronzer (depending on the shade).

Honestly some of these reviews have nothing to do with the product itself and seems that people are mad about an inclusive brand. ? lol. This became my go-to. It’s such an easy application and blends smoothly.

My skin can be dry or oily so I think how the product looks and sets can depend on how you prep your skin before. I use it as foundation, haven’t used this as a bronzer. I use it for a light coverage so not sure how it would look if you use it differently.

I have tried FOUR different stick foundation shades now. Very frustrating! According to the virtual try on, any of the shades I purchased should’ve worked. I tried different pics in different lighting, but got the same results after actually putting them on.

The shades are only slightly – VERY slightly- different, so if you’re needing to go up/down a shade jump like 3+ pictures over from the one you have. I really wanted this to work because my skin is very oily and this applies very matte.

Of course since I tried them all on, I can’t return any of them.

This product use to be my go to for my combination skin. It can get a little oily as the day goes on so I’d recommend for dry skin specifically unless you use a mattifying primer if you have oily skin.

I was using the shade nutmeg which runs a little orange. The next shade up is Truly topaz which is slightly too yellow but I can make it work. Of course the shade range could be a little better but this is a minority based makeup line and reviews should be given based on the product itself and not personal opinions.

RATE THE PRODUCT ITSELF. If you cant find your shade look elsewhere you wouldn’t be the first nor will be the last to have to do so. We’ve ALL experienced that with makeup buying at some point and time not every brand is going to have your specific shade.

Inclusivity is important but it still doesnt happen all the time with various companies so why leave a negative review based soley on your personal OPINIONS.

I use this foundation stick in ebony brown as a contour shade and lovvvee it! It’s creamy and lasts a while. For the people writing negative reviews because you can’t find your lighter shade, there are MANY companies that cater to lighter shades and the reason for black owned companies such as this one is because for years it was impossible to find darker shades in other brands.

Instead of complaining, many darker skin users have to mix 2-4 shades to get our match and this is the reason for companies like Black Opal that cater to darker skin. For many years, no one catered to our skin.

If you didn’t complain about bigger brands not having darker shades, please don’t complain about smaller companies not having your shade. That’s not a reason to leave a negative review on a great product.

Black Radiance has been around for over 20 years. The line was originally developed for women of color. Over the years the brand has evolved for many complexions. I have used black radiance for years.

I usually use the brand’s lipsticks,glosses, and blushes. I decided to purchase the foundation to see if the coverage was just as good as my other foundations. The foundation gives medium to full coverage.

The applicator is a spatula type. I would not advise using this. The best way in my opinion, is to use a foundation brush or sponge. I wore the shade Amber for 6 hours and used a translucent powder. It held up very well.

The downside is that the foundation had so much orange in it that I could not tone it down. At the fourth hour of wearing this product the oxidation was apparent. The price is very affordable at $2. 99-3.

99 depending on your region. I purchased mine for $1. 99 (reg $2. 99) with a $1. 00 coupon. I am going to try other shades to see If I can find a better match. If you are on a budget, this may work for you.

Not only, with some strange bonus of the Universe, did I actually pick my perfect tone match from the screen (! never happens, amirite?), but this liquid foundation covers looooovely. I’m not enough of a daily wearer to feel comfortable with kabuchi brushes (is that even what I should use with a liquid? I really need to find that out), but even the included little brushy thing gives a decent starting place.

No weird plastic-factory smell, the price is awesome which made you click in the first place, and I feel like myself with it on, just a bit sharper.

Purchased this foundation at my local Walmart in North Carolina. I’ve use Black Opal foundation before, but this one right here was not good for my skin. I have moderate, combination oily skin which often works in my favor when it comes to applying the right shade of foundation.

This particular product has a heavier consistency. After applying it, it went on caky and has an orange tinge to it. What affected me the most is that it felt like it burned my skin and left my skin feeling very tender for several hours.

I love this foundation, for the first time I had found a foundation to match my skin tone. I feel this foundation is better suite dry skin. I wish it was in a pump bottle instead of a tube. It blends flawlessly onto the skin but it transfers easily, it’s just a messy situation.

I would buy this again, foundations that are true to my skin tone are hard to find.

Good foundation but not the best. Its good but I don’t like how it’s whitish grey at first and then when you rub it in your face it changes color but I guess that makes it natural like if your applying moisturizer.

But if you want to apply with a beauty blender I find hard if it’s whitish grey. It does look great after blending it into skin. Gives a natural look and glow.

Honestly, i did not expect much out of this product. I had seen reviews but i wanted to try for myself, as the concept of it seemed pretty cool. I bought the light to medium shade and it applies as a grey liquid/paste.

As you mix, it changes to an orange color. Does it match your skin color? Nope. It smells kind of like clay, and although its light coverage it feels like it would not be healthy for your skin. Once applied, i seriously looks like a bad summer face burn.

After finishing powder and concealer i would say it looks okay. But not a big fan, would not recommend.

I’m only reviewing the Light-Medium one, but I gotta say it’s way too dark for this suggested range. I’m a medium tan skin tone and I honestly think the highlight and two bronzers were pretty deeply pigmented even for me.

It also kicks up a lot of powder (reminds me of ABH eyeshadows if you ever used them). I need to use fluffier brushes and blend onto the back of my hand first to diffuse the product before I use on the face.

I think maybe it would be better advertised as medium-tan range. I also found the bronzers too similar and warm/orangey to use as contour. Better for me as a coppery bronze blush. The highlight is actually kind of a cool-neutral champagne gold (I was expecting a yellowy gold), especially in comparison to how orange the contour and sculpt powders are; a little glittery but not too bad.

It’d be way too dark for light skin though. The price is very inexpensive and I can definitely use this palette as eyeshadow and blusher/bronzer but it definitely is not good for actual contouring or for light-medium skin tones.

I hope the other palettes are good, it would be nice for BR to revamp and expand the palette shade ranges and contour powders to be cooler toned. It is a generally great inexpensive makeup brand with quality products.

I am a returning devotee of this brand. I am sooo happy the company is owned and operated by two beautiful black women who also own Fashion Fair Cosmetics. I buy from both so my coins stay within the family! Anyway, the foundation has a beautiful soft matte finish.

I use it in combination with the foundation sticks. Black Opal has great color matches and I would love to see the expansion of the color selection for this foundation.

If you’re looking for an affordable matte foundation with FULL coverage, this is your guy!! It reminds me of the Maybelline Matte Poreless Foundation but upgraded! I have combination skin with an oily tzone and this really helps with keep it maintained!! One of my many foundation obsession!! Its def worthy of trying out! I bought this product at my local Walgreens. The application is liquid, very creamy, and easy to blend. Perfect for building coverage. I was very pleased with the color and warmth because as a black woman, I struggle with that and didn’t need to mix 2 different products.

Cons: be careful with using setting spray. This picture was at the ends of my day and got a bit oily looking. Would definitely recommend and keep buying this and try others from Black Opal.

I love this foundation, I have acne prone combination skin, I get dry spots on my forehead and oily throughout my t zone and so so many products break me out and I struggle to find a foundation that works with dry spots as well as my oily zones.

This does beautifully, I use a real techniques sponge or a beauty blender and it looks gorgeous, it’s not full coverage it’s more of a light to medium coverage but the way it looks on the skin is amazing and the best part is it doesn’t break me out.

I use to love the Estée Lauder double wear foundation but I recently went back to it and it broke me out so badly and every time I go to attempt to try it it breaks me out again, same with my charlotte tilbury airbrush foundation which is beautiful but I break out horribly from it.

This works pretty well with a mask on considering I wear one 8 hour a day, it’s not perfect there is some transfer but it’s such a graceful fade that it works. I don’t wear primer but I do set it with a translucent setting powder either the Laura mercier or the honest beauty setting powder and sometimes a spritz of the all nighter setting spray and it looks stunning throughout the day.

I usually only set it with powder but if I want extra longevity from it I use a setting spray. On occasion I use a primer which is my holy grail guerlain primer (the one with the gold flecks) and it will stay put for 12 hours.

I still use my tarts shape tape with it and it blends beautifully together. I highly recommend this if you struggle with acne prone skin, sensitive skin or are oily. HOWEVER, if you are very dry this might not work well for you, back in January when it was cold and dry in the northern Midwest I had some dry patches that it would occasionally cling too so if you’re very dry this might not work well but if you’re oily this should be fine.

I’m a liquidy light natural foundation lover. So ya I’ve tried everything from Kosas to Armani and everything in between. I have redness acne scars large pores oily and dry areas. First off, shade 22.

5 is WAY lighter than depicted on the model. It’s whitish not yellow based. I’m usually light medium or a sand leaning more medium. This tone would suit a more fair person that doesn’t tan. If you have a warm yellowish base and need to cover redness, go up 2 shades.

Even up one shade I think would still be too light. There is a slight shimmer of you look at the clear bottle you’ll see it. I thought it would make me look glowy but instead I think it emphasized texture in my skin instead of smoothness.

Yes it’s really light weight and it does cover light to med but it really clings to any dry patches and dried down kind of matte and just looked fake and mask like instead of skin like because it dries down almost a strange thin powder like effect.

I looked like a ghost in a flat matte thin rice paper describes it best. I know I wouldn’t even like it in the right colour because of the weird flatness of it. Kosas is WAY better but less coverage and more skin like.

Best with Saie glow serum under! But this was a let down. There’s so many better thin formulas out there with great skin benefiting ingredients. If you are like me in between light-med with a warm undertone and some pink/redness and you want a comforting medium-full coverage slightly hydrating but not oily or thick, not too light or tanned, foundation that is clean with soothing ingredients and makes your bad skin look flawless with a natural sheen, try Tarte foundsealer multi tasking liquid pump foundation in 34S.

it will appear way too dark in the description ignore that, it’s perfect. This stuff will blow your mind. If you’re very oily you may not like. But this Your Skin but Better foundation just sits on top and looks thin cakey if that makes sense.

It just doesn’t blend in well. It’s so over rated on here.

Can’t believe how natural this flaw covering foundation looks. Finding a foundation worth wearing has always been a seemingly impossible task. I’m light to light-medium and find most shades are way too yellow, pink or peach/orange.

Neutral never really is. And in the rare occurrence that a color is just right, it turns orange (oxidizes) on me within an hour. Also feel that obvious foundation, no matter how even and pretty the color, is unattractive and worse than nothing.

I’ve tried most every mid rage to exorbitantly pricy foundation offered in the last 20 years and only found one that worked for me before this – IT’s O2. The light shade was perfect, the formula didn’t oxidize, and it gave a “my skin but better” look.

As that was discontinued years ago and the other IT formulas look like cakey orange messes on me, I didn’t expect much from this one. But it’s even better than O2 in that it covers better and still looks natural.

Like O2 it has a shade that matches well and doesn’t turn orange. Been wearing 31 medium-neutral, and will probably add a hint of 21. 5 or 22 light-neutral to lighten in winter. Typically wear it over Murad’s Invisiblur primer with SPF.

People think I’m 15 years younger than my ago so it’s not amplifying any flaws.

This foundation creates a very beautiful natural finish no matter what I use for application: Fenty Precision Makeup Sponge, or fingers, doesn’t matter. I prefer a very light coverage application, so I cannot say how this would hold up if I needed fuller coverage.

It’s just barely scented, and inoffensively. It sits well by itself or with a setting powder over it (I use MAC Blot). I tend towards oilier, so the powder helps it last a lot longer. Even without powder, it doesn’t clog my pores, nor does it look like it’s separating throughout the day (in fact it looks surprisingly glowy after some oil starts appearing by early afternoon).

It does start moving and collecting around the nose once the oiliness sets in late day, but no foundation is impervious to that. I would highly recommend this to anyone with normal, combination, or oily skin.

I’m fairly on top of exfoliation, so I cannot say if this has ever clung to dry patches (though I find that no foundation holds up if you have dry skin, so I would be amazed if this was an exception).

Application goes on very smoothly. This is NOT a thick formula, nor does it run like a watery tint. It’s more moist than MAC or NARS Foundations, in my experience, but not quite a hydrating lotion. It doesn’t tend to dry before I’m finished applying, and I live in a very dry climate.

I have not worn this during a hot sweaty humid summer yet, so I cannot review for that climate. Currently it is a crisp and dry autumn, and it’s holding up well throughout day and evening wear.

Overall I’m disappointed with this famous foundation. I’d tried it by using samples over the years but I bought my first bottle about a month ago for a special occasion. I bought it to be photographed in.

The good things about this: it has a lovely finish; fresh and smooth, and the shade 6. 0, Medium Olive, is a match for my difficult to match skin. It does look great in photos, but not necessarily better than my other foundations.

I am extremely disappointed in the wear-time of Luminous Silk. I’m spoiled, because my go-to foundation for years has been Estée Lauder Double Wear (Tawny). But, frankly, I get better wear (and coverage) from Clinique Even Better Clinical Serum, and NARS Sheer Glow (the foundation most similar to Armani for me) lasts longer than Luminous Silk, and has a more radiant finish! I feel like I’m missing something…this foundation is iconic…but, in my opinion, it’s way, way overpriced.

I need to use concealer with this and it’s the first time in my life I’ve ever used concealer. I find the finish of Double Wear to be more beautiful on my skin. People compliment my skin all the time when I use it.

In a month of using Armani the closest I’ve had to a compliment is someone told me I looked tired one day. Since this foundation is so lauded, I expected it to be something with exceptional performance and appearance.

On my skin it doesn’t hold a candle to Double Wear. For “radiant” foundation NARS Sheer Glow is more beautiful on me, and for “natural”, I prefer Clinique Even Better serum. For perfect skin, Double Wear can’t be beat.

I had to try this, and I’m glad I did. I’m also glad I honestly prefer other foundations. This is overpriced, and something in it makes me break out when I use it daily.

If you’re a person of color looking for a new foundation look no further, this foundatoion is absolutely amazing. I have a neutral warm golden undertone and having both undertones I do not have a lot of perfect shade matches in other brands.

The shades are either too warm or too olive but this is such a perfect match to my skin. This a medium coverage foundation without looking cakey, it looks like skin. This foundation makes your skin so luminous and dewy without looking greasy, I use MAC Strobe Cream to make it even more luminous.

The shade range is amazing and is a very good option for women of color and women with with a neutral or olive undertone, especially Indian women looking for a new foundation. This is my new holy grail and my forever foundation, its also very beginner friendly.

The price tag on this foundation is worth it trust me you will not regret getting it and you will not find anything like it. For shade reference I match to Fenty Pro Filtr 370 foundation, Hourglass Vanish Stick Natural Amber, Rare Beauty 360W, Rare Beauty Skin Tint 42N.

This is an oil based foundation, and a very solid choice for someone who is looking for a light-medium coverage and who has relatively good skin. When you pump it out it had almost a whipped texture which I really enjoyed.

The color match on my skin is absolutely PERFECT and I often have a bit of a hard time getting the perfect undertone. The finish is more of a soft-matte to natural finish. I will say that it isn’t really buildable, as I found adding extra in certain places just melted into the skin and almost disappeared.

The reason this foundation gets 4 stars from me is because it is one of VERY few foundations that are completely ALUMINUM free!! It also does not contain any chemical spf which I prefer, and a lot of foundations seem to include that by default.

I like to add in a drop or two of Dermablend pigment to add a little extra coverage which works great. I have been using this for about two months now with no increase in clogged pores or blemishes on my acne prone skin.

This foundation actually contains oils that are acne friendly and help balance natural oil production. I will say it doesn’t do anything to camouflage pores or fine lines, but it doesn’t accentuate or make them worse either which can be a challenge to navigate for us with very large pores.

I actually think the finish of this foundation would also suit dry skin types due to its ingredients and overall finish. I did enjoy this foundation, and will continue my search to find a more full coverage aluminum free foundation.

Color is perfect and love the creamy feel. Have been a customer since 2000 when I first saw your line of products in my husbands Plastic Surgeons office. I refuse to use anyone else’s. Janes makeup has been known to last up to 48 hours with no problem.

Though I recommend it to everybody they always come back with”Never heard of it” maybe some form of mass mailing offer or ads would help. I live on the West Coast of USA and I will go to the distance of even looking up on the Web for a store close to them in order to personally purchase your products, fore some people want to see products first.

I recieved 2 shades of this, M5 & M6 (and well as a blending/contouring brush) via Influenster in a VoxBox, in exchange for my honest opinion. both shades I recieved are a good match for me as I have neutral undertones! But it seems when I mix the 2 shades together, I get an even better tone! This foundation is so gorgeous & stays true to its name “Beyond Matte” because it dries down to a beautiful matte finish and it is full coverage! It blends so easily, with either a brush or a wet beauty sponge, so whatever your preference for application is, this works well with a variety of different tools.

It dries down a little faster than some foundations I’ve used but not so fast that you can’t blend it out. Looks great on it’s own with a little bit of concealer (where I brighten certain areas on my face) but is also a great canvas if you’d like to use bronzer, powder etc.

its non-cakey & is what I consider to be a “long wear” formula, as I didn’t have to reapply throughout the day, it’s also a very buildable foundation as well. Although I do believe it is a full coverage formula, it dries down so nicely that you can layer it without messing up the “base” you’ve laid down in your 1st application.

Most matte foundations are a little harder to work with. I don’t have a specific finish that I lean to more than another but usually wear sheer, satin & dewy finishes more than mattes because again, some mattes are harder to work with so I play it on the safe side and usually avoid them LOL (even though I LOVE the look of a good matte once dried down), so its relieving to now have one, or two rather, that I know works with my skin and looks amazing! I don’t think I’ve ever heard of this brand prior to recieving my voxbox but I am definitely sold on these foundations and the blending/contouring brush that came with it.

I absolutely love all 3 products and WILL be purchasing them again! There are very few foundations that I say I “live for” and this one is definitely one of them. I am so surprised how well they perform and both bottles should last me a long time, and a little goes a long way! I will definitely be telling ALL of my friends and family about jane iredale!.

It is so crazy how I accidentally fell in love with this product. I was out of town and I forgot to bring my contour with me, therefore, I bought this in target because it was convenient. I love the color and how buttery the formula is.

This blends so nicely no matter what tool I use, whether it is my brush or beauty sponge. I love that this gives me a beautiful sun kissed look, it gives me the bronzer look. I’m so glad I can find it in multiple stores and its great for melanin skin! So i definitely stand.

To start of this product is really good. I love the product. I believe that this product can be used for people with oily skin and sensitive skin. ALL skin types. Overall a good product. I use this product as a bronzer.

I have purchased the Black Radiance Foundation maybe 2 or 3 times now. Each time I purchased, it was in the shade Rum Spice. The shade actually matched my skin tone very well compared to the foundation I used before this one.

When I used the previous foundation I had to blend two shades together in order to match my skin tone. Lol. It was so ridiculous. Anyway with that being said it was a relief to get something that was already perfect for my skin.

which meant applying it was less time consuming. The Black Radiance Foundation had the right amount of coverage for me(which was average). The fact that this product is oil-free is a #PLUS since my t-zone gets super crazy and oily throughout the day.

I did purchase this product at my local Walmart for $3. 97, so you really can’t beat the price. I would definitely recommend this product for beginners or even someone looking to try out a new foundation without paying much.

Given I’ve been hooked on NARS Creamy Concealer for years, I was so excited to try their version of skin care foundation, especially given the rave reviews I’ve seen. I have tested for 3 days now, using different application techniques.

I am 32 with combination, generally “good” non-acne skin with some visible freckles and sun damage and am sadly generally disappointed with this product. Per the NARS demo video, I first tried warming the product and applying with my hands for a low-key errand day.

I was generally pleased with the medium level coverage and natural finish using this technique, but there was nothing wowing that day. I next tried with a Real Techniques sponge and this was surprisingly the worse application, although I generally love the finish that sponges give me.

After about 8 hours or normal wear at work, I noticed the product breaking up in my oily areas (in between my eyebrows, above my nose, and on my nose), while also settling into my fine lines. Lastly, I tried applying with the Real Techniques face brush and consistent with other YT reviews I’ve seen, this was my favorite application.

For the first time, my skin did have a beautiful natural luminous finish upon application, BUT. again, I noticed the product breaking up after a day of wear similar to the day before. Overall, I agree with the marketing of this product as medium coverage.

Consistent with other YT reviews I’ve watched, I do not consider it “buildable,” nor long-wearing. Given the price point of this product and NARS’ reputation, I really expected more. If you’re truly looking for skincare foundation, I would suggest other options.

To give you a comparison between other brands I’ve used and loved, my staples are Maybelline Fit Me Matte, Clinique Superbalanced and Even Better, and Este Lauder Double Wear. I consider them all more long-wearing, medium to full coverage, with natural but better skin that I get complimented on.

This formula could be better.

I really love this foundation! It seems to work perfectly with my skin. I have pretty dry skin with mild rosacea and eczema so it can be hard to find foundation that doesn’t just accentuate the dryness in certain areas but this one doesn’t do that and in fact works better than most foundations I’ve tried! It sits very nicely on the skin and leaves it looking smooth and natural.

There’s no glow or dewiness really which I like since because of my dry skin most of my foundations and setting sprays are dewy and hydrating but sometimes I don’t want my skin to look dewy, I just want it to look natural yet beautiful.

It seems to wear pretty well and at night when I go to take it off I don’t see dryness shining through or cracks in the foundation, it still looks good! It takes to my skin and even looks way better than the Sheer Glow foundation which I had high hopes for but doesn’t seem to agree with dryness for some reason.

I’ve always thought that all my foundations needed to be “neutral” but I went to Sephora and got perfectly shade matched with Yukon wich has cool undertones I realized that it looks way better and more natural then most neutral shades I’ve had.

This has become the foundation I use most days, along with my Tower28 tinted sunscreen, I do wish it had sunscreen in it though, that would make it perfect! but maybe that would mess with the formula and since I do not want the formula to change one bit it’s probably perfect just the way it is.

So this has very quickly become my favorite foundation and the only reason it’s not getting 5 stars like it should just for the formula and effectiveness alone is because I absolutely cannot stand the pump! It is such a bad pump and squirts out way too much product in one go and there’s no way to control the flow of it when it comes out and it is so frustrating and the reason it doesn’t get 5 stars.

Put a better pump on your amazing foundation Nars!! Since pumps are the best it sucks they put such a crappy one on it.

MY EXPERIENCE: + TRUE COVERAGE: high-medium, buildable + TRUE FINISH: very dewy, glowing / not self-setting + OXIDIZATION: yes; this does sharply oxidize to the point where you may want to consider choosing a shade lighter than normal to counteract the change + MELASMA TEST: fail; was able to see through to all of my melasma discoloration + PACKAGING: I’ve always loved the simplistic luxury of NARS.

Overall, it’s a very nice bottle, and it definitely reflects the brand’s image + RESULTS TO CLAIMS: light, breathable formula = yes, medium, buildable coverage = yes, instantly blurs and smooths the skin = yes (if you use a dampened sponge), all-day wear = yes, natural finish = no + VALUE: Using the ‘average’ amount of foundation as 1.

This calculates to be $49. 00/ounce, which I would consider high-end pricing + RECOMMENDATION: it’s not every day that I wear a foundation, and find minimal flaws with it! It did show slight wear in my expression areas – but that’s expected. Although VERY luminous, it didn’t look excessively oily or greasy. I’m sure I could have attained a LOT more wear out of it! This is truly a smoothing formula that I cannot wait to wear time and time again! On a grand scale, this is by far one of the best-wearing foundations I’ve ever tried! For those who are possibly new to makeup or have been living under a rock, Fashion Fair is back and they absolutely did not disappoint. This rebrand is everything that we needed and more. Back before there was such a major push for inclusivity in the beauty community, FF was my go to in all things complexion.

Being super melanin infused, I had a difficult time finding brands that catered to my deep skin. FF understands that undertones matter and offers up a nice range of shades. In addition, this formula is everything.

If I want a smooth, medium-to-full coverage look QUICKLY, this is my go to. Not to mention, I get the most compliments on my base when I’m out with this on. It’s not drying and looks natural. It also doesn’t cause me to look oily.

I. Love. This. Product. So happy this partnership with Sephora happened so I can buy one of my fave products AND earn my points.

This foundation is awesome. I’ve been complimented on my skin while wearing it, which says it all lol. It comes out as a very thick, creamy consistency, which can seem heavy, but because you really only need a tiny bit for full coverage, it ends up sitting on the skin pretty lightly.

It spreads easily and blends down into the skin very naturally, and gives a pretty, skin-like finish, while still offering full coverage. The staying power throughout the day is really great, especially when paired with a setting spray.

After a full day of wear, there’s no breaking up or fading, and although it does settle into my smile lines, it is definitely not as noticeable as some that I’ve tried. It was also very comfortable to wear.

I have dry skin, which can make it hard to find foundations that work with me. Some of them end up feeling tight and looking powdery and crumbly, but this one felt and looked good all day. It moved with my skin and maintained a bright, glowy finish without coming off greasy.

When wearing it in the summer, I did have to blot it (which is new for me), so I save it more for winter, but it’s nice to find a foundation that works well with my skin’s needs. Finally, the color is a perfect match, which can be hard to find for someone with my skin tone, which is mid-range with golden-olive undertones.

I would definitely recommend this product for any women of color looking for a foundation that offers superior color matching and full-coverage with a beautiful, glowy finish.

This is one of the very best full coverage foundations I’ve ever used perhaps it’s because I got a perfect match with warm golden undertones as opposed to the reddish, brick or olive undertones most foundations create which leave a grey cast on me.

It glides on smooth silky but dries matte. i absolutely love it.

This foundation is awesome for full coverage. It provides a matte finish that’s easy to blend. I love the fact that it comes in a tube because it’s easier to control the quantity needed for one application.

A little goes a long way with this. I literally used the single tube for two years. I’ll definitely recommend it.

Ladies, do not hesitate to try this foundation. It feels weightless on the skin and a fraction of a drop is enough for my entire face. Plus, it does everything it promises on the bottle such as minimising pores.

If you are unsure of your shade, look at the face swatches on Uoma’s site or even better, find your shade by searching for this foundation on Youtube as I did. The shade range is extensive so this helped narrow things down for me.

This foundation looks the same after a 7. 5 hour working day, I usually apply the lightest sweep of setting powder over my T-zone in a similar brown shade and it looks flawless all day. There’s no need for the bright under-eye concelear trick, but that is down to personal preference.

This give me flawless skin and civers everything when I want to do the model-off-duty minimal makeup look too LOL. Hope this helps someone else fall in love with this product.

This foundation took me on quite the journey. I’ve been working with it for over a month trying to get it to apply without pilling or looking patchy. The color match and comfort of wear in this product is so good that I had to just keep working at it – I tried different primers, blending it with facial oils of all kinds, brush/finger/dry sponge/wet sponge/velour sponge/begging and pleading/tears – we went through some changes, this foundation and me.

Till I finally figured it out. – It wants to set down FAST and it’s not super thick so there is a certain method to get her highness to blend: work on no more than 1/4 of your face at a time with a barely water damp beauty blender sprayed lightly with setting spray.

Blend gently, but quickly, being careful not to over do it. I have incredibly fair skin with some equally incredible red patches and I find that when I follow this method I don’t need more than one coat and very minimal concealer – mostly under my eyes (which I do after my eye makeup) and the tip of my nose and a birthmark that’s deciding to show back up right between my eyes (yeah, that’s awesome, thanks nature).

I’m glad I didn’t give up on this product; I have NEVER had a shade match like this; even when I would use color correctors in my foundations, sacrificing comfort. This lady doesn’t need any help; she’s got this handled.

I cannot tell you how nice it is to have a single product blend in to my complexion without having to add stuff to it. Even with the blending method it’s still faster. It looks beautiful, it’s so lightweight I forget I’m wearing it, and I only have to tap at my deep chin wrinkle after a number of hours *maybe*.

I’m very glad I didn’t give up on her!.

I like this foundation so much I bought it in two shades so I can wear it all year round. The thing that is special about this foundation is that there are different formulas, depending on skin tone because apparently different skin tones have different needs.

For my winter shade, my shade is from the “fair lady” line and my summer shade is from the “honey honey” line. Both look beautiful on my skin, giving it a natural finish. It blends well and does not apply patchy and doesn’t cling to any dry spots.

I like that the coverage depends on how much you want. Half a pump would give light coverage, 1-1. 5 pumps gives medium coverage and 2-3 pumps gives very full coverage. It’s very light weight and doesn’t have that makeup feel.

It looks smooth, blurs my pores and doesn’t settle into fine lines. It really does make my skin look amazing. I have dry skin and I love that it doesn’t make my skin feel more dry, like some foundations have done.

It also has skin care ingredients in it which is always a nice bonus! About the formula. Honey honey is aimed at people with olive skin, who, according to the Uoma website, tend to have more oily/combo skin.

This formula is made with rose extract which helps the skin repair itself, reduce inflammation, reduced sebum production and protects from free radicals. It also has berry extract to deliver hydration.

(Which is why my skin probably never feels dry with the foundation!) Fair lady is for people with fair/light skin. This formula targets the concern of premature aging skin and is usually for people with combo/dry skin.

This formula contains aglianico grape, which is “known to induce hyaluronic acid synthesis, stimulate collagen production and improve cell detoxification”. This formula contains berry extracts as well.

Overall, I’m very happy with this foundation. It’s $39 for a bottle which is very fair I think, and it performs better than other foundations that cost considerately more. I highly recommend this foundation.
