20 Best Lubricant For Car Window Tracks (2023 Updated)

My RV Slide started to squeak this year. The slide is a cable slide that rests on a rail for the full length of the slide. I was able to identify the location of the noise and applied a small amount of “Lubriplate” to the area involved.

This immediately quieted the noise the slide was making. I decided to do research to find a product made for this application. Your product “RV Care Slide-Out” indicated it could be used on all slides and materials.

I applied about a 3″ wide coating to the underside for the full length of the slide with the slide extended and near the rubber wiper. I ran the slide in and back out. After one use the slide started shaking like is what hanging up due to excessive resistance.

I then wiped the underside to remove your product and applied a narrow bead of “Lubriplate” in the same area as I did for your product. The slide started performing well after I cycled it in and out one time.

This leads me to believe your product failed to provide the necessary lubricity. Basically, I wasted a drive to the store and the money spent on the product based on what I read on your product label.

It would be nice to hear from you regarding my issue.

I bought this specifically because it states “Dries in seconds”. I didn’t realize they meant 420+ seconds. Before applying to my slide, I test application to determine spray pattern to minimize overspray, distance can needed to be from where I was applying and dry time.

I ended up spraying (not stream through straw) lightly at about 2 feet on to a piece of 3×3 angle iron, waiting about 30 seconds and placing in light dust breeze. Was still wet and dust stuck. Kept repeating increasing dry time until I got to 420 seconds with same results.

At this point I gave up as I didn’t realize the meant seconds leading into minutes. I must admit, they may be factually correct about drying in seconds, I just don’t know how many, 600, 3600, 4300,. ???.

I have used the brand 3-In-One many times and I am always impressed with the lasting quality! This rubber seal conditioner earned my seal of approval as well after using it on my RV. I take pride in my RV, it is a slideout and I am often using it to entertain guests, or have others over to stay, as well as using it to go traveling and camping myself.

That being said, I want to keep my RV in tip top shape, from big details to the small overlooked details. This rubber seal conditioner helps me feel better about keeping parts of my RV protected. I appreciate the straw attachment piece, as it helps provide a more thorough job when applying which is important.

It sprayed out nicely and evenly, and did not get any air bubbles while spraying the rubber seals down. I made sure that every part of the seals were covered, as I wanted this product to do it’s job best.

I like that is waterproof, it rains quite a bit where I live in the Midwest, and I want to keep water out of my valuable RV. The seals I have noticed look a lot better than before I applied this conditioner, and do not look dried out which is what they usually look like.

I’m very impressed with this product, and will continue to own 3-In-One products, as they really help protect and keep products looking their best!.

I use this product in the engine compartment of an aircraft to lubricate a butterfly vale fitting in the heated air for the cockpit compartment. It is heat exchanged air from the muffler and very hot, hence the need for a lubricant that can withstand high temps.

I am sorry to report that the container arrived with the screw-on top loose/unscrewed and about 1/4 of the oil was out of it’s container and had leaked into the plastic holding bag. The bag itself had also been penetrated and the leaking oil had spread throughout the shipping box.

So, L&M, you need to have your shipping department do a little more diligence in their packaging service, especially since the shipping cost more than the oil itself did.

The manufacturer of my Amp Research power steps on my Ford F-150 will specifically require this DRY silicone spray lubricant on the steps. Mine started to jam and after I washed them and used this fantastic lubricant, that dried clear, they work perfectly! I also use this on my Harley for an invisible lubricant that doesn’t attract dirt to cause binding, Great product!! Phoenixmike.

Purchased this to spray my slides on my travel trailer. The service department specially mentioned this spray for the slides. Jb tools was the cheapest place I could find it even after shipping was half of what Amazon was charging.

Purchased 12 cans so not sure when I will need it again but will come back here if the price is right.

3M’s dry silicone spray is great for your car’s slow power windows. Normally, it would be five stars, but the straw is awful, and that is a big problem! Unfortunately, the straw doesn’t quite stay on the can, and even when it is connected, it still sprays around the straw! Yes, it sprays inside the straw too, but it shouldn’t spray around it.

Since this makes the straw slippery, you can’t tape it back on to the can. And sometimes when you spray, the straw spontaneously pops off! You’ll be spraying a few seconds when the straw just randomly decides to go flying.

Yes, this horrible straw is bad enough to lower an otherwise 5-star product down to three stars. But if you don;t use it in a way where that straw is required, by all means the dry silicone is fantastic and 5-star worthy.

WD-40 Specialist High Performance Silicone Spray 400ml I have worked on vehicles both professionally and personally for approximately 33 years, I also worked in mechanical machining and engineering for 12 years.

I decided to purchase the WD-40 Silicone spray after a few hours spent online researching the product and viewing others reviews. Every grease and spray lubricant is designed for a specific purpose, it is in most applications essential to apply the correct type of lubricant in relation to the role and purpose of the component it is being applied and used on.

In addition, it is also essential to ensure that no other component used in the parts construction will be damaged by the addition of the grease or lubricant. Can you use another alternative lubricant or grease type that it is not intended for? Yes, in some applications this is possible, however i would pose this question, olive oil, lard, suet, butter, and margarine are also greases so would any sane person pack a wheel bearing or lubricate a component with these! Using an incorrect grease or lubricant can either cause immediate damage, or over a longer period of time cause rapid and significant wear of the part to occur.

(Example) Using copper grease on caliper guide pin bolts! I have seen dozens of user posts made on vehicle repair forums where people recommend or suggest using copper grease for this application, and truth be told used this myself for this exact application.

The end result, it worked; however in the process it caused severe wear to the guide pin bores and guide pins, I discovered many many years later my mistake, use a pure silicone grease only. One of the additional spray lubricants i have purchased for use is, WD-40 Specialist High Performance PTFE spray 400ml.

Technically WD-40 Silicone spray should be the correct grease type for the brake guide pins application then. NO, the WD40 silicone spray lubricant contains other oils and chemicals in addition to the silicone component, this applies to all spray lubricants, in addition it is a spray oils lubricant, and not a grease.

It will destroy the butyl rubber gasket seal on the guide pins and possibly the caliper piston seal if it contaminates it, this applies to all spray oils and greases. In this instance, for clarification purposes I first read the data sheet available for the silicone spray on WD-40’s domain website, apparently the effect on other substrates and materials has yet to be clarified! Then i tested the WD-40 silicone spray on an old calipers guide pins and pistons rubber seals, the end result was that the seals swelled and expanded making them loose fitting and ultimately useless in sealing their intended components.

Does this mean that you should stay away from this or any other spray lubricant or grease? No, as mentioned at the beginning these lubricants are designed for specific application, just ensure you do not accidentally contaminate another non compatible plastic or rubber.

Use the correct tool for the job, and if in any doubt test and or read the sprays technical documentation. So how does the WD-40 Specialist High Performance Silicone spray perform. Unfortunately i have yet to use this spray on an application, however I have used the WD-40 PTFE, and also the standard WD-40 anti seize spray many times over the years with excellent results.

The standard WD-40 lubricant has always performed superbly on difficult to remove and stubborn nuts screws and bolts, as well as other applications. Their is no reason to believe that the WD-40 Silicone spray will not perform as well.

The spray will apply just as precisely and easily using the available built in straw, and also provide even and good coverage if using the built in wide angle nozzle option. I tested the silicone spray and it dries to a tack free finish, which will help significantly in preventing clogging and sticking issues, as well as repelling excess dirt and dust contamination.

It will last a very long time, as their is sufficient quantity in the can for many applications to be applied. I was recently stranded when my car’s remote key fob stopped functioning (not the battery in it). I keep the actual key handy; however, it had been so long since I’d actually used it that the locks had frozen.

AAA was suggesting a 4 hr. window for showing up, and the nearest car dealership where I could purchase a new remote would have been closed by then. I’m lucky in that the lock-out happened not on a remote road but at a shopping mall.

I figured I was in luck when I saw Harbor Freight’s sign. Sure enough, they had this silicone spray, and it worked immediately. Fortunately, I did not listen to the salesperson who thought your store didn’t carry it.

The only negative is the size of the can. I think this would be handy to carry with me for just such emergencies if it were a small size. Even using it when I got home on a squeaky door hinge, I still think it will take forever for me to use up such a large can.

Bottom line: excellent product.

Absolutely the best lubricant I have ever used. Fantastic for getting sticker clue off items. Far superior to WD-40. Does not evaporate!!! I had duck tape and residue on a car mirror. I soaked a piece of paper towel in this and “plastered†it to the window, overnight when temps dropped to freezing.

This morning it slid right off. Works in heat or cold. Only need a little to do a bi job!.

Although this is not sold as a chain lube, it is by far the best product I have used in thirty years as a professional motorcycle technician. Using this product aloud me to exceed 25K mile on the original chain and sprockets of my KTM 950 Adventure.

I first heard about this product from other riders online. In 42 years of riding, I’ve went through just about every formulation and variation of chain lubricant there is. DuPont Multi-Purpose Lubricant isn’t advertised as a specific chain lube, but it does that very well.

In fact, it’s replaced the penetrating oil and cable lube products on my workbench shelf. It comes in both a large spray can with nozzle tube, and also a non-aerasol squeeze bottle. It sprays on to a chain and quickly leaves no appreciable residue.

No oil fling and no dirty rim, either. I use the squeeze bottle to lube cables and with a lube injector such as the Cable Life one, the spray will do that too. This is great stuff. Hard to find elsewhere, Rocky Mtn.

As I write this, I have in my hand a tube of Door-Ease that I bought about 40 years ago. At the time it carried the “TRW” Corporate name, and came in a metal tube, sort of like a gigantic version of the various “lip-balm” products on the market(back when that product came in a metal tube also).

I used it infrequently over the years for everything from hard to open/close doors (apparently its intended use) to wooden drawers and aluminum and plastic sliding windows. I would guess that it is some sort of compound of beeswax and possibly paraffin, petrolatim, and other “slippery” ingredients.

Just yesterday I used it again on a stubborn door and jamb, and it still worked Okay, despite having shrunken and turned brown over the years. Noting the deteriorated appearance of the product (what do you expect after 40 years?) and the fact that it was about 3/4 used up, I decided to buy a new tube.

At both a major national hardware superstore and the local small hardware store, employees acted as though they had never heard of such a product, so I found it on this website. I have not found the product to have an offensive order, but having read these negative reviews, I may just stick with using the remainder of what I have.

I might suggest that those who need only a small quantity might try using the “non-scented” version of one or more of the lip balm brands on the market today.

This stuff has been around for years and was happy to discover ACE Hardware has it available. Works great on hood, trunk, and door latches. Also on squeaky fan belts, just be careful. Just wish it came in the metal or cardboad tube like it use to.

Make sure consistancy is on the harder side and not mush.

Go to the Super Lube website and the product description and technical specs are impressive. I use this product in the garage and around the house as a replacement for Aerospace Lubricants Inc. TRIBOLUBE brand “Synthetic Spray Grease”, and LUBRIPLATE brand “Spray Lube A white lithium grease”.

Both of which are excellent products but cost more. The best uses I have found so far for the Super Lube brand “Multi-Purpose Synthetic Lubricant (part no. 31110)” aerosol spray grease are to lubricate the distributor cam for points ignition in older cars and bikes, and to lubricate the ignition advance weights and springs behind the points plate in the Harley Shovelhead motorcycles.

And of course just about anything else with moving parts. I also have found it great for lubing windshield wiper motor worm drives, VW steering box gears, wheel bearings, accelerator and choke cable internal lube, freeing up stubborn and sticky lock sets, tool box drawer slides, etc.

I have been using Super Lube for years. The product never lets me down. Great Lubricant for tools and other DIY applications such as locks and lawn equipment.

I use this for a few things. It is sort of the consistency and look of a thin STP(automotive oil additive). I use it on external lathe gears and rack and pinion gears on a plasma table. It sticks, doesn’t fly off and and also repels dirt pretty well.

I use other products for penetrant uses.

The product is great stuff, The seller was the problem. The add stated $5 for a case of 12 – 2oz bottles plus shipping. What I received was 1 – 2oz bottle. I tried ordering from another vendor on Walmart site who promised a case of 12 bottles for $11.

I have long since used Tri-Flow, great product! I like the fact that the bottle is small and not pressurized. I am able to control the pressure (by squeezing the bottle) dispensing only a few drops and not make a mess!.

Small and compact to put in your pack or tool bag! I used this to lube my jocky wheels. You can get the spray version but this is perfect for the small size to carry. They do include a small applicator to get into small spaces.

Great price too. Highly recommended.

Two things you need: Duct tape & this dry lube. Dry lube goes on rather wet so it goes into cracks – crevices but then the moisture dries up leaving a type of lithium grease where it is needed to reduce friction.

Does that explain it??? Hope so. WD40 is a light oil & doesn’t work like this stuff. Use this stuff on car door key locks, hinges, and front door key holes. Anyways, stuff works great. Use a think rubber band around the can so you don’t lose that all-important red straw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Duct tape to hold stuff together & dry lube to loosen stuff up.

Ive used this spray on more things than I anticipated. My favorite so far has been for door strikes which didnt close easily. Now doors just glide closed with just the push of a finger. Also used on the underside of my zero turn mower deck which tends to accumulate a lot of grass clippings.

Now the grass doesnt stick nearly as much. Im sure it b will require occasional re-application but thats better than scraping hardened, moldy, wet clippings on your back under the deck. Great product.

I needed something to lube my aluminum slider tracks for my sliding garage doow screens and it needed to be dry. This spray goes on wet and quickly dries. There is no odor once it dries also. This is working great to date with my sliding screen sections five in total able to slide with ease.

If we get heavy rains I reapply this as it will wash away with a hard rain. Great product that suits my purpose perfectly.

The Dupont Teflon Lubricant was used on the deck of a lawn mower, It worked well preventing the grass from sticking to the lawn mower deck during the first 30 minutes. The product did not continue to provide the repellent and the grass began to stick.

Used this on my car doors in the cold winter months. It keeps the doors from freezing shut. It’s easy to apply and it works well. I highly recommend this to those of you that don’t have a garage to shelter your car.

The B’laster 11 oz Silicone Lubricant was perfect to cover all the gaskets on 3 vehicles. It does not harm paint and easily wipes clean on glass. It softens the rubber and protects it from the effects of weather.

I’ve been using it for years and I have been very pleased with it even still to this day. I have been able to get by with the standard lube for years, until recently, I came across a mower the need some silicone lubricant.

Considering the success of PB Blaster, I decided to go back to that brand when it came to needing a silicone lube. I recently acquired a lawn mower that needed a silicone lube to lubricant the handle actuation of the plastic pieces, that control the self propel drive.

Since you can’t use petroleum based lubes on plastic and rubbers, because it will eat through them, I have to use silicone. I followed the directions as according to the mower manual, and I applied a good amount of this stuff on both side of the inner and outer tube pieces, on the handle assembly.

Immediately I could feel the results of the lube, because the handle moved more freely and smoothly. However, just like with the standard lube, I can definitely sense an odor from this product. I have a feeling that this product is toxic as well, but I don’t think its as toxic as the standard lube.

Just best to use this in a well ventilated area and you will be fine. I just discovered that PB Blaster makes a PRO-Grade of all purpose lubricant, I think I am going to try that out and see if its any better then the standard all purpose lube that has been around for many years.

Anyways, I give the silicone lube a solid 5 out of 5.

Originally I just use it on the rubber, plastic, and vinyl around the car and house. It’s fantastic to preserve all the rubber gaskets on the dishwashing machine. After spraying it on the chrome sink fittings when installing new washers I was amazed at how it cleans and shines.

It’s just a great protection for my fishing equipment and other sporting goods. 🙂 Just keep it off your electric the contactsAnd knock yourself out on everything else. Believe me, if you like like maintaining what you have can’t go wrong with the Blaster Brand of industrial-strength silicone lubricant!.

What I usually use this product for is. first I will use some crud buster pressurized solvent and strip all the old dirt and lube build up in different gun actions then spritz this product on the same actions.

It dries leaving a lubricating film that doesnt attract dirt like oil products do. I suppliment this on super heavy wear areas like slide rails with synthetic lithium grease but the fine internals run super well with just this WD 40 dry lube.

I’m a ground maintenance worker at my local state park, and this trusted shop standby has a new use – preventing camper’s fees from ending up in the wrong hands. Let me explain. We have a camping fee drop box that is pillaged at night, mainly from non-campers stealing camper’s fee envelopes.

What they usually do is that they take a wired coat hanger, place some adhesive on one end, and fish the envelopes from the slot. Coming from a tech background, I know that the WD-40 Multi-Use Product is a really effective dissolver of adhesives.

To this product’s success, it has successfully dissolved wet patch roofing adhesive to CatchMaster Bulk, the very same or similar glue substance used on many rodent glue traps. It even leaves no residue behind so that no envelopes are easily rippable.

If there was one question I’d ask, that would be “What happened to the non-aerosol-based WD-40 Multi-Use Product Trigger Pro?” It had a very nice spray area as far as I’ve read, and I’m wondering if it will make a comeback.

The name of this item is “WD-40 Multi-Use Product”. Nowhere on the bottle does it claim to be a lubricant. Nowhere on the bottle does it say Multi-Use lubricant. WD-40 does not make that claim. Canadian tire just made it up out of thin air.

WD-40 is a solvent and a degreaser. The exact opposite of a lubricant. It can lubricate, it is not a lubricant. Very different things. If a tool is gummed up with grease and grime it will dissolve the grime and unstick the tool.

In that way it lubricates the tool by dissolving the grime that was holding it in place. But it is not an actual lubricant by itself. Its a clean and it gets stuck parts moving again so you can clean it off and apply a real lubricant afterwards.

I received my original order and there was an issue with the spray can. The can must have got damaged in shipping because the spray nozzle was broke and I could not use the lubricant. I contacted Rocky Mountain RV Parts and they sent me a new can within a couple of days.

I couldn’t find any locally so it was a little hard to find. It worked well on my 2 slides on my toy hauler trailer. It quieted down the “drag and squeak” noises the slides were making. The manufacturer of the toy hauler recommended this exact product because other popular lubes collect dirt and grime causing the noises I was experiencing.

eBay is where I found it. Highly recommend.

Used for lubrication of RV slide out parts, was recommended by manufacturer. Don’t know why WalMart’s price was three times the Amazon price, but supply/demand appears very out of balance these days, and I needed it!.

It’s a nice sized can of a very useful solvent with some lubricating qualities. I use WD-40 for a lot of things, and this is a nice sized can for cheaper than just about anywhere. WD-40 is primarily a water repellent solvent.

It works well to dry out distributors (Back in the day when they had points and condensers inside of them) It works great as a tool preservative, if you spray the tool and wipe it with a paper towel that is also sprayed with WD-40 it will remove all the water and inhibit rust.

I don’t use it to lubricate hinges, either in buildings or vehicles, but it has a million uses besides that. (WD-40 will not last as long as some top-quality lubricants for hinges. The brand I use is Wurth HHS-K.

It sprays on, doesn’t run at all and you won’t need to re-lube the car door hinge for years. ) I do use WD-40 to loosen up frozen or just plain cruddy car door locks that don’t want to open. It is particularly useful at removing cheap price tags that have cuts in them so you cannot remove them in one piece.

Spray it with WD-40 and the tag will come right off a minute or two later. Then a tiny bit of dish soap will remove the WD-40. (Plates, glasses, cups, bowls, etc. etc. ).

I use a lot of WD-40 for many things from bolt/nut loosening to battery post protection. Spraying aluminum brackets and assemblies with WD prevent the white ‘rust’ aluminum gets (oxidation) as well. Spray it and rust has a holiday for a few months.

I use a qt spray bottle, shake it well before using (you can see an opaque white ‘layer’ settled at the bottle of the spray bottle) and you always have a fresh batch. I use the flexible nozzle can as well for targeted applications but the bulk sprayer is a great addition to the WD arsenal.

BTW, I transfer the gallon to a clothes soar or softener bottle with a pushbutton release to make refilling the qt bottle easier.

WD-40 , really y’all ? What can one say about the best spray lube in the world , seriously this stuff should be standard equipment on all machinery. I use it for lube to cleaning , my wife uses it for odds and ends as well.

Come to think of it everyone in my house uses it. My family keeps three cans at all times one in the cabinet , one in my tool chest and one in my hobby area. My advice getcha some , you won’t regret it.

I purchased this to use to Clean and Maintain my Mom’s Singer Sewing Machine from the 50’s. Mom had taken Great care of her machine, but it had sat for years after her passing. I only wanted to use the Very Best Product for the job! Visibly the machine looked clean and all parts moved as they should, but After the application, I could see Just How Much of an Improvement there was! It was Truly like Night and Day! We also used this on a door we have that squeaks and groans.

Despite using other products that were All rated Great, the problem persisted Until Using Tri Flow! At last, No More Noisy Door! After using Tri Flow, I’m Sold! I won’t waste money on other products that only Claim to do what this Actually does! I imagine there are So Many Uses for this!! This would be a Great Gift Idea for Father’s Day, Birthdays, Etc! This stuff really works! Ive got an old 488 new holland haybine. One of the bearings on the rollers was squalling bad. A few shots of this stuff on the bearing it quoted right down. After several days of cutting hay with no additional applications, still quiet.

This stuff doesnt dry out like most other spray lubes. I even bought another can of it for my shop use. Will continue to use.

This stuff works great on vinyl windows. Cleaning the windows and using this stuff brought my windows back to life.

Easy to apply. Effective. So far, no indication that it will turn gunky like WD40.

Selected this product after watching a couple of reviews on U-Tube, when it was put up against 5 other similar products. It proved as good or better in different categories. and was cheaper than several other often advertised products.

I use the Super Tech Lubricant for everything. Squeaky Kitchen Cabinets, squeaky doors, even my office chair (which when I sat up would give a huge screeching squeak). Works great on rusted bolts and in my opinion works faster and better than WD40 does.

We also used it on our mailbox that the lock was seized up, would not allow the key to even fit in any more. One spray and it works. The only real downfall to it seems to be that it has a small odor as it is petroleum based and the contents are really pressurized in the can so if you are not expecting it, it will get over everything.

For the money, it’s OK. It can be used on motorcycles and other things and does not fling as much oil as 30-weight, for example; it seems to hang in the chain better. I mostly use it on chain saws for the same reason.
