20 Best Low Profile Window Air Conditioner (2023 Updated)

Purchased this air conditioner because I loved the idea of the low profile and being able to open the window while the unit is installed. That is about the ONLY good thing I have to say about this air conditioner.

I’d give it a “0” rating otherwise! We’ve had nothing but trouble since day 1. The unit is very noisy and keeps us up all night with the compressor turning on and off all night. Now it doesn’t drain properly outside, and yes it is installed on a slant as instructed.

I have to constantly open the drain plug and if I don’t, the unit beeps and shuts down, flashing “FL” for “full” until I drain it. So I started sleeping with a bucket under the unit and the plug open all the time so it at least runs to keep us somewhat cool.

But then I have to get up in the middle of the night to empty the full bucket!!!! And the worst thing, after reviewing my order, and reading the sticker on the side of the unit, I realized I ordered, and paid for an 8000 BTU air conditioner, but the one I received is only 5000 BTU!!!! No WONDER my room is never cool enough!!! This is a total nightmare.

Will never buy another air conditioner from QVC!!!!.

Don’t hesitate to buy this air conditioner! This unit was easy to install, you do need two people, no tools required, (unless you want to use the security bracket which you’ll need a screwdriver). My window sill is not flat but that’s alright, two foam leveling blocks are included, and they worked great.

Use the small level that is also included to level the unit, we had to readjust ours because it was leaning too far inward. That was and easy fix only took a few extra minutes and its level both ways and sturdy.

(No tools) Read the instructions and have a second set of hands. It took less than 30 mins for my husband and I to install. I love how this unit sits on the window sill and doesn’t take up the whole bottom half of the window.

Plenty of daylight can still fill the room with this installed. I turned it on last night because it has to be sitting upright for 24 hours before using so the compressor can work properly. Let me tell you, this unit is powerful.

My bedroom is large and this air conditioner had no problem cooling down that room. It’s quiet to begin with but then when I selected the quiet mode, WOW, I could barely hear it! Finally an air conditioner that won’t keep me up at night.

The remote control is another great feature, keeps me or my husband from getting up in the middle of the night to adjust the temp. It is heavy at 70 lbs but it’s an air conditioner, that should be expected.

I knew this prior to purchasing because QVC does a great job with listing product descriptions and specifications. I highly recommend this product and I’m very happy with it so far!.

I like the low profile and features. It works well once installed. The installation however took all day. Although the opening may measure 11″ it has these leveler levers that stick out about 2″. The clearance for your window sill needs to be around 9″.

You also need a flat base on your windows. My husband had to build a saddle to go over the sill to provide a base for it to rest on. The accessories they provided were pretty useless. We also had to cut away part of our inner sill and dry wall to get it to fit.

There were also contradictory directions. The set up guide provided said it should have a 1/4″ pitch outward and on the unit itself is a sticker that says it should be level bilaterally. When I finally got through to a technical support agent she said she was unaware of this but believed it should have a pitch and they were in the process of rewriting the instructions.

I wasn’t reassured. Also It’s too heavy to be considered portable at 75 lbs.

I read some other reviews, they might have been on Google, not sure. One person said the Energy Mode was annoying because the fan cycles on every 3 minutes to sense the temperature and if the temps are below your setting, which can be very common during the night, it turns off for another 3 minutes.

If it were higher temps, it turns on the compressor. I didn’t know this either but it would not have been a show-stopper for me. I bought it because I have an odd-sized window in an enclosed porch where the opening is 12″ H.

x 48″ W. This would drive me nuts in a bedroom. Or any other room I was going to be in for some time. On my porch where I use my office in there daily, I had to change the settings. I couldn’t understand why every 3 minutes it turns on for maybe a minute or so and then off without running the compressor.

So I changed it to cool and the fan just keeps running while the compressor turns on as the temps rise. Not too energy efficient now is it? With today’s technology and being made in Thailand where the wages are like a penny a day, I thought the price was a little high.

And for that price, I know they could have installed a temp gauge that turns the compressor, blower, etc. on and off just as easily. One last issue was the side Curtains that extend to the sides and attach to the window frame.

Fortunately, with a 48″ W window, I needed to modify my frame anyway. I have my doubts that I would have been able to stretch that thing to the 35 inches they said in the directions. I got about 33″, that was about all.

At 6000BTU/h it has been working very well. It has only been used for the last 5 days, so we’ll see.

Installed it about a week ago, and so far exceeds expectations. Can’t see much of an increase in our electrical usage. We run this more than the old much larger a/c it replaced, but this one is evidently much more efficient.

It cools our bedroom very well, though the bedroom is slightly larger than what the a/c is rated for. It even cools the adjoining living room fairly well. Like the power saver mode, even though it cuts off the compressor and fan when set temp is reached, it turns the fan back on every three minutes.

Instructions say it has to do this to sample a correct temperature reading. It goes off again after a few seconds if the compressor doesn’t have to come on again. Overall, satisfied with the purchase, usually LG products are a little higher than comparable brands, but this was actually one of the least expensive for this rated BTU’s.

Easy to install, not very heavy.

I love the remote because it makes it easy to turn on and off without having to get up multiple times. But switching modes with the remote is difficult to know which setting it’s being programed to. Sometimes I don’t want the energy saving mode on so I do have to get up to check which setting it’s on.

Some people complained about the unit going off and for us it does that when the energy saving setting is on. It only goes off when it’s cool enough in the house and I love that feature. It never randomly turns off but only when the room is cool enough! And you can program the temperature to your liking.

68-74 degree Fahrenheit has been our go to temperature range so far this spring and summer. (((( There was a time it did kept going off when in energy saving mode. like every 10seconds. A family member turned up the temperature to 80 degrees on a hot summer day not understanding how a/c units work.

They thought the higher the setting the cooler it will be. Well guess what ? On energy saving mode it kept shutting off b. c it recognized that it was a hot day / room and blowing warm air in a hot room would be wasting energy.

so it kept shutting off and we thought something was wrong with the a/c until I checked the temperature. We had a good laugh about it afterwards when I explained how temperature works)))) This unit is noisy though, have to turn up our tv double the volume making the tv bass boom throughout the house.

However, it does the job at keeping us cool during the humid hot months. And there’s also a dry setting to collect the moisture in the air which I thought was cool. No pun intended. Setting up required me to use my work gloves (which helped grip the unit without it slipping out my hands) it required two people for my household to set up.

the set up manual and instructions were easy to understand. But It was slightly difficult getting the screws to turn in the back , I’ma lefty so maybe that’s why but we made it work for us. This is the first time we didn’t have to use socks and old t-shirts to put in the window to close the gaps from the outside.

Lol. Overall, I do really like this unit just wish it was quieter and lighter.

I bought this AC less than a month ago, from Lowe’s. And ever since then it’s been leaking. Profusely. Unless I use the fan setting. We are in a heatwave in NYC right now so I can’t do that. And have had to sacrifice my floors (because even with layers of towels, the leakage is so intense my baseboards show signs of water damage now) I followed all troubleshooting necessary per GE’s website.

But nothing worked, because the issue wasn’t on how I installed it- it was on GE’s poor manufacturing. When I contacted them to have the AC repaired, they made an appointment for a technician to come out- only to call me the day of the appointment to reschedule for the following day (that’s fine, these things happen) but less than an hour late they called again to tell me the appointment had been canceled altogether because apparently they don’t service this appliance! (Why not?!) They proceeded to tell me they’d provide me with reimbursement to get a NEW one – minus the tax, which was $40.

I am floored by how poorly this was handled. I ended up contacting Lowe’s directly and they were far more understanding and helpful. Returning it today for a FULL refund, barring anymore unforeseen issues.

Won’t be buying another GE appliance until y’all fix yourself.

This AC unit is absolutely wonderful. It took 2 people to install this window unit but it was pretty easy to do. I love the unique design of this unit so much. It fits OVER the window sill instead of sitting on top of it, which allows me to see out of my window.

No more big, bulky units taking up almost half of my window! It’s also super sleek looking as well. I love it so much, I want the rest of my units replaced to this design. The unit cool my room quickly and efficiently and definitely it not as loud as other units.

I like that the displays dims after so long because I like my room be as dark as possible when I sleep, so that is a handy little feature. You can also connect this to wifi and use your phone or smart speaker to control it.

There are extra features when connecting to your phone, such as setting it up to turn on when you arrive home (via location services) and monitoring your energy consumption. This is such a step up from the a/c units i’ve had in the past and would definitely recommend this product.

As I’m getting old, I don’t want to keep setting up & putting away the window AC yearly. I got this for the saddle design. As a handy man, I thought I could skip the installation manual but this AC has a little trick up its sleeves so do look up how to adjust the AC to the width of the window sill & wall.

Even though the compressor is on the outside, this unit is NOT as quiet as it claims. My biggest issue is with the ECO mode. It cannot detect the room temperature correctly so it fails to maintain the desired temperature.

Multiple times each night, I find myself moving my bed sheet back and forth due to the temperature changes, whether too warm or too cool. The installation kit is OK but not great. Different kinds of foam were provided to fill the gaps.

Needed a new bedroom AC; old one was spitting out ice chunks and spraying water. Our room size was between BTU sizes, and went with the smaller. It is keeping the room cool-just takes a little longer, during heat wave.

Much quieter than old one; makes a humming noise, which is kind of like a white noise machine. Only makes more noise when condenser’s turning back on, but quiets down to same humming as before. Only slightly negative thing is we like to sleep at 67 (during the day it’s set much higher), and the few nights it’s been below 67 (outside), it doesn’t cool as well.

All in all, a steady, quiet AC, that gets the job done (even though it’s a smaller BTU than the room calls for). And NO ice chunks, or the gurgling sound, and spitting of water.

I do my research when shopping. Consumer Reports rated this unit as a best buy so I purchased it. It’s been running about two months now in an upstairs bedroom. Pros: The remote works great and it cools a very hot upstairs bedroom decent but ONLY if you turn the unit to at least 64 and never turn it off.

I tried the auto feature and it just couldn’t keep up with the heat. I like that the remote turns the display OFF at night. Cons: The noise. Wow. I read other reviews mentioning it but I like white noise so thought what the heck.

The noise is from the water being flung against the condenser to evaporate. (It doesn’t drip at all – so far). It can be really, really annoying. I think it may be based on the humidity because sometimes it’s far more noticeable than other times.

After spending hours researching the many types of AC units and their reviews I chose this as my first AC purchase for the bedroom (18′ x 13′ = 234 sf. It is advertised for rooms up to 250 sf). No matter the temperature or mode setting, or how long it is running, it turns off when the room temp is 73 degrees.

One of the main reasons I picked this unit was for the lower noise rating. Being my first AC unit I have nothing to compare it to except your usual hotel AC. It isn’t much quieter. The unit is actually quietest with the fan on high which I find to be odd.

Overall, it does cool the room which would be 80 degrees without it. But considering it is advertised to maintain a temperature as low as 62 it is disappointing that the lowest room temperature obtained is 73 degrees.

This AC/Heater works great and functions exactly as it is suppose to. I have mine in a bedroom on the second floor of an old 2 story house. The second floor is always colder in the winter and warmer in the summer than the main floor.

The electric heater works great. The heater is not meant to be the sole source of heat for any room or environment, it is meant to supplement only. For those who are disappointed that this is NOT a heat pump like you would find in a hotel room.

that is your fault for not doing your research. The AC works very well. If the bedroom door is open you can feel the cool air in the hallway before you ever get near the bedroom. My only issue is with the remote control.

It stopped working right after I got it. I checked the battery and it was fine. I re-seated the battery and it worked again but only temporarily. The battery will not stay firmly seated to maintain contact which makes the remote useless, if not for that I would give it 5 stars.

I bought this item to provide heat in my house. Unfortunately, this item does not provide any heat and blows really cold. I purchased 5 off these items and returning all of them. Please look at other options if you are purchasing this item as a source of heat (primary or supplemental).

The product arrived as promised in great shape. The AC/heater unit was package well and looked great. The product was easy to install and I was able to do this with By myself. The product really looks good.

Some reviews said the heater didn’t do much, but in my 10’ by 20’ Office it heats and cools perfectly. You will be glad you purchased this unit and the price was extremely attractive.

Last summer I bought an air conditioner that was also 5000 btu. It had a digital display and remote (which is what I thought I had ordered in this one) and it wasn’t as expensive as this one. But when it was delivered, I thought I would try it any way even though it wasn’t what I thought I ordered.

After 2 days of running the new air conditioner, I am unhappy with it. It does not cool very well, and it does not work near as well as the one I bought last year. It really is not a very good air conditioner.

The best air conditioner Im purchased. Usually after the first year there is a huge difference on how the air conditioner cools but Im surprised by the way this one continues to cool my larger then normal bedroom.

I got this unit in late May (it’s currently early August), and it’s done the job so far. We only needed a smaller unit for a small room, and it generally works well enough. However, just a few weeks into using it, the AS (automatic sensor, looks like “A2” on the screen) code appeared on the screen and didn’t go away after efforts to reset.

We had to just use the fan for some days because we didn’t know what kind of weird things it would do on the Cool setting with an AS code. We just decided to turn it on again on a hot day, and ever since, the AS code sometimes flashes and goes away.

It’s been normal most of the time after that. The power and Eco buttons are a little hard to push. I wonder if the buttons are are just a little off center, and maybe that’s why? We’re adults, and we still have to press pretty hard on those two buttons to work sometimes, but all of the other buttons work well.

We have another unit just like this one, but with a higher BTU, and we got it the year before. We were so happy with that one, so that’s how we decided to get this particular unit. Our year-old unit might actually be leaking some freon, but that’s a separate issue.

Something positive is that I really like this unit when it does what it’s expected to, and I like that this remote has a screen to tell us the temperature (something our bigger unit doesn’t have, so an improvement).

I feel like it could just be isolated issues, so I do think I would purchase this brand/type again in the future.

I returned after 2 weeks. Should have returned first week. Unit extremely LOUD. Compressor would recycle even when not in eco or auto mode. louvers have minimal directional option. I was waking up at night from noise and unit was not staying cool.

I have previously purchased Frigidaire appliances including washer, dryer and dishwasher and was very happy with them. I apologize for my negative comments but unfortunately I had to exchange for a different brand.

I did research and most reviews are positive, that is why I purchased. In addition to my previous positive experience with Frigidaire appliances.

I recently bought this AC to replace a 5000btu one that was not enough to cool the space properly. My open plan space is between 450-500 sq ft. This AC cools the area fast. SO much so, I sometimes have to turn it up a higher temp to not be too chilly! The only thing I would improve is the farthest vent direction does not send the breeze towards the middle of the room.

It does circulate well, but because my windows are near walls, it is too strong on just the sofa, when I’d prefer mid-room. It took me awhile to see the directions properly on how to change the AC temp reading to F from C.

But that was a reading error. I have a feeling though that others do the same misreading – so sad it carefully. I have a narrow window [outer width is 22, but inside is 21″] and few AC’s seem able to fit unless lower BTU.

This fit perfectly without the side pieces to simply attach with the upper bar pieces to window, place foam around to fill the space. My maintenance guy was thoughtful and had white duct tape he put over that, which made it look nicer.

I love how this AC sits smoothly with the inside portion within the space of my window sill. My old one jutted out over into the room. This AC has a sleeker look. I also love having a remote.

My top complaint is that the smart features on this unit just don’t work and that was the main reason I chose this unit. Every time I give a command, Google replies that the AC is offline even though it’s on and connected to the Wi-Fi.

I don’t have the same problem with any of my other smart devices on the same Wi-Fi in the same room of the house. The signal can’t be blamed unless the AC is just very bad at picking it up. It also struggles to cool down this tiny room even though the description says it would be more than adequate to cover this square footage.

Going up in BTUs might fix that for you if you decide to buy. Third problem, the controls keep changing from what I set them at. And this is not a matter of automated controls kicking in like smart routines or smart triggers.

Sometimes I’ll click on ‘follow me’ or turn off Eco mode and 15 minutes later notice that it’s been switched. And that’s even when I’m using the remote or pressing the buttons right on the unit. The “Temperature Timeline” only worked on the first few days.

Now it’s glitching and saying that the AC has been running for thousands of hours (not kidding or exaggerating). The sleep routine never worked and that can’t be attributed to Wi-Fi issues because it would never actually save the routine to begin with.

The weather based triggers always fail to run. I would provide more photos but the relevant screenshots are inaccessible because it won’t let me get past the offline message. I would return for a refund but it’s too much trouble getting it out of the window and installing something else because of my bad back.

one issue that turned out not to be an issue was that when the air condition compressor went off because the desired temp had been met, the unit stopped vs continuing to keep the fan running. what i found out was this was because i inadvertently had the ‘smart’ or ‘eco’ temp feature turned on.

clearly to save energy, this feature will click everything off when the correct temp has been reached. which i likely will use when i go to sleep. however, when i’m in the room with the air conditioner on, i wish to have the fan remain on.

and am very happy to have discovered what was causing it to go off. i’ve noticed other reviewers thinking the fan normally stops, but that is true only when you have the energy saver mode on.

The Good- Its got a small footprint. Works good in a 20′ by 15′ room. Its energy efficient. Its 8000 BTU’s. It was packaged very well and arrived without damage. It’s Wi-Fi enabled and Has great instructions that allowed me to easily connect to my phone.

It was easily installed and worked right out of the box. The Bad- It’s got a small footprint. This is not an extremely powerful unit. The filter area is small and doesn’t completely cover the inlet area letting in debris through the open areas.

There is no room temp readout only a set to temp readout. The plastic the front of the unit is made of flimsy not very high quality plastic.

In the month of April, 2021 I bought a TCL 12. 00 BTU Energy Star Window Air Conditioner. This purchase was delivered to me very quickly to my door. The goods were packed very well. When I opened the box the Air Conditioner was in excellent condition, brand new.

I installed very easily and started off. And for over 1 month now, this TCL 12. 00 BTU Energy Star Window Air Conditioner has been working EXCELLENT FOR OUR JOY. This Air Conditioner is very high quality and elegant.

Thank you very much for a great product and a great price. We are very satisfied.

We bought another display little ac from Walmart that was awful! Noisy – hardly worked Then we remembered that the 10000 btu in my husbands shop is TCL from Walmart- and it is fabulous-turns itself off on thermostat, its quiet, it cools beautifully- and ( touch wood) its been running for 2 years.

Voila! A 6000 btu unit for sale online free delivery, fast!-easy install, – it seems to work just as well( we arent in the 90s yet I don’t think it has thermostat settings – but it has a little remote, so this is a back bedroom booster- if its freezing at 4am , just click the settings on the remote.

Perfect!.

Purchased for my daughters BR. Replaced an older unit that was much bigger with less BTU’s. The TCL is very easy to put together and install. My daughter remarked that it is very quiet and cold. Remote is great.

I left the instruction manual with her to read. not holding my breath. Hopefully lasts for a while.

I found the installation of the stylish LG 10,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner to be fairly uncomplicated. The unit comes with an installation kit, and an easy-to-use remote control. This marvelous dual inverter AC offers outstanding performance.

It has two compressors, multiple modes (including an energy savor mode), and useful smart features. The unit effectively cools a room faster and more efficiently than my previous traditional AC. The thermostat on the model is very accurate.

Temperature regulation is superb. The sleep mode turns off the unit after a set time. The fan can go in different directions. You can adjust how bright the display is, so the light doesn’t keep you awake.

I also like that the AC alerts you when its easily accessible, washable filter needs to be cleaned. This standout unit has proven to be quite energy-efficient, and I have experienced a welcome drop in my electric bill.

Additionally, this smart AC connects easily to Wi-Fi and features LG ThinQ, which works with Google Assistant and Alexa. I appreciate the ability to control the unit with the app or by just my voice.

Being able to remotely turn the AC on or off and change its temperature settings from my smartphone is a handy perk when I am away from home. I am also impressed and really happy with the noise level of the model.

Both the compressor and fan operate extremely quietly with minimal vibration even on the highest setting. Thoroughly satisfied.

This LG 8,000 BTU air conditioner is fantastic. First of all it is super quiet and efficient. It cooled my master bedroom in no time, and actually made the room smell better. {we installed new wall to wall carpeting} The dry feature actually takes the dampness out of the room on those humid 93 degree days.

The Energy Saver feature has the unit going on and off at different intervals throughout the day to regulate the temperature. It also has an “auto clean” feature that you can set that evaporates any moisture generated inside the unit that may have accumulated, thereby making it more efficient and leaving no stale scents other air conditioners get over time.

The remote control is an added feature if you don’t feel like getting out of bed to change the temp in the room, or turn the unit off or on. I haven’t used the wifi feature from my phone so can’t comment on that.

Overall this will not disappoint! One side note, it has 3 settings F1 F2 F3 for power, with F3 being the highest, it isn’t full force in your face, but it apparently doesn’t have to be. because the room is cooled in no time.

I’m guessing the inverter is responsible for that. Its a weird phenomenon but it works! I highly recommend this unit! I used to buy Freidrich but now I am all LG!!!.

I bought this is May 2022 and it is doing a great job cooling my upstairs 300 sq foot bedroom. It is pretty quiet and pumps out some cold air. Having a remote is convenient, as is the ability for it to connect to the Smart HQ Smartphone App.

The latter shows how much electricity it has used each day along with changing settings like temperature and fan speed. My only complaint would be the grill which directs the air flow. It only allows you to change the vertical direction.

It would be nice if it also had a lever so air could be directed more to one side or the other. Now, this unit replaced a different GE Model I bought in July 2021 that lost all its refrigerant (apparently) over the winter.

(GE did refund me the entire purchase price of original. ) I will update this review, if possible, if I have the same issue with this one.

One can hear where this unit would be ULTRA quiet if properly assembled. This unit was factory reconditioned but someone didn’t do a sound check!!! It rattles so loud that you would never be able to sleep.

If my son physically lifts on the unit, the rattling stops. To be clear, it’s coming from inside the unit not the window. He had to rig a support under it, from the floor up, and pad it with a big towel to keep constant pressure on the unit so it doesn’t rattle loud enough to wake the dead.

He called GE and they said contact the people I’d bought it from. He contacted them and they were sold out. So, as a consumer I’m forced by both the seller and GE to either return and buy a whole different unit, or live with it.

GE is NOT the corporation it once was.

if there was a option to give 0 Stars I would select it. I purchased this window unit for a small shop that I work in and meticulously kept it clean and returned it to its original box during winter after cleaning it thoroughly and yet it completely failed after one season.

It won’t even come on it’s totally dead and now I am looking at alternative brands that don’t seem to have such a high failure rate within the first two years which is unacceptable. I’ve owned other Frigidaire products that are part of the giant Corporation that makes multiple brands under the same corporate entity and had trouble even when purchasing be Frigidaire gold Line which is supposed to be the best they can offer.

Yes, I could probably fix this unit because I’m an HVAC technician and licensed/ bonded electrician, but I shouldn’t have to, and I’m not going to. Unless Frigidaire essentially just provides a replacement I will probably buy LG or Samsung possibly even Bosch Brands exclusively from now on avoiding any product associated with Frigidaire.

I am asked almost daily by homeowners what I recommend as far as brands that produce quality products and if there is a problem will stand behind their products making certain the situation is rectified to the satisfaction of the consumer.

Unfortunately this is an ever-changing list that I will suggest. I won’t recommend anything that is unproven or is a new model that has not been on the market long enough to determine its reliability but if I know a company’s customer service reliably satisfies situations where their product has failed I will make a point of mentioning that.

If I had to say whether or not I would recommend any Frigidaire air conditioning units at this moment the answer is probably not but I am going to find out what Frigidaire will do to rectify this situation and based on that perhaps I will update my review if the issue is resolved to my satisfaction.

CAUTION! Think carefully before ordering this unit. At this price point it should be something spectacular. It is NOT. I was personally drawn by the idea of the remote thermostat, which is indeed included.

However, the technology used is so far out of date it is laughable. Using the same principle of your old fashioned TV remote (vs. say, wifi) the remote must have a direct line-of-site to the ac unit to keep “communicating” with each other.

OTHERWISE, YOU HAVE AN EVERYDAY 8000 BTU DIGITAL AC UNIT! Additioanlly, the blower is unnecessarily loud at all speeds. This does provide excellent airflow, which may be a benefit for those in larger rooms.

The unit does cool a large room very fast and does maintain an 80 setting very well. I cannot attest to any other setting as 80 is my preference living in SW Florida. The EPA may like the back of the unit filling with water to “splash and cool” the coils, I DO NOT.

Mold and gunk builds up real fast and makes the air smell very bad, so I will be drilling a drain hole asap. Frigidaire made great freezers and fridges for years, really should have stuck with one thing.

Do one thing and do it well. NEVER should have ended up with Electrolux. Like so many once great company’s, well, enough said. Think Twice on This.

If you like simple this unit is as simple as it gets. Does what it should blows cold air. Not that noisy on low or high. It doesn’t rattle unit seems to be tight for the most part. Now the only thing I think they went to cheap on was the vents that control air flow.

They only adjust left to right, no up or down movement. To me that seems a little to cheap but like I said it doesn’t rattle. It would still be nice to be able to control the up and down position of the vent air flow.

Case seem to be painted well and it is made from metal not plastic. Compressor is China and so is fan motor but looked up name and it seems to be one of the better China compressor. Shaft that operates the blower cage seems to be positioned good and balanced so there is little to no vibration.

One plus I give GE is that it does have a drain hole on the unit so you can decide if you want the water to be splashed on the coils for a 2 percent better cooling. Most other units don’t give this option and the water hitting the fan blades will drive you crazy if installed in a bedroom.

So far a decent low budget unit.

I bought this for a small window in a small bedroom. It fit by using only the wing frame on one side and no wing on the other. I knew I’d need additional weather stripping, and the wide white kind worked well between the windows and along the side.

It was not difficult to install. It cools well. On cool mode, the fan runs continuously with the cooling element cycling on and off. It’s not noticeable to me while I’m sleeping. If only a fan is wanted, a box fan in a different window draws more air, but the a/c pulls air through the filter.

I recommend this air conditioner.

It is so easy to install, I did it myself while 7 months pregnant. It’s for a toddlers room and it does it’s job in minutes. 10 is obviously the coolest setting, 1 is the warmest. We keep it at appx a 7/8 during the NJ summer months.

It’s easy to clean and maintain and very simple to use. Make sure you do not EVER have anything covering the front of it. Ever. I’d you keep up with cleaning and changing the filters, it’ll last you several years.

Couldn’t have chosen a better model and trust me when I say, we looked at over 25 models just for her room. (Oh, and we bought a second for our second child:) ).

Purchaced in May2018. It cooled pretty well and wasn’t too loud. Materials were cheap. The front plastic cover is very thin and bends like crazy when you have to pop it off to clean the filter. After just shy of 3 months it developed a loud high pitched whistle sound, that was annoying inside and very loud outside.

you could hear it from the other side of the house outside! It only made the sound with the compressor running. A couple days later that sound interchanged with a sound from the unit that sounded like a dog was barking outside in the distance.

It either did one or the other. Fortunately this developed about 3 days before my 90 days walmart return warrantee. I rushed it back to the store and after a 90 minute hassle where everybody was calling everybody to figure out how to get me the refund (bought it on walmart.

com, but was returning it to the walmart it was delivered to), I finally (I think) got the money put back on my credit card (they say). Hope so! Bought another brand at Home Depot to replace it.

Great air unit. This baby bumps. Not super heavy and easy to install. I do it with my husband and I let him do most the work lol I’ve had it over 2 years now and it lasts and still works like day 1. Air comes out clean and crisp.

We have not been using this air conditioner very long but so far we love it. It is quiet and puts out nice cold air. It done not have a thermostat just an old fashioned low medium and high which is fine for us.

It is not very heavy and installation was easy. Overall we are impressed with the performance of this A/C.

Sorry for the delay but we had a lovely cools spell and I didn’t want to rate it on only about 23 hours of operation. It’s cooling as I type, and it can easily do my 15x20ish living room and then some.

Please understand this is a very basic AC, no remote or digital display. You can’t set it to maintain a particular temperature but there are 7 coolng levels. The fan will stay on unless you shut it off, though the condenser will shut on and off as it maintains the level you have set.

Why I’m not giving it five stars: The little white thingies you turn on the dials are not clearly marked as to which end is pointing at what. I marked them with a pen. I guess the installation instructions are merely a suggestion.

If I put the AC bottom rail in the track of the bottom double-hung window and the top rail attached to the AC against the bottom of the raised window, the AC was too level and would not drain. I found this out because I moved the AC to another window.

Not only did I have a wet hand but a largish puddle on my carpet. I now have the AC installed with the bottom rail not in the window track but on the interior side of the track. Of course then the pullout sides don’t align, but then they rarely do, so a little tape and plastic covered any holes.

Bought a name brand 5k btu elsewhere and returned it the next week. I’ve had this through 2 months of summer heat and this one blew it out of the water. Install kit was way better. Cools my 12×14′ room in about 20 mins.

If I leave my bedroom door open, it will noticeably cool the down stairs living room. When I first turned it on I thought the fan was on high, but that was actually the low setting. This thing can really move air.

Really like the directional vents and that it has a dark mode. Only reason it’s not a 5 star is it lets tons of light through the vents. (I work 2nd shift and block my windows out so I can sleep). I took it apart and lined the Styrofoam with aluminium tape.

The fans a bit loud, which I don’t mind but, I think a lot of people do. Overall, absolutely happy with this unit.

I have two Noma window air conditioners. Noma is owned by Canadian Tire. The air conditioners run fine but it is the remotes I have had issues with. I see that the remotes are a different style in the newer models.

Both of my remotes do not work. I purchased one Noma Air Conditioner but did not take it out of the box until the following summer. The remote did not work right out of the box. I contacted Noma, which owned by Canadian Tire and I was told that I could not purchase replacement remotes, as Noma doesn’t sell them.

Pretty bad when you can’t purchase a replacement remote. When it comes time to replace these air conditioners, I will be researching service after the sale. But I won’t be purchasing Noma Air Conditioners in the future.

nice air conditioner for a 5000 BTU. Was a pain to install widow kit. Also was very small in size compared to units bought 3 years ago. Easy to lift. Using in a 9×10 room works fine to cool in combination with the central air.

mainly bought for the sound of running to enable sleeping to drown outside road noise. Also not too heavy for the vinyl windows when mounted.

This is a great unit for a very affordable price. I bought it for my bedroom which is a finished attic. The only downfall I found is that it does not have a temperature gage to click the unit off, thus is continues to run until you manually shut it off.

— I found using a programmable timer eliminates this problem. I can have it set to turn on a hour before I come home from work, and turn off a couple of hours after I go to sleep. Also, remember to remove the rubber cap off the back before installation.

If you live in a humid location, the water will start to smell after awhile. – I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking for an affordable fix to cooling a room.

This unit uses a manual numbered dial for setting temperature rather than a temp dial or digital readout so maintaining a specific temperature is trial and error. There is no outside air ventilation option, and no remote control.

Unit is reasonably quiet and cools nicely. Cools an upstairs 10 X 12 room easily. Easy to install. Power consumption seems low.

The remote does not display functions , only the temperature which is not accurate, so when you want to use it you don’t know what mode it’s going to because your display on the AC is too small which is part of the problem.

From a distance in the same room you cannot see the AC display. I have been using Friedrich air conditioners for the last 20 years and they give excellent cool air, but after five or so years they tend to have repair issues , but when they are working good they are excellent and their remote control Is simple and excellent , and will let you know exactly, on both the AC unit and remote control, displays, what mode it is going to Even from across the room , plus they add a little stand for the remote.

But this time I wanted to try your company because my PC Richard representative said to try your company. I am using their remote as an example to let you know that it is possible that your remotes can function properly like the Friedrich Remote control.

Mostly identical in size and also use two AA batteries like yours. I would love to send you pictures of their remote and their AC display so maybe you can improve your products. Thank you for asking for my feedback which shows me you’re a company that wants to hear from your customers.

Also, I just thought that another big problem with your company compared to friedrich , is when you call for advice or For information , it’s very hard to get a representative Without having to press numerous prompts.

With Friedrich , they have one phone number and you can always get a representative within minutes without having to press numerous prompts.

IšverstiShow in original languageDO NOT! And I repeat DO NOT purchase a Frigidaire air conditioner. I purchased a Frigidaire 6000 btu in June 2020 from PC Richard. It functioned perfectly through 2020 and 2021.

I placed it back in operation on 6/1/22. The unit displays a “CS” error code indicating a condenser sensor fault. It’s obviously out of warranty but after a weeks research a half dozen air conditioner repair shops will not even look at a Frigidaire air conditioner.

The reason is that repair parts are not available. I called Frigidaire and their parent company Electrolux and verified that, in fact, a replacement condenser sensor is not available. So now a not quite two year old air conditioner is garbage for the lack of a Chinese made $20.

00 sensor. That’s ridiculous. I wouldn’t recommend purchasing a Frigidaire product from PC Richard or any other retailer for the matter.

IšverstiShow in original languageReplaced my old, incredibly noisy 12,000 BTU Frigidaire with this unit. The old one had a MUCH larger control panel that was 10 times easier to read than this unit. In daylight you cannot see the LED green light here to know where you are in the cool/fan cycle – the text and images are that small.

It’s barely visible at night. we need to jerryrig a canopy to cover the top of the machine so we have darkness to read the controls by when they light up. The remote hasn’t been upgraded in years and does not provide that information.

It’s quieter than the previous unit, but the poorly designed , badly placed control panel (much lower down on the unit, so when the unit is under the window, you have to squat down to read it) give it a D+ rating.

And this unit was close to $600. Would not purchase again. Need a unit I can have easy visual access to.

Love the WiFi remote capabilities and variety of settings. I did have some issues with installation. The unit came dented (not necessarily July’s fault, I know things happen during shipping/delivery).

One of the tracks on the bottom of the unit was bent out of shape, making it really difficult to install on my own. Additionally, I think there could be improvements made to the window frame. the pull-out shades on either side of the unit to fit the window are a bit flimsy and don’t provide any insulation from the outdoors (or insects).

Installing the unit through the window frame was also difficult because the frame’s two pieces kept coming apart. I really like the concept of a customizable front panel design, but I think there’s room for improvement in how the removable plate is attached.

It’s magnetic, but one of the magnets fell off and now the panel often rattles quite loudly when the unit is in use. Overall, I’m pretty satisfied with my purchase, but I think improvement upon some of the above items would really elevate how great the July unit is.

“I preordered the small one in February – this one I had installed by the July people in my bedroom, which was so quick and easy for me. It was so important for me to get a physically and visually unobtrusive because the side of the foot of my bed is necessarily about six inches from that window.

This was perfect. I like that the auto setting makes sense and isn’t arbitrary. I like that I can actually find the remote on my nightstand. Criticisms in the middle: this is as hard or harder for one normal person to install or remove by themselves than a regular ac.

It’s fine, absolutely doable, but it’s not as easy as advertised. It’d be super easy with a co-star. SECOND one. So the bedroom on was great, but I still work at home. Luckily when I broke down and finally went ac shopping for my living room (there is no door between that and my kitchen, so I needed to account for the extra space sucking away the cold), the large July was available for 30 seconds.

I did shop around for this one, because I didn’t NEED something so pretty and did need something effective. It’s cheaper than the very heavy utilitarian ones, and is perfect (the space it cools is about 310 sqft).

Same everything else as above. This one was hard, physically and emotionally to put in, but isn’t coming back out (the plexiglass sides are great but were hard for me to put in totally straight. “.

Set up was easier than some other ACs but not as easy as they make it seem. My first unit didn’t work – it was annoying waiting for the new one but customer service was great. I don’t like that there’s a small gap underneath the unit and my window frame (this might be different with other windows).

It doesn’t cool as effectively as I’d like – though had this issue with another AC in the same room so it might be something with the room. Happy overall with it but was a bit disappointed from my expectations.

Summer has been no joke this year! I purchased this unit because, literally, every other choice had been nabbed. It functions as it should and is keeping me alive; for that I am grateful. Its manual functions are simple: low and high cool and low and high fan, with a temp range from 1-7.

pretty basic. There’s no “effeciency” feature. it just keeps blowing until you shut it off. It’s not loud. the sound it makes serves as white noise for me that I’m able to sleep through without bother.

For the price, it’s not a bad unit.

We were looking for a small air conditioner for our 11×19 storage/cabin. It had to fit a small window only 22in. wide. We serched several stores including Lowes & Home Depot, but know one had a AC unit that would fit the window size.

But this fit the bill exactly with a little room to spare. It’s perfect for the room size and keeps it nice and cool, haven’t even used the hi cool. The temperatures here in Bend Oregon are usually in the hi 80 & 90 this time of the year.

Works great until 100 degrees heat hits for multiple days in a row. Although I didn’t turn it all the way to max cool, I use the low cool settings mostly. Turned it to high but it didn’t make a huge difference.

Cool air doesn’t necessarily distribute evenly. Should’ve gone w/ a digital temp reader. But it was worth the price and comes with everything you could need other than a screwdriver.

In this review, I will make comparisons to a four-year-old LG 8,000 BTU window air conditioner which the GE unit replaced. The LG unit is still available, but was not in stock locally, so I had to change brands.

Overall, the size, functionality, performance, appearance, and installation of the GE and LG units are very similar. The GE fan seems a bit noisier than the LG’s; the GE compressor seems a bit quieter.

Outside noise is modest and should not bother anyone except a neighbor who is too close for comfort. Eco mode cycles are longer with the GE than with the LG, both for off time and for fan-only to sense the air.

This may produce slightly larger temperature swings. The GE remote has greater range than does the LG remote, and it works from an angle almost perpendicular to the face of the unit. The GE has no ventilation or fresh-air capability.

This design probably results in better isolation of the inside from outside dust and humidity. I never used the feature on the LG, but if you need fresh air, take note. I was able to re-use two of the four screw holes that position the left and right-side curtain frames.

I had one problem mounting the GE unit into my 1975-era Anderson windows. The vertical alignment of the top mounting rail vis a vis the bottom mounting rail was off by about 1/4″. As a result, the air conditioner tipped slightly backward, toward the house.

That is undesirable. After considering various alternatives, I settled on using a large pair of slip-joint pliers to bend the top mounting rail toward the room. I proceeded gradually, and used a washcloth to protect the finish.

With the top mounting rail bent about twenty-degrees, the outside now tilts away from the house sufficiently to ensure proper operation. Whether this problem is unique to my window I cannot say. The GE unit includes Wi-Fi connectivity.

I do not need it, and so did not test it. Bottom line: The GE unit is ok and does the job.

For 18000 BTU with 220V Air Conditioners there are limited choice in the market and what whatever choice available in the market is costlier and I have selected this GE AC because it was on deal and price was $ 539.

99. Cooling of this Air Conditioner is very good and this cooling effect will be better if I install exhaust fain in Attic and good insulation in the Attic and that I do not have installed yet. Now a days WIFI features are very common in almost all devices.

I have installed ” Comfort GE Appliances” from Play store and that app works fine but rating of this app is 2. 3 stars. This App will not detect device when I click on the app Icon for the first time and when I click second time on the App icon then this App will detect my GE AC.

With remote control and with Android App of GE, I can control functions of this GE AC. The sound of this GE AC is noticeable when it is on high speed or Auto mode, it means sound of fan of the AC is more than other model.

Further I availed this installation facility from P C Richard and that was too costly and for installation of AC, I required insurance liability certificate from P C Richards as it was required by my apartment management.

P C Richards took over two weeks to issue required insurance certificate and that process was irritating for me. P C Richard team does pre installation survey before installation of Air conditioner and I paid $ 54.

44 for that service and that amount should be refundable once PC Richards team does installation of Air conditioner. After two weeks of installation of AC, still I have not received refund of that charge of $ 54.

As far as functionality goes, this product works as expected. Its an AC unit, it blows cold air and starts very quickly, I’m very happy in this area. GE hit the nail on the head. However the implementation of the smart features I found to be very challenging.

I grew up in the digital era so the concept of pairing a device with wifi is not a new concept. With this product, the engineer who designed it must have clearly said to himself “this is not broke but let me fix it anyhow.

” The instructions to pair the unit to your Wifi are followed through the app on your mobile device and are are abysmal; related product reference photos are out of date with this model. Further this unit only seems to pair with WiFi in the 2.

4Ghz band, for most this might not be an issue, but for others using updated WiFi technology as in Wifi 5 or Wifi 6 (using 5Ghz band) this could be an issue for them. I also say “seems” because the app showed my Wifi 5/6 SSIDs as available for pairing but the 45+ minutes I tried to get this to work finally made be realize it must not be supported.

It would have saved me much time to state the tech limitations upfront or have the app recognize this and push a pop-up message to alert the user. I am also an iOS user, perhaps this experience is different with Android.

Which reminds me HomeKit is not supported with this unit, not a show stopper for me but maybe for others. Rating the overall unit to include all features, solely for this PITA setup, I am not giving this unit a 5 star rating and give the features 1 star.

However if I had to rate the unit solely on its mechanical operations I would gladly give it 5 stars.
