15 Best Low Profile Truck Tool Box (2023 Updated)

Sturdy and rattle free, fits my lifan 2500 generator thru the door ez. The lock rattles a little when unlatched but that’s inherent with this type of lock. I tightened it and it doesnt rattle while locked now.

It is soo sturdy. Took me hours to cut a large hole with tin snips. Cutting it with a grinder cutoff wheel is almost harder to do than steel, since the aluminum just folds and melts over basically. If you add more locks, it could take a thief 30 mins to cut into this box bc it’s so thick.

So it’s a great box. Waterproof, and rain drains thru the door hinge if you leave the door open in the rain, great design. The logo comes off easily. Nothing negative to sayabout it. Nice looking welds.

It’s not perfectly square, though.

My first order came in beaten and with a damaged hinge. Door was very hard to close and product was not accepted. TSC returned the box and refunded my purchase. This was the second order and it came in without any damage.

Box is solid and should perform well.

I purchased four Buyers Product tool boxes. I can’t say enough about how well they were made. The welds were flawless. The doors fit well and everything is square and uniform and best of all they are made in the USA.

Ordered 2 boxes. 1 box came in 2 days and tho other came in 3 days. They showed up locked. Had to pick the locks to get them open. Other than that, they are well built and will work fine

Seem to work great, won’t know how well they do in weather until they get poured on or snowed on or run through a wash. Other than that they hold all of my ratchets, tie downs, chains, binders and other necessities.

I wish they had 18″ deep X 12″ high X 24 wide, that would have been better but these work back closer to my rear tires instead of up by the step on my flatbed trailer.

Delivered with no dents or scatches,excellent quality product. All the hardware and fabrication are top notch. Best built tool box that I have looked at, could not be happier. Bought a pair and all locks were keyed the same.

I do metal work and this is well made.

Tool box was as offered, very nice, better than I expected. Installed with no real problems, just where it was located on the truck bolt hole was right on a seam, little grinding on the truck and it was done.

Really very happy with the product, arrived on time.

Dont do many reviews but had to on this quality built box. Well worth the money. Comparison to boxes twice as much. Using it as as generator box. Modications still to be done but pics reflect it mounted.

Although this Tool box is nice looking and easy to install it is so cheaply made. It arrived with a dent in the curve of the lid which can’t be fixed. So rather then looking at it every time I get in my truck I had to install the box backwards so the dent would be on the passenger side.

It’s very flimsy. Should of re-painted my old steel box and saved the money.

My husband loves this storage box. It fit his truck perfectly. Delivery was on time and no damage on the box. Truck driver helpful in transferring it into back of my husbands truck.

The diamond plate looks great, box fit great and it has durable construction. I just installed it about a month ago, but I don’t for see any issues with it. Very happy and it adds a nice touch to the truck.

After looking at tool boxes for my new truck for a month or more, I finally settled on this and am happy I did. Luckily right before I was going to buy it, it went on sale 20% off! Only been a week, but the box seems well built and the extra features like the upgraded handles and the top rail compare with others far more expensive.

Love the rugged look with the rail and the handles and even the locks/keys seem so much more reliable and heavy duty than the box with paddle handles I had on my old truck. Not sure I’d put something as heavy as a fully loaded cooler on top, but would have no problem with a large bag or something similar.

The extra space it offers for trips or large loads is helpful. I do have a couple of tips Some mentioned having to mount the box a little further back in the bed to keep the rail from hitting the back window when opened all the way.

That is true, but only maybe 1. 5-2″ or so. However since I did not want to give up even that much additional bed space, I mounted flush against the cab side of the bed and used a chain to only allow the lid to open just far enough without hitting the glass.

Still have plenty of room to get stuff in and out no problem. Also to keep the tray from sliding back and forth while driving (which you can hear), I just used those felt pads you put on the bottom of chair legs stuck to the side rails to hold the tray in place.

If you need to get under it, you just lift it over the pads and slide. Wanted to add pics, but site was picky and wouldn’t accept them.

Great toolbox. I can close the lid from either side of the truck. The only problem was the driver side lock had a small problem. After I locked each lock with the key the next day the driver side lock would not unlock.

So I unlocked the passenger side lock and opened the up the toolbox. I removed the bad lock by by removing a small screw with 1″ locking bar and a small “C” clip ring. This let me remove the locking cylinder from the handle and inspect it.

From my inspection I found small pieces of metal in the tumbler and grease. I cleaned off all the grease with metal in it, cleaned out the tumbler cylinder applied new grease. Reinstalled in reverse and tested.

Test Sat. Lock and and key work great! I like that you only have to unlock one lock to open the toolbox.

You’ll note in other reviews about the gap that you’ll have to leave between the front wall of your bed and the tool box, and this is true. I’m going to come up with a filler panel and weather strip for that gap since my plan is to also have a soft roll up tonneau cover from the tool box to the tailgate so that I can have dry storage in the bed while pulling our camper.

Installation of this box is very simple since they provide 4 slots on each side of the box. You will not drill any holes into your tool box or truck, you will simply purchase any of the available toolbox mounting clamps, choose the slots that you want to use to mount with and clamp the unit to your bed rails.

Simple and easy. The latch system works easily to open the box from outside of the bed and the very solid lid and full width hinge mean that you can latch it from outside the bed as well. I will not comment in the locks since I do not live where I would ever lock it.

My old box that I removed still had the keys zip tied inside of the box from 2017, this one will be the same. The included drawer in the unit very sturdy, I do like this much more than my old Dee Zee box, the drawer was cheap and thin and would sag and fall.

This box all around appears to be “Better Built” including the thicker aluminum, so this one should last a long time and not dent and deform so easily.

I did a lot of research when seeking out a new tool box for my 2021 GMC 2500. Read a lot of reviews, looked at pictures, and took measurements to ensure that I was making the right decision. Took me a bit to pull the trigger on this box, but I’m glad I did.

It is well-constructed and looks amazing. The press button opening function on the handles is super nice because I can open it from either side of the side of the truck without having to get into the bed.

I elected not to purchase the ladder because the truck has a side step there already. The top opens so that it falls in line with the back of the box, so it can be mounted all the way to the back of the bed and it won’t hit the window or camera.

Tie-down anchor points are a nice touch too. Only criticisms I have are with the mounting hardware and the D-Box mounts. While I like the longer V-shaped connection hardware (which has a bolt welded to it to help prevent theft and definitely makes for easier installation), I wish the bolt itself was more protected with a metal shroud or collar.

I’d also like to move the D-Box to the passenger side of the box, and in its current configuration with the mounts, I can’t do that. If Decked has a solution, I’m all ears. Otherwise, this box is legit and worth the money! Nicely done.

I have used Camlocker truck boxes for about 20 years. First on our trucks at work and a few personal ones as well. The one bought recently uses the same heavy aluminum and locking system which is the best in the industry.

I researched brands and decided the Camlocker had the highest quality fit and finish. Oh yes , the price was right as well.

satisfied with it. can’t see it in the rear view mirror or out the back window. no clearance problems with trailers. especially like the camlocker handles instead of a push button. can’t quit figure why they put carpet in a tool box?.

Elite truck had the best price. Fright was better than the factory. The box came very quickly and not a scratch on it. It performs better than expected, the best box on market.

These boxes are amazing. This is our third locking toolbox for our mobile delivery service. We have had the other two for more than 2 years, and they really do last a long time. Good quality and perfect for locking up your valuables.

Long shipping wait and came damaged. We were not even able to open the door. Keys were locked inside the compartment. After picking the lock still would not open due to damage. Horrible shipping packaging.

After a lot of looking I decided on this heavy well made box. They had the very best price I could find even on the same tool box. I would buy another one if needed. The welded brackets to go with it are very heavy duty.

I bought this box because of quality and economy. The box looks great and is functional. I bough this box for a weekend truck. The box doesn’t need to be super heavy duty. The bad thing is everyone wants to charge a heavy duty price.

It’s a good box. It looks great. It should last me the life of that truck.

Great price. Lightweight and easy to install, yet very Sturdy. Had some nicks and scratches to the finish, but overall, a great purchase. My husband loves it! It Would have been nice if it had included mounting hardware, but a return trip to the store was required to find “j” hooks to install.

(Only found out what hardware works best after watching a YouTube video).

DONT BUY. Bought this a few months ago. Just installed a couple weeks ago. Gas struts for the lid failed in 2 weeks of purchase. Oil leaked from them and they no longer function. Junk quality. Called tractor supply.

They didnt want to help but rather transferred me over to dee zee which refused to help either. Wont be buying any more boxes form TSC or Dee Zee branded boxes for the work trucks.

Bought this box based on my experience with weatherguard in past. Quality is long gone. This box feels cheap, doesn’t close properly and the locks do not work properly. Literally have to slam the box shut 4-5 time to get it to actually close, driver side lock is incredibly stiff and feels like the key will snap off if you turn the lock.

The box flexes like crazy, definitely not the weather guard quality I recall from the past and that’s expected on a near $1000. 00 box. I would’ve been better off buying a cheap no name box over this one.

I bought this box today, I hope it lasts as long as my last one. I bought a dual lid in 2011 and has been awesome, the locking mechanism was what drew me to the product. I’m highly disappointed that Weather Guard changed there lock system.

I really hopeful that the new system performs as a deterant like the old system.

I have owned 6 weather gaurd boxes over the years, the quality is always great. Sure they are expensive but you get what you pay for. Everything else is a cheap toy that constantly has issues. I don’t get paid to screw with my tool box all day.

Pay the money and it hurts for a day, get a cheap toy and pay every day!.

Good box with good space. Color is more graphite gray which was nice. Only downfall is the box has opened twice on its after going over a bumpy stretch of road.

I Love the graffite gray, It goes perfect with my truck. The handles are great i like them better then the paddle ones. Although the tractor supply sign in the front is plastic and seems to be mounted on poorly, and for the money, it seriously shoud come with lights and a tool Tray.

Other then that its perfect for me.

Great looking box, sturdy handles and dry inside. Slots allow for easy mounting with threaded hooks available at TSC or any hardware store. Specifically chose this box for the dark gray color, unique and looks sharp on my lead foot gray F150, matches the magnetic gray accent grill perfectly.
