20 Best Low Fat Dry Dog Food (2023 Updated)

I’ve had 2 bad experiences with this food. My Maltipoo had pancreatitis and the vet has been pushing this food onto me to give him. First time he seemed to not mind but not love the wet food, so I tried the dry bits and his little teeth had a hard time with the kibble and he spit out the life source bits.

So I went back to the wet food, by then he decided he hated this food altogether and literally would rather starve than eat the food. I even put broth and chicken in it and he turned his nose up at it.

Thankfully the vet will take this back and get him on a different food. I do not recommend this food for a finicky eater.

My poor pup has been ill since April with a variety of problems. She had even given up eating her homecooked chicken and quinoa which she normally loved. She had been on a prescription food most of her life but would no longer eat it.

After trying several others I was thrilled at how she has taken to this food. She’s even begun to gain a little weight! She is prone to pancreatitis and the low fat is a real plus.

My dog likes this food. She has been selective with kibble in the past. My veterinarian recommended this low fat food. My only dissatisfaction from my purchase with Chewy was the shipping time. When I initially placed my order, the shipping time was 3 days to arrive.

However, it turned into 7 days. This turned into a major inconvenience because I ran out of her previous bag of food.

My dog started to gain a good bit of weight after being neutered and he was no longer as active as he had been prior. He quickly gained weight and I tried various things to help him slim down without success.

We were walking daily but he started to sit down and refuse to continue while out on a walk. He also seemed to lose energy and did not want to play or run around anymore, which contributed to even more weight gain.

After having him on this food for several weeks he started to get a little bit more energy back and gradually started to slim down some. He started to play a little bit more and has gradually increased the length of walks he will go on before he is done.

It has been a few months since starting this food now and there is a noticeable difference in his weight and body appearance. He seems happier and healthier and I am glad I decided to give this a try!.

I’ve been buying Iam’s Healthy Weight for close to a year now, both on and offline. My pooch Norman got spoiled WAY too much, and I knew I needed to make changes to his diet to get my buddy back on track.

I have 2 senior beagles. I’m a senior myself and needed a good dog food that’s for weight control. Also needed something reasonably priced, the one I was using for them the price kept going up. So far they arevtolerating this.

I changed the rebiotic as well. Was using ark naturals but consistently alot of the bag would be crumbled when i opened it. Loved it but not paying that if they dont change something. I switched to nutrivet so we will see.

Beagles love eating things outside you really have to watch, these sure help digestive system for sure.

This product is excellent for having your fur baby shed pounds, My 3-year-old Pomeranian was terribly overweight at over 18 pounds. My Veterinarian recommended this food for her, under her supervision of course.

Followed her instructions on how to feed her. I was skeptical at first. To my amazement, my little one lost over 8 pounds. My Veterinarian is so Happy for my baby. She is More Energetic and More Healthier.

She will soon get off this food entirely, as I have to mix it gradually with her original for 7 days until she is on her original food again. I want to thank Hills Prescription Diet r/d for a wonderful food for weight loss.

Our Breeze is a mixed breed with a thyroid condition who should be around 65 lbs. Sadly he was 96 lbs when we adopted him in Aug of 2019 and didn’t have any success losing on a different brand of food.

In Sep 2020, our vet recommended we switch to Hill’s Perfect Weight. He steadily slimmed down to 80 lbs in a year. Unfortunately, towards the end of Sep 2021, Breeze’s weight loss stalled and he was constantly hungry but still had more to loose.

Our vet recommended giving R/D a try and Breeze resumed losing and is perfectly happy between meals. At 69 lbs he’s got a few more lbs to shed but we will continue with this food to supplement his diet even after he’s hit his goal weight.

We love this food for our overweight dog. We rotate between all the prescription dry foods (hills metabolic, royal canin satiey support, Purina OM) each bag. The rd seems to be the lowest calories out of them all.

My dog has lost over 8 pounds on prescription food without having to reduce her dog food portions to an insane tiny amount. Keeps her full. I notice with any prescription low calorie food that the dog poop is always a larger amount due to the fiber.

Chewy has the best prices for our little dogs food. She started out at 17 pounds and needs to be at 6-7 pounds. The bet mentioned once she looses the weight needed we will need to keep her on this for awhile after but adjust her portion to slightly more for weight maintaince.

The only complaint I have is chewy sent hills b/d script food the first time instead of hills r/d. A quick phone call to chewy and of course they fixed it. I was able to donate the hills b/d to a local rescue that actually fed this food to one of their foster dogs.

Our dear miniature Schnauzer has been on the low-fat formula for years to ease her issues with Pancreatitis and now Diabetes. She was thriving well, few pancreatitis flare-ups, good body condition, happy and otherwise in great shape because of her low-fat diet.

Unfortunately, we have just discovered that we were given the wrong Gastrointestinal formula, by mistake. My husband thought the bag was different but couldn’t figure out how. It turns out that the line “Low Fat” (Dry Dog Food) was missing.

There is a difference in fat content between the two versions of Gastrointestinal. Our dog has been under intensive care for over a week now with a flare-up of serious proportions. The two versions of Gastrointestinal are so easy to mix up.

Perhaps Royal Canin could change the photo of the dog on the Low-Fat version and stipulate “Low-Fat Gastrointestinal” for visually motivated people. This may help owners and pooches in the future. A large, red sticker across the front of the bag would help until you can make a proper change to packaging.

Vet clinics are so busy these days. We also miss the low fat treats that have now been discontinued. What a shame.

My Chihuahua had to change foods because Hill’s Science Diet wet food she needed was not available right now and my vet recommended Royal Canin. So in changing her over to their wet food, I also saw they had gastrointestinal dry food as well.

She loves it. It’s different from the Hill’s Science Diet W/D formula she was on, and both the new wet & dry gastrointestinal food has made for much better bowel movements for her. And less gas on her stomach.

It seems to be working out very well. This dry formula is low calorie which is good and makes up for the high calorie puppy wet food. I would like to see an adult wet formula of gastrointestinal that is not high calorie.

That way I wouldn’t have to take her off of it. I don’t want her gaining weight.

My little guy is a 10 pound toy poodle who is maybe the fussiest, pickiest eater on the planet. He’s not even interested in human food, doesn’t like boiled chicken, and the only fruit he’ll eat is *sweet* mango.

Not regular mango, it needs to be perfectly ripe, *sweet* mango. His palette is the bane of my existence because he regularly skips meals, gives himself acid reflux, and throws up bile. I increased the number of meals to 3-4x a day, only leaving the bowl down for 10-15 minutes before picking it back up again, used meal toppers, tried cooking food for him, etc.

but none of that has worked. Long story short, this little guy will sometimes eat this kibble mixed with Ollie (one of those subscription “human-grade dog food” brands that costs an arm and a leg and is probably more nutritious than anything I eat) – which is a resounding SUCCESS in my book.

I don’t know what it is about the flavor/smell of this food, but he will nibble occasionally at it and I could not be happier. Highly recommend this for picky eaters with gastrointestinal issues! In regards to the delivery, Chewy was very quick to contact the vet and ship the kibble over – very happy overall with every component of this experience.

Some people are so sensitive about their dogs being “labeled fat” to the detriment of the dogs they claim to love. Not our household. Facing & keeping the issue of obesity/being overweight front & center (by directly stating the problem in the name of this food) is important for those who want to minimize all the health problems that come with obesity (joint destruction/pain, coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, insulin resistance / resulting kidney function decline & failure, & more).

That the 1st two ingredients are meat meals suggest a dense protein source, which I like. I also like that the bag is relatively more biodegradable / sustainable (lower plastic content) than other all-plastic food bags.

We use this food in addition to conditioning/aerobic activity for our youngest who has a tendency to eat more than they need. To try to increase the sensation of satiety, at least in the short term, prior to feeding, their FatDogs kibble is soaked for 20+ minutes in warm water or meat broth, supplementing with small amounts of cooked meats (usually fish or chicken) + omega/fish oil.

This kibble is also used as training treats on its own or mixed with other training treats/richer kibble.

I bought this to help my pup shed a few pounds after the vet gave me a stern talking to. I started looking into kibble that would help her lose a bit of weight. I’ll preface this by saying that it hasn’t been long enough for me to come to the conclusion that it actually helps dogs lose weight, I’ve only been giving her this food for around 2 almost 3 weeks, but I have noticed various things that do concern me a bit.

First of all she’s eating much more than she usually does (she’s always been the type to eat less than the recommended amount), and at first I thought that it might be because we finally found a food that she absolutely loves but as the days went by we started thinking it might actually be because she’s not receiving enough nutrients from the food, which ties in to the following reason.

Before putting her on this food she would poop 2 maybe 3 times a day, now with this food she’s pooping 5-6 times and the amount each time is a pretty hefty amount which makes me suspect that this food is mostly filler (at least thats what some googling has shown).

Another thing that this food has caused her to increase her water intake. Overall this food has me worried, I’m not sure if this is supposed to be occurring since this is my first time buying a diet food for my pup.

I bought Fat Dogs dog food for my two Australian shepherds about two months ago. I mixed it with my existing dog food to transition them to consuming 100% Fat Dogs dog food. They tolerated the food well during transition and lost weight.

At first I was very impressed and thought that I would use this dog food permanently for them. However one of my Australian shepherds began pooping excessively and had terrific flatulence. He began drinking excessive amounts of water and peed more frequently- lost control near the door a couple times which is very unlike him.

At first I was worried that he might have diabetes or Cushings disease but then realized that it’s the high fiber content that was causing him to consume so much water and that caused excessive poop.

I’m considering just using this dog food for 50% of their needs because the fiber content is excessive for them.

After getting our puppy who had originally been on Kirkland puppy food, we switched to wellness core because it was rated one of the best dog foods. However, we noticed that our puppy struggled to adjust to it.

She wouldn’t eat out of her dog bowl so we thought that was the problem so we switched the dog bowl. But even then she still seemed hesitant with the food. She’d only eat one piece at a time and she hardly ever finished a full meal which was on 1/4 a cup 3 times a day.

We decided to switch her food to Hills Science diet puppy food and she devours it and then cries for more. Not sure if the size of the food was too big or she didn’t like the taste, but for us we just didn’t have success with this brand of dog food.

I would recommend people to try it though because it is a good brand, but just like humans dogs have specific taste and texture preferences.

Our Buddy had so many problems: he was allergic to almost everything: his skin was bad with serious scabby lessons over his body causing him to scratch all the time and ooze a terrible odor. He always stunk.

He was sickly and had to have several surgeries, the last was removal of his spleen and a tumor on the liver. none cancerous thank God. He was so weak we thought on a few occasions we could lose him and prayed hard which brought him through.

Due to the numerous allergies we cooked for him. turkey with every known mineral and vitamin added. yet he continued to have all these problems UNTIL (drum roll here) I found CORE WELLNESS WILD GAME kibble and decided it didn’t have anything he was allergic to so gave it a try.

He ate it like he was starving and began thriving. All the lesions are now gone and his coat is shiny and healthy looking: no more scratching: no stinking at all: he’s stronger and healthier than he has been since a pup.

I am completely sold on WELLNESS CORE. Reading the ingredients it seems they have thought of every thing his little body needs. I can’t recommend this product enough. AND as an aside. after feeding it to him for some time I discovered something in it he was supposed to be allergic to but hey, I didn’t stop using it due to him having such a great comeback physically.

This past July we brought our dog Champ to the vet and we’re shocked to learn his weight was pushing 90lbs. He is a 5 yo male golden retriever and keeping his weight down has always been a struggle, but 89.

5lbs was a shock. Our vet recommended looking into a lower calorie or weight loss food from the same brand we were already using. We cut back the table scraps somewhat, but overall we didn’t change much other than Champs food.

We brought him to the vet just to get weighed a month ago and HE LOST 10 LBS!!!!! We had started to notice his energy level was a little higher but we never would have thought he lost 10 lbs. This food definitely works! We are continuing to use it for now until he sheds a few more pounds but we could not be happier with the results!!.

My dog was having a tough to treat thyroid issue and high cholesterol. This RX food combined with medical care and medication quickly got her cholesterol under control. However, the kibble itself is hard as a rock.

If you accidentally step on one it feels like a pebble and doesn’t crush. My golden mix has a soft mouth and cannot chew the kibble. I only figured it out after 4 days of her not eating the new food! Feeding her now involves a messy and annoying procedure: getting kibble, hot water, and mashing it with a potato masher for 5 minutes so it softens enough for her to actually eat.

She still hates it, and gets about two cups a day down (half of recommended amount for her size). I’ve had to refill once and the second bag was as rock hard as the first. I’m so glad to be able to stop using this food.

If another RX food becomes necessary I will be requiring a different brand.

Last year, after my shitzu had a urinary tract infection that wasn’t healing like it should, we sought out the advice of another vet , because our Vet was closed due to Covid. The new Vet immediately found our dog still had a bad urinary tract infection after 2 rounds of antibiotics.

First step was to do further testing, and she seen her PH was way too high. She recommended for us to switch the food she was on, to this brand and to cut out the treats we were buying. She showed us new treats from the Hills Prescription line, that were healthier for them, that our dogs love.

I’m pleased to say, after another round of antibiotics and this new food, our girl healed and her PH is normal now. We are surprised at how much better she has felt with this food. Both of our shitzu’s eat this food, they’re a little bit of diva’s , they like it warmed up with a little water, but you do whatever it takes for your furbabies! When returning to our regular vet we’ve had for years, he too agreed that it is a great food & he highly recommended it.

With Covid, supplies have been harder to get in the Vet office, so I was pleased to see I could get it on Chewy, I was shocked when I received the order 2 days later at my door! Wow, great service!.

I was absolutely floored when my vet gave me samples of the wet food of this food! My chihuahua had been getting sick (not right away) after eating the Iams dog food she was on. I couldn’t understand why all of a sudden.

It was like everyday. I thought she was seriously sick and that possibly I would’ve had to put her down. I took her to an emergency vet and the vet fully examined her and I told the vet what was going on.

She gave me a couple samples and my chihuahua hasn’t got sick since she’s been in this food and its been a little over a year now. It is pricey! Now even pricier with the inflation! I almost had a heart attack when I saw the $74.

99!! But, I wasn’t ( I don’t think I even have that option to switch since I need a prescription) going to try to figure out another type of food for her. She’s doing great on this and it lasts a good 3 months! I have no idea how! So, it really only comes out to $25 a month.

This is a really great foodie your dog has issues with throwing up after he/she eats. I highly would recommend this and I absolutely will continue to buy it for my girl!.

When our Lucy started showing signs of drinking way too much water, not eating her food, and urinating frequently we knew something was wrong. We took her to her vet and her diagnosis was pancreatitis with diabetis.

We had to leave her in the hospital for three days to get her stable enough to bring home. She was put on the Hill Science Diet W/D which is a wet dog food. Our Lucy hated it because she has always had dry food with a little of the meat we have for dinner.

To make a long story short, we found the same prescription food in dry. I ordered from PetCo because they had the best price. This food is expensive so when we know she is going to have to have it we want to save as much as we can.

My Pitbull mix has always had sensitive tummy issues and seasonal allergies ever since I adopted him at 1yo. He was on wellness fish diet and did well originally for many years but then he started throwing up every month—he was also in pain.

Now at almost 6yo The vet said he may have pancreatitis and recommended low fat food. Like many below- I did not like the poor ingredients in the rx diets but with more info from the vet found this kibble meets the criteria my dog needed! He is sensitive to chicken and I was worried about the chicken fat in here but a reviewer below mentioned it’s ok for a dog to have with chicken sensitivities and after more research I decided to buy.

I have had my dog on Hills Prescription diet I/D for a few years now and she does very well on it, however with the recent price hikes of EVERYTHING under the sun including dog food I just could not see paying over $100 for a bag of dog food.

Even more so considering I have a second dog who eats a different brand of dog food (also solid gold). Anyway this is the closest food I’ve found that compares to the Hills Prescription I/D as far as fat to protein ratios.

They don’t match exactly but its closer than any other dog food I’ve looked at. My husky LOVES this food and needs a low fat diet so as long as she keeps improving or staying the same with this food I will keep giving it.

SO if your looking for an I/D alternative, I would give this a try.

Our 10-year-old dachshund has been dealing with pancreatitis and it’s been very difficult for us to stabilize her weight. We’ve put her back on a raw food diet because all of the kibble is too high in fat and she’s just been too skinny and continue to have frequent onsets of attacks which are frightening.

I’ve been searching and searching for a low-fat food that still had high calories and was going to be sufficient to increase her weight but not exasperate the pancreatitis. I was hopeful when I found this food and so far it has been amazing.

She still on raw food twice a day but I’ve been giving her this kibble 1/3 cup as a 1030 treat. She’s gained 1. 2 pounds.

I recently switched my dog to this food and it is going good so far, no complaints and she did lose some weight. My only issue is it’s hard to find and it only comes in a 15lb bag. I’m not understanding why that is and it’s frustrating having to keep going back to the store to buy more because I refuse to have multiple bags of dog food in my house, I won’t keep the food in the garage due to the heat and I just don’t have space for extra bags of dog food.

PLEASE START MAKING LARGING QUANTATIES. The other flavors has 25+ pound bags so this should also.

I’m finally seeing some indent on my fat little guy! He doesn’t so much look like a furry sausage anymore but still overweight. Not sure what ideal weight for him is but sticking with this until I can feel his ribs without having to poke him.

He’s still a puppy and came into a house with 2 senior picky eaters and got up to around 35 pounds. Tried the really expensive diet type but really didn’t see much difference even after 2 or 3 bags – can’t remember which.

Good friend with lots of animal training told me “1/3 cup salmon based dry food once a day” but I felt my guy would just eat the house out of hunger. He loves this food – okay, any food – and I use a slow feeder bowl and we’re on our first 28 lb bag using 3/4 cup 2x a day.

He’s a Schnauzer pug mix looking more Schnauzer but with an overbite – adorable!! Knowing potential health issues of both his breeds and overweight dogs, I’m looking to get him to a better weight but want him happy at the same time.

I really believe this food is going to get us there. Would recommend for anyone wanting a slow steady weight loss for their fur baby.

I’ve been trying to find a food for months that I feel comfortable switching my senior dogs over to from a gastrointestinal prescription diet. There have been some I’ve liked but this one seems to fit the bill plus it had an added surprise.

My dogs’ histories: I have a 15 year old mini schnauzer male with all sorts of health problems: bladder stones, Cushing’s disease which has caused some gallbladder and liver issues. What was good to eat for the Cushing’s (liver, gallbladder) was not necessarily good for preventing the formation of more bladder stones (calcium oxalate).

He is on meds for the above. My senior schnoodle girl who is also 15, has heart valve issues and is on heart meds. Unfortunately due to their health problems and age, I have not been able to put them under anesthesia to deal with some dental issues that they have, so they have bad breath!! Why I love this food: 1.

The ingredients are really good for dogs that cannot have foods high in oxalates. There is one ingredient that is a medium oxalate food – brown rice and another that is a low to medium oxalate food – flaxseed.

No high oxalate food ingredients in this food. Some vitamins and minerals are not good for dogs with oxalate stones, but it depends completely on if they are getting a higher than normal dosage. I am assuming any added vitamins and minerals are at the recommended level.

2. Low fat content of 6-9%. YES!! Mini Schnauzers and other small breeds (probably some large breeds also!) need to be on low fat food. Much better for their health. Case in point: my dogs have been on low fat food their entire lives and despite their health problems, they are alert and 15 years old.

This is one of the lowest fat content foods I’ve seen. 3. The food smells really good to me. I noticed that the first time I opened the bag and I am not one to notice the smell of dog food. It has a very natural and pleasant smell.

My dogs must like the smell (and taste) too, because they gobble it down. 4. Here was the surprise: Their breath smells better! The food has Rosemary and Green tea extract which helps with breath issues.

I have fed treats including a dental veterinary formula food with those two ingredients that did not do as good as a job with the bad breath as this food has. I am not sure what else Eagle has in this food that helps with this issue but both dogs breath smells much better!! So.

My GSP Barkley has been on Royal Canin GI low fat prescription food almost as long as I have had him, and gets terrible diarrhea on literally every other food we’ve tried. The “sensitive stomach” foods don’t help, and even the GI canned from the same prescription makes for a messy weekend.

The Royal Canin foods have been on back order constantly, so I tried this food in the hopes that mixing it in would prolong the bag I did have. It worked! He ended up solely on this food before his regular food came back in, and he did so much better than on literally every other food he’s had.

It wasn’t quite as solid as on the prescription food, but now I know where to turn the next time I can’t get his prescription food in.

Our dogs love this; we got it because of one of our dogs has pancreatic issues and weren’t at the level of needing prescription food. Moreover, I wanted to review Chewy overall. I love this company. I’ve had very few issues-and when I have, their customer service has gone above and beyond to help me.

We have fed this dry dog food to an overweight senior female Golden Retriever for 5 months now. We are beyond pleased with her progress. The loss of weight has been gradual not drastic which is what we were hoping for.

Along with the change in food we developed a daily structured walking and swimming activity. She eats 2. 5, strictly measured, cups of food 2 times a day, 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening. Her food is not left out all day.

She swims in our pool 1x a day for 10 minutes in the afternoon. We live in Florida and the pavement is to hot to take an afternoon walk, so we swim (she’s a retriever). She walks 1x a day, usually after sunset when the pavement is cool.

In addition to the weight loss, her coat is very soft and shiny. I did heavy research on do food and the nutritional requirements canines need in their everyday diet. I read the bag of several well know brands and none of them had what I was searching for.

I stumbled upon this brand during my research for low carb canine diets. I will keep her on this food for the remainder of her life and will feed all other dogs I own in the future. This is a high quality dry dog food.

My 80 lb pyrenees/aussie mix suffered from almost constant digestive upset the first year we had her. She seemed to react to everything. We did a lot of research and found that a high fiber kibble can help stabilize the system.

We chose to try Solid Gold’s Fit & Fabulous because of the quality, and went with alaskan pollock in case she had a sensitivity to chicken. The change was almost immediate! We took a month to slowly transition her to the new food, but as soon as she was on the Solid Gold exclusively, her digestive issues started to decrease.

It’s been a year, and we’ve never looked back. She now eats a diet of 75% Solid Gold kibble and 25% wet topper for moisture. She also loves it! She never seemed very excited about her food before, but she chases down every stray kibble now! Solid Gold indeed.

Dogs: An 11 y/o Bagel (Beagle/Basset Hound Mix) and a 6 y/o Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Dachshund Mix). My girls love the Solid Gold food line. Every type I have given them, they like. some more than others, but will eat them all.

They were eating Solid Gold Hund-N-Flocken, but I needed to switch due to weight gain. I tried a small bag of this, Fit & Fabulous. They love the taste and ate it, but I noticed that my Bagel would lick her chops more than normal for the next hour or so after eating it.

I continued to watch her for the next 3 feedings and she did it every time. I also took notice that my “vacuum mouth” Chiweenie was eating really slow. At their next feeding, I paid close attention and realized how they were eating: Their mouth movements were extremely exaggerated and with every ‘chomp’ it sounded like they were crunching rocks.

I tried soaking it with broth to soften it, but then they didn’t like it. We will be moving on to another type, unfortunately. This one was a miss for us.

I have a dog with tons of allergies. Had to allergy test her n she was allergic to maby things in dry dog foods. Finally i have something that works. She loves the food too. Chewy representative was incredible n stayed on phone with me to go thru ingredients to make sure there was nothing in here to effect my dog.

After running, jumping and playing outdoors Tootzy started limping at 6 years old. She’s a small golden doodle, runt in the litter, mostly poodle, avg. 50 pounds. She gained about 7-8 pounds after we stopped walking her 10-12 miles a week because she started panting (never panted for 6 years) and favored her left hip.

We iced the hip and blocked the furniture she was allowed to jump up on for 3 weeks. Her vet gave her a mild pain reliever we used for 3 days. Holistic Select Wt. Mgmt was added to her meals, 50% Wt.

Mgmt plus 50% Holistic lamb. And we cut the portions to 3/4 cup twice a day, eliminating 1/2 cup daily. She’s lost 10% of her body weight in 2 months and is as spry as a puppy now. Of course, we limit her jumping, but all other activities are normal.

We will use the above recipe until warmer weather when she starts long walks again.

Although healthy, our big beautiful boy has suffered most of his three-year-old life with irritable bowel symptoms – very soft stools and/or diarrhea. After MUCH research, I found Holistic Select Weight Management Chicken Meal + Peas dry dog food, formulated for dogs with these issues.

I learned that dogs with irritable bowel symptoms need a higher fiber content and lower fat than most any dog foods out there. Our previous dog enjoyed Wellness dog food all her life, and they’re the company who makes Holistic Select Weight Management Chicken Meal & Peas.

After we weaned our boy on this food, as well as adding another miracle product to his food called ‘Perfect Form’, which is a (powder form) digestive aid containing fibrous papaya leaf, organic pumpkin seeds, etc.

his issues have improved greatly! Other variations of digestive aids (canned pumpkin, enzymes, natural sugar-free psyllium husk which is in Metamucil – even other high-quality dog foods did not work.

So Holistic Select Weight Management Chicken Meal + Peas dry food, along with ‘Perfect Form’ was the perfect combination for our beloved friend. So glad to finally have found the cure! Chewy carries both these products, so you should give them a try!.

Both my dogs are on prescription food. For whatever reason I have not been able to get it in ~2 months. This products is very similar, and it’s working well for my fur babies. I will probably continue it even if the other becomes available.

And, I must say Chewy rocks! It saves me $ and time. I appreciate the service and have recommended it to others.

Lily loves it. My vet asked her to switch from a no grain high end dog end food to this brand as there was grain included along with weight management recipe. So far my lab likes it. Kibble is big compared with others she has tried so far but she seems to adjust well to this new one.

Sadie is a Great Pyrenees mix who was 80 pounds at 1 1/2 and at 2 was over 122. We’ve tried several “diet” dry foods (none of which she was wild about). The Royal Canin received her approval when we first tried it but she is now uninterested.

She also gained a pound — though to be fair, the grandkids were here so she may have had help with that. We will cut back a bit from the recommended amount and see how it goes. Royal Canin has a chart on how much to give a dog for weight loss vs.

weigh maintenance. The kibble is large. The bag is vacuum sealed to minimize waste. It has helped some of her tummy troubles. Now if we can just get her to eat enough to be satisfied and not beg for treats.

It’s not fun having a 123 pound dog hungry and feeling neglected. Yikes.

My dog has always had tummy problems and often was sick first thing in the morning bringing up bile, then refusing to each for rest of the day and sometimes for a few days after. Since having this gastrointestinal food I can’t believe the difference.

No more being sick in the morning. Its dearer than my old dry food but this is very reasonable price and a lot cheaper than local vet and also bit cheaper than PetsAtHome. Its also Low Fat which is an added bonus.

She also never leaves any of her dry food anymore. I give ut to her with chicken or pate type wet food.

My beautiful 8 year old rescue jug has hepatitis. Her gut health is very poor. So vet advised I use this food. in the weeks she’s been on it she has not vomitted. 👏👏👏 My border collie 9 years and pug 4 years are also on it.

Vet said that’s perfectly fine. Very happy. I combine this with white rain, gastro wet and carrots as treats. I never give my dogs store bought treats.

This was recommended by our vet to help with our Betty’s sensitive tummy while undergoing treatment for an illness. She loves it, and it works. This is now part of her regular low fat diet where we mix the dry food with a small portion of cooked low fat food to give her variety.

I recommend it especially for older larger dogs. Betty is a Rottweiler.

This is the ONLY dry food my 4 year old Havapoo pup will eat. He’s an extremely picky eater, I have tried around 8 different types of dry food and he would always just pick around it and only eat his wet food.

When he started having teeth problems from not eating enough dry food I decided to cut the wet food out of his diet completely. He refused to eat the dry food I was feeding him despite me adding broths and treats and ended up losing 2 lbs, which is a lot for a 12lb dog.

I finally have in and started mixing his wet food with the dry again. I recently decided to switch to this one because he seemed to like the wellness core dry food the best. I noticed that he would eat all the dry food instead of just picking out the wet food and leaving the dry, I then gradually decreased the wet and gave him 100% dry food and to my surprise he ate all of it and has continued to do so for the past week! I couldn’t be happier! I am now exclusively feeding him this food.

Seriously, if you have a picky eater give this a try!.

I don’t understand the poor reviews of this stuff – it’s great. My 8 year old lab loves it! She seems to be getting some vitality back and her always healthy poo’s seem even healthier. She also likes it better than any other food I’ve had her on, like she gets excited about it beyond just loving food.

The slightly larger odd shaped triangle pieces of food actually force her to slow down and chew a bit instead of just inhaling/swallowing tiny kibble, haha. and even though it’s a little pricey, the added supplements for seniors make it worth it in my mind.

also my dog has always been on a grain free diet and since when do wolves eat grain? The heart issue is solved with the added Taurine so I am less worried about that than all the GMO’s in grains and the health issues THOSE cause.

I couldn’t be happier with this food.

It was time to switch our two pups to senior food so we found Wellness CORE. Previously we have given our pups a mid-grade grain free brand. Since we were converting and they are getting older we decided to invest in something healthier.

I like that Wellness CORE senior uses salmon oil rather than canola oil as it has been such a game changer for our dogs, their coats have completely transformed. I always thought my Catahoula was supposed to have bristle hair but after switching and being on CORE for 4 months his coat is soft, fluffy and shiny.

I wish I had given him better food the first 10 years. Given the price point of $67 I feel it would be challenging to sustain through our dogs whole life bc we have 2 big pups we go through a bag every 2 weeks.

However, with the petco discount and the 20% off sale this has made the price point more affordable for us so I hope they can remain offering the $50/55 price point. I have and will continue to recommend this food to others looking to covert senior and beg CORE to keep the formula! Our dogs love it and we love their super soft fluffy coat !.

So I have two dogs. Lupo is a boxer and Daisy is a pit bull german shepherd mix. Lupo get an upset tummy really easily which will give him the worst case of stank butt and Daisy has allergies that will make her lick and itch like crazy.

Trying to find a food that matches both of their needs and won’t break the bank has been a long journey. I finally decided to try crave and I am so glad I did! I don’t normally write reviews but this food deserves it! My dogs can’t get enough of it! I always put food in their bowls before I let them back in from going potty.

With other foods they would sniff it maybe take a bite and eat it throughout the day. With crave however they rush to the bowl and finish it within minutes! I have to be careful not to let Lupo in before daisy because he’ll starting eating out of both bowls! Lupo no longer has stank butt and Daisy isn’t licking and scratching her hair way any more! We tried a couple flavors and they prefer the fish flavor.

If your thinking about trying this food don’t hesitate! Your doggos will thank you! The only down side is they don’t sell bigger bags! I hope that changes in the future!.

WARNING: Tried this with my boy “Zero” for several months. My dog was not wanting to eat this brand… but i tried. Was feeding Pure Balance but my dog would no longer eat that brand because something changed, and he was not having it.

Then I tried Crave and this food started causing my dog food allergies big time! Head shacking, ears infected, red eye with watery discharge crap, itching, excessive hair shedding. Took my boy to the vet and was advised to immediately stop feeding this food to my dog.

My veterinarian gave my dog a shot and ear medication, she recommended that I switch his food to “Purina One Smart Blend”. Been feeding for a week now and he runs to his dish at feeding time and eats everything! Time will tell if this resolves his food allergy issue.

Loved this product BUT. SEVERAL factors played a part of our new dog food. One. Im not sure why in God’s name this was and IS so hard to actually purchase! The kibble itself was small bits/ pieces and this was one of the brands that actually never evens mentions ” for small breed ” or whatever.

At THAT time, all of crave was the same bite sized pieces. Two. I ended up losing my main job due to the lovely Miss Cov!d and to no avail of loss, the local Kroger was the ONLY store in the whole area who carried this dog food.

If I remember correctly we got the 11 lb bag priced at usually around 28 something. Welp, as my luck runs. I broke my knee cap shortly before all of this and had used chewy so afterward and the US shutdown, I attempted it again.

Chewy customer service IS amazing but I never ordered again after finding the same dog food for over forty bucks. I called to find out if they do price comparison and was told the typical ” im sorry but.

no. ” , speech. I explained that it was highway robbery after the lady broke down how it was all ” digital ” now and they have no control over price changes. Ok fine but it literally is robbing ppl under a US deemed pandemic.

THEN. come to find the local Kroger, quit carrying the dog food and shortly picked it up again. Sent me all over Kindgom Come to find a bag in the meantime. I wasnt doing it again. So. We switched to something else grain free, way cheaper and the picky dog seems to be ok with the new.

We got our beautiful collie from a rescue. Her ideal weight should have been 65-55 lbs but instead she was at 126. 5. Blood panel indicated not issues and her heath was good, she was 4 years old. We researched and started her on Dr.

Tim’s Metabolite Grain-Free Dry Dog Food, along with green beans, L-Cranitine and Omega 3 oil. We were thrilled with the results. Most of the weight came off within 12 months, the last 15 lbs took another year, but we were never discouraged.

My 14 year old black and tan chihuahua Milo gets 1/4 cup food twice a day, along with a couple small vegetable “treats” like cucumbers and snap peas throughout the day. We did everything we could to get him to drop a pound- we couldn’t really feed him less, so we tried different name-brand senior formulas and lower fat formulas.

Lower protein formulas didn’t work either. I bought a bag of Dr. Tim’s Metabolite Grain-Free the end of November 2018, so he really started it in December. Six and a half months later, Milo had his senior checkup June 15th and he lost a pound! We are super proud of Milo and very happy with Dr.

Tim’s Metabolite formula. People might say “yeah but it took six months” but remember that it’s difficult for dogs to lose weight, especially senior dogs. Just like people, it takes time for them to gain weight, and it takes time for them to lose it.

I like that I can feed Milo the same quantity of food so that he feels full and he will still lose weight. This food IS for small dogs- you will be glad you tried it, especially if nothing else had worked.

I have a Sheltie that, like his mama, has a hard time letting go of extra pounds. He has hypothyroidism, so that really makes weight mgmt/loss a herculean effort. Rx diet food didn’t work, diet/lowcal/lite dog food at pet stores didn’t work.

I cut his food back to the point I felt like I was starving him-he kept going back to his bowl. I’m not a huge fan of treats, so if I give him one, it’s pretty small. He has arthritis in both front legs, so any walks we go on are very very short.

After all that, my vet said he was at his heaviest at 31. 5#!!!! We both feel that he should be 20#. SO, after a lot of research, Dr TIm’s Metabolite Weight Management (I chose GF over the regular) food constantly came up the winner in a lot of “best food for.

” lists. I was still hesitant to go with this simply because I had to order it. First of February this year and I decide to just go for it.
