20 Best Low Dust Clumping Cat Litter (2023 Updated)

Tidy Cats brand litter has always been my ‘go to’ litter. Sadly, my confidence in the brand has been greatly compromised by the last box of Tidy Cats Instant Action I purchased. I am now in search of a brand that delivers what is stated on the packaging and in the marketing.

My first complaint is that clearly, the formulation for this product changed and consumers were not notified. I’ve been using this formulation and others without significant issues for many, many years.

This latest box, however, stunned me. My second complaint is that this litter literally tracked EVERYWHERE in my house – three floors – and everything in my house has a layer of litter dust and kitty paw prints on it.

I keep litter boxes in the basement, as far away from the living spaces as possible and always have. I was absolutely astounded at how far the litter and dust traveled. Of greatest concern was the dust.

I was cleaning the litter box one day and noticed that my chest began to burn. Only after I finished cleaning the litter box and moved onto other things around the house did I realized that the burning had subsided.

I attributed the burning to the dust and have worn a mask since then when cleaning or filling the boxes I have no idea how this product / change in formulation made it to market. I will be cleaning up dust and litter for weeks to come, even though I’ve replaced the litter with another product.

It is no longer a good product. It used to be a great product, clumping very quickly and forming a very tight clump (regarding urine). Starting several months ago (June 2022 or earlier), something changed – it no longer clumps as tightly nor as quickly.

When you try to scoop up the urine, the clump breaks apart leaving small pieces – including pieces that pass through the scooper. Also, because it doesn’t clump as quickly, the urine can make its way to the bottom of the litter pan where it forms a sticky clump that is cumbersome to scrape out and remove.

Reviews of this product on the websites of the major “big box stores” are full of these same comments. While many people rate the product highly – many people are also complaining that the litter doesn’t clump as well or as quickly – exactly what we’ve experienced.

We placed a call to Purina’s customer service department and provided all the information they requested. The response was that “there has been no change to the product or its ingredients”. That being said, we stand by our statement and observations – “something” changed – and not for the better.

Considering the high price of this product, it is a big disappointment – and has forced us to try and find a better product. Too bad – this was a “10”, now it’s a “2”.

I had to change to a light weight just because I have gotten older and was toting either a 35 pound box or a few trips back and forth with smaller sizes to fill the litter boxes in my home. All of this heavy on a daily basis was breaking my back and leaving little energy to complete my daily care of the fur kids and myself.

The 17 pound box. I had been using this product in the past and made the error or trying a newer product that did not appeal to myself or my cats. It had a very unpleasant odor and the kitty kids left their business on the surface rather than get into the box and stay long enough to tidy up properly.

I was stuck with that mess for three days as I waited for the box of Tidy Cats lightweight to arrive. literally tossed the old barly based litter out in an area where we used to have pests (raccoons, possums, squirrels) hopefully they will dislike the scent as much as my kitty boys do.

Now the easy to sift Tidy Cats is back in my litter boxes and my boys are once again covering up their business properly. Trying that new fangled litter just proved to me that I was making the right purchase all along with Tidy Cats.

PS: It has a nice gentle air freshner type scent. Easy to sleep through the night without feeling you are choking from the odor. <3.

He’s instinctual and seems like the alpha male type. He’s friendly but very expressive with his feelings, emotions, and aggressions so it was fairly simple to understand his opinions about his new litter, which I think we’re indifferent.

He seemed just okay with it. After this experience with our first unscented litter, I think we both agree that we prefer scented litter, and strongly scented at that! We both really like The World’s Best Cat Litter brand and the litter quality is exceptional.

It clumps really really well and very quickly. I noticed a firm hold just 1 to 2 minutes after urination. Oppositely, Even the smaller chunks that did manage to escape, which weren’t many, were not terribly small and tidious, and still large enough where scooping was possible.

Since the litter was unscented, I could smell some odor but very mildly and this was sort of shocking because I would have thought odor would be constant and strong with unscented litter, so WBCL has some insanely awesome odor blockers regardless if scented or not.

Lastly, dust clouds were completely non-existent and post use trackage was at an all time low, thankfully so because my kitty boy typically produces litter crazed surroundings!.

I started fostering cats this year and have 6 kitties in my home. They do what kitties do and it’s a lot to clean up daily, so I am always looking for products that will help keep things more tidy. My preferred litter is the GREEN unscented type of World’s Best and this new orange litter was offered as a gwp of Orijen 12-lb food.

(Thank you!) At first the most noticeable difference is that the orange litter grains are 2-3x as large. I suppose their logic is that larger grains are heavier and less likely to get stuck on paws, but as anyone who’s stepped on a Lego knows, that’s not true, it just hurts more.

The litter in my post-surgery kitty’s crate has spread both in the 1-inch space between boxes and surrounding 1-ft radius outside the crate. For an animal that does not leave the crate, who is remarkably slow and deliberate when moving/digging, this spread is disappointingly unexpected.

Litter scent has a citrusy tinge after cats have peed, seemingly exacerbating pee odor, however more successful at masking poo odor. I agree with others that the clumping should be better. There is also a lot of pee-odor dust left in the box after scooping, a common flaw I’ve encountered in large-grain litters.

Reliably zero dust in the air as I pour new litter from the bag into the box, the reason I love World’s Best. When I click to Add Photo, it doesn’t show that pics are posted, so maybe I’ll try again later.

Overall I will not buy this orange litter, but I’d still use this instead of clay-based litter.

I am *always* on the hunt for a better cat litter, I mean ALWAYS. In the 16 years I have had my wonderful feline companion, I have shuffled between a dozen different brands, and lines within these brands, and can say with full confidence that I have yet to find one that truly made both me and my cat happy.

Now that my cat has entered his elderly years, he’s more likely to use the litter box without covering his waste and so it’s really important to have a brand that he’s not holding a grudge against. This littler, despite making some promising appeals on the packaging, is not that brand.

As I mentioned before, my cat is on the older side and he does not like pushing around things unless they contain catnip. This litter comes in larger chunks and weights considerably more than the lightweight options we generally go with.

The ‘quick clumping’ claim doesn’t work so well when the waste just sits on top of it. It was also harder to clean out since the chunks of unused litter didn’t quite filter through my current litter box shovel, which isn’t a problem for smaller grained solutions.

With no scent, there also wasn’t much odor control so now that I’m back in the office, I come home to a less appealing apartment at the end of the day. The one thing this litter has going for it is that because it’s too heavy for my cat’s liking, it stays put in the little box and therefore produces very little dust.

Otherwise, I can’t say that I cared much for it (which is a shame since there was a $5 off coupon attached to the bag) and will be sticking with a more fragrant, lightweight option in the future.

I’ve been trying to find an unscented, low/no dust litter that does not stick to the sides of the 3 plastic litter boxes in my house. I have tried every well known brand and one lesser known, but highly rated brand.

In each case, I would get great results for only 2 of the 3 issues I wanted to address. I had been reading great reviews for this litter, but none mentioned anything about it not sticking to the litter box.

In the past few days I’ve been mixing my first bucket of this litter with my existing brand and the results have been amazing! No dust, no artificial scent and no sticking to the boxes! And this is only as a mix with my existing litter, not even using it completely on it’s own! I’m so glad I decided to try this litter.

Not only does it give me the results I had hoped for, it is also reasonably priced and always in stock at the grocery store where I do my regular shopping.

One of the best litters I have ever used. Great for enclosed litter boxes. Should be used with a tracking mat to catch the small litter particles upon exit and if your cat is aggressive you may want to have a high walled box.

Its so soft that they love making sure everything is covered. Almost No smell at all, even right after making a deposit. (Note – Don’t expect great results if your cat doesn’t know how to cover his stuff well or you don’t regularly clean the litter box) The flushable version is excellent also.

Very easy to use. 4 stars only because the small particles will track if you don’t have a good mat.

I have used this litter since I adopted my cat three years ago. I tried a few others in between but always came back to it. The quality use to be great but now it’s gone. There’s so much dust in my house it seems I no matter how much I clean there’s no difference.

This litter tracks like crazy. Somehow even over a higher divided that I have to separate the bathroom tile from the carpet. The clumping is absolutely embarrassing and the odor control is absolutely none.

At this point I’m scooping out pebbles because it does not clump together. It disintegrates and into powder and I can’t clump it. The box is dirty even after cleaning. Even if I wait the litter barely covers the solids and the balls of urine fall apart.

My house smells like literal poop because it can’t even control urine in an enclosed box. I am so upset at the decline in quality but the increase in price in 2020-2021. In short, house smells like pee and poop, can’t clean away said smell because clumps fall apart or only form small pebbles, and this tracks all over the place.

The vacuum can barely pick it up since it’s so small and fine. After giving it another chance, I will definitely be switching litters.

I have bought Purina Lightweight Litter for almost a year now and find it the only one that isn’t dusty and it’s very easy to handle. I always buy the Purina Unscented Lightweight, which is a great product.

My store was out of that so I got this 4 in1instead. There is next to no dust. It’s easy to use being lightweight, but the scent is overpowering and way too strong, maybe it got an extra infusion of scent during production, don’t know?? I only used a small amount to top up the existing cat litter box and the whole room was heavily scented.

One of my 3 cats refused to use it and left a deposit just beside the box. I’ve had cats for over 30 years and never have had that problem. I highly recommend the unscented, which is amazing at odour control with the charcoal formula, when cleaned regularly as it should be.

If your cats don’t like highly scented products, or you don’t, I would give this scented product a miss …. your cat/s will thank you. I had to go out this morning and get more Purina Light Weight Unscented to refill the whole litter box.

Will never buy the scented version of this product again, expensive lesson learned.

I have used Tidy Cat (20 lbs) clumping litter for almost 10 years. As others have said in their reviews, the quality of your product has changed over time. While it still does clump for urine, the clumps are very fragile and break apart easily creating a mess.

The odor levels are now as bad as when I used your non-clumping variety from a previous cat 10+ years ago. I now have air freshener in the closet where his litter is in order to control the smell(s).

Worst yet is the dust issue. Dust from the litter goes all over the room where the closet is. I never knew that dust from a small container could travel that far. Finally, you say in your answers to people on here: ” Please know that the situation you described is not typical of our litter products, and certainly not something we would expect.

” You use the same response (+ or – a couple of words) to everyone who has a complaint in their review. You could at least be original in your response and not say the same tired old response over and over.

Just like your product, your responses have become tired and show lack of real concern.

I recently adopted a very geriatric cat (19 y/o) and I had provided the lightweight clay litter that I have for all my cats. The transition was hard on her, and she got sick. That wasn’t unexpected, but then there was litter box avoidance, that didn’t happen before she got sick.

Since she might have associated the litter and the litter box with being sick, I decided to completely change both the boxes and the litter type. I tried this, and was skeptical of what the box said about long lasting and hard clumping.

I was wrong, and the box was right. She will sort of drill a hole in the litter when she urinates, and the wood clumps very hard around the area, but not to the litter box. So I scoop it up, and have to shake and bounce it around a bit to let the free flowing litter sift out and then remove the clump.

And the clump stays hard. And I don’t have to put in a 4″ layer of litter in the box either. So for two litter pans, I get several months out of a box. I decided to change another box to this litter, and one of my cats uses it to urinate in, and chooses the same spot each time.

So that box has a deeper layer, and each day I wind up removing about a baseball sized clump of litter, and it doesn’t break apart on shaking the scoop. And for her, I decided to see if she would accept the wood litter after discovering one of her back paws heavily encrusted with clay litter that she must have stepped on when it was wet.

If the cat should happen to urinate against the side, it will look gummy, but it scoops out cleanly. Yes, there is some tracking, but at least it is not crunchy if stepped upon, and there seems to be less adherence to my long haired cat that uses it to urinate in.

(I only have two cats who use that liter). The rest use the clay litter, although I intend to change several more to the Okocat litter. And it clearly is less dusty than the clay litter which is advertised as ‘dust free’.

So of the 7 litter boxes provided, three are with the Okocat litter. Since my geriatric cat had been declawed, I chose the soft litter variety. None of my other cats are declawed, nor would I ever do that.

But how many people seek to adopt a 19 y/o cat? So her stay at the shelter was short.

I have a real serious love/hate relationship with this litter. We have three cats and one of them has recently started having unacceptable bathroom habits for some reason. He has decided that he is going to pee and poop on the floor or on our hot tub cover.

Now this is outside of our home in our screen enclosure which is good but not something we want to put up with of course. We have two ridiculously expensive Litter Robots with clumping clay litter that he was using without problem until recently.

My wife found this litter on clearance at a local pet store and I decided to try to see if I could get our problem cat to use it. To my great pleasure and surprise, I found he liked it and started to regularly use a new litter box with this litter and not the hot tub or floor.

The other cats seem to like it too. So I have a new litter box outside in the screen enclosure but that will soon have to end as Florida’s rainy season and ultra humidity approaches. Now Litter Robot claims you can use this litter in their machine by limiting it to 7 1/2 cups and letting the waste sit for an hour and then manually cycling it.

Well it’s just not true and then why would I use a Litter Robot that way anyway? This litter will not easily go through the screen and you end up wasting half of it every time it cycles. Just not usable in the Litter Robot especially if you have more than one cat.

Also on the negative side, this stuff tracks everywhere. It makes a huge mess and you need to clean up constantly around the boxes. So we have a litter that my problem cat will use instead of urinating and defalcating in unacceptable places.

That’s a big big plus. The stuff makes a mess and can’t be used in the Litter Robot which are two big negatives. The premise is great and I appreciate the basic concept. It actually scoops pretty well keeping the urine intact and encasing the poop which is good.

It is also flushable and doesn’t smell bad which are both great assets. So what’s the final verdict? Well I’m not giving up I have been experimenting with different mixtures of 70% ococat and 30% regular clay litter to give him the attraction of the wood litter but adding just enough weight to pull the litter through the Litter Robot screen when it cycles.

So this could be the answer to all of my problems or this experiment may be a total bust. Hopefully this will help me come up with a solution. We will see.

I’m on my second 10lb box and I love this litter so much. I’ve tried Dr. Elsey’s, Arm&Hammer pine pellets (non-clumping), and some unscented non-clumping clay litter that the city shelter was using. Okocat is great in clumping, tracking is pretty much the same as other clumping clay litter (maybe travels a little further because it is lighter), odor control is on par with other wood litters, it’s lightweight, and above all, eco-friendly! Dr.

Elsey’s was great at clumping but each bag of litter seemed to weigh a ton and didn’t even last that long. Pine pellets are great in theory but when it comes to day-to-day operation, I hated the strong pine smell and I found out I actually preferred clumping litter.

Pine pellets tracked the least but they’re also the roughest on cat paws. My cat, Goose, had no objections to okocat when transitioning him from pine pellet and cleanup is straightforward. I sweep the tracked out litter 1-2x daily (because I like clean floors) and it’s just a 5 minute ordeal with a small dustpan.

Scooping 2x daily takes less than 2 min. I change the litter every 2-3 weeks, when I can see more sawdust in the litterbox than I like to see. A 10lb box will last me about 2-3 months (1 cat).

I gave this 2 stars because it is probably as good as most lightweight litters. I have 6 cats and transitioned to this from pine pellet litter, due to arthritis, the light weight and no need to sift pellets.

I thought this would be easier, but it was not at all! The first thing noticed was the PROFOUND scent for this type. I thought I had bought before and that it was lightly scented or no scent, but I was mistaken.

I had to buy the unscented kind and mix with it. The second thing I hated about this product was that within a couple of hours the entire room was coated as if someone threw sand everywhere from the tracking.

There was also a terrible coat of dust on everything. I clean and sweep this room daily, as well as scooping usually twice a day. I am used to clean floors and furniture in the room the cats use for the litter boxes, but this was impossible with this litter.

I just had to wait until this was all gone and do a thorough cleaning. Lastly, once used, this litter is no longer light weight at all. I am back to the pine pellets, but replacing every couple of days rather than sifting the pellets.

This is so much better for us. Poo does stink, but I scoop that and wa-la, I sweep up a few pellets and clean and happy! This was a large chore and extra expense that we did not need right now – lesson learned.

We recently changed from non-clumping litter, to the clumping type. We didn’t know which one to try, so I ordered one of this brand, and one of another brand that slides out of the box. We put this one in one tray that gets used mostly for pee, figured the clumping would help a lot.

It did, but you can’t say this is a trackless litter. I have two litter catcher mats on the outside, then a throw rug after that. It still felt you were walking on sand in the kitchen. You will have some, but this was a lot.

It also stuck to the sides of the box when you cleaned it, like wet cement. My friend said he wouldn’t use this brand again even if you gave it to him for free! (Arm & Hammer multi-cat clump & seal SLIDE is the one to get.

I have to vacuum every day anyway with 6 cats, so I suck up the litter as well.

First let me start with this. My 17 year old cat has beginning renal failure. We just moved cross country 840 miles to a big city where I needed a lightweight cat litter and an easy system. Well I’ve traditionally always bought tidy cats because I wasn’t aware fresh step made a lightweight litter.

My cat has deformed paws and cannot retract her claws anymore. so I thought it best to keep her in my bedroom away from other fur family members and where she can’t get stuck on the carpets or have to go upstairs.

My ride or die companion has never “covered up” after using the litter box. Her fur family would do it for her. So here we are a cat in renal failure peeing nonstop and not covering their potty. I would come home from work to a major stink.

I began to research other litters that could help. Found fresh step. Went and bought it August 25th. Let me tell you. When I came home from work the next day I didn’t smell anything!! Fresh step clumps better than tidy cats and appears NOT to be having this weird chemical reaction with my cats urine!!! No uric acid smell no nothing!! It’s like her litter box isn’t in my bathroom!? You have no idea how relieved I am.

I scoop her litter box every morning and every night as well as dump and refill weekly and with tidy cats the odor was still very strong. I am now a customer for life. Hopefully my old lady kitty has a few more months or a year left and I will breathe much easier having her as my roommate.

Fresh step. listen you all are genius! The light is perfect! That’s the only one you need to make from now on. Literally no odor I literally forgot to change the litter box because I couldn’t smell it.

Any liquids were absorbed and my cat poo’s 💩 regularly. Had my daughter change it a month ago and I just remembered today that it’s time to change it 🤦🏾‍♀️ I’m a very busy mom of 2 boys with disabilities so it’s easy for things to slip my mind now and then 🤷🏾‍♀️ but thats just a testament to what I’m saying about the fresh step light cat litter.

There was no tracking either. Very little dusting. It was an easy cleanup too! This was definitely a win for my cat and our household in general. Bastet loves it! We love it! This is our 2nd time using it.

I’ve tried several different kinds of litter. Even the fancy $25/bag stuff that tells you if they’re sick. This is by far the best at keeping odors at bay!! This litter plus having the litter box in a litter box cabinet, (if you don’t have one, get one!!) makes a world of difference.

Even if I forget to change the litter for a day, still no smell!! I didn’t think I wanted a scented litter because I figured the scent would just mix with the smell of poop. Nope! This litter seems to eliminate the smell all together.

It’s fantastic!!!.

So, I like Tidy Cats clumping litter with Glade, and I consistently use it. I’ve seen reviews in the past saying that it doesn’t clump, but…. it clumps. I don’t know what else you would call what’s currently in the litter box, and I’ve personally found it to be more effective at said clumping than say, Fresh Step.

It doesn’t keep odors in for 10 days as claimed, but no litter does in my experience. That being said, I don’t love that the Lightweight version of this litter tends to have a marked up price compared to the same size container of regular weight litter (ex: lightweight is $14 at Target, while regular is $10.

50). This seems like a derivative of the “pink tax,” given that women (like me) will often choose the lightweight litter so they can carry it home, and will therefore pay more money for it. I don’t like that, but my biceps aren’t usually strong enough to stand up for justice in this case.

If yours are, I highly suggest opting for regular weight over lightweight.

I have nothing good to say about this cat litter. oh well, it is lightweight. I purchased this 17 lb pail in the store when the other Tidy Cats pail that I usually buy was out of stock, not once but twice (thanks Walmart).

First, note that it costs about $6 more than the regular weight Tidy Cats. Second, with the cost in mind, you use it a lot more because it expands like a sponge. I have one 8 pound cat and I used this bucket in about 3 weeks after topping off the litter every 5-6 days or so.

The regular weight pail of Tidy Cat litter easily lasted 6 weeks or more, so you are using twice as much with the lightweight litter. If you didn’t do the math: 2 pails of lightweight Tidy Cats litter at $20.

98 ($41. 96 total) versus 1 pail of regular clumping Tidy Cats Litter at $14. 64. That’s a $27. 32 savings for a 6 week period. Third, the litter is super sticky. The litter becomes very moist (think cooked oatmeal left in a pot overnight) and almost always sticks to the sides or bottom of the cat box, which takes a lot of scraping to remove.

Also, stray bits of litter stick to my floor and I have to scrape it up because it won’t come up with a broom or vacuum. I had to go over the floor with a mop twice with much effort to get the floor clean.

I have a 3 x 5 rug under the litter box and I still get stray bits on the floor. Then, to top it off, when my cat was laying next to me on the bed, I saw large clumps of this litter stuck between the pads of his feet and claws.

He must have been so uncomfortable, not to mention, yuck on my bed and furniture. Fourth, it doesn’t control odor well. I could be in another room and smell cat urine even though I cleaned out the cat box a few hours before and added fresh litter.

Unfortunately, I am working from home and sharing a room with the cat box for 8 hours a day. I thought sharing a room with a cat box would be unbearable, but I’ve switched to Fresh Step, and sitting 10 ft away I don’t smell anything offensive.

Fifth, when using the lightweight litter my cat stopped burying his poop. I couldn’t figure out why, but I am thinking it could be because of the odors inside the litter box even after scooping and wiping down the sides and stuck on bits with a baby wipe each day, sometimes twice a day.

Before I switched to this lightweight litter, he never did that. Now that I am using Fresh Step, he seems to be burying his poop again, so I can’t help but think the lightweight litter had something to do with it.

I cannot in good conscience recommend this litter as it has no redeeming qualities. Sorry, Tidy Cats. This is a disaster. I will try Tidy Cats again, the regular weight clumping kind, but Walmart has a problem with keeping it in stock.

I tried this litter after a friend recommended it; I had been using Precious Cat litter for ten years and was getting very frustrated at how dusty and inefficient at odor control it had become. I have an asthmatic cat, and the little clouds of dust I would get while dumping litter in the box or scooping were bad news for him! I have to say I was really surprised that Free and Clean worked so well, because in my mind grocery store litter is associated with that awful ammonia smell, the old lady with too many cats smell.

It was actually quite the opposite: It is extremely low dust, nothing while pouring it in, nothing while scooping. The only time I start seeing dust is several weeks in, when it’s time to empty the box completely and wash it.

I have two large litter boxes and several cats in a two bedroom apartment and there is now ZERO smell from the boxes, even right after the cats go number 2. You would never guess cats lived here. Until you see the litter all over the floor, that is.

Yes, that’s the trade-off: the litter is super low dust, scoops very easily (no more chiseling off concrete blocks of pee stuck to the box, yay), has superb odor control BUT it tracks EVERYWHERE. And when I say everywhere, I mean all over every piece of furniture, all over the floor two rooms over, all over your bed, etc.

It also sticks very easily to fluffy longhaired cat butts. For me, the lack of smell and the absence of dust more than compensate for the constant sweeping I have to do, but if that drives you nuts that may not be the right product for you.

It’s also pretty pricey, and the packaging is so much plastic, I am not fond of it. But in the end until I find better, I am sold on this one!.

Let me start by saying, I have a rather disgusting story, but this product almost made me cry within 5 minutes of my introduction to my cat (Romeo). So for whatever reason, probably about 2 years ago, Romeo totally stopped using his liter box.

He would pee and poop in the tub or he would pee on the floor beside the liter box and poop in the tub. He has peed inside of my HVAC vent that is on the floor in the bathroom and just 2 days ago he peed in the livingroom right in front of the TV.

I was at my wits end. I had considered the unthinkable for my kitty of almost 12 years (having him put down) because he was ruining my home and I had tried everything, water in the tub, changing litter, changing boxes, changing location of the box ….

etc. I cried and cried not knowing what else I could do. Well, I researched yesterday to find other options to correct what he was doing in an effort to not have him put down(I knew I couldn’t rehome him because he wouldn’t use a liter box).

Well let me tell you…. this stuff is nothing short of a miracle!!! I picked up my kitty and carried him into the bathroom, I let him watch me set up his NEW liter box then he watched me pour in the NEW WORLDS BEST liter.

He was clawing to get out of the bathroom, I coaxed him to come near me and the liter box, eventually he came to me and began sniffing the box, then he began sniffing the liter inside, next thing I knew he got in the liter box, sniffed around and took a poop then proceeded to cover it up and hopped out!!!! I started yelling “He pooped in the liter box!!!” I picked him up and loved on him and praised him.

I started crying… my kitty is gonna stay here and I get to love him for many years to come!! FYI my kitty is a large kitty, so I purchased him an extra large liter box ( he is a Norwegian Forest Cat) and no my yelling didn’t scare him as he was born def.

This really is the world’s Best cat litter! I’ve tried so many different types to replace the dirty, dusty, tacking clay litter I started with when I got my first cat. I’ve tried various paper pellets, wood pellets, silica beads and others including this one.

There are pros and cons to them all but I really liked the crystal beads but I developed asthma from the silica dust. So next best type for me was this World’s Best crushed corn husk litter. It clumps so it’s easy to clean.

There is one for multi-cats which I’m assuming clumps even better. It’s natural and theres even a lavender scented one but I discovered my cat hates anything lavender so it’s the plain one for us lol.

The clumps are flushable, provided you make sure to let the granules soak a few minutes and expand fully before flushing away. It’s not dusty and doesn’t track like the clay or sand litters. It doesn’t absorb odors like some of the pellet products.

You only need a few inches in your litter box so even though it costs a bit more, it last a lot longer. provided you scoop your litter regularly to keep the litter as clean as possible. And since it doesn’t stick to my cat’s paws, she doesn’t lick and ingest it like the clay litters.

And if she does ingest a little, it’s ok since it’s corn, not clay or silica. This was originally recommended to me by someone at a rescue organization and now I recommend this brand to everyone I know.

I started out using clay litters for my two cats but found they were so heavy, sticky, and hard to clean so I switched to crystal litters and tried multiple brands but all of them irritated my nose and throat with the silica dust so I knew I had to find something else.

After some research it sounded like a natural litter would be ideal for me but I was hesitant because in my past experience natural litters were crumbly, messy, and/or had weird odors to them. Once I found this litter and saw it was endorsed by Jackson Galaxy I decided to give it a try since the Cat Daddy has never steered me wrong.

Well, once again he was spot on and Sustainably Yours lives up to the hype. It has many pros and only a few cons in my experience which I have listed below. Pros: – Soft sand-like texture that is gentle on my boys’ paws – Zero dust (Seriously, there is no dust at all!) – Fast-acting clumping action that forms tight and solid clumps – Does not stick to the litter box, very easy to scoop/clean – No fragrances or odors, great for people and/or kitties with sensitivities – Made with sustainable materials Cons: – Odor control could be better.

It seems to do well with urine odors but did not control fecal odors well (although to be fair my boys tend to have smellier than average BMs). This was easily remedied by some Litter Box Odor Eliminator powder and now I don’t smell a thing.

– Tracks easily (not a big deal for me personally and honestly what litter doesn’t track to some degree) – Because of the small granule size the bags don’t fill up as much of the litter box as an equivalent sized larger-grained litter.

(i. e. Normally one 13 lb. bag will fill my litter box up to my preferred depth of 3-4″ but with this litter I needed 1. 5 13 lb. bags to reach the same depth). Overall I am very pleased with this litter and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking to make the switch to a natural litter.

I’m 70 and Boomer, my long-haired grey tuxedo, is 16. 5. We lost his sister in May, and for the first time since 1975, I have just one cat in my home. I started wondering how many tons of regular clay litter I’ve carried in my cat time and decided to try a lightweight clumping type.

It’s getting harder to lug the 20# box down the stairs into the garage and dumped into a bag, not to mention getting the used litter lifted up high enough to get into the garbage can. So glad this was one of the first I tried, as it puts my other choice to shame! Clumps like cement and I don’t detect any odor, even after a poop.

I can only give it 4 stars for the following reasons. Being long-haired, when Boomer pees I find that a bit of litter sometimes sticks to his fur in that area, probably because he squats lower at times.

Not much of a problem since my hand can brush it right off. I check his furry paws every so often because he has jumped into the box right after checking the tub for water after I shower. Again, no a real problem.

The big problem is how much it tracks, definitely more than my clay litter. Don’t mind shaking the bathmat or sweeping the bathroom, but I have carpet throughout the house. Probably a plus as the carpet nearest the bathroom catches a good deal, but it still gets into the living room and cat bed on the couch.

Regardless, I’ve ditched the other product (it tracks even worse) and consider this a fantastic find! Won’t even bother to look at other products as Boomer took right to this and seems to prefer it over my other experimental choice.

Also, I scoop into a covered container and empty once a week. The other product left the underside of the top dripping wet with moisture buildup. The Sustainably Yours has never had a moisture buildup on the underside, even at the end of the week.

While the 13 lb. bag of Sustainably Yours is slightly less than double the price of the 40# bag of clay, I find that the bag lasts much longer because I only replace what was scooped as opposed to replacing the whole litter box of clay every week.

I’m extremely happy with this product and so is Boomer, so a little more vacuuming is very worth it!.

Great Litter, I Was Looking For Low Dust Because My One Cat Seems To Have An Allergy To The Dust & Residue From Clay Litter, She Itches, Over Grooms & Her Eyes Run Terribly. The Litter I Had Been Using For Years Changed & Was So Dusty I Could Actually Feel The Grit In My Mouth When I Would Clean The Litter Boxes At Night & My Older Cat Started Pulling Her Fur Out.

Tried A Few Others But Then I Saw An Advertisement For This Litter, I Have Never Been A Fan Of The Corn Litters I Have Tried In The Past, They Were Horribly Messy & Had An Odd Smell To Them That Could Be Over Powering.

I Decided To Try This For A Last Ditch Attempt & Oh My Gosh I Am Glad That I Did! There Is No Dust At All!!! There Is Also No Smell At All And The Clumping Is Awesome(Better Than Any Clay Litter I Have Used) It Does Track, But I Do Not Really Notice It Outside Of The Rooms That My Litter Boxes Are In So I Have Just Gotten In The Habit Of Sweeping It Up A Little More Frequently Throughout The Day(That Doesn’t Really Bother Me) I Do Not Notice Any Smell At All When My 2 Cats Have Peed In It (Poop Is Another Story – No Odor Control There But Most Unscented Litters Don’t Help There) My Older Kitty Girl With The Allergies Has Actually Increased The Amount She Uses The Litter Box So All In All I Am Super Happy With My Choice! It Is Pricey But It Actually Seems To Last Longer Than The Clay Litters I Was Using, It Is Staying Fresher Longer & The Level Of Litter In The Boxes Are Staying Full Longer.

This little is great for odor control. My two kittens litter box is in a small guest bathroom and it actually smells good when you walk in. It does scatter a bit when they get out of the box and there is some tracking but only in the immediate area.

My huge complaint is with the dust this litter creates and the very heavy scented perfume of the deodorizer. I have a sensitive nose with a strong sense of smell and am very sensitive to perfume and can not stand the scent this litter gives off.

And the dust that is created when the litter is stirred up makes it so that the cats smell like the litter when they use it and I do as well when cleaning it. I have found that there is always some dust to be expected with clay litter but this litter seems to put out more than others I have tried.

Which is unfortunate because it really does well in all other areas. BUT if you do not mind the heavy scent then I would recommend it. Just not for me. On another note I would caution anyone reading this review on the validity of other reviews on Chewy.

I have done a lot of research since getting cats on various products and it seems as though Chewy has a big problem with bot reviewers – aka fake reviews that companies put out to make their product get a higher rating and therefore get more sales.

Chewy should really look into this and find a resolution because it is a very shady way to do business and I could never trust a company who generates their own fake reviews.

There really isn’t anything to complain about regarding this litter. It clumps quickly, and the clumps don’t fall apart when scooping, unless they’re super fresh. (The longer the clump has had to dry the better.

) I do not smell any cat urine or feces at ALL. There is very little dust to complain about. there is some, but not like I’ve experienced with other unacceptable litters. The tracking is tolerable with a top-entry box combined with a honeycomb mat.

The 4 resealable packs are super convenient. The fragrance is “Fresh”, similar to a dryer sheet. The kitties smell like the fragranced litter sometimes. I’ve been using this litter for 2 cats for about 2 weeks and I recommend it.

However, I haven’t tried a great many other brands of clumping litter; I’ve mostly used crystal-type litter. I prefer this, for 2 cats. The only think I miss regarding crystal litter is the dehydrated poo was easier to scoop; I have to be careful when scooping so I don’t get the scoop grossly dirty.

I plan to try other brands just to see what else is out there, but this will be one I’ll keep in mind to return to if the others fail.

I have been using this cat litter for well over a decade. This brand is all our family has ever used and weve never had an issue with it and it worked great up until recently. I think when they changed the packaging from one big bag to 4 smaller ones, they must have changed the formula too because now this is the worst litter i can even imagine.

My cat has been having horrible allergies, sneezing, wheezing, and a whistling nose, and she struggles to breathe after using her box from the dust and maybe the fragrance too? And it does not clump AT ALL anymore!! Whats the point of having a clumping litter that does not even clump? Along with that, i feel like the purpose of all of this fragrance is lost because it isnt clumping and catching the pee smell, so her litter box REEKS now! Allllll of this started when the packaging of this brand changed.

Whatever they did to it, ruined the litter and now i have to shop around for litter for the first time in like 12 years and dont even know where to begin because i have been so faithful to this brand! Im so sad but i have to so what is best for my cat.

Smell☹️ Bought this because I had been using Pretty Litter which I LOVED for two years. However the dust after 3 mo was on everything in laundry room, folding table, all my crafting, so I stopped because of it and the fact cat kept sneezing.

Looked online for hours trying to find a TOTALLY dust free litter that also clumped well. These that say 99. 9% dust free, well after months, that 1% of dust REALLY adds up. I have NEVER, EVER had a problem with litter box odor.

However, after using this for about 4 days, I noticed this funky smell all thru my house similar to vomit, old urine, or just plain nasty. Whenever my cat came to, sit with me on the recliner, I noticed it more.

I just had brought her back from the groomers, and her fur smelled nice, it was soft, but there was something about her that just wasn’t right. At first I thought the smell was coming from my skin pores because I had started taking an all natural Vegetable vitamin, so I threw the bottle out and stopped.

When she got down from the chair, I still smelled this smell, and it was coming from the blanket she lays on and walks on. After 2 more days of continuing to smell this odor ALL thru my house except the back areas that were far away from the litter box, I thought OMG, it’s this new litter.

So here I am after reading so……… many reviews about the awful smell people were noticing that I’m smelling as I type this, it’s got to be the litter. I hate to throw it out. I bought 2 14 lb boxes of it because I was so thrilled to see that it was totally dustless.

I have no other complaints about the clumping, as some people stated, it worked fine for me, and is very soft, as my cat loves stepping and scratching in soft litter compared to others we have tried that’s like tiny pebbles.

So my search begins all over due to the fact I cannot and will not continue to smell this horrible smell thru my house. as I was washing clothes today in the laundry room where my cats litter box is, I totally realized the smell is from it.

Now since some people say the odor is pleasant and there isn’t a funky smell, it may be my cats urine that’s just not chemically balancing with whatever this litters made of. But whatever it is, It’s leaving my house just as soon as I can get to the store and purchase something else.

This was easily one of our favorite litters. Low, low dust, litter is confined to a limited area outside the litter box and mat and little to no scent. We changed to two other litters this year when it seemed like the texture of the litter changed.

We noticed the different color of the litter from the past litter boxes and it “seemed” to clump. A month or so later, we determined it was one of our cats that was tracking it all over because he was losing his vision and not the litter.

We will be going back to the Platinum Cloud Control. It works and is relatively clean. Negatives, the box is heavy and needs to ship separately from other items because it crushes whatever its shipped with.

Also, you need a chain saw to cut the box down for trash days.

I’ve been using another brand of litter (Tidycats) for ages but their current product is very dusty. I hate cleaning and decided that I needed something better. I did some on-line research and found the 100% dust free A&H Cloud Control claim and decided to give it a try.

It’s a huge improvement! I see no dust at all when I’m cleaning the litter boxes or when the cats are using them. In addition, there’s only a tiny amount of litter tracked out of the boxes, which is also a major improvement (and I have to clean even less now).

Finally, the “litter box smell” is much, much less. The only negative is the scent – I don’t care for it. But this gripe is very minor because the scent is very subtle. As long as the product performs, I can live with it.

Bottom line – I love this stuff and highly recommend it.

This is the second brand of pine litter I’ve tried and I’m so glad I switched over from clay-based litter. Even with a decent litter mat and boxes with high edges I was getting frustrated with all the bits of clay still around the house and the amount of clay dust that accumulated was irritating my allergies.

I also seemed to be going through the clay litter faster than the pine-based stuff as well. When the pine pellets get wet, they swell up a bit and then turn into sawdust. It’s a little more time-consuming to scoop out the dust while trying to save the pellets, but there’s little to no urine odors and much less gets tracked outside the boxes.

About once a month I do a “deep clean” of the litter boxes where I dump the good pellets into a clean container, empty the litter box and clean it out of any excess sawdust and then put the good pellets back in the litterbox and replace with more pellets as needed.

This may be easier with a sifting litter box but I didn’t want to get rid of the boxes I aleady had. I have 2 kittens and their mom who are all using the pine litter now with no issues. The kittens were already using the pine stuff but I had to slowly transition their mom over from clay to pine and she eventually got used to it.

I like how the back of the bag has tips/instructions on how to switch to pine litter. Overall, pretty happy with this brand and will continue to stick with it.

There is a learning curve with this cat litter, but follow my advice & you’ll be better off for it. #1: make sure you have 2 litter boxes per cat in your home. #2: get a sifting pan, it’ll make changing litter a breeze.

#3: when using a litter scoop, be advised that when wet, the litter turns to dust and DOES NOT clump (unless it’s a soft stool). In order to combat this, I clean 2 litter boxes at once. I designate a pellet box, and a dust box.

I scoop from pellet box, sift over dust box, until one whole litter box is dust & poops, and the other is all old pellets. I then like to use a dust pan like a shovel & move the dust into a plastic bag (double bag it OR re-use empty pine litter bag.

I even use empty dry food bags if they can be zipped closed). Ta-da! Now the worst is over. Dust & poop taken care of, I split the old pellets between the 2 litter boxes and line the bottom with it. Top it off with 2″ of new pellets fresh out the bag & you’ll be good to go! #4: change the litter weekly & your house will smell fine.

Tip: Chewy sells a faux-planter style litter box. It’s big, pretty, and covered so tracking is minimal & smells tend to stay contained. They also hold a lot of litter. If you can afford 2 of them, they’re your best bet.

This litter doesn’t leave a plume of dust or make my cats paws dusty. It doesn’t stick between their paws or stink. Their urine breaks down the pellets and their poop sits on top to easily scoop or grab up with a bag or gloved hand.

I only smell the pellets even with poop sitting on top. Trick is you HAVE to clean every day but it’s so fast! This litter is better with a sifting type of litter box. The litter box is at the bottom and the sifting tray on top and the pellet litter in side the sifting tray.

To clean all you do is scoop out the poo (I have a litter genie just for poop) then you shake the sifting tray to shake out the broken down pellets into the box below then you can dump to shavings into the trash.

It’s so easy it takes me 10 minutes to clean 3 boxes. Each time I clean I wipe the box with some disinfectant and make sure it’s dry and put the sifting tray with the pellets inside back on top of the box.

It’s truly the best litter! The largest bag lasts me about 4-6 months. My cats took to it quickly which is a surprise because one of them is very picky. MUST BUY!.

I love the Breeze system. After years of misery and somuchmoneyspent with all other gross litter systems that I tried, it’s the best. And now I think I may have found the best possible litter for the Breeze in my 3-cat household.

Pros: The walnut pellets are perfectly sized to use for the Breeze scoop. The odor control is a bit better for these than the Breeze pellets. My 3 kitties (ages 1. 5-ish, 7 months-ish, and baby-ish) all adjusted smoothly without complaint and they actually seem to enjoy this litter.

They don’t get stuck in the Breeze grates like the Breeze pellets can sometimes do if they break. The pellets allow the urine to go through the grates effectively to the Breeze pads below and don’t seem to hold urine odors.

They don’t really break down like pine pellets– there’s just a fine sheen of dust on the pee pads when I change those, which is no biggie. There is no dust near my boxes, so the litter seems quite good for respiratory systems– mine and the cats.

The walnut pellets don’t track– just toss the occasional stray pellet back into the box and you’re good to go. And they’re wayyyy cheaper than the Breeze pellets, so it’s nice to be able to fill the box up more, which is nice for the cats for digging purposes as well as odor control for feces.

I also found this litter to be friendlier for diarrhea than the Breeze pellets, which would kind of get ruined by diarrhea. Because I have to tell you, my cats do love to get diarrhea and ruin a nice freshly changed box.

Don’t worry, the vet and I are working on it. Cons: No serious gripes at all. I guess the dark color does make the feces a little harder to locate, but come on. If you have an extra 5 seconds to sift through the litter and look for lumps a few times per day that’s more than enough.

I bought the SoPhresh XL sifting litter box to use this litter because it is best used as a sifting litter. I’ve watched lots of YouTube reviews on this particular litter and that is the consensus. It does clump but takes a little longer to firm up.

It does sometimes get stuck in the slots of the sifting ban but it’s an easy fix if you use a litter spade and not a square litter scoop. A litter spade is just a scoop shaped like a gardening spade – it pokes the litter right thru.

Also you’ll want to make sure you pour more into the litterbox to avoid litter clumping beneath the sifting pan. I can say though when that happens i just pat the bottom of the pan and it pops right off – it’s extremely non-stick which is nice.

I do sift twice when I clean the litter boxes and I love how easy it is to just wipe it clean. I started using this litter with two other litter boxes that were smelly and needed to be washed and once I set the Naturally Fresh litter out with the other boxes it eliminated ALL the odors from the the old clay litter without me even scooping or cleaning those boxes first!!! I have since bought another new sifting box and bag of this litter.

I do still give my cats the option to use the clay litter just to give them transition time. There is minimal dust when sifting. They do kick it out of the litter box but I just bought a giant $12 indoor/outdoor rug that brown so you can see it and then just vacuum whenever I sift.

I think I have very flexible kittens, given some of the comments and posts I read on the internet. I did a lot of research before adopting about litter, and this one kept coming up. We had to transition them from the World’s Best clumping litter (which I found literally everywhere, all the time) to this walnut, pellet litter.

It only took one mix use box for about 2 weeks to transition, and they don’t seem to care at all. They use it, they don’t have accidents, they don’t avoid using the box. We use it in combination with the Iris top entry litter box.

Between the pellets, the top entry, and the mat (the microfiber mouse print one on Chewy), I do not find litter anywhere, ever. The smell containment is great. I know they recommend multiple boxes for multiple cats, but we have a v small apartment and we only have space for one.

It does sit next to a window exhaust fan, but I can only ever smell it when I am scooping out their solids, which I do every day/every two days. The reason I know this works so well is because when I went to empty it after 3 weeks (I didn’t read the instructions, which state a month lol) I was almost bowled over by the scent as it poured out of the box into my trashcan.

The fact that THAT was contained and I had no idea? Wow, wow, wow. Also: we used it post spay and neuter (since it’s dust free and pellets, like the Yesterday’s News) and had no issues.
