This is an excellent laptop. I just set it up with no issues. Loads content very fast. If you set sceen to max brightness and set size to 125%, it matches the quality of the other 1080p screens that I own even at this lower screen resolution.

The unit is beautiful and seems to be sturdy and well constructed. Sound quality is very good at max setting in a 13×30 foot room. Keyboard response is great. I purchased this pc on the daily deal for $199.

99. I got another $20 credit because unit was not well packaged with box being crushed even though unit performs perfectly upon setup after contact by phone with customer service expressing my concerns, Best Buy needs to package items better for shipment.

Only negative is that HP should have made this with black keys with whiite lettering as the gray keys with white lettering make identifying keys difficult without backlit keyboard even though the look is aesthetically pleasing.

Have not checked battery life yet, If it gets around 9 hours as advertised, actually OK.

I’ve been watching this laptop for some time as I was looking for a new lightweight machine to travel with that would handle simple tasks (email, web surfing, photo organization, etc. ). I wasn’t 100% sold, but when it dropped to $200 for a Deal of the Day, I had to grab one.

I must say that so far, I am very pleased with its performance. The keys have a nice feel when typing, the touch pad is very smooth, and the screen is the perfect size. I’m enjoying the SD memory card port; my previous laptop had a microSD typically found in the $200 range laptops, which required me to travel with an adapter.

However, the two things that I’m most excited about: the SSD and the RAM. The SSD, unlike eMMC, can be swapped out at some point in the future (for now the 128GB will do the job). As for the memory, I am fine with 8gb; makes for a snappy Win11 experience, but I was ecstatic to learn that this was expandable to a max of 16gb (again, future upgrade).

Given its price, current performance AND the capacity for future upgrades makes this HP laptop an excellent buy. Get one!.

Pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Wanted something better than a Chromebook but not as expensive as a laptop. For $250, this checks the boxes. It’s better than some of the similarly priced Celeron cpus and it’s got Windows which I prefer to ChromeOS.

Plus it means that you should be able to install Linux as well. Another plus is 8gb ram on one stick with another slot open. I don’t know why they sell Windows systems with 4gb of ram. It’s an awful choice especially with no upgradable systems.

I suppose it’s just cashing in on the general public really not knowing much about hardware. Anyway, good for basic productivity, my only knock is it’s definitely not an IPS screen as the specifications state.

This is the second laptop I’ve purchased from Best Buy with incorrect specs. I ended up returning the last one because of it. There should be some sort of discount for the inconvenience and incorrect advertising.

I want to like this laptop. It’s fast, light, and comfortable to type on, mostly. I find the up/down arrows keys to be a bit on the cramped and small side. Fortunately, they’re not incredibly important, but it can be a little annoying when I need to use them.

That, however, pales in comparison to the crashing I’m encountering. It’s not my main PC, so I only use it from some light programs. Programs like Microsoft Word and Chrome. But for some reason, this laptop likes to forcefully shutdown on itself.

I presumed it might be temperature related, but with the programs I use, the system really should not be getting to point of shutdown from heat. My only other idea is that the battery is bad. So, be mindful of that.

I’ve tried a complete BIOS update. I’ve updated the Iris XE graphics, and reset the CMOS, yet I still get this shutdown. It’s random too, so I have to be very careful with my writing documents so as to not lose my progress.

Very vexed with this laptop. As I wrote this review, it crashed and I had to retype a portion of it. I’d encourage buyers to heavily use it make sure that nothing’s faulty before the return date.

Picked up this particular model while it was on special – overall it’s a good value option for a laptop with the current state of things. The screen is great and sharp (even though I usually prefer a matte display, but I suppose it needs to be glass for the touch interface to work), acceptable brightness, and generous colour rendering.

With the way the screen bends backwards, it makes a surprisingly useful tablet – I didn’t think I’d use that feature, but now feels indispensable and my photos look fantastic on it. It is however let down by a few niggles that Windows 11 seems to have – it refuses to go to sleep when the lid is closed, instead spinning the fan to full speed – I spent many hours in regedit looking for a fix, but wound up just changing the settings so that it hibernates instead of sleeps.

The trackpad scrolling speed settings don’t seem to apply to web browsers, either – a bit odd. Maybe they’ll be sorted out later with driver updates. Other than that, it’s well-constructed and feels like it should last for sometime.

I am not tech savvy, however this laptop is up to par for me, since I did purchased this laptop for college purpose. The backlit keyboard is a plus for me, although it may be a tad difficult to view in a well lit area— I guess it’s all on one’s preference.

The battery was draining at first, up until I was able to discovered and turn on the ‘battery saver,’ it’s a lifesaver for me. Again, like I stated previously, I am not tech savvy. I did run a few games on this, it could get quite loud— only when I am playing games.

Other than that, it doesn’t bother me when I am doing other things (with other applications/tabs running/open) Another thing I like and think it has its advantage is the fingerprint access. I have no trouble accessing my laptop so far with this.

I would say that aside from this, I’d wish this laptop has a numeric keyboard though. Then again, it doesn’t inconvenienced me. I’ll probably update more as I go, maybe, in the long run. So far so good in my opinion.

Need a great laptop? Look no further. I bought this two years ago in August, just before my son started school. He attends an online school and I help him with his lessons. After 5 years, I needed a new laptop and I chose this one.

I use it every day for streaming my workouts, writing, and social media. Two years later, it’s still going strong! The touchscreen was a non-negotiable feature for me and I use it everyday. The hinges are durable, which was important to me as my last laptop started coming apart at the hinges, with the screws coming loose from toting it all over.

This one is strong, I can flip the screen completely over and use it as a tablet no problem. It’s fast, has plenty of storage for what I need, and is overall, just a great laptop!.

This laptop is usedfor at least 4 hours daily. It has gotten me through nursing school and hasn’t slowed down in the almost two years I’ve had it. It flips which is nice for movies. I love the interface and the computer keyboard is perfect and lights up.

My ONLY complaint is that the brightness doesn’t turn up as much as I would like. I would definitely recommend the laptop. When I need a new laptop and it has the Ryzen processor I will be purchasing.

I have so much trouble with this laptop. It has not been 1 year that I bought it and it is in repair for the 3rd time. Also the HP support is a very painful experience. Every time I have an issue I spend HOURS on the chat following instructions.

Instead of HP doing the checks and fix they make the customer do them. A very painful process! Once the laptop came back from repair and the windows key was not even entered. I had to again waste time with the HP support to get this fixed.

Or if an issue cannot be reproduced they will just send the laptop back from repair. I am very disappointed by this HP product and HP support.

I bought this a year ago, and it has a decent battery life and processing power, as well as a good looking design, and the touch screen is very responsive. However, it has some critical design flaws.

Starting with the most minor of them, the rubber spacers used to support the screen when closed leave residue on the screen itself that needs to be wiped away EVERY TIME YOU CLOSE THE LAPTOP. I accidentally put on a screen protector while there was a mark, and now there is a semi permanent mark on my screen from it.

Second, frequently, when I wake the computer from sleep mode, THE TOUCHPAD AND KEYBOARD ARE DISABLED, forcing me to use the touch screen until I restart the computer, which sometimes fixes the issue.

Lastly, the laptop OVERHEATS ALL THE TIME. After a month, the back strip of rubber on the back MELTED OFF and won’t go back on. In conclusion it functions, but they did very little testing of the device, and there are much better options out there.

I was looking for a small laptop to take it with me when I travel or go to work. It is not easy to find a 11-12 inches laptop nowadays which is not a Chromebook (I am not a fan of the Chrome OS). So, I was very excited when I saw this option.

I’ve tried it out only for one day so far and I can’t be happier! For the money this is a very powerful machine. The screen quality is unexpectedly decent (the colors are vibrant but not oversaturated).

The touch screen is very responsive (not as on an iPad or a Samsung tablet but better than on a Microsoft Surface device). The build quality is not flimsy at all and the keyboard is very comfortable to type on.

I was also a bit concerned about the speed since it is only 4 GB of ram, but so far this laptop is fast enough not to become annoying. I would advise to delete as many unnecessary apps as possible and switch to Google Chrome Internet browser.

The ports offered on this computer is another BIG perk (since you only get usb C ones on many flagships). I need to do presentations at work on a daily basis, so a full HDMI port is a blessing. Usb A and C ports are also available and an inclusion of a micro SD memory card slot is very generous as well.

Maybe the only downside would be the quality of the speakers, but it doesn’t really matter for me since I use headphones anyway. Another thing which impressed me is the casting feature! I was able to connect to my TV screen seamlessly in seconds and mirror the laptop screen projecting all types of content (no cable needed).

The hinges are very stable and those who use other angles or tablet mode won’t be disappointed. This is a stellar device which fills the niche of small, portable laptops on the market and for which you won’t pay an arm and a leg.

I’m only rating this one star because the battery life is ridiculously poor! I’ve owned this little laptop for about a month, I have only used it about five times. The battery starts heating up immediately & and starts to discharge fast! I’m not sure if mine has a faulty battery from the get go, does anyone else have this problem? I love everything else about the laptop, but I’m afraid it won’t last long due to the battery.

The battery literally heats up very hot up to 15 or 20 minutes of using it, it scares me to continue to use it based on how quickly the battery heats up! I got this as a Christmas gift and Best Buy only gives a 15 day warranty return or exchange period so I’m probably stuck with it.

Hopefully they can help me out with this problem. It may just be mine that is faulty.

I expected this to be a little slow, but man this thing out of the box was just pure wasted time waiting for it to load. I wasted my BestBuy bucks on this too. I have never returned an item I have purchased from here, but after the initial set up, it was just not a pleasant experience overall.

If anything HP could have at least made the onboard memory expandable instead of fixating it to the board and leaving it at 4GB. Going to 8GB would have turned out better if that could have been upgraded and I would have offered a much better review than this.

I use this laptop for online shopping, surfing the internet and Zoom. No problems whatsoever. The processor is very fast and reliable. I love the background keyboard light. My favorite feature is that you can use the cursor or the touchscreen.

But since most electronics company are not giving detailed instructions with products anymore, just the quick set up or guide, I suggest downloading the user manual online or Google it. I definitely recommend this laptop.

I got an open box item from the seller! That’s surpassing my expectation. The laptop works great and fast enough for me. The only possible issue is that the hard drive is only 128GB. If you need to download a lot or many applications to install, you will have to upgrade the hard drive.

Actually I’d say on the + side of 4½ stars. With the only complaint being a dead pixel in far upper right hand corner of the screen. It’s barely noticeable and only seen at certain angles. For a sub $400 laptop it’s pretty much loaded with touchscreen and Win10 Home.

I’m not using the “S” function. The PC comes preloaded with Win10 “S” but once you get things setup Win11 “S” starts downloading and installing. Very little HP bloatware. The very first thing I did before setup was open up the back and install an additional 16 gig of DDR4 memory.

It comes with 8 gig installed (one 8 gig stick). There are 2 memory slots that you can install up to 32 gig of memory. I’m now running 24 which is overkill but what the heck. Though the memory runs in dual channel mode, Ryzen processors allow you to run 16 gig in dual channel mode and the additional 8 gig in single channel.

I had a 16gig stick from my old Lenovo laptop so I just went ahead and used it instead of buying another memory stick. I also took a look at the hard drive and the access is super easy for it too. It’s a 256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.

2 SSD. From my old laptop I have a 512 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M. 2 SSD that’s relatively new. I cloned the drive and will use it at such time as I may need it. The opening of the back of the laptop isn’t daunting at all.

Just remove the 8 screws, then use a guitar pick, or similar, to pop open the back. there are excellent youtube videos detailing the procedure. If it’s something you’re not comfortable with then by all means have a tech do it.

I received on Now. 8 th, and when I ordered it was a TSV, the price was so good I couldn’t pass up. I really needed a computer but so close to holidays worried about the monthly price, I’ve had a Q card awhile, so I called and was able to get the payments over 12 months which is wonderful.

It has been running well, what I liked is you can return up to the end of Jan. I figured if anything to go wrong in operation it will show up within the 2 1/2 months. I don’t think it will. The offer to go to Windows 11 came up but I really like Windows 10 and did not take that offer, maybe later.

The sound and video is very good also. I don’t have anything complicated to do, I watch movies, some shopping, bill paying, and some social media to keep in touch with family. I’m very pleased so far.

And Q card you made this affordable, for which I’m greatful !!! Oh what was annoying was the One Drive kept wanting me to get more storage, so I uninstalled it, I have a portable storage to keep all pics etc in, I also got from QVC a few yrs ago, so don’t need all that storage.

I’ve been having problems with it since I received it. There’s noticeable glue between the screen and computer itself, I was having touchpad problems too. I called (I have one of the protection plans) and I was told the touchpad wasn’t working correctly because my laptop wasn’t updated.

So they got into my laptop changed a lot of things then somehow he was right because it started working again. You’re telling me as a college student and an employee at a healthcare facility, in order for my laptop to do basic things like go to settings to turn down the volume from listening to a lecture it has to be updated? On top of that we’re busy people I’m a busy women if it doesn’t automatically update I don’t have time to sit through it and watch it update- not that that should even be a reasoning to why my stuff isn’t working, just because of an update? I can’t even turn anything down- not with the buttons not with my mouse.

Can’t go into settings either. The only thing I’m able to do is go on the internet. The price was unbeatable and it really seemed like it would have been a really good laptop. Maybe I just have bad luck! FYI I am returning it and I hope none of you have this same issue, it sucks.

This is a customized laptop, and its running quite amazing. I’ll include what I customized below and hopefully it’ll make it into the review. I tend to ramble in my reviews so it won’t be too organized, but I still try to make them useful.

I set it up and used it before I handed it over to my mother in law who uses it for bills, shopping, and YouTube. She’s had no complaints about the laptop either thankfully. I was also impressed with the speakers.

We’re no audiophiles here, and I prefer headphones, but the speakers built in will do the job when needed. I upgraded the WiFi since it was only $20 and it feels worth it. 500mb/s down and 50 up on WiFi, but I know this will vary from household to household due to router potential and WiFi interference.

Upgraded the screen to 1080p because that’s my preference of standards, but the standard screen will still work of course. Its bright enough at its peak brightness, but its not over the top bright even at its peak if that’s what you like.

I also included 16gb of ram since again that’s my preference of standards and I won’t delve into the reasons. 8gb should be done away with at anything over 500$. Same with ram speeds under 3000 ram speed, which thankfully this laptop has 3200.

Again these are minor things alone, but added together can make a difference at times. Anything to reduce the number of hiccups in the experience. I did not test the microphone/camera. Setup was smooth and there was very little of what I’d consider bloatware.

Replaced McAfee with Norton since that’s her preferred anti virus service and I removed the office trial to prevent annoying notifications and to keep it from running silently in the background. I don’t recall what else I removed off hand, but it wasn’t much overall.

System still ran good out of the box though. The outside is a type of plastic, not metal, but it still felt surprisingly sturdy and pretty light for a 17″ screen. The touch pad was very responsive and is a good size.

The backlit keyboard I opted for looks nice even on the lowest setting so this will help when typing in a dimly lit room. The keys themselves are good to type on. The cpu is at its base, there was no need to upgrade for the its purpose.

Not premium, but not cheap either. Its a good balanced laptop overall. I got this on sale for 180$ off the top, so I put that back into the laptop to get some upgraded features and it came out about the same.

Well worth it in my opinion. If I had to get the base model, it would probably be a good laptop, but I’d still upgrade the ram if nothing else. Note for Gaming: I have no direct feedback on it for gaming since it wasn’t bought for that, but based on the specs and the built in graphics then it should still handle some light gaming without an issue.

First let me note that hp controls the reviews as they have removed my honest review 2 times already so who knows how many more they are preventing you from seeing. I have followed all their rules but it’s negative about the product so it gets removed.

Had I seen a review like mine I would not have purchased this laptop. So here is my review again it has been modified in an attempt to not be removed by hp and the bias staff again I have had eight HP laptops over the past couple of years and every year I order one the quality the workmanship the durability continues to go down lower and lower this is by far one of the poorest built laptops that I’ve ever had from HP.

Let me first begin with saying that the estimated ship date they blew that by three weeks and that means nothing if you’re expecting to receive it on a specific date and mine was not even during the holidays so.

Upon arrival it’s packed well with minimal material in fact there’s nothing in it other than the computer and the power cable no papers whatsoever which is good for the environment. it comes preloaded with a ton of programs at HP is loaded up from providers and VirusScan programs that just bog down the computer.

Then you spend an hour and a half removing programs there are so many on there. So now down to the build couple of issues this laptop does not allow a fingerprint reader. the keyboard is by far the biggest downfall it is by far the weakest and cheapest keyboard they make.

it feels as if it is a child’s keyboard it’s very thin plastic there’s no springs on the keys and so you’ll find yourself double pressing keys because they don’t activate all the way. this is for a full size island numeric keypad.

The keys are so thin you don’t even realize that they’re there compared to a traditional keyboard that they made in the past. The past hp made ones which are a much higher quality of all the things on the computer that’s gonna get use the most to keyboard they spent the least amount of money making a good product.

No I don’t have the backlit one because I figure there’s one more thing to go wrong on the computer worrying about lights and the inside of a keyboard. BAD THING IS there is no other keyboard option to change out for a better or a higher quality keyboard.

so buyer beware this is the biggest pitfall of this. The next problem and this is just a constant issue with HP because they are not aware of their customer base but the mouse pad is set up for a right handed person.

meaning the actual touchpad is left of center on the computer for a right handed person to use it. A left-handed person needs it on the right of center location so it makes it a little more difficult to use.

there are no additional buttons on the keypad it’s one single pad and you press in different locations for the right left clicks and I find that even with maximum sensitivity the slightest amount of moisture oil anything on your fingers completely deactivate the function of the touchpad compared to the ones in the past which had a smooth surface this one actually has a pitted surface on it so that you have more texture but is by far less sensitive.

it’s much harder to do fine detail work if you’re doing Photoshop programs or anything like that you can’t do it with this touchpad it’s terrible. I have the AMD 5700 processor series 7 and is extremely fast and 16 gig of memory with a 1 TB solid-state drive it is extremely quiet does not get hot.

so it is a good computer as far as that is built. But it is actually the AMD processor that makes it good The speakers are weak on this they are put underneath the computer so they’re actually facing in the wrong direction it almost sound when you hear the audio come out they’re muffled.

The other issues there’s only four connectivity ports on the entire computer 1 USB-C, 2 USB 3. 0‘s and 1 HDMI that’s it. Oh and the ports are all on the left side only which makes it hard to connect some devices.

there’s no networking cable there’s no second port for an audio or any other device to be plugged into and it does come with a SD card reader but it’s better if they just put another USB port and get rid of the SD card reader.

you have more practical uses for the USB port. I find that the real tech network card has a problem that if you have a mesh net work or you have body to G and a 5G network in your house the computer will naturally continually want to pick the 2.

4 G networked and step down rather than stepping up to the 5G and it’s a flaw in the design of the network card to matter what you can do unless you turn off your radio for your 2. 4 net work which most other things in your house probably run on it will not stay on the 5.

would I recommend this computer? not really as far as the processor and everything absolutely that’s great hard drive all that stuff fantastic. But the actual physical feel you would get it and you’re gonna feel like it was made from cheap plastic in some factory.

the quality just feels like it’s a cheap product. It is extremely light which is great but it feels as if you drop it it’s going to break into 1 million pieces. the outer shell is so thin they put no quality into protecting your computer at all.

if you sign up for the first responders discount they get 10% off. Well thats not true because HP all they do is raise the price to the full retail price and then takeoff the 10% !!! With a first responder discount it was $919.

As a person off the street and the current sales. $696!!! so you’re better off signing in as a guest and getting whatever specials and deals they have on the computer because you’re paid less than if your first responder and here they make it sound like you’re getting a discount as a first responder.

Understand how you’re going to use or who your buy this computer for. This is not a gaming machine or using it for 3dcad. This computer is excellent for schoolwork, facebook/social media, watching hbo or netflixs, keep the books on for a small business.

The keyboard is very soft, but the track pad works well, and the build quality feels good. You can customize this machine and to get the most out of it, I would suggest a bump up in memory to 16gb (you will be so much happier with this upgrade alone).

I would suggest the 256gb hard drive for the few dollars more, it really should have the 512gb hard drive as standard, but it was too expensive of an option for me at time of purchase. The Back Light keyboard option, hiding in the keyboard options, not available on all case colors, makes such a large quality of life upgrade (Note-the keyboard backlight is off by default, you push F5 to turn on, not FN+F5 like all other laptops- I almost RMA’ed the laptop thinking the backlight wasn’t working).

I would suggest you uninstall some of the bloatware (programs running in the background, eating battery life). Choose one of the 1080p panels options. I got touch screen option; it works very well. If I was using this laptop in an office with bright florescent lights overhead, the screens would not be bright enough (250 nits is screen brightness, and you should really have 300 minimum for bright offices) but in my normal house, under normal house lighting, I’m happy with the brightness of the screen.

Overall, this is a laptop at a price, and if you get all the bells and whistles then you should look for a high tier machine, but with some careful customizing (16gb of ram is most is important), this laptop can be an absolute steal with a very long usable life.

Ever since I had this machine built and sent to me, the touchpad has never worked correctly. When the computer is on my lap, the touchpad left button stays clicked. I have tried all the “tricks” to get it working.

It is clearly an issue that the touchpad is getting caught on the frame as there is zero gap on the left side and a large gap on the right I contacted HP support for a send in repair and they want me to backup everything to the cloud and reinstall windows 10.

My computer is windows 11. It took 44 minutes for me to get frustrated with HP support telling them it is a hardware issue and not a software issue before I gave up. Not sure who is handling support, but they need a new script.

Now I just have to deal with it. Frustrating to say the least.

Purchased this computer from HP – brand new. I’ve been using it for less than 2 months now. 3 major problems from day 1: 1. Tried different wireless Bluetooth headphones, no sound. Bluetooth signal intermittent, connects/disconnect for no reason.

Spend hours with customer service, issue wasn’t fixed. 2. Sometimes this computer won’t wake up from sleep and hard restart is required. 3. Display brightness issue. I have to use the brightness at 100% otherwise it’s too dim.

Looks good but low quality laptop – stay away.

Quick setup, but had to max out screen brightness – The default brightness setting is pretty dull. Disappointed in the resolution at 1366 x 768 and didn’t catch that spec and assumed a convertible laptop like this would be 1920 x 1080.

Colors were washed out, and keyboard with silver on silver was hard to read. Glossy, reflective screen. Probably would have canceled the online purchase had it been on display at the store when I went to pick it up.

Easy return and refund. If laptops were on display, probably would have picked up a different one. but nothing was out.

We’ve made sure all drivers and ports are squared away. This is an HP doing what classic HP does. I was so excited to get out of having a Chromebook, another HP product that is famously known for always needing to restart as well, and here I am, with the same HP problem.

My experience with HP the past ten years has been like sticking with a cheap car brand, because it’s affordable you buy it, but after you own it, you realize why it’s so terribly mediocre. To note, I do not use this laptop to its full potential.

Plenty of memory still left on it, I mostly browse the internet and send some emails, no streaming or uploading of any kind. I’m too scared to venture into using this model for the reason I bought it – the drawing tablet HP was so proud to create for this model – because I just know I will be entirely disappointed.

Why? Because the laptop already regularly loses my webpages and emails as I’m using them, there’s no telling when it wants to restart, but once it wants to, anything using the internet is cut off and not retrievable after the restart.

I can’t imagine creating a work of art or just even having a little fun doodling, only for the laptop to decide it wants to restart and lose everything. I DO NOT recommend this product from HP. I am so verily disappointed.

The sales tech at Best Buy was so firm in his pitch to buy this product and we are so sad we listened. We should have gotten out of the HP brand when we had the chance. I’m going to Office Space this garbage HP Envy – it’s that terrible.

There seems to be a lot of confusion about the features of this model laptop. This review is for model 15-eh0090wm. It has never had a backlit keyboard, a 1TB 128 GB SSD, etc. The Ryzen 4500U processor is significantly faster than others that are commonly available in this price range, such as the Intel i5 1035G1, and this laptop offers a 512 GB SSD storage instead of the typical 256 GB SSD that can leave some users starving for more room.

All the USB ports are high speed instead of mix of standard and high speed. This boost in performance for the price range is what drew me to this model. Good keyboard, good tactile feel, not mushy and allow fast typing with confidence.

I removed it from the box and set it up quickly with no issues. Have been using it daily for the last 2 weeks, no issues whatsoever. The only complaint, and it’s not just this model – a lot of the laptops these days come with a 1 piece touchpad with integrated mouse left and right buttons.

I like the models that have a touchpad, but a separate set of mouse key buttons at the base that are not part of the touchpad, left and right and requires a specific action to click the buttons without ambiguity.

If you’re using a laptop as a business computer, and you’re conducting important or costly transactions, the last thing you want is an accidental mouse click that could cause a premature click of approval, purchase or agreement or unintended dollar amount, and the integrated mouse keys can tend to increase the possibility of that kind of an accident.

However, it’s become increasingly difficult to find laptops built like this for business users to the point that they can be a rare find. As it is, you can configure the touchpad on this laptop to prevent some actions occurring that helps, and unless I’m in a motel room or business conference, I often use a wireless mouse and keyboard at work and home that negates the disgusting integrated touchpad risks.

This is a solid laptop with solid specs and I have almost no complaints. It’s super quick. Starts up and shuts down in about 2-3 seconds. According to another reviewer, contrary to the product description, the ram is upgradeable.

I haven’t done that myself yet as it gets the job done flawlessly. I ran some benchmarks and it exceeded my expectations. The audio is phenomenal. The camera quality is great. I was able to score a very tiny webcam cover from Amazon.

The bezels are extremely thin so it was king of a mission to find a webcam cover to fit the tiny bezel. On Amazon: Cimkiz Webcam Cover Slide 0. 022in Ultra Thin Metal Magnet I purchased this as an upgrade from my surface pro 3 and I have to admit that I do miss the convenience of the backlit keyboard.

It’s definitely not a deal breaker, but it’s something to note. It’s a bit of a challenge to see the keys in darkness even with the screen light. With that being said, I ordered reflective stickers to throw onto the keyboard and I’m hoping that will fix that “issue” for me.

Other than that, it’s been powering through my many chrome tabs as well as photo editing software and running music in the background, flawlessly. It does get a little warm and the fan comes on when it’s working hard but it’s not hot and the fan isn’t insanely loud either.

Oh and battery life has been amazing so far.

Let me start off by saying that this was a nice little laptop, but I did ultimately return it. The laptop itself is nice. Booted up quickly and got things running pretty easily. It was also my first introduction to Windows 11 which isn’t as bad as I initially thought it would be.

Ran some videos on YouTube, Netflix, and Disney+ without a problem, and programs like Word and Excel were working with no problem at all. Sound was decent and picture was good quality. The issue, which is really my fault and in no way an issue with the laptop, is when she was trying to play both Minecraft (Bedrock) and Roblox.

There were only a few reviews and questions on both for this laptop, so hopefully this can help out some other parents (or young adults if this laptop is for you) out. Let me start off by saying that this laptop will run and play both games.

But if your child has played either game on console or with another desktop or laptop with better specs than this one, be prepared to have them tell you how it looks a bit different and is a bit slower with movements and responses.

Minecraft runs pretty well, but runs better if you go in an adjust some of the settings. The lack in response and movement is there, but for a youngster who doesn’t know better, is definitely playable without too much of an issue.

Like I said, unless your young person has already been playing on a better system, they won’t really know too much better. The only time it slows a bit is when there is a drastic change like falls from certain heights or something where the graphics have to change and load quickly.

Roblox is a bit of a hit or miss depending on the game they are playing. I do not play the game too much, but as I understand it, there are different games within the game that are a bit more intense than others, and will ask more of your system depending on which one of the games you play.

Mostly like Minecraft, the games she plays on Roblox were doing ok, but definitely not as good as her previous laptop or her Xbox. So, like I said, more so there are no issues with the laptop itself.

It just was not able to suit exactly what she wanted and had become accustomed to. Like I said, unless this your childs first laptop and experience playing Minecraft or Roblox, I would recommend something with a bit faster processor and a bit better graphics.

Although this laptop meets the minimum specs to run both games, your kids experience will be better with a better laptop. That being said, I would definitely recommend this laptop for everyday use for things like homework, casual internet browsing, social media, and streaming some movies, shows, and videos.

Definitely made me feel better about my eventual upgrade to Windows 11 on my machine and other kids’ laptops. Overall, laptop is a great choice for the casual everyday user.

I have had this a few months and overall I like it a lot. I use it mainly to watch online videos. I run the HDMI output to my video projector. For web sites like youtube I play the videos off my Fire Stick, but some of the videos I watch are on free-speech platforms like Locals and those aren’t all available on Fire Stick.

The next thing I have been working on doing with this laptop is to see whether I can use it as a music server when I am working out. My plan was to run songs on the laptop on itunes and run the audio from the headphone jack to a bookshelf stereo.

One challenge was that my itunes library is too big to fit on the laptop’s storage. Fortunately I just discovered that you can open itunes in a way that lets you select an alternative itunes library.

So I was able to open itunes so that it is linked to my itunes library which I have on a flash drive plugged into the USB port. Looks like it works just fine. My one remaining concern is that it appears that the sound output from the headphone jack is weak and not very good fidelity.

I tried outputting it to my stereo receiver and I had to crank the volume way up and the bass and treble seem poor. Now this would appear to be a weakness not just for my particular application but in general if you want to listen to music from the laptop.

The sound quality is poor if you listen to the laptop with earbuds. I think the audio straight out of the laptop’s speakers is pretty poor also. I think the sound quality is better if you are exporting the signal from the laptop’s HDMI port, but that’s an awkward interface if you are just want the audio output and not the video.

My HP desktop PC puts out decent audio so I don’t see why they can’t make all their computers that way. Overall, though, it’s a good laptop.

I’m a college student with a home desktop computer I use for most things. I bought this laptop after my old computer broke so I could get some work done on the go on campus. It was very slow, which I expected from a laptop this cheap, but it got the job done and the battery life was surprisingly good.

What I did not expect was for it to barely last 2 months. I treated it well, never dropped it, was careful to avoid overcharging. A little over 2 months after buying it, I was using it to watch a YouTube video and the screen turned black and started occasionally flashing bright white.

I shut it down and stopped using it for a few weeks, and got it to work a couple times when I tried after that. Now it won’t turn on at all. Most of the time when I try to power it up, I get the black screen with the flashing white, sometimes I get a blue screen, sometimes just a black screen.

This is unacceptable, I strongly warn any future buyers to reconsider. I didn’t pay for a laptop to have it completely break after 2 months of light use.

I have a couple other HP laptops with i5 processors and they were quite good; the only shortcoming was their screens, not the same as in this 15. 6″ i7 machine. This screen is crystal clear, and as bright or as muted as the user chooses.

And processing time compared with the i5 laptops I’ve had is about 2x to 3x faster in comparison. I went back and forth between a 15″ and 17″ laptops; but the 17″ models are simply too large for a portable device.

I use mine at home 90+ percent of the time, but I do move it from my den to my another room. And lugging the 17″ just wouldn’t have worked for me. If you’re going to treat as a desktop, you may never move it.

Anyway, this model fits the bill for this old guy. Even with aging eyes, I can work with this screen size. T he keyboard is not an issue; and the battery life seems to be okay. Who doesn’t want more battery life? But the battery life is about five hours thus far (it’s still new and I’m told battery life should improve after several charge cycles.

And the laptop has an adjustable night filter that takes the bright edge off the cold-temp screen illumination. I used an outboard CD/DVD to load my software and deleted some of the HP/Microsoft-loaded programs.

For those who say this PC doesn’t shut down: if you mean that it doesn’t close Google Chrome, tell Chrome not to run apps in the background after closing Chrome, because the browser will continue to run.

Go to Settings, Advanced, System, and click Off when you see “Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed”. It will solve the Chrome not shutting down issue. If you’re coming from a desktop PC, it will take a few weeks to get used to a laptop keyboard, but it will happen, just stay with it.

This is a nice laptop and really fast. I was familiar with Windows 11 before buying this; I had a Windows 10 machine I upgraded to 11. For the record, my buying a machine with Win 11 as its native OS, my add-on software, like Logitech Setpoint, runs much more efficiently.

Would I buy it again? On sale, At $700,I felt this was a good value compared with similar laptops with less RAM, smaller SSD, and i3 or i5 processors.

The screen has lighting inconsistencies on the edges. The bottom casing wants to ‘bend in’–the material is not quite strong enough to avoid capitulating to the weight of the device. You will notice this when picking up and holding the device.

I suggest getting a dark colored laptop (mine is fog blue–you will want to pick something you will enjoy looking at for a few years, so the extra ten bucks shouldn’t be a deal-breaker here) to ensure the keys have better contrast–so you can actually see them! I have trouble seeing the keys on silver HP laptops I’ve used in the past.

The backlit keyboard helps you see the keys better (when the lights are on) with the fog blue color (and obviously when the lighting is dim). In terms of delivery, supply chain issues were horrendous! It seems that I was one of the lucky ones, too, because my order arrived Christmas Eve (even though I got it for a December birthday–it was purchased on Black Friday).

The original arrival date was December 14th. As far as the computer itself goes, the stuff ‘under the hood’ seems very performant. HP cheated out on the external materials to keep the price down and get us a relatively inexpensive upper-mid tier laptop.

All things considered, a 16Gb ram, eight-core cpu machine for $735 (includes tax) was a pretty good deal, especially if you plan on using external accessories most of the time. The battery is nothing to write home about, but it’s good enough for most people.

The fan is quiet, which is nice! The heaviest workload I use this for is coding, and it does a good job–you can reserve a few cores to run things in parallel without compromising your ability to use the computer during execution.

I do not play games, so I do not have any input on that end.

HP have three different levels of laptop, the high end Spectre, the mid level Envy and the entry level Pavilion. Its surprising, then, that theyve chosen to use the rather fetching style from the recent 13 Envy models for their latest Pavilion and some of the great quality features alongside it.

As Stationery Packs lump all their reviews together, Ill make it clear that this is a review of the Pavilion 13an0006na with an i58265U and 8GB RAM. BuildFrom the moment you open the case its clear this is a quality laptop.

The mix of metal and plastic in the case looks great in silver both outside and inside the case. The keyboard looks smart with slightly raised keys that feel comfortable to use and dont make too much noise to type on.

They are background lit so easy to see in a darkened environment. The trackpad is a little small, not surprising for a 13 laptop. It works well, though isnt the best one Ive used. ScreenThe screen has fairly thin bezels around the sides and top with a larger one at the bottom.

Its actually a very nice screen for the price with good viewing angles and great colours and brightness. I was very impressed with watching Netflix on this and playing games. Sound comes from the speaker grill behind the keyboard and sounds good for a laptop of this size.

Its not going to fill a room but you dont expect that in any laptop but it does sound clear. Ports2 USB 3 ports are included alongside a newer USB C port, which can actually be used to charge the laptop in place of the dedicated charger if you have a USB C plug with enough output.

An HDMI port meant I could easily plug this in to a monitor at my desk if needed. Its nice that HP have kept the fingerprint scanner from the Envy for easy Windows Hello login without needing to type a password and its fairly good at recognising your finger once you got used to the placement on the side of the case.

PowerInside the laptop youll find the latest 8th generation intel i5, a four core powerful CPU that can handle plenty of tasks. Its fast but also efficient, meaning that my battery has lasted 910 hours on average.

There is no dedicated graphics card in this model but its actually surprising that the 620 integrated graphics on this chip can cope with a fair few games on low settings. Even titles like Skyrim and Borderlands 2 work smoothly on the laptop and my daughter can easily play Roblox and minecraft from the windows store.

Startup is fast with the included 256gb SSD drive, though space is limited once you start adding software. It does have the SD card slot to use for more storage, though. From initial setup, Windows takes you through everything needed to start your PC and then HP adds a layer of optional software on top, setup was really easy.

Some apps, like Netflix and the Office suite were installed already and there were options for more. These can also be easily uninstalled from the Apps section of Windows settings if not required. summaryThe HP 13an0006 is a great little 13 laptop that is easy and light to carry around but provides a lovely clear, bright display and plenty of power from the intel chip under the hood.

Its ideal for those who dont want a big laptop using up lots of space but still want to do all the things a full sized pc can do.

Overall: Pretty solid laptop. This is my daily driver for school work and it has almost replaced taking notes on paper after a brief adjustment period. The Pen: The pen that comes with this laptop might be the only annoying part.

I started having issues with its accuracy on and off within the first few months. The pen broke completely within the first year. If the pen isn’t a big factor, then this is a fine laptop, but the 2-in-1 functionality may be an unnecessary feature.

The Screen: Can’t recommend paying for 4k for most people though. The screen is so small that most people won’t be able to notice any real difference between a 1080p image and 4k. If you hook up the device to a larger 4k display at home or work regularly, then the added cost of a 4k screen might be more justified.

That being said, a 15. 6″ screen is my personal preference because anything smaller gets too cramped for me. So if you go smaller, then a 4k resolution gets more and more pointless in my view. Trackpad/Keyboard: Pretty satisfactory.

Nothing all that good or bad to make note of. Position of the trackpad was a little strange in my opinion, but it’s not any real issue. Sound/Webcam: Don’t plan on this being a great set of speakers at parties.

It’s perfectly fine if you’re just watching videos in bed or listening to music while doing chores, but it isn’t a dedicated sound system, so temper your expectations. I have issues getting the laptop to properly work with my headphones and galaxy buds.

I can hear audio through apps like Zoom just fine, but the laptop does not receive input properly from headphones (via wired or bluetooth; and both have been tested with other devices successfully). The camera switch is a cool feature though.

Camera quality is also fine. Nothing particularly special. Build Quality and I/O: Pretty pleased with the physical build so far. Aesthetically, it is a very pretty laptop, and the hinges feel pretty good.

It doesn’t open up fully without holding the base down, but it transitions smoothly into tablet mode. The ports are a big factor for me personally. With HDMI, 1 USB-A port, 2 USB-C ports (with one for power delivery), and a headphone jack, I have enough flexibility to connect just about any device.

There is no ethernet port or SD card slot though, so if those are important to you, you will need a dedicated dongle (and at that point the ports on the actual laptop are unnecessary, so that might justify shopping for other options).

In summary, I’m pretty pleased overall. It’s my personal, school, and work laptop. I do a lot of note taking, writing, and some coding from time to time (nothing fancy or all that demanding except some MATLAB work).

If you’re searching for something with lots of power from a GPU, this isn’t for you. But if you’re searching for a higher-end PC for everyday use, then this will fulfill most of your needs.

BUYER BEWARE, AVOID THE INTEL ARC GRAPHICS: I ordered a brand-new CTO HP Spectre 16 from HP. com back in June with the Intel i7-1260P CPU/Intel ARC A370M GPU, 32GB RAM, 2TB 4×4 SSD, AMOLED display, and the Intel AX411 Wi-Fi card – on paper, a truly high performing and well equipped computer that was expensive.

I waited for a month and a half before I finally received the product in the mail and in the interim, I saw various videos and forum posts about how **terrible** the Intel ARC GPU lineup was. I contemplated cancelling my order; however, I decided to give the computer the benefit of the doubt and experience it hands-on before and see if Intel would fix the problems before doing that.

Initially, the Intel ARC A370M GPU showed itself to be very buggy, I updated the GPU with drivers from Intel’s page (as HP does not have a support page yet for this product (. go figure. )) and it seemed to fix the GPU and allow basic usability.

However, this changed when I attempted to use basic programs such as Adobe Acrobat, Lightroom, Photoshop, or even do some light gaming. The programs would either: (1) not load at all and crash; (2) be pixelated/have artifacts that rendered them unplayable (Sims 4 and SWTOR would not play on the ARC A370M at all); or (3) blue screen the entire system.

I cannot believe that HP (and other manufactures that use this GPU, for that matter) would allow something this terrible to be sold to customers in what seems like a beta test run. For the $$$$, you’d expect to not feel like a guinea pig with a terrible buggy product that cannot even run basic day-to-day programs or do light gaming.

On top of that, Intel is rumored to be pulling the plug on the ARC graphic series altogether, which does not inspire confidence in the long run. My suggestions to you is to: (a) purchase the Iris Xe versions of this laptop as that graphics card is acceptable for daily usage; or, (b) to purchase a different laptop and avoid the ARC A370M and all other variants of the Intel ARC lineup altogether as they are terrible first-generation products.

15 days into this, I am very disappointed in this computer and I have spoken to HP to obtain a return authorization for the product. You’ve been warned.

I own the 2020 15. 6 inch HP Spectre x360 and am a big fan of the Spectre line of laptops. Decided to try out the new 16-inch non-OLED HP Spectre x360 with integrated graphs and fell in LOVE with it (will give my 2020 Spectre to a family member).

I was, however, curious if the 16-inch OLED HP Spectre x360 with discrete graphs might be a worthwhile upgrade. Newsflash, it ain’t. Everything between the two laptops is the same except for the screen resolution, GPU, and amount of internal storage.

Sadly, there is no major difference between the two screens (HPs non-OLED screens are that good). If anything colors on the OLED model appear a bit oversaturated. I do not game, do not edit videos, 3D model, etc.

so the more powerful GPU is just an unnecessary expense, rather than an upgrade. Since both laptops have a microSD card slot, more internal storage is also an expense for me. I purchased this laptop for about $50 less than the 16-inch non-OLED model (open-box discount and Best Buy gift cards).

Even at around the same price of the 16-inch non-OLED model, I still won’t recommend this laptop because of the inferior battery life associated with OLED screen. Results of standardized battery tests (continuous video loop at 150 nits screen brightness or 38%) conducted by internet reviewers reveal a battery life of only 6 to 8 hours.

Conversely, the battery life of my 16-inch non-OLED Spectre is outstanding. I get 14 hours of continuous YouTube (screen brightness at 38%, battery saver and wifi on, bluetooth off). Even more impressive is that I get 8.

5 hours with screen brightness at 100%, wifi on, bluetooth off, battery saver off, and power mode on best performance. So even at full power (100% screen brightness, power mode on best performance), the 16-inch non-OLED Spectre’s battery lasts longer than the 16-inch OLED Spectre’s battery.
