20 Best Hoyer Lift For Home Use (2023 Updated)

I bought this manual hydraulic lift for my mother when she became sick with stroke. Transferring her bed to chair and vise versa became a problem. This hydraulic lift became a lifesaver. For more than five years we used it daily – multiple times a day.

It had with-stood every challenge that we had throw its way. I am writing this review because I know how its like when you wants to find something that will work well for a family member that is not feeling well.

The Invacare Lightweight Hydraulic Patient Lift works great. Easy to assemble. I have no problems with it. I would surely recommend other customers to buy this product. i bought the lift for my brother.

The sling was exactly what we needed! Delivery time was good considering we ordered during the holiday season!

The unit is high quality at a good price, however, this unit is not useful to me. I needed a unit that would reach out further and this one only lifts toward the centerline of the machine. This would be great for some applications but I will probably sell or donate this device in the long run.

We bought this lift for my grandpa, having used other lifts in the past. The GHS350 made it easier to transport him and definitely is easier for toileting. I would recommend this product to anyone who cares for another, as it saves a lot of the backbreaking work of moving them.

Our 92 year old dad needs this to move from bed to chair, chair to toilet, etc. Hes a big guy, and the aides at his assisted living place asked us to get this to help them. It works GREAT. Thanks!

We debated a long time before purchasing this lift mostly because of the price. I needed to get away from all the pumping and I wasn’t wild about the bar that operated the legs on our manual lift. I also wanted something that would fold up for transport.

It is a great improvement over the manual lift. Delivery was quick and ran smoothly. We followed the video on Med Mart’s site for unpacking and setting up the lift. It was pretty easy. We charged the battery and the first time we went to use it nothing happened.

After checking that all the connections were tight, we tried it again and still nothing. Then my husband asked me what the big red button was for. I knew it was the emergency stop. After fiddling with that button, it disengaged and then the lift worked perfectly.

I didn’t see anywhere on the instructions where it said to disengage that button. The lift is easy to work and maneuver. I like the foot pedal that operates the width of the legs. I also use the the black release button alot to get the empty lift around corners to store it.

We have hardwood floors and only one rug. The wheels get a little hung up on the rug so I don’t think it would move that much better on rugs than the manual lift. A sling was included in the purchase.

I ordered a size large but it was way too big for my husband. Unfortunately, customer service told me it could not be exchanged since I had opened it. However, I didn’t know it was too big until I opened it!! Anyway, it works well with the sling we already had.

It’s just ashame that this sling will go to waste. Overall, I am very glad we made this purchase.

I bought this for my handicapped dad since it’s electric and supposedly easy to operate. I had my mom completely charge it before I came to visit and I was going to surprise my dad with it. Well, I got my dad lifted in the air to move him to a chair, but the lift wouldn’t go back down.

It was so embarrassing. I had to manually lower him back to the bed. He hasn’t used the lift since because he’s afraid he’ll be stuck in the air again. By the way, I’m a RN and I’ve worked with lifts before so I’m very familiar with operating them.

My mom called customer service to follow up with this issue, but said no one answered. Too expensive to break down like this ON FIRST USE not to mention no customer support. Very upset customer here.

Absolutely the boss in home hoyer’s. The video was super to follow. Ease of putting it together was simple. Works magnificent! My husband returned home after being in the hospital for over 200 days and very deconditioned.

This lift saved my back, is very safe and efficient and effective. I use it daily without any other help. It is great! Wonderful tech people from this company as well if you have added questions that the instructions or video didn’t answer.

My husband snd I love it. Added plus you can travel with it, it’s light and easy to transport.

just revied the HPL402. comes in one box. 80 lbs or so. UPS in my area isnt the best at treating packages well. some box damage, but the contents were not. I am quite mechanically adept. the included assembly instructions left a lot to be desired.

no list of all the included parts. only close up images that did not give you an idea of part orientation. it is not a hard assembly–but one that should have taken 20 minutes, took over an hour. will begin using this week.

I am 77 and it has gotten harder for me to crank the regular hoyer lift. I recently purchased the electric hoyer lift and it is saving my arms and shoulders. My husband is over 250 and it is working wonderfully.

Received the lift in two days from Amazon. Box weighs 109 lbs. , I’m old and arthritic so I got help from my wife’s aide to just slide it across the floor. It was well packaged, undamaged and although the assembly instructions and images aren’t top notch, it was pretty intuitive as to how it went together.

I was able to assemble it without any help in about 30 minutes. Battery was completely drained on arrival and took 15 hours to charge. The lift first responded to movement after 9 hours. Used the lift 4 times the first day and it took 4 1/2 hours to completely recharge.

The lift is extremely stable (heavier than our old Hoyer) and very easy to maneuver. The chains from our old Hoyers would not fit on the spreader bar (hooks are too wide to fit into the chain links. Fortunately, I also bought some Drive belts recommended by Amazon and they work nicely.

The sling, also recommended by Amazon (large mesh) was not suitable. The position of my wife in transferring her to the wheelchair was too much on her back, even with the top straps at shortest and leg straps at longest.

Had to go back to our old sling which is not available from Hoyer any longer, but found a new one from Invacare. There were no instructions included about how to use the emergency lowering device, but I found a video on a different product where it was demonstrated.

Now I’m concerned about what happens if the battery pack gives out and we need to lift. We use the lift 4 – 7 times each day. I want to order another pack as backup, and the manual lists the part number, but the company’s web site gives no indication at all on ordering any of the replacement parts.

I’ll have to call them this week, and have stored the old Hoyer until I get this backup. I easily taught our main aide how to use the lift and she is ecstatic as to its ease of use over our old model.

Overall I think it was a very good buy and I am pleased.

Follow-up review: Once battery issue was resolved it has worked as design without any issues. If you live in an area with fluctuating electric issues you want to purchase a back-up battery. Original review: The hoist is great when it is working.

Stopped working after a few weeks and it appeared to be a control board. Got the new control board now battery not working. The company does not return calls. Once you get them on the phone they are helpful.

At this point they are impacting the quality of life of my loved one because I can not get it to work.

Don’t pay more for a hoyer lift! This one is very Easy to operate- 30 minutes to assemble. Battery was 7/8 charged when it arrived. Needed for mother who broke ankle and was non-weight bearing for 6 weeks.

Moved from bed, to wheelchair, to recliner chair no problems. Step down pedal to widen base (to straddle chairs) easy to operate even with person in lift! Very sturdy and worked smoothly. Locking mechanism very easy to lock and unlock- just step down.

Nurses aides were very impressed with operation. Most importantly, mom felt safe and secure! Great product.

My husband is my care giver. He is 76 strong but I am dead weight and he has a hard time lifting me from a sitting position He say that this Journey machine is a lifesaver for him We have been using it from the first day received I would like to have a manual for this.

There was none received Also I do want to complain about the service regarding delivery The $3000. 00 machine was delivered and left on a city sidewalk in front of our house. No notice that it was there anyone could have come by and taken it My husband happened to go out and saw it there They could at least left it on the driveway or knock and said that it was on the city sidewalk.

Journey 340 has been a great investment. Our house is small and the Journey fits in right spaces. I am impressed how quickly it lifts and lowers my husband. I just wish the front wheels would be easier to use on carpet.

I highly recommend the Journey.

High quality product purchased for my sister’s personal use, who lives in a long-term care facility. They were all very impressed by the Journey 340 apparatus and its ease of use and and superb quality!.

Working very well, no problems. Instructions needed bigger pictures with better descriptions of assembly.

It makes easy to use and my daughter likes it alot because no more bouncing up and down. Smothers for her on her back.

This is an awesome lift. As a retired CNA I’ve used many through the years. This is for home use for my mother. It is light weight, folds up and stands on its end for convient storage. Love the on board charging system and the caster roll fairly easy on her low cut plie rug.

Almost completely assembled on arrival with easy to follow instructions. Any doubts just watch the tutorial video at Med Mart. GREAT product. thanks.

I really needed help moving my husband around — he has Parkinson’s and can barely manage transfers anymore, and definitely cannot get into bed. I knew we needed this product sooner than later, but he was still skeptical about using it.

It took a few times before he felt “comfortable” about swinging through the air, but he appreciates it now. (And I REALLY appreciate it — it has saved my back!).

We recently bought this lift. I was pleased I could actually talk with a knowledgeable associate. The lift was delivered quickly and was easy to put together by two people. I was pleased the lift came with the universal sling.

I have used the lift several times and so far no problems. The hardest part was figuring out the sling.

I have not used it yet. I purchased it to use if there was a fall as I was home with a non- ambulatory husband who is larger than I am. My sister and brother-in-law assembled it from the instructions and had no problems with assembly.

So far so good. I’ll write another review if I ever need to use it.

First today almost sent it to the wrong address second they got my name wrong third they dumped it off on my sidewalk without any help of bringing it in and putting it together had they told me this from the beginning that it wouldn’t be delivered properly I would’ve never bought it and I would’ve went with another company.

I’m trying to get a hold of them is futile. Horrible customer service will never buy from again It’s still sitting in a box in my living room I can’t even put it together.

Received my lift 2 days ago and it is great. I’m able to lift my husband easily, even from the floor (he fell the eve I got it). Initially had problem with remote not working but a phone call fixed that problem ( just remove o-ring on connector).

My life, and back, are so much better off with this. I highly recommend this lift-easy assembly, easy to maneuver and use. Thanks so much!!!.

I don’t know how this works because the sling for lifting the patient was not included with the lift and nobody from this company was any help. I ordered the sling the very next day and I still don’t have it.

It has been over a month now that we have been waiting to use this medical equipment. Hard to review something that has not even arrived yet. Telling me something is on backorder does not lift the patient up.

When I ordered the lift nobody told me that it would be such a problem getting a body sling. When you are selling the lift, why is it that you don’t have the body sling in stock and then you don’t warn anyone that there is such a wait to use this product.

My wife’s Lift Cylinder was leaking by and I would need to pump the Lift back up only to have it leak back down. this Cylinder is a direct replacement for our Invacare 9805P and worked perfectly right out of the box.

It installed in less than 5 minutes with no issues at all. No more leaking down or having to pump the Handle while using. Great value, great eBay Vendor. 5 Star in my book !!!.

It came missing a key part. I couldn’t get thru to Walmart so I contacted Drive. The rep wanted me to return it even though this was a small part. After lots of back and forth the rep agreed to send the part.

I said all this to say this. It is easy to use and we should have gotten one for my mom much sooner. So order it and if it is missing a part call Drive and insist they send the part.

Don’t take a chance. This product was not quite right for us, and when we tried to return it, we were informed that it could not be returned. Now we can’t use it, we can’t return it, and we’re stuck with it.

Buyer beware. Why Amica would carry a product that can’t be returned I don’t know.
