20 Best Hooded Hair Dryers For Home (2023 Updated)

I have upgraded from the basic hand held hair dryer to this bonnet stand dryer. Can I say AWESOME!!! Did not know what I was missing until I purchased it. Some people have to see it to believe well this is an item that you would want to add to your household.

It literally cuts dry time in half. I like to wet set my hair with rollers yes somewhat old school but it cuts down on the day to day wear-n-tear of constantly putting heat on the hair which ultimately helps your hair to be healthier.

If you are on the fence about purchasing this item I’d say JUMP. You will not regret this purchase.

I can’t believe the effing picture of this wratchet broken box they have to represent this product! But, here we go. I have an elderly aunt (93) who has her hair done in the home. Bought this for her hairsresser (a new one) who had to learn how to do “old lady ” hair.

Anyway, easy to set up, very powerful and all that we needed. Goood value for what it is.

Wife only used it once because we just got it. But she loves it. Seems sturdy enough. It’s really not compact just look at it. It’s as compact as it’s going to get. I guess it would be if you take it apart every time you use it but that would be a waste of time but for those who could roll it to a place that it’s not in the way then that would be ideal and convenient.

But 5 stars so far. We would recommend it.

Can this dryer be used behind any chair? And is it recommended? I’ve use the portable floor type with wheel base. I feel like the base takes up too much floor space. Also heat is high and low setting, nothing in between.

I’m often experimenting with my hair and adding curls. This is perfect for comparable salon drying time and results. It gets hot and is very effective in drying my hair in a reasonable amount of time.

The size of it is a bit bulky, but it also folds down to a workable size. I like mine so much I’ve bought 2 over the years. I actually ended up giving one to a friend. These also last a long time. I’ve had mine for over 5 years and it still does what it’s supposed to.

This is a very convenient hair dryer that doesn’t burn your head! Yaaaaaaaaay!! Finally an old-school dryer that works. Recommended.

I love this dryer. It was easy to put it together. The only negative thing is that its very loud even on low settings. This could be because Im not use to sitting under a dryer. But overall I really love it! I would recommend it.

I’ve had this for about 9ish months now and for the past 3 months have been using it approximately every 2 weeks for about 2 hours. This is a great quality hair dryer for the price however you have to get creative when it comes to the seating so your whole head is actually in the dryer instead of frying your scalp and roots.

Also the low setting is VERY low, practically useless while the high setting is not the greatest for drying soaking wet hair but is more than adequate with damp hair. I think this product is well worth the price and would repurchase; not sure if I’d be willing to repurchase at a higher price point.

I love this dryer so much; I change things around with my hair to style the way I want. It is great for drying different lengths of hair; mine is long. My hair stays nice and moisturized because of the quality of the hair drying.

I like to do different sets to my hair; so this perfect for me.

Absolutely satisfied with my purchase. The price was really great and target shipped it super quick. I like the ease of this dryer and how portable it is. If you are short you might need a pillow or some type of booster as this sits high for taller people and is not adjustable for lower setting it is only adjustable for higher lengths.

I’ve had my fair share of stand alone dryers that ALL broke at the neck of the bonnet. So far, this dryer seems to be very sturdy. I absolutely love that this dryer activates a warm level of air for a few seconds, while under the dryer, instead of burning my ears off at a consistent high heat.

The timer the heat control buttons have really allowed me to know exactly how long, depending the style, it will take since the consistency in heat is perfect. Its also really quiet and doesn’t make the entire room hot like most of my other dyers did.

This dryer is hotter than the devils breathe. It have temperature settings but i does not work. Continuously blowing out the hottest air it can. In a addition. The angle it sits is uncomfortable for the clients.

Will be returning.

Although this does get hot, I wish it fanned out more air, had larger fans or stronger fan strength rather than just the added heat. It’s nice to have when I’ve mostly let my hair air dry but to use it with wet hair is torture for me.

I already hate sitting under these bonnet style dryers but do it to save time drying, this one doesn’t really save time. It is nice to have so I can have my hands free to work while it dries my hair though, primarily roots so that’s why I prefer to use it once my hair has mostly dried since it takes my roots longer to dry.

Works better on shorter hair. Otherwise I find the top of my head being dried while the rest is still wet. With shorter hair, I’m at least able to flip my ends up and dry it all at the same time. Great for use with hair treatments under a cap and before I straighten my hair, though it’s nice with style and go curly looks too.

If you’re like me and do your make-up so your hair has more time to air dry, just remember your forehead is close to the warm/hot air so that can affect your overall look if you like full coverage and maybe have oily skin.

The dryer doesnt get hot enough. It has three settings but it wont go past the second setting. I would like to exchange it for a new one and see if maybe this one is just defective or possibly got jolted during shipping.

I am disappointed in this dryer. I chose this more expensive one thinking it would be a better dryer and that is definitely not the case. The heat only works in the front of dryer. The back doesn’t get any heat.

I have shoulder length hair and had plenty of space left in dryer so to allow for the heat to circulate but that never happened. I had to use my handheld blow dryer to finish my hair. Was.

I lover doing roller on my hair and this is my go to dryer. This product will dry your hair while giving you less heat damage. It does get very hot under there, but it’s worth the heat, because this gives a lot of shine to your hair.

Highly recommend if you love volumes smooth hair.

This is imperative in our household. Myself, 5 daughters and a husband and son who have long hair. It’s perfect to just sit under instead of tiring my hands using a hand held dryer. Unfortunately it’s broke and I can’t blame it.

The poor thing was overused!.

Brought this to replace a Braun hooded hairdryer which I have had for several years. But I find this one not as good, very hard to get the hood over large rollers as you seem to have to put it on back to front.

Also the motor gets quite hot so had to put towel underneath. Even after 40mins my usual time under my Braun my hair was still not dry so had to give it a further 10 mins. I just wish Braun had not stopped making theirs.

Would have expected better for the price.

Omg! I have purchased two of these hair dryers. My first one I ended up having for almost 9 years. The day that it died on me I was so sad. I immediately went out and found another one. I found it a near by beauty supply store.

I think the price range is definitely a good one. It is a great quality hair dryer with multiple heating settings. It is very durable and easy to use. It gets the job done. Holy grail for setting wraps and roller setting.

Bought this dryer a couple weeks ago. So far it works surprisingly well. I have a very short hair cut so the bag is a bit loose on my head as I don’t use curlers or other styling aids that may take up volume.

However, the heat settings are very effective. In fact the highest setting tends to be too high and therefore I maintain the dryer on the medium setting. Otherwise, the dryer works very well and I have had no problems so far.

The first good I hade was from gold n hot. It was okayish. Compared to this, gold n hot is trash. This is ways more sleek and well put together. It’s fit for multiple styles and I actually drys my hair.

The gold n hot seemed to only heat up like a hat and just warms your head.

Looks good. Didn’t realize the dryer part was so huge and heavy. I fe l it’s too heavy for the springing height adjustable pole. It doesn’t well enough and slides down when I take it too high. Doesn’t tighten tight enough to hold the dryer in place.

I normally do not dry my hair but leave it to dry slowly on its own. I do sometimes on occasion use the CHI Pro Low EMF Professional Hair Dryer and Diffuser. I have really long, thick hair so drying it via blow dryer would normally leave my arm tired and sore.

This one though, however does actually seem to dry my hair faster. So, therefore, I give this dryer a thumbs up and recommendations. It’s perfect for either at home drying and styling or salon quality item.

The legs at the bottom are a big long which can make it hard to stow if you don’t have adequate space. Great purchase. Very happy so far I do wish this came with some type of insurance. I’m big on that with these types of purchases but we’ll see how she holds up.

past two years. This is my third dryer. The very first dryer lasted three years or better. Was definitely better quality. This last purchase has lasted maybe fifteen months. Not expecting to purchase a dryer every year at this price point.

I recently started doing oil treatments on my hair and have been using this dryer. It is amazing. The front has a small flap that you can lift to get in and out of instead of having to lift a heavy hood.

I used this softwood hairdryer attachment in combination with the spiral Curlformers and I have to say, I’m obsessed even if I look a little funny wearing it! When I got the curlers in my hair I opened the cute zipper pouch it came in and put it over the curlformers and pulled the drawstring to secure it on my head.

It’s super light weight and comfortable. Then I attached the end to my hair dryer and turned it on low heat and let the hairdryer and the Softhood work it’s magic. I have pretty thin and fine hair so it didn’t take but about 15 minutes to dry.

I did turn the hairdryer to cool setting for about 5 minutes just to lock in the curls. When I took out the curlers I was pretty impressed with the results because my hair typically doesn’t hold curl.

I am so sad at the performance of this dryer. FHI in my opinion is a top of the line brand. I have been in the natural hair industry for well over a decade and know from experience that FHI has the one of the best flat irons on the market, so naturally I assumed the dryer would be just as great.

My niche is blowouts and I strive for excellence, but since I do naturally thick, course, and textured hair, I need a dryer that performs quickly but also gets very hot. This dryer did an efficient job with timing but my clients’ hair was still poofy and frizzy, it didn’t get the hair smooth and silky as I expected.

I was so excited to get this dryer because of it being handleless and lighter which for me means longevity in my career. but it almost seems as if this dryer was not made to do high quality blowouts of textured, course hair.

FHI will remain my favorite brand for Flat Irons but I’m unfortunately having to send this dryer back :(.

I really love the way this dryer performs. I am a professional stylist and really enjoy the handle free design. It’s light weight and the nozzle has a nice feel to it. Doesn’t get hot to the touch. I am not crazy about the button however it’s not a deal breaker at all.

This dryer makes hair shiny & gets the hair dry quickly while keeping noise at a low level. I’ve had dryers in the past that sounded like a leaf blower which is not ideal for working & having a conversation w a client.

So glad I purchased this. love this dryer. I have a lot of coarse, curly/coily hair so often use the comb attachment when straightening to get through it all tangle-free (and I have zero coordination skills so the brush + dryer technique is just nope) and blow drying with a traditional dryer was always a chore because of the awkward angles and need to constantly put the dryer down so I can ready the next section of hair — so cumbersome.

This dryer makes it all so easy – it’s super lightweight but obviously durable and well made, gives even, powerful air flow and temp, and I can maneuver it well. I also love that it has an actual cool setting as opposed to just a cool shot button (which never really works anyway).

I haven’t used it as a diffuser on my curls yet but I’m confident I’ll love it still. I would definitely recommend.

The soft hood for this is great as it didnt completely fill up with air and fly off your head. I had to order from Italy as its not available in australia for some strange reason. Plenty of room for some velcro rollers.

The hood itself is made of a very soft plastic material so time will tell how it holds up. Dryer has good temp and air speed.

Das Gert lsst sich ganz leicht umhngen und hat richtig viel Power und Hitze. Von Stufe 2 bin ich aber auf 1 gegangen, da ich die Haare trocknen, und nicht grillen wollte. :-)) Es war kein Problem die Haube ber die groen Wickler zu bekommen.

Zuerst habe ich den “Fhn” umgehngt, dann die Haube ber das Haar, und mit dem Gummizug ans Gert befestigt. Seit 30 Minuten sitze ich schon warm von oben, am PC und freue mich das alles prima klappt. Fr mich die richtige Entscheidung.

Man knnte auch damit herum gehen, da es eine lange Leitung hat, aber warum diese Hektik, mach ich es mir lieber gemtlich, und nutze die Zeit.

Super fr die Umwelt!! Bei Nachfragen wg. Ersatzhauben bei der Firma Grundig, war die Angestellte unhflich, genervt, und sagten mir, dass sie so etwas nicht haben!!!.

I purchased this unit for my busy hair salon as the reviews seemed to be great. This item arrived defected. The holes on the unit do not match the holes on the legs which makes the screws impossible to fit- which then makes the unit super unstable and wobbly.

I spent hours trying to make the legs match the holes in the base of the unit. Even had a man assist. I Contacted customer service who in turn says the customer is responsible for the 75 dollar return label.

I could understand if I wanted to return the unit just because but for an item to come packaged defected and then wanting to charge the customer to return the item is really absurd. I will never purchase anything from this company again.

Save yourself the time and hassle.

The feature I like the most is that it has a detachable air filter which makes maintenance easier and faster. frequent cleaning will let the equipment live to its longest life which is absolutely important to make the most of it and your money paid for it.

I have had this dryer for 5 months and so far heard nothing bad from the customers except positive experiences. My clients now take home a big smile thanks to this machine. the team SalonPRO has done a fantastic job.
