20 Best Homemade Stain Remover For Carpet (2023 Updated)

This stuff is insane. It got 3 year old nail polish and discoloration from a “sensory putty incident†out of our carpet. We were thinking we would need to replace the carpet. We had had the carpet cleaned professionally multiple times and they did nothing compared to what 2 applications of Folex did.

I’ve also used it on upholstery. I don’t understand why more people don’t know about this product, but it is a staple in my house. There is no odor, and I didn’t wear gloves while coming into contact with it, and my sensitive skin was unaffected by it.

If you have a carpet stain you haven’t been able to get out, it is worth it to try this stuff.

I actually just purchased this from Amazon for the first time about 2-3 weeks ago. Ive used many different carpet sprays to try to get small spots out of our carpet. Mainly coffee stains or juice stains from our 3 year old.

Nothing would pull them up. I would scrub them and it would look like the stain was coming out. and as soon as it was dried, the stain would be right there as usual. This Folex was a complete shock! I had heard it was great but didn’t believe it because of my previous disappointment in other products.

Folex lifted all out coffee stains, even larger ones, several juice/popsicle stains! Ive even used it on clothing where my 3 year old got hot pink ink pen on my nude sweatpants I had just gotten the day before! It came right out! Ty FOLEX!.

I was recommended to buy Casifor nail trimmer by a fellow dog owner. It is very quiet and does not disturb my greyhound, whose claws really need to be trimmed often but are very hard! It will take lots of work to shorten them but the Casifor will be better than any other method I’ve tried.

This product works miracles! Just spray and your carpet stains will literally disappear before your eyes. Usually no scrubbing is needed but if you’d like the cap doubles as a handy scrubber. I’ve used this on older stains and it works very well.

Pet accidents, dirty shoe prints, coffee, soda. it works on them all. It’s a foam not a liquid so no saturation of your underlying carpet pad happens. There is no strong chemical smell. It works very well on car detailing and stubborn stains.

I wanted to say ‘Thank you’ to the company for an amazing product. I had purchased a can of the carpet stain and spot remover a while back. I did not really need it until this weekend. We just moved into a new home with new carpeting.

There was a mishap with a printer of ours, and it ended up spilling quite a lot of black cartridge ink all over the floor. We thought the carpeting was ruined. I wish that I had taken a ‘before’ photo.

It was awful. I remembered the can of cleaner, read the directions and did exactly as instructed. I blotted as much as possible, and then sprayed/blotted. It was absolutely amazing! As the name states, it ‘lifted’ the ink out of the carpeting.

I could actually see it pulling the ink up to the surface so that I could blot it up. After a few minutes, there is not one spot of ink to be seen. Never have I been so happy with a product. Thank you Lifter-1 so very much for saving my new carpeting.

I tried everything to clean the black filtration stain the forms along the edge of carpets from having a gas hit air furnace, including hiring Stanley Steemer. Nothing worked & the pros had no solution to this stain.

So knowing the filtration stain was sooty, oil-based, I tried Lifter-1. It worked beautifully !!! As I blotted according to directions with white Bounty Paper Towels I could actually see the black soot transferring from the carpet to the paper towels.

I must say, I was extremely impressed & very happy to say goodbye to the black filtration stains!!! I’m ordering several cans of Lifter-1 to have on hand to keep these unsightly stains in check !!!.

Too bad the previous reviewer did not mention the product. It is fabulous!! I am on my 12th bottle. My sick elderly cat was defecating all over the house on berber carpeting. I covered the mess with toilet tissue to get rid of the smell until it dried and could be picked up in one piece.

The stain that remained was liberally sprayed with this product. Sometimes I would have to spray a second time, but it removed everything. My other cat sometimes eats too fast and throws up. I did the same with it, covered it with a paper towel to absorb the liquid, and vacuumed it when it was dry.

This only took one spray and the carpet looked new! I, too, received a half-full bottle that had leaked in my first order, but now Chewy has cryovaced each bottle to prevent any leaking.

I have been using Dawn liquid on hairballs from my two wonderful cats around here, but never could remove all residue. I have been dreading pulling out carpet shampoo machine. But I noticed this Oxy Clean for pet stains.

I used timer on stove, set it for 20 minutes, because these are old stains. I got out the soft cloths for removal. Timer went off in 20 minutes. Went back in room and I had my doubts because no foam seen except one.

I wore kitchen gloves for cleaning to protect my hands. Well got down on knees with soft cloths. I wiped residue off with ease. One was stubborn. Had to work at removal. I even had to repeat the spray process on it.

I even blotted areas to remove excess moisture. But my goodness! It looked great. I went back two days later to give it time to really dry, and vacuumed it. Ladies and Gentlemen! Beautiful! Beautiful! I can shampoo another day! Yippee! No stain can be seen anywhere I cleaned with Oxy Clean carpet and rug cleaner for pet stains.

Best just under $5 I have ever spent. I noticed there is still quit a lot still in bottle. But I plan to purchase another one next time I am in my Neighborhood Walmart for the future. This is liquid gold to me.

I am so happy with the result of Oxi-Clean Stain remover. I was replacing a printer and when I took the old printer off the shelf it dripped black ink in several spots on my carpet. I immediately used Oxi-Clean stain remover on the spots and let it go to work.

The ink did spread out a little as I wet it but it looks like the stain has come out after a few treatments. I wish I would have taken before and after pictures to show how awesome this product is. I have used it on other stains before such as coffee and it has never let me down.

I am so glad I had it on hand to work its magic on the ink.

I purchased this product on a whim while at Auto Zone. I have two young kids and a light colored interior in my car and boy oh boy was my car looking like a mess. I have tried other foaming carpet/upholstery cleaners and none have done even half the job this product has.

My kids have split numerous red Gatorade’s on the floor in the back seat which wouldn’t come out before. With a little Blue Magic, a scrub brush, and a lot of back arm, I got not only the red stain out of the carpet, but ALL of the stains out of the carpet as well as the seats, including TWO melted crayons on the drivers seat that I had tried many times to remove.

This stuff is great! Have used it for years. When removing spots from carpets, directions say to spray the spot, and then get a towel or something and dab it dry. So i spray a couple of spots, then go get a cloth to dab it with and often, when i return I can’t fine the spots i’m supposed to dab!!.

I love this stuff! It works great on hard to remove Carpet stains, even blood. I even use it on my class A RV to remove water stains and smudges on the frantic ceiling. Its the best product Ive used.

Any OxiClean product I’ve tried, I’ve loved. And this is no exception. 3 weeks ago my toddler spilt orange koolaid on her bedroom carpet. I tried everything to get it out. Even scrubbing on my hands and knees.

I just couldn’t get all the orange out. I gave up and it sat for weeks. My mom gave me this to try. Even though it’s labeled for pet stain and odor. Absolutely amazing. Within seconds of spraying the stain, you could physically see the orange being pulled out of the carpet! I’m going to have to invest in a stock of this stuff.

So I did a test. I bought this because I am a loyal Oxiclean customer, and I bought another “brand” that had amazing reviews. I have a 3 year old boy who is EXTREMELY messy, and I finally got tired of seeing his kitchen chair looking so awful.

These stains have been there for months, so I sprayed one half with Oxiclean and the other half with “brand” and let it sit for 15 minutes. Then I took a clean washcloth and scrubbed. I was amazed at how well they both did! His chair looks amazing! After they dried, I decided to sniff them (based on reviews of “brand”), and the Oxiclean side smelled clean, whereas the “brand” side smelled so bad I immediately broke out the febreeze.

I definitely recommend Oxiclean since it not only performed flawlessy, but it actually makes fabrics smell clean and fresh.

I was looking for a good spot cleaner and had a lot of concerns as I have ever only Found one that works and I no longer know someone who sells for that company (an MLM but so good!). I hopped on to Amazon, hoping beyond hope that they would have it listed.

Of course they didn’t, but the search pulled up other pre-spot treatments. Since I have never had any success with other pre-spot treatments I was greatly worried about trying one and having it permanently set the stain (common theme with stain removers).

I had this beautiful dress and shirt that I wanted So badly to save. I scoured the reviews for hours reading the good, bad and ugly about each spot remover. The kept popping up, but me being me, kept dismissing it because it was a foam instead of a liquid which I knew was the far superior remover (how I knew that I couldn’t say).

Finally, I pulled up the reviews on the foaming spot remover and was surprised to read all the positive results others had experienced from the product. Yes, other products had positive reviews as well, but not as specific as the Oxi Clean Max Force Foaming remover did.

I was sold when I read how the Oxi Clean Max Force removed stubborn deodorant stains, for one reviewer, because that was exactly one of the stains I was so desperate to remove. That sold me and as soon as this stain remover arrived I had to try it out.

With crossed fingers I saturated the stains on my clothes and let them sit overnight, hoping that would help break up the stain (if anything it wouldn’t hurt to let the stain remover sit overnight). Now when I say saturate it means nothing like when your Spraying a liquid or using a gel.

Three pumps of foam was enough to really soak the spot and allow me to rub the area together. With such a little amount used on each spot, I was thinking if this works it’s going to save me a lot Of money because I with other removers, I would have to use a lot More product to get the slide needed to rub the fabric together and feel Like there was enough product to really break down the stain.

The next day I washed all the items that had been foamed (there were more than just the two that I was really concerned about. I must be a hot mess!). I didn’t put the items in the dryer just in case the first go had failed and I’d need to try again.

But WOW! It hadn’t! I didn’t have to wash any of the items a second time, which I truly was expecting to have to do with at least a couple pieces of clothing. It worked that good! I was surprised to see that every stain, from grease to sweat, deodorant stains that I have never successfully removed to just every day grime and dirt stains, had come out the various fabrics.

I have since used it multiple times and I am in love. Just a little bit of foam gives you enough product to be able to feel like it is saturated enough to help break up whatever has landed there. I do use more on denim, but that’s a choice.

I’m really don’t know if less product would work as well. And I do have each piece process overnight. Again, that’s a preference not a necessity. But no matter how you choose to treat your stains, the Oxi Max Force Foaming stain remover is the bomb! Even though the cost for this product was lower than any other remover I’ve tried before, I, personally, was surprised how small a bottle you get.

But let me tell you, it might be small compared to the liquid spray bottles, but this foaming remover will last quite a long time. So thank you to everyone who took the time to express their experience with this product, good or bad.

I went to the store to buy a stain remover and decided to look at other ones because the one I had just wasn’t really doing it’s job. I wear White V Neck T-shirts and half the time I usually end up throwing them away and buying new ones because the stains just don’t come out completely.

I wish I would have taken a picture or video before I washed them. My shirts had chocolate stains, sauce stains, grease stains. I said “Let’s see if this remover really works”. I was completely amazed! When I pulled my shirts out I was flabbergasted.

I have never seen a stain remover this powerful. Not only were the stains gone but my shirts are completely white without bleach. I would love to buy a big bottle but unsure if you make bigger bottles.

I bought one of these for stains on several shirts. It worked great! I then ordered 2 more. On a patterned white towel my mom had was really dirty. Looked terrible. I brought it home and sprayed it, getting every spot.

It came out looking like new. I have not had a spot on any of the items that are dirty, or have stains on them. I have used it on shirts, knit shirts, blouses, and even on a very heavy sweater. The end of the sleeves were dirty.

We have cats. lots of cats!! I clean our carpets and furniture on a pretty regular basis and I promise I have used virtually every carpet shampoo brand on the shelf, and I have made my own using recipes found on various websites.

I admit that I was put off by the cheap price and the ugly bottle – how could it possibly be any good? Then I read their website. Walmart has THE BEST PRICE anywhere for this produce – so I bought two gallons and just today I put it to use.

I am ASTOUNDED at how much better my carpets look – it actually removed OLD stains that have been on my carpet for at least 2 years – those older brown -yellow pee stains that will not go away (old cat with failing kidneys) and some new stains from vomit and such (trying not to make anyone ill here!).

You get the point – I did not presoak anything – I just added a cup to my cleaner at each fill-up and filled it with hot water and began cleaning. It had a very faint scent – not unpleasant and did not linger long.

My carpet looks great and my house actually smells fresh and clean. I was /am very impressed. I wish I had known about this stuff years ago – the money and grief I could have saved myself. I was impressed to discover that the same folks who make Rustoleum paints make this stuff – their paints are good too.

Its a wonderful product. I’ve used the all purpose b4 after a friend suggested, to clean plastic soot that floated on top of everything during a candle and holder malfunction. Nothing wud get it off t walls, appliances, blinds, it was horrible.

Everything covered in it. So I got the Krud Kutter. Instantly w/o rubbing, the soot came off. That was a very long day, but doable. I love their products. The carpet cleaner from them was simply a no brainer, pleasant lite smell, fades so ur not choking on fumes, cleans carpets nice.

Always test a corner of ur rug that’s inconspicuous, to test for color fastness! Just a good policy. This product arrived very quickly, well packed. Thx u Zoro. :-).

I got this because I used the original all purpose cleaner from this same brand to cut through grime in this old house I am cleaning. This cleaner has a light scent which is and isn’t the best thing about it.

I used this for the carpet of a car my mom bought me from a man advertising it as in “excellent” condition. The car is intact but the carpet was almost black brown from some spilled disgusting mocha coffee scent.

It smelled like spoiled milk on hot day I had to get it out so I used this. I put alot per gallon of water in my spot cleaner and the 1st pass it pulled up nothing but syrupy sticky liquid! EW. I used the whole gallon and 8tries but it is a matter of sucking up whole spilled drinks out of the carpet.

I would suggest spraying with the original krud kutter and letting it soak overnight then carpet clean for spots. I think it is better than some generic carpet cleaners but if it doesn’t get the stain out, i want a scent to cover the smell!.

Literally the BEST carpet spot remover I have EVER used. I can’t even describe how incredible this stuff works, I first tried it 3 years ago and have refused to use anything else since. I have a German Shepherd – but love white carpets… – and this stuff lets me have both!! Doesn’t matter what the stain is – yes, even red wine – it completely gets rid of it.

Absolute favorite cleaner to get stains out of carpet!! I’ve recommended this to all of my friends and now they always have a few bottles in their houses just in case! My daughter is in college and she used it at her own apartment and her friends’ when they spilled stuff.

It was packaged with a heavier item and a comb, and no padding. So the heavier item just obliterated this thing in transit and leak Oxi Clean juice all over the other two packages. The other item I ordered came in its own packaged all alone.

Whoever packaged this was not using their noggin.

We researched spot cleaners before settling on Bissell. We then looked for local suppliers to decide on Harvey Norman. Upon unboxing the unit was easy to assemble and the use of a pre-stainer enabled us to clean badly soiled armchair arms and seat.

It took a few applications to clean and dry, but the armchair came back almost to new.

I was able to get red dirt stains out of my couch cushions using the Bissell Spot clean Pro. I forgot to spray this on one of the cushions first and it didn’t get nearly as clean. I went back with this spray and redid that cushion and it came clean.

I would say this is a must for settled in stains before shampooing.

We bought this hoping to help make the couch smell bette. We use it before we spray on the odor and stain remover for the pet stain portable eraser. It works well, but as most dog owners know, it’ll just get messy again.

Our friends come over and have made messes on the couch, and this has worked well for those times as well.

So, it’s been months since dropping black liquid eyeliner on my cream carpets, and I pretty much accepted that it would just be this ugly stain forever in the carpet. When I say ugly, I mean UGLY! whatever is in this thing, worked! It worked on a huge, dark several months old stain! I still can’t believe it. I need more of this stuff, but I only see it online for almost $30! That’s outside of my budget, but hopefully I’ll get lucky and find it as a discount store again!.

After Linens and Things went out of business, I couldn’t find it locally in any store. They probably charge big bucks for even just a little shelf space, but Gonzo should be available in more locations.

Was easy to locate online, however. I find it good for cleaning grime from certain items, especially sensitive plastic with colored lettering that cant be subject to strong cleaners that usually smear such.

If there is a smell, I cant detect it. Just compare to Goof Off to see(smell) the difference. A little bottle goes a long way in my case, since I’m usually cleaning with Q-tips, cotton balls, or bits of paper towels.

Great price, really effective shampoo in cleaning stains, which left the carpet looking very clean and feeling soft. The fragrance is also very pleasant. Having used other manufacturers products – this is on,e of the best I have used.

Very good carpet shampoo, gets right into the carpet, picks up all the dirt and grime. Don’t even need to wash your carpet twice as it is a great clean first time, BRILLIANT.

I’ve bought and used this product several times now. Most recently I used it to clean the headline in my car. Thanks to my wonderful kids who I love dearly, there was all kinds of splatters and how about that one time my husband exploded a can of coke that sprayed everywhere.
