20 Best Front Load Washing Machine Cleaner (2023 Updated)

I’ve been having a problem with stinky laundry. Smells fine when I take it out but a week later it starts to stink. I tried all the online suggestions, vinegar, bleach etc. no luck. I didn’t know products like this existed.

Fortunately, when I found out about it, I also read the comments of a repair person mentioning that it is not the product itself that foams, it is the buildup in the machine that is foaming and that too much foam can cause a problem.

So, to be cautious I used just a 1/2 packet the 1st and 2nd times I used it, and it foamed up to the top of the machine. So, if you have never cleaned your washer, like me, I would recommend a 1/2 packet the first 2 times.

I have used it 4 times now and it is still foaming like crazy, but it has dealt with the problem I was having, 2 weeks and the clothes still smell nice. I will definitely be using this in the future.

As for the strong scent people mentioned in some reviews: yes, the powder has a very strong smell, so if you open the machine during the cycle there is a strong scent. I personally did not find it overpowering and it did not fill the house with the scent.

But that is most likely due to differences in the make/model of machine as well as venting in the house. The first load I did after cleaning did have the smell of the cleaner, but I didn’t mind considering what it has been smelling like.

However, if you are sensitive to scented things, this may be too much for you.

I bought this Tide Washing Machine Cleaner a week ago after a lot of thought. I’ve used Tide Washing detergent for year so trusted it would work. My washer is a little older, & it is a front load. I clean the washer often, and leave the door open, and a box of baking soda inside when not in use.

I still have black/light gray around the gray rubber. So, I spent $8. 00 thinking the would help. Not only didn’t it change even a little but further to the washer I wiped out a brown residue w/paper towels it still doesn’t look clean.

There was no fresh smell after the cycle but but washer had no odor to start with. Being on a septic, I am not going to waste water, and hot water on top of that. If I would have seen some results I would have tried to use the two packets left but again you are careful when you are on a septic system.

I will continue to use Tide Products but not the tub cleaner.

This was my go to washing machine cleaner. No other product on the market could do what the tide product could do. Something has changed in the formulation and I don’t know longer can count on this being a quality product.

I’ve run through three cycles using the new formulation and my washing machine still does not smell clean or fresh. Are used to open the packet and smell a strong and pleasant odor that would then be present after the washing machine was cleaned.

Now there is no odor when I open the packet and my machine still has hint of mildew smell. Soooo disappointed. I stocked up on this product with 5 boxes and now they seem like a waste. I ended up just running diluted bleach through the machine to get it back to smelling clean.

What a surprise when I opened the lid of my washing machine to find a beautifully clean and shiny drum! I have only ever used the regular supermarket brands of washing machine cleaners. They were okay but the strong chemical smell was off putting and I wasn’t happy with the result.

I thought I would try the Ecoegg washing machine tablets on the off chance they might work. Well they do work – the best washing machine cleaner I have ever used, I am totally converted and will be recommending them to family and friends.

Absolutely a five star product!.

The detox tablets work well and left my washing machine clean and fresh. I had doubted the effectiveness of the eco laundry egg and have been pleasantly surprised – excellent product. The eco dryer egg definitely leaves clothes softer.

The Detox Tablets are easy enough to use. you just throw them in your washer and use the hot cycle. In my case I used the cleaning cycle. During the cycle, there were suds so I guess it was cleaning.

My washer didn’t smell any different. I used a towel to wipe the glass door clean, so I guess it did loosen the film on the door. I can’t say for sure as I’ve never bothered to wipe it off before. I guess it gives me peace of mind that it’s cleaning internal parts and removing contaminants that I may not be seeing.

I’d love to say there was a significant difference before and after using the tablet, but frankly there wasn’t.

The Machine Cleaner does a great job making sure my machine is free from any gunk. I purchased this not because I had an issue, but for more of a preventative reason. I had one issue which was that near the top of my top-loader, justttt above the tallest water line, was this line of soap or gunk that was formed due to the soaps and dirty water; This fortunately came off incredibly easily with a paper towel slightly soaked in this machine cleaner fluid.

But to be honest, the line reappears right after I wash a load after the cleaning, so it doesn’t prevent that. I’ve see other customers write about them having a prior foul smell and hoping the cleaner would fix it; I haven’t had any issues with the smell, since I leave the top open to dry.

But the cleaner helps keep it clean and in tip top shape, at least is what they advertise. One bottle is enough for two cleans, so if you use it once a month then this 2 pack will last you 4 months. You put in 1/2 cup of cleaner fluid into your washer and the rest is mixed with the water.

You wash it on a normal cycle and tallest water level in your hottest water setting. Both front and top-loader compatible. It may seem like you put very little cleaner in, but the washer does foam quite a bit once it’s being “washed”.

Only reason for 4 starts instead of 5 is that it is a bit on the pricey side ($4. 66 per bottle [$2. 33 per clean] in this two pack), and unfortunately the Walmart price is competitive level. It’s a little disappointing to spend that much money without it seeing fix any problems, make’s me feel like it’s useless, but that’s on me since I bought it to prevent issues in the first place.

Although, I did go 5 months previously without using a product like this, and never ran into any issues. So whether or not I will continue to purchase this, or rethink my cleaning frequency, is something I will reconsider in the future.

Now this manufacturer’s other product like their Dishwasher cleaner is a MUST for me. Like I mentioned earlier, I can’t vouch for much since I use it for preventative purposes, but so far the machine has not broken down nor had any cleaning problems.

I have tried other brands of washing machine cleaner so my expectations for this one was about the same. However, after using Glisten, I noticed a difference between this brand and the other brands. The first thing I noticed was the lack of chemical smell.

Although Glisten washing machine cleaner says “Fresh Scent”, I smelled no scent. Which to me equates to clean with no harsh chemicals. The second thing I noticed after using it was how my washing machine drum was actually CLEAN looking.

With other brands, it’s more of a mental note that the drum got clean because I used some kind of cleaner. But with Glisten, I actually could see that it got clean. My only complaint and reason for deducting a star, is that I wish the bottle and/or cap could be made to measure out the 1/2 cup of product needed.

I didn’t want to use one of my cooking measuring cups so I had to eyeball it. Which means I could either use too much or too little of the product. I guess I could go to a one dollar-type store to pick up a measuring cup and keep it on or next to the bottle, but it would be nice if the product itself had it.

Received the Glisten washing machine cleaner the other day, that removes odors, build-up and limescale. I like that it is a liquid formula that leaves no residue, the fresh scent and the natural power.

I also like that one 12 oz bottle can clean up to 3 times. and cleans better than bleach for all washers. I also like that it can be used monthly and is easy to use. I like that it is powerful and is specially formulated to eliminate and prevent hard water mineral and detergent build up that causes odors, reduces machine cleaning effectiveness and damage fabrics, that it is a safer certified product that contains no bleach or chemicals to harm machine or fabrics and that it is versatile and penetrates deep to clean the entire machine and leaves no residue behind.

I used this in my top loading machine and after the wash cycle it smelled clean and fresh. Will use it every month until it is gone and then will buy some more. I have recommended it to friends and family, especially to my daughter-in-law who has a front loading machine because she said hers smells.

I ordered this product on Amazon as it was the most affordable option compared to the Affresh brand and other options. It also had pretty good reviews as well. Upon receiving it, I learned from reading the directions that I needed to use one packet per week for a month.

which is what the box I ordered supplied me with. 4 total packs. So I did as the directions stated, adding one packet of the oxi clean powder directly into the washer tub. I turned my washer dial to the option to clean the washer.

Once the cycle completed, which was about the same amount of time as it took to wash a regular load of laundry give or take, I opened the washer immediately to check out the results. I was very very pleased with the initial results as my washer was certainly in need of a good cleaning.

My washer tub was definitely shining and appeared brand new! The only one complaint I did have was that where my fabric softner goes in the machine, at the top part of the agitator, was quite yucky with built up softner from past loads that was all gooky n icky.

The water with the oxi clean cleaner clearly does not reach that far up thus it was not cleaned. But I still gave this product a 5 star review since it still worked incredibly well. I was able to easily lift out the reservoir for the fabric sofner and easily clean it with dish soap and warm water.

so it wasnt that big of a deal anyhow. I will note that upon using this product once a week for 4 weeks for heavily soiled washing machines, you can purchase the 4 pack box n then only use a packet per month thereafter.

which makes this product an even more incredible deal. Oh and judging by the reviews on Amazon, many of them claimed that the scent of this powder was way too strong and was rough on the nose. i personally did not agree with this as I noticed a fairly strong cleaner like fragrance, but did not find it to be anymore harsh than your average cleaning product.

I’m a new mom of a very stinky family of boys. I would wash their clothes and they would still have a smell of their stink AFTER! My husband works in a factory so about half way through the day after his clothes heat up, his sweat smell comes back.

I found oxyclean powder crystals and poof!!! No more boy smell and my husband now gets compliments on his laundry smell. He was actually in a meeting and someone said “it smells really good in here. someone leaned over and said “oh it’s YOU”.

That compliment speaks for itself. I bought a case of 5 after that!!.

I was using a liquid clorox washing machine cleaner for years, that actually did the job perfectly. I can’t seem to find that anymore, so I tried this oxy clean one. I used it with the sanitize cycle, but I don’t feel like it worked anywhere near as well as my old cleaner.

the smell this one left was not great, either. it just smelled like gross cleaning products. I actually ran the sanitize cycle again, with just bleach, after using this oxy clean, and the results were better.

I wouldn’t buy this again.

I was a bit cynical at first with these EcoEggs and Fabric Conditioner but not anymore. the only thing the eggs don’t get clean is my other halfs work clothes but he is a mechanic so I do wash them in normal washing liquid to break the oil up and the fabric condition doesn’t last me as long as it says it will but the smell is lovely and the clothes are soft.

My towels feel softer without any fabric conditioner and the dryer balls work a treat. I have recommended ecoegg to a few people now and will be continuing to use them. Great product, saves money, better for the environment and made in Britain !!.

This stuff does what it claims to do. My old smelly washing machine wouldn’t lose the stink no matter what I threw at it. After some treatments of this stuff the stink is gone and hasn’t come back. I even sprayed some down the garbage disposal out of curiosity to see if it would work, and it even cleared up that mild stink better than the other products I’ve bought to do so.

I’ve gone through an entire bottle and I ordered two more to replace it. I did notice, as other reviews mention, that the spray nozzle it comes with breaks easily. Mine did too. That’s the only reason it lost a star.

But I just slapped a sprayer from a different bottle of cleaning product I used up. It seems to be a standard size and the new sprayer fit and works fine. I don’t think that’s a reason to hate this product.

TL;DR – listen to the reviews. The cleaner works, the scent is great. The spray bottle’s nozzle sucks and it WILL break on you. Buy/have on hand a glass replacement bottle or reuse a plastic empty spray bottle if you decide to buy.

I bought this at the same time that I bought the Pure Sense stainless steel cleaner spray. I like the scent, think it’s helped prevent odors in my machine/keep clothes fresh, and prolong the need to actually clean the machine.

It’s easy to use and even my sister, who is terrible at remembering to use the daily shower cleaner, will spray the machine after using. For the price & the generous size of the bottle, it does a good job.

BUT. Just like with the stainless steel spray, the nozzle broke & I’ll need to buy a glass replacement bottle or wait until one of my other bottles is empty to keep using the spray. Which is SO annoying because I want to use the cleaner now! (For comparison, my stainless steel spray nozzle broke on the first use, while this washing machine cleaner nozzle lasted about 2 weeks before it broke.

) I love Grove & have been a loyal VIP member for 3 years. But somebody on staff, PLEASE tell Pure Sense to get with the program!!.

This product works exactly as it says. I haven’t had to deal with that moldy front loader smell and I use this spray every ten washers or so. I’ve even opened and sprayed it into the filter area on front bottom of machine.

Now for the hate part. I cannot stand the smell. It makes me want to vomit and I have to run a rinse and spin cycle twice to ensure it doesn’t end up on my clothing and making me smell like it. Also, halfway through the bottle the spray trigger got stuck and just left me with a floppy trigger that if I squeezed very hard dripped out a drop of cleaner.

I banged it around in frustration and it popped out and was fine. Two weeks later. same thing but couldn’t solve the issue. I took the foam sprayer off of my Grove Carpet and Upholstery cleaner that had just ran out fortunately and I’ve been using that and I think the foam squirt bottle sprays the laundry cleaner much more efficiently and I don’t need to use as much to cover as much area and it ends up sticking to the surfaces more than just dripping down the sides.

They should just toss out the old sprayers and replace with the foaming one. I’m lucky I had it on hand cause if I had t I would’ve ended up tossing out the whole thing and wasting my money of my.

Now that we’ve tried this Glisten Washer Magic Cleaner & Deodorizer, we are big fans! The stink coming from our new high efficiency top load washing machine was driving us crazy. We had hoped that if we bought a top loading washer instead of a front load that we wouldn’t encounter that problem.

Boy, were we wrong. Every time you walked past the laundry room to get to the back door you could smell it and it really stunk up the area. We ran it through the 2 1/2 hour cleaning cycle on it and it would disappear for a week or so and then the stink was back.

We got this and added it to the cleaning cycle and now it’s been more than 3 weeks and it still doesn’t stink. That is amazing and wonderful and we are totally happy campers now that we don’t have to smell that stink coming in the back door every time.

I don’t know how long it’s going to last before we have to do it again but it’s already a win-win in my book.

I got Glisten Washer Magic Cleaner and deodorizer about three weeks ago. I have been looking for something to get the bad smells out of my washer. I finally found what I needed. The Glisten Cleaner dose the job.

The first time I used it the foul smell was gone. The inside of the washer is shinning and glistening again. Two weeks later the smell is still gone. It is safe to use no bleach or harsh chemicals. It is so easy to use.

You just put the cleaner on a cloth. Wipe down all hard surfaces and around the door. You won’t believe all the dirt that comes off on the cloth when your finished. It sure didn’t look that dirty. Then you add about a 1/2 cup to your washer and run a full wash cycle with hot water.

Your job is done when the washer stops. It is fresh smelling and clean inside. I love this product. I’m going to tell everyone I know about the Glisten washer Magic. You have got to try this product! You will be happy you did!.

Hard to find on shelves. Works great. Delivery was not delivered in time frame quoted. FedEx sure took a long time. Left Pennsylvania on Oct 13, arrived in Ohio on Oct 15, arrived in Michigan on Oct 18th, and finally delivered on Oct 19th (6 days).

529 miles, and 8 hour trip. I guess this is normal in this environment.

I would and HAVE recommended this product to friends and family!! Before using this product, my front load washing machine and clothes had a very strong mildew odor – even after leaving the door ajar after use to allow it to dry.

I happen to find this product while shopping and decided that I had nothing to lose but around $9. 00 if it did not work. LOVE the product!! My clothes and machine no longer have the mildew smell. I just spray the inside door and inside the actual machine after my last load of laundry and leave the door open.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT!!.

Stop posting this item. It’s not the one you’re shipping. I order this 3 times and received the wrong item. Please, please put the correct picture on line. This one is deceiving. I would recommend the original one only.

I’m extremely OCD and like EVERYTHING clean. I clean my washing machine, dishwasher and dish disposal. I think cleaning your washing machine is essential to both maintaining its performance and making sure your laundry is always truly getting clean and sanitary.

I think this is especially important in households that do heavy loads of laundry or a lot of soiled laundry. Afresh is the brand recommended by Whirlpool, Maytag and Amana. It’s designed to remove odor- causing residues and grime that daily loads leave behind.

It couldn’t be easier to use either. Just put a tablet in and run a EMPTY load on hot water. I do an extra rinse for good measure. I feel so much better knowing that my laundry is TRULY clean and I think it helps my expensive washing machine perform better and maybe it will last longer? I use one tablet once a month.

I was given a sample tablet through another sample program and I was pleasantly surprised. I have a very old washing machine in the house I rent and it has many years worth of hard water stains in it.

I tried it out tonight and it removed small spots of the hard water stains (which I wasn’t expecting it to) and my washer actually looks really clean. I did one round of washing with an empty washer and the tablet and then 2 rounds of straight water after to make sure it it was rinsed thoroughly like the package said.

No residue was left behind at all! The only thing that would make this product superior is if it cleaned all the hard water stains instead of just small random patches but that’s not a big deal. Will definitely be buying!.

I truly never realized just how dirty my washing machine was until I used the Affresh Washing Machine Cleaner Tablets. My washer is fairly old, and aside from having to wipe out the inside very sporadically, I have never really thought to actually clean my washer.

AAAAAAAMAZINGGGGG! My dishwasher is, or WAS, disgusting! Our water is awful and after years of use and only mediocre success with cleaning, all that build-up and grime has met its match! The directions indicated that bad build-up may require two packets to clean and then only one each month for maintenance.

I had previously used a Magic Eraser on the door and sides, but after hours of scrubbing, my body had had enough. Eventually, I finally used Lemi Shine. Y’all, I need sunglasses on when I open my dishwasher.

I’m embarrassed to post the “before” pics. but for reference, they’re needed. We have a new dishwasher, but have been hesitant to install for fear it’ll look like the current one. However, with Lemi Shine, I doubt it’ll ever look as bad as the current one.

Check out the utensil basket!! I never thought I’d see every crevice of it this clean. Ever. I’m going to run another cycle to get the remaining crud, but I’m happy with the results thus far. Buy👏this👏product👏.

That gross, white buildup in your dishwasher & spotty dishes…. that’s due to hard water. In Vegas we have the worst hard water and not much cuts through it let alone cleans it. My apartment dishwasher was awful – while the i side was “clean,” the not visible components & drains, water openings, etc.

, clearly weren’t as my dishes had debris on them after a wash. Having used the LemiShine booster religiously, I bought the DISHWASHER CLEANER (NOT the dishwasher detergent people are leaving reviews for) and it helped a lot.

I ended up running a FINISH through it (needing something a bit more powerful) and my dirty dishwasher was clean. Recommend this for monthly cleaning but if you’ve never cleaned the dishwasher before maybe try something a lot stronger first OR use 2-3 packs as noted in the directions.

(I tried Borax initially and that just made the dishwasher much worse. ).

We bought a home and the dishwasher had left a layer of gritty crust on anything glass, such that it grossed us out to eat on them. We tried everything – cleaned the filter, extra rinsing, etc. Nothing worked.

As a last resort I bought LemiShine at the local grocery store. Folks, I am not kidding. This stuff is magic. The crust is gone, our dishes are silky smooth, shiny, and clear. Even the heater coil, which apparently was the culprit, (it was crusted over and white with deposits, eeew!) is now back to the color it’s meant to be, and the dishwasher doesn’t smell bad while it’s running.

I hadn’t even realized it WAS smelling bad until it stopped! A forever user, right here.

I bought a used washing machine and wanted to clean before using. I couldn’t fi d the previous product I used (a loose powder) and afresh is recommended for whirlpool (literally my machine’s self clean setting says “clean washer with afresh”.

) I followed the instructions absolutely. The clean cycle takes much longer than washing clothes and used all our hot water (that has nothing to do with the tablet just explains there was ample time and water) it finally finishes and I open the machine to see.

The tablet has not dissolved. The edges were eaten away slightly but it was mostly whole. Maybe if I crushed it first I would get better results but following the directions did not work.

Do you leave the lid open? Use vinegar? Wipe with a rag? How do you clean your washing machine? I can tell you what I’ll be doing now!!! I received a sample of Affresh, and it did a great job of cleaning! Smell gone, bin clean and laundry looking and smelling way better.

I was a little sceptical that a tablet could clean my washing machine but it did an awesome job! Easy to use and there was a nice scent to it that made me feel like my washing machine got a decent clean.

When the cycle was done I inspected the inside and found that it did a really good job. Even the rubber seal looked clean. I did do a wipe of it to dry it up but it was quite clean. Maybe not as clean as getting in there with your hands but a good job for in between big cleans.

I would definitely recommend and buy again.

I really like how easy these are to use! I regularly clean my washing machine, but I have a two dogs and my boyfriend works in landscaping so sometimes the washer can get dog hair and grass clippings left behind that start to smell, it’s so simple to throw one of these tabs in, put it on the affresh cleaning cycle and let it run and clean itself!.

It is affordable for all thus is value for money. Use of it prolongs the life of washing machine. I bought my washing machine in 1989 still going strong like new few wear & tear repair works like new love & care regular cleaning.

When I change I will send to museum or Zannushi.

Really good. After using the cleaner the drum looked brand new which is good cos my washing machine is around 7 years old. Only wish it could be put through the soap dispenser drawer.

When peeling the back away from the liner, the pad came away with it and trying to handle a double sided sticky pad is not easy. I fixed them eventually, but because of the pad I could not get the rest of the liner to sit without creases.

TranslateShow in original languageAb 40 Grad bereits anzuwenden. Entfernt somit schnell mal unangenehme Gerüche aus der Maschine. Hat hervorragend funktioniert. Meine Waschmaschine ist erst 2 Jahre alt, dennoch fing die Wäsche an, nach dem Waschen nicht gut zu riechen.

Dies ist wahrscheinlich dadurch begründet, dass man die Maschine mit niedrigen Temperaturen mehr laufen lässt. Dieses Produkt ist dafür super geeignet.
