20 Best Eye Lubricant For Dry Eyes (2023 Updated)

I only bought this ridiculous product, because my doctor instructed me to use the drops prior to an eye surgery. Just about everything about Oasis is a bad deal. First of all, they are clearly overpriced.

30 little vials for almost $30. You would think that one would be enough to last one day. NOPE! Inside each tiny container, there are only a few drops. When you twist off the top, some of the product oozes out due to the internal pressure.

Then when you put the cap back on, more will squeeze out if you don’t do it right. Why can’t they just package there artificial tears like every other normal company. I can buy Clear Eyes from Walmart for about 2 dollars and the product is 100 times better.

My recommendation: DO NOT BUY THIS CRAP!!.

I like them. They are glycerin unlike most other dry eye drops. If you need to use a fresh one for 3 times a day applications, it gets expensive. I’ll finish this box and try to find something more affordable.

Of course if I had no choice and this is the only one which helped me, I’d bear the cost.

I recently got Lasik eye surgery. It was the best investment I ever decided. I paid $3900 for both eyes. I was doing research and most places coat $3000 per eye. What a deal. I went to Lasik IQ and did all my consultation in Westminster CA.

The surgery was done at the Lasik IQ in Inland Empire CA. Having 20/20 vision is the best and these tear plus are awesome when my eyes are feeling a bit dry. They said it’ll take a couple months for my eyes to get back to normal.

My eyes have always been dry, and got much worse after cataract surgery. This is the only kind of eye drop that works for me. I don’t know why. I’ve tried so many other kinds, hoping to find something even better, but they all made my eyes feel worse, not better.

Even the Refresh Tears single use ones without preservatives don’t feel as good to me as these Tears. The only other drop that works good enough is Oasis single use but they cost more and I go through them too fast, and they aren’t any better than these.

These Tears don’t work miracles, they wear off and have to be repeated, especially if I’m using the computer a lot. But they give me some relief without making my eyes feel even scratchier moments later.

Do not use Refresh tears/ lubricant drops if you plan to use daily or more! Please be careful. After 1. 5 Wks of using every 8-10 hrs, my eyelids and the surrounding area was RAW, red, painful and peeling.

The same thing happened to my mom, and my Ophthalmologist told me this can happen somewhat commonly with continuous use in a relatively short period of time. If you suffer from Dry Eye Syndrome, or if your eyes just get occasionally dry/watery/tired, I recommend BauschLomb SootheXP drops.

They do not have those awful side effects and you’ll save money, plus they work better! That’s my 2 cents lol.

Great product for Meibomium Gland Disfunction (Disfunction of the OIL producing glands in the eyelids). That said, if you H A V E MGD (Excess Tear Production is one indication = your body’s way of trying to compensate!!) get yourself to an ophthalmologist that has LipiFlow treatment equipment (I have NO relationship with that company!!) or your eye surfaces will scar up so badly as to make you functionally BLIND!!! ANY and ALL eyedrops are just a stop-gap measure; temporary treatment, albeit soothing for the time being.

They work pretty good. I need to use them when I’ve forgotten to take my fish oil which is my cure all for my MGD. There one big problem though. each little vessel has enough liquid in it for several uses but you’re “not supposed to” use more than once.

That’s like throwing away several dollars. They could put more vessels with less liquid in each and give us more uses per box. I don’t discard after 1 use, I keep them and use them despite the directions.

The packaging is completely ridiculous.

I have tried them all! But Bion Tears is the only one that works for me and gives me relief. It’s the very best product for dry eyes. (I also use prescription Restasis Morning and Night, but Bion Tears keeps me going all day long.

After being introduced to this product about 15 years ago after my lasik surgery, I found it to be the best of any other I’ve ever tried. I’ve tried many, too, since it has become more difficult to find anywhere locally.

Over and over again I go back. I like the unit dose, too – no preservatives.

For anyone with severe dry eyes, this product is for you. I have been dealing with severe dry eyes for several years and my optometrist wanted me to go on some expensive prescription drops as the over-the-counter drops we had been trying did not work very well.

I found a reference to these Bion Tears online which showed that they were for “severe” dry eyes. I decided to order me some and they worked wonderfully the first time I tried them. I was ecstatic.

I was resistant to like these drops for severe dry eyes after using a different product that I thought worked well but the formula in oasis years are so much better. I have found these to be excellent, last longer and the best product that has managed to provide comfort and quality of life back living with dry eyes.

Most drops when applied burn and force your eyes to make tears. Somehow, there is no burn with these and yet they still work? Part of it is that these aren’t designed to burn your eyes and force tears.

Rather, they are designed to mimic tears and moisturize. This means everyday when you’re adding drops you’re not tearing your natural eye lubricants apart but instead helping build them up. This makes it so your eyes are not contingent on getting drops constantly to maintain forced moisture.

I apply them once in the morning every other day and that is all it takes now. Honestly, if you get a high quality omega 3 fish oil supplement and take one pill and a day in coordination with these every day or two, you too could finally get rid of the red eye curse.

I was having issues with my vision over a three month time frame and my eyes were consistently red. My eye doctor diagnosed me with dry eyes, and after doing some research, I thought I would give these a try since I am sensitive to preservatives.

These eye drops have been amazing! I’ve been using them for a few weeks and can already tell the difference! The only thing that I dislike about them is the amount of waste, as there is enough solution in each individual tube for 3-6 doses.

I wish Theratears could find a way to formulate their large/multi-use bottle to be preservative free like some other companies have done. They say the large bottle is “preservative free once it is on your eye” because the eye breaks down their specific preservative, which is not the same as these which are actually preservative-free.

That same preservative in the multi-use bottle is banned in Europe because it can cause infertility. So in the meantime I will gladly use this preservative-free version as it has been amazing.

thera tears help for my eye. for my dry eyes allergies. it help for that. but not for long terms. Only i used for my allergies. the other names brand eye drops give me floaters and oypia. other name brand eyes drops take out my natural tears.

These drops have been my go-to for years now. They’re effective and don’t seem to make eye dryness worse, which other brands have done. When it comes to the different options that Systane sells, I’m not sure if this product is actually any better or worse than the ones that are labeled “COMPLETE” because the ingredients seem similar, but more importantly, I don’t notice a difference in function between the two types.

I prefer the small dropper bottle to the individually packed ampules as well because those usually have product that gets wasted. Overall, these are great and last awhile, and I’ll continue to buy and recommend this brand.

I sleep with my eyes partly open. I awaken with eyse so dry I keep them closed till I can blindly find the drops on my bedside table and apply. Sometimes my eyes won’t open even when I try, NOT COOL! I now have a tear in my cornea that gives me a blurry spot in my vision.

It’s a run of the mill drop and there is no blur, even when you first apply. My eyes are not caked shut in the morning as other products did. There is no burn and I have to say the greasy product which is merely mineral oil and petroleum gel mixed did irritate my eyes for most of the next day, it just hung around like a summer cold! I believe I already see a diminishing blurry spot which means the eye is getting a chance to heal the tear.

TheraTears uses Oyxmethylcellulose which works differently from greasy gels and it’s done wonders for me in a week! I am thankful to have found this preservative free, easy to use product as it’s helped my eyes tremendously!.

According to my ophthalmologist you can hurt your eyes if you use a lot of eyedrops from the bottle because there is a lot of chemicals in them. The only eyedrops that do not have any chemicals in it are the single dose drops.

Single dose drops cost a lot of money. That is why I bought the little bottle. In the bottle size that I purchased, there is chemicals in them also , but, the company says that once the drops hit your eyes there is no chemical in it anymore.

I have not found any of the eyedrops that claim this, besides THERA TEARS. How they can make the chemicals magically disappear once it leaves the bottle is beyond me. I only know that I feel comforted knowing that I am not dropping chemicals into my eyes every couple of hours.

These eye drops are amazing. I have tried just about every dry eye product available over the counter and I always come back to these eye drops. I have a chronic inflammatory eye condition that causes my eyes to stay so dry and these eye drops are the only eye drops that provide longer lasting relief.

If you suffer from a chronic dry eye these drops are superior to other more expensive brands I’ve tried.

I have dry eyes but I can not use the RX drops … they made my eyes feel drier for some reason. The Systane complete I have used for over 3 years now and it is my preferred over the counter drop. The ingredients is this drop are lubricating but they don’t cause blurriness or any long term issues.

They seem to absorb quickly. I wish the container was much larger and the price lower though. Being a lubricating drop these don’t fix the problem so you do use this a few times a day. Rx drops are designed to fix dry eye and help you produce more tears on your own but they have side effects and are not tolerated by everyone.

The active ingredient is propelyne glycol.

I have hereditary dry eyes & seious eye allergies to boot. Right now my eyes are are super itchy. The directions say one drop last 8 hours. Maybe for normal eyeballs but not mine. My eyes are so itchy one srops burns – then another drop is needed to do the job the first drop can’t because of how extremely dry my eyes are.

That 2nd drops gives me a few hours of relief. It’s never enough. I alternate between this & Pataday – for me there wonder ever be a 1 & done drop. But I’m glad I have both available OTC now. Before it was a nightmare with insurance refusing to pay.

Bought this because my eye dr recoit to me prior to using any tear producing eye drops. i have severe painful dry eyes, (age 45) I dont spend so much on comouter screen however I’m constantly on my phonr and I do a lot of reading.

ive had severe bad dry eyes for about few weeks and waking up with them has been painful so. as hesitant for me to try this since it looked milky, I finally did and oh goodness, the feeling of that moist in my eyes felt so good.

However after not even 30mins I still felt lil soreness from the dry eyes. its only day 1 with these eye drops. Ill upfate my experience after couple days on this, so well see.

These are the only eye drops I’ll ever use. I have very dry eyes from allergies and as a side effect from the medication I get injected in my eyes (I have Macular Degeneration). On a typical day my eyelids feel like they’re lined with fine grain sandpaper.

These drops get rid of that feeling almost instantly. The gel version of these drops work well but because of my low vision I have a hard time using them. These are my favorite. Yes they’re pricy but for 2-3 drops of Visine, which only takes away the redness, you need only 1 drop of these.

I highly recommend them! They usually have a coupon for them in the newspaper or your eye doctor might have a sample that usually comes with a coupon. ).

Well I can’t speak for the product cuz the stupid safety cap wouldn’t open at all. When I finally got it opened, the eye drops didn’t come from the opening it should. It began pouring from the base of the nozzle where the tube meets the nozzle I just wasted the entire thing as there is no way to use it as it’s no longer in a clean or sterile environment.

If I am in dire need of ointment in my eyes, what makes you think I want to figure A stupid puzzle out to get relief? If you need a safety method, use the shrink wrap plastic, just like the drops you sell.

If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it!! Unless you have someone who would open them while you can’t see from whatever condition you suffer from (mine is inflamed inner lids, which is the equivalent to sand paper scratching and scraping the eyeball… yup incredibly painful!) skip this and find a different one that doesn’t require an instruction manual.

I use this procedure several times daily for my ten year old pet. I adopted him from the local animal shelter. He was picking up by the county’s animal control. He didn’t have an identity information.

Did some research on dry eye relief, b/c I’d only required eye drops previously during allergy season. Had tried another brand which was effective also, but I needed to use 3-4 xs/day & felt it was water-y; that a lot leaked out upon application.

GenTEAL TEARS terrific!! Thicker consistency, clear, not milky white (as I’d read on some other brands). No stinging or burning. Twice/day use is enough for me. It’s made by Alcon. So, for people who use Zaditor allergy eye drops; they’re also made by Alcon.

I have chronic dry eye and my opthamologist recommended GenTeal. She told me that redness reliever/remover in eye drops only dry the eye out even more. No redness remover in GenTeal, these drops are for lubricating the eyes to elevate issues that having dry eye cause.

My eyes constantly felt like sand was in them. These drops are amazing! I use them daily, sometimes a couple of times a day, as needed. When I put them in my eyes, they really do not burn! They really are soothing and I can tell a BIG DIFFERENCE in how much better my eyes feel overall.

After getting Lasik surgery my eyes were extremely dry. To the point that I will wake up in the middle of the night because my eyes felt so uncomfortable. While I was putting eye drops frequently, these weren’t enough.

I bought this and started using it at night, and it made a HUGE difference. After two nights of using it, I was able to get a full 8 hrs of sleep and my eyes didn’t get as dry during the day. I will still apply drops before my makeup but I didn’t have to constantly apply eye drops throughout the day.

The product feels quite weird in the eye, it is like you are putting a bit of Vaseline, as soon as you put it on and blink, your sight will go blurry – this goes away after a few blinks. Preferably you should use this product at night before going to bed to get the best results.

The product is quite messy and it may make your entire eye area feel a bit oily. I think that this is a great product for very dry eyes, this is like your skin moisture treatment that you use at night but for your eyes.

My only issue is that the tube is small, and I think it is a bit high up there in price for just and over the counter eye treatment. Also, the line has another product that’s in a gel form which is more comfortable to apply to the eye.

I currently use the gel treatment almost everyday and during the weekends or days that I had a long day at work I will use this. They are both good products, it just depends on your preference of consistency and eye sensitivity.

As someone with severe RCS (recurring corneal erosion syndrome) this was the one thing my eye dr recommended for me to use at night to keep my eye completely lubricated. This is a little life saver in a bottle.

I have been using this product religiously for over a year and a half now and its definitely doing a good job. I never go to bed without it in my eye! Also works really well if you suffer from dry eyes in general.

I usually buy these in bulk due to how small it is and how often I need to use it but its super affordable, less than $8 at Walmart!.

My left eye does not make tears due to nerve damage from brain surgery. I rely on gel drops during the day and nighttime lubricants to keep my cornea protected and lubricated. Systane is great. It doesn’t “melt” as much as those ointments with more mineral oil and doesn’t irritate.

It may cost a bit more, but my eyes are worth it.

If you’re having issues with blurred vision during the day due to dry eyes, this ointment may be highly beneficial for you. A lot of my issues resolved after beginning to use this eye ointment every night before bedtime.

I also didn’t need to apply more than a fingertip’s width to each eye for it to last throughout the night. It is a slightly more viscous ointment due to the higher petrolatum concentration — and I much prefer that to thinner ointments which have a larger proportion of mineral oil.

The petrolatum is what really keeps my eyes moisturized, non-irritated, and this ointment thankfully does not travel around the eye area outside of my eyes often which means it won’t make a mess on my pillow cases/eye mask.

My only complaint would be the metal tube, but it’s one that I’m not too bothered by since the product itself works well.

I’ve just recently started using these eye drops. Although I will say they certainly don’t burn like most. I have Dry Eye Syndrome along with Bell’s palsy that has effected my eyes severely therefore it doesn’t take much to cause pain.

Great product and price plus free shipping! Our local Sam’s quit carrying these drops and my mother needs them after cataract surgery and lens implants left her eyes dry. Local drugstore wanted 17. 95 for one small vial.

I have tried every Visine dry eye formula and this one is the longest lasting. I get dry eyes over night and wake up to eyes that hurt to blink. This was caused from two different Lasik procedures, which is known to leave one with dry eyes.

I needed something that would help alleviate the pain of a dry morning eye. If used before bed, most mornings I wake without much discomfort before applying a few drops. I do not need to use them during the day too often as they seem to has a lasting effect.

None of the other dry eye formulas can claim this for me.

this is the best for me. Its not gunky or thick. Its just ‘right’. Doesnt sting , no astringent in it. The price IS a bit high, but I pay it and best price is thru Walmart so far, unless on sale somewhere.

ALSO a tip; with virus’s everywhere, I wash my eyes after a trip out to groceries or say even gas up. I feel our eyes are mostly unprotected to general public and I keep a bottle near my kitchen and bathroom sinks as a reminder to wash up well and clean my eyes AND nose , too with a nasal saline solution You may think this is overboard, but its not.

Regardless of the current virus, I feel it will help for all other viruses and get into the ‘habit’ of doing this only when I get back home being around potential others.

So this product is really comparable to systane eye drops dry eye relief. While I do not have dry eyes condition my eyes tend to get dried out during allergy seasons. This product is wonderful and gentle.

It feels like the same PH balance as the eye so their is no stinging or blurry vision after applying drops. This is a great moisturizing eye drop!.

My go to after looking at a computer screen all day. My eyes can dry so quickly when concentrating on the monitor while working. I great product that instantly revives my eyes feeling refreshed for hours at a time.

Even safe to use while wearing contact lenses. Won’t use another brand. these eyedrops are great!!.

I’m older and used to indoor tan for 30 years all year round at least 5 times a week. although I do not ave any eye damage or wrinkles thank God. Between age and the extreme heat of the tanning booths, I developed severe dry eye as in not producing any tears, I went to my eye doctor and I’m on Restasis which thank God again I have awesome coverage because my insurance pays $787 a month.

There is no generic. My doctor told me to use the refresh optive preservative free along with the restasis and it’s working pretty well. I may have to stay on Restasis permanently. We dont know that yet.

But if you just have dry irritated eyes, this is a good product. My case is extreme and they are made by the same company. Try them. they do work.

Most likely dry eye patients are near or in the senior range. I purchased MEGA-3 after a referral from my eye doctor. When I got home and opened the package I saw the single drop dispensers. My first thought was these tubes are not user friendly.

I often have to put drops in my eyes in the middle of the night and these are not something you can grab quickly and use. Also, when administering eyedrops in general, one cannot help touching their eyes with the end of the tube at times.

Unfortunately the twist off end that dispense the drops is jagged. Definitely a safety issue all around. Just make them in a normal eye drop bottle please.

Dear Gemma, These are preservative free that is why they are single plastic containers. This is unfortunately the only way any company can make eye drops preservative free. Did they work? PS. Refresh makes excellent products.

I’ve been using these for a while and they used to seem to provide more lubrication or else my eyes are getting drier. They do work but I have to use them more often lately in order to alleviate my dry eye symptoms.

They have the same ingredients as the more expensive brand so maybe it’s just me. Same exact quantities of ingredients from popular name brands at a fraction of the price.

Wonderful product I love it. I had very teary eyes. I always needed to have a tissue near me to wipe away my tears. After I used this product two times it has cured that problem. I have never used dry eyes products.
