20 Best Eye Look For Hooded Eyes (2023 Updated)

My husband purchased this for me right before the Holidays. I had been eyeing it up but hadnt fully committed to the purchase when he beat me to the punch. ABH has quality shadows, some of the best on the market, especially her shimmers.

but her repeat colors and similar color stories keep me from purchasing every release. Then Norvina happened and my wallet hasnt been the same since. This palette is the third volume in the Norvina collection.

Description says volume 2 but that is not correct Of the three, this one spoke to me most. The colors in this are stunning and more inspiring than I imagined. The warm tones could go from fall themed to tropical or neutral.

This palette can stay relevant long after fall, into spring and summer proving its versatility and longevity. First impressions and formula The packaging is unique and beautiful. The shadows are housed in a metal casing that is durable, easy to keep clean and sleek.

The orange is bold and the gold butterflies add a pretty, feminine touch. The palette has 25 decent sized pans and at 60 bucks, youre getting each pan at 2. 40. I love that the colors arent strategically placed but rather all over the place so that it essentially inspires you to be creative.

The formula is a pressed pigment, therefore, there are warnings to not use certain colors around or near the eye area, RELAX. you wont go blind or die, it just means that its possible this will stain your skin or you could have a reaction to it.

That warning must be placed on all pressed pigments. That said, these are obviously pigmented and the redorangepinks have stained my skin. There is some fallout but nothing obscene and to be expected with pressed pigments.

I would reccomend doing your eyes first as some colors do have more fallout than others and even though its not a lot, it is a little harder to sweep away. This might be a deal breaker for some but the pigment and quality is worth it in my opinion.

The pigments are super soft and blendable, making these friendly no matter where you are on the skill level spectrum. The yellows and greens have the most kickback and are almost powdery but apply well.

There are a few colors that do not translate the same from pan to eye. Some of the shades pull darker. Again, not an issue for me. Ive seen reviews say these are hard to blend, specifically blending colors with one another but that was not my experience at all.

Some colors took a little more work than others but nothing crazy and none of them muddied up or blended into nothing. Some people have complained about the absence of a matte black and while I would usually agree, it is not needed in this palette.

If you must have one, Im sure we all have at least 15 in other palettes. It really is okay to reach for another palette. Overall I removed one star simply due to the staining. Its not too bothersome but a nuisance nonetheless.

Besides that, I was pleased with this palette and reach for it consistently. I have achieved neutral looks, fall and Christmas looks, sunset and summer looks, tropical and spring looks. The versatility will keep this palette in my top drawer.

I now have this balm in three colors – Light, Medium and Deep. The Deep color is my favorite. It’s a cool toned rich berry color, but it’s not too dark or purple-y. The Light and Medium colors are both definitely more red toned (at least on me).

I wish the Light color was more of a pink. The swatches online are not very accurate unfortunately – in my opinion. They are all sheer, so I do wear them all, but I definitely will not repurchase the Medium color, and I”m on the fence about the Light color.

I prefer balms over lipsticks in general and Chanel does not disappoint. I don’t have a problem with this balm drying out my lips like some other reviewers mentioned. The balm is lightweight, wears nicely and is great for traveling, or keeping in your purse for quick application.

I’ve also liked how the balm looks with different lip glosses on top.

I don’t find the Light Les Beiges Healthy Glow to be too glittery at all. In fact I got these Chanel Palettes to steer me away from some pallets from other brands that were a bit scary. I find it a natural look.

I also Purchased the “Intense” and I’m looking at the “Medium” option as well. Intense seems a bit too too for me, which is why I keep grabbing for the Light. Love the way these lay down. I’m sure as soon as I get over myself Intense will be a good friend as well.

This is literally the most stunning glitter eyeshadow I have ever used. I have them in a few colors but my absolute favorites are smoke and ray. If you’re medium to deep skin tone ray is unbelievable.

I find they are easier to use if you apply all of your powder shadows first and apply this last on the lid so you don’t end up with glitter everywhere when you go to blend your crease colors. I like to apply them with my ring finger but because I have long nails I’m forced to apply the with a semi dense natural hair brush.

Anything synthetic will have the shadow falling everywhere which I’m assuming is the case for the people who rated this low. Most glitter shadows get so compacted together that it doesn’t give a nice reflect.

With these you can see the sparkle and for me they’re super easy to use. I had zero creasing. I recommend applying your matte crease shadows first and adding this at the end and just pop your lashes on.

If these ever get discontinued I don’t know what I would do with myself. For working makeup artists these are a MUST. Especially for soft glams and bridal work.

Bought this in aura and rapture. Neither was exactly the color I was looking for (i wanted a rosy type color that wasn’t too dark and with no warm undertones) BUT I still love both of these colors. And guess what? I’m gonna have to buy every single one of these.

Because these are amazing. Extremely easy to use, super luxorious feeling and looking, and literally makes it look like a got my makeup done with a celebrity makeup artist. Obsessed. They spread easily and don’t slide around or come off.

Makes me look and feel more beautiful. I cannot get over how much they nailed this. FAR surpasses ones I’ve used by Charlotte tilbury, Tom ford, Victoria Beckham etc. you can even contour your crease with one color and put a lighter color all over, blends like a dream.

I LOVE the hourglass scattered light eyeshadows! I have it in Aura (pink) and sm0ke (taupe) (Ulta’s profanity filter doesn’t seem to like the word ‘sm0ke’. ), but I’ve also got my eye on Reflect and Ray.

When you apply it to your lid, they look so beautifully sparkly. I love the slightly more subtle glitter of this product – don’t get me wrong, this stuff is DEFINITELY glittery, but I find that the glitter particles are suuuuper fine and cause the most gorgeous sparkly effect, in comparison to other glitter eyeshadows that seem slightly chunkier.

I would only ever wear something like the Stila glitter & glows or the Colourpop ultra glitter SSS on a night out, whereas I would 100% wear these hourglass shadows during the day. These shadows are incredible as one-and-done eyeshadows, but they also look great with a complimentary matte shadow in the crease.

If I had to choose only one, I’d probably pick Sm0ke over Aura just because Sm0ke feels like a bit more of a unique color, and I could see Sm0ke looking good on any skin tone. Of course, you could probably find a product that gives you a similar effect for a lower price tag, but I bought these two as a special treat for myself.

So if you’re looking to treat yourself to a gorgeous glitter shadow, and you don’t mind spending a bit more, then I’d definitely recommend getting one of these!.

i got this in the shade double note because i wanted an all over the lid glitter just for every day. maybe I was using it the wrong way or something, but the little applicator tip is so so so tiny and thin its really hard to get much product on the lid without dipping in 3 million times.

also, I noticed that the sparkles tended to kind of clump up together and was kind of patchy and didn’t stick super well on my lid. I also noticed that throughout the day, the sparkles kind of came off and were in the tips of my eyelashes or they got into my eyes which was kind of painful.

that could have maybe been my mistake, but i don’t think it was. I DO loveeee the sparkle and colour it gives. Its totally this beautiful holographic sparkle that looks super good on pretty much everyone, but especially if you have brown eyes.

i don’t think I’ll buy this or recommend it but I’ll use up the one I have and use it occasionally.

I just bought this at an Ulta store. It’s my first liquid shadow, so I was excited to try it and put it on when I got home. It is absolutely perfect in every way – extremely fast and easy to apply, precision application is very easy and there are so many ways it can quickly be applied to attain different looks.

It could even be used as an eyeliner for an understated look. There’s so much color payoff with very little product, too, and the applicator is just the right size. I got it in “Cloud”, which makes my green eyes really pop – it’s lavender without being obvious (though I’m sure you could make the color more obvious by adding a second coat).

This is SO much easier and faster to apply than powder shadow, and doesn’t seem to settle into fine lines like sparkly powder shadows tend to do, so it will be perfect for everyday use. It’s extremely easy to apply along the lower lash line also, and the end result looks like I spent a LOT more time on my eye makeup than I really did.

Less than a minute is all it took! I really can’t wait to get more colors, this product is my new makeup obsession!.

I love the kitten color so much because it glides on nicely and I think fabulous for the over 50 crowd! I am almost 52 and have never had more people Compliment the color on me. I use Kitten and have medium to olive skin tone and grey/blue eyes.

I am writing this review to directly disagree with whomever said this is for the kids/younger people. It is perfect for all ages! And after seeing it on me, people have bought it of all ages. By the way I am a less is more Person, so I wear this even without mascara as it is enough pop of color and my eyes get dry these days.

I bought the green shade, “dynamic. ” It has one of the most stunning shimmers of any eyeshadow I’ve ever bought. I primed with e. l. f poreless putty primer, and blended with shades from a color pop palette to create a shiny green smoky eye.

You can layer really nicely with this product, make the shade as vibrant as you’d like. I did two maybe three layers for a very bold look. Barely creased after 5 hrs, without setting powder or spray.

Wonderful product and I will be buying other shades in the future. 💚.

I was really excited to try this because I wanted something with a “wet look”. This product swatches nicely and leaves an opaque layer of color on your hand but, in reality, when you apply it on your eye it sheers out a lot, and working it with your fingers sheers it out even more.

You’re not gonna get the true-to-tube color payoff unless you apply it in layers, which seems like way too much work for a liquid eyeshadow, you can get similar sparkle with an ultraglitter supershock from ColourPop.

Additionally, the color I bought, Stream, is described as a Taupe when it’s definitely a rose gold, there’s no coolness at all. I’m light-medium to medium and I wouldn’t consider these shadows to be friendly to anyone darker than light.

I bought the second darkest color and even that was still too light and gave little contrast or definition even after I built it up. Stream could work for up to medium skintones if you’re just looking for a sheer wash of color.

Last year I discovered cream shadow sticks and how using them makes it look like you put in much more of an effort than you did, and the same applies for these. Just paint on, and blend with a brush.

As others have commented you have to work quickly because they set fast. But because of that these are tenacious! I have oily eyelids so cream shadows, even the long wearing kind crease on me (even with a primer) and these don’t crease.

There is also no glitter fallout, it really stays put. The instructions on the box say to apply a single layer, but at least with Plum On you need to apply another layer (or two) if you want to build up the colour.

Yes, you can *feel* the glitter on your lids but it doesn’t feel comfortable at least for me. I was always more into lipsticks, but now that I wear a mask at work all day I’ve been looking for fun ways to dress up my eyes.

I was so happy with Plum On I just picked up Molten Midnight and Smoky Storm. Now that it’s almost the holidays I’ll be wearing these everyday straight through to the New Year! As with my other recent Stila purchase I do feel the packaging feels a little dated in that they are unnecessarily bulky.

Still, this is a very good product, an Allure Best of Beauty winner and recommended by Sali Hughes so you can’t go wrong.

I really love Romand’s eyeshadow quads. The mattes are very soft. They apply sheerly, but very smoothly and are easy to build up if you so desire. The glitters are beautiful and very fine, so ok to use on the eyes.

Dry Apple Blossom has three matte shades: a light orange brown, a rusty red and a warm dark brown as well as a transparent glitter. I really like this quad and get a lot of use out of it, both by itself and with other palettes.

The glitter is especially useful for putting on everything lol. Dry Buckwheat Flower also has three matte shades: a light warm gray, a grey brown and a dark cool brown along with a metallic glitter. This is a really pretty cool brown quad.

It’s great for more sophisticated looks. You do have to be a bit careful using it on your under eyes though, as it can make you look really tired, really easily.

As many reviewers have stated, it does not have staying power alone. I find my self reapplying, especially on the tear line. You must use something underneath on your upper lids for staying power, otherwise it’s gone in less then and hour, and if you use the F&M face oil, keep it off your lids, the two work together for quite a raccoon eye.

That’s said, it’s lightweight, it doesn’t irritate the eyes or feel heavy at the end of the day. I didn’t realize how much of a toll my eye makeup was taking until I switched to this. It’s natural ingredients are likely the reason for that.

It’s easy to reapply during the day with your fingertips. It’s an easy Smokey eye look. I continue to use it over pother paint pots, pencils or liquid liners for these reasons. I just wish it was more self setting or had better staying power.

Easy to put on, easy to take off, easy to ROCK. Leaf eye coal is the way to go. The color stays, without fading. I will say that if you get sweaty when you play outside, you may want to put a foundational layer underneath to keep your slickness balanced and prevent some smudging.

Overall, great product. I’ve never NOT gotten a compliment when wearing this on my eyes. It also makes great adornment for cheekbones, and I can rest easy knowing that it’s totally body-friendly and safe to let my little wild child adorn himself as well.

This stuff is amazing! I use it with an eyeliner brush and it’s just amazing. It does smear if rubbed, but it goes on smoothly, it is easy to fix a mistake and it makes it look more natural than most eyeliners.

The ingredients are all natural, which helps my eyes to not hurt after consistent use and the color is deep yet subtle. I got it in black for the specific purpose to use as eyeliner.

I bought #17 because I really liked it when trying it with help from a consultant in the store. It looked good then and it still looks good now. I am new to the product line but I have to say it goes on creamy and does not pull my eyelid when putting it on.

I’m impressed with how long the color stays. It has never creased and once on my lids it maintains its creaminess. I have been wearing it at least a couple times a week and like the light glimmer which is a nice backdrop to my liner and mascara.

I am also impressed with the Sisley line, that it’s plant based and not tested on animals. I highly recommend this product to anyone.

I love these. I got the dark brown one and now added the dark grey one. These can be used as a traditional eyeliner or blended out with a brush as a shadow. They do not smudge or flake during the day.

I have dry skin but weirdly greasy/oily eyelids and most eyeliners smear. These do not. These are better than the Laura Mercier caviar sticks and Bobbi Brown eye shadow sticks. I plan to buy more and have been trying other Sisley products.

I bought two Phyto-Eye Twists as a post-lockdown self-indulgence, to boost my confidence as I emerged, mask-clad, into a new world. At 55, I prefer a natural look, so went for the shades N4 Steel and N1 Topaze.

The N4 is heavily pigmented and a light glide along the lash-line (and brows!) gives a perfect smokey-blurr, defining effect. The N1 shade provides a natural lid shadow for my medium-fair colouring, to open and brighten the eye area.

The shape of the ‘pencil’ is ideal for precise or broader application, and the creamy consistency prevents any drag on delicate skin. The colour is easy to blend with a finger before setting, if necessary.

I have very sensitive eyes, but the Phyto-Eye Twists have caused no irritation at all. The colour stays perfectly in place – for a good 18 hours on occasion! Yes, they’re expensive, but the quality is outstanding and I expect them to last extremely well.

I’m a long time fan of Urban Decay & their Naked palettes esp but this one is a stand out among the world of makeup eyeshadow palettes. I’m a red head & you wouldn’t think it works so well for me but it really highlights the richness of my green eyes, the Violet tones of my hair and complements my pale but skin with with yellowish tones.

I totally love wearing them, they set & blend well and with the shades in the palette, you can choose from a muted day look or night on the town look. My hubby has excellent taste & is usually the one that surprises me with my more pricy makeup gifts, he really outdid himself with this one.

It’s a very well appreciated gift & I’m lucky he has such excellent taste & knows quality. Tks Babe for the great gift & thank you Urban Decay for once again putting out an amazing shadow palette that works for women of all ethnicities & skin tones & is rich and long wearing.

My only one comment/question is that when applying dry shadow, even though I do own & use high quality eye shadow brushes, when I apply the shadow dry, shadow dust lands beneath & around gets all my eye socket area so it’s usually easier to first apply my eye makeup first then go back & complete the rest of my makeup then clean up the mess & apply my concealer, foundation, etc.

I do use a my UD shadow primer & set the shadow but it doesn’t seem to help. Any other ideas why this occurs?.

I don’t usually splurge on one thing like this but WOW. I felt better about the purchase the first day I bought it. I’ve had it for almost 2 weeks now and I’ve received so many compliments on the eye looks and bag.

I will buy it again when these producta run low or when it goes on sale just for the value! The colors effortlessly and so beautifully you can create an ombre effect with any of the colors. It lasts all day thanks to the primer potion.

The lip color is my new favorite looks a bit more purple than the photos but still perfect for casual wear! If you are eating or drinking throughout the day I would bring it with you to reapply to the inner part of your lips doesnt seem to stand up to liquids but most of it will stay and totally worth it.

I’m so happy I bought this, and too think I was about to pass it up. The bag is beautiful. The material feels very high quality, which is more than what I was expecting. I love that it is able to fold down and snap with the help of metal magnetic closures.

All of the “travel” size items seem so much bigger than travel size, with the exception of the eyeliner. The palette is beautiful. I did not except these colors to be this stunning. I have maaaaany eyeshadow palettes and figures I would find most of these colors in all of the other palettes that I own, but I believe I put my foot in my mouth for the most part there.

Don’t be in the fence about this, it’s a wonderful set. It would make a great gift for the holidays for yourself or anyone you know.

About a year ago, I started playing with make up more than I ever have in my whole 33 years. I started out with inexpensive brushes not realizing the difference it would make in my make up. I started seeing the BK brushes once in a while on social media.

These brushes are AMAZING! I had assumed that my frustration applying matte eyeshadow to my small, hooded eyelids was mostly due to the quality of the product, but turned out to be the brushes. I didn’t realize how coarse my brushes were and that they literally dragged my eyelid around.

These BK Beauty brushes are super soft and the perfect size for a beautiful finish. Now I can stop blaming the shadows that I shoved aside and enjoy them again. Thanks BK Beauty!.

Okay: this is STUNNING! I’ve found the vibrancy of many of the bright Rituel De Fille products I’ve tried so far to be fairly muted, especially when comparing the real thing to the media produced by the brand.

Of course, every beauty company juices up their offerings in post production. Another consideration is, when working with natural pigments, you just can’t complete with synthetic pigments for their bright, plastic, candy-coloured tones.

Violets and magentas are especially hard to formulate from natural sources. Viscera is, so far, the exception to this. It is a bright, deep, true red. It’s not as cool-toned as I expected, but that’s my only, tiny critique so far.

I just received it yesterday (the shipment came so fast! I placed my order on August 20th, and just received it on August 31! I’m in Canada, and my other orders have taken as much as double that amount of time.

) so I haven’t tried it on my face, yet. I did swatch it several times on my hand, and WHOOOO! It’s pigmented!! The Ramos Sisters are *not* playing around, here. The shimmer is gorgeous and foiled, and clings for a very long time.

After multiple, thorough, hand washings, I’m still seeing flecks of dark red shimmer clinging to my skin! The base is deep and shadowy, perfect for showcasing the bright cherry red. It looks like it would blend beautifully into other shades; I’m thinking Cultist and Serpent De Mer will be great matches.

I’m very excited to experiment with this. I have partially-hooded eyelids, so eye colours tend to shift and wear out quickly on me, especially clean beauty products. I expect migration and fallout, of course, but I have a feeling that this will be the punchy, bright colour that I’ve been hoping for.

Next time, I’m going for Rosa in the Eye Geleé line, and I’m hoping it’s as bright, true, and foiled as this is!.

I received this in the mail today and I was overjoyed. First thing I did was swatch it across the back of my hand with my finger tip and the variation in color was in chanting. There’s something special about these pigments as you drag it across your skin you can see that they have almost a very subtle Multichrome element to them.

Where it’s more dense it has a deeper shade and the lighter hand you use the lighter the pigment appears. As simple as that might sound there is variation that is hard to capture in words but I assure is unlike other eyeshadows on the market.

After tests swatching it I got to work using this color to add depth and dimension to a similar but lighter Pigment called Divinus which I applied to my lids first then added Love Spell to the outside corners and along my lid fold.

It’s rich pigmentation was gorgeous and blended well. I was able to shade it up and out to the tail of my eyebrows and it was very easy to work with. It has a perfect combination of having a pop of shimmer but still subtle so it doesn’t look like you have large pieces of shiny material on your eyes.

What I like best about this pigment is how Beautiful the copper color is ~ I feel it works well with brown/flesh/beige Pigment but it also complements warm rose tones as well.

I purchased the shades obsidian and daemon because I wanted a very dark true black in a single shadow and a primary red without any pinkish undertones as most red eyeshadows seem to have. I give 10/10 for the black eyeshadow purchased since it is exactly what I wanted – very dark and fantastic texture.

As for the red eyeshadow, while I don’t mind the colour it isn’t exactly what I was hoping for. The red has a pinkish undertone to it and therefore not really a true red. Given the name daemon it isn’t what I thought it would be.

I have kept both eyeshadows however, because they are really nice quality. They are strongly pigmented and blend with ease so I would highly recommend them.

Product photo on website isn’t totally accurate to real life. It’s much more bright green in person and I was hoping for a more rich green. The quality is not impressive either. Chalky and doesn’t blend well sadly.

The pigmentation is lacking. I wouldn’t associate this single shadow with Illamasqua and their quality. I’m glad I bought this on sale but it was still quite a significant price tag with currency exchange and duty.

Wouldn’t recommend this shade. Perhaps there are other shades with more punch to them but Fledgling isn’t wowing me at all unfortunately.
