20 Best Eye Gel For Dry Eyes (2023 Updated)

The Ophthalmologist recommended for my very dry eyes. He said a lack of the oils that naturally secrete from the rims of eyelids usually causes dry eyes; we lose that as we age. These drops have a little oil to them to seal in the tears.

It may cause slight blurriness for maybe a minute for me it doesn’t. Since I suffer from Dry Eyes, I require something like this. This is thicker than most drops, but that works for me. Very soothing.

Really takes it up a notch from regular artificial tears, and it doesn’t burn at all. Since my eyes are dry and dryer during allergy season, many drops work to relieve the dryness, but they just don’t last very long and I find myself using the products too often.

When I use in the mornings, I find I am fine for the rest of the day. I use right before bed and I wake up with no gritty sandpaper feeling. I also like the ingredients. Based on what my eye doctor told me, the ingredients in the Refresh Liquigels are more on the preferable side rather than the undesirable side, and what goes into them is ideal for someone using eye drops on a long-term basis, with a proven and accepted safety record.

Given the risks now known with some brand eye drops, I consider this to be a very important criterion for what I put into my eyes, as they are kinda important after all. So I think for many this may be more extended relief than many of the conventional products, and it is certainly worth a try!.

I really like these eye drops a lot. My eyes get really dry, itchy and gritty. Originally I was recommended the optive gel drops by my eye doctor. in my picture it shows the small sample bottle given to me but I couldn’t find that particular one in store so I got the liquigel.

Either one is great! before I was using visine or clear eyes and they were not hydrating and moisturizing enough. In one of the pictures from left to right; Optive gel drops, liquigel, visine, and as you can see the visine is so liquidy it just runs off my hand which was barely tilted.

The big difference between the two refresh drops is that the Optive gel drops are a little more gel like, slick and slightly more tacky. When rubbing it on my hand it went a little further than the liquigel.

The Optive gel drops only come in a 10 ml size. The liquigel ones come in a 15 ml size and work really well if you can’t find the other, and work even better than any typical eye drop because of the gel formula over the watery consistency of other drops which also make them last a lot longer on the eye! In my opinion they feel more soothing and comfortable going in your eye over the watery drops.

The gel was excellent at alleviating dry eyes. used at night and saw improvements as soon as the following day. the issue is one of the ingredients which worsens symptoms of a chronic illness. if you have myasthenia gravis, this product may cause worsening of eye fatigue.

if you have this, you should stop using immediately. i have notified the company of this product but they have not responded to my inquiry.

I’ve used Refresh products before and have had good results overall. However, I am not a fan of these gel drops. I’ve had issues with dry eyes since having LASIK several years ago, so I like to always keep eye drops on hand and use them often.

These gel drops do not provide immediate hydration like others I’ve tried in the past, like Refresh Advanced or Refresh Tears. The drops look like liquid consistency even though they call them a gel.

They are very slow to spread throughout the eye. I feel like most of the product ends up running out onto my face instead, even though I blink to try to incorporate it. Afterwards, my vision is blurry for a few minutes from the thickness of the solution, and then for about an hour my eyes feel so sore and tired! This happens every time I have used the product, and I have no idea why.

I had LASIK eye surgery last week. When the surgeon cuts through the nerves, it disconnects your eyes’ ability to know when they are dry. My doctor and nurses recommended these and I’m so thankful. While the regular tears work, these gel drops are so much more effective for super dryness.

They will cause your vision to be a little blurry for a few minutes, so they aren’t ideal for driving. However, sometimes you need an excuse to close your eyes for a few minutes and this will give you the opportunity 😉.

My dry eye had gotten far worse over the past several months. Doctor recommend Refresh Gel eye drops to help the right eye with the irritation and Refresh 4 times a day in both eyes. Wow, what a difference.

I would like to stay on the Refresh as it remains in the eye for comfort longer than the drops I was using. Faster results after being applied. No stinging of the eye at all.

This ointment is wonderful. Eye doctor said I had to start using an ointment ( not gel or drops as they are not effective for all dry eye problems). My eyes dry so much at night, they cause my right eye to have monthly retinal tears.

The ointment he recommended was 97% petroleum jelly and just too uncomfortable for me. THANK goodness I stumbled on this nighttime ointment which is only half petroleum and half mineral oil and SO much more comfortable, otherwise I was looking at getting plugs in my eyes.

I have been using this for 4 years so wholeheartedly recommend. Also in disagreement with a one star review, you only use ONE drop per night as again, it’s a thick ointment. For me, I only need this for one eye, so the “ tiny” tube lasts me 8-10 weeks.

With two eyes at nite I’d suspect one tube would EASILY last a 4-5 weeks. I believe the bad review here is because the person had no idea what they were purchasing or how to properly use it. I say this because MOST people who buy night ointment actually prefer the more heavy products.

And filled with air? Of course there is some air, otherwise the ointment would ooze out as soon as you squeeze it. I keep my tube upside down so I don’t have to wait for the ointment to come out ( kind of like ketchup, it’s thick and takes time).

I really like this product for I had a major surgery n the Dr had to cut my facial nerve and that left me with no blink in my left eye and I have been Thur the mill trying to find something to sooth the eye and keep it moisturize and not get a dry eye.

This product feels really good to me it doesn’t burn the eye,or make a big mess of it when u put it in the eye. And Thur the day I use this and a prescription from my doctor of the Xiidra and it’s good stuff to but need your insurance to cover that it’s expensive.

The tube is super small. The ointment comes out in globs. More of it gets on the eyelids than on the eye itself. The container of ointment will not last long because so much of the ointment is wasted by it coming out in globs.

It does make my eye feel less dry, but vision is extremely blurred after application. I guess that is why it is for nighttime use. I thought it would be more of a gel that drops easily onto the eye, but it looks and feels like Vaseline.

Not worth the money.

Another great product from Similasan, a great company for healthy, natural products. There is NOTHING wrong with the Ivizia product, packaging, or ease of use. Works as it should, as advertised. Unless you have a physical malady, the consumer who said she had issues with the design of the bottle, when dispensing the medication into her eyes, is the one with the issue.

The whole wording of her statement appears to be bogus and suspicious. I’ve used worse designs from major pharma, as eye meds. And I’m not in the medical or health fields, and do not work for and am not associated with any pharma or medical or eye medicine co.

, including Similasan. I’ve also used Similasan eye products for years with much success, as well as many of my friends amd family members who have, or had, eye issues too. Similasan doesn’t deserve that negative comment from that customer.

Their products work and are easy to use. FYI, I was born with vision issues and have worn eyeglasses since age 3. I stand behind my statement at 57 years, young. One other quick mention, as the discriminating consumer I am, especially when it comes to my eyes, Similasan is not a run-of-the-mill eye solution provider-manufacturer.

If your ophthalmologist or optician is worth their “salt”, they’ll confirm Similasan as a player in natropathic eye care.

I LOVE these eye drops! I have horribly dry eyes and my Optometrist recommended another brand. It made my eyes blurred and itchy. I saw these on TV and decided to try them because the doctor said I have to have Preservative Free and these are.

I have amazing relief from dry eyes and associated redness with this product. The very first time I used it, relief was instant! I have tried MANY other products for this condition which has really seemed to worsen in the last several years.

I use iVizia maybe 4-5 times daily as opposed to almost hourly with others. Still trying to find the overnight iVizia lubricant eye gel…it is sold out everywhere I look!.

I am not sure if I have dry eye or not, but my doctor has mentioned it before and I keep having blurry eyes. It’s probably a combination of a few things, but I do stare at my phone and screens all the time and I always have a fan blowing way my face.

I bought another type of gel drops at the same time with a different active ingredient and I like these better (not totally sure why). It does clear up blurriness a bit, but I think there may be eye strain in there too.

I’m curious if these drops will help a little bit in between application, because the box says they can prevent further irritation. I’m going to try to use them more regularly to see if my blurriness improves more and then I can take further measures with my doctor.

These gel drops were recommended by my Retinal Specialist and are great for dry eyes. Gel drop is thicker than regular drops, very lubricating, and dont cause discomfort. I received exactly as described, factory sealed bottle, in unopened boxes.

Im having issues with my eye watering real bad. I went to the eye doctor and she said I have dry eye and I needed to get gel eye drops. So this is the second brand I have tried. I love how they sooth my eyes and just overall feel of them.

You should use eye drops after you take your makeup off to rinse the excess out of your eyes. And your will not have those black eye boogies.

I tried a number of generic eye drops, thinking there wouldn’t be a difference. I even tried some recommended by an eye surgeon who suffers with extremely dry eyes. I liked blink the best. A bit pricey.

I bought the expired Systane Night Time ointment. It barely worked if it worked at all. My eyes were agitated for two days. I have used Systane for several years due to eye surgery. I was unaware of the issue with expired ointment not working.

Do not buy Systane Night Time expired if you have dry eyes. The ingredients deteriorate and will agitate your eye. There will be no relief. I had to go to Walgreens to buy a new tube within 48 hours.

I have dry eyes and have used many other brands in the past. Yes, they soothe but are they free of preservative and phosphate, and not come in those single-vials that are completely wasteful (I never use more than 50% of the vials’ content and have to throw them away).

This is the product you’re looking for. It may be a bit expensive, but it is your EYES we’re talking about. Definitely recommended.

Leaves a gel layer on your eye giving you eye relief. Used this first time after a day of hiking at Zion where i got a bunch of sunscreen lotion and sand in my eye. Tried rinsing my eyes out to get as much as I could out but it didn’t seem anything was helping.

I got a big box of single use drop gel tubes and after the first application my eyes felt a huge relief within a few minutes. At first the application makes your vision blurry but once you blink it out its a whole another world.

Made a huge difference. Definitely recommend if you need some immediate eye relief and protection.

The drops fogged vision in right eye versus using simple artificial tears. This is eye needs cataract surgery; thought it would help – actually made it worse. No pain, no burning just fogged the vision.

Its nice and soothing, I use it before bed and it lasts all night. I have tried different ones as some others havnt got preservatives in but theyre really thick greasy ointments and I dont like them.

Its a shame they dont make this one preservative free.

Have used this eye gel for 8+years. I normally obtain it by prescription, but ran low . Very soothing eye gel. No issues.

This product moisturises dry and eases tired eyes. It is in a slightly more viscous form (liquid gel) than eye drops so lies a little more heavily on the eyes – hence I prefer to use it overnight, when it is wonderfully soothing.

Have used SYSTANE drops for my chronic dry eye syndrome for years. This Gel labeled one is not the thick gel found on tubes but a slightly thicker consistency than their regular product. It provides additional relief at the end of the day when my eyes hurt the most.

Lack of preservatives makes it superior product for sensitive eyes. I highly recommend.

I bought this product upon the advice of my Ophthalmologist who diagnosed me with severe dry eyes due to Sjogren’s Syndrome ( normal Schirmer’s test reading is 7, mine was 1. 5) I was instructed to use this product 4s’s a day.

I don’t know why when I use this product my eyes immediately feel dry and scratchy. I understand that being a gel, will coat the eye and everything is blurry for a few minutes after use. After going through my eyes being dry ,scratchy, and blurry for 10 minutes, my eyes begin to feel normal again.

I can’t say if this product is helping my sever dry eyes or not. When I finish this bottle, I am going to try another brand. I feel the same about their night time gel too. Perhaps this feeling is normal, I don’t know as this is the first time using this product.

If you find that you have really dry eyes, especially after a night’s sleep, then I would recommend trying these Systane Gel Drops. Since they are a gel, the drop stay in your eyes better and for longer.

Thus, they will stay in your eyes through the night while you sleep. I use them at night and my eyes aren’t dry when I wake in the morning. I will warn you, though, that these drops probably aren’t very good for daytime use.

Even though they says they are appropriate for anytime, because they are a gel formula, which is thicker than a regular liquid drop, they make your vision blurry and it lasts for quite a while after you use them.

Otherwise, these are good, effective eyedrops for dry eyes.

I tried this on a whim, b/c nothing yet has worked for me overnight. Not even Systane Gel. I’ve used this for a week and the product has delivered IN FULL each time. Finally, I can open my eyes during the night and not feel sandpaper all over my eyeballs.

These drops provide temporary relief and cause slight stinging upon application. They make my eyes feel lubricated for maybe 10 mins and then they feel even more dry after. I would not recommend this formula, personally.

Especially if you have sjogrens. This does little to nothing and is a waste of money.

If you wake up with dry eyes even though you use eye drops before bed, this is the product you need. I recently moved to a very dry area and my eyes seemed always to feel scratchy. I keep regular drops handy for during the day, but this formula is great at night.

I also use them occasionally during the day, but they are more expensive, plus can give you blurred vision for close-up work since they are a gel.

Genteal gel drops and gel are great products, they work! I’ve been using them for years! They soothe the eye right after you insert them.

This works immediate relief. Coats well and moisturizes. The bottle is designed so only one drop is extracted at a time – with no waste, which is fantastic. But for the high price, a regular non-gel eye drop is a fine alternative too.

I am very pleased with the high low gel drops. They last longer and there is less waste because they stay on my eyes. The drops were delivered very promptly and in good condition. I did subscribe to have three bottles delivered every 3 months but I don’t think I will need to replenish my supply that often.

I’m not sure how to change that.

I love both the Hylo Gel and the Hylo Duo They arrived promptly but I was not at all impressed with the condition of the boxes. They were crushed. I would add a picture if I knew how.

Celluvisc is a thick, viscus eye drop that comes in little single use plastic vials. Being thicker, the substance cushions the eye from lid scratching or even from rigid gas permeable contact lenses.

However, in the latter case, it is possible that the thicker drop might also goop-up on the lens and obscure vision requiring a cleaning. I personally wouldn’t use the drop independent of one’s usual contact lens solutions, but perhaps in conjunction with it if your doctor allows it.

If you get a corneal scratch or other irritation these drops you may find soothing. I did recently order four boxes from Target, and one box came with its plastic envelope cut and the card board box partially open.

Upon inspection, the cardboard was discolored inside – yellowed as though it had been exposed to sunlight or chemical damage. This is unusual, though, as I’ve never had this happen before and I’ve been buying the product for years.
