20 Best External Speaker For Macbook Pro (2023 Updated)

I like the sound, but before I got to enjoy it I ran into a block right off the bat. The box says there is user documentation inside; the Micro Center website says it’s there; but there was no manual in the box.

I’ve built up enough systems over the years to know this happens and charged ahead to find that the unit didn’t work. I found the docs online and fixed that problem–it turns out that the unit won’t work as a plain PC speaker without using the remote.

The remote reminds me of a hockey puck. I think it’s too big for a hand-operated control, but seems to fragile to be foot operated. Then I found another oddity: The thing won’t turn off! The docs say it turns off when you push on the remote, the remote says it’s turning off with an appropriate sound, the box goes quiet.

but it’s not off! I found that out while moving wires around and getting a loud 60Hz hum from the “switched off” speakers when the audio cable got too close to an AC adapter. The amp is very much alive and responding to volume changes from the “turned off” remote.

Only the input from the computer is muted. I’ll repeat what I led off with: The sound is good. The satellite speakers are nice, with detachable “feet” that let you stand them vertically or horizontally, keeping the speaker body off of the desk/shelf surface.

The main subwoofer box is a nice size and has the nice touch of color-coding the left/right speaker connectors. It could use some sort of a handle or inset on the back side to allow picking it up one-handed when moving things around, but that’s a minor nit.

I’m not sending this back. The computer and room I’m using it in is mostly used for music practice and I’ve plugged the unit into an outlet controlled by the wall switch. Maybe these aren’t deal-killer issues for you, either, but you should be aware of them and they are not documented.

(There is an “official response” to someone else’s question on the Logitech support site about how to turn the box off without unplugging, basically saying “leave it unplugged”. That’s all I’ve seen so far.

This speaker set is pretty impressive for the price. I was looking for something that would sound respectable when I wasn’t using my headphones (Sennheiser HD598 SE). I can’t say these speakers are 100% comparable to the headphones, but they are surprisingly clean sounding and rich.

The subwoofer provides solid punchy bass and matches well with the satellites. Even with the sub mounted under my desk the low end sounds like it’s coming from the satellites and the sound is unified and clear with no low end muddiness.

High end is very crisp as well and the set gets louder than is comfortable for me without distortion. They aren’t as balanced and accurate as my headphones, but they are pleasant to listen to, and I don’t feel any frequencies are distractingly exaggerated or missing.

The wireless controller is also a nice touch. I didn’t think I would like it at first, but its very convenient to use. It works well, looks simple and clean, and the speakers are very responsive to the controller with no delays.

The only complaint I have with the set is that when they go to sleep they seem to take forever to wake up sometimes. You can force them to wake up by turning the dial on the controller, but it would be preferable if they were just more responsive.

A small complaint overall though for such great sound at a reasonable price!.

Bottom Line: The Logitech Z407 computer speakers impress both in terms of sound quality and functionality especially at its price point. Pros: Multiple connectivity options, good sound quality, wireless dial is fun to use, price Cons: design, possible interference issues Review: Out of the box, the speakers were easy to set up.

The wireless control knob is automatically paired with the system, and connecting my computer via Bluetooth was simple and straightforward (the connection is stable, so you don’t have to worry about having to reconnect all of the time).

You can also connect two other devices using the micro-USB and 3. 5mm aux ports. Buttons on the bottom of the control knob allow you to switch between inputs, and the active input is indicated by a colored LED on the knob.

The system delivers good sound quality, with strengths in the lower end of the audio spectrum giving music a warm and full sound. Bass performance is very good, and I only noticed distortion turning the bass boost to max.

Audiophiles will notice some compromises in the midrange and higher frequencies, but, once again, the speakers perform well at the price point, and I think most users will be satisfied with the sound quality of the system.

One of the standout features is the wireless control knob which really increases the versatility of this system. Although marketed primarily as a computer speaker system, the additional inputs would also allow it to be used a a mini-home theatre system and controlled from the couch.

The controller works well, with satisfying tactile feedback for adjusting the volume and useful click gestures for controlling audio. Sound performance was well-balanced for movies, with clear dialogue amid sound effects, with the latter often coming off as overwhelming in action films.

Although this comes down to personal taste, there’s nothing particularly noteworthy about the design of speakers. They are rounded, but they still look and feel big and boxy to me and clash with the modern aesthetic of my thin bordered monitor.

Additionally, the down firing subwoofer is exposed and close to the bottom of the box (not a problem once it’s in position), but I did accidentally put my fingers on the cone when I went to move it. The only minor issue I encountered was when I plugged the system into my power strip (along with my monitor, computer, and USB hub), the subwoofer kept cracking/popping during audio playback.

A Google search led me to believe this was some kind of electrical interference. I then switch the subwoofer plug to an outlet by itself, and it resolved the problem.

Speakers work fairly well for their price point though the audio tends to be on the muffled end for deeper-sounding audio. Only complaint I have is that sometimes when there is audio from multiple programs at once, it seems like the speakers don’t know which program’s to prioritize.

What happens next is that they will momentarily blank out for a few seconds, causing no audio to come through. So far this issue has only occurred when I plug the speakers in with the cable, I am not sure if this also happens through Bluetooth.

Nevertheless it’s a bit annoying of an issue when I am gaming and talking on Discord at the same time. I also use these for remote work and they do their job well.

I’ve been a life long Logitech fan and user and always enjoyed their products, but this disappointed me. The sound range is not that great, I was expecting more bass from speakers of this size. I’ve certainly heard speakers that are smaller than this but give out a lot more bass.

So in that regard these are only marginally better than built in laptop speakers. But the thing about these speakers that annoys me the most is how they just shut down whenever you’re playing anything quiet.

There seems to be certain loudness threshold embedded into these and if the audio coming through the stereo cable isn’t loud enough then the speakers just mute themselves. Super annoying, I’ve had them going totally silent on me during short pauses in music.

When I went to microcenter, I asked an employee which speakers they recommended that wouldn’t break the bank. When he pulled out these I was a little hesitant but he said that these speakers outdo all the $120 price range, and I don’t have those speakers to compare it to, but yeah these are solid speakers! They give great sound and I never have to turn them all the way up.

I do video production so audio is pretty important, and I don’t always want to use my headphones. They aren’t the most aesthetic but they definitely get the job done! If you need budget speakers, these absolutely are the way to go!.

I purchases these speakers because the price looked reasonable and the speakers looked compact. I thought it would be a good way to use with my ZOOM conferences, to avoid the need to wear a headset. The speakers were bigger than I thought and somewhat clunky.

They are not “compact” in my opinion. If you think you are buying two little speakers that won’t take up “valuable desk space” as the ad claims, then don’t buy this pair. The speakers did not come with ANY ENGLISH user manual or installation instructions.

There was a multi-language World-Wide warranty, and that was all. This is the second time in 2 weeks I picked up an order from Cambridge Micro center where NO USER docs were provided. The single PC audio cable was also not correctly color coded at all.

It should have been pink to help me figure out which audio port to plug it in, since the product did NOT come with a user guide. Now here’s the secondary problem. My PC does not recognize the existence of these speakers as an additional audio device.

I use Windows 10 on HP Slimline which I bought from Microcenter. I am not sure what the issue is, or whether I need to download a driver. Since there are no instructions, I lost faith in my ability to work around this.

Downloading drivers by oneself is risky without the appropriate instructions to check the right version of software to use. At first, the speakers did nothing and no sound came out. (Yes folks! I did remember to turn them on and to max the volume control!).

After plugging it in and out several times, the sound finally came out, but my PC still doesn’t know these speakers exist then they are attached to it, so I cant use Control Panel to manage or control or configure additional features or options.

Once the sound was coming through, the sound was good. Music coming out of Youtube was clear and in good, nice stereo. The music remained well balanced in low and high volume settings. But here was the other gotcha.

My previous headset was also my microphone. Guess what? When the Creative Labs Pebble V2 Stereo USB Speakers are plugged in, my mike doesn’t work (Yes, folks, I did remember to plug my headset/mike combo into the GREEN port so the mike function was connected! Now, the mike won’t work with the Creative Labs Pebble V2 Stereo USB Speakers.

When I unplug the speakers, my headset and mike work, when I plug the speakers back in, my headset is entirely non functional. So here we have a audio product that won’t let me share my PC with other audio products.

So, I cannot use my existing reliable mike unless I abandon the use of the Creative Labs Pebble V2 Stereo USB Speakers. Therefore, I am sorry, I will have to return this product. Maybe others will have better luck, or are able to read the Chinese (or Japanese, or Korean) instruction sheet.

I didn’t bother to look for the user manual on line, because that’s a waste of my printer ink and paper. I was expecting Microcenter to check the integrity of this speaker set together with its appropriate packaging.

As I said, this is second time this has happened. Maybei should have gone to Amazon. Here, I wanted a change and to give my local Cambridge, MA Micro Center some business instead of to Amazon. But maybe I made a mistake.

This was bought as a quick fix to hold me over till I get a better sound system. So these are good, sound really great for the cost and size, there is some level of bass on these despite the sound, but its not earth shaking or solid.

Bass sounds a bit shallow. The cables are long and are hard wired to the speakers, bare that in mind if you expect something super clean and more manageable with your set up. Otherwise I think for anyone who wants cheap easy to plug into a computer setup with no frills or thrills, these will work just fine.

I’m pretty happy with these speakers. Only reason I don’t give them 5 stars is because I have a pretty specific purpose for them and I don’t exactly push them for the sound quality. I purchased these for my online classes in my grad school program (Thanks, Covid) so I could listen to classes without having my clunky gaming headphones on and possibly do workouts while listening to lectures.

For that end, they work great. No complaints about sound quality with Zoom meetings and lectures. I haven’t listened to much music with them or played much in the way of computer games with them (save for Valheim), but I purchased them for video conferencing and they fulfill that purpose wonderfully.

What little gaming and music I do use them for (mostly smooth listening to help me concentrate when studying), the speakers work great for that as well. I can’t exactly crank up Heavy Metal or an ultra-violent war game with these because of the proximity my office has to my kid’s room, but I got the gaming headphones for that anyway.

Finally, they don’t take up much desk space and the volume gets loud enough that I can hear when I’m riding my stationary bike without issue. So if you’re looking for something with a low footprint on your desk and decent sound quality for Zoom or other video conferencing software, these’ll work great.

If you want to get something of the highest audio quality to listen to music or game like you’re inside an IMAX theater, you’re going to have to ask someone else’s opinion.

You never know what you’re committing to when speakers costs $40. You expect problems, diminished sound quality, but you deal with it because it could’ve cost you much more than it does. In the case of the Pebble V3, however, that is not the case! They have excellent sound quality – balanced and great for streaming.

They get pretty loud as well without breaking up the sound. They’re small and visually appealing. Very much worth the price and more. Save the money and invest it on better monitors or processing power.

My wife needed new PC speakers, and wanted them to match her white keyboard. Based on images on the website, I thought these would be smaller than they are. They’re a decent size and produce quality sound.

Pairing these with a small subwoofer really makes them pop, as their bass isn’t very punchy. Bluetooth is just a bonus, and switching from PC sound to bluetooth is literlaly just a button press. They’re exactly what we were looking for in PC speakers.

Nice value for the money. The sound is okay, and the subwoofer helps round it out a bit. These speakers are nothing exceptional in terms of high quality sound or output, but for my small home office, I don’t need high output.

For the price, I really can’t complain about the sound quality. They do the job well enough. I was disappointed to discover that an standard headphone jack was still needed for sound to be played through the speakers.

The product description did not make this clear so I bought for a computer that did not have a functioning soundcard. Still found a way to make it work, but it proved to be a lot more hassle. So just to clarify what the description did not, YOU WILL NEED BOTH A HEADPHONE OUTPUT FOR SOUND AND A USB PORT FOR POWER FOR THESE SPEAKERS TO WORK.

Excellent for budget gaming and small spaces. The subwoofer is weak, tiny, and weighs maybe 2lbs but it is perfect to add just enough extra oomph to the speakers giving them extra depth. Don’t expect any thumping unless you really crank it up.

The speakers are very well made and feel solid because of its wide base. Won’t tip over like some other taller speakers which I had a big problem before. The high and low gain switch is a nice touch.

Also keep in mind that if you plug the USB into a 2. 1a USB wall plug or USB 3. 0 it will double the power output to 16w in total. The wires can be a bit longer but it’s actually much better(long enough)than some I’ve encountered before.

The mids and highs are great. It just lacks some bass but what can you expect from a USB powered speaker set. This is my 3rd set of Creative speakers. Both previous models lasted about 5-6 years each.

But with a ton of consistent usage. Keep in mind both of them were entry level 2. 1 speakers as well. It’s usually one of the speakers that blow out. I’m satisfied. Looks good, sounds great, cheap, and small.

If your computer doesn’t come with a speaker system (as with a Mac mini, or a standard desktop PC) these are a solid choice for ~$40. They offer pleasing-enough sound for listening to music as you’re working at the computer, or if you just want some music in the room.

But make no mistake: These are clearly computer speakers. The system doesn’t sound big, and volume is only moderate, even if you plug the system’s USB connector into a USB power supply (which you must provide).

The system’s USB connector is only for power, so you can also plug it into your computer. But if you do that, you don’t get the greater volume or richer sound that you get with the extra power of a USB power supply.

The subwoofer does help add some oomph, but it can also sometimes be a bit boomy. A subwoofer volume control would have been helpful. But again: $40. For that price, it’s a decent buy.

First off, I need to explain that the primary reason I bought these is for music production and editing. Not gaming or movie watching. I also do almost all of my “fine tuning” with Sennheiser HD 25’s.

That said, It’s more than adequate for my purposes in that after I do my production and editing, I can get a good feel for what the public will hear when I do my DJ gigs by playing the tracks on these speakers.

The biggest reason I like these is because of the way the control module is set up. All my IO jacks are in the back of an IP rack mount computer. It’s a long way back there and a real pain to access This control module allows me hands on adjustment at the front of the computer with a headphone jack.

In other words, I no longer have to stretch my headphone cable to the back of the computer, and I can control everything by hand adjustment or remote control. To me, sound quality is like spaghetti sauce or pizza.

What tastes great to one person may only be average to another. The sub woofer is more than capable of reproducing deep bass with a good quality sound. Likewise, the 5 other speakers (left and right rear, left and right front, and center) put out a surprisingly good mid and high end sound.

Are they (fill in your personal all time favorite best sounding speakers)? Probably not. I will, however tell you unequivocally that I got a better than average set of speakers at a fair price. Although social media seemed to be all abuzz about these being “all that”, I’d say they’re “almost all that”.

To REALLY get “all that” would cost me thousands! Happy listening!.

I bought a set of these on Amazon and they worked for a while and then 1 speaker stopped producing sound. I filed a warranty claim and I specifically asked for 1 speaker wire because that seemed like the only thing that could be wrong (after swapping the “dead” speaker to other wires).

Instead these guys sent me an entire speaker set. I was like uhm, OK. Anyway, I took a speaker wire out of the new box and got my first set up and running. With a rock solid warranty system like that I went on to buy more Logitech stuff– a mouse, keyboard, and 2 headsets.

The keyboard (G815) ended up having several keys randomly stop working and I filed a warranty claim for that and that was also replaced with a new one. I think one of my headphones is starting to go bad on me, but that may be outside of the warranty window so who knows there.

I really like the design of Logitech’s stuff but it’s kind of frustrating how the build quality or QC seems to be so poor. With half of the stuff I’ve bought from them developing problems I’d have no choice but to give them poor stars, but the warranty has bailed them out each time.

So I guess my message here is maybe don’t expect to find a product that will last a long, long time but with the warranty that’s in place you should be able to get at least 2-3 years out of whatever you buy.

My old Z506 speakers finally died after about a decade of constant use. These are SO costly and don’t seem to benefit from a separate tweeter. I tried Klipsch ProMedia 2. 1 and while they sound great for gaming and video they really need a center channel.

These sound fantastic. In fact, almost transparent. I hoped more applications would support Dolby Digital or Dolby Live but Win 10 and 11 abandoned this. I use both the optical connection and the regular (color coded pc jacks).

They sound identical but the Optical will send uncompressed audio from DVD’s and. mkv video files and the light will show it is decoding the stream. Otherwise unless you use a very old Realtek driver or have a Soundblaster Z soundcard you will have to live with “3D audio” which is still pretty great.

As far as far as gaming goes the positional audio is great even without paying for a Dolby codec. Are they worth almost $400?? Well they don’t sound much better than the $100-$150 Z506. You do get a decoder and a digital input as well as multiple inputs, so if money is no object this is the way to go.

I had the smallest Logitech speakers (10 watts) and they lasted for several years. Finally a wire frayed and, while I jimmied it and made it work for a few more years, the wire frayed beyond the “jimmying” point.

They were good but I’m hard of hearing and wanted new speakers so I thought I’ll by these (50 watts) speakers. I based this decision on the fact that the old speakers lasted a long time and sounded good as well.

but were not very loud. So far after a month or two they have given me a good performance with very good sound with no distortion. The price was very good and the speakers look nice and I’m satisfied.

The check out clerk said he had a set of these 50 watt speakers and entertained his party guests with these speakers. I probably should have bought these the first time years ago.

First off, I just paid $40 for these are Walmart (instore). With that in mind, the bass is okay; not a monster sub woofer but gets the job done for my purposes. My man cave is my shed so it’s probably 15×15 space.

Speakers are loud and clear; more than enough for this small space. They’re loud enough that I don’t have to turn it up to 100%, but I did test it maxed out and was still crisp sound without any buzz/crackling.

Overall, great system for the low price; didn’t have to pay $100-200 so that’s a win. If they break, I’ll come back and update, but until then, was a good deal for what I got. Previously I was just using my headset for my computer so I’m not comparing it to anything better/worse that I had previously.

Almost 20 years ago I bought a Logitech system for $70ish, was surround sound and lasted me for well over 10 years; this system is definitely not that, but again, no point comparing it.

One of the speakers stopped working less than a month after I started using these. Unfortunately when I bought them they sat in the box for like a month before I finally opened it and started using them.

So when the speaker broke, even though I’d only been using these speakers for a few weeks, it was past the 30 day return window. Never buying logitech speakers again. I replaced these with a more expensive brand.

It’s a shame I’ve been using logitech speakers for years and used to get at lest a few years of life out of them. These speakers also don’t have a volume control knob for the sub, which makes the bass way too loud (Don’t know why, older logitech speakers had this feature).

So I didn’t even like them when they worked.

Logitech S-120 speakers. Drivers for my $150. 00 computer speakers got corrupted & I could not get the drivers right so I replaced them with Logitech S120 USB speakers. Great speakers, good sound, inexpensive, super easy set up–just plug them into a USB port–but because they are USB powered they are not loud enough for about 5 percent of my Netflix movies.

I wanted speakers that would get just a “little” louder. I replaced the S150 with the S120 speakers. They look the same & are very close to the same size. The major difference is that the S120 has a power cord for external power and for a sound source they plug into the green audio jack found on the back of most computers.

(A lot of ads are not clear that the S120 speakers are electrically powered and plug into a wall socket or power strip just like an iron or a hairdryer or a toaster. That external power source means that the S120 can get louder than the S150.

) You might put a tape measure to the S120 vs the S150 and find that some dimension is minimally different but if you put them footprint to footprint (what sits on the desk) together in comparison, the S120’s footprint is actually minimally smaller than the S150.

I am not looking for an operatic audiophile experience that will fill the whole house–I just want good sounding speakers for playing movies or doing training films, etc on my computer. For me the Logitech S120 speakers do everything that I want them to do plus they are inexpensive, easy to set up, small in size, have good sound and volume that can be just a little higher than the S150 and they are decent looking speakers.

I recommend the S120 for anyone who needs good sound and a little more volume than would come from most USB speakers.

Sound quality is reasonable-plus for the price and size. There are some unpleasant idiosyncrasies. I suppose they saved a nickel by hardwiring the 2 speakers together, rather than install jacks for an audio or RCA cable.

Wish they hadn’t gone that route. Rather than pass a cable thru your shelving, furniture, or cable management, you’ll transport the entire speaker (roughly 6. 25 x 2. 5 x 2 inches) within the limit of the wire used (roughly 6 ft.

) And with no balance control (I didn’t really expect one), speaker placement is more crucial. Nice that there’s no power brick, but surprise. the lamp cord to the electric plug is attached to the left speaker, not the right-hand one where the controls are.

Plan placement accordingly. And the left-hand speaker is so lightweight, the drag from the 18 AWG electric cord tends to jostle it. (I solved that with some dressmaker’s hem weights [lead disks] fastened near the speaker’s base.

) In short, it’s not ideal, but worth the cost. Recommended.

I picked this set up to improve the sound from my laptop without taking up too much desk space. For their size, they output a lot more bass than one would expect from such a small speaker with only minimal distortion if you don’t turn the volume up too far while still outputting more than adequate loudness when used up close.

At about 18 inches away expect approximately 70-80db of sound pressure(loud enough to potentially cause hearing damage for extended listening periods) before distortion becomes an issue. You can get them a little louder if you can reduce the bass level from the music source.

I used a tone generator to test frequency reproduction. They go down to about 40-60hz before becoming too quiet to be usable. Peak bass output seems to be around 100hz which is good enough for a gentle thump from bass percussion.

The speakers do respond to the lower frequencies but pump more air out the bass ports in the back of the speaker than they do sound. The upper end appears to be ~14,500hz which is at the threshold of most persons ability to hear not to mention quite piercing.

Keep in mind these are primarily personal speakers not room rockers and you won’t be disappointed especially for the price! For those who claim these are too quiet, consider the audio source especially if coming from a cell phone.

The internal amp can only compensate so much for low headphone jack voltage output.

This was my fourth Bose purchase, with two of those being gifts for others. The sound quality is AMAZING in this tiny speaker. I loved cruising along on my bike listening to music, taking it to the beach, etc.

However the strap on this speaker needs to be redesigned. The first two days I used it, it detached several times — from my backpack strap, my purse strap, and my bike basket handle. I reasoned that it needed to be fastened around something thicker to put more tension on the quick-release strap.

So after putting it onto a part of my bike with approx. 1/2” diameter and going over a minor bump on the paved path, it popped off and I ran over it with my bike tire. That pulled the skin away from the back on one corner, breaking the waterproof and dust-proof seal.

It also scraped through the skin on the front. While the accident didn’t affect the sound, it would affect the water- and sand/dust-proof capability. Since I live at the beach, I returned it for a refund.

My advice to Bose is to redesign the strap closure so it will stay closed through bounces that are normal during the types of activities shown on their website. It’s too “quick release”. I’ll purchase it again if the strap closure were redesigned, or if a grommet or hook were added so it could be attached to things with a carabiner.

I discovered this beauty from a friend’s friend at an out-of-town gathering. We kept music going, for a long time, in a large room at medium-high volume and it had no problem. I was so impressed that I had to get one myself.

It under-promises and over-delivers. Do not expect crazy quality but definitely punches above its weight class. Perhaps the nicest attribute is that when you turn it on, it connects to my iPhone flawlessly 100% of the time.

That dependability made me buy one for my octogenarian mother, which she uses it to listen to talk radio daily, giving her high-fidelity internet streaming vs low-fidelity AM radio. She has been using it for 2 years with zero issues.

When the weather is nice, I can sit in my townhouse 15×15 foot atrium, turn on the fire pit, and have this guy knock out some tunes. Rental car with no Bluetooth? Use this. Hotel room? Use this. Poolside? Use this.

Glamour camping? Use this. My advice: wait for the BB holiday sale, buy two. Experience it for yourself, and after being impressed, give the second as a gift.

At first, I thought, “why would I buy a rugged bluetooth speaker from Bose for £100, when there are so many other, cheaper competitors which come well acclaimed by many, can it be that much better?”.

I have had this speaker a few years now and I have only positive things to say. It is an ultimate example of you get what you pay for, I have paid more for a speaker of a different brand, that is larger and supposedly has more bass etc etc, for its size this beats it in every way.

Connecting is so easy and with the Bose connect app you can remove those annoying voice prompts. The next time you have your devices bluetooth turned on, and you turn on the speaker, it connects instantly, faster and more reliably than any other bluetooth device I have owned.

It also has bluetooth low energy which is incredible, it means that even whilst turned off, you can connect and switch it on via your device. This means you can come home, take off your headphones, and continue listening through your SoundLink Micro without having to even interact with the speaker, giving it the “always available” feeling you would get from a Wi-Fi based home speaker system.

I thought this was great but was sceptical of how it might affect battery life if the bluetooth low energy is always available, even when off, but it doesn’t affect it in any perceivable way. The battery life is incredible, again, I can’t explain how the amount of features, usability, battery life, and volume, don’t seem like they should be able to come from such a SMALL device.

The battery specs say 6 hours but honestly I’m sure I get more than that even today and I have used it for easily over a thousand hours over its life. The volume goes above and beyond the level you might need for a shower or companion music to an outdoors activity, cycling, hiking, etc.

It might not be absolutely enough punch to fill a house for a house party but it absolutely will fill a room or even two with enough loudness and enough bass to not be harsh to the ear, like you expect small speakers to be.

The rugged construction is again surpassing of anything you could expect, the similar speaker of another brand I had in the past, was supposedly a speaker for pool parties, the beach etc, and one dunk in water and it was never the same.

This speaker from Bose however, has fallen in the shower many times, it has also made trips bouncing all the way down a flight of stairs, with no breaks and the music not even faltering. The bluetooth connection is superb, it allows playback through two walls or for example in a house with two levels you can be upstairs and on the other side of the house and it still play perfectly.

I could go on and on but rest assured I don’t believe it possible for anyone to regret this purchase. I listen to music most of my day and I am also a tech person who has tried many bluetooth audio devices and this is not only the best bluetooth speakers of its class but also one of the most reliable pieces of technology I own, and best purchases I have ever made.

I came back to the Bose website just to write this long review after 2 years because that is how much I enjoy this product, and I want to encourage the company to keep quality to this standard always.

That should tell you enough about the product on its own.

I’d been using the same old speakers for many years even after one of them would only function when it seemed to be in the mood and I finally got around to replacing them. I had been a customer of Logitech products in the past and so when I saw these I felt I could count on the brand.

Remarkably, though half the size of my old speakers, they have better clarity, sound quality and bass than even when the old ones were working properly. Furthermore the flared base makes it so that they aren’t easily knocked over despite being very lightweight.

It was simple to hook them up, just plug and play, so that was a welcome relief. There were only two real detractors to this product. First is that the cord to plug it into your tower is rather short but for laptops or tablets it’d be more than enough.

Second is that I can’t see myself blaring music on these, so I’ll simply enjoy the “luxury” of hearing music in stereo again. Unlike the Logitech products I obtained in years past these were manufactured in China thus it’s a reasonable guess that were I to press them hard their lifespan would be considerably shortened.

Still, for the price paid, it should’ve been fairly obvious in retrospect. If there was one thing I would like to see implemented by Walmart’s online store in the future it would be a notation that indicates where products are manufactured.

I purchased these LOGITECH Z130 speakers for a portable playback of recordings taken with my new Olympus on camera audio recorder. The results were outstanding so I tried loading MP3 Christmas music into the recorder for music playback.

The music playback exceeded my expectations. Voices are crisp. Instruments are clear. Overall tone is mellow with enough bass. Volume, with the source volume at it’s mid point and the speaker also at mid point is perfect for background music in a 900 sq ft office / workshop.

Finally, the build quality, fit finish, appear to be excellent. These are much better than the older computer speakers that I have used over the years.

If you are looking for 4. 1 Dolby surround for a home theatre or extreme gaming, keep looking; this is not what you are looking for. However, if you are looking for a good pair of amplified speakers at a budget price these may be just what you want.

10 watts, volume control and headphone jack on the front, long enough cables that you can probably put then where you like. They are set up in a master / slave configuration; that is to say that one speaker has the cable to the computer (or whatever sound source you have), this unit also has the power jack (for the included wall wart), the volume control, headphone jack and internal ampifier.

The other speaker is the slave; it looks the same but only has a speaker in it. Yes it distorts at high volume, no it’s not high fideliity, but for that price, what do you expect? It is what it is, and for what I wanted to do, for the price I wanted to pay, they are an excellent value and I am very happy with this! If you want to upgrade from the standard non-powered speakers that are included with most computers, this is a great first step.

They are a great value for the price and I am happy with them.

I’m on my second set of these. I set up both my personal computer and my work room computer with this 2. 1 set up. I have recommended these to a number of friends who appreciate my speaker building home theater background.

Well, suffice it to say, could not leave well enough alone. I left the newer ones alone, and went to work on the pair I already have. I should have taken photos, just spaced it. I took these apart and replaced the electrolytic capacitor and resistor with Dayton Precision 1% tolerance 4uF audio grade capacitors and audio grade resistors.

I also replaced the iron core inductor with an air core inductor. I lined the little plastic enclosures with 50mil Siles vibration dampening material wherever I could stick it on. I doubled the stuffing, reassembled them and took them for a test drive.

After several days of burn in I can tell you that I could hear them actually getting better and better each day. They were getting a little clearer, warmer and they definitely now have much more “sparkle” to them.

They most assuredly have a more precise tone that is slightly more forward and a much better imaged presentation. I know, seems silly to do but hey, if you have the parts, why not? I’m glad I did as they truly sound a lot better even though I didn’t think that they needed improvement, this little upgrade really made them shine!!! Did it all for about $25.

00 dollars and an hour of my time. Now looking for the older but more “stylish” GMX pods to play with! With or without the upgrade, they rock!.

No question that the sound is super clear and vibrant. This depends largely on the quality of your OWN media. Ie: Apple Music sounds better than some YouTube music because of streaming quality. If you’re doing high quality flac or lossless the depth is amazing… can hear all the different layers of sounds.

You have to click one of the knobs inward in order to switch selection between Bluetooth and aux. A different reviewer claimed random people were connecting to his, but mine only allows 1 Bluetooth connection at a time which I actually prefer and won’t allow interference from a 2nd device even when it’s me trying to do it.

The fatal flaw of this set is that you have to physically unplug them from the wall or surge protector to turn off. There is literally no dedicated power switch, or way to shut the light off. Reading through the manual only suggests to unplug when not in use for lengthy periods of time.

These speakers get loud, but again different file formats or streaming qualities vastly change your experience. The subwoofer never needs to be pushed more than a quarter to half capacity. There is a sweet spot where it sounds best and sounds balanced.

Overall I give this set 11/10 for sound quality. They don’t wash out or drown the quality at higher volume, nor do they cap the volume during high bass like pretty much all BOSE products do.

This small single speaker has clearer sound and better volume than many dual speakers. It is,something I hoped for,but not expecting. I am happy,and grateful for this technology at this price. I can now hear dialogue,and clearly,on my PC,that,s what I needed.

However,believe it or not,the music sounds GOOD. Gracias Logitech. I have found you to be a superior company,but this puts you over the top for me.

Awesome sound. Amplifies sound from laptop. Using for Zoom and it increases the sound so much, I can hear the other person on the call turning pages!! Works with Windows 7. Will work with older phones that have a phone jack, but you’ll need an adapter for use with newer iPhones.

It comes with its own power cord. Excellent!.

What can I say, this is seriously the best Speakers I have ever bought, the speakers are barely on medium level an you can feel how strong this is, if you need a cheaper something quick speakers these NEED to be on the top of your list! I wish I bought it sooner it’s really great sound quality is perfect, level is great, zoom meetings or any meetings sounds we’re perfect.

This is my third speaker product from Edifier. I consider myself to be an audio enthusiast. All of the edifier products punch well above their price point and this set is no different. Very nice, balanced and accurate sound.

These are perfect for any desk where you just want a good yet inexpensive speaker set.

-They aren’t going to blow you away or anything like that, but they will give you better sound than any other speakers in this price range. -USB DAC -Warm sound, so voices sound great. Decently loud considering powered by USB.

I bought these for my daughter’s computer. I have used Monoprice cables in my recording studio. They are better quality than other brands and yet cost about 1/4 the price. So I suspected these speakers would be excellent.

I was spot on. They sound great! Mids and highs are crystal clear. As soon as we hooked it up to the computer and did a speaker check, I knew they were good. For fun, we put on the opening scene of Star Wars and we could hear R2-D2’s digital blips very clearly.

No noise on standby. These speakers are fairly heavy and feel professional. I actually think they do not color the sound much. I am a professional music producer in Los Angeles. Now that I have heard these, I am going to buy a 2nd pair for my recording studio to test my masters (in addition to using my professional near-field reference monitors).

I like the small size and mono-amp configuration, which makes them perfect for testing – as most people these days listen to music on mono-amp small speakers (on their smart phones).

These are part of a mini stereo system my son put together for his dorm room. It basically consists of a relatively high-end turntable and these speakers. So far the sound is impressive from a small set of speakers.

There is plenty of power to fill a small room and the bass was suprisingly strong. One thing that impressed me was the number of connection options – Bluetooth, traditional speaker wire, RCA plugs, amd TRS.

Great clarity and should serve his needs well for years to come.

I needed a pair of digital speakers that were powered by USB and connected by USB. So, I found these on Office Depot’s web site and ordered them. As far as I can tell, they’re pretty good speakers for what appear to be an older model.

The box says “Vista ready” so they must be fairly older. The volume is softer than the analog speakers I used to use, but that’s the only drawback I can see to these units. Now, I did have an initial problem getting them to work.

After connecting them, Windows detected them and set them up, but they were not showing up and I was getting no sound, system wide. However, I just disconnected the USB cable and reconnected it; the speakers started working normally then.

So, you may need to do that initially to get these speakers to work. All in all, I’m satisfied with these. They fit the need I had for new speakers and for USB powered and connected devices. I am satisfied with the sound output and I bought a second set to have on hand for when these fail.

The speakers are nicely made and have great sound. For the price they are impossible to beat. They are not house shakers by any stretch of the imagination but are very good at low to moderate levels in am office home/office environment.

A USB A port on you computer is all that’s needed. If you have a USB C only you’d need an adapter that would cost more than the speakers. Look elsewhere if that’s the case.

Ordered as a quick-fix for display-audio which disappeared during an update. The speakers are so unobtrusive and the sound so much improved that I have ordered four pairs in all, to replace all display audio output on office PCs.

Granted, I am using these in a casual application, just office work, collaborative meetings, background music, but for such uses these are nearly perfect. The only suggestion I have for 5 stars is to make the speakers separable by a plug-in connector.

I have not used the three control buttons at all – just plugged them in and worked fine!.

The Creative Labs Pebble 2 Computer Stereo Speakers require two ports on one’s laptop for connectivity: an audio-out headphone jack for the sound AND a spare USB port to enable the laptop to power the speakers because they do not have a separate power supply.

Since these speakers are not separately powered they have a limited volume level that may not be as loud in some circumstances as one would prefer. An On/Off / Volume knob controls the volume that, more often than not, is kept at the max level for sufficient sound.

For the low price and limited power these speakers are surprisingly accurate sounding and have a fuller-than-expected sound. It may be possible to obtain louder volumes if the USB connector is plugged into a separately powered USB router.

All said, these speakers are a great value.

I needed a new speaker for my computer. The old one had started humming all day long. Turns out some wires were broken. And I found a good deal at Amazon. Amazon gave me many choices, from $20 to over $50 and the best one was around $39 with Bluetooth and “HEAR EVERY WORD WITH CLEAR DIALOG AUDIO PROCESSING.

” WOW. What a great deal from Amazon. But how about Walmart? Could they be even less expensive? And I go to Walmart and since I need another grocery order soon I buy there. And the price is around $29.

But they do not have all the choices Amazon did. I think this has got to be the Amazon $39 speaker. And I ordered it. And it arrived. But the package said AMAZON! How can that be? It be. It came from “Creative Labs Creative Pebble Modern 2.

0 USB Speaker. ” It is the “$20 that was a choice on Amazon. I think. Not many markings on the speakers to let me know which version they are. Shopped Amazon, bought from Walmart and delivered saying “Amazon” on the package.

I rarely buy two of a thing, but I’ll be coming back for another of these! My partner and I don’t need more than 2. 0 for our home office spaces, and we don’t want speakers that take up a lot of space.

These fit nicely on our desks and are not a distraction. The wires aren’t a problem for us. We tested these with The Beatles’ “Eleanor Rigby” (the recording with vocals on the right channel and string octet mixed on another separate channel), overlapping dialog scenes from MASH, and some shows with scenes where dialog, action SFX, and epic orchestral score are present.

The speakers performed well on all of these. We could clearly hear vocals/dialog and still enjoy the depth of the music. The sound travels well, so there’s little need to blast at high volume. Obviously, if you’re looking for an immersive surround sound experience, or the Perfect Hi-Fidelity Audio, then these aren’t the speakers to give you that.

What these give you is a significant improvement in sound over laptop or monitor speakers, without take up a lot of space.

We needed to provide a sound system for the wedding reception dinner to announce the wedding party, play some dinner music and music for the traditional dances. It needed to simple to operate and setup and very compact because of space limitation.

This nailed it. We ran the play list from a phone, connected a mike to announce the wedding party (with background music still playing) and loud enough for some dancing. We had a full DJ sound system and dance floor in another area of the venue for some really loud thumping music later that this one speaker could not accomplish, but it sure worked well for dinner.

When you look at the size of this powered speaker, it looks impressive. However, when you power it on, you realize the low price equals low quality. At just over the halfway mark, the volume distorts and the clipping light flashes.

The maximum size USB drive that can be used for prerecorded music is 32 GB. The mp3 function works well using a USB thumb drive. You can play files in order or random, but the random function only plays a handful of songs over and over and not all the files on the thumb drive.

I have not tried the Bluetooth feature, so I cannot comment on that. For its size, the speaker should be louder and pack more bass before clipping.

Well, I put this single unit to the test within the past two weeks. I covered a bingo fundraiser consisting of 130 women in a 50 x 110 gym with a cathedral ceiling. This unit has the power but trying to achieve more volume on the higher end was a challenge.

Low end is not a problem. I did achieve the sound I needed though. As with any speaker setup be sure you are distanced behind the speaker with your microphone. This unit is very sensitive to feedback if to close.

Bluetooth works as described. This unit is well built. My recommendation would be any indoor venue larger than what I have mentioned, would be to add a second speaker and include some speaker stands to go with them.

Great service from a great supplier.

I was looking for something semi-portable that could be powered from a usb port. These are native USB-C but come with an adapter if you need usb-A. They sound better than I was expecting and for the price, this is a pleasant surprise.

There is more bass than I expected, but it is still recessed. The upper midrange and the treble is pretty good for a cheap pair of speakers. The treble is quite bright. They get quite loud, but I am using usb-c so I think the power level is higher than with usb-a.

There is also bluetooth and an auxiliary input on the back. Compared with something like the bose companion 2 III’s, these are more detailed in the upper midrange and treble, but worse in the bass ranges.

These Pebble speakers were exactly what I needed. The sound is surprisingly rich, full, and relatively loud for the little speakers. There’s also minimal distortion at low to moderately high volumes.

At max volume, the speakers act as expected and induce a grimace. The bass isn’t chest pounding, but audible and discernable and are well balanced at moderate levels, and sound much better than some of the 2.

1 systems with subwoofers that I listed to prior to buying these. For reference, I have a JBL Flip bluetooth portable speaker, and these Pebble speakers sound about the same as those.

I think this is a great speaker overall, in terms of portability, sound, and value. I have bought about 8 Sonos speakers in the last 2 years – including One’s, 2 Beams, 2 Play:3 (now discontinued). The Move is an interesting device because it can effectively replace the One’s or Play:3 – I think it actually sounds better than either of these devices: Louder, more room-filling, with richer bass.

Of course, a single Move can’t replace a surround sound setup (I have a Beam plus 2 One’s in my living room); but if you have a whole home setup, you won’t really notice the difference with a Move being the main speaker in a secondary room.

The portability aspect of it basically allows you to have 1 device for 2 different areas in the home – the permanent dock serves the room where you use it the most, but you can still carry the Move into a sporadic-use area (like the backyard or bathroom) whenever you’d like.

So even at its inflated price point of $399, I would still consider it a better value than buying 2 One’s – you’re getting better sound plus portability (which you wouldn’t get by purchasing 2 standalone One’s).

I actually bought my Move during Sonos’ 20% off summer sale, which makes this an easy purchase. If you’re just starting out with the Sonos system, really think about how you’d use the speakers, how you would setup in the home, and strongly consider this device vs getting multiple One’s – I think you might be surprised by the versatility of the Move.

We’ve been using a 1st Gen Echo ever since it came out. I found a charging base for it, which made it portable for our outdoor patio, but over the years, the sound has diminished greatly (and in reality, the sound was never something I applauded).

I have 2 other Echo speakers with screens, which I enjoy, but they are not portable and have to be plugged in at all times. It got to a point where I began researching new options, realizing we needed something new, and definitely something portable.

It really came down to a BOSE unit and the SONOS Move. When I saw them both side by side, I was a little surprised how small the BOSE speaker was. When I compared the sound, the choice was pretty clear for me – SONOS Move was going to be my new baby, and purchased it, wrapped it up, put it under the tree, and addressed it to “the house”, from Santa.

My wife was not initially very happy, even though she was the one who continuously said we needed something new for music. Even when I unboxed it, she was mostly concerned with how much “Santa” spent on it.

Well, let’s just say that once I played some tunes, her thoughts changed, and the more we play it, the more she’s impressed. For me, it’s nothing short of awesome. I haven’t had a sound system in the last 15 years (other than sound bars for the TV’s) and I must have forgotten how good music can sound.

The deep, rich bass, the solid mid range, and of course, the high end treble. But it’s much more, really, as I now pick up things I haven’t heard in so many years. Different instruments, sounds, clarity.

Overall richness. It’s just great. I love the simple yet oh so effective charging system. So easy to pick it up and bring it outside, then drop it back down on the charging ring. Absolutely love it. The Move is obviously a little big and heavy to bring on trips that require a flight, but when we drive somewhere, it’s coming along for the ride.

Love the fact that I have both wifi and Bluetooth. Very impressed.

If you are already invested into the Sonos ecosystem, this speaker is a no brainer. I’ve owned many of the JBL portable speakers over the years and was hesitant to spend this much on a portable speaker.

However, it’s Sonos and they are known for superior sound quality and functionality. Once the speakers was delivered and tested, I had no problem with how expensive it was. Pros: The battery life is fantastic.

I’m getting over 10 hours between charges. The bass is very impressive for a speaker of its size. The mids and highs are just right. You also can adjust all of the EQ settings as well as automatic trueplay in the app just like their other speakers.

Just like their other speakers, when at home on wifi, you can sync it to your other Sonos speakers. Take this speaker outside in the backyard and keep your whole home audio synced up. It also has Bluetooth so you can still connect to it via Bluetooth when taking it with you away from home.

It also has Alexa, Google Home and the new Sonos Voice features. These work flawlessly. Charging was well thought out. It comes with a ring stand with plug that it sits on when not carrying around. It stays on like all other Sonos speakers when on the ring.

When off the ring, it will power itself off after about 15 mins of no audio playing to conserve battery power. If you are away, it has a USB C port that you can use to charge it or leave plugged in when away from the ring base when needed.

Cons: At this point, I’ve yet to come across a single con. If I had to nit pick about anything, I would say that the wire from the base to the plug isn’t removable so if the wire were to break for whatever reason, the whole base needs to be replaced.

I say this is minor because technically, the base isn’t necessary for charging since there is also a USB C port as an option as well. Over all, if anything ever happened to this speaker, I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase it again unless they release a new version of it by that time.

The sound is just crazy good as is most of Sonos speakers. If you’re on the fence, don’t be. You will not be disappointed in it.
