Perfect add storage for my PS4 Pro. Quiet, compact and extremely easy to format/mate with Playstation. Console settings allows me to download games onto the drive so I don’t need to delete and reinstall (free up space) when I want to try new games.

Great price for the amount of storage and Seagate is a very trustworthy and proven player in the external drive market.

This was bought to store my photos and documents and is doing a fine job. I am saving the old photos from compact disks and old secure data cards from old cameras too. My 1 TB laptop was was almost full so this where I moved a lot of files and music, Drag and drop, cut and paste.

Works for me to move files.

Works great with PS4 all you have to do is plug it in then format it for external hd use or if you just want to transfer files or save replays thats an option also, but for me Im just using for external hard drive and its nice to be able to save games Ive downloaded for easy playing versus having to debate which game to delete just to play a new release so I never have to worry about there not being enough space for a new update, so long story short save yourself the headache and buy it already!!!!!!!!.

Just bought my second one for an upcoming ad campaign shoot. I’ll use it to back up everything and be completely assured of speed and reliability. It’s so very fast and so small it’s great for location work.

I brought this for xbox 1 external storage, not going to lie I was concerned that it wouldn’t be compatible, but it is. Dead simple to format to the xbox even I could do it without any instructions or referral to Google! Only issues I have incurred is with my actual box needing a cold reset because Noxi (console nickname) was being obnoxious and not loading up my game library.

I have even added on backwards compatible games too with absolutely zero issues. I am yet to see if I can transfer my games from Noxi onto the Seagate, which can be personally named upto 30 something characters.

It is very hard to fill I’ve so far used 15. 9% of 4TB which is (if I remember correctly) 14 games, this is with 9% being pre used. I would definitely recommend buying this over official xbox Seagates as they appear to do exactly the same thing, only you’ll pay through the nostrils for a coloured xbox one.

Though it’s still a bit early in the drive’s use I’m impressed with the drive, the speed of it, the 4tb. HDD storage space, the installation, the seller and the seller’s customer care re: getting the drive to me prior to the expected delivery date.

The price is right, the drive is quiet, aesthetic, compact and seemingly durable. But then again I’ve only had it for a handful of hours. If anything changes I’ll adjust the comments. P. S. I tried to attach a photo of the drive connected to the laptop while I’m writing this but the phone’s camera just won’t cooperate.

I have a pack of those little, clear glue-on “spacers” so I put one in each of the four corners on the bottom of the drive, raising it off of the desktop about a quarter of an inch rather than leaving it sit wholly on the desktop.

The airflow underneath the enclosed drive after I put the spacers on each of the drives corners seems to have cured the heat problem tremendously. There’s no fan involved, all’s self enclosed in the drive but that little bit of space gained by the spacers seems to have done the trick.

It’s no longer heating up anything like it did shortly after I received it. I run it anywhere from 4-8 or more hours a day and have not had any problems. I’ve transferred my non-critical files to the drive and am even storing photos, running some games and accessing STEAM, ORIGIN, UPLAY/UBISOFT and other sites with little or no lag.

I’m a fan of this drive. It was a great investment from my point of view. I’ll be back another day if anything changes on my end.

My MacBook Pro needed work on the software. Read reviews carefully and chose this external hard drive and downloaded everything exactly as advised (with Mac’s Time Machine). When my Mac was ready I used the HDD to transfer my documents etc back.

and there it was not! The Home Essentials Direct tech expert couldn’t help, but promised to call back the next week (it was Friday and she did call back). Too worried about my files I called my son, a tech expert.

“”use Time Machine to open the HDD””, he said. I did, and there it all was. Panic over. I do feel though, that this information should be readily available in the instructions or with Home Essentials Direct’s experts.

The lady I spoke to did her best though.

I’ve been a fan of the Samsung T-series external hard drives for some time now…they’re commonly regarded as among the fastest portable SSDs you can buy, and while the price is not trivial, they’ve been in the space for some time and have demonstrated decent reliability.

The T7 Shield is another portable SSD from Samsung with a sort of “encrypt” function which optionally locks down the hard drive (provided you install the Samsung software) with a password. It is cross platform capable, supported on Windows, Mac (although not iOS, sort of) and Android.

Without the software, it is just an external hard drive. It has a rugged, rubberized design and comes with two USB-C cables (one A to C and one C to C). As such, without the software, it can be used on virtually any platform supporting external storage (including iOS).

With the software, and assuming the drive is locked down, only the read-only partition shows up on iOS devices. The only way to unlock the drive is with the software and the password, and without the password any stored data is inaccessible (it would be a pain if you forget the password, so make sure you store it in a vault or can remember it).

When connecting the drive while it is “locked,” without unlocking it your computer will show a read-only partition with the installation media…so you won’t have to worry about being in front of a computer without the software installed.

The software is super basic – allowing you to name the drive (although that doesn’t show up in the naming of the partition), and to turn on and off the drive lock. It’s a relatively simple installation unless you use a modern Mac.

On a Mac, you need to boot to system security settings (something that I would bet most casual Mac users have never done) and adjust what kind of software is permitted for installation on your computer.

It’s fine that it has to happen that way, but I really think the instructions for this should be included with the device. Other than the somewhat irregular installation requirements for Mac users, there isn’t a lot to complain about here.

The price at $239 is in line with what I’d expect to pay for Samsung’s drives (considering their speed capabilities) currently, and having added functionality allowing locking down access to the drive is a nice bonus.

This is the smallest and fastest hart drive I ever had. Pretty cool that technology is allowing us to store a large amount of data something that would fit almost in my wallet. Samsung is a brand that I trust because I know they are at the forefront of technology.

I have been using Samsung memory types and different styles for quite some time either it be an SD card, flash drive, microSD card and other small data forms however this is my first time using a large dataform with Samsung.

I usually hate having an external hard drive because they’re usually big and it adds weight to my computer briefcase However this little guy is just perfect. With it being rugged I don’t feel as worried to keep it on me.

The IP 65 Rating makes it water resistant and dust proof which is great for anybody typically with a hard drive as it will help against things like rain, spills, We’re a normal amount of dust that you would come into contact with like from a work bag purse office drawer or car etc.

It does also say has heat resistant material but I am wondering if this is more because it’s such a small compact size and it helps protect its own he would you will produce when downloading or uploading from the device.

The USB 3. 2 technology is really nice when supported by the opposite device such as a laptop or pc. This will allow for high data read/write speeds of up to 1,050/1,000 MB/s. If your main device does not support USB 3.

2 It will not reach the speeds most likely however will reach the max be to which your device and USBs allow. So even if you do not have a current device that supports a USB 3. 2, this will be preventative for the future as you are will already be equipped with a higher speed USB storage device or if you plug it in to somewhere else let’s say a friends computer.

Yes this will work on a gaming console. This was tested on my PlayStation 4 which was able to upload A game without any flaws. If anything the floor was with the PS4 as it has a lower generation of USB ports.

I’m sure the new Xbox and PS five probably have newer generations of USB ports which will be able to achieve higher rate read and write speeds however it is sufficient for the ps4.

On unboxing you get a nice, compact, smart looking unit. Then you plug it into your desktop PC. Despite the A3 printed sheet which contains two illustrations 1of the device showing how to connect it and 2 another of it plugged into a laptop the remaining space is taken up with their legal disclaimers in about 14 languages.

Connecting most USB HDDs is simply a matter of plugging the correct end of the cable into the device and the other in a suitable USB 2. 0 port, or better, on the PClaptopother devices etc. It appears other buyers seemed to expect this action.

Not so with the latest version of Windows 10. Disk Management did not recognise the drive, so a quick call to their support line within five minutes of opening the package was necessary. Unfortunatley my northeastern accent was as difficult for the operator to understand as was his heavy Asian accent to me.

We did manage after a few minutes and ultimately, a very pleasant conversation led to their Western Digital Lifeguard program being downloaded and installed. Its identical to Windows Disk Management except their own software recognises the HDD and allows you to initialise it.

I was also given more useful advice on connecting to DVDs etc. One useful piece of information tech support did supply was that the device should be plugged into the USB ports on the rear of any desktop PC, as the front ports tend to have slightly different voltages which can cause some problems.

Device is now working effectively and has attained copy speeds of up to 120Mbs on many of my larger files. Same sized files copied to a flash drive take a bit longer My test was a 1. 8 Gb to the HDD 16 sec and to a 128 Gb flash drive over six minutes.

I would advise anyone thinking of purchasig this item to have a close look at the description supplied. Apparently there is a new model available, which could fix future problems for buyers. AND I did notice despite complaints by some MAC users it does state you have to reformat the drive for MACs.

Delivered about an hour or two ago, gave it some time to acclimatise to indoor temp after its journey on the cold van, which you should ALWAYS do with products like this. Plugged in to a USB3. 0 port on a Win10 machine, opens straight up to a nice empty folder, good to use straight away.

Theres some misinformation posted in a lot of reviews here, or maybe more accurately, misunderstandings, so Ill clear these up here. 1. The drive size IS 4GB. 4,000,750,497,792 bytes to be exact. Anyone complaining that its only 3.

6TB Im afraid doesnt understand how hard drive formatting works. Which is fair enough, you wouldnt know about this if youve little or no experience of these things. Once a drive of any kind hard drive, SSD, flash drive USB stick is formatted for use, you lose a proportion of all those little bytes to how file systems need to mark and index all the sections of the drive so that every bit of data can be found.

Like a little address index of where everything lives on it, if you like. And that takes up some space. So, once 4TB is formatted for use, theres 3. 63TB of actual file storage space left empty. 2. This drive is preformatted to NTFS.

Which is my own preference for this, but you can format it yourself to anything else you use, like FAT32, exFAT32, or HFS and APFS for Apples. 3. Im seeing both read and write speed, over USB 3. 0, is 115125MB per second.

4. The actual hard drive in this package is a WDC WD40NMZW59GX6S1SAFETY TIP Dont lift, tilt or turn the drive or ANY hard drive while its working. You might get away with it, but if you butterfingers it and drop it while its running theres a good chance its doneski.

Its a tiny little box and meant to be easily used with laptops, tablets, etc, so its really asking to be handled in use but TRY your best not to move it around when its working. When its not working, the heads park themselves safely away off from the disc surfaces inside, so dropping it then from a small height has a fair chance of being OK, but NEVER when its running.

I have an embarrassingly large number of backup drives. Part of it is as a commercial photographer it’s a necessity – at last count I have something approaching a quarter of a million photos in my lifetime file.

The other reason is I’ve learned the hard way to back up all of my work, then back it up again, and then make sure to make another backup to take off premises for safety. This is my third WD MyBook. There’s no real reason this product exists, there are cheaper ways to get a backup drive and use it with a computer, but these are convenient, dependable and reasonably priced.

I bought this one to do a mega consolidation of everything I have on many different media, except for my photography. WHAT I LIKE The form factor is simple, just a plastic monolith case that can be used either horizontal or vertical.

I choose to use it vertical to take up a minimal amount of desk space. I like to keep it right there in front of me as a visual reminder to be sure to do a daily backup. IMPROVEMENTS WD seems to have this product line down pat, it’s old technology that has proven itself and there’s not a lot they can do to make it better.

The most positive thing I can say about it is that they wisely don’t load it with a lot of useless bloatware to try to make it look more important to you. There are just two relatively small apps, one for PC and one for Mac for those who like to use backup software.

Both files are easily deleted in seconds if you don’t want them. I choose not to use automated backup software, I simply copy entire files and folders from one drive to another so there’s no guessing where they are or what they’re named.

OPINION I find it unfortunate that here we are deep into the twenty-first century and there are still reviews about how noisy or slow these drives are. Your’re not saying anything new by bringing that up, yes they are, if that bothers you don’t buy a hard drive with a spinning platter.

There are those who will say, and count me in on that, mechanical hard drives continue to be used because they are the safest media we can use, the chances of recovering a corrupt or lost data file is highest with these than any other media.

The method being used to use a moving recording head back and forth on a revolving disk is going to cause some noise and it’s also going to be a bit on the slow side. I find that the speed is only a factor when I first get a drive and I’m copying huge amounts of data to it, and yes that can take hours.

After that most backups are cumulative and how long they take has never been an issue for me. And like I said, I keep my WD right in front of me on my desk and they’ve reduced the vibration and noise to the point that it is almost imperceptible.

Because this product does exactly what I expect it to do and because of my positive experience with the MyBook product line I believe this earns a full five stars.

What is the deal with WD products, currently I am having issues with 3 different of their products at once??!! My WDBFJK004OHBK My WD My Book hard drive is not working correctly, I was in the middle of downloading some files and shut my computer down to run errands and when I came back to finish the files my My Book was no longer showing up in my file explorer, it does show up under the section where it says eject item, it shows up in the drives manager but not the other manager.

The hard drive is running, and light shows from the inside. ( I ran the WD digital Data Life guard Diagnostics Tool and it shows the my book but says not available)As I said it was working perfectly and my errands took less than 30 minutes when it stopped showing in the file explorer anymore.

The more I look into wd hard drives the more I find that thier products have a lot of issues that I did not know about when I looked into the research originally. I tried everything that was suggested.

I plugged the hardrive directly into the wall, I shut down the computer a couple of times, I went in and unistalled the my book drive under all the areas you could do that and reinstalled nothing worked!!! this is ridulous how can their products have so many issues this one does not make sense.

it was working and than it wasnt and I can not get to my files that I was back up which is the whole point of these products how is wd sitll in business seriously!? Issue 2 I plugged in my passport 2tb external hard drive that was working perfectly and has thousands of vids and other files on it into my WD live Media player to watch something off it and it played for a second (3 issues) but the purple screen that often happens with the WD media showed up again the files played fine but when I was done unplugging the hdmi cable it would not show the files on the screen anymore and now when I plug the passport in my computer to check it it will not show up on my File explorer or the drive file at all now!! This is Crap WD all of this has happened in just the past 3 days in the middle of another Covid shutdown, again how is this company still in business I now have several thousand files, and movies and things that I can now now find or retrieve or whatever!!!?? and these were my backups I only have some of what was on my My Book hardrive that is back uped on another hardrive but some of the best stuff was on this passport that suddenly stopped working or something??!Q!.

My daughter uses a chrome book for school. For some odd reason that’s the only type of laptop she can use. Unfortunately the storage on these things isn’t the best. This WD drive is perfect. It has plenty of space for what she needed.

She’s able to save her projects, work, digital content, photos amongst other stuff. It’s small and compact, very lightweight easy to carry around. I haven’t tried it on any other devices yet because my daughter has taking over.

It’s very easy to use and transfer files over.

My daughter is issued a Chromebook through her school to do her homework on and it never seems to have enough storage for some of her projects. This WD drive is the perfect solution for that problem! It has allowed her to save in store some of her larger projects and photos and the drive whereas the chrome book doesn’t have enough space for them.

It comes with all the cables that you need to connect it to the chrome book. I also love that it could be used with any other compatible computer and we’re not limited to just using it on her chrome book.

If you’re looking to get a lot more storage for your needs this is the perfect little item to do it for you!.

I am generally NOT a fan of WD drives, having had issues with their products in the past. This was the only drive product offered by Best Buy that met the criteria I was looking for so went ahead with the purchase.

The item seems to be performing without issues and I chalk it up to the fact that, I assume, is because the drive is solid state? I will continue to evaluate it as I use it but, at this juncture, I am inclined to purchase this product again in the near future.

Everything in the description was accurate to the T! Very compact and perfect for my storage needs! I will be buying another couple more soon.

Works well w my older MacBook pro

Ramjet delivers again for me. My first purchase was to upgrade my iMac’s ram. Then came my need to backup my hard drive daily. The Ramjet 500 GB external hard drive more than exceeded my needs. In conjunction with the iMac’s Time Machine I have absolutely no worries about backing up.

Now I can save the $60 a year from off-site backup service that didn’t exactly work as needed when my OS got corrupted. Ramjet, your products are tremendous. Thanks for the peace of mind they provide.

My Fusion Drive crashed, got it fixed to boot off hard drive, but SSD is trashed. Can’t believe how slow my iMac got. store wanted over $700 to replace original with a SSD. I found an online option for around $470, but invokes taking computer apart, starting with removing the screen (not so sure I would do that to save $230.

Then I found this option, I’ve got it hooked up through the USB port and my computer is just as fast as it used to be. The only issue I had was the software RAMJET recommends, “Super Duper”, would not let me use it for free, it stated that I needed to pay and register to use product.

I did find another program, called “Carbon Copy”. I was able to transfer all info onto the drive and have it ready to work in less than 1 hour. Thanks RAMJET.

It took me a long time to finally purchase an external hard drive for backup, but with the guidance of a very informed Ramjet employee I made the right choice. He explained things to me that my tech friends had wrong–sometimes the latest is not the best.

So I bought the hard drive, downloaded the suggested software and everything worked perfectly–so easy. This is my favorite go-to site for Mac equipment.

Now combine the two cons and you have the potential that if the drive were dropped on the side with the USB port cover into a puddle on the side of the street; you could very well crack the side cover, dislodge the port cover, and water splashes in.

Dead drive? No. it’s not powered. Open up one side, put it all in a ziplock bag with a piece of bread on top and set it in a closet or other confined place with a small heater running for about 8 hours.

The warmth will evaporate any water that got on the circuitry as well as around the drive itself. The bread will absorb the evaporated water. Now you should go over the circuitry on the board and the drive for debris and smudges.

Put it all back together and it should work fine provided it survived the shock which is likely. All that said, this situation is highly unlikely. If you are fiddling with the drive in such a way this could happen, it’s a niche circumstance at best.

It’s likely going to be tucked into some pocket or pouch in your laptop bag, getting pressed into other luggage when traveling. This level of protection is actually rather overkill for typical stowage situations.

Now if you check my other reviews you’ll learn I love poking holes in others. This is no exception as in only two reviews we have one case of user error to redeem: The drive only goes to sleep if your system allows it in your power profile.

If you disable HDD spindown and set prevent system idling to sleep, this will not happen. Two options, both system configurations, and neither having anything to do with the quality of the product. Perhaps best to ask about these things or contact support before posting a review that cannot be edited or deleted without contacting Newegg support.

I ordered it and it cam within 3 days of purchase. it is really fast and i am saying this because i have usb 2. 0 not usb 3. 0. i really wanted an external drive which has waterproof and shockproof capabilities and i also wanted one of those drives that when it fell down from my hand or from the table , it would not break into pieces.

i have had it since 1 week and it is quite good. i watched several youtube videos where they torture the silicon power and it is still operational after test. search for ‘silicon power a80 torture test’ without the quotes.

you actually get 2 usb cables. the first one is a little bit too short\(suitable for a laptop) – the second one i used to connect it to my cpu. i have not tried this on smartphones- i don’t know if you can use the lighning to usb connector to transfer data from smartphones.

i also haven’t tried this on ios devices(iphone, ipod, ipad, etc. ) it also works with mac, i don’t have a mac but it should work with it. thanks for reading this review.

I acquired this hard drive due to the large files I use to work and it’s great so far. I work on a process plant and I knew that I needed a reinforced chassis with water and dust resistant but comfortable to carry with me on the field.

Comparing with other rugged brands like Adata, Western Digital and Sandisk, this Silicon Power is a steal! The color blue makes it look sophisticated, device is (kinda) light for the protection level it offers, speeds are not that good (It’s not SSD so keep it in mind) but for the price tag and features it’s a purchase I recommend to everyone if you’re looking for a portable hard drive with advanced protection against the elements.

I bought this recently and although I have not had a chance to use it yet, I know I will be happy with it because I bought one of these a few years ago that was the same Toshiba brand-but not exactly the same product because this one has a bigger storage capacity- and it has worked perfectly.

I like this brand because most of them don’t require any software downloads to use it. You just simply plug it in to the computer and easily drag and drop files back and forth. It is very user friendly, and the Toshiba brand is one of the most reliable brands when it comes to external hard drive storage devices.

I bought this to back up photos. I’ve used Toshiba before on my Macbook air with no problems. This time it recognized the drive but wouldn’t let me change the name of the drive and wouldn’t let me drag files over.

The trouble shooting requires buying a subscription to something I’m not sure will even work so I’m left very frustrated with this item. I’d been so confident it would be fine that I’d already written on the original packaging so I won’t be able to return it.

Came fast. Connects and exchanges fast. I just bought this external hard drive because I wanted to store pictures on it instead of taking up space on my computer. I think I transferred around 1600 pictures in less than 10 minutes time.

The device is small in size. Haven’t had any issues so far.

This is a great drive as long as it works. Mine failed before 1 year was up. It was dead!. Ok, these things happen. However, the WD warranty process is horrible. I have been working on getting a replacement for nearly a month.

Then after all this time, sending them various attachments and answering questions, they told me my drive was out of warranty 01/02/21. I bought it in December 2020. I had sent them the order receipt already.

I sent them the receipt again and threatened an Internet campaign against them. They say they will resolve it now. who knows. Good thing I had just removed my critical applications from drive. I would hate to be in a rush for them to replace their defective drive.

Obviously, they do not want to replace their drives that fail. I will be sticking with Seagate form now on.

I have been using numerous WD external hard drives for years and the My Passport portable SSD drive is the worst. The backup speed is average for the SSD but viewing the backup folders and files is excruciatingly slow.

It takes about a minute to open a small file and it will freeze Windows Explorer after opening a few small files. Unlike the earlier MyPassport, Ultra Passport, Essential, WDMyCloud, etc. , that were quick to install, the Passport SSD also has poor user manual (non-existent) that lacks clear and adequate set up instructions and was agonizing to install.

I had to scour the internet for information to download additional software. I am not sure if the new unit is defective and if not, I will return it to avoid further problems with a product that I have no confidence in.

Yes its true this harddrive is amazing but you dont need to take my word for it. Everywhere you look this is consistently one of the top rated external SSDs out there. Theres a reason lacie drives are an industry standard in TV production(atleast where i live with 8 years professional experience).

This drive is no exception. Its about as thick as my phone case, shorter than a credit card, and super lightweight. I feel comfortable taking this drive anywhere especially since its an SSD and i dont have to worry about any moving parts(ive definitely dropped a HDD or 2 on set in my day).

Not to mention its fast af. USB naming conventions have gotten crazy but its 3. 2 gen 2 which means it can theoretically reach 2000mbps. I tested this on am 18gb folder on a fairly new laptop(XPS13) and was able to get upwards of 580mbps with another 3.

2 gen 2 ssd. But theres only one USB 3. 2 gen 2 port on this laptop but even then it didnt go up much faster than 600(though it did peak around 1000 but it didnt hold it there for more than a second or 2 so i dont count that).

I think it may be capable of faster speeds with larger files but YMMV. All in all its a great harddrive that i would definitely reccomend to someone that wants a hard drive but is to nervous to carry around an HDD like i am.

This will definitely cut down on my transfer times which is what i wanted it for anyway.

Unfortunately this product wasn’t compatible with the cord provided to attach to my MacBook Air and I couldn’t find a cord that would work. Fortunately it was compatible with additional computers in our home.

Loved how small and light the product is. Great for traveling to backup pictures. Love that it is 1TB also so don’t need to have multiple devices.

Having a portable external hard drive, especially with a big storage capacity, is a game changer. My computer was so full and moving so slow and when I backed up all my stuff to the hard drive and was able to clear some things out , it now runs so much more smoothly and I love it! It’s also great security to know I have all my files backed up in case my computer crashes.

Bought it for extra storage for my PS5. Worked like a champ as the PS5 allows PS4 games to be stored and played from external storage. Easy to set up (I plugged it into the USB slot on the back of my PS5, went to storage in the settings menu and it had me format the HD for any PS4 games i wanted to put on it).

After transferring and downloading a few games on the drive and everything plays great. The storage setting shows the ps5 space on the hardware and an external storage option showing how much free space in on it as well.

Can’t beat 2 TB of storage for the $60 I paid and will recommend this for anyone needing it.

This external hard drive is easy to use with my Dell laptop. The amount of storage is perfect for backing up my photos. The upload time of files is quick. This hard drive does not make noise like prior ones I have purchased in the past.

Was looking for a large drive to store backups of my audio and production data, about 2. 5TB. this drive was on sale and has a fairly attractive look, and decent specs, judging from the hard disk speed (7200RPM) and connectivity (USB 3.

1). I’ve noticed across both desktop computers and phones (via OTG connection) that transfers of a larger number of files or a large file will often drop out or the entire drive seems to disconnect and reconnect.

The first time this happened I was worried it died as the partitions completely disappeared from my PC. This makes it kind of unusable for large file backups as I had intended, which is very frustrating.

While I am now able to move my most important work back to my main PC, being clear this drive is just dangerous for serious files, I’m imagining having possibly lost that crucial data and being pretty upset.

(I’ve tried adjusting power and selective suspend settings of the USB-C port, to no avail. ).

Bought the 2TB version for full MacBook Pro backup. Backup completed successfully but after two days of receiving the drive, it was no longer recognized by my Mac. In conversation with LaCie tech support, it was determined that drive was faulty and sent it back to receive a replacement and use their data recovery service.

The replacement drive I received was an older refurbished drive which is not acceptable after having bought a new drive that broke after a very short period of time. LaCie’s (Seagate’s) data recovery service is a mere joke: After having to submit the PW for the locked drive and their claim that they successfully recovered the data on my drive, all I received back were a few useless log fies, noting structured in the way they claimed in their documentation.

Since LaCie is now part of Seagate, no products from either company can be recommended. I will go back to trusted WD.

We were informed by a store employee that this device had enough space for the MacBook software upgrade. Meaning we had to transfer the older software onto it as a backup. Well unfortunately there wasnt and this was the only purpose for the purchase.

There was no other data transferred onto it. During the transfer, it errored stating no enough space. We ended up returning this product. I was a bit disappointed since we had Apple tech on the phone with us waiting and it ended up not working for our needs after all.

For someone else though it might be okay. Light weight, slim and nice appearance.
