20 Best Exterior Paint For High Humidity (2023 Updated)

I saw this color on my neighbors door and immediately knew it was the color that I had wanted to paint my front door but didnt quite get when I bought paint. It was definitely worth repainting! The color is so rich.

I even painted my storm door and love the way it looks. It spread very easily and evenly with a foam roller. Two coats made the door look beautiful. I love that comes in a jar and is easy to store.

When all was said and done the front door came out beautifully. It took several coats though because the paint was very very thin. The finished is nice and we are enjoying looking at it. I would recommend it but the manufacturer could make the paint thicker so it would take less time applying several coats of paint.

Time will tell if the paint is durable and of good quality. I am hoping it won’t chip off when winter comes and snow and rain begin the weathering process. Over all I think it is a winner.

Was a little hesitant from the various reviews. I would definitely prime before using it. I used ppg gripper in grey as recommended by the paint guy in Home Depot. The color (successful is the color name.

its like hunter green) was a little darker then expected but I love it and hubby said it looks really good. Definitely needed two coats. Dries quickly. Rather use the brush than the roller. Roller seemed to skid often so I just gave up and brushed it on.

This is awesome paint. I was looking for a polyurethane paint for a couple of car restoration projects, and I couldn’t find any. Krylon use to make a great polyurethane paint, but quit making it around 10 years ago.

I’ve used Interlux products on previous boat projects, and they are excellent products. Expensive, yes, but great products that seem to last, and hold their sheen, for a very long time. I’d like to see Wholesale Marine do a service to their customers by offering free shipping on everything.

The reason is because alot of states now require shipping to be taxed at the state rate, which, when Wholesale Marine adds on shipping costs to an order, the shipping cost actually costs more than what shows on the web page because the shipping is taxed on the final checkout screen on the web page.

The cost to Wholesale Marine to cover the free shipping would be easily recovered by simply raising the base cost on all products by around $1. 00 to $2. 00 per item. Wholesale Marine product costs are so good that this minor increase in cost would still be below what most other places are charging.

I’d be happy to pay a little extra for the product versus paying tax on shipping costs every time I make an order.

After doing a lot of research, this product was recommended again and again to reseal RV roofs. We could not find any locally so ordered from Jamestown Distributors. It was an easy process for online ordering and it arrived in a timely manner.

We purchased 1 can for our 1998 Safari Trek 2430 (24 ft) motorhome and used Dicor self-leveling caulk prior to using the Brightside. We cleaned the roof several times prior to using the Brightside- 1x scrubbing with diluted Dawn dish soap and another time wiping it down with diluted TSP cleaner.

The product went on easily with a paint roller and brush. It dried evenly and we cannot be happier with how our roof looks! We look forward to no more leaks and increased energy efficiency with the nice bright white roof.

(We did not use the entire can, had some leftover. ).

Brightside paint is widely recommended among boat builders and restorers. The video showing its application on Jamestown’s web site is very helpful. I have used it both on a wooden Glen-L Tuffy 14′ runabout I built, as well as on the restoration of a 60s fiberglass Sunfish sailboat.

It is important to allow the paint to hard cure for several days before use in the water. A week of dry, warm storage will do this. Be very cautious with the fumes – I first applied this in a paint booth with a good mask, but still suffered from the fumes for months afterwards, mainly through constant sinus problems.

I should have ventilated the booth better, but eventually discovered the rolling and tipping method which worked better than spraying anyway. But this too must be ventilated. I set up a box fan that blows across the work, which eliminates most fumes and keeps the bugs away too.

Temperature and humidity play a role in quality and drying time, too. Best is to do the work in a shaded area like an open garage or workshop, out of the sun and away from dust and bugs. I generally use two coats of primer before Brightsides.

I have used both Interlux primer as well as oil-based Killz from the local hardware store. The Interlux primer covers somewhat better, but both yielded similar final results. As with all such jobs, it is all in the prep work, ie sanding.

The primer should be sanded smooth to avoid orange peel in the final coats. I blow off the dust with my shop vac, then do a quick swipe with denatured alcohol. Paint soon after priming as the primer is like a sponge and absorbs moisture from the surrounding air.

I live in North Carolina on a lake so the humidity is an issue. Wet sand 600 grit between final coats to get a mirror finish.

I purchased a 5 gallon bucket of this to restore our fence in preparation for our backyard wedding. We scraped off all the old paint which was extremely labor intensive, then painted the fence (also very labor intensive).

It’s been 1 month and we are noticing that the paint is ALL coming off. It’s cracking and peeling everywhere. It looks worse than it did before! I contacted Home Depot about getting my money back and they said I had to contact Behr and I can’t get ahold of anyone at Behr.

All of the peeling is the NEW paint. Even the old paint wasn’t peeling that bad. I had used Lowes Fence paint a year ago on a different section of the same fence and didn’t have this trouble at all. The only reason I didn’t use the lowes paint this time was because it was out of stock at our local store.

I wish I would have waited for it to come back to Lowes instead of getting Behr paint at Home Depot.

I have used acrylic latex paint including Behr on asphalt shingles without primer and the results were fine even 15 years after painting the roof white so see no need for a primer. My experience is that acrylic latex paint adheres very well to asphalt shingles and in addition, acts to hold the gravel to the shingle.

Why does Behr recommend a primer? I have also thinned the first coat substantially to ensure that it it seeped between shingles since I have found the paint acts as an additional bond between shingles.

Overall, I have found that painting shingles will add substantial life to them.

I bought the barn paint for my big porch ceilings and also for some of the trim and porch furniture. I am so pleased with the coverage and dry time. It looks amazing! I definitely will use it in the future.

I bought this in white the first time to do my fireplace in 1898 home. Staining that dark old brick was the best thing I ever did! I went a step further and decided to do the old foundation to in “Inviting Veranda” to match the Behr porch and floor paint.

In addition I purchased two other Behr concrete stains to make a sporadic color to the smooth face concrete block. You never have to worry down the line about scraping when using stain. If you get tired of it you can change it easily.

Loved my choices and decided to seal the outside foundation with a gloss sealer. I received many compliments from passerby’s, other mason experts, and received a beautification award for my house from the city without even applying.

People ask if that”s paint. My quick answer is “No. It’s Behr Concrete Stain. “.

After much comparison and shopping around we purchased Behr Semi- transparent concrete stain after having good luck with their other products. All the directions were followed for application and curing, but we are now finding that the stain is not the least bit durable to the elements.

We live in Minnesota and the ice is pulling most of the color right up. This is the first season, so I would expect more from this considering all the work it took to apply and the price for the product.

It looked great, but if it does not last, then that os worth nothing. Very disappointed. I will be posting in social media to for-warn others.

I recently purchased this product which I used to paint my driveway, a previously unfinished concrete. I pressure washed the concrete which was already in good shape. I then painted it on with appropriate weather conditions and as directed (although I didn’t use a primer first).

The result was a disaster. While the semi-transparent stain gives a more natural finish that is somewhat inconsistent overall, I was completely unprepared for the roller marks which left me very unhappy.

I contacted Behr Paints directly and explained my problem. I wasn’t sure if I could expect any help since I had not worked with the stain before and wondered if my application would mean I was just out of luck on a warranty.

However, the Behr warranty people quickly and amicably resolved my complaint without any fuss or even discussion about what I may have done wrong. They immediately sent out enough paint to redo my driveway and offered either the same stain, a solid stain or a 1-part epoxy paint.

I chose the later since my inexperience with stain left me feeling a little unconfident. They took care of custormer satisfaction happily and it’s obvious they take great pride in both their product and their customer care.

I will be a loyal Behr Paint customer and highly recommend their products as a result. However, I would suggest this particular product be applied by a pro or else be extremely diligent in following all instructions, understanding that the nature of a stain is different than that of paint and will provide a different finish than that of paint.

So, it is a great product I’m sure, but I’d recommend a pro do the job.

This was our first experience using Ecos paint. It had a watery consistency that made it harder to use, and required three coats. The initial smell gave me a headache; and when we had to close the windows because of a neighbor burning rubbish, it gave me a terrible migraine headache.

However, we were very pleased with how fast it cured, with no odor the next day. Finished room looks beautiful. I would recommend this, but need someone else to do the painting who tolerates it when wet.

We just bought a new home before Christmas, and immediately I hated the deep red front door, left by the previous owner. It hadn’t been well kept or cleaned and was just very unwelcoming. Your front door is the first thing that welcomes everyone in, so I picked up a quart of plain white, with no color added, just to give the new a new boost and clean reset before I decide on the official color.

It covered perfectly and dried quickly, even in the cooler temperature. Due to snow and weather, I’ve only gotten to get one coat, and you can’t see even a slither of the old dark red. It really boosted the front of the home.

I look forward to using this same WeatherShield line for an official color, come Spring. I will also be using this line to fix the areas I accidently splattered droplets. :).

We was very cautious buying Sherwin Williams paint again. We bought a new home in January and I thought SW would be the best. We went to the SW actual store in our town and it was a nightmare. We spent over $500 on paint colors for specific rooms and it was a train wreck.

The paint was so thick , didn’t want to dry, after being dried the walls was still sticky. I could not see why anyone would spent that much money on paint and it was awful. Talk with Lowe’s paint professional.

They let me know the actual store in our town is known to mix the paint way to thick which causes color & drying issues. So after a good talk to the paint pro- we tried the SW outdoor paint for our shutter & trim.

WOW!!! Easy application, dried perfectly, no sticky ness and the color pops! So happy we gave Sherwin Paints a try again!.

So I am a first time home buyer and of course I wanted to add a couple extra personal touches to the inside and outside of my home. I had no clue what I was doing but thanks to YouTube and the helpful workers at Lowes I was able to do everything I wanted.

I used this WeatherSheild Exterior Paint and Primer to freshen up the trim around my front door and windows. Super easy and one step. boom I was done. This paint was the perfect consistency and the fact I didn’t have to prime and paint was a definite plus.

Would definitely use/buy again and recommend.

I used the HGTV Home paint by Sherwin-Williams on two different wood surfaces. Both were cleaned and properly prepped as the directions clearly instructed. The first surface was smooth, and had a nicer, more finished feel to it.

The second surface was more unfinished and had a raw, rough texture to it. The paint coated the smooth, finished wood surface very easily and it took only one coat. I would say that the built in primer was a definite time saver, and made the entire project easier and more pleasant! As I expected, I had to apply a second coat to the raw wood surface because it soaked the paint right up.

Rough, textured surfaces often need 2 coats because it’s hard to get the paint into all of the cracks, bumps and crevices. After the second coat dried, it was perfect, and looked just like the first surface.

The surfaces haven’t had sufficient time to really get dirty at this point, so I’m not able to touch on the self-cleaning technology except to say that I’m excited and hopeful that it will keep things cleaner and looking like new for a longer period of time than other paints.

So far, I would give this paint a thumbs up and 5 stars! Definitely worth the price in my opinion!.

My husband and I purchased this paint to paint our patio as it just looked like it needed some updating. We chose this beautiful grey color in order to accent the black, grey, and white patio furniture and décor we just purchased.

I am not a “professional” painter, but this almost made me feel like I was. The application process was so easy and the coverage was great. The color was beautiful and was thick as it rolled onto the walls.

We were able to finish our entire porch within a few hours. After waiting for a full day, we did one more coat just to be sure to touch up any spots we needed, and it looked absolutely beautiful. So far, it has been on the walls for a month and it looks just as good as the day as when we painted it.

I feel as if this is going to be long lasting and continuously look great for when our guests come over to hang out in the back yard. I give this paint a 10/10! I had never used the HGTV Home Sherwin Williams paint prior to using this, but after seeing the reviews, I figured I would give it a shot.

HGTV Home Sherwin – Williams Everlast Exterior Paint I had a few outside projects I wanted to paint. I went to Lowe’s and picked up a gallon of HGTV Home Sherwin – Williams Everlast Satin Exterior Paint in Fired Brick.

This is a complete one coat paint and primer and 100% acrylic enamel. This product provides all weather protection, water beading technology, UV defense (protects from fading), mold-mildew and algae resistant coating and is anti-fade.

Also, this paint covers existing paint, dirt, residue, and old stains. I live in Louisiana where the humidity is insane and all it has done is rain the last 3 weeks. It states this paint has rain ready technology, meaning it’s dry in l hour.

Therefore, when the rain stopped long enough I applied one coat of paint to the outside shelves I was putting together. I used a 2” Purdy XL Glide paint brush with medium stiff nylon bristles. It was so easy to paint my shelves with the thick formula.

Hint: Louisian has an average humidity of 74%. It took 1 hour 10 minutes for the first coat to dry. What a surprise? I couldn’t believe the paint was dry! The 1st coat of paint covered the shelves so well I almost didn’t apply a second coat.

After 2 hours I applied the second coat. I love the deep rich red color of “Fired Brick”. This product comes with Sherwin – Williams Lifetime Warranty. I highly recommend you try HGTV Home Sherwin Williams Everlast exterior paint.

My son bought this paint and had the color matched to a doorframe. He bought it to paint the front door which is metal. He said it’s the best paint he’s ever used! He mentioned how well it goes on and how smooth the surface is.

Were it not for the price I’d give this paint five stars. It goes on well and the very matt finish looks great. Also an excellent range of colours. Worth the price but just wish it was a little cheaper!.

I did hesitate at first because of the price I really have never spent so much on emulsion but I am so glad I went ahead it was thick in texture and went on like a dream the end result surpassed my expectations.

10 years of using Farrow and ball. I have wood panelling throughout my home. I wouldn’t use anything else. Yes compare to delux and cheaper brands which this can not be compared to because it is made by totally paint geniuses! All white has totally no pigment at all which creates its superior whiteness.

I have used their emulsion too for the same time frame and they are also the same. Comparing this to silicon well tbh It’s like comparing a Aston Martin to a KA.

My life long love affair with Farrow and Ball paint is over unfortunately. Their gloss paint used to be absolutely amazing in terms of quality and even if you weren’t that clever a painter this stuff made your interior woodwork look wonderful and I have never had to repaint.

This new oil free stuff is terrible and I feel they have a cheek to charge people the amount they do – after two undercoats with their own brand and three coats of gloss I’ve given up the will to live because my skirting boards look awful and I just cant be bothered to rub them down and paint them anymore! They look like I’ve painted them with nail varnish! This will be another company that goes down the tubes unless they sort this out.

I’ve been using and advocating F&B for over 30 years, justifying the price because the quality is so good. Not anymore. What a shame.

Dries far too quickly. I used it on spindles and found that if you put it on thinly it leaves lines but put it on more thickly and it dribbles down but you can’t blend in the drips without scuffing the paint because its drying so quickly.

I tried different brushes, I tried stirring it for ages, my husband had a go with it but always the same problems. We gave up after 2 spindles and returned it. I’ve had to re-sand the spindles that I used this paint on.

Also, it claims to be a ‘soft, sympathetic’ shade of white but I would describe it as stark white.

We hate diy and in particular painting and all the cutting in etc BUT we both agreed that this paint was actually really good to paint with, it goes on the walls like a dream, it’s thick and creamy and a joy to paint with.

We used no undercoat and used 2 coats of paint rollers on and the coverage was amazing…. with any other paint in the past we’ve had to do 3 or 4 coats and still not been 100% happy (total pita!). The end result of using this is very professional looking! Would def recommend based on my own personal experience.

It’s very hard to find light grey without blue undertones. Painted the whole house in this colour. Love it!

We have used Farrow and Ball for a few years now and find it to be the best paint we have ever used. It’s lovely to apply and gives a great finish. The colours are suttle and we like the Matt finish.

We used Elephants breath on the doors and skirting and the colours blend beautifully. I know it is expensive but well worth it.
