20 Best Extensions For African American Hair (2023 Updated)

I wear extensions because my hair is short and I dislike it, so I have been wearing extensions, I decided to give tape extensions a try and went with these and I am so happy I did. The tape is super strong and has a great hold! The hair itself is super soft and silky.

I was shocked with the quality of both the hair and tape. If you have thick hair, I would suggest 4 packs to be safe. All in all I am so happy with these and now I can’t wait to try their pre-bonded ones once I replace these.

The color was also true to the color number and was a perfect match to my hair.

This product is truly a diamond in the ruff. It blends wonderful with my hair it’s not like usual clippings that are thick at the top and thin at the bottom they are completely full from top to bottom this is my second one.

Even the people I see every day Don’t notice that it’s not my real hair. Highly recommended! Highly recommended! Highly recommend it! And also the color assortment is wonderful you can find the true color for you!.

These are probably one of the best set of extensions from google that I have gotten. I’ve tried about maybe 4 different sets of extensions from google over the past 4 years. After searching stuff over the internet I saw that a celebrity stylist recommended this brand with a link to google so naturally I had to try them.

They are so soft and easy to use. I use them everyday and have no problems. I usually wash them about once a week to get hair product residue off of them and freshen them up and they are still soft. I put a lot of heat on mine so like natural hair a lot of heat will start to damage them but nothing new.

I’ve already bought these extensions about 5 times over the past year or so. Again I apply a lot of heat to mine but if u don’t use a lot of heat they will last longer.

Best quality synthetic wigs are from this brand. They are synthetic, but you can still heat style and Detangle much easier than other brands. They are on the affordable side for blendable hair. Would get again.

I love this hair I got it before and paid much more for it. This is the BEST quality of hair you can buy. Got it in such a timely manner, which I really appreciate. so much.

Some time ago I destroyed my hair because I dyed it in many colors and it was very damaged so I had to cut it very small. I wanted an extreme change so I changed the color of my hair and bought these extensions that I think are of good quality # 18 I stapled them one by one and my hair looked so real, everyone loved it and those who didn’t know me didn’t even realize they were extensions Ps.

I have purchased these exact extensions from you twice before and always been very pleased with the quality, even reusing the extensions multiple times for months. However, I am really disappointed with the quality of my most recent pack.

I have had them in for just over a week and they already need removing because they’re so dry/frazzled/split ends and continuously tangled requiring constant brushing. You can actually see the split ends on them, even though I’ve trimmed them! I have had to sleep with them in a plait to avoid matting, and am going to have to remove them today.

I would expect this from cheap Amazon extensions but to spend £100 on hair that lasts a few days. I emailed cliphair regarding this a few days ago but not had any acknowledgement yet. I’m experienced in taking care of extensions and have ruled out any mistakes I could be making on my part, and believe that this is down to the quality of the hair.

If I could give a 0 star review I would. These won’t last you longer than a few days. The quality of the hair is soooo very poor. They get tatty/knotty and even dread lock looking. They advertise them as remy human hair, this is nothing like that.

Remy human hair can last up to one year, yet these feel synthetic. They say you can wash, DYE and use heat styling. Even recommend using semi permanent dye …which contains peroxide (SUPER DRYING). But because I have used purple shampoo ONCE.

They have put the blame on me, even though I’ve never had this problem with any other brand of hair extensions before for over 10+ years. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t waste your money. Angel remy are a similar price and the quality is 100000% better.

After emailing them, they accept no responsibility at all. Disgraceful.

Bought lightest blonde and ice blonde (2 packs). Lasted less than 2 weeks due to the poor quality of hair. When first taken out of the packet the hair feels silky and soft and is also a lovely colour.

After installing and when it came it washing them for the first time I found them to go very dry and the ends tangled and matted. This is unlike any other real human hair extensions I have worn before.

The extensions did not look nice as the texture is so course and frizzy compared to my own hair and also caused them to pull on my real hair due to the knotting at the bottom. I used the recommended products by Clip hair including the conditioning spray and it did not help.

I’ve been wearing FoxyLocks for about 10 years. I love their extensions and I recommend them to everyone that compliments me on my hair. I normally just use my clip-ins when I’m looking for a fuller, longer, ponytail but I really wanted a quicker, less complicated option so I was super excited to try out the wrap ponytails.

When I received it everything was great; smooth and silky like always, perfect length, and the color is my current fave as far as blending with my hair. Unfortunately, I have tried every way imaginable to make this ponytail stay on my head and it just slides right out.

I’ve tried teasing, multiple hair ties, bobby pins, combinations of all of these, and it just doesn’t work for me. It’s heavy and pulls whichever hair tie I’m using to hold my hair up right out. The one time I did manage to anchor it to my head it was super uncomfortable.

Honestly I’ve tried to come up with ideas that would help it work for me (as far as how they could be manufactured differently) and I haven’t come up with anything. Maybe offering a lesser weight for those of us that have super fine silky hair? I normally buy the deluxe 18” or 20” inch clip-ins, and I’ve worn the superior 22” with no problems before so I didn’t think anything of the weight on the ponytail.

I’m so disappointed because I was truly looking forward to it.

Good quality and quantity extensions I think reusing the packaging for the extensions is not suitable. I tried to put my extensions back into the box once used and it was really difficult to fit them inside.

I travel a lot so the extensions come with me so the box would be useful, but since it cannot be re-closed I need to find another way to transport them. I also have difficulty once extensions are in my hair to maintain a high ponytail.

The ponytail is slippery. I do not use any other hair products except the clip in extensions and a couple of hair ties but the ponytail falls. I watched the video but I wear my ponytail higher up, however it is still slippery.

On the whole, I would say good quality and quantity of extensions and I appreciate the sample piece before open the main package.

I have fine, flat hair but alot of it. I purchased these for my wedding to provide more volume and length on the day. The colour match is perfect to my shade. My hair is darker underneath which you can see from the photo and it still belnds beautifully.

The seamless clips blend excellently with my fine hair. So often the clips can be seen on standard extension clips that it I worth paying the extra for the seamless ones! My hair also never holds curls well or heat tongs, it tends to go limp within a few hours.

That’s not the case with Foxylocks extensions inplace. I wrap them around a roller every few days if I wear them each day and without spray and in rain they stay in, even after brushing. They also don’t malt much either.

On the wedding day, both my hair and makeup professional wanted to know where I had gotten these extensions from – so they speak for themselves! They seem expensive on the face of it but if you long for longer/thicker hair or for me – Princess hair, these really will last! In the below pictures the extensions have been wrapped on rollers over night and I have chopstick curled my hair.

No hairspray and done within 15 minutes. They are fantastic!.

I love this product for several reasons. Color, quality, clips and different lengths to play with. I have natural red hair and 58 years old, a salon burnt 3/4s of my hair off when I had it dyed for my 57 birthday.

Natural red hair is very delicate you have to be careful dying it. Now my total hair in a ponytail is the size Of my pointer finger that’s all that’s left and was down to my waist. In saying this I love the red tones of the hair lengths you have.

I can hide what hair I have in all the 8 pieces & counting I choose from you. The clips stays in my extremely thin hair and doesn’t slide out. You brought my confidence back to face the public daily and I get compliments every day on how beautiful my hair is.

The quality of this hair is amazing!! But it is too thin for my liking. I have thick, shoulder length hair with layers and curtain bangs and these are SO thin. I’d need two packs just to look natural.

Ive had to mix it with my thicker, synthetic extensions unfortunately. If you have thin hair, these are good! Just keep in mind that the clips are pretty bulky.

This review is for those of you out there who, like me, (but unlike all the models in the videos for some reason. ??) don’t ALREADY HAVE a full, lush head of long hair. Here’s the skinny: these extensions *will* take a little extra work (some volumizing product, and make sure to tease your roots) but overall they’re about 100 times easier to use and just better overall than other extensions I’ve tried.

(Tbf, if you’re looking for something to instantly turn you into Lady Godiva without any work on your part, then what you want is a wig, not extensions. ) I’ve been on and off chemo since I was 22 (34 now) and this last time my hair grew back in horribly fine and lifeless.

Since it’s only chin length, these work better in braids or half up (to avoid the mullet look) but if my hair were longer or if I were to trim the extensions I could absolutely wear it down. I hit them w a little heat styling spray and a large barrel curling iron on low heat to give them some life out of the package and it worked perfectly.

They’re super high quality (Remy is the way to go if you want a long-term investment) and the hair feels incredible. Again, adjust your expectations to account for the hair you’re working with naturally, but these are, in my opinion, one of the *BEST products* I’ve tried in my long journey to remedy my chemo-ravaged hair.

I’ll definitely be trying the thicker version in the future now that I know how efficient and gentle the weft mechanism is.

You changed the quality of these extensions or something else. I’ve been buying the 22″ extensions from you since November. I’ve spent a lot of money and usually buy 3-4 packs at a time. The last ones I ordered are completely different from the ones I’ve gotten before.

Before they were truly 22″ long, solid and thick hair from the “root” all the way to the ends. Now they are thinner than silk strands and the ends are like nothing, super thin, fragile and cheap looking.

I buy my own hair and take it to my hairdresser, where she does my roots, moves my extensions up and adds in the new packs I bring her. It always blended so seamlessly before. The extension strands matching the thickness of my natural hair strands.

Now they are so thin and cheap and just lay flat, no thickness, volume nothing, just scraggly thin hair that doesn’t blend in at all with my natural hair. I didn’t even open the packs before giving them to her because all the other times she’s done my hair they were fine.

After she finished and I saw how thin, scraggly and ugly my extensions looked, she said these are different than what you usually bring and thought that I knew. I look like an idiot, it is beyond obvious that I have extensions in, they look so cheap, thin, barely any hair in the packs and what is there is so freaking thin.

I don’t know what you changed or if I got defective packs but I am beyond upset. I have spent so much money buying the hair and paying my hairdresser all for my hair to look so stupid and obvious that I’m wearing Claire’s quality hair extensions.

This hair is beautiful! I have not washed it yet because it is clean and it is super shiny. Holds curl amazing so you won’t have to stylet each use. I always get compliments on my hair when I wear it.

I love the color it is not yellow and it is not ashy I would say it’s a neutral light blonde. Which is the exact color that I love. It takes me like one minute to put it on and Way better than any permanent or removable extension I have ever tried.

The only thing is I wish that the string was more adjustable and they had extra or different links of the wire so I can fit it to my head. They do have adjustable’s on the actual extension itself but I find that when you shorten it sometimes there’s like a little bump on the side so I just keep it as long as possible because I don’t like the bump.

But overall I love it! I hope that this company also comes out wit toppers so I can add volume to the top of my hair as well and get that bombshell look without teasing my hair.

I’ve been using Donna Bella for years. The quality of the hair itself is 5 stars, in my opinion. I’ve been extremely happy with all of my previous orders, including when my stylist would order and apply for me.

This time, the bonds on all 4 bundles are tiny. Each strand seems thinner as well, though I understand the weight of each bundle is noted – I’m not sure if that has decreased. Normally 4 bundles is more than enough for me.

This time, it barely did the trick; it looks very thin and incomplete. Also, because the bonds are so small now, several of the strands have already slid out! I even decreased the amount of my own hair that I normally would bond them to when the bonds were larger… I’ve been doing this for many years….

Something’s definitely different and I am really bummed out about it.

Extremely disappointed. Curl pattern (although a bit looser than previously purchased clip ins) looked good when I received the hair. After first wash the hair is now wavy. I was not expecting this at all.

I purchased another set of curly clip ins about a year ago and the curl pattern remain intact after countless washes.

I have been going to Perfect Locks since it was upon the hill on Concord Ave! The hair in the past was beautiful…. the hair now gets tangled and mated and I spend to much for a product that mates on my head! I gave the seamless a chance because I was hoping for a different outcome, which I did get….

the hair still mated, the difference is that the seamless strip tore off! What the ****‍♀.

I love this hair. It is very much like my real hair. I like that I can just clip-in and unclip to remove. Most of the time I leave it in when I go to bed. Then I just put a scarf on and in the morning just shake and go.

It is very natural looking. I get lots of compliments. I am a 3 time customer and will be purchasing some more soon. I’m glad that it’s not real expensive.

I research weaving hair for months. I finally made a decision to buy and just had it installed and can’t say enough good things. Everything about this hair is perfect. The stylist also gets five starts.

This isn’t the first time I’ve used Diamond Remi hair but I usually purchase the hair in store. I came across this site while browsing and definitely couldn’t beat the pricing for this hair. Now that it’s installed I can really tell the difference; the quality seems the same, but the length is off.

I’m not sure if I’ll purchase this hair from this site again.

I keep buying these so they must be doing something right! Use a good hair oil (On the ends) like an argon or moroccan oil when or if they ever look dry on the ends. It will smell good and absorb into the ends making the hair look healthy again.

Im still looking for the best, cheapest oil. make sure the person putting them in and taking them out knows what they are doing and if you are like me, youll become addicted. Thank you for helping me to have long hair like Ive always wanted!.

So I love the quality of these tape ins I buy them all of the time and I have never had an issue until now. I ordered two packs of extensions in the color sally and one pack in the color susie. One of the sally extensions only had 9 in it.

Im pretty disappointed I got ripped off for how expensive they are, and I only needed one more spot to fill for a whole head. I am now left with 1 useless weft.

This was horrible. Big no no nooo. Do not waste your money on this hair. Itvsheds , gets breakage looks fake doesn’t style well holds a funny smell doesn’t hold color galls out easily not good. Need I say more.

I received the Zyrtec Sis Naturali Star clip-ins and immediately co-washed them, as I wanted to wear them the following day. The hair was incredibly soft and had little to no shedding. They dried just as soft and the curls were amazing! I’ve been wearing the clip-ins for a week now and I just love how they mimic my natural hair.

Everyone has thought that the clip-ins are my hair! I’m going to co-wash them again today (a week later) to see how they turn out but I’m sure they’ll be just as pretty as they were when I unboxed them because the hair has maintained perfectly this week.

The 9 piece clip ins are soft and the texture is so real. They are easy to install and the combs catch your hair easily. I am able to create versatile styles because the weft has lace and is small, flat and blends easily.

There is zero shedding. This texture is very curly. I will definitely be purchasing more.

I’ve been wearing extensions for over 10 years and I’ve tried just about every method out there. Tape-ins are super easy to install, they lay flat, and can be removed with little damage, as long as you know what you’re doing! The Satin Strands brand is a little on the high side, but still affordable, and the hair quality is great! You can find it at Sally Beauty Supply.

Because you can find this in-store, it’s easy to color match to your hair. They can easily be colored, if needed. If well taken care of, these extensions can be reused with new extension tape for a long time!.

I would give it a 0 if I could. I used these tape-in extensions on a client as a last resort because the color I normally use had been out of stock at Cosmoprof. These extensions were falling out of my clients hair not even 24 hours later!! I had used them in the past without a problem but clearly their quality had diminished tremendously.

NEVER AGAIN! I will give Sally’s credit though, after calling customer service I was able to return the unopened pack without any problems.

I have bought this hair not belive that the quality will be what was advertised. After using I was very delighted ! I was able to wash it , curl it , iron it and braid it. I received many compliments on it.

I was so excited to wear these. I was waiting for my hand-tied appointment for months. After spending $850 on two packs of hair from Bellami, I was so excited to have long hair. The hair feels super soft & silky when you take it out of the package.

After installation everything went horrible. I don’t think this is 100% human hair. My first complaint is that there are several black hairs showing through the blonde and they are textured. I spent about $150 on supplies to care for this hair- silk bonnets, brushes, olaplex, oils, sulfate free prpducys, silk scrunchies.

I have had this hair installed for 4 days and it has been washed twice. After only 4 days the hair is completely frayed and dry at the ends. Not at all the silky, soft hair that was promised. I am basically considering this an $850 mistake.

I wish I never bought this hair. I should have just bought cheap hair to wear for a few days because at this rate, the $850 Bellami hair won’t last me 3 weeks.

I have been looking for a superb quality of extensions to provide my clientele in my busy salon. I purchased these to use in my own hair before purchasing a large stock to make sure they were very good.

I was severely disappointed in these. The hair is TOO straight. There is absolutely no movement, which makes it very challenging to cut these extensions and blend them. I have washed my hair once with them in and used a low heat curling iron to curl them.

The hair is extremely dry, tangling and matting up, and the ends look completely fried. These are hands down the worst quality extensions I have ever purchased. I’m extremely disappointed! Almost $800 for garbage hair! I’m honestly shocked, I can get much better quality for a fraction of the price elsewhere.

I am very disappointed with my Bellami extensions. I was so excited to order them as I have heard amazing things about them and have many friends who order and love them. When I received my extensions they looked great and after a couple weeks of wear they looked awful.

I am a hairstylist so I am well aware of the products I should be using. I deep condition once a week and use heat protectant when I am styling. When I messaged the company looking for answers I also sent photos of my hair and they told me this was completely normal for blonde extensions.

As someone who has had extensions for the last 5 years I know that this is not normal wear and tear. I also have seen my friends extensions look nothing like this. After spending almost 1000 Canadian I am beside myself with the condition of these extensions.

I love these clip on hair extensions. Very long and dramatic for a night out. I tease my hair at their roots for a better grip. They blend beautifully and I can do many different hairstyles such as large braids or bouncy pony tails.

Great quality for this price! Totally recommend.

Ok so I was pretty sceptical about this one, considering it was in the sale I thought I would buy it. The colour match to my hair is perfect! My mum commented the other day that this is the best set of hair extensions she’s ever seen on me! I used to use easilocks but I’m telling you the quality of this hair compared to my easilocks is a JOKE! I can’t recommend these extensions enough! So much so I’ve bought another two pieces to wear on my wedding day!.

5 piece sets are just too much for me, but this one piece is the best! Really great and feels natural and soft. My own hair is rather fine so I had to cut it in a half ( which was very easy to do ) and trim a little.

Now I have two sets of extensions and perfect colour match. So happy, would buy again in a different shade.

Long post but I wish someone wouldve told me before i purchased. I’ve been wearing extensions for 10+ years and I was really excited about ordering from Luxy – it took me a bit to convince myself to pay so much for hair but I just knew they were going to be worth it, sadly, i’m a little disappointed.

Although the color and volumn are great, the first thing i noticed was how bulky the clips are for the “Classic” extensions. I have thin hair so my natural hair will show lumps and bumps, ecspecailly in the front/top areas.

The quality of the actual hair is better than some but definately not the best i’ve had. Taking them out of the box they were super soft and silky, they styled well enough (it didn’t hold as well as I would’ve liked) and it seemed rougher/dryer after styling.

Then just after 1 wash, they lost a lot of their shine and softness, it also tangles pretty badly with my natural hair and will look matted. Just kinda coarse and stiff. Overall I feel like quality extensions are getting harder to come by these days – although these are wearable, they just aren’t quite as good as I had hoped.

If you have thin hair maybe try the seamless – I personally just don’t like the tape-like look, its too noticable in my thin hair, i feel the “classic” is more camouflage, these just happen to be a lot bulkier than i’ve ever seen.

**Side note: I take care of my extensions and use the proper protectant. And even if that wasn’t the case, I don’t feel like hair of good quality would get this dry and prone to tangles after just a few weeks of wear and 1-2 washes.

I bought the halo because my hair is very thin and needed some extra volume and length. My hair has not grown in a couple years so I was super excited to get the halo and LOVED what it looked like. My first thoughts were that it is well worth the almost $500 I spent to get them (shipping/duties) and then an extra $100 for my hair dresser to trim and thin them to look more natural for me.

However, after 4 wears I started to notice there was a bald spot where the wire sits. I had watched the youtube videos on how to fit them to your head and thought that they fit perfect after consulting with my hair dresser.

However, now I have a bald spot that is perpendicular to my middle part and has not grown back in over a month. I contacted luxy hair about this and wondered if there was a warranty for the hair extensions which there isn’t but it is disappointing that a company that is producing a product to support confidence would not take more measures to help out a client.

I have no hate on these extensions because they are beautiful but I can no longer wear them and feel as though my $500 has gone to waste and my confidence has decreased. I have now spent more money on vitamins and hair growth supplements to try and grow this bald spot in.

I just wish there was more support and I wanted to make this a known possible cause of these type of hair extensions.

DO NOT BUY unless you have an extra 20+ minutes in the morning to (try to) get in and adjust. Their 36 second video shows the model breezily and effortlessly putting in the halo then simply pulling to remove it!! FALSE!!!! there are 4 clips that you have to attach AND the ends where the band attaches to the halo stick out.

IF I had thick enough hair to hide those, I wouldn’t need the halo to before with! I had chatted with their rep Trish before even buying this product, mentioning that I was excited about going clip free (I already have clip in extensions from this company that I don’t wear because the clips hurt) and she replied that “yes, not having clips that pull on my hair would be great” (implying that the halo was clip free).

So now I have an item that costs over $200. 00 that I will never wear because I can’t return it (if you open anything from Luxy, you’re stuck with it). Sure, I had the “tester” but that was for color comparison, not an actual test of the halo itself.

Since I already had product from Luxy, I new the color would be fine but how was I supposed to know if the halo would work UNLESS I OPENED IT??!!?? In my opinion, this is a SCAM!!! Not worth the time or money.

If I had professional hairstylists at my beck and call like the celebrities Luxy shows wearing their extensions then yes, I (as in my hair) could and would look just as flawless but I don’t. Wish I had put that together before wasting my money.

I had higher expectations for cashmere extensions, I was looking at them even months before buying them. I’m not 100% sure what’s going on with them but I’m guessing they’re remy hair mixed with non-remy hair.

I got the bombshell brunette and when I tried styling at 300 degrees the darker color just MELTED with the heat! I contacted costumer service and they said I was using too much heat, which I think is ridiculous.

I style my natural hair at 380 and of course it doesn’t roast. I even tried styling at 240 and had same problem. I’m very disappointed and won’t be buying again or recommending to friends. I loved the color and texture though, but it’s really inconvenient not being able to style them.

The extensions didn’t lay flat or stay in – no matter what l tried. When putting in they looked pretty but after an hour just all slipping. Kept trying them. I washed them With hair extension products and they literally became so frizzy and out of control.

Definitely feel i asted my money and won’t purchase again.

Not as neat as the regular starlet brunette 16in I previuosly bought. It seems to me that it was used before and probably returned although the seal is intact. Overall, the seamless clips are great but the hair is not as great.

This hair is high quality! Looked so gorgeous for my wedding. The hair feels so good and comfortable when wearing for long period. The clips don’t hurt my head like other clip ins I have tried in the past.

I had a color match FaceTime appointment and she suggested a color that wasn’t even on my radar. I bought some samples and her suggestions was the closest match. I got my clip in extensions and love them.
