This uses the rtl8153 chipset, which is known to be unreliable with Big Sur. Not a great work experience to have Zoom calls randomly drop out. In this state, which happens every few hours, device media is in “connected” state, in fact you can see it toggle when disconnecting physical media (but leaving device itself connected), but no packets are send or received.

Disconnecting and reconnecting to the USB bus is the only way to recover from this state, but no after having all remote connections with any state being reset.

So I bought this to be able to use Ethernet with my new lg laptop. B&H should have known that one comes with it. So I will save you some money for those who are buying this computer. Adapter for Ethernet comes with it.

The person I talked to that day didn’t know anything and was just reading back the specs tha I could read myself.

This happens every couple of hours. Once I unplug, the MacBookPro picks up a WLAN signal and continues. When I then plug-in the adapter, LAN connection also works again – for typically a couple of hours.

Running latest macOS Big Sur.

I bought this via ANker/Amazon last week. I ca confirm that it does not work with Mac Big Sur 11. 16. 1 I see driver updates for MacOS 10 but nothing for 11? There’s no mention of “not for Big Sur” on any of the sales pages for this product.

I know this is due to Apple changing some driver specs, but it’s not like Apple hasn’t been perviewing Big Sur for almost a year to allow for this sort of thing. Of 20+ Anker products I own, this is the only “clinker”.

I have always bought Anker because I knew they would “just work” almost perfectly. I’ll have to be a little more careful in the future.

WiFi is great but an Ethernet cable gives you the fastest possible internet. My laptop only has USB-C ports so to solve the problem I turned to Anker. They had the right adapter in a couple of different colors to match my laptop.

Now Highspeed internet is available at my disposal. Thanks Anker!.

I was almost going to send this product back, as it wasnt working with my MacBook Air. I was plugging it into my very expensive Apple usb -c adaptor and it wasnt working. After a week of cursing and painful online lessons with bad internet, I plugged it directly into the computer and bingo, it worked a treat.

It works well. It seems quite expensive for what it is, and its size, but it does the trick. Remember, plug it directly into the computer and not an adaptor!.

This adapter did work, but it was incredibly slow: a third of the speed I get from a wireless (WiFi) connection, rendering the adapter useless. I verified this with various speed tests, and the results were consistently bad.

(the ethernet cable I use works great when plugged directly in my desktop computer, so this is 100% the adapter’s fault).

When that shiny new laptop comes without an ethernet port but you need a direct line to your internal server or out to the internet. Belkin is a reliable brand and this adapter is no different. Just plug and play on Windows 10 no drivers required.

Consistently hits the specified gigabit speed running iperf3 to an internal server and does not get unbearably hot like other adapters.

I picked up several of these since our new computers are not shipping with USB-A ports. There is a note inside to download and install the drivers before connecting. I did connect the device without the drivers on a fully updated Windows 10 machine and it worked right away.

I did download the drivers and update it but not sure what it may have fixed as it worked just fine out of the box. Unfortunately there are no indicator lights to know if you are connected which will does not help for troubleshooting (although I did not need to troubleshoot anything).

Just Works!! No drivers needed for macOS!! I got this to use with my late 2016 MacBook Pro 13. Other adapters I’ve tried require drivers. these drivers tend to cause other issues. This unit needs no drives, all I had to do is plug it in! The only drawback I see is that it doesn’t have a link light, but the link is visible in the macOS network preferences.

I use StartTech products where I work and have always had a great experience with that brand. While other brands stop working, StartTech keeps going. This is no exception.

This is a quality product. Unfortunately it does not deliver the 1000 Mbps speeds that a direct ethernet connection does. I hoped this would be better than the Belkin that I have been using. But it delivers the same 600 or so Mbps.

My Anker adapter worked flawlessly on my Kid’s Chromebook, it was a plug and play experience. You can feel the quality construction on the weight, finish and performance.

This Ethernet adapter has been a game-changer for my MacBook Pro, as it’s port-scant nature leaves many macOS users (without the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros that have just been released) requiring plenty of dongles for all accessories except USB-C ones.

The foldable design of the short connector cable is great, and reduces my worries that it could potentially be damaged if it was swinging around loose without a stowaway cut-out section to be secured in, like many other adapter and dongle connection cables unfortunately are.

Being able to access high-speed 1000Base-T Ethernet (1 Gb/s) is great, albeit not being able to reach that speed as the Ethernet is plugged into a Wi-Fi extension node away from the main router, which makes the connection a bit weaker.

But a significant improvement nonetheless, as albeit me getting only 300 Mbps Wi-Fi speed it is still better than the 100 I get on the Vodafone SuperWifi deal when wireless. Another pro of this adapter is that it has reduced my ping and latency by a great deal – I used to be getting a delay of around 10ms, that number has gone all the way down to 3ms (at least on the good days – the Wi-Fi speed undulates).

It’s been especially helpful when playing Fortnite multiplayer, as it increases the image quality on overloaded servers and keeps my connection very stable without the fear of disconnection as with wireless WLAN.

If it weren’t for the narrow, short SINGLE year warranty, this review would’ve been given the 5 star rating but is unfortunately held back. It is a bit of a shame that the warranty wasn’t shown on the marketing specs – but so far so good, the build quality is pretty decent (ofc u can’t have an adapter made of steel all the time, so plastic is used here) and doesn’t look like crumbling under daily usage anytime soon.

To me personally, as another sad con, this adapter is still quite expensive as well for what it is. The price would’ve been more reasonable if it had at least 2-3 years warranty.

This product work’s with Android 11. I own a Motorola Moto G Fast running Android 11 and I just simply plugged it in and it just work’s. It’s simply plug-in-play without any software installation of any kind.

I took some screenshots to compare between being on my home WiFi and using this product. For me personally I seen slight improvements because it’s reducing the ping and latency by not running WiFi. But it’s only slight improvements for myself.

Overall a good product but my only complaint is the USB cable needs to be longer at least 3 inches longer. I’d give it a higher rating if the cable was longer. I can confirm this product doesn’t work on the PlayStation 5 USB-C port on the front of the PS5.

So far so good with this little adapter. I don’t ever expect more than a year from a product like this. I like how the USB connector tucks back into the body of the adapter. I don’t usually need the Gigabit speed but it is nice to know I have it.

As advertised, it was plug and play on my PC. I did have some trouble getting internet connectivity when using DHCP on three network connections: (1) this adapter (2) another USB adapter and (3) my wireless adapter.

The wireless adapter was the only one connected to the internet via my hotspot. My quick fix was to nail down two IP addresses and keep moving forward.

i bought two to use with projectors. they did not work. i sent a e-mail to green. as i wanted to see what they can do to help me to get it working. it is a nice compact unit. to this day i am still waitting for a reply.

do they work with projectors?the projectors have two usb inputs. they have wifi which does screw up some times. i have frontier. i have talked to them about the problems. ethernet is much better. projectors are excellent but are somewhat old.

still work fine. i could use a reply from green soon.

Normally I don’t turn on WiFi at home. I use an Ethernet connection. But whenever I needed an internet connection for my mobile phone, I had to go through the process of logging on to my computer, turning on the WiFi, and then turning off the WiFi when I finished with the phone updates and downloads.

My Samsung Galaxy phone supports an Ethernet connection. This Ethernet to USB-C adapter has made my life so much simpler. It’s plug and play.

As the title says, this adapter works well with the late 2016 Apple MacBook Pro with TouchBar. Hot swapping this adapter between USB-C ports works as expected. Using the SpeedTest application I measure near gigabit speeds using this adapter, similar to rates using a different gigabit adapter I already have that cost twice as much.

I purchased this one to have a second adapter at the office. Granted, I never would have bought this adapter if my MBP and Apple’s USB-C Thunderbolt adapter was flawlessly detecting the LAN connection on the back of my Thunderbolt Display when I plug it into my MBP.

I sometimes have to reboot the MBP to detect the wired network and that’s just plain silly. With this adapter I don’t have that problem, but it costs me a USB-C port. Anyways, I highly recommend this adapter.

This seemed to be the best option on Home Essentials Direct based on price/performance. Set up was a bit involved – you have to download and install a driver – but once you’ve done that it connects a Thunderbolt-only MacBook Air to a router with no fuss.

With many of the new laptops lacking ethernet connectors, this type of adapter becomes necessary. My 9 year old Lenovo T61 recently bit the dust so I replaced it with a Dell 14-5000. This computer is used primarily when I travel and the rest of the time sits on top of a file cabinet attached to my local network where it is synced with my desktop unit.

Since the Dell lacks ethernet, I tried the SIIG adapter and plugged it into the Dell’s USB C port. It works perfectly, even bringing the computer out of hibernate with a Magic Packet. Fast. com indicates I am getting internet download speeds of 270 and uploads of 93 on my 250 Mbps FiOptics connection.

Works great. I use it for work all the time. When setting up wireless routers I like to configure all the settings with a hard wire connection from my thin laptop what does not have a Ethernet port. Works great on USB 3.

0 connection, easily hit full speeds as a true hard wire connection. After many uses I have not had any issues with this product. I can see how it can great easily but obviously you should be careful with your laptop just treat this as an extension to it.

When I’m not using my laptop I disconnect this from the USB port and keep it safe near the laptop.

I works for about 2 minutes….slows down….gets really HOT!!!..then stops working. Disconnected it, allowed to cool off, repeat. Same results. Tossed away over $35 dollars. Not recommended

Purchased because my XPS 13 only has 2 type C USB ports, and when sitting on my desk I would need them for the power adapter and an ethernet adapter. This combines them, but does not include the video adapters of a full size docking station which I don’t need and cause some annoyances.

Tested under Ubuntu 20. 04 plug and play, iperf3 says close to 1 gig speed. Took away one star because it runs warmish when not even connected to power, and when charging is close to hot.

This hub is a nice little adapter. It has an Ethernet port that is actually the fastest I have tested showing 80 upload speed and 12 download. This adapters power port is not useful. I connect my Samsung S8 and the phone shows the charging is so slow it would take 11 hours to fully charge the phone from 32%.

My other adapter can charge my phone in 1 hour. The charger on this hub does work. Phone keeps discharging to 0% while connected to hub.

USB3 to Ethernet adapter. Works with 5 year old Chrome book and with Linux Mint / Ubuntu Kernel 5.8.0-50. Excellent product , well made. Arrived very quickly would buy again.

Originally bought to use on Nintendo Switch, even though it didn’t say it’d work on the page. It doesn’t work with the switch. Plugged it into my laptop, and despite it saying no drivers required, it does come with a driver on the device itself you have to install when you plug it in.

So be aware of that. Otherwise it’s good quality and everything.

Okay, first of all, I don’t write much reviews, but this has to be talked about more! I’ve been lagging wifi speed to my macbook pro in my room for a while and it has been ridiculously slow and frustrating, since I pay for the 400mbps from xfinity, I am only getting 9-10 mbps in my room.

That is a huge waste of money and not taking advantage of what I am paying for it. I decided to get the Cat-6 from best buy for like $10, since it had over 5,000 5-star reviews that it was one of the best ethernet cables out there, my only issue was my macbook did not have a ethernet port, and here comes along “UNI”, a magnificent piece of engineering.

You can see the before and after pictures, the results speak for itself folks! If you want to take full advantage of your wifi provider, do yourself a favor AND BUY THIS THING! Incredible value for this price.

I have a HP Pavilion Laptop with windows 11. As soon as I plug in, I get an alert that my laptop doesn’t recognize the device but when I check internet speed, I have fast speeds of 940 Mbps download and 40 Mbps upload.

But then my laptop would suddenly restart itself and say that it has detected an error. Also during my zoom conference meetings, zoom would drop out or say internet connection unstable. I don’t have this issue when I’m on WiFi.

But maybe this adapter works well on other computers. But not on my HP Pavilion. I found another adapter that works well with my laptop. So I returned this one.

For some strange reason, my new laptop decides that it will connect to every wifi except my home wifi. So, I got this to connect directly to the ethernet cable. Works like a charm. Edit: Forgot to mention that I don’t have the ethernet adapted plugged directly into my laptop.

It’s connected to a multiport adapter which also holds my laptop power cord, mouse/keyboard USB, and my external camera. Still works great even though it’s not connected directly.

I’ve had one of these for over a couple years now that I bought back when the X1 Extreme Gen 3 came out. I absolutely love it! I have yet to have a comparability/driver issue, even when using on several different machines and operating systems.

It holds up physically as well and mine still looks good (although a little scratched up) after 2 years. I highly recommend these!.

Shipping was a little slow as it took 3 weeks to arrive. Documentation stated to go to a website and download the latest driver. On that page there were two drivers available but no indication as to which one I should download so I just plugged it in and it worked.

Lenovo Advantage automatically updated the driver and it worked fine. The adapter works fine and I’m happy with it.

The adapter seems to randomly disconnect from my Windows 10 notebook and reconnect 5 seconds later. This happens several times a day. Nothing in the Windows event log as to why. Not sure if this is a Windows issue or device issue, but I wouldn’t use it for mission critical connections.

Pros: Fantastic internet connection , solid piece of kit very well made. Cons: For me its a bit bulky, but its solid and does the job so the size is arbitrary really.

I use this device most days and am impressed with the high data transfer rate and the low power draw.

I use this adapter to directly connect my chromebook to the modem. Connection always boots right up and is stable. Other brands overheated or had to be rebooted often. I’m very happy.

Needed to hardwire a chromebook to the network and this works perfectly. Price was reasonable. Plugged it in and the chromeobok was able to detect it. Very happy.

I specifically got this for creating a LAN connection for my phone and still being able to charge it. The ethernet is recognized maybe 40% of time, I usually have to restart my phone. And the charging does not work at all.

For reference I’m using a Samsung S10+ and when connecting a charger to it says it’ll be at 100% in 30+ hours. And charging without the adapter says it’ll take 2+ hours. So, the reason I bought it for is basically useless to me.

To sum up, ethernet connection works but is fickle and charging does not work at all when using the adapter. If I’m doing something wrong so be it but this is basically plug and go, pretty simple.

If you are looking for an ethernet adapter and have a relatively new PC or MAC (probably why you are looking at this one) you might have the same problem as me, only USB C ports or may a USB A port if your lucky and certainly not an ethernet port.

So if you want to get directly into a device or just want to have the full speed of your internet when your at your desk you need a converter of some kind. I have one windows tablet that’s only port is USB C, This little dongle is worth it since it has pass through power.

When I’m limited on ports that can be extremely important. I like the size of this as I have a kit of different dongles, chargers, cords, pens, etc. that lives in my backpack for when I’m different places (not currently in the constant use it once was with the current state of affairs).

If you are at your desk constantly a usb c hub might be a more condensed solution for you but if you are looking for a device for you to be able to hardwire in on the go that is small (like at hotels or on devices in the field) I think this is a good little device for that and I would definitely recommend getting the pass through power (I have one without it and I have found myself stuck with a dead computer and the need to connect to a device and have a USB in the other port in the field and had to wait for some battery).

Overall it does it job, my one concern is it does get warm, not like ouch that hurts but more like a oh that’s nice and warm. This will most likely depend on how dead your laptop is and one could look at it as a bonus if your in a none heated room in the winter I suppose as it would make a perfect handwarmer.

To the functionality of it. I tried it on Windows 10 and Windows 10 running on ARM, both were recognized immediately and switched over to the LAN connection so that side of the functionality is great.

Also with this being in my travel bag I do wish the cord wrapped a little easier, maybe started on one side instead of the middle and had a notched area on the other side, but at this point that is just me wishing for something that I haven’t really seen anywhere.

Pros: nice size usb thru charge Higher wattage charging (mine take up to 45W so I know that works at least) Cons: Gets warm.

This USBC Ethernet adapter is incredible! It is extremely fast and has no issues whatsoever. Some of the other reviews here are pretty lame. I would not listen to any of them since they clearly don’t know anything about technology.

The guy who complained about this not working on his Samsung product clearly doesn’t know how to read. This product does not support Samsung or AppleTV products. This product is highly efficient and works perfectly.

Plus, a USBC adapter is faster than the standard USB adapter anyways. I would highly recommend you get this product. Again, don’t listen to the one and two star reviews on here because the aren’t relevant.

I’ve been using this adapter for over a week now, and I have to say that I’m very impressed with it! My new Windows 11 laptop did not come with an Ethernet jack, so I figured I would try this. I don’t have any USB-C devices, so I felt this device was my best option to utilize this port.

I connected this unit to my router using a CAT 6 cable, and I am consistently getting 950 Mbps download speeds on my Comcast 800 Mbps service! I feel that this adapter is quality made, and I really like the braided cable.

This USB-C to Ethernet Adapter seems to be well-made. The cord is flexible, yet doesn’t feel too flimsy. It also seems to be well attached to the unit. The USB-C male end fit into my tablet like it should.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find an app for my tablet that used the device that seemed to be legit. I thought that I’d found one before I bought this device, but when I tried to use it with the app, nothing happened.

I tried a couple of others and same result. So, I can’t say for sure if the device works properly or not. I’m keeping it in case a future laptop that we get has USB-C instead of USB-A ports as I currently have a device like this plugged into our laptop and it works well for bypassing the faulty built-in ethernet port.
