20 Best Essential Oil For Air Freshener (2023 Updated)

This is one of my favourite refills for the mist diffuser. It has a lovely orange blossom & lime scent that feels natural and importantly it also isn’t overpowering. I like to use my on a medium setting, I’ve had it for nearly a month now and it’s still going strong, these refills really do last a long time.

I love the inclusion of essential oils inside the product, it definitely makes the mist diffuser a much more premium option compared to a traditional air freshener while still being great value. Highly recommend for any room in the house, remember you can always experiment with the different intensity settings on the diffuser if you’d like to increase or decrease how much the scent fills the room and thanks to the timer it won’t go off during the night.

I’m so sad about this item. I was so happy when I first got it, it worked so good for like 5 months in my bedroom. I moved it to the bathroom and it worked for a week and finally gave up just like everyone says in the comments.

It started making a loud whistle noise. I also noticed the little oil bottle would be so oily. So it was wasting product and nothing was coming out I no longer smelled anything mind you my whole bedroom would smell for days.

It would let out mist every few hours but yeah it stopped and it’s not the batteries. I really wanted to love it especially because it’s nice and small. Plus the oils smell great but… guess not.

I’ve owned mine for 3 yrs now, no problems no glitches. We buy the Lavender Almond blossom, it’s a scent that both myself & my hubby really like. THANK YOU Airwick for not cancelling this scent. I’ve been discouraged in the past by investing in a unit & introduction scent only to have the scent(s) discontinued.

So thanks!!! I have 1 major suggestion, could you do a unit that can be recharged via USB? It would be a much greener approach and a “Thanks” to mother nature for providing such awesome essential scents!!! YAY!!! Beat the competition and be the 1st to do it.

Also, could you do a simple cherry scent? Love this and highly recommend!.

I am so disappointed with Air Wick and this new “Smells Amazingly Natural”. That is so far from the truth. The new scent has been nauseating at best. Everyone that stepping into my house asked what that smell was.

Needless to say, we no longer buy Air Wick Scents. I’d say even worse than that, all these review on their own website express the same thing. I am so disappointed that there has been zero response from the “marketing team” whom I was told would get back to me.

I would hope that all these reviews would be enough to fix what they broke! It was not broke to begin with so Go back to the previous version which actually smelled like Lavender.

I have 5 air wick plug-ins and always have used them but lately seems like the smell dissipates faster. I switched to the essential oils as I assume that is healthier. ? So I guess that is clearly why, but now I am having to rethink everything since I can’t afford to buy these constantly!!! I have them on the strongest level and after a week I realize it is burnt out ugh.

Not sure what I’m going to do, but essential oils must be chemical free and therefore I should be not endangering my family with the other ones.

I am so happy I choose this scent. It is a wonderful fruity smelling scent, and it truly smells fantastic. It has a hint of pink papaya with a main vanilla scent. The warmer its self functions great, and it truly filled the whole house with the scent.

I like the fact it has several settings, to choose just how fragrant you want it to be. For example, sometimes i want to cover the dirty diaper smell from my toddler’s most recent diaper, but other times i have a headache, and do not want to be overwhelmed by scents that make it worse.

I thought it was nicely packaged as well. It’s easy to open, and i like the fact that each bottle of oil has a screw cap on it, to ensure there are no leaks when storing. However, if you unplug the warmer and lay it on it’s side or upside-down it will leak, just so you know.

Overall a great product though, i’m excited to try new scents in the future.

I purchased this new scent from airwick (Vanilla and Pink Papaya) on a whim a few weeks ago. I needed to replace the the air freshener in my mudroom and my son’s bedroom. My son is very active in sports so his room usually smells like musty sweat.

I will not even go into the smell of our mudroom as it houses everyone’s shoes. I am blown away by the smell of this air freshener. It smells so beautiful and just fills my whole house with fragrance.

My mud room and son’s room both smell amazing. I just LOVE this scent and it has become my new go to scent.

I absolutely love this little diffuser. I have purchased 6 for my house, 2 for my shared office at work and 1 for my vehicle. A couple of my co-worker are not fond of the scent that purchased and that why I’m writing this.

I had hoped that Air Wick offered a sampler bottle kit. Recently, I purchased an essential oils diffuser for my wife that came with 12 small bottles of oils for the diffuser. If Air Wick had a kit with all the available scents, I would certainly be the first to buy it.

I was excited about receiving this product because it looks sleek and non-discreet and the scents appear to be good. I am a huge fan of Lavender so I was especially excited to try this. I am slightly disappointed in the scent.

There is no Lavender smell at all! It only smells like Almond Blossom. Almond Blossom does smell nice so it’s not too bad but there is no Lavender scent at all. Another big thing that I don’t like is on the lowest setting you can’t really smell it at all, and you can only slightly smell it on the middle setting.

You only get the full effect on the highest setting, which at that level I doubt it truly lasts for 45 days. On the highest level the smell traveled from the office on the second floor all the way down to the front door in the living room, that scent filled the entire upstairs and downstairs inside the house.

Even though that’s good at the highest level I don’t think it will last 45 days. It’s an okay investment if you are considering something that will give your home a nice scent before company comes or when you have guests in your home, but to have something that constantly scents your home, I would be prepared to buy these more frequently because they won’t make it 45 days on the highest setting where you can truly smell them.

I don’t normally use air fresheners. I sometimes use essential oils or incense, depending on mood. I veer away from air fresheners possibly because of unknown chemicals, but more so that I don’t want to smell something really cloying that maybe belongs in a urinal.

I was really surprised by this fragrance oil. It smells quite good. I smell lavender, vanilla and ‘clean/fresh. ‘ The unit comes pre packed with an oil and batteries. There are three settings that control how often it emits scent.

I was somewhat disappointed to find that this product can only be reused with an appropriate refill. I think the marketing on the package leads you to believe it’s an essential oil diffuser. It might work in a similar fashion, but you’re not going to diffuse your own oils in this.

The unit itself is designed to look clean and sleek. The blue LED is off until it dispenses scent. The timer has three different functions. The unit is set to run on an 8hr cycle and then it turns off.

No forgetting about this one. Would think this would be really good in an office or small store setting.

I love the light mist from this machine. The oils dude produce a stronger scent with the continuos use button. When I use the other setting it goes for 10 minutes and then stops for 20 minutes. In the morning I use the continuous for an hour and then switch to the other setting.

The bathroom and my bedroom smell fresh with no strong headache inflaming fragrance. I use lavendar and notice it when I first walk into the room and then just notice clean air smell. What a pleasure to bathe in my bathroom now.

I feel like its a pleasure to walk into my bathroom which is attached to my bedroom. I shut this off at night and in the morning sprinkle more lavender oil and refill the water and voila another perfect day.

Purchased a diffuser from Sharper Image and now buy all my essentials oils from them. My absolute favorite (which came as a great surprise) was the “Green Tea”! Marvelous fragrance, not too heavy or sweet.

Everyone who has been to my home has commented on it and said that they had never smelled such a fresh and wonderful fragrance before. Who would have thought with a name like “Green Tea”. Prior to this I had always purchased the Cinnamon which is also nice.

Sharper Image offers a few high-quality essential oils that blend well and are very pleasant and easy to use. They are easy to dispense into your Ultrasonic Aromatherapy Diffuser, and mix well with water.

My favorites are the Eucalyptus and Lemon Grass.

As far as essential oils go this is not a favorite of mine but its not horrible. The eucalyptus has a weirdly chemical smell to it, almost like an artificial sweetener (and I have several brands to compare this one too including YL, DT and PT).

I use them to help keep the smell of teenagers and dogs down in the house.

I absolutely love the NoW essential oils products. They are long lasting and fantastic to create your own potion. I have my favorite scents but the product is so good that I never afraid of bringing a new one home.

I bought three of these. The first two were the older design. One of those leaked oil on a table somehow. I figured best to get this new design which has the flat top. Well after only 3 months it is no longer working.

It will emit mist if I turn it off and then on, but then nothing after that. The Airwick website doesn’t offer any good advice on what to do. Other people having the same problem had ideas but I really don’t think an item so new should be having problems.

Great idea, nice scents, but just not worth the cost or hassle if it is only going to last 3 months.

This spray is gorgeous. The fragrance is light and natural. The one drawback is the top. The sprayer unit. I initially bought a bottle while shopping at my local WalMart. When I got home, I found that half the bottle had leaked into the bottom of the bag.

I figured it was a one-off. I loved the fragrance so much that I ordered delivery this time and again, it leaked from the bottles. luckily it was enclosed in a baggie. I will continue to purchase it, as I’m certain they will continue to be leaky bottles.

This may well be the very best air freshener that I have ever used! And the smell is just t-tom-terrific. (Pure Citrus used to make a great all-natural vanilla spray but that seems to have been discontinued).

And it looks like this single bottle of spray might last literally for years (thus am afraid it may not be available again when I would need to replace it. ). Sandalwood.

I love this fragrance. Smells so good. I’ve always liked sandalwood. This spray has vanilla too so it’s a double winner. I spray on my pillowcase lightly before going to bed. I spray a couple of sprays in the air and the scent last a long time.

You won’t be disappointed.

The first scent I tried was Linen. I did not care for it, it reminded me of the soap and then dryer smell of doing laundry. I then bought the Lavender and Chamomile and I loved it!! The scent permeates throughout the first level of my house and it isn’t overpowering.

You walk into my house through the mudroom and you immediately smell a lite, clean smell. Nowhere can you smell my boys sport bags or our dog. It is better than having a scented candle burning all day! I definitely will be trying other scents.

I love the smell of my house when using Air Wick/Lysol Fresh Linen Plugins! I’ve never really been a fan of the fresh linen scent, but the Air Wick Plugins smell amazing, and my whole house smells clean and fresh! These don’t last quite as long as other products that I have tried, but I like the scents that Air Wick has much better than others on the market.

I have already purchased these in the past, and I continue to purchase them because they are highly scented, and I can put one in each room to keep my whole home smelling great. I would definitely recommend these to friends, and family, and I purchased some for my mother so that she can enjoy them as much as my family and I do!.

I’ve been a long time user of the Air Wick scented oil refill plug ins for some time now and I think the fresh linen is my favorite scent. It smells like clothes that have been hung outside to dry. It’s a fresh, clean smell.

It’s very fragrant and just on the lowest setting, I can smell it throughout my entire house. I always get so many compliments on this fragrance. I definitely recommend as you won’t be disappointed at all.

I recently purchased this scent and I have to say that I am impressed. It smells as though you’ve just taken a nice long warm bath and the scent of the shower is just lingering on. I seriously was not expecting it to smell this good and soothing.

It is strong but not overpowering, it’s just a lovely scent. I love walking in my house to this scent I get excited. Again guys it is not your typical vanilla scent, I thought it would be as well it is not.

That brown sugar and whatever chemistry that is used to make this definitely enhanced it and gives it a kick. I’m definitely stocking up before they discontinue this. If executives are reading this DONT, IT IS BOMB!.

Oh my this is the BEST smell! I love it please don’t discontinue this item. This is my very favorite scent now. It smells like being at Grandma’s house its strong but not OMGosh I can’t breathe kind of smell.

You can smell it thru out the house. Try it you’ll love it. The hit of the brown sugar is so sweet with the vanilla.

I got the 2 pack of Air Wick’s Brown Sugar Vanilla. It smells soooo good! It reminds me of a cookie with brown sugar vanilla extract. It’s sweet, but not too sweet. I plugged it in my bedroom it makes the room smell great! I plan on buying more before they run out because this has become one of my top favorite plug in scents.

The new lavender and chamomile does not compare to the previous scent. I hardly ever write reviews but I feel strongly enough about the loss of the previous Lavender and Chamomile Air Freshener to take the time to write this.

There was a pleasant and non-cloying quality to the old Lavender and Chamomile that I really loved. I am very disappointed in the new scent and am curious why Air Wick felt the need to change the fragrance formula? I immediately noticed the difference and not in a good way.

I won’t be purchasing this fragrance anymore unless the old scent can be restored. The new scent is overtly sweet and not appealing to me.

I have used the lavender scent for years and it made our house have such a fantastic smell. It is the only scent I would use and would often receive compliments about how good our house smelled. I recently purchased the new lavender scent and could immediately tell a difference.

It is no longer a nice smell but, instead, an overly sweet floral scent that does not resemble lavender. It also gave me a headache within a very short time. I am very disappointed and will no longer be buying Plug Ins, as this is the only scent I would use.

Unless the original scent is brought back, I am sorry to say you have lost a lifelong customer.

This used to be a nice, pleasant fragrance. Now, it is one of the most toxic, unpleasant, disgusting, even nauseating scents you will ever experience. If you have a discerning sense of smell, you will not be able to keep this new fragrance in the diffuser for longer than three minutes, and even then, you may have caused a longer-lasting disaster than you bargained for.

The kicker is the new label on the box that says, “New! Smells Amazingly Natural!” Oh, my gosh, what a stretch. This takes the record for the most un-natural fragrance I have ever experienced. Think of an awful, concentrated cleaning fluid, combined with poisonous fireproofing chemicals, and this new fragrance might even be worse.

This is so bad, it had to be intentional. No one that wanted satisfied and/or repeat customers would EVER put out a product like this, especially after ALL the reviews are the worst possible. What an insult.

I will NEVER trust an Air Wick product again.

I’ve been using Shanti creations for a few years now, everything is always amazing, ships quickly.

I really enjoyed the AirWick plug in starter kit. I received apple cinnamon and boy. does it smell so good! What I liked most about this product is that it has five different settings on it for the dispenser to release the scent.

He starter kit comes with three refills and the dispenser. What is awesome is that if you have this on low setting, one of the refills will last for 60 days! Now, that’s a pretty long time. The scent takes you to the caribbean.

Smells so good! A great product to own and have. You can put it just about anywhere you have an outlet. Bathroom, kitchen, living room, dining room, bedroom, etc. Put one in every room and the scent of apple cinnamon will be covered in your household.
