20 Best Ergonomic Pillow For Side Sleepers (2023 Updated)

I bought this cervical foam pillow a year ago because I had constant sore and stiff right side of my neck. I saw the advertisement about this pillow online and thought I must try it. For me it did not help my problem.

My neck still sore and stiff, the back of my head felt burning hot during the night and the pain also extends to the top of my scalp. When running fingers through my hair on top of my head experienced soreness.

I am now back to using normal soft pillows after also trying the firm and medium ones.

I love my pillow. Helps so much with my neck and shoulder pain and has the perfect amount of support in all the right places. I was worried it wouldn’t be comfortable for side sleeping, but it is! So glad I got it! Tip: let it air out for 3 days before you get it.

It has a strong odor when you open the package so I was concerned since I’m highly sensitive to smells. However, after it aired out for a couple days there was no smell at all. Anyway, I’d highly recommend this pillow!.

Do not buy this pillow. It’s a generic foam molded chunk of low quality memory foam. You can buy the exact same non branded pillow from any drop shipper in Ebay for $15. It arrived via Chinese SpeedPak, had no labels, and a very pungent scent.

Absolutely feel duped out of $50. Going to file a complaint with PayPal to see if I can get my money back without having to pay an exorbitant amount in shipping fees to some obscure address in France.

I’ve had neck issues for decades due to a car accident when I was young. I’ve tried more “cervical support” pillows over the years than I care to admit. I have to say this pillow is better than ANY of the others I’ve tried.

I’ve only slept with this pillow one night and it felt like a dream. My neck and head felt completely supported, yet it felt super comfortable too. I actually felt like my head was floating when laying on my back.

Ahhhh… I slept for 7+ hours without any tossing or turning. I woke in the same position I fell asleep in which is very rare for me. I also tested lying on my side this morning and love how it keeps my neck and head in neutral alignment on my side too.

My hands did not go numb and tingly like they usually do when I lay on my side. It felt so good to wake up feeling so refreshed! My neck and shoulders felt completely relaxed upon waking – no severe morning stiffness like I typically experience and I had improved range of motion in my neck too.

I also suffer from tinnitus and it always seems to get louder when my neck gets very stiff. I noticed a significant decrease in my tinnitus this morning too. Thanks for designing such a great product, shipping it so quickly (received in two days), and it’s packaged beautifully too.

I purchased two and plan to give the other one to my brother who recently had neck surgery. I think it will be perfect for him too!.

I wanted to love this pillow so much. I’ve read the articles and great reviews, so I decided to give this pillow a try. The first night was horrible – the pillow is very firm and it takes time to get used to it.

I barely slept for the first initial nights. I then got used to sleeping on it, but I noticed that the neck ramp is not designed for everyone. I’m on the short side (about 5 feet) and noticed I had to stretch out my neck so my head would fit in the concaved head basin.

This caused me to have frequent headaches and neck pain, which eventually led to to radial nerve palsy. I’m getting physical therapy to treat it. I’m not sure if the folks loving the pillow are over a certain height, but it really damaged my body.

If you’re on the shorter side, I’d strongly advise to stay away from this, or consult with a doctor before buying it as it could have serious side effects.

I hesitated to purchase this pillow as I’ve tried so many in the past and have given them away. I use a CPAP so sleep mostly on my sides but also wanted something that wasn’t hard. This is also large enough to meet my needs.

There is give so it isn’t hard but it is somewhat firm. My neck feels totally supported and in perfect alignment and for the first time my shoulders are perfectly comfortable. The one disappointment for me is that it looks like there is a “Trough” (dip) horizontally going through the length of the pillow.

That’s exactly what I wanted so my ears aren’t crushed all night long! Unfortunately it’s barely there and not deep enough to keep my ears off of the pillow. Otherwise it’s a winner for me. Please offer it with a deeper trough.

I purchased two of these Comfy pillows. I decided to use me and I love it. I’ve been dealing with neck pain for about 1 1/2 months. Sleeping on this product for a few hours and neck pain is gone. It has a strange smell but getting use too it.

Blue side keeps head from sweating. I just wish it had more height to it but overall I LOVE THIS PRODUCT THUS FAR. Yes, I’d order it again.

I have been using it for more than 2 weeks. Before using this product, I sometimes woke up with headaches. I haven’t felt headaches for two weeks and I am very happy for now. It has a form between hard and soft.

I also like the curved part, I think it makes me more comfortable, at least psychologically 🙂 One more important point, it definitely shortened my time to fall asleep.

I LOVE this pillow! I have had all kinds of problems with waking up with a stiff neck and both arms being asleep. The notch in this pillow leaves a place for my shoulder (I’m a side sleeper) and my arms don’t go to sleep and I am not waking up with a stiff neck anymore.

The cold side is very cold. I am actually cold natured and have to sleep on the regular side or I freeze. I am glad I finally found a pillow that helps me sleep better and wake up in no pain! I will be ordering another one for my husband soon.

I really wanted to love this pillow. I love the shape and how it curves around me. It’s amazingly comfortable. I had to adjust the stuffing to make it the perfect fit for me. There are easy directions and a video to show you how to do that.

It took about 2 minutes. It seems to stay cooler than my memory foam pillow. All in all it’s a great pillow. Now the one down side that I just can’t get past. It smells. a lot. I know that memory foam will smell for a day or so after you receive and unpack it but I’ve had this pillow for over a week and it still smells.

The directions say to leave it out in the sun for a day to get rid of the smell. I did that repeatedly. After 3 days outside in the sun and fresh air I still smell it. I’m sure the smell will fade in time and this will be the most amazing pillow ever when that happens but as of today I just can’t sleep with that memory foam smell.

I recommend this pillow if you want to wait a month or so airing it out before you use it. Otherwise try something else. I really look forward to the day when this pillow doesn’t smell any more so that I can sleep with it.

These pillows are hard, not flexible like real memory foam, in fact I took some of the so called memory foam out of one, thinking that would make it softer, but it is still hard. And, to make matters worse, the filling is really strange, with some VERY hard pieces, strange coloring.

it doesn’t appear to be memory foam as I have seen in other pillows I purchased in the past. The odor is disgusting; let them air out for several days before using, but still have odor. I think I will have to return to store, but threw out packaging.

hard to find pillows that retain shape and firmness. I’m a side sleeper and these pillows stay true to shape and firm throughout the nite. they do not sink in or lose support like many others I have tried.

not good. I have a Hollander pillow I purchased two years ago. it is different from what I bought because I could not find the same one on line. the new one is so fat that it gave me a headache. because my neck is not in the right position.

I am a side sleeper and I showed it to my chiropractor and he said it is entirely too high and my alignment would be off. This is advertised as a pillow for side sleeper but it is way high. I’d like to return it but by the time I pay shipping of $13 i might as well keep it for someone else.

I used it two nights with a towel over it to keep clean incase it did not work for me. very disappointing!.

I was looking for a super comfy pillow like the ones I used while staying at a vacation house. I thought these might be “the ones”. They’re okay. Not exactly what I was looking for. They flatten out and push the stuffing up the pillow while sleeping on it so I’m constantly adjusting the pillow through the night.

They fluff right up in the morning when I make my bed and look nice, but I’m kinda disappointed with them for sleeping. Needless to say I am still on the hunt for the perfect ones!.

Good support without being too firm. The shape really helps prevent neck strain and is really comfortable for side, back, or tummy sleepers. It isn’t noticeably cool but helps me not overheat like I did with other pillows (it can feel colder with the bamboo pillow case since I have that and the original velour case).

It’s not super thick or heavy which is what I prefer. If you want a super thick high pillow, this is not it. When it arrives, you need to air it out because of the chemical smell. In the surface of the pillow, some areas are hardened like if plastic was heated and melted.

It was negligible but still they need to maintain a higher standard of quality of they’re selling them for over $50.

I’ve been looking for an L shaped pillow for months. I had one before but it wasn’t a gel one. This one is perfect! It’s bigger than I thought it would be but I love it. It was a steal at BB&B compared to purchasing it from the Malouf site.

The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is because on one side of the pillow there are some dents/air pockets. I didn’t want to go through the trouble of returning it and waiting for another one.

I was on a hunt for the best pillow of all time; after over a year of searching and trying many different pillows, the Casper Hybrid Pillow is a treasure find of pillows! I have an old neck injury with related chronic pain and headaches, and finding a pillow that supports me in all the right ways has been a challenge.

The Hybrid Pillow not only supports me well, it’s also incredibly comfortable, has a cloud-like “squish” like a real pillow while never losing its shape, and I look forward to sleeping on it night after night.

I’m 5’7” with a small frame, predominantly a side and stomach sleeper, and after trying both the low loft and mid loft sizes, I went with mid loft for its additional support under my head and neck, promoting better alignment for my neck and spine.

I find the mid-loft pillow fits better in pillow cases as well (less moving about within the pillow case and less loose fabric to contend with at night). I also heat up at night and tried the Casper Foam Pillow with Snow technology for comparison.

In my experience I didn’t notice a significant cooling difference/effect with Snow Technology and I far prefer the feel and support of the Hybrid Pillow. I got the king-size pillow, as our dog often shares the pillow with me (true story).

I have a hard time getting a good night’s rest, so I did a lot of research to find a good quality pillow. I looked into many of the name brands of some of the top pillow companies and bought five of them to test, they are: the Kayla Kapok pillow, Coop Original pillow, Coop Premium Eden pillow, Casper Original pillow and the Casper Hybrid pillow.

I tested all of the pillows that I mentioned above, and I must say they are all wonderful pillows. However, the “Casper Hybrid pillow” prevailed over all the other pillows. I have had some of the best sleep with this pillow.

I told my wife how much I approve of the Casper Hybrid pillow and how wonderful it is. I almost felt that I was cheating on my wife in bed with my mistress Casper Hybrid pillow. My wife wanted to sleep with this pillow, so I let her borrow it, as a good husband should.

Now we fight over who gets to sleep with this pillow… Surely, we are going to buy more of these Casper Hybrids. Also worth mentioning is that my oldest daughter’s favorite pillow is the Casper Original pillow.

I’m a huge fan of Casper’s Original Pillow but sometimes it isn’t supportive enough for a toss-and-turn sleeper like myself. The foam pillow is too stiff for my comfort level, but the Hybrid Pillow truly mixes the supportive firmness with the soft, cradling of your head and neck.

It has taken me a few weeks to get it situated and get used to the slightly firmer “fluff” that I am used to, but I have not had any neck pain waking up the next morning. I have a queen size bed but got a king size pillow to give my head more “real estate” as I move throughout the night.

I recommend trying this out if you feel like Goldilocks with your current pillow situation.

side sleeper here with, female with broad shoulders. This is the fifth contour pillow I had had to alleviate neck pain and arm and hand numbness. Three others I loved, but they wore out quickly, one other was a super hard foam that was the right shape but gave me a headache because the foam was too hard (not memory foam).

After reading reviews, I thought this pillow might be the best of all worlds of contour pillows. However, what I found is that the memory foam was too hard after a while of sleeping (or trying to sleep) on it, whiuc is crazy because initially I thought the foam so soft that I figured there was no way the pillow was going to be supportive.

so, too hard for my preferences. Also, and this is probably the worst part for me, although the rounded ends are high enough for my broad shoulders, they are too rounded on the high ends to fit comfortably under my neck the way I like it.

instead, my head actually lays in the rounded part, instead of sinking into the dip in the middle. This throws my body out of alignment, with my head sitting too high compared to the rest of my body, putting strain on my neck.

Lastly, the dip in the middle is not wide enough from front to back of the pillow, so if I try to use the flatter side of the pillow, my head actually sits partly in the larger side, again angling my head and causing my neck to be strained.

so, I am returning the pillow and going on the hunt for another one. in the plus side, there is nothing wrong with the workmanship, and I love the idea of the adjustability, but given the other things that don’t work for me (the too-rounded large side, and the too narrow dip in the middle), the adjustability just didn’t help me at all.

Great concept, though, and I wish more pillows had this option.

The pillow arrives very compactly packaged But once out of the box, it springs into shape within a few minutes. It had no odor and appeared to be of good quality. I let it sit for the full recommended 48 hours before using it.

I have been using a contoured pillow for the past 7 years so was familiar with the feel. This pillow is not as firm as some but still gives good support. I tried it out for 2 nights and was happy with it.

I will be using it for traveling since most hotels have terrible pillows.

I bought this pillow 4 months ago for my college age son. He already had a pillow like this and wanted another one. I was able to find the desired memory foam fill at Bed, Bath and Beyond. The delivery was fast, and the price was cheaper than other vendors.

My son is enjoying his pillow! It is comfortable for sleeping, and he said the pillow stays at a cool temperature. I will buy again when needed.

I was super excited to see a side-sleeper foam pillow that wasn’t contoured, and it had decent reviews. First thing I noticed was how heavy it is. Not only heavier than regular pillows, but heavier than other foam pillows too.

I actually did like this about it as it kept it in place rather than sliding away from my head, but it is in no way suitable for scrunching up under your head. I also liked the quilted cover on it, it made it feel more like a regular pillow that the old foam ones that had nothing but a pillowcase on it and didn’t feel soft on the cheek.

But was it cooler than any of my other ones? I didn’t notice any difference. If you are basing your purchase on that aspect, you’ll probably be disappointed. But what made this pillow a bust for me was the actual shape.

It was so flat that I woke up with a worse sore neck and shoulders than with my regular pillow (the reason I wanted to switch types). It’s so heavy that I couldn’t use another pillow underneath because it would just slide off it, and using another pillow on top just defeats the purpose.

The foam is probably 4″ high, which doesn’t look too bad, but by the time you lay your head on it and it squishes down, you only have about 2 1/2″ of support. And because the foam is so soft, it doesn’t support the neck at all.

I could have gotten used to it being flat I think, but not without support under the neck. I ended up returning this and choose and Izo Contoured Pillow. It was $20 cheaper, and for the first time in 3 years, I’ve woke up without being completely stiff in the morning.

I actually purchased this exact pillow for my wife 4 years ago at a specialty chain store for almost twice the price! It went by a slightly different name then, but is definitely the same pillow. That’s why I jumped on this one when I found it! Since then, they have upgraded the pillow a bit with some colored piping on the edges and a “stocking” type sleeve to go around the actual foam so you don’t feel it’s weird texture even when pulling it out of its cover.

It also has one side that has a more breathable (but stiffer) material so that you can get the full effect of the cooling sensation. The material softens up with use. This pillow is by far the most comfortable pillow I’ve put my head on! Down, fiber, and styrofoam filled pillows don’t even compare to a good memory foam pillow like this one.

I usually sleep with 2 pillows, but since I’ve gotten this IsoCool I’ve only used this one. This is a VERY small price to pay for a pillow that WILL last you years, especially if you get a pillow protector to go with it.

I used to steal my wife’s pillow if she had to go to work before me and get a couple hours sleep with this pillow, but now I finally have my own. I know this sounds like an infomercial, but I seriously recommend this pillow, or at least a quality memory foam like it.

It won’t solve all your sleep problems, but it definitely will give you some much deserved comfort during sleep.

This pillow feels great! I lay my head on it, and I feel relieved immediately. However, if you like a firmer pillow (like I do) you might want to look elsewhere. I’m someone who sleeps on my side, and prefers a lot of support when sleeping on my side.

This pillow does not provide that. This pillow has a lot of cushion, and sinks in when there’s weight on it. The few times I’ve slept on my back, though? Wonderful. Beautiful. This pillow is definitely for someone who likes a barely firm pillow and sleeps on their back exclusively.

Quick delivery. It worked when position correctly. Had to be in exact position. Worked immediately to the point of no pain. Majority of healing is your pillow. Nearing recovery after over a month since unjury.

Thank you very much. Even got used to side sleeping. Before all sleeping was flat on my back with a level spine.

I have a big head and long neck so I appreciate how each end of the pillow is a different size for tall and short people. The raised edges keep your head in place while letting you side sleep too. The memory foam is absolutely great, other memory foam pillows feel stuffy or warm whereas this pillow is cool with the right amount of firmness.

This is a must buy!!!! Totally worth the investment!!!!.

I have an older version and it’s somehow more dense and more squared off in the edges, which I like more than this new version. This new pillow is nice, and I’m keeping it, but the old one was much better.

Even though I rated it good value (yes or no option) it is expensive for a pillow. However, at the moment it is extremely comfortable. Far cheaper than umpteen chiropractor sessions. The best pillow I have ever had.

I have suffered with neck pain for years, but no more. I hope it lasts.

I really don’t understand why everyone raves about this pillow. I gave it a good try, persevered with it for a few nights, but ultimately it made my neck pain worse. The ‘dip’ in the centre was still too high for my head when I slept on my back, giving me pain.

When sleeping on your side you have to shift your head to the right or left of the dip. I found that in this position my head just kept slipping back into the dip, leaving me without the support I needed and worsening my shoulder pain.

I also felt that the height of the pillow was not enough for me on my side. And it’s not particularly comfortable. I would like to return the pillow but the terms state that it must be inside all of its original packaging.

How are you supposed to squeeze the pillow back into that tiny box and bag?! I also made the mistake of purchasing a pillow case, thinking it would be shaped in some way to match the pillow. Nope. It’s just a standard size pillow case.

And of course, it can’t be be returned if you hate the pillow. Overall, this product is just a scheme to con you.

Like many, have been through many, many pillows over my lifetime. So we figured what the heck, cant be any worse than what weve bought already. Of late have been suffering from sciatica like symptoms in my leg, as well as interrupted sleep.

We both bought one of these pillows about a month ago, and whilst initially very sceptical, I can report my leg/hips are now pain free, and only wake once in the night for the loo (Gent of a certain age lol).

It took a couple of nights to get used to (being a previous double pillow user), but surprisingly it didnt take long at all. Been sleeping on it for about a month now, and everything is still very good.

I side sleep and no issues here either. Longevity of shape and integrity have yet to be fully tested, but think it will hold up for some time. Very, VERY happy we took the plunge, and has certainly improved both my sleep quality, and posture is obviously helped.

If you get one, you have to throw away all previous conceptions of what was/is a pillow, all I can say is that for me it has WORKED.

When I first used this I found it a very strange experience. I was used to a memory foam pillow but this was much firmer and didn’t give as much. I stuck with it and it probably took a good month to really get used to it, but I’m glad I did as the awful neck tingling sensations I have had for over a year have finally disappeared and I can only put it down to this pillow as nothing else has worked.

I mentioned the pillow to the physio I’ve been seeing for my neck and he was amazed as he has recently started recommending it to patients. Validation for him and me! It’s a total game changer for me and I really can’t recommend it enough – you just have to make sure you give it plenty of time to get used to it.

My only slight gripe is that I bought a tailored pillowcase to go with it at quite a steep £14. 99 and it is far too big for the pillow. It has shrunk somewhat over 4-5 washes, but at the price it should fit perfectly in my opinion.

Alternative colours to white would also be a nice option as I for one have black bedding. Just a thought.

I have struggled recently with sleep with recent developments in our household. Ultimately with the lack of sleep I decided I needed to help myself get as comfortable as possible with so much uncertainty.

We went with a Tempur Pedic pillows and they are great. Our sleep has improved and thus I wake up less during the night. Unfortunately I have struggled at times with sleep, but the new purchase of the pillows has helped immensely.

We definitely recommend anything Tempur Pedic. We recently purchased a Tempur Pedic mattress as well. Together they are an incredible combination and pretty much unbeatable. The price of the products were substantial, but we regret waiting too long to make the purchase.

A mistake we are glad we were able to remedy and can now appreciate even more. Don’t make the same mistake we did and capitalize on the opportunity sooner than later. Its seems strange, but a lot of our aches and pains have been reduced exponentially with respect to the back, knees and shoulder.

Great for someone that needs neck support. Helped me out tremendously when I needed it. Downfall is it’s EXTREMELY hard/ firm. So it’s not the most comfortable. I also wish it was a bit more affordable for a pillow.

Overall it’s a great pillow for those who need the neck support.

My husband has slept on this exact pillow for over 25 yrs. After spending much too much money on high end pillows and returns, or just wasted money, I finally found this same pillow here!!! And gave it a try.

Perfect!!!! Not at all brick hard like other foam pillows, but soft enough for some give, yet the support I need. I am for reference, 5. 1, and petite. Most pillows are too soft, or too firm and hurt my ears, or jack my head way too high.

I had a stiff neck every morning until I slept one night on this pillow. The lower side is just right for me. I can’t believe I never tried my husband’s, other than I thought it would be brick hard and not fit me.

This is the second time I have purchased this pillow for my son. He has neck issues and is very particular about his pillow. He has been using the Company store contour pillow for at least two years.

I got him a new one for Christmas, because nothing lasts forever, but this pillow is still in great shape! The one criticism is the soft pillow case. It seems to pill after repeated washings. We would prefer a smooth pillow case.

Tried several pillows over the past year on Amazon with no luck. Either too hard, too soft, middle of pillow goes flat after a few weeks or you can’t adjust it to fit under your head or neck. This one moves around and fits the way you like it and doesn’t sag in the middle because the inner stuffing is loose inside like a down pillow.

You can plump it up where you need it especially if your neck needs more support. It feels soft but supportive and I look forward to a night of great sleep on this pillow as I sink down into what feels like a nestling, cradling soft cloud.

Highly recommend if you wanna feel like a kid again.

These pillows are actually pretty nice. I got two to replace some feather down pillows that had a thick harder fabric casing over it to keep the feathers from poking out. The fabric was too hard while the feathers still poked out through it, so, I needed an alternative with thinner more bendable fabric without feathers in it, and these were perfect.

They help with my neck since it’s more softer inside as well as the fabric bending to conform to my face. I’ve had nasal surgery a couple years ago, and need super soft pillows that won’t bend my nose while I sleep on my side, or on my tummy.

With the down feather pillows before these ones, I would wake up with my nose swollen, but now I haven’t been, thanks to these more softer pillows, inside, and out! I should’ve bought four, but only bought two; might purchase a couple more later, if they don’t go out of stock.
