20 Best Electronic Hearing Protection For Shooting (2023 Updated)

Previous to this, I was using the Howard Leight by Honeywell Impact Sport doubled up with earplugs and this is a huge step up from that. This is a must have, especially for indoor range shooters. I still like my sport versions for outdoor shooting, but for indoor (especially with higher caliber munitions) this made a big difference.

I no longer need to double up protection and can hold a conversation/hear range instruction without risking my hearing. I highly recommend these. Only draw back is these are a bit larger, so for percision rifle shooting it may interfer with your stock.

That said for pistols and even normal shotgun use, these are perfect.

There are only two electronic ear muffs that provide a 29dB noise reduction, these Howard Leights and Pro Ears (which are $100 more). I have several of both types, they work the same. My pictures are of the yellow and also a black Howard Leight unit and the pink unit is a Pro Ears.

The military desert colored one is USGI and no longer made by Silencio, but it was the first of such high end products. Note the battery compartment access, the switches and the one failed (repaired) joint.

This HL brand has a metalIc head suspension, likely better durability altho Ive had one set fail at the plastic hinge connection at the ear cup. The Pro Ears version is a plastic head suspension and the pads are cushier, but ive had the electronics get sweaty and corrode green, destroying a few units.

Neither choice option is perfect, but the Howard Leight version is priced way lower. Either choice, get a 29dB as youre damaging your hearing otherwise, certainly true in any indoor shooting environment (above.

22LR) Understand that the 29dB rating is the noise reduction capability even if turned off or no batteries. This is the key to rating the sound reduction capabilities. The electronic portion of the dB reduction is irrelevant for you and me, its stated for scientists and lawyers.

Pish posh mumbo jumbo. All you hotta know is 29dB, and theres only these 2 options. They are great for instructors and their students, allowing for unimpeded communication which is so critical.

Bought my Howard Leight Impact Pro’s 7 months ago. Had 2 other brands previously. First pair just quit working. Second pair just didn’t provide adequate protection at the indoor range where I practice, and compete on occasion.

When shopping for my 3rd pair, I found HL. Being fairly new to electronic muffs, I had no particular preferences brand wise, so choosing HL was a completely unbiased decision. After lots of trigger time with the HL’s, I’m convinced that I chose well.

They are comfortable for the hour or so I usually spend practicing, and for competing (usually between 2 -3 hours) as well. As for all day comfort, I couldn’t say. I shoot indoors mostly, and they provide ample protection from my 357, 45 Colt, and AR 15, among others.

The only down side is the size, which makes it hard to line up the sights when shooting rifles. I understand that anything with a 30 NRR is going to require a little more bulk. I spend more time with pistols than rifles, so the size versus protection trade off is practical in my case.

I’m sure there are adjustments that could be made to accommodate rifle stocks that I’m just not aware of yet. Any suggestions ? All in all, I’m very happy with my HL’s, and am considering the HL Leightning L3 standard muffs (also 30 NRR) as a ‘just in case’ set.

Lot of ‘bang for your buck’, IMO.

These absolutely block out loud noises. I used them for range shooting and they were incredible. I also tried them in my deer stand but I wouldn’t recommend them there. It’s a little hard to tell what direction noises are coming from and I didn’t feel as connected to the woods.

I tested them by clapping and you can hear your hands come together but the clap noise is gone. I’ve also used them with an impact driver and they work there too. Definitely worth the price to save your ears.

Side note, they have an auto shut-off after a while. I thought the batteries died because I hadn’t read the manual. Oh, last thing, they fit great. I’ve worn them for hours and they are comfortable. The cups are big enough to not rub my ears.

I brought these peltor sports 100’s 12 months ago as my old Peltor Sport tac’s ($350. 00+) worked well until the electronics went haywire and were no longer any use at the rifle range. The 100’s are even worse.

the plastic clip keeps popping away from the body and soft plastic seals fell apart in no time. The retailer did not want to know about them. I originally purchased the Sport Tac’s based on industry and online reviews.

Totally disgusted in the product and after sales service. I will never buy another Peltor product. Suggest anyone in the market checks with actual users for a realistic review.

These work fine on the range. I don’t find the cutting in and our annoying although they are sensitive. They will cut out with the least noise but it doesn’t last very long, millisecond. I enjoy them the most while doing lawn work.

On the mower they are great allowing me to listen to my favorite podcasts while riding the mower. Also, they are great protection when I’m using trimmers or weed eaters. That said, I will be on the look out for a Bluetooth model if they ever come out with one it will be my next model.

These fit snug and are about as hot as any ear muffs of this size so that didn’t surprise me. All in all, I can wear these for hours without discomfort as long as I wear them with the Peltor 400 safety glasses which are designed to fit comfortably with ear muffs.

Like me, when you get these, you’ll find other situation where they are very handy. P. S. I have enjoyed these for about 2 years now and they are still working fine however, the ear pads are not very dependable.

I have had to replace them several times, the vinyl cover is very thin and prone to ripping easily. They make better replacements but, at approx. 40 bucks a set, not for me. Sincethese have been in service for two years, I will probably try a different brand next time.

Shame, I like everything about these accept the ear pads.

I have a lot of Peltor earmuffs. This one was expensive and a HUGE disappointment. I went to the shooting range last week and used it. They claim 24db noise reduction — no way. I went home with my ears ringing.

It is Much louder than my other similarly rated headsets. It has the WORST headband on it of any of my headsets (worse even than my $29 bargain headsets) — far worse. It is not ‘soft’ in any way, in fact they made a plastic ridge in the center of it that is quite uncomfortable.

Perhaps it is a good product for other uses, but for shooting, it falls completely flat. I will buy more headsets in the future, but probably never again a Peltor — they should know better. They USED to do better, what happened? It is going into my ‘expensive but not very good’ bucket.

I used these headphones for less than a year every day at the shooting range. So far, they have been doing great, unfortunately, after about 11 months of use, the headband holding the headphones on the head broke.

I understand that these are not headphones from the Work Style series, but I respected them so far and I was careful during use, and despite everything they broke. This is a very poor recommendation for such a well-known company.

I do not recommend these headphones, unless you go out to the shooting range at most once a month, then maybe they will last you longer, but remember to be very careful with them, because they are very delicate and fall apart on their own.

Apart from that, everything worked as it should, and until my headband broke, I was generally satisfied, although the sound quality could have been better. Do not buy! There are better products!.

My wife and I both have the 500’s. We use them around power equipment around thehouse and I use them while shooting. They ha great sound quality, the pairing is easy with my Iphone & iPod, and the noise canceling is adjustable.

The only issues I have had over the past couple of years is the head band and the battery door. The head strap has already broken as well as the battery cover retaining strap. I had to use a zip tie to hold the head band together.

It would be great is the headstrap would swivel or have an option to wear behind the head. You can’t wear a head cover over the head strap. Standing in the sun all day without a hat can be painfull.

Bought these for the range. They work great. First time using an electronic version, and when I turned them all the way up you can hear so clearly 100ft away, amazing. Definitely a nice set for a good price.

Easy to use. Sound cut-off when shooting. Easy to hear voices when no-one is shooting

Love them, so nice to still have normal conversation and hear contact onto steel targets along with being protected from shooting blast.

I have owned the Impact Headsets for years and just recently purchased the newest Sport model. I took it out of the box and used it one time two weeks ago. The right microphone never worked! No sound would be measured at all volume levels and with trying to adjust it with minor movements on the outside.

The only reason I didn’t rate the product a zero is the left side worked really well. I have sent 3 emails to the customer service department and ZERO assistance!! One response was to, “send pictures of the issue and describe what was the problem.

” REALLY?? So I have sent two more emails for help and after a full week, no response. Very sad. I will be returning the headset and won’t buy any more. I bet Walker has better customer service!.

so I bought these a few years ago for my wife and myself. I was under the impression that they would cancel sound and allow me to have a conversation while trying to instruct my wife. Well they do cut sound but not as well as I had hoped.

And when the range is hot I cannot hear the other person very well. I find myself shouting to get my words across. When noone is shooting ( range cold or minimal shooters) they do a excellent job regarding talking and hearing others talk.

But when there are numerous shooters they are no better than ear plugs in my opinion.

These earmuffs are perfect for hunting. Easy to use. You can tell where sounds are coming, unlike with the walkers razors, which are in mono. The sound quality isn’t stellar, but I didn’t expect it to be at this price point.

I was so satisfied with my purchase I bought another pair for my kids when they’re hunting with me, and retired the walkers I bought previously to the range and when the kids want to take over my drum kit, or want to play one of theirs.

Highly recommend.

These electronic muffs work pretty well. I can hear birds chirping, and normal conversation, but they immediately cancel out gunfire. The sound comes back quickly enough that I can hear the tail end of the echo from the shots.

They are a bit uncomfortable for me. I don’t like muffs. I stretched them out some, and they’re better, but still uncomfortable. They’re sensitive enough that they cancel out the sound of the slide dropping on my Browning Buck Mark.

I bought these shooting muffs with tongue in cheek. They were relatively inexpensive and though most reviews suggested they were above average a couple of the reviews had a bit of negativity in them.

I’m hard of hearing and though I’m supposed to wear hearing aids I don’t. The noise is just too overwhelming after an adult life of relatively increasing noise reduction. However, I don’t want to render myself totally deaf so I took a chance on these muffs and am glad I did.

They’re comfortable (for muffs/headphones), the noise cancellation is immediate when I discharge my weapon and the recovery is extremely fast so I can resume my discussion(s) after shooting and receive the next range command prior to the next series of discharges.

There have been times when I forgot I was wearing them while I’m “on the line” or in the safe area. I’ve experienced little (if any) wind effect on them and I’ve found they’re great to wear while I wander around in the heavily canopied Pacific Northwest westside forests.

I would definitely recommend these and have recommended this very brand to several shooters and outdoors enthusiasts who are somewhat hearing impaired like I am. They’re sturdy, comfortable, appear to be at least water “resistant” but I’m not convinced they’re wholly waterproof but so far they’ve lasted some of our torrential downpours we get around here.

They’re easy to tuck away in my butt pack or whatever and the batteries tend to last. For the price and the subsequent return on investment they’d be difficult to beat in my opinion. I would have given them 5 stars but quite frankly I haven’t had them long enough to see how long they’ll last.

They appear they’ll last quite some time so consider the “star rating” a 4 plus.

I purchased a pair of E 85 muffs. In a little over a year the mic covers fell apart. At that time it was really hard to hear out of one ear. I thought it might be the mic covers causing the issue or the batteries getting low.

I replaced the first set of batteries but no change. I sent a message to Caldwell asking if I could buy new covers. No reply after 2 weeks I responded to the original message and still no response from them.

I have 3 sets of their muffs but with this kind of silence to problems why should I purchase any of their products???????.

I just tested them, and they do appear to be stereophonic. (If you softly rub your finger on the outer case of the right muff, sound is amplified primarily on the right, and the same action with left side produces the same results on the left) I also have the dual microphone Walker’s Slim Razor earmuffs and they perform similarly, and they do NOT have individual volume controls as I saw in description here on this site.

I highly recommend buying the gel ear pads, so much more comfortable! That being said, it is extremely difficult to discern from which direction noises are emanating with these earmuffs. Same as the other Walker’s electronic muffs with only dual microphones.

My Howard Leight Impact Sport electronics earmuffs do a much better job as far as directional noise locating abilities. But they are less comfortable and the on/off/volume knob feels a little bit sketchy and does not operate as smoothly ot conveniently as the Walker’s.

I did not shoot with these ear muffs, so I can’t attest to their sound reduction quality. The microphones do not provide any ability to tell where sounds are coming from. It’s comparable to listening to the television with headphones on.

The sound is digitally reproduced in a way that give it a “tinny” sound. I gave the muffs a 2 star rating on the assumption that the sound reduction is good. They are slim, well fitting, & appear to be well made.

I bought these Quad muffs and the attachable walkie as a combo. My fault that I missed this item DOES NOT have the audio input jack. This feature would have enabled me to give a 5 star rating. Now to make sure I get the correct one since the outside packaging on the walkie talkie states “designed to integrate onto the Razor muff”.

But inside it specifically mentions the Razor Slim.

Great product. They have been used at outdoor and indoor ranges during instruction. 1. High noise cancelation, and 2. crisp audio. 3. Fit is better than the Walkers while moving/running. Overall better than the Walkers in all 3 categories.

Charging is easy and lasts all day. Does not have bluetooth.

They have lasted for many days at the range, good sound suppression, three levels of amplified sounds, only tiny bit of wind noise problem. Good battery life. Just finally tore a tip, got it stuck in my ear actually.

Great for shooting with a rifle, will not interfere with rifle stock, and no more sweety ears all day in the sun.

Says fully charged with the green light but the ear plugs won’t turn on, I’ve tried a million times a million different ways pressed long pressed short, nothing I hear no beeps

Buyer beware! First off let me say that Sportsman took very good care of me on the exchanges and finally the return. First pair only one side of the headphones worked, second pair was missing the cord and instructions (no big deal) but also only one side worked, third pair wouldn’t turn on at all.

Now, normally I would have given up at this point but the price is nice and all the reviews I read were good so I got a 4th pair and all seemed good. I was really happy with them until midway through my very first USPSA match, during stage 3 the microphones stayed on darn near blew my ear drums out and was emitting a high pitch sound that was audible to other shooters while I was on stage shooting.

Money back got the Howard Leights per recommendation of 20+ other competitor’s that day!.

These ear muffs are a very pretty pink (I’m not the camo type) and they work really well. I’ve wanted a pair of these for a year and saw much more expensive ones at various locations. For the price you cannot beat these.

I’ve used them with handguns and a shotgun and its amazing how you can hear and talk normally and then it automatically muffles loud noises from guns, lawnmowers, leaf blowers, etc. I totally recommend these.

They fit comfortably and are adjustable.

Excellent product for shooters who like to hear conversation or instruction in between target practice. They are mostly plastic vs metal but work very well and are heavy duty for my needs. I recommend them.

I’ve had these muffs for about 3 years now. I wear them anytime there’s a firearm in my hands and even if I’m working around loud power tools on home projects. I’ve taken several whitetail, countless waterfowl and tons of paper targets wearing them.

They do a good job of amplifying sounds until the shot and I’ve even heard whitetail sneaking up on me before seeing them because of these muffs. Being able to have a normal conversation at a whispering volume with someone seconds before the rapport of a 22-250 in the dead of the Canadian prairie winter without having to choose between hearing damage or spooking your quarry fumbling with hearing protection is absolutely invaluable for me.

I’m a musician so protecting my hearing is of utmost importance to me and now I don’t have to choose. Battery life for my use so far has been incredible. One set of good AAAs for the last 2+ years. A lot of people look at me funny for wearing muffs while hunting but I gave an extra set to a friend of mine last goose hunt and now he’s hooked as well.

They are surprisingly warm even in -20C (if you wear something UNDER the ear cups which I don’t, you’re not getting full protection) and the ONLY downsides to them so far are: – there’s not really anything to combat wind noise -you can’t hear your shot connecting with it’s target, or at least I can’t Long story short, they’re great quality and I’m very happy with them.

Wouldn’t go out without em now and hopefully will never have to. All of my guns except my 22LR have a ridiculously loud shot due to accessories, features or calibre and I’ve only ever bumped them slightly loose once (at the range) and I noticed it afterward.

Practice with them and it won’t be a problem.

I would have to say that the title/name of this product is somewhat misleading. Instead of “noise canceling” I would more honestly lean towards “noise clamping” or “noise restricting” in the way that this hearing protector has a microphone on the outside which relays the audio to the the inside.

When a sharp loud noise is detected, it is immediately muted/squelched. Even works with a nearby hand clap. Based on the “truth in advertising” principle, I couldn’t in good conscience label this as a “noise canceling device” as it does not invert the phase of incoming recurring noises to cancel out the noise at the point you hear it.

So yes, it does protect your hearing. And no, it doesn’t inverse phase cancel out constant noises. only clamps/limits abrupt, harsh sounds. Overall, this scheme is good for “situational awareness” when you are around other people and needing to communicate.

Excellent in that aspect. Plus, it won’t break the bank!!!.

I’m not sure if it’s just me getting better items, or people just not knowing what they’re doing, but I found these to be decent ear muffs. I use my walker electronic ear muffs for the rifle range for myself but when some friends wanted to go to the range, I picked up a couple of these.

I was reading the reviews and thought they were going to be ok at best but as it turns out, they’re actually pretty good. For starters, the batteries go in the side WITHOUT the control on it! It’s SUPER easy to take apart, literally slip a penny in the provided slot, and pop off the padded ring.

Take off the foam layer (SUPER easy also, you can just turn it over and it’ll fall out if it’s too complicated to grab something with your fingers). The battery tray is beneath the foam layer. Place the batteries in as instructed, not complicated, + goes to + and – with -, then put the foam layer and padded ring back in.

It’s seriously easy. When I read someone saying they needed better instructions, then actually installed the batteries myself, I felt really bad for the person who wrote the review, they’re probably somewhere struggling to get out of a bathtub.

As people have described, these are ear muffs, with a sound enhancing systems. Meaning you are wearing standard ear muffs, but they pick up audio and play them through speakers in the muffs. The attenuation is respectable for a $15 ear protection, heck, the attenuation is respectable for a $45 ear muff.

I say this because I have some safariland ear muffs that are $45, and don’t muffle as well as these do. The audio playback isn’t great, but the fact that you can actually hear people speak comes in handy when I’m shouting range commands at guests.

Bottom line is, these are decent, and worth buying. If you’re struggling to install batteries, you have no business in a tool store.

Firts the NRR is over-rated. Based on comparison to my passive compact muffs, NRR -22 at best. But if you need general noise reduction they might be good enough. My Peltor passives are WAY more quiet than these.

They certainly are not good enough for rifle shooting without plugs underneath and pistol shooting would be questionable. With -25db ear plug inserts in addition to these muffs they will be adequate for shooting though they are a little wide for rifle.

I’ve tried modifying them a bit by stuffing them with sound absorbent material and covering part of the exterior with gaffers tape to help dampen vibrations which has helped somewhat, but still not as good as better muffs.

The response in the electronics is adequate and while the tone is a little bright and perhaps tinny or brittle, it makes voices easy to understand. Not really loud amplification but good enough if the people speaking are on the right side where the mic is.

The left side doesn’t pick up much sound. The ear pads are inexpensive vinyl so not the most comfortable in the world. At first the set gripped my head too tightly but seem to have broken in a bit in the few times I’ve used them.

They’re ok for an hour but you wouldn’t want to have to wear them for more than that. In the heat? Forget about it. They’ve $15 muffs so what can I say? Not great, but not horrible either. You’re going to pay 3x this for better.

I just purchased these as a replacement to the Walker Razor XTRM (which were horrible). Initial impressions were they had better comfort then the Razor XTRM but I also fell into the same “volume button” issue that other people complained about.

There is a trick to it – these don’t have the same type of button that clicks on and off by rotating the button up/down, you have to press the button in from the front but the trick is to hold it in for a second.

You will hear a signal and they will turn on. Same to turn off, hold the button in for a second and you will hear a signal before they shut off. Sound quality is great – I had someone walk around me making noise and I could pick up their location with my eyes closed so directional sound quality is very good.

Additionally, I read a review that someone said the white noise was horrible with these, and I thought the same thing when I first turned them on but quickly realized the white noise was my furnace running.

Once the furnace shut off, the noise went away and it was perfectly quiet until I made a some additional sound – I was very impressed with the sound qualify. Overall initial impressions is 5 stars, but need to get them out to a match to see how they truly perform.

dissapointing. The sound of a running faucet gets louder with volume increase. Took them outside with no electronics nearby. Same white noise. Speaker cuts out with a finger snap. So that works like it should.

But it could interupt a conversation. I thought the more recent Walkers would be better. I was mistaken. These didn’t even make it to the range. They are going back tomorrow.

Best sound reducing headphones I’ve ever owned. I’ve been target shooting for over 40 years and these headphones completely change the sound of gunfire. The sound is so muffled. Works even better with my leaf blower.

Best headphones out there.

The good, the bad, and the ugly. The good list: Very comfortable around the ears. Separate mic on each ear so you can kind of tell the direction where the sound is coming from. Can turn up the volume and amplify sound like Bionic ears.

Phone calls work fine on my Android when plugged in to the input jack. Free stereo cord. 2 free AAA duracell batteries. Convenient plastic battery storage case. The bad list: Picks up a lot of static noises when indoors, from clothing, from WIFI, especially when talking on the phone and putting the phone in a pocket.

Static sometimes sounds like a helicopter. Also picks up static noises outdoors when near machinery like car engines. The ugly list: Phone and audio volume is a little on the low side. Had to add a ribbon underneath the batteries to make them easier to remove.

No separate volume control for the audio input jack. Decided to add a dot with a paint pen on the volume knob to make it easier to tell when the unit is off. The bads could also be considered ugly. I’ll update the lists later after spending more time using it.

I’ve had several different brands of shooting earphones, one electronic. I usually keep the regular ones in my range bag for anyone who forgets theirs. I loaned my electronic set to my sister when she took her CCW class and decided to just buy myself a new pair.

This Awesafe brand is phenomenal!!! Even though my other set does a decent job at blocking the noise and allows you to hear everyone talk, they still make me feel like I’m wearing them and I want to yank them off when listening to someone.

The Awesafe phones block out noise and allow you to hear your instructor speak and they are comfortable!!!!! I highly recommend these and will probably order a set for my husband, too. Very affordable, too.

I can not say enough about this product or this company. I recently purchased a handgun safe and it is amazing. Not only is it a biometric safe, but the quality is top notch. Therefore, I decided to purchase these earmuffs.

They are very comfortable and do the job. I have had other earmuffs, but these are by far better than any other hearing protection I have used before.

I bought these earmuffs for my two boys and they fit great. They also silenced the noise very well. My boys usually tell me that other brands hurt their heads but not these Radians earmuffs. I would highly recommend this product.

Bought this muff for my son to shoot over the weekend. Worked great. He said they were comfortable and blocked the sound.

These muffs work great! They are comfortable and my kids love them. I even use them when I go shooting with my husband

I have two of these muffs and love them. One of them from 2018 and another from 2019. It is great to be able to listen to music or a book while I work. I’ve used these for shooting, mowing and edging, and any time I need hearing protection.

They hold up pretty well, but I’ve had the following failures: 1) As you can see in my picture the post that keeps the headband onto the cup sheered off. Walker should be able to fix this in future designs because my dad has muffs from being in the Navy and they still work perfectly with no breakages.

2) the rubber cover for the bluetooth button is wearing out. It looks like they changed the design to try and fix this. We will see. 3) The ear pads wore out by becoming flat. The pictures do not reflect this because I bought replacements just before they broke.

If they do wear out the protection does become poor so make sure to order replacements when this happens. Things I would note, but not consider failures is that 1) the speakers do get weaker over time.

This can be helped by changing the cups when the start to get flat, but they are noticeably quieter. I can still hear my books. 2) The muffs can eat through batteries. Though I occasionally left them on, but this has been fixed on some models with an auto shut off feature.

All in all I would hands down recommend these muffs if you want good, thin protection with bluetooth to listen to audio and microphone features so you don’t have to constantly take them off to hear people.

Despite my concerns I have worked these muffs pretty hard (as much as ~24 hours in a week) and would not let my concerns stop you from buying. I posted mostly because Walker’s customer service suggested I post so my concerns will be seen by whatever Walker’s team would address these things.

These are the perfect balance of being able to hear what is going on around you, as well as protecting your hearing. Works really well for handgun shooting, and shooting small caliber rifles at indoor ranges.

If youre shooting heavy caliber weapons in a indoor range, I personally feel you should have a secondary air plug as well for your own protection. The issue of whether or not you should be using the secondary earplug (double plugging) along with even a quality earmuff like this, is still in debate Among the medical professionals who care about this.

What I really like about these Hearing protectors is that you can hear whats going on around you, while you were also able to be protected. The circuitry reacts almost instantaneously and you will hear possibly a little bit of static as it blocks out the sound of gunfire and other excessive noises.

If you opt for the model that has the Bluetooth in it, or that has a female plug for an 8th inch jack, you can enjoy music while youre shooting or doing whatever chore youre doing, while wearing these.

They also sell a clip on Device that turns to send to a to a headphone walkie-talkie. Not as good as the Navy SEALs Maybe the walruses. Overall though you can never go wrong with Walkers. And to all of those of you who were the real thing serving your country.

They worked great for one range session, but the next day would not amplify sounds any longer even with new batteries. when it did work, there was a small amount of static when using my cell. I think the designers got together and had a contest on who could come up with the absolute worst place to locate the external input jack.

Its on the top of the ear cup totally blocked by the headband. Also, if your planning to use these for home defense situation, there is a red light on the side which could possibly reveal your location in the dark.

I bought two of these and put batteries in while still in the parking lot. One of the two the volume knob was super stiff to the point of being unusable. Immediately returned it and got a 3rd one. That one a speaker didn’t work.

Returning all of them as if they are this bad out of the box I suspect the reliability will be a problem.

Two AAA batteries are housed in each muff. The lid that slides over them is EXTREMELY difficult to slide. I almost returned them because of this, but discovered when I stand up and put the full force of a thumb push, the slides will move.

I found it goes better if I stand up. Also, the loudness control knobs are irritating. One has to be turned clockwise and the other counter-clockwise. Just two more annoyances in life.

Came packed nicely, brand new as advertised. Dual volume controls, one on each ear which I like because I can turn off one side when I am at the range if I want to. Works as described and muffled the loud bang pretty well.

Seems to have a slight delay in muffling but still keeps the dbs down enough to enjoy my range time and allows me to hear other talk clearly. They fit right around the ears but not uncomfortable. I have a larger head or so I have been told by many mean kids growing up and these fit well.

I have a friend who spent over $75 on a pair of electronic ear protection and I didn’t see much difference between the pairs other than his have slightly less static in the ears when picking up voices.

If you’re looking for good quality ear protection and you don’t want to spend a fortune these will do the trick for you. I’m happy with my purchase!.

The sound control works great. You can hear the television in the next room. The sounds cuts off with any loud noise, but the only problem is the quality of the earmuff itself. If you clap your hands together these work great.

For the sound of a pistol going off, the ear muffs need alittle more foam and sound protection. The microphone cuts out but you can still hear the gun shot loudly. Just need more protection inside the earmuffs.

For the price its worth it. Its not the sturdiest construction but I’m not planning on using it at a construction site. its plastic foam vinyl and metal and it feels comfortable on me. I have a larger head too.

The electronics work well. I am very satisfied with this purchase.

For this price it’s a bargain ! Suppression of loud noise is excellent. The microphone / earphone feature works fine, I can talk to my pals on the shooting-range in a normal voice and they do not have to talk loudly.

The adjustable volume is a great aid. Sound quality is fair (not hifi) but sufficient for its purpose.
