13 Best Duck Loads For 12 Gauge (2023 Updated)

I bought these replacement meteor flares at the same time as my replacement locator flares. I failed to look closely at the expiration dates on the meteor flares until I went to put them on my boat. I was disappointed to see they would be expiring in 2 years and 7 months.

Flares not being cheap, I returned to a West Marine to exchange them for ones that had an expiration date 3 years old. The clerk initially gave me a look like what’s the big deal, they are good until 2021.

I did get them exchanged with no problem after I pointed out West Marine should have taken them off the shelf once the expiration date is less than the 3 year window. I recommend you check expiration dates on all purchases.

We recently returned to boating and the Coast Guard REQUIRES flares on a boat. Further, there is an expiration date on the Flares and the flares do not meet the Coast Guard requirement IF the actual date extends beyond the expiration date.

The DATE on the flares acquired from Walmart was June 2019. Thus we will need to purchase a NEW set BEFORE June 2019 (and discard the set we just acquired from Walmart). (This is typical for flares, they typically have a LIFE of around 2 YEARS.

) THE GOOD NEWS – – WALMART’s price for the set of Flares was the most COST EFFECTIVE that I could find on the WEB. A Word of Advise to ALL BOATERS — periodically check the expiration date on the flares in YOUR BOAT.

IF beyond the current date — BUY A NEW SET OF FLARES FROM WALMART. (DH in Akron, OH).

I must carry flares per law on my boat. These flares have an expire date at which point they are no longer legal and must be replaced. After reviewing the 20+ in stock the longest expire date was Nov 2018, and some were as short as 1 year out.

Even Sailorman had these flares in stock that were good for 3+ years! If it were not for the fact that I had received a $10 West Marine coupon I would have bought elsewhere. And this was in the new West Marine SUPER STORE in Fort Lauderdale.

I blame both West Marine and Orion for having OLD product on the shelves!.

The copper wire is great quality, and it came to my house in no time at all, even during a Christmas rush. I’m happy with the purchase!

The items were received a day early. They were exactly what I needed to ground my outdoor antenna.

I originally bought an MVP thinking it would be good to practice on a call that could “do it all. ” What I thought would be a call to practice my call operation and contest type calling techniques has become my number one hunting call.

I like it so much I bought a second so I have two in my blind bag at all times in case something goes wrong. This call fits me very well and has a superior, lifelike mallard tone. One of the long time members at my club has remarked at how rich my tone is on the low end finishing calls.

I like the compliment, but its more the call than it is me.

This call has range and talk about easy to blow, Wow! I can’t believe what a difference a premium call has made in my calling ability. I used to cringe everytime I thought about blowing a high ball, now I let it rip and it comes screaming out begging the ducks to turn back.

I love the low rapsy tones as well as the high pitched screams. Awesome call, I’d highly recommend it!.

Another great call from RNT,my lanyard has nothing but RNT calls. This call rocks and will hit everything from low to high. Running these calls expecialy the MVP took me from a beginner caller to having one of the guide services out at the lake I hunt every weekend to offer me a weekend job.

What else needs to be said about this product but it’s the best out there, and I have tried them all while learning to call. Also not to mention the one time I had a problem with one of these calls and emailed RNT about it within 10 minutes Butch himself called me and helped me fix the problem with the call.

Decoy has been great for me the past couple years. Made out of good material. Biggest issue with the juniors is that the AA batteries do not last what they say. I have put every kind of battery in that you can think of and it still doesn’t last very long.

I can get one or two hunts out of them depending on how cold it is. They do not perform well in wind over 10 mph either. My HD cuts right through it and will last 8-9 hunts. Highly recommend getting an HD if you hunt in any kind of wind or cold temperatures.

I have put more into batteries than I would have if I would have just gotten the HD.

I already had a Lucky Duck HD with remote for the past three seasons, and it’s great. I was hesitant about buying these because they were less expensive. They are basically the same as the HD without the 6V battery and remote.

They are the same size, and the detail is the same as the HD. I read some reviews where it said the wings were flimsy. I like the wings on these better than the HD because these have a small foam disk on them so that the wings will float.

It also appears that those wings are interchangeable with the HD. I think I’ll find some of the rechargeable 6V batteries for them instead of messing with AA batteries. I used rechargeable NiCad AA batteries the first round out, and I think I had a copy of weak ones installed.

Apparently, I can buy the remote receiver and use my existing remote with all three ducks, but I rarely turn them off when hunting. Very pleased with this purchase.

The Lucky Duck is an excellent decoy that really brings in the ducks! I received mine in 2017 and used it all season with good success. When I went to use it on opening day in 2018, it didn’t work. I contacted Cabelas and they sent me another.

very impressive! It took about 5 weeks between sending back the old and receiving the new. but that’s to be expected given the large system. I turned it on and it worked fine. but. the remote would not connect even though I followed the instruction exactly.

The light on the handheld fob was working so I thought that should fine. I called Lucky Duck in Wisconsin and the very helpful fellow advised me to purchase a new A23 battery for the fob( which cost me $17).

But then it worked perfectly! Even though it was new, apparently the cheaper battery does not retain it’s charge between manufacture and sale of the product. Now I’m second guessing that this might have been the problem with the first decoy! The point is.

even though the light works on the fob, you may need to change the battery anyway!.

These decoys really are great for this price. Love the foam fill. Hunted with them last weekend. Set out with an easy toss. Sat up straight immediately. The finish is kind of flat. Looked at some expensive decoys at the store and realized the only difference is a “shiny” finish.

A quick light coat of a clear gloss and these look exactly like $90 decoys. Will buy Higdon decoys again for sure.

I bought these ducks this year just getting into duck hunting reason I am starting out late in my years is I bought a Boykin Spaniel this year. I want to be able to hunt with her. I showed them to a friend that has hunted ducks for many years and he said that these ducks were very good quality.

But I also like the fact that this company back to the wetland conservation.

Received my Higdon Wood Duck decoys today just 3 days from date of order. They are very well made and quite life like. The paint job on mine is excellent and the heads of the drakes are the correct shade of green.

These are very nice looking decoys.

About a week after I placed my order for 35 yards (on sale) and a free pair of electric scissors, I received an email that it was being processed and was a little delayed to the epidemic. Seven days later the order was shipped, I was sent the tracking number and 4 days later it was on my porch.

It had been packaged in heavy plastic and both items arrived in great shape. I love this material and have not yet found any imperfections. However, be aware that the length shrinks drastically, and the width moderately, and also ravels by about an inch on 3 sides if you don’t secure it with stitching or fray check.

You need to order more yardage for projects that you will be laundering. I bought this material to make slipcovers for a couch, ottoman and drapes. For the slipcovers I had to pre-shrink the fabric and some reviews mentioned that the material would shrink.

I cut 2 pieces 83″ x 38″ and 1 piece 83″ X 10″ and washed them in warm water in the washer which should have given me enough for seams and shrinking for 77″ length. Not so much! The 2 larger pieces shrank to 70-72″ x 36″ and 1 smaller 72″x 8″.

The shredding except 1 side was about 1/2 to 1 inch. Back to the drawing board. I then bravely cut 2 pieces 100″ x 60″ and sewed a small running stitch 1/4″ on the 3 sides that would ravel. Put them in the washer with a bit of detergent and warm water at a heavy (longest) setting.

This time I got 2 pieces that raveled to the edge of the stitching (1/4″) and shrank to 84″ x 58″ – 16″ in length but still only 2″ in width. I’ve washed some pieces twice and it did not shrink further.

So my math indicates that approximately for every 3 yards (108″) you will lose about 16″ or a little less than 1/2 yard. Hmmm. I likely will not wash the material for the drapes. I like that this material is continuous and not in pieces like a canvas floor cloth and I would order again, however I think I have enough for now.

When I needed red canvas to make a cushion cover, all of the local stores were always sold out. I came across Fabric Wholesale Direct from an online search for fabric, and at first I was a little uneasy about purchasing fabric that I had not physically seen and held.

The cost was comparable to the local stores I had visited, so I went ahead and placed an order. I was very pleased with the ease of purchase for the canvas. FWD had the color I needed and the speed in which it took to ship the canvas.

I have made a second purchase for the same fabric, so I can make another cushion cover. FWD has made it easy for me to find fabrics that I need, and I will continue to use them for future projects.

I was extremely pleased to find such an assortment of colors. I am making beach totes for family. I am disappointed that 3 of the yards are a lighter weight than anticipated. I thought I ordered all in 10 oz canvas, but apparently not.

Two of the colors are disappointing: the light blue almost looks like lavender and the pink is actually fuchsia. But they will suffice. I will most likely order from FWD in the future. They still have a better selection of canvas than any local outlets near me.

Great quality, great value and exactly what I needed. Whenever I need magnet wire of any gauge I usually buy 3 rolls, each of a different color, so that the project looks more colorful and each coil of wire can be more easily identified.

This is even great for small repairs on circuit boards where you need a little more current through a small space or just want to be sure your repair will be stiff and last longer in rough conditions.

I have purchased the TEMco Magnet wire before through ebay as I was very satisfied with the first roll of this magnet wire. The magnet wire is of great quality and price.

Great product, just as described. Good value. Bonus points for being made in the USA. Used it to wind a 49:1 transformer for my ham radio end fed half wave antenna. Put it on a 240-43 ferrite core. Would recommend.

I needed a long steel plate for a nonstructural home project. The SIMPSON MSTC78 was perfect! Highly recommended!

I received the incorrect quantity for this product. I ordered a quantity of 4, 6 packs. I received a total of 4 door hangers rather than 24 door hangers. I understand why this might have been an issue, but I have already emailed support a week ago and have not received a return email.

Works flawlessly. Only suggestion would be a better rubber or vinyl tip on the catch. It wears out pretty fast

This is a Very Nice Choke Tube Wrench, much better than most factory new ones, fits broad and narrow slot choke tubes. I have some narrow slotted choke tubes and wider slotted ones. Most of factory choke wrenches, including Carlson’s keychain one, are too narrow for the wider slot ones–they slip and don’t give you torque–this one lets you fit both, as well as all three gauges, and it is wide and beefy enough in middle to give you some torque.

Not as much as the Quick spin or the T-handle by Carlson and others–but those are made only for the wide slotted tubes. This is the best of both worlds.

I have a Browning Citori with Invector Plus Extended Chokes and this did not work. It was clearly labeled that it was for Invector Plus, but I think that the Extended Chokes are different than standard.

Browning should make this clear on the package.

I bought two of these to replace an RBC33 bundle that was inside a UPS. Installation was straight forward: carefully remove the tape from each side of the old RBC33, disconnect the wires, transfer the spacer to the new batteries, reconnect the wires, and reattach the tape.

Process took under five minutes. Since installing the new batteries the UPS has switched over to battery power twice, each time for less than a second and presumably due to power line fluctuations. The batteries did their job and the equipment connected to the UPS did not lose power.

I’m satisfied.

My old uninterruptible power system was tripping itself off several times a week because the battery had gone bad. For the first day or so the UPS tripped off a couple of times apparently because the new battery was not at full charge.

After that short time, the system has stayed on without interruption.

This pair of batteries are working just great in my mobility scooter. That’s after a false start with battery that didn’t fit my battery pack. Replacement was promptly recommended and exchange was trouble free.

This is one of my favorite calls. It is always on my lanyard. It is a super finisher call. It can blow loud, if you want to go there, but it really shines as a finisher call. It has a great raspy whine to it.

It does the contented hen, lonesome hen, bouncing hen, hunting feed chatter, comeback call and hail call with ease just to name a few. I am an intermediate level caller but this call would be great to start out with and it will grow with you as your skills develop.

Buck Gardner makes some great calls for the common hunter. This has almost the same sound as the Double Nasty 3 SBT but seems to be a little more versatile. All three of my Double Nasty calls (SBT Polycarbonate, SBT Acrylic and the standard barrel Double Nasty) hang next to each other on my lanyard.

Each has a little bit different sound.

I bought this a little while ago and it changed my ability to call better. I had a single reed before and I couldn’t quite get the right sound so I went to the double nasty double reed and it’s way easier to call the ducks in.

This is my first duck call I am very happy I chose this one. This call is very easy to use and after a couple of training videos on YouTube I am able to mimic the sounds pretty closely. The call is also very loud.

Im really happy I chose this one as my first call it is a great learning call and I couldn’t beat the price!.
