I finally upgraded from my Note 10+ that I got at launch all the way back in 2019, and my experience with the ultra relative to it has been pretty positive. But while the S line has been on a bumpy road with features additions, removals, combinations, and design changes, the only thing radically different between 2019 Note and 2022 Ultra is the 44 extra pixels of height on the display.

It’s the same boxy design (which I like), the same curved sides (thankfully much less intense this time around), same S pen (almost exactly the same even), and the same Samsung experience we’ve gotten used to with OneUI.

However, I am happy I upgraded, because while I didn’t gain any features, everything I had before has been upgraded and tweaked to be smoother, quicker, and more powerful. The display is much brighter, and is just as easily viewable outside on a bright day as it is inside at night.

The battery, while I’ve heard it’s lesser than the S21 Ultra, is still miles ahead of the 5-6 hours my Note was left with by the time I upgraded (I had never replaced the battery), I’ll easily get 8 or 9 hours off a full charge and I’d consider myself a power user with many background apps as well as processing heavy daily tasks.

S Pen thankfully has all of the features it did before, I’m one of the few who finds practical use for Air Command when watching YouTube propped on a table and don’t need to reach my arm across to skip or change the volume, and especially when taking photos from distances or if I need to hold a specific angle and tapping the shutter button would ruin it (I can’t be the only one with that problem right?).

Speaking of photos, the cameras live up to the hype on this year’s Ultra. I’d heard complaints and gripes since the S20 but when I finally jumped it seems Samsung has ironed out most of those. Point and shoot picture taking, without any fancy zooming or photo modes, is class leading, and while you lose zoom options in the true 108 MP mode having a photo with a ton of detail can be cool and enhance it in most situations.

Wide angle is basically perfect, with the great color and detail persisting across the lenses, and the zoom is mind blowing and very freeing. The best uses I’ve found for the zoom are wildlife or nature photos, where you can frame something exactly and get it in crisp detail.

Zooming up to 60x is usually the most you’ll get away with, although I’ve managed to get a couple stunning shots at 100x, which is impossible on my brother’s S21 Ultra. The night mode is so good it’s almost a catch-22 (pun intended), if you take a picture at night it’ll automatically do a long exposure night mode photo and the result just looks like daytime, complete with blue skies.

This does mean if you want to preserve the dark night look, some adjustments or post touchups will be needed, although it’s better to capture all the detail now and adjust later than to lose it all in the dark from the beginning.

A good tip for using the camera is that photos never end up how they do from the viewfinder, there’s a ton of post process done on every one (something you can turn off in pro mode if it’s not your fancy) so you might just need to take a photo to see if it’ll be good.

Video performance is pretty good but can be hit or miss, although admittedly I don’t take many videos. The same great color performance carries through most of the time but lighting can be a bit off, especially when you have a bright light in a dark room (i.

e. a TV screen in a room at night) but it’s usually taken care of with quick adjustments with the brightness slider. A good benchmark for video lighting is plays, as in live actors across a stage. Being a large dark room and wanting to capture what’s going on can be tough for a lot of cameras but with a couple taps the S22 catches up and creates a surprisingly balanced and detailed video from what would normally be very non-optimal circumstances for phone cameras.

Overall I think it’s definitely an Ultra phone, it’s got all the big numbers and lives up to them for me, even if they might not have in the device’s between my Note and now. And while there aren’t any new features compared to my Note, it doesn’t mean this isn’t the swiss army knife of phones, heck, electronic devices.

As a tech enthused type I often need to do specific tasks for this and that and in specific ways for this device or that one, and this phone works every time when I use it, although for productivity my desktop computer is my first choice when I’m home.

Samsung has made a very refined device, bringing all the best features from past devices and upgrading them to truly be worthy of the name Ultra. I’d recommend the phone to anyone looking for the absolute highest across the board, even if it doesn’t do anything incredibly interesting like fold in half or have a ring light built in.

I’ll try to make this review short and concise as there are probably plenty of detailed reviews that have been written or video recorded. I’ll try to breakdown the areas which I have a problem with after I give an overview perspective.

Overview Perspective Having not owned a Samsung smartphone in close to 10 years (my last device was a Note 3) I can see that Samsung has come a LONNNNNGGG way in improving the design and functionality of their devices.

The S22 Ultra is definitely one of the best Android devices of 2022 and with Samsung’s commitment to 4 years of OS upgrades and 5 years of security patches, the S22 Ultra will be a solid device for years to come.

Area of Contention #1: Software. Touchw. I mean Samsung One UI (;-) is a MARKED improvement over Touchwiz of yore – however, it is still a fairly “heavy” Android skin that seems to still stand to be improved upon quite a bit.

I am coming from a OnePlus 7 Pro (still running the ORIGINAL Oxygen OS (11)) and OnePlus WAS known for having a light Android skin tweaked for performance and battery life. Samsung could take some direction from OnePlus for tweaking their skin for better battery life and performance and leaving the extras that they add into their deployment of Android as plug-ins or software that can be loaded from the Galaxy Store.

One of my main gripes with the software concerns Bluetooth in the following regards: 1) The BT device menu popping up EACH TIME you turn on the BT radio (it is MIND NUMBINGLY ANNOYING) 2) Not being able to see the battery life of the connected BT device directly in the status bar (as I can on my OnePlus) (and instead having to long-press on the BT icon (when the device is connected) from quick settings to see the battery life of the connected device.

This is a HUGE miss and one that should be a STANDARD for Android as a whole (let alone the S22 Ultra). I could go on and on with other little details, but overall – OneUI has much room for improvement that I hope gets better with OneUI 5 and beyond.

Area of Contention #2: Battery Life I know that there are many factors involved in the battery life of a device and that battery life is a subjective topic person-to-person – HOWEVER, the battery life for the S22 Ultra SHOULD BE MUCH BETTER.

Yes, I can make it through a day on a charge (I have the charge setting enabled to limit charging to 85%) and I only charge my device when I need to and not every night (I am trying to extend the life of the battery for as long as possible).

However, with my OnePlus 7 Pro – I can EASILY make it a Day and a half before having to charge that device versus the S22 Ultra where I am true to have to top it up first thing in the morning following a previous day’s use.

I know that this is attributed to how the software and OS is optimized and there’s not much that I can do about it (other than uninstalling apps that I don’t use). Area of Contention #3: Speakers Performance.

Okay, there’s no easy or nice way to put this but. the speakers on the S22 Ultra are pure sh!t My OnePlus 7 Pro has a pair of speakers that blows the speakers on the S22 Ultra out of the water (and that device is 3+ years old!).

For a $1000+ device, I expected speakers to be top-of-the-line and competing with the speakers from iOS-based phones – but instead, they are just pure trash and that is unacceptable. If I didn’t invest so much into this device (case, screen protector, vinyl skins, etc.

) – I would highly consider trading this phone in for the new Pixel 7 Pro. I may even consider trading this in for the S23 Ultra if that device has an improvement in the speakers (volume output, better bass tones, etc.

) (YES, the speakers are THAT BAD). In conclusion, the S22 Ultra is a solid device that will MORE THAN fulfill your smartphone needs. It has areas that desperately need to be improved upon if Samsung continues to price this device in the $1000+ territory, but for the price, you’re getting a device that will serve its purpose and then some.

I bought the new Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 512GB, phone on Sunday 19th June 2022 at JB HI FI Forrest Chase. My previous phone was Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and it was a great phone, but I do miss the micoSD plus Samsung Pay does not do magnetic strip thing anymore, oh well, what can I do and/or others.

This new Galaxy S22 Ultra is insanely smooth such as 120Hz with QUADHD+. I currently don’t have a case and screen protection at all, I don’t mind if I drop this phone that cost RRP: AUD $2149, when it was released earlier this year.

The battery is a big difference such as 4500mA on the previous phone and now 5000mA, better & faster processor and efficient chip on S22 Ultra, solid built phone. Camera system is truly amazing with 4 camera at the back compared to just 3 on my previous phone.

The Camera software and hardware is much different with them both as the S22 Ultra is a whole new level with pictures and videos quality even with low light. The apps are much more stable than the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra for some reason, not sure why.

This phone battery is being protected by the 85% maximum charge capacity which in terms longer battery life as well as degrading at a slower rate. Overall it is the best investment for me personally, it maybe out of your price range or if you have enough I suggest buy it.

This phone might or might not suit you, so please ask your service provider such as Telstra, Vodafone, Optus or others. If you are buying outright please ask the sales representative and ask as many questions before purchasing this product such as JB HI FI, Samsung, Officeworks, Good Guys and other retailers.

Design: Galaxy S22 very much looks and feels like a high-end device. The outside of the phone features Samsung’s Armor Aluminum alloy that’s been polished to a near-mirror finish, with the S22 also being one of the first phones equipped with Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus+ to protect the phone from drops and scratches — both in front and in back.

To add a little spice to the mixture, the S22’s backside sports a lovely matte texture – which does a surprisingly good job of resisting fingerprints. And for 2022, Samsung also spruced up the S22’s color options with new shades of green, pink and white, along with good ole black.

Like previous Galaxy S phones, the S22 comes with an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint reader, and after years of tweaking its algorithm and improving the tech, this time it feels seriously fast. In my experience, unlocking the phone was practically instant, and I never really ran into recognition issues unless my fingers were legit wet or greasy.

(Keep your grubby hands away from my phone if you’re eating pizza, k thnx. ) The one thing avid movie watchers should be aware of though is the color-matched frames on the pink and white models. If you’re the kind of person that might be bothered by a glint or sparkle around the edge of the phone while watching videos, you may want to go with one of the darker color options.

And while it’s not really a surprise at this point, the S22 doesn’t feature a microSD card slot or a headphone jack. With the Galaxy S line now being three generations removed from the last device to include both of those features, it’s pretty clear they’re not coming back.

Display: Samsung has had a lock on the crown when it comes to making the best mobile displays in the business for a while now. But on the S22, the company has outdone itself once again with displays that can hit a peak brightness of 1,300 nits on the S22, or an astounding 1,750 nits on the S22+.

Suffice to say any fears of the S22’s screen being hard to read even in direct sunlight are unfounded. Then, to make things look even better, Samsung created a new feature called Vision Booster designed to amp up things like contrast and color saturation in very bright or dim conditions.

While there’s no indicator or pop-up that lets you know it’s working, I found the effect most pronounced when I used the phone outdoors, with more subtle changes in the dark when compared to phones like the Pixel 6 Pro.

I found Vision Booster made dark scenes easier to parse, but even when viewed side-by-side, I basically had to press my face up against the phones to really see the differences. But regardless of where you are, the end result is a display that lives in technicolor, pumping out vivid shades and hues, along with the perfectly dark inky blacks that make OLED screens so enthralling.

Plus, thanks to a 2,340 x 1,080 resolution and a variable 120Hz refresh rate, everything from photos to gifs look sharp and crisp. Preformance: The Galaxy S22 line is one of the first phones to feature Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, which when combined with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage (or 256GB if you opt for the upgrade) results in a phone that feels blisteringly fast.

In my experience, there isn’t really anything you can throw at the S22 that makes it even sweat, aside from stuff like hardcore multitasking when connected to an external monitor via Samsung Dex (which is still very much a thing).

And while some reports claim that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Gen 8 Gen 1 has a proclivity for running hot, S22’s built-in vapor chamber cooling system seems effective at keeping throttling to a minimum. Compared to the S21 FE, which features an older Snapdragon 888 chip, our S22+ posted scores in Geekbench 5’s Compute test around 25 percent higher (4,708 vs 5,999).

And while the gap wasn’t quite as large in Geekbench 5’s CPU test, the S22+ still posted a significantly higher single-core score of 1,213 compared to 1,061 for the S21 FE. As for wireless connectivity, all versions of the S22 and S22+ support all the important flavors of 5G, including Verizon and AT&T’s new C-band spectrum.

Cameras: After recent advancements from competitors like the iPhone 13 and Pixel 6, Samsung is now playing catchup to Apple and Google in the camera department. And while Samsung is touting a bunch of new camera features for the S22 and S22+ like Adaptive Pixel and various “Nightography” improvements, the real upgrades are the S22’s new sensors — particularly the one for its 50MP main cam.

Thanks to that significantly higher resolution (up from 12MP on the S21), photos from the S22’s main wide-angle camera are just flat-out sharper than before. But more importantly, the S22’s primary camera offers wider dynamic range and big improvements for low-light photos.

In darker scenes, the S22 uses a four-to-one pixel binning technique that combines four adjacent pixels into one big pixel, which allows for improved light sensitivity. The result is brighter photos with richer colors, especially at night.

And even though Google’s Night Sight still has a slight advantage over Samsung’s Night Mode, the S22 has seriously narrowed the gap. Elsewhere, you also get a solid 12MP ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree field of view, and a 10MP telephoto camera with a 3x optical zoom, the latter of which is important because neither the standard iPhone 13 or Pixel 6 comes with a dedicated zoom lens.

So once again, the base S22 is the most well-rounded camera phone for the money. And in front, the 10MP selfie camera captured crisp pictures of my face including my many pores and blemishes, though you can always play around with Samsung’s beauty settings if you want to put on a smoother face for social media.

Battery life: Featuring 3,700 and 4,500 mAh batteries respectively, both the S22 and S22+ have respectable longevity. But if lasting a long time between charges is really important for you, the S22+ is definitely the better pick as it lasted 17 hours and 33 minutes on our local video rundown test, compared to just 14 hours and 47 minutes for the standard S22.

And thanks to its 45W wired charging (up from 25W charging on the S22), the S22+ juices up way faster too. In both cases though, you’ll need to make sure you have the proper power brick, as neither phone comes with a charging adapter in the box.

Nice phone. Actually it’s an awesome phone, compact enough as it is considered comparable to a Galaxy S10e. However, it may not be a major upgrade from the S10e nor its predecessor Galaxy S21 or S21 FE, but it is a nice phone with a more premium look and a considerably upgraded camera.

The S22 is very similar, almost identical, in it’s physical size as the S10e; S22 146 x 70. 6 x 7. 6 mm vs S10e 142. 2 x 69. 9 x 7. 9 mm. It has 256GB internal storage and 8GB RAM, just as the S10e 256GB variant, but no external storage, such as MicroSD, no 3.

5mm headphone/audio jack, and no physical biometrics sensor. It does have a better, brighter display with 120Hz refresh rate, up to 1500 nits, and 19. 5:9 screen ratio, though with 425 ppi. Screen size is 6.

1 inches, which is smaller than the S22 (6. 2″) and S22 FE (6. 4″) but larger than the S10e (5. 8″). Battery life seemed to be underperforming. Even though it’s a bigger battery, battery life is slightly longer than the S10e’s.

More power consumption is partly due to the 120 Hz refresh rate screen. Its camera image quality is good overall. Good saturation though overexposure of images is present, such as more dynamic and vibrant colors where colors will look less natural, all of which is common with Samsung’s cameras, especially with a lot of software assistance on the camera.

Unlike the other variants (S22+, S22 Ultra), the S22 doesn’t have WiFi 6e. Fast charger is sold separately. (No charger is included). For in-screen biometrics, Samsung did a great job on its ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.

Though not as perfect or as fast as a physical fingerprint sensor, it is well above the likes of an optical fingerprint sensor. Overall, a nice phone. Processing time seemed equivalent with the S10e, at times faster and slower than the S10e.

It’s still a nice phone. However, for some it may not be a major upgrade for those coming from previous Galaxy S series S10 and later, while for some others, it may. For me at least, if the S22 came onboard with either a larger internal storage, at least 512GB, or expendable storage microSD slot, it may have been a worthy upgrade, and 5 stars.

Plus a physical biometrics sensor as its side power/lock button, would really be golden.

I have been using my new Galaxy S22 for a week now – and I could not be more disappointed. I upgraded from a Galaxy S9 (amazing phone), and I am starting to think that I should have just gotten the battery fixed on my S9.

This phone is not worth its price tag whatsoever – I don’t even know where to start. The battery is nothing special – gets me a couple more hours than my S9 did, and with minimal usage and five apps installed (none of which have high battery consumption).

Size is okay, but the camera and side button layouts are very impractical. Whenever I hold the phone, my fingers block and smudge the camera lenses, and it is very uncomfortable and inconvenient having all the side buttons on one side (very difficult to take a screenshot).

Bixby should have its own button – another sad discontinuation of a useful feature. Edge panel is nearly impossible to use because of the discontinuation of the edge screen (which I quite enjoyed), especially with a heavy-duty phone case like mine (raised edges, which are absolutely necessary for a phone made as cheaply as this one).

I don’t know why they got rid of the LED indicator – that was one of the most useful features on both my S9 and S7. The camera in regular lighting is nothing special – basically the same as my S9; although, I will say that the night photos have impeccable quality.

I don’t know why they got rid of the headphone jack, as this phone’s battery capacity simply cannot withstand using bluetooth for wireless headphones hours on end. The display and animations are amazing, and processing speed is great; but again, not much better than even the Galaxy S8 in my personal opinion.

The proximity sensor is trash unless I am sitting directly in the blazing sunlight (I am assuming because of the “updated” technology, all for the sake of getting an extra eighth of an inch on the screen), and for some reason, the buttons lag or don’t register my touch every time when I enter my PIN on the lock screen.

Overall, the only good things about this phone are night photos and display. I didn’t mind having the eighth of an inch of screen taken up with sensors and indicators on my S9, and I found each of those “sensors” useful.

I don’t understand what the obsession is with getting a near 100% screen-to-body ratio on new Samsung phones is – but it’s very annoying and in my opinion frivolous. I also would love to know why Samsung stopped including travel adapters with their phones? Oh, right – more profit for them.

I have absolutely no use for whatever cord they included in the box with my S22 – I have no adapter to plug it into, and need to use my old (and trustworthy) S9 charge cord. I wish Samsung would go back to the S8 and S9 types of designs, or at least offer other flagship alternatives for those that were happy with the S9 and below.

This phone is more for entertainment and enjoyment rather than work and practicality, and I still need to carry my power bank and charge cord around with me – something I was hoping that I could stop doing with a new phone.

I bought a note 9 512gb 3 years ago but unfortunately due to my case from Amazon not being able to keep it safe like advertised it began to get alot of cracks and curved screens aren’t cheap to replace.

I was forced to upgrade and this phone looked like a good direct replacement. So far it has been. It came with a usbc to usbc adapter to transfer all that 512gb of internal storage from one phone to another.

It was pretty cool to see that it also was able to charge my note 9 battery when it started getting lower during the transfer. One thing I was worried about was not having an aux port. It came with usbc headphones so that solved that issue temporarily but it looks like I may have to update many of my older audio devices to Bluetooth or usbc.

This phone seems to be much much quicker than my note 9, the camera in general has some better features and works a bit better including the crazy zoom which comes in handy. But I think most importantly it’s got the note pen.

As an artist I frequently have ideas at the most inconvenient times. One thing I always have is my phone. So being able to pull out a pen and paper any time anywhere and sketch an idea without having to look for a pen and paper so that I don’t forget is the reason I refuse to get any other phone.

I hope theycontinue on with the series in the future otherwise I’ll be using this one for a long long time. But I would be OK with that. Also do yourself a favor and get a mous case if you need something rugged.

Their screen protectors are also amazing although they’re a little pricey. This case is already much more convenient and feels better made than otterbox cases as of late.

Where do I even start? I’ve had broken phones out perform the Note 20 Ultra. I guess lets start with the connection, It can never connect to your data or wifi and when it does it will for 2 seconds before it drops it again.

The screen is way way too fragile on the curves and it can get the tiniest hair line crack that renders the whole screen useless because the entire screen will basically shut down. The battery really isn’t great unless you never ever lose the charger it comes with.

Finally at least for big issues the pen gets worn out really quick if you use it a lot and then starts to not feel right when you have to drag it across the screen and the phone start up is pretty slow and laggy, also the finger print sensor hasnt worked once since ive had it.

It’s a shame because the phone looks nice and runs fast when it finally gets past turning it on, but these issues take away from all its good, especially the connection issue. When I simply want to Google something in a spot I’ve always had connection and now can’t because I have to wait 30 mins because my phone is searching for a connection it shouldn’t have to its very inconvenient, especially at work.

I pay a lot for my phone plan so should be able to use it like normal people. I’ve already almost spent more fixing this phone than the phone itself at this point. Like I said it’s a shame because it’s a pricey phone and can run very good when it’s not bugging out but that’s only 20% of the time it actually runs smooth.

As for gamers the day of deleting and redownloading games due to a lack of storage are over not only do you have a vast internal storage at your use the device can have additional storage as well with it’s external sd card slot.

With such superior graphics speed and screen space this is definitely enough for any gamer to have a great mobile experience and for long periods of time as well considering the device is equipped with a very large battery with an extensive charge time.

Even better charging takes no time with the Samsung super fast charger that can restore the battery to full in just about an hour. As you can see the device is versatile and capable of performing the tasks and achievements different people’s goals wish to pursue.

You could get a Galaxy note 20 ultra without knowing what to use it for and it would make a useful tool for any path you choose. However. As every Achilles has a tendon. And trojan is gifted a horse.

Or even the best armor has a chink somewhere. I HIGHLY RECCOMEND YOU TAKE THE TIME AND RESOURCES TO PROTECT THE PHYSICAL COMPONENTS OF THIS DEVICE If you are not prepared to spend good money on a quality case and also pay extra for a coverage of any physical damages and replacement of this device if damages do occur then even all these amazing features are not worth the 1000 + you will spend on this device.

A serious downfall in the design of this device is the curved edges of the screen can cause even the tiniest of cracks or chips to render the entire screen to become in operable. The parts for this phone are high in price so even replacement of parts will cost the same as just getting a insurance policy and paying a deductable of a damage claim.

Unfortunately the Galaxy note 20 ultra is ULTRA FRAGILEI!! due to a cosmetic design of the phone to make it appear sleek the back side as well is made of the same weak and feeble glass as the screen and can also spider web and shatter just as easily.

Therefore I recommend a sturdy screen protector as well and a case that offers more than standard shock absorbance if dropped. Sadly due to the current size of the camera technology the lenses could not be recessed in the casing of the phone either but are rather Located on the front of the phone and extend out farther than the back of the phone as well which runs the risk of damage to your lenses and the housing of camera lenses unless you also make sure your case offers protection against this as well or you get camera lenses protection and bumper guards to keep the housing safe.

But given these downfalls of design the note 20 ultra makes up in every other way and is totally worth it as long as you ensure safety awareness for the fragility of it’s design As an example I have had 3 replacements due to Various protection devices not being safe enough to protect my device and all involved soft falls from ankle height off the ground and improper installation of a case purchased and installed by my carriers staffing.

Going from a 2020 Moto G Power to the Pixel 7, (only because Verizon is penalizing older customers by making them upgrade to 5G Unlimited plans or pay a surcharge for grandfathered plans), and my first impressions are that’s the Google Pixel 7 is a nice phone, BUT not as good as the moto g power in terms of ease of use and functionality.

Battery has yet to be determined on the Pixel, but from a full charge, I’m down to 56% after 2 hours of use, so I doubt it’ll come close to the 2 to 3 days the G power lasts. Battery aside, I’ll say the Pixel 7 is faster, (3 times faster according to the geek bench score I got).

l, I’m anticipating the camera will be better, the screen should be brighter outdoors and Google assistant seems a little more predictable and quicker, and I like the new theme colors that automatically match the wallpaper I select.

Those are the only advantages I’ve found so far. The Pixel is a little narrower which will take some getting used to. The disadvantages of the Pixel are glaringly obvious compared to the Moto G Power 2020 unfortunately.

The main ones I’ll mention for those Motorola users who are considering this change are: No Moto Actions. I absolutely love moto Actions because I can turn on the camera and the flashlight easily, as well as use the 3 finger screenshot.

If you’re a Moto user be ready for some serious clunkiness for those frequently used features you’ll not have with the Pixel. Perhaps the biggest problem is where they decided to put the volume buttons on the Pixel, almost dead center on the phone under the power button.

Not sure how I’ll mount the Pixel in my phone holder in the car due to that. The second biggest design blunder of the Pixel is the fingerprint sensor is in the screen and works like garbage. The 2020 g power had it on the back, it was easy, consistent, and quick.

The Pixel may as well not even have a bio unlock, you’ll be regressing to using a PIN, or the face unlock which is hit or miss and certainly won’t work in the dark like a fingerprint sensor does. The audio sound is okay on the pixel, perhaps not as high volume as the Motorola but it has a nicer quality, although nothing like an iPhone.

The stereo speakers are both on the bottom on the pixel, which is a step backwards from the moto g power which has a speaker on the bottom and the top. Lastly the new pixel has a Google assistant search bar widget that cannot be removed from the home screen and is in the worst possible place at the bottom of the screen, so expect plenty of accidental assistant launches that you cannot disable.

Needless to say I’ll certainly miss all those great aspects of the moto g power now that I’ve got the Pixel 7. What I’m looking forward to is a speedier experience overall and hopefully some of the funky glitchy things that plague the moto g power like the slow and sometimes unresponsive auto rotate display, the Google assistant while locked, (never worked on the moto g power but seems to work fine on the pixel), and I’m hoping some of Google’s features like driving mode will work a little better on the pixel but I’ve yet to try them.

This is an early review, and comparing the two phones isn’t exactly fair because the Motorola G Power 2020 was a very purpose built phone compared to a fancy flagship phone. I’m still a little apprehensive about the switch, but hoping to get past it.

Taking Google’s Pixel 6a for a test drive after extensively using the Pixel 6 as my daily-driver for the past 9 months was a comfortable, smooth ride – unsurprisingly. Right out of the box, the smaller form-factor and lighter weight immediately relieved my palm of the arduous heft that is now common to today’s flagship phablets from the big three handheld device manufacturers.

Compared to the Pixel 6, the 6a feels much more natural to handle and easier to navigate, as opposed to the ‘top-heavy’ feeling from the larger and longer screens associated with the top-tier premium smartphones.

The lack of bulk comes at a small price in the reduced megapixel camera, lesser RAM, and smaller storage; but make no mistake, this phone does almost everything its older, more powerful, bigger brothers can do.

Snappy and as responsive as you’d expect Google’s newest flagship line to perform. Out of the package, the new G2 Tensor chip paired with the Android 12 operating system, stands to outperform almost every competitor’s phone in the equivalent price-range.

As of this review, after the initial setup, a notification popped up to upgrade to the latest operating system: Android 13. The only feature that I actually do miss in this iteration, is the ability to charge the device wirelessly.

Not a big issue for some, though many of my chargers, including my nightly charging stand, are wireless. This is due to the lack of a glass back, of which, both of the other Pixel’s in the 6a’s generation contain.

This, however, leads to the lighter weight and increased portability of this incredibly capable smartphone. The battery life seems to be an improvement over the more memory intensive models out there, and I routinely get a full day of regular usage, winding down to around 55% just before bedtime, despite having a smaller milliamp/hour capacity.

All in all, a great choice, and the perfect price-point for the opportunity to step into this generation’s line-up of exceptional Pixel smartphones.

I moved from a Pixel 3aXL to a Pixel 6. While the 3a was functional, the 6 was glitchy at times. Calls would not go through, hand off from Wifi to Cell tower was iffy. Notifications appeared later. As a phone, to make calls and send or receive texts, it was not reliable.

Connections to Bluetooth devices was not consistent. I had purchased one Pixel 6 from Google and another one from Best Buy. Both had similar problems. It appeared to be “software” problems. The cell phone company and google support groups were of little use.

So far, with the Pixel 7, it appears to be pretty similar to Pixel 6, but actually works consistently. So far calls are clear, texts arrive on time, Speakers sound good, videos are watchable (90Hz) refresh rate.

Bluetooth connectively has been reliable. I use a Beeline Moto for navigation, the phone does not get warm. Will know more about battery life after using it for a while. The menu interactivity has sub-second responses.

I have also used both sluggish Moto G phones and smooth Razer phones in the past. I use this phone to make calls, send some texts, take a couple of pictures. Read all the tech web sites for detailed reviews.

Purchased the product a couple of months ago, and it has tons of things to like about it but also some noticeable flaws. The Good: 1) The design is gorgeous! I love the victus glass on the back of the phone, and the way Samsung implemented the “bump” for the large camera censors, it is just gorgeous and uniqe! The black versions look slick, the silvers look classy, and the different tones between the glass and the “bump” are really nice, yet the violet-rose gold and red-gold versions are the real unique ones, again, prettiest phones I ever saw! 2) Samsung interface is always the nicest out of the android devices 3) The battery- gets you through the day even if you game or open tons of tabs on chrome, really stands out for me.

4) Great screen and performance overall 5) phone supports wifi 6 6) Samsung Dex is pretty unique and a really nice feature Samsung should advertise more. 7) except for the camera, the S21+ offers almost the same specs as the S21 Ultra which costs way more The bad: 1) Price- The competition today is tough, and other companies offer way cheaper phones for performance and specs close to what Samsung has to offer, I still prefer Samsung as I owned plenty of their devices so far and loved them, but aside of design, it isn’t that tempting for people who consider switching from other companies.

2) The Exynos chip- in the US Samsung offers the snapdragon 888 chip, but outside the US they offer their exynos chip which is not really that great, it isn’t as good performance wise, consumes more battery, and gets way hotter, and therefore after some time during heavy loads the devices gets hotter and slows down a bit.

Next generation of Exynos should feature AMD Zen 2 graphics which should be epic, but the current Exynos chip is a a little disappointing. *Most people won’t really feel the difference* 3) Heat- just want to repeat it, the device gets way hotter than I feel comfortable with during gaming or heavy tasks, both the screen and back are seriously hot.

*Temperatures are normal during casual use* 4) The camera- the design is really good, but the cameras performance is very inconsistent. sometimes I get really good photos and videos with vibrant colors and great skin textures, yet at times they get blurry or the colors are way off.

I know it is not the S21 Ultra’s 108 MP camera, but the Iphones and others take way better photos with 12 MP cameras. I expect better at this price with 64 MP. overall I love the device yet I think people should know the pro’s and cons before purchasing.

First new phone I have bought this expensive. Really wish I just bought another cheaper one as it doesn’t do what I bought it for anyway. Painful to set up, took about 2 hours to read conditions and statements for signing.

All I wanted to do was put a lock on the phone so it wasn’t stolen from my car on the way home, this was rediculous and caused significant grief. There is a special Australia clause stating our data will not be kept private as the Australian government has such low security for privacy and that it allows our data to be stored in China without any controls.

This is on all phones in Australia but still scary. There is no memory card spot and I was told I could expand the memory which is really annoying. I even was told that iit does and I can use the memory card from my old phone but it looks like I can’t.

It says I can have cloud storage but I do not want the whole world to be able to steal my photoes and personal data so have never and would never use the cloud until there is protection of my data. So cloud is a waste of money and I dont know how to use it anyway.

Phone is faster than my old one but is far harder to use. Finding the screen shot, changing formats for ease of use and the options is irrationally complex and cause delays in use. Worst predictive text Ive ever used.

Even after using words not in the dictionary it will change my exact typing for incorrect words that make absolutely no sense in English. How do I turn it off Camera is great but as the reason I bought the phone was to make videos and there is no port for a microphone and the adapter I bought doesn’t work, I can get no sound in my videos so for me, its been a frustrating waste of money.

I have sansung help but dont even know how to log in or get help. I paid for extra protection if I break it but not sure how I even tell when this starts or finishes and if I am to do anything to be registered.

Can’t change the backkground to a picture I want, just puts up paid options. I have never and will never pay for a background screen or other extras but am paranoid that it will try and charge me. I would be far more likely to use the phone and look into options if I didn’t think that I may be charged for some stupid meme.

Why is there no way of turning this off for people who NEVER buy things that have no use. It seems these unscrupulous companies are so determined to make me pay for something I would never use I dont even look into and use the functions as I am too worried about paying for things and not being able to undo it.

I would like to make payments on the internet but have no clue if there is any protection and as I get several phone calls and scam messages daily and have no idea how to even block them, the way it increases my nerviousness about lack of control and decisions I have regarding who and how people contact me, I am using the phone less than I thought I would.

While the ease of use and lack of help to set up and get started was not a great reflection on samsung when I paid such an extraordinary amount of money for a phone, the lack of consumer data protection and ways to regain lost moneys is directly related to the way laws in Australia do not protect the community but preference large corperations.

Overall, too expensive for just a phone and it deosn’t work to do what I wanted and I have no idea how to get any assistance. I am also paranoid about it updating now I have it working like all of my previous phones have done so I am not updating.

I am not sure what the reprocussions are but when I have no control ver the format of my phone and in the past the changes have made the phone less able to be used, I am unlikely to ever update which seems rediculous when updating as a word implies improvement but I have not ever experienced that.

Well I was very skeptical about switching from my Motorola to a Samsung because Samsung’s just aren’t as durable. You drop it & either the screen breaks or more often it won’t power on anymore or will only get to the startup screen & then restart (eye roll emoji) but I switched.

Sigh. Smh :’-( 1) Says it has a fingerprint sensor however getting it to actually work is virtually impossible! I’ve tried different fingers, angles, positions, times, days, moods lol heck I’ve even had other people try to see if it was just me & nothing works! Grrrr (insert angry face emoji) Was able to do 1 fingerprint however I still can’t get it to ever unlock that way.

Talk about a hassle! Plus there seems to be dead spots or something on the screen. I’ll touch it sometimes (several times) in the same spot & nothing but if I scroll & then click it works but idk maybe that one is an operator error.

It could use more storage (but I also have a lot of vids) The fingerprint sensor grrr! Wireless charging is a pain, spent $60 on a wireless charger & never use it cause it seems like no matter how I set my phone on it it won’t charge.

Did I mention how terrible the fingerprint sensor is? 🙁 Cause it is. I will say the camera is fantastic! Love it, takes great photos so many options, lenses, stabilizer, different modes, the night mode is very impressive & the zoom.

Wow! And I do like the ways you can customize it. Thousands of themes, fonts, screensavers, AOD’s. It’s also a very heavy phone! I have carpel tunnel and holding this phone hurts my hands and wrists so don’t get it if you have trouble with yours cause between the weight & the stupid fingerprint sensor you’ll regret it.

I purchased this with the intent to trade in my cracked N20 Ultra 5G. The phone seems solid, but there is not much of a noticeable performance difference from my N20U. The camera has improved, but the N20U no longer suffers from the autofocus issues it had upon release.

The 10X optical zoom is pretty good, but just like the 5X on my N20U, it does not appear to function like a regular camera with optical zoom—the photos taken at maximum optical zoom look nearly as grainy and pixelated as they are on the N20U.

They are similar to, but a little better than, taking a high resolution photo with the standard rear camera (not 108MP) and blowing it up on my computer. I have never had any luck with the 108MP over the standard maximum on either phone.

The screen is visibly better in appearance generally (both at highest resolution). It is also a lot brighter and can easily be viewed at the beach with the sun shining directly down on it. That being said, the N20U is bright enough to see it under those conditions.

Also, when the S22U turns on its super brightness function (I don’t recall the proper name of the feature), it washes out the screen a lot. All blacks become medium gray and the average color range is reduced significantly.

I suppose it’s better to see it this way than to not see it at all, but, as stated, I can see my N20U well enough for me. Sneaking a mere 8GB into the 128GB model was a little lame and clearly just for marketing purposes.

Memory isn’t that expensive, particularly for Samsung, this is a flagship either way. If anything, they should have stepped up the 512 and 1TB to 16, instead of reducing RAM 1. 5 generations later (N20U 128GB has 12GB).

Also, I do not think they make it clear on the website that the 128GB has less. Fortunately, I purchased the 256GB during the upgrade, so I didn’t have to contend with that. For all intents and purposes, this is just an upgraded N20U.

The professional reviews talk about latency of the pen, generally pep, camera details, night pics, etc. , etc. , but average consumers will ever notice this. The individuals reviewing in those really highlight the differences and improvements, but at a level of detail that the average consumer will never really notice.

For instances, everyone talks about the improvements with the latency of the S-Pen. I tried drawing side-by-side and couldn’t tell what was different. The night pictures are slightly better all around with the S22U, but both are sufficient, and both get the color wrong (i.

e. , if you’re going for really good pics under those conditions, post-processing is necessary). The lack of an SD card was the pivotal reason why I returned the S22U and had my N20U repaired at BB for nearly as much.

Well, and because of my final insight, below. The improvements are not noticeable enough for me to make me want to switch to a new phone and lose access to my SD Cards, which have been passed up from generation and generation and increased in capacity along the way.

Perhaps if someone intends to a lot of gaming on this phone, the processor and screen upgrades make sense, but for most people, they will not. I will upgrade if they ever add this back, otherwise, I will eventually seek out a new mfc (unless, someday, I can reasonably afford to fork over $1500 for the galaxy Fold future generation, and it includes a camera on par or better with all other flagship models.

I really lvoe the convenience of popping one SD Card out and another in, even though an SD Card is somewhat slower than internal memory. I have been a Samsung user since the 3rd generation S series (and have several other products) and am starting to notice diminishing returns year after year.

I can wait a couple generations happily with my N20U until these are improved upon (and hopefully, an SD card option comes back). I also want to see a phone with an optical zoom that works a bit better—I realize this isn’t my DSLR, but if it’s optical then it shouldn’t be limited by the sensor (I assume this is the issue, but do not know for sure.

If it’s a software issue then it needs to be corrected all around). No matter what I do to adjust it, which mode I use, or even using a different camera app, the i-phone always takes better pictures (and I do not use one regularly and am not a fan of that brand overall).

Also note, the N20U’s screen is 0. 1 inches larger than the S22U, which is no big deal, but still a downgrade in my opinion. A lot of the photo and editing features are 100% software issues and can be ported back to the N20U one way or another.

Conclusion: Not really worth the upgrade from N20U, but perhaps from other lesser models (i. e. , S20U and earlier, because of the screen and the pen for my particular uses). Oh, and “Red” = “Coral” or “Salmon”.

Definitely not red or any variation thereof (technically).

I’m been using Google Pixel phones since version 3 and this 6a is a replacement for a Pixel 4 that decided to come unglued. That’s right – unglued. Google it. It’s a thing for the Pixel 4 phones. So I’m really hopeful that 2 years from now this phone will NOT suffer the same fate.

I’m an iPhone user, but my day job requires me to work with Android phones as well so I’m always flipping back and forth and the Pixel is the Android device I always come back to. One of the best features of this phone is that because it is made by Google, it runs pure Android, which means you don’t have to wait for an OEM (cough.

Samsung) to always get the latest versions of Android OS. In the two years I’ve used the Pixel 4 it’s never been more than 14 days behind the latest major version and monthly security patch version. So while Google continues to struggle with getting other OEMs to update the OS on Android this is never a problem with the Pixel phones.

If you need to always be running the latest Android OS like I do for my day job, Pixel phones should definitely be a purchase for you. Being used to the Pixel 4, the 6a’s almost full inch of extra screen space seems tiny on paper but looks amazing in person.

I’m a Fortnite player on Android and have been very impressed with how much better Fornite runs on the 6a compared with the 4 but the larger usable screen space for apps and games is the feature I notice the most.

The pinhole camera took some adjustment to get used to and I do like the fingerprint unlock. The form factor of the 6a is easy to hold for long gaming sessions being slightly more blocky (if that’s even a word) than the 4.

On the software front, Android continues to add innovative and useful features such as the new magic eraser feature for the camera where you can remove unwanted objects quickly as easily from the phone and the adaptive battery and extreme battery saver features do allow you to skip a day or two of remembering to plug the phone in to charge and with Android 13 around the corner, this Beta’s are already available for install on this phone.

Overall this is a solid Android device and so far the build quality is far superior to the previous Pixel devices.

If your phone is less than 2 years old, you may want to skip this as an upgrade. If you’re still rocking a Pixel3 or older, read on. The Pixel 6 series rocks Google’s new Tensor chip, their first attempt at an in house system on a chip (SOC).

While it works, there is definitely an early adopter tax going on. Many features such as the under the screen finger print sensor, live translation, or even system responsiveness are not on par with many other chips.

I found myself often going back to my Pixel 4a when I needed to get tasks done quickly and for my daily driver. Google did release a system update that helped with some of the issues, but I suspect that we won’t be getting full system performance out of the Tensor chip until Android 13 is released.

The phone itself is well built and feels good in the hand. I like not having the indent in the back of the case which means that any case I purchase for the phone no longer needs to have the cutout. Speaking of cutout , I do not like the position of the camera cutout on this phone.

Top center is prime real estate on the screen both in vertical and horizontal mode, and the camera clutters it up. The previous top left corner on the 4 and 5 felt less obtrusive and I found myself forgetting it was there most of the time.

Battery life is great on the Tensor chip, but I wonder how much of that will change once the chip is really unleashed. As it stands, even under moderate to heavy gaming, I was still getting a full day of use out of the phone.

Given that this still only includes an 18W charging port, this is critical, as you’ll likely be plugging this in over night and using the adaptive charge to keep your battery in tip top shape. As far as software/SoC features go, Google is touting magic eraser as their big new gimmick and honestly I wasn’t impressed.

Anyone that has used Photoshop has seen how digital erasing works and I found the results to be the same or less impressive than using a desktop. Unless what you’re erasing is surrounded by a surface with lots of random patterns, such as clouds, the pictures look very obviously edited, something that most desktop apps do better.

I also found that through copying the new photos app apk file to my Pixel 4a, I received the same results, so this is more of a software gimmick than a SoC feature. Speaking of photos, I really did not see an upgrade in visual quality on the 6a vs.

previous Pixel models. Yes, the 6a can do 240fps @ 1080p and 30fps @ 4k in video recording, but the picture quality itself is not much better. Pair this with the same 6GB of RAM as we’ve seen for many years and the fact that Google killed the headphone jack while the 5a retained it while also being water resistant and the used market is looking a lot better than the new market right now.

Worst phone I’ve ever owned, despite also being the most expensive phone I’ve ever owned. Feels shoddy and low quality compared to much, much cheaper Motorola phones I’ve owned in the past. Seriously, Google – you’re how many generations deep into your flagship phone, and you don’t even have a gesture for opening the flashlight? Terrible interface for the camera – very difficult to access controls for things like flash or continuous shooting compared to other camera apps.

The assistant is garbage, and almost never gets my questions correct the first try, and yet makes me screw around with waiting and then pressing an extra button to get to the actual Google results so that I can see the actual correct answer.

I consistently have problems getting Google home to ring this phone when I’m trying to locate it, Even if it’s at high battery and connected to Wi-Fi. And on the subject of Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi calling is always messing up, with people unable to hear me at all.

The settings app is completely worthless – I can never find anything in the search menu, and it’s not organized intelligently or intuitively enough for me to find anything without a lot of research and poking around.

I have had this phone going into sleep mode while navigating on the maps app multiple times. The fingerprint sensor messes up constantly. “Not recognized. Not recognized. Not recognized. ” It doesn’t matter how hard you try to keep the phone from locking itself, it will lock itself, and it will fight to stay locked at odd and random times.

The battery life is pretty decent, which is literally the only thing that keeps me from spiking this phone into the dumpster. Don’t get me wrong though, the temptation has been there many, many times.

I can never seem to get the volume to act the way that I want it to – It suddenly gets very loud for no apparent reason, or very quiet for no apparent reason. I try to mess with the volume mixer to get things right, but I can never seem to succeed.

Maybe I’m just not intelligent enough to comprehend Google’s superior audio design “vision. “The side swipe motion gesture to go back seems like an okay idea on paper, but tends to clash with other apps and web pages.

I still haven’t gotten completely used to it after many months of using the phone. Bad design decision. In their attempts to streamline everything and emulate Apple, Google has lost all of the advantages that they once had over Apple.

I have learned my lesson, and will not buy a phone designed by Google again. This thing isn’t worth $700 – It hardly feels like it’s worth $70. Reading this review, I imagine some people will conclude that with a laundry list of issues this long, I may have simply gotten a defective phone.

I would contend that this wide range of issues is only possible with severe design oversights – there are simply too many problems in too many different areas for the issues to be common to one hardware defect.

To me, It feels like the problem comes from the software design, as well as bad or non-existent QA. I bought this phone at launch and have been using it ever since, and I don’t want to make it sound like it’s broken – I don’t get the impression that this phone has any actual manufacturing defects, but the overall user experience has been absolutely awful!Final note – I dictated most of this review with speech to text, and it is bonkers how many words it gets wrong compared to cheaper phones on older versions of Android.

And when it gets a word wrong, it gets it wrong in a way that I can’t even comprehend – such glaring, bizarre lingual mistakes that I actually marvel at how bad it is. What is Google doing?.

First off I thought that I’d be nabbing a brand new phone and it would be super easy-going and a enjoyable device. WRONG. I’VE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS THING. Within the first month of owning it the type c to type c charger stopped working for some reason.

More than half the time my keyboard will glitch out and won’t work or I’ll have to restart apps just in order to make certain functions work which work normally on my other phones previously. And this still happens to this very day, the map system that’s hooked up to the satellite I don’t know if it’s just super inaccurate or what because I’m a delivery driver and half the time that I try to make my orders it puts me at the house that’s one over because it can’t register where I am.

Now you’re telling yourself , that’s probably every once in awhile but when I say it’s every time I mean it’s every time. The type for a has a headphone jack but this one doesn’t so everything you have to use is either Bluetooth compatible or you have to get a stupid dongle in order to just use headphones.

When this last system update just came out they put the do not disturb button on the top five buttons that could be accessible when you scroll from the top down, well while I was on vacation apparently that button had gotten tapped and for 3 days I wasn’t getting notifications.

Just a bad phone.

With a heavy heart I must say the pixel 5 is meh at best. I’m coming from a pixel 2 xl and gifted my wife the pixel 3A. Both phones are superior to this. Perhaps not in terms of performance but in terms of features.

Yes this phone is indeed the last of the figure print reader since the pixel 6 as of now doesn’t have the in back reader ( fingers cross for the pixel 6a for having a finger print reader on the back).

The lack of the squeeze to launch google assistant is a big negative for me since I loved that activating it that way. Only reason I upgraded to the pixel 5 is that sadly my pixel 2 xl camera stopped working.

The screen color to me at least is much better and even the hapic feedback is much better on the 2xl. The call quality is better on older models since the 5 use vibration for the ear piece (there is no speaker on the top part of the phone, it uses some vibration to mimic it.

Cool idea but as I said it’s perfect). If at full volume it’s pretty much speakerphone. In the end I rather use a slower pixel 2 xl then this. I love pixel but haven’t jumped on the 6 due to the lack of both back finger print reader and the squeeze function.

Google I wish you made the five great but it ended up being meh in the end. Sorry but this is how a this pixel fan feels.

My last few iPhones have lasted me a long time, I bought a 13 after almost 4 years with my XR (iPhone 10). With a good amount of time between purchases I normally see a big difference/improvement in many areas upon getting a new iphone.

Not this time. Camera is supposed to be much higher quality – I can’t get it to focus without having to manually switch a setting and even then the XR photos would focus better and show more detail in the photo.

It sounds much worse than the XR did – on a call the sound quality is noticeably poorer than my XR. The style of the phone is reminiscent of an iPhone 4, boxy and small, fit is not as comfortable in my hand width wise as the XR (normal size XR) was.

I’m seeing no noticeable difference in operating speed and battery life which are supposed to be improved, does not appear to be any different for me over the XR. In all I wish I had taken my XR to a repair shop to confirm it was not able to be fixed instead of shelling out almost $900 for a new iPhone that in my opinion is a down grade from the XR three models prior! Note that NOT included in the box is the plug required to charge this phone, and no headphones.

The lightening cord from a newer previous iPhone will work if your going from iPhone to iPhone but if you are new to an apple phone I guess Apple expects you to spend $900 for a phone and not even provide you with what you need to charge it! I’ve never been disappointed with an iPhone purchase before (iPhone4, iPhone5, iPhone6, iPhoneXR) but I am now.

Apple drastically lowered the bar on the standards of an apple product with the iPhone 13 (and it appears on the iPhone 12 as well from the reviews I’m reading on them). I wish I hadn’t been in a pinch causing me to make this purchase without researching first, mistake on my part.

This is my first iphone since the iphone 4. Im coming to the 13 after owning a Samsung s10+ for about 3 years. My first impressions on the 13 are the camera and screen quality is much worse than on the Samsung.

Apps randomly open on this phone and sometimes close on their own. I thought that switching to IOS would make my application experience better because its a proprietary software that all developers could easily work on, however, I’ve soon come to realize that is not the case.

Apps (like snapchat, instagram, google chrome, youtube) all worked better on an android phone. The iPhone just crashes or loses data too often. I thought that the iPhones had picture in picture mode but apparently they don’t allow any apps to use that feature so its useless.

The front camera quality is obviously 720p no matter what they say on the website. It looks like my mom’s iPhone 5. The rear cameras are not great either. The battery will NOT last you a full day. Other reviews and people will tell you it lasts at least a day; it doesn’t.

This phone also doesn’t have enough ram to be productive because the user has to continuously re-login to every website/app even if its suspended and not closed. I thought the A15 chip would be able to work some magic but it doesn’t.

Most calls and texts do not go through so i have to remind myself to texts or call someone once I’ve left my location. Compared to the android, this problem didn’t exist. Coming from an android made in 2019, i was surprised how much worse the newest iPhone is.

I would have saved $900 and had a better experience if i didn’t get this phone. I got it just for FaceTime and blue texts. Don’t make that mistake because nobody actually cares after you switch.

I’m giving a three star review because the phone is still usable. I purchased the iPhone 13 Pro Max. I really wanted to say this is a straight up five star review but it’s sadly not. In terms of build quality, they can have a billion stars.

I think the build quality and the physical hardware is great and lives up to the expectation. in terms of software, this feels like five steps backwards. When this phone came out with iOS 15 out the gate, I’m telling you right now, I got a solid three days of battery life on Heavy usage – in between charges, which I’ve never gotten out of anything I’ve ever tried.

The software interface itself was super smooth and almost heavenly. The buttery smooth 120 Hz refresh rate is probably one of my favorite specs about this other than battery life. Honestly, I massively regret forgetting to turn off automatic updates.

Every update since iOS 15, my phone is a glitchy mess. Siri doesn’t like responding most of the time, phone calls drop or no one can hear me and I can’t hear them, Bluetooth doesn’t like acknowledging any of my previously paired devices (i came from iPhone 11), even after removing them entirely and repairing them all over again.

Screen share, airplay etc and whatever else doesn’t like to cooperate often. This phone just doesn’t feel like a smart phone anymore, after these last couple of software updates. And I’m really mad that I don’t get 3 days on a charge anymore.

I get maybe 2 full days. I really hope that future updates fix this and bring back the glorious feeling the very first version of iOS 15 gave.

This review is regarding the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G. I’ve been out of the loop about phones for awhile now. My trusty Note 4 had finally reached the end of its lifespan that replacing batteries could no longer fix (partial bootloop and my carrier shutting down 3G which would make it unable to do voice calls) and it was high time for a new phone anyhow.

I was planning on replacing it before this all happened and was just figuring I’d get the newest Note they had available at the time, but my friend had the Galaxy Z Flip 5G and I was absolutely blown away by the design.

At first I was gonna get the Motorola Razr instead cuz of nostalgia, but then I looked into the actual specs and pricing and it was a hard pass. The Z Flip 3 had literally just came out and while it wasn’t as “top of the line” as the rest of the flagships available, it was still quite the upgrade from my old Note, so none of what it lacked was a dealbreaker for me.

I’m very happy with my purchase thus far. The design, quality of the screen, great speakers, camera, and the intricate file system make this a valuable replacement for my dusty old notebook that I used for writing miscellaneous notes.

It definitely isn’t the phone for everyone if the top specs, camera, and battery life are your primary concern, but it’s still a solid device that I’d buy all over again in a heartbeat. I’d say this is a perfect phone for an average user who misses having a flip phone and wants to experience something new.

Edit: Just realized I didn’t address the crease which is most people’s concern about these things. Honestly, being that I wrote this review on said phone and forgot all about it should tell you what you need to know.

Unless you’re in direct sunlight or actively looking for it, you truly don’t notice it looking at the phone straight on. Kind of like how you don’t notice your nose unless you take a moment to look is my comparison on the matter.

Some can live with that, some can’t. For me it’s not really a matter worth mentioning since it’s so easily ignored.

I upgraded to the 2nd generation Z Flip 5g in February 2021 right before the 3 came out. It’s a neat little device that brings back the nostalgia of the early 2000s but super hi-def. It’s a bit heavy although perfectly compact for my needs.

So here’s the problem. The screen was defective upon arrival but if I restarted the phone it would go away for awhile. I called att and they told me that att warranty does not deal with the flips and folds and would have to go through Samsung warranty.

Samsung wanted me to drive 3 hours from my house to a repair center or send the phone in to be repaired despite not having inventory so I choose to deal with the defect until the phone started resetting itself in August.

I called Samsung again and was put in some purgatory of a wait list for a replacement. I received one 30 days after my initial claim that was DOA. Called Samsung back and they wanted me to send it back for repair despite not having inventory of parts to fix it or phones to replace it or drive 3 hours to a repair center again.

So I called att after all the BS and loyalty retention paid the deductible for the their insurance company to send out another device. I’ve had it for about two months and it’s restarting itself without saving my settings and the outside screen is acting strange.

Called the insurance company and they won’t replace it because they have a 30 day defective period and I’ve had it for 60 days. Called att and they still refuse to accept under their warranty because Samsung only deals with the flips and folds.

Called Samsung warranty and they told me they would get back to me in 72 business hours with a decision to refund me. For those who got working devices good for them because it’s a cute compact device but for the others like me, Samsung is pulling some serious BS.

It’s criminal. I’ve read the reviews on the 3 generation and it seems like a toss up as well. Samsung has the folds and flips under wraps because it’s new technology and the people that purchased these defective devices are caught in the middle of it all.

I haven’t had a properly working $1400 phone in almost a year and none of the companies are taking responsibility. There should be a warning before you purchase these phones that the carrier does not honor the warranty and it’s in the POS manufacturers hands.

I am a fan of the Samsung environment in the past and have been looking for a phone with a small form. The Galaxy Z flip was perfect for this. Once folded it is no larger than my wallet. Furthermore, the features are enough that I can do everything that I want to do.

The camera is also nothing special, but it does take excellent pictures. I also really enjoy finding new ways to utilize the fold feature. For example it is really nice to use the 90 degree feature to watch videos while eating.

The front screen preview is very nice for taking pictures with. Furthermore, I like how videos will continue to play even when it is folded closed and along with Samsung/Omny Pay. One major downside is the battery life.

For anything longer than 8 hours you will have to intermittently charge to make it through the day. As a researcher who listens to music and podcasts I need watch the battery life and charge to at least 50% every 5/6 hours.

Overall though it is a simple phone with an interesting gimmick that makes it small enough to fit in any pocket which but at the cost of a significantly smaller battery.

Perfect phone for someone with medium to small hands who does not want to go on compromise when it comes to processor or camera. This is an all-in-one enclosed in a handy size and made of very good material quality/details oriented.

You get that ‘premium-feel’ with it. It feels heavy for its size and is sturdy – metal frame helps that feeling. The big camera lenses are very ‘eye-catching’. They stick out a bit physically yet it does not disturb in use.

Gimbal is working very well – the videos are stable even when you shoot in motion. Compared to my daughters’ Samsung A53, the videos look more professional as they are stable. I think this feature could be very useful for a next generation of rising tiktok stars (facepalm).

If you think that small is beautiful (actually it is not that small, it is ‘normal’ just before everyone got crazy with the screens) and you don’t have a need to impress others on the size part, this is the phone for you.

Das ist beim Samsung anders. Interessant ist auch, dass das 5. 9″ Asus als Kompakt-König angepriesen wird. Der Body ist aber beinahe identisch, oder sogar noch etwas grösser als beim 6. 1″ S22. Die Ränder ums Display sind halt nur ein wenig fetter.

i’m an avid Apple user and have been since the release of the iPhone 5. i used to have the iPhone 5 and iPhone 7, then made a major upgrade to the iPhone 12 in July 2021. ever since i’ve gotten it, i’ve had little to no issues with it.

at first, the new layout without the home button and new notch was confusing, but i got the hang of it in less than a week. not being able to see my battery percentage without going into the control centre is a little annoying, but it doesn’t pose as a challenge.

other than that, i occasionally get frustrated with the home bar when i’m trying to get out of my games. moving onto functionality, the phone runs a lot more smoothly and quickly and has better quality than previous models.

audio, visual, and camera quality are all excellent—i personally am very pleased with the new quality of the phone speakers while playing music or watching YouTube. even with constant use of my phone for an entire day, i maybe have to charge my phone once before it hits 20%.

my battery health to this day (17 January 2022) is 91%, but it’s only because i frequently kept it on for an upwards of 72 hours before turning it off and charged it overnight while i slept and YouTube played in the background.

i’m a bit bias, but i love the Apple operating system and it’s design and functionality. i’ve never had problems with apps closing themselves (minus bugs with the app itself) or randomly ended calls.

sometimes, my Face ID won’t read my face, but that’s it. lastly, the design. i got the blue iPhone 12 and the phone is very sleek and stylish. the colour is vibrant, the glass back feels a lot better than aluminium, and the flat edges give a better look and grip on the phone than rounded edges.

even though the phone is slightly bigger than the iPhone 7, it’s still easy to hold and is lightweight. i’m very clumsy and drop my phone a lot, and my screen or the back glass doesn’t have a single scratch or crack (disclaimer: i do have a phone case, but not a screen protector).

the only downside, in my opinion, is the price. it’s a lot more pricier than earlier models, but with the release of new iPhones, the price of the iPhone 12 is going down to a relatively decent price.

if you have the money and want an upgrade, i definitely recommend the iPhone 12. :).

I still remember the days when people were making fun of Samsung and the likes for launching multiple phones in one go. So much to choose from and Apple was just limited to a couple devices and those few were class apart and had unique USP’s.

Well, times have changed and I guess Apple has gone bonkers. They are crazily launching phone after phone with few tangible differences. I guess it’s not the way it was when Steve Jobs was leading. Anyways, this review is about iPhone 12 and boy oh boy it’s classy.

I opted for Purple and it’s simply mind blowing. Mind you – No significant difference here between the 12 phones launched in the last few years alone (iPhone 11, 12, 13 and their sub versions). iOS 14 and 15 gave some massive updates but not the iPhones per se.

Apple still has some unique creative juice left and knows how to deliver classy products albeit make crazy profits on each device. Back to iPhone 12 – It’s sleek & sexy with a minimalist design. The touch and feel of this iPhone is heavenly.

The performance is another feather in the cap. Smooth as butter and the output is simply remarkable. I have used multiple Android phones for a decade and I can confidently say that the iPhone 12 peaks amongst them.

iPhone 12 also happens to be 4 times stronger than its predecessor in terms of screen strength/resistance. It’s also water resistant upto 6 mts for about 30 minutes. The Audio/Sound quality is superb when used with Apple’a own products/AirPods.

The video quality is simply stunning. It’s so vivid and lively and a treat to music and movie lovers. Battery though is a bummer. I guess iPhone 12 has some serious battery performance issues. A look at their community page says a lot about many users feeling the same about battery output.

iPhone 12 is and will continue to be a solid iPhone at least till iPhone 14 is lunched (only if some tangible and unique features come with it)Apple sure has a funny way of showcasing their love towards nature.

Someone from their strategy team got a light bulb moment aka enlightenment and suggested they stop including Adapters and the rest is history. Hope that strategy person has been handsomely rewarded with a slew of perks/promotions for his love towards nature by the Apple CSuite.

For now, it’s the best iPhone money can buy at least for me and I pretty much like the minute asthetics Apple focuses on. Hope this momentum continues.

My Lordy. I swear Apple is getting less and less careless about there products and more money hungry. I originally had the XR but sadly lost it and was in need of an immediate phone after almost a week without one.

I have to say that the XR is by far better than the 12 in my opinion. I have had nothing but troubles with this phone and the need for constant restarts (that’s if I can’t get it to restart) If an app isn’t working, then it’s my messages.

If that’s not working then my screen gets frozen. If it’s not that I can’t search through my apps by the pull down menu we’re it says Siri suggestions. Everything is incredibly delayed or frozen. I also was disappointed after paying over $1,000 for this phone, Apple decided to stop putting in the headphones that have the built in adapter.

After paying that much money for a PHONE- I think it’s the least they could do. If I wasn’t using iPhone for years, I would switch to by god anything else. My boyfriends Walmart phone works better than this over priced thing.

My step mother who has an iPhone 13 as well, I’d like to note, is just as bad. We both continuously don’t have signal when it says full bars. We have never had this problem before with any other iPhone and have been using Verizon for years.

I would not recommend this device to anyone unless you like fighting for it to work everyday. One positive is the camera. Thaaaats about it. Lastly, I had an incredibly hard time connecting my iCloud to this phone when my photos wouldn’t transfer- yet I could see them on my Macbook… Apple support was no help by any means with this until one day the photos were randomly back on my phone.

Nothing but troubles.

(with a phone this nice I still like to always get a screen protector, they have awesome designs and custom ones for cases sold on castify. com I even found cute little sparkle individual camera lens covers to put on for extra protection (and it’s a cute touch! They have tons of colors on Amazon that will work with any Apple 11 up! The 13 Pro Max comes in four colors, including blue, gold, graphite (gray), and silver.

The blue is very cool and elegant, as you can see below. CONS- BIG HEAVY Like other phones its size, this is more of a bag phone than a pocket phone. It fits in my coat and jacket pockets, but it’ll stick out of most pants pockets but I’ve noticed over the years so did just about every iPhone from the 6 and up! OVERALL I RECOMMENDED THIS 100% I am an Mac/Apple user is all things from phones, watches, laptops, TVs.

You name it if it has an apple on it, it’s definitely in our household!.

The tri-camera 2019 model never failed to underperform when compared to Samsung, Google phone, or Blackberry images. The 13 has a noticeable upgrade in richness to what I would consider ‘acceptable’, though Apple is still far from the capabilities I’ve seen on the aforementioned models.

Low light photo has improved, but video still looks 5 years behind, pixelated and grainy like an entry-level DSLR. The photographic styles prior to shooting are a game-changer for me. The attribute I disliked most about the iPhone 11 Pro Max camera was the yellowed appearance of shots right off the device; I would forever be decreasing the warmth and filtering important moments.

On the 13 you can set a pre-filter, more or less, that eliminates the yellowed look with multiple options. The portrait and cinematic modes can be rewarding, but ultimately the device is using an algorithm to edge detect and I’m not into the fake blurs around people, which is what you would mostly be capturing with the high aperture…lots more work to be done there.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the call quality bump as well. Perhaps that was an update from the 12, but I just exited a loud car and when the other end of my call could not hear me with my Sony XM4s (yes call quality is still trash on their flagship headphone model), switching to the phone directly eliminated all surrounding sound other than my voice—the 11 wasn’t quite that notable in loud environments.

As far as pricing is concerned $1099 is the standard these days, so without a price increase I don’t have anything negative to say. To me, the value I get over 2 years from a device worth that pays for itself 20 times over.

With Verizon’s trade-in discount my upgrade cost $99 and tax—the decision was clear. FYI: Def don’t need another wall charger after receiving the 20v with the 11. the 30v usb bricks also work…so no worries on the footprint reduction.

I really wanted to like this phone but I can’t, I just can’t. The build quality and look of this phone is just so good, but thats all there is to it. This is my second iphone since the iPhone 7 plus which I loved and had for years, first major problem is no charger in the box, fu** you apple! Environment my a** you are just trying to cut corners and save money by selling us a $1,000 plus phone and no charger or headphones in the box? Like who in this world unbox their phone and throws the charger away? Nobody, and what’s really sick about this is that they tell you oh well you have a charger at home, but the cable that’s in the box does not fit my old charger so in order to get the proper charging speed, you have to buy another charger! I mean how are people okay with this? How does this not insult you, by spending you’re hard earned $1000 and now you have to spend another $30-50 to get a charger to fit the dumb cable if you want the proper charging speed for this phone, plus another $40 on wired headphones that are also not included.

That’s like if you buy a house and lets say its $400,000, once you are inside there is no central air conditioning or heating, does not matter how much money you have, now you have to jump through all the hoops and spend $8,000 to get a unit installed and thats just unacceptable.

Second major issue is the lighting cable, now I had my iPhone 7 plus for a while then moved to android for about 2 years and decided to try the iphone again since they finally added 120hz display, but I had no idea this thing still had a lighting cable before I unboxed it.

Yo apple what’s with you and the lighting cable? The lighting cable in a nutshell killed this experience entirely for me because everything in my house is usb type c, even my cheap gadgets are usb type c, now I need a bunch of adapters, and did i mention that data transfer on the lighting cable is so slow its about as painful to watch as an old man with a hemorrhoid sit on a cactus?? And now I need to take 2 separate cords like bro just stop apple, let the lighting cable go already.

But yea that right there killed it for me, I can’t have this phone simply because of the lighting cable, it is just a huge inconvenience for me. But if the lighting cable does not bother you for some odd reason, here are a couple more problems.

Third major issue is overheating issue, boy o boy does this phone have alot of horsepower under the hood, but as soon as you even think about pushing the horsepower, this baby gets HOOOOOOOT especially if you use navigation then forget about it.

This thing gets so hot it lags and then dims the screen so much to the point where you can’t see the display, even with simple task the screen just keeps diming and its hugely annoying, obviously there is no proper cooling for all of this horsepower in this phone so it’s pretty much a gimic at this point, I mean if you are a person who just calls, then you will have no overheating issues, but if you use navigation alot, STAY FAR FAAAAAAAAR AWAY FROM THIS PHONE.

Fourth problem is no always on display so you have to keep tapping the screen to see your time and notifications, im not even gonna get into this, $1000 and no always on display? Thats a major L. Fifth major problem is I can’t see my battery percentage on the top right corner like I could with my 7 plus or android phone, so I have to swipe the screen down to see it, why apple? And the last problem is no fingerprint sensor, now I don’t understand why they force you to have one or the other, why not both face unlock and fingerprint sensor? Ever heard of options apple? Anyways I can talk about this phone forever and I really did want to like this phone but I’m gonna have to stick with android until they at least add usb type c for God sake.

Stay away from this phone.

I personally didn’t really think this phone was going to be worth it, I had my previous 11 pro for about 2 1/2 years and still thought it was a solid phone however the past couple weeks I started having issues with my 11 pro lagging so I decided it was time to upgrade.

I have only been using this phone for a few hours and can already tell a MAJOR difference between 13 pro and 11 pro. The smaller notch is definitely nice, the bezels around the phone are slightly smaller, it’s ever so slightly bigger than the 11 pro but not major, closer to the size of the regular 11 which combined with the smaller bezels definitely give it a bigger screen.

The colors on the screen are incredibly bright that’s one of the first things i noticed when I got it. I personally don’t see a huge difference with the faster refresh rate but it is nice to have. I wouldn’t upgrade just for that reason.

The speakers are significantly louder, the power button is ever so slightly lower so it’s easier to press, 5G is SUPER FAST that’s one of the biggest improvements I’ve noticed internet speed over data is much faster than my 11 pro.

And the cameras god I could write a whole paragraph about them but the biggest improvement I notice is the zoom. You can zoom much further & much clearer than the 11 pro. I picked up a MagSafe charger & a MagSafe compatible otter box and I already like that new feature a lot.

I’m sure I am forgetting some things. I’ve only had this phone 3 hours and already can tell SOOO MUCH IMPROVEMENT. I can’t speak for the iPhone 12 users I’ve never had a 12 but if you have an 11 or below definitely consider this iPhone! Also the sierra blue color is beautiful I had the midnight green 11 pro which I liked but the blue color is much nicer! Probably the only complaint I can think of is it doesn’t have usbc I really wish Apple would make the switch to usb c.

It also does not come with a charger block in the box so if you don’t have a 12 or 20w usbc block You will probably want one of those too especially if you’re planning on using MagSafe.

I upgraded to this from an 11 pro max and read many reviews before deciding on this or another max pro. I decided to just go for the pro size because of how much heavier the 13 pro Max is compared to the 11 & I don’t really notice that big a difference in screen size.

It is thicker than my previous phone & is very reminiscent of the 5s in looks, which almost seems like the company are going backwards. I have also moved from 256gb to the 512gb as I like to download a lot of music.

The colour is a lovely dark grey. I was going to go for the sierra blue but it was never in stock, but on reflection I prefer this as it goes with any colour phone case. It was easy to set up as you just sit your previous phone beside it, if it is an iPhone and it guides you through & transfers all the things from your previous phone.

I find it easy to use and can see the difference in screen from my 11 pro, it seems brighter & crisper. It is also much quicker when using the internet & apps. Be aware the cost is the same, but you no longer get a charger plug, in the box it is just the phone, the simm tool and a usb-c lightening cable.

I have purchased MagSafe chargers which are really clever and use a clear Apple case with MagSafe, which means I don’t have to remove case to charge phone. I also had to purchase plugs for these as they didn’t come with them, so if you are buying and want to use MagSafe for charging, bear in mind the extra costs involved in buying all these extra things if you don’t have them.

The camera lenses really stick out, much more than my 11 did, but the quality of the photos and videos is incredible. I took a video last night and then air played it onto our tv and was so impressed with the clarify.

The zoom seems much better than the 11 on taking photos. I have used iPhones since the original for home and have to use android at work, so can compare. Honestly, I tend to avoid my android work phone at all costs as for me I find it much more complex to use than an iPhone.

Obviously iPhones are never cheap and I buy outright, as don’t want to be locked into a phone contract. But with very you do get the good options of buy now pay later etc, so it means I can buy then save each month to pay it off in full when it is due.

Prior to the iPhone 13, I had the Product(RED) iPhone SE (2020) which I loved, I chose to upgrade as a birthday gift to myself, there was nothing wrong with my Product (RED) iPhone SE (2020) [which if you were considering a more lucrative upgrade, I highly recommend].

The iPhone 13 despite not being the Pro or ProMAX has everything I want and more. The camera quality is impecable for it’s time, and as an Online University student I really appreciate recording my videos with this camera and the cinematic feature.

Also the biggest difference(s) I’ve noticed are battery life, 5G and Storage space, that of which my iPhone SE did NOT have. 5G is truly a game changer, in regards to quality streaming and network. 128G storage vs 64G storage also helps with how quickly my iPhone processes data.

Lastly battery life, it’s not something I even think about anymore, and I know just like the rest this will become more noticeable with time. Separately I would like to encourage purchasing Product(RED) since you’re already considering purchasing an iPhone.
