20 Best Dual Screen Portable Dvd Player (2023 Updated)

Neat travel gadget for passengers (kids) when on a road trip. Good for car and home use. CONS: The players are remote-control dependent, so if it’s busted or lost, you’re out of luck controlling the players’ extra and main features.

The remotes are tiny, jammed packed with LOTS of buttons, which are somewhat hard to press. Each player comes with its own remote and cannot be used interchangeably. The viewing angle on the screen is like a budget LED…it will look washed out unless viewing it straight-on.

On the road, changing DVDs will be a pain since the player will have to be unharnessed from the car headrest holder to open the disc chamber. PROS: Volume is not loud by design, since the player harness is installed right behind the driver/front passenger car headrests, so plug-in headphones are suggested for a better listening experience (no Bluetooth).

The player will remember where it was stopped and resume play, unless the DVD is taken out or power is not maintained. A (flimsy, non-padded) carrying case is included to hold the players and accessories.

An auto power Y-adaptor and 2 household plugs are included. Will see if the player can last a year or more. Read other reviews about how these players will die between 1 to 12 months from use. For the price ($130), I hope the value is there.

I bought these to replace a pair of Sony ones because these are bigger and have a remote and I hate them. The remote is pointless as you can operate it from the front seat so what’s the point? And rarely works even when you point it directly at the player.

And the buttons on it don’t work! I find myself pulled over standing outside the car pressing buttons and holding it down to get it to work. When you try to select items on a menu of a dvd like on kids dvds where it says “play all”, it won’t select.

It just goes to next option and starts playing so you have to constantly start new episodes. And when you finally get it to something you want to play it wants you to hold down the play button to start it but you have to hold it forever.

And sometimes instead of play it stops. The buttons on the front make no sense. Once you finally get it playing it is fine other than the constant having to stop and play another episode. I wish I would have kept my Sony ones, these are not worth the trouble.

We bought this for our 800 mile road trip with the hope it would distract the kids for some time. We didn’t turn it on until we began our journey and when we did we saw that one of the screens was broken (black and red lines) it was extremely upsetting , considering the fact we had never used it and was brand new! We had to make due with one screen for the remainder of the trip and ultimately returned it when we got back.

The other issue with this DVD player is that the sound is not good for highway driving. The maximum volume was hardly audible for the kids sitting in the back seat. I noticed some of the reviews had mentioned this before I purchased it but figured it couldn’t be so bad , but I was wrong.

If you are just doing regular street driving the volume is fine , but with the loud sounds of driving on highway it makes a huge difference. We ended up returning it when we got home because it just wasn’t worth the money and what we expected.

I bought this for when I have my Grandkids because they don’t like long rides. My 3 year old granddaughter was super excited when she saw it and watched it the entire time while I drove her to an out of town doctor’s appointment.

The 2 year watched as well and it kept him quiet for the majority of the trip. Great investment, so glad I purchased it!.

Everything works well. Only complaints I have are that the power cord is not long enough and the straps for holding it to the headrest are not designed very well. The screen quality is good and the sound is louder than I expected.

The kids love it.

Very disappointed that my son was only able to enjoy it for part of a ride. The DVD player scratched every dvd we tried. Will definitely spend a few more dollars next time to get a quality dvd player

It’s bigger than I expected, but it isn’t heavy. It feels like a laptop. It’s noisy when you put a dvd in so it’s best to wear ear plugs so you don’t hear it the whole time. The color of the screen makes me feel like I’m watching a VHS tape from the 90s.

It’s just not the best quality, but considering what I paid and what it does I don’t expect HD or 4k. It works for what I need it for. The battery life is a joke, so, you can watch maybe one average running time movie.

I wanted to binge watch a series, but an hour and a half in I have to charge it. Which takes a full 6 hours. Which is what I wish my viewing time could be.

I like the size of the screen, that you can have it plugged in at home or in the car. The only thing I can think of that would be negative is that it would be nice if the volume was able to be a little louder.

It does come with headphones though. Other than that no complaints. I have ordered four more for my daughters who have small children. We have SO MANY dvds and now have any easy way to watch them. It is amazing that you don’t have to have internet connection for this product LOL.

Very pleased with the Sylvania 15. 6 inch portable DVD player SDVD 1566. This player is a good value for the price. The screen size, image quality, and sound qualities are also very good. The DVD player, cords, and remote fit nicely in the Case Logic 17.

3 inch padded laptop brief case. I recommend this DVD player and the Case Logic carry case.

I bought this so the children could be entertained in long trips. We visit family often and road trips can become extra long if the kids aren’t busy and happy. The tablets don’t always have service, which can become an issue at times.

This was exactly what we were looking for and very affordable compared to others with same two screens style. We’ve used this twice already and they have not disappointed. Image is pretty decent, the DVDS do not skip a bit and really lasts a few hours on its own which is the most impressive feature.

I’m Hoping it’ll keep battery life to its outmost performance such as now for when we are on plane rides. It comes with various plugs which is convenient since we also travel abroad quiet often. Set up was a breeze and it also comes with a remote control.

I bought this for my infant son because we have an hour + drive to visit family once a week so 2 hours min spent in the car and he needed something to occupy him. This is perfect for an infant since it was so CHEAP.

But by the time he is a toddler he will start to complain about how CHEAP this was made. The volume goes up to 20 and on 20 I cannot hear this in my front seat with him directly behind me. You have to turn the volume to 15 before you can hear the DVD’s sound over the DVD actually spinning in the player.

It spins so loudly inside the player, it’s unbelievable. My husband thought I dropped it and I had to convince him otherwise! Again, I only spent $50 on this and it’s for an infant to use in the car.

If it were for anything else I’d throw a fit and return this. Oh the screen quality is pretty good. I’ve never had another portable DVD player before so I have nothing to compare it to. I mean it’s nothing like my actual TV at home, so comparing this to a real tv it’s horrible.

But for a little $50 portable thing it’s pretty good! I gave it 2 starts just because of the loud sound of the DVD spinning inside of the player and the lack of volume. Overall I am generally pleased with the dvd player. However, I communicated via an on-line chat regarding my concerns about what video formats that work on the portable player. I specifically asked if 4×3 (1.

33×1) formatted films can be played without any video distortion. The person I chatted with said it was possible to play classic films originally formatted to the 1. 33×1 proportion–sans any distortion.

However, that is not true. So, I had to find another player to view my classic movies without the terrible “horizontal stretch” that these films receive when viewed on the Best Buy branded product. I was, to be sure, disappointed–as the Insignia has great picture quality.

And the sound is quite good considering it’s a portable.

Honestly, this lil’ guy is worth the buy. Used it in our daughter’s room for a week and it held up well and was easy to use (yes, we trusted it with a youngster and it’s still intact). We didn’t have any issues with the speakers, the volume was loud enough to hear in other rooms (it’s not going to be like having a sound system or large TV, but it does what it needs to do) and quality overall was on par for a portable player.

Mine came with offer to extend manufacturer warranty from 90-day to 1 year; but I prefer short mfr wty and purchase Walmart’s superior Square Trade/AllState Protection Plan to start sooner for mfr defect or power surge damage (Standard Plan doesn’t cover accident/other loss).

Got the DVD player quickly {faster than I thought: thank you QVC}. No real set up. charged it up, (it runs off the DC charger as well, but the portability may be important to other users. I am quite sedentary) and instructions were written well, easily understood.

Nice clear picture, important to me since I have somewhat limited vision. So sitting this on a leisure table close, allows me a nice, clear view of the screen. I have learned that this DVD player is much more than just a player.

it is quite versatile, a very pleasant surprise. I am not very knowledgeable about MP3’s , USB usage and such but that’s why I have grandchildren. They’ll get me through all the vagaries and nuances.

I bought this because of the rating reviews of the customers on Walmart and Amazon. It was given 5 star reviews for excellence. I bought this to replace my old 13. 5 one of a different brand which I was happy with because it lasted 5 years of abuse from my Autistic grandson who is a major movie watcher.

I bought this for my own personal use and I love the size, screen, colors and it also plays my DVD-R discs too. It automatically reads the discs as DVD or CD which is nice. The buttons are easily marked and I’m glad that it comes with a book that helps me know how to work it.

I’ve bought more than one of these lightweight multi-format players, the 14-inch is plenty for my DVDs and USB films, easy Setting “PAL” = compat with both US and UK Regions. Easy big button toggles screen off/on for CDs and USB including MP3, MP4, CD-ROM, and more (not M4A my laptop plays though not Apple).

I haven’t tried to copy disc to USB yet, nor used Photos and Game modes. For hard to hear UK accents/mumbling, either plug a headphone with a volume dial into the standard jack round hole; or clip a laptop speaker amplifier atop, and plug into headphone jack for sound, and standard USB port for power.

This product is great!! I love the dvd player. It is so easy to use and it works great. I think it is priced right and it has many pros. The screen is clear and it is very nice. It is really enjoyable because you can watch all your favorite movies.

this worked great, I had to buy headphones but all in all, this was perfect. My 8-year-old grandson could figure it out without help.

My grandson is in the Navy and travels alot. I felt like his baby could enjoy some baby videos on the long rides. It’s a beautiful gift. I can’t wait to see them to give it to them.

So far so good. I have to admit I was expecting it to be a little better quality constructed. It is very lightweight. I purchased this for my 2 year old grandson and it works fine placing it in the car using the convenient carrying case that it came with but not something that I would rely on him carrying around or using freely.

Think its okay for hanging in a vehicle though.

Shows a great picture, great for travel, accessories for mobile usage included. I’m really happy with my purchase. Great value, arrived early. I would definitely buy again and I reccomend it especially if you have small children or grandchildren.

First thing I did was put in a dvd that would normally skip and freeze on my old player. Loaded and played much better than expected. My mount is for a small scene so the new 13+ screens are too big.

Plus this has a sleek battery the will last if you want to play it anywhere. The new players don’t have good sound. This Sony one does! No issues hearing it, button design is near perfect, plays scratched discs, and is going to last more than two years! If you you find one, get it.

This item was scratched and broken. It was priced too expensive. I thought this was a new item. This is a very very used battery. I could of bought a whole new DVD player, battery, and charger for less than what I bought the battery for.

My mistake for not shopping around.

While planning a roadtrip with my toddler son, I thought that a portable DVD player might be my secret weapon in fighting off the fussies and, thank goodness, it worked like a charm! I spent a week or so doing research on different models and decided that in this case, it was going to be worth a semi-expensive price tag in order to get a durable high quality product.

Right off we discovered that the sound and picture quality was exceptional, even through the speakers and without headphones. The controls were a little tricky to learn at first, they are similar to the touchpad on a laptop, and respond well to light touch and not so well to attempts to “push” the buttons.

There is a button for going up and down on the menu list, designed like the + on a video game controller, that is sometimes hard to control due to it’s small size. My favorite features are the swivel screen, it can rotate 180 degrees and even fold down to a tablet style, and the remote, which seems to work from nearly any angle, including from behind the player.

The battery life is great, it’s not too heavy, the screen is large (for a portable model), and performance so far has been stellar. All in all, well worth the price tag especially with the good financing offer we recieved.

I’m definitely happy we made the splurge!.

I bought this a week ago after the purchase of a new vehicle, unfortunately the model I got didn’t have DVD players which was high on my wish list. I’m Not sorry at all, this set is great! The only thing is my suv has 3 rows of seating so sometimes it’s not loud enough but honestly it still has a really good volume for the kids in second row and for myself and husband In the front.

I’d buy again in a heartbeat! Best price and best product. Love that kids can have earphones, regularly or over my radio. Highly recommend, great picture.

We’ve used these on about 6 or 7 roadtrips. – Poor sound/volume level – Key controls dependent on one of two remotes. Lose that remote and you lose some functionality (most importantly for us was mirroring the screens to show the same disc) – USB integration never worked – Occasional skipping issues – One of the devices started resetting video to beginning on a regular basis – Picture visibility is hampered by daylight – Harness for attaching to seat could be a lot better Having said all this above, they were a godsend as we didn’t have tablets to use when we bought them.

That is except for the one trip where we forgot the key remote and both kids wanted to watch the same thing, as well as the developing technical issues on a product that was used only a handful of times.

If you can afford a couple of cheap tablets that you can load up with Netflix/video downloads, you are much better off.

My first impression of this DVD player was at least 4/5 stars. The screens are large with decent picture quality. The longer I had it the less I liked it. The slot to thread the strap on the back broke the first time I used it.

The other 3 slots also broke over the next few trips we took. I had to improvise to hang them. The screen on the second screen popped inward off of the casing. It still worked at first, but soon stopped working entirely.

There is no remote with this set, which I knew upon purchase, but they are poorly set up for use without a remote. Navigating the DVDs is in no way easy or convenient. I had several other minor issues.

I was not fully satisfied with any aspect of this set. Especially because I would expect higher quality at this price.

Good condition, everything works. Slight signs of wear on the top of the hinge where the two speakers are. Nice screen for viewing. Remote control is useful as you can change the screen settings such as colour + brightness.

Won’t play blu ray disks. All leads supplied for use at home and for the car. Arrived very quickly. I would recommend this dvd player for adults, not really suitable for children as this is not a strong product and could be broken quite easily if not treated with some respect.

Bought this right after Christmas for my wife to also be able to watch videos when taking 3+ hour van trips. Each of our 3 kids has smaller screen DVD players on head rests. Wanted something bigger but laptop type style.

The size of 12 in has been great for my wife. Also nice to use in bed. Adjustable screen has worked very well. As others have said you really do need headphones as speakers are pretty weak. The picture is clear and functions as you would expect a personal DVD player to function.

I’d recommend this. I bought it to watch some instructional DVD’s without hogging the big TV. It fits the bill. easy to operate, picture is excellent, seems built to last. I’m happy with this purchase.

The antenna that came with it would not pick up any channels. When I used a different indoor antenna I was able to get 25 local channels. When I connected the TV to my roof antenna it picked up over 40 channels, The DVD player worked great.

For the price; you cant beat it. The playback on dvd mode is smooth and the sound is really good. Tv mode isnt bad; but you need to keep the antenna as high as possible. Overall its a very nice unit.

The motor that drives the dvd itself is a bit noisy, but the sound drowns it out well enough. The remote works very well and is very responsive. Not bad!.

I bought this at bi-mart. So I could give it to my grandkids when they are with me. I was disappointed when you can barely hear a sound. The sound will go in and out. Using the headset the same you can hear it then no sound what so ever then a few minutes through you can hear it again.

I feel it was a waste of money and my time. I tried looking it up on YouTube for help on fixing it I got no help there. So I got expensive dvd player that has no sound.

I haven’t had a chance to use this product much yet. I bought for personal use to watch movies in my room while my family does things in the living room. The sound quality is fine and so is the picture, if perhaps a little bit dark.

The product has a smell when it is new but I’m sure it will dissipate over time. I am looking forward to using this product more.

I pair the headphones with the player. No cords to get in the way. I have it right there to change movies. I wanted something that had a screen bigger than my phone screen. I glad the play is compact and light weight.

It’s easy to use but I suggest reading the instructions.

We purchased the DVD player for my Brother-in-law during his last visit as a late Xmas present. He works on the road a lot & this was a perfect gift. He put it to use almost immediately & began working his way through our DVD collection.

It was when we took it out to the garage to use an instructional DVD for a wood working project that I got a close up on the unit. I found the picture to be clear & the colors good. Not quite up to our plasma TV, but excellent for a portable player.

I thought the sound from the built in speaker to be somewhat tinny, not entirely unexpected, but when using ear buds, the quality was excellent! Brother was pleased & for the price we paid, so were we.

I absolutely love the convenience of this product. I am able to take it anywhere. There is no setup or anything needed to start using the product right away. I was able to just turn the dvd player on and pop a CD in and start watching it as soon as I go it.

I use it for work. Customers have commented on how professional it looks and how good the quality of the picture is. Although I was a little apprehensive about how small the screen was, its only a 9″ screen, you can see the picture well.

This is not a good DVD player. The screen is too dark. I watched the same DVDs on my last player and the picture was terrific. This picture is dark. Also, the volume is terrible. I do have a hearing problem, but even on the loudest setting.

I can barely hear it – even with my headphones I have trouble. Would not recommend.

I liked the idea of a tablet with DVD player. However, I did not like the design. DVD section was difficult to access – didn’t open very much to put in DVD. I tried playing DVD when tablet wasn’t fully charged and it wouldn’t play.

Unclear how to actually play the DVD.

I purchased this product because it has two different products attached to it. I can use the tablet when I want to use the internet and the DVD to watch movies while on trips in the car. This item is GREAT I LOVE IT!!!!.

This is an actual review and not someone who bought one of these, used it once and thought it was a wonderful thing. like most people who write reviews. I have used one that I bought on EBay for about 2.

5 yrs when needed. The picture is good. The sound/speaker is poor and, most of the time, on the loudest setting, you can barely here it. All the buttons/controls do not work unless you push them really hard several times.

And then sometimes, the button does what the button beside it should do. It was like this from new. The last straw for this thing with me was that the power port for the a/c adapter started to not work sometime b/c it had gotten loose.

Overall, this is a very poor quality device and I would not recommend anyone buying it. I only wrote this review because I got on ebay to get another one and came accross this one that I could review and try to help some folks out.

DO NOT BUY THIS MODEL.

There is apparently no AV output option for this device. There is an aux port LABELED “AV output,” but no cable combination we tried could achieve output of audio OR visual to our TV. I wrote the manufacturer multiple emails simply asking them to point me toward a compatible cable.

The “same rep” would respond insisting that someone would call me – it has been 17 days with no reply to this very basic question. I am disgusted with Sylvania’s poor product and utter lack of customer service.

If you intend to use entirely as a contained unit, it has been functional enough, but personally I’ve concluded that this company does not value its customers and I will not be supporting them through any future purchases.

This is a cheap product. The console buttons NEVER worked properly–could operate only with remote. The battery only worked a couple of times; after that could only use if plugged in. The picture and sound were decent.

None of the modes ever worked except playing a DVD. I got about 3 yrs. use & then it just abruptly stopped working. If you think 3 yrs. is ok, you’ve gotten too used to junk. I am a single adult who always handled the player carefully.

Also, the manual was clearly written by someone who didn’t speak English well, and while I don’t begrudge that at all, it does speak to cheap out-sourcing.

Awful, got it for Christmas in 2020, after a month it started malfunctioning. Now it won’t even play DVD’s, do no recommend for anyone

Love it! Keep the little one entertained. A the part I like the most is the memory future that picks up where it stopped previously and you don’t have to keep starting over.
