IšverstiShow in original languageRecently purchased to upgrade from my 6000w / 8250w generator to support our electric heating if we were to lose power during the winter. Tested the unit today and appears to handle the job much easier than the previous portable generator.

Setup isn’t awful but I do wish the funnel tube to get the oil in that was provided was an inch or two longer to make it easier to pour. Battery placement is a bit annoying to get to. I had two back surgeries so to have to get to the floor level and either snake the negative cable in, even after removing the plate in-front of the battery, took some work.

The manual doesn’t really go over needing to connect the negative terminal. It goes over how to hook up the cables to charge the battery but doesn’t go over the negative terminal in the earlier parts of the setup.

Something I’d like to see added to the manual is perhaps the wrench sizes needed called out, as I can imagine if you don’t hang onto the supplied wrenches that you’d like an easy way to determine the size needed.

(Only time I see a size is for the drain and gap plug). Comes with a double sided screw driver. Don’t see it referenced in the manual and don’t see where it is used/needed. Even with my notes, I would say setup is on average with any other generators.

Output presently seems accurate and able to operate the whole house. Living in a heavily wooded area, we lose power after many storms and the real test will be in the winter in the Northeast.

I bought the dual fuel (propane and gas) XP12000EH, very simple set up and to run. DuroMax has changed the way you buy generators in Florida, before DuroMax you would by a Generac whole house generator for $30,000.

00! No matter what anyone says its $30k! By the time you install the generator, fuel type (natural or propane), labor, concrete pad, transfer switch, etc. BUT, it only does your home; you can take it on the road if needed.

So, what you do in Florida or anyplace you need power. You still install the transfer switch ($500), buy the cord ($125) and a window A/C unit ($300). I paid $940. 74 for my DuroMax XP12000EH generator on Amazon day….

yes Free shipping! So, I do have to go out in the rain before hurricane to plug it in and turn on generator, so my DuroMax powers everything in my house (I have natural gas stove, water heater and dryer), but all lights (which I switched to LED) and refrigerator.

I put the window unit A/C in the main area and directly plug into generator. So all lights and appliances work and my home is cool enough to live in. But, my costs are total like $2000. 00. So what did I do with the other money I saved on this generator? Glad you asked! HAHA.

I bought a trailer and two ATVs, my son and I stay in the trailer that has A/C shower and toilet. That cost me $17000. 00. Which we take my DuroMax generator on the road to power the trailer when we go ATVing!! So, for like $19k I am comfortable in my home during power outages and get to spend quality fun times with my son.

We were camping and this generator was so powerful the people next to us had an issue with their Honda generator, I just told them to plug into mine, and my generator powered both with no issue! So yes, the Generac turns on by its self during a power outage.

But, I don’t mind walking to my DuroMax generator in the rain to turn a key to start it and save $28,000. 00! Just saying I think my way is much better!!.

IšverstiShow in original languageI have had this generator for several years, Thankfully i have only had to use it a few times as a backup power, in the PacNW we really don’t get very many power outages however during an unprecedented ice storm, in the last few years the power was out for almost two weeks.

I had this generator and being a dual fuel, running on propane. very clean and no worries about fuel going bad. This not only powered up my RV it also powered up my neighbors, about 10 of them all around me.

we had power, lights, heat, TV, all the amenities that are needed (ok the tv isn’t needed). The power wasn’t plentiful and there were only a few blips, mostly when someone would turn on more heaters.

however the 12,000 watts handled it with ease a bit of a flicker in the lights but everything kept going. Would shut off once a day to check the oil and change the 10 gallon propane tank (always had gasoline as a backup, but didn’t put any in the tank)The unit was running at about 3/4 load.

Gladly the outage was recovered from and the good ole generator had a oil change, spark plugs and then stored away for the next time. Great generator.

To my surprise it was not as loud as we were expecting, we hooked up a portable pancake compressor to charge it up and my wife even commented on how much louder the compressor was compared to the generator.

Do not misunderstand the generator is loud but compared to past generators we’ve had and this being a 9500 with up to 12500 start up this is not too bad for noise. Someone recommended a pulse flo muffler to quiet it down more, anyone else tried this yet? I had not considered westinghouse but after reading many reviews and researching we decided on this model.

First thing that grabbed my attention was the quick connect and disconnect for the battery, that makes it great for storage without any draw on the battery, may be minor but those are things that set it apart.

Second was the dual fuel option, the ability to run propane if out of gas. We went with the larger model because of the ability to kick on our well pump 400 feet down and run our variable booster pump.

Everything on our property is electric no gas available so this was the model for us with its extra power at start up. On this note this is something else that impressed me and leaned me to westinghouse; their power listing (on gas) was the running voltage, 9500 not the startup 12500, where other generators would list their startup voltage of the product instead of running volts.

So for the price and product comparison of multiple generators westinghouse was the choice for us, given we could have spent $500 or more for a “bigger name” that running and startup would be similar ,but for what I need and the price, based on numerous reviews this was my choice.

An extra that we’ve never had is the key fob, and it actually works, in the past everyone would shower and get ready for bed and Dad would have to go outside to shut down the generator get covered in exhaust, or rain, snow, whatever, now I push a button it stops.

Next morning dont have to bundle up and pull. pull, pull to fire the generator to get mommas coffee going just hit the button and it fires, nice touch. As I get older this push to start and key fob are nice to have, youth and pull start had their time but im not getting younger so push button start and key fob are way to go.

Many nice additions like the 50 amp option on this also drew me in, I like having the 30 and 50 option. Good generator good options happy with my choice for now. Now for a few things that could make this better, First a shutoff on the gas tank with an additional drain option, as on a quad with fuel on, off, and reserve selection.

This only has open fuel and close, to drain the tank I had to remove the line to completely drain the tank into a gas can, I do this now from the cheap gas we have too many carb cleanings and replacing gas tanks from bad gas, coating tanks and carbs.

yes I add stable and use higher octanes but just draining tanks has served me best. So i would suggest a 3 way fuel shutoff with a line for draining tank option. On that note, the gas tank, to completely drain or use all your gas you need to set the generator on an angle to get all gas to run to the shutoff.

Is an angled tank an option or a tank with a low spot at the shutoff an option? Other wise a cinder block to get it all to the shutoff works fine, except this plays in to the age again, getting it on that block is your work out.

A neutral observation; This 9500df is heavy, which makes it stable and is a huge deterrent for anyone thinking they are going to steal it, grab it ,load it in their truck and take off, If they can pick that sucker up by themselves its theirs.

I do like the weight for theft deterrent, but at the same time make sure you have a ramp to load this thing. For the weight it does move around easily wheels are nice, i prefer pneumatic but these move this unit fine on the hard surfaces.

, as for the handle I do like it tucks down out of the way and is at a good height for rolling. So overall great product good engineering ideas, I would recommend it, will work great for out in the property ,hopefully the engine and electric will last for as long as needed, but like auto insurance hopefully not needed very often.

Received my Westinghouse 9500DF generator, and overall I’m very pleased with it. I set it up this week to connect to my transfer switch to power some critical circuits in my house during power failures, which are unfortunately very common in the winter here in the Poconos.

Contrary to other reviews, I found the owners manual to be completely accurate. I’m running the unit with gasoline, and I also have a 40lb propane tank hooked up for longer outages. Switching between fuel sources while the unit is running is very simple, though the unit will stumble while the fuels are being purged, so I recommend removing load during a switch over to avoid a stall.

Starting the unit using the electric start is a real pleasure compared to the recoil starter on my old unit. A couple of caveats that aren’t clear in the pre-purchase material: 1) The 14-30 plug on the unit provides a maximum of 30 amps, as expected, but be aware that this means a maximum wattage of 7500 watts is intended to be carried on that cable.

If you need the full 9500 running wattage, that can only be supplied by the 50amp RV connector, which will not hook up directly to a 30 amp transfer switch. 2) In order to use the electric start (on the unit or using the remote) the battery switch on the generator must be in the “on” position.

This limits the utility of using the remote starter unless you’ve anticipated a power outage and had the forsight to turn the battery switch on. 3) The comes with a bonded neutral, which may not be appropriate for use with older transfer switches which do not switch the neutral.

In that circumstance, instructions are provided to make a minor alteration to unbond the neutral, but if you do, be aware that the GFCI protection on the built-in outlets will be lost, which could present a hazard.

Better to not use the built-in outlets if you’re going to be unbonding the neutral. Overall, a very solid product. I’ll be sure to follow up after I’ve used it through a northeast winter.

It appears to be a solid unit. It has enough power to support my entire home. All appliances function and can be used as normal, including central AC, window AC, two fridges, sump pump, dehumidifier, washer/dryer, dishwasher, etc.

although when the central AC comes on the inrush is a real kick in the groin for this unit but it does recover quickly and carries on. I did not buy this for the propane option (don’t want to take the hit on wattage) and I have two 30 gallon fuel drums, so I cannot attest to it’s functioning on propane as I have not tried that option.

Like many of the reviews out there for this unit, I had problems with getting this unit started. I don’t have any propane and I am disabled and incapable of using the pull-start, so the only choice I had was the auto-start sequence and gasoline.

I ran and restarted the sequence 4 times and it would not start. After going over this unit top to bottom with a fine tooth comb (had spark, was getting fuel to carburetor from tank) and after about 15 start cycles I finally found the problem.

The automatic choke apparently has a very weak actuator and the choke lever was barely brushing up against the backside of the PCV hose (which is inconveniently positioned horizontally directly in front of the choke lever) with enough force to stop the travel of the choke actuator before it reached the fully closed position and thus starving the engine during the start cycle.

I rerouted the PCV hose to run in front of a vertical line to the vapor canister which keeps the choke lever from brushing up against the PCV hose. Now, without interference the automatic choke functions properly and the unit starts within 3 seconds of initiating the start sequence.

The only other issue with this unit is the obvious design flaw of placing the 50 Amp receptacle directly over the wheel which severely impedes the use of the receptacle with pretty much any 50 Amp cable.

Westinghouse makes giant generators that power our cities! if anybody knows how to build a portable generator its westinghouse! what took you so long with your brand name recognition? it works great love the 9500 watt continuous with remote start for weekly test run from the comfort of staying inside my home.

I can run a 4 ton central ac in cool mode. 2 refrigerators and all led lights TV of course. if running central AC , Turn off the electric water heater and dont use electric stove and this works well, and the power from the generator itself is clean enough to operate the honeywell digital thermostat, even at 25% THD.

the Champion 6200 watt bought 1 month earlier cant operate the thermostat due to a highter Thd or electricity which is less clean. It has a 3 yr warranty !!! cast iron piston sleeve, basically thats what the commercial series portable engines use.

so hopefully the generator itself will last as long as the engine if its not overloaded. also turn on your breakers sequentially by highest priority in summerheat like this 1 lights 2 AC if ac kicks immediately dont turn on next breaker until the generator rpm levels out which takes about 4 seconds 3 refrigerators dont use electric stove until ac turns off, overcool home 1 hour before shower time , then turn off ac and flip on breaker for water heater which takes 4500 watts 1/2 the total watts of this 9500 watt generator, wait 30 minutes is all it takes to heat up the water tank and its shower time.

same for cooking , cook on portable gas stoves or cook in bettween ac cycles only just turn off ac for quick cooking meals , grits eggs this is how we managed during hurricane IDA 2021. if you overload the generator ck by ampdraw or look at the hertz mode on the gen display , it shouldnt go below 60 hz.

as the rpm slows down the hertz reduces as an indication its overloaded you can ck the hertz by pushing the very small button on gen display the more load put on generator the slower the rpm and the less and less hertz reading.

as hertz is set on 3600 rpm which is why all generators need to run at this rpm. the easiest thing to do is to overload this and the generator its self will overheat shortening lifespan, which is why so many generators for sale as used have motors still run but generates no electricity, gen is burned up.

this is my experience living on generators during hurricane outages since 2012 hurricane gustav 1 gen was accidentally abused , just cuz it can run more items doesnt mean that its ok. hope this helps the newer Gen users just getting into it since hurricane ida as i sas a lot of 1st timers.

so easy to spot with those small gas cans. you need about 8 large 5 gall cans since we also have gas shortages while having to use genrators , and gas rationing 4 cans per customer, the irony.

I received this unit today and was excited to start it up for break in and testing. Initially the unit would not start on the gas option after two hours of trying. As I continued to troubleshoot and eliminate root causes, I switched over to propane and it fired right up.

Thus, I had a gas issue but that’s all that I knew. I went through all of the troubleshooting suggestions but nothing worked. Finally I decided to remove the small solenoid on the bottom if the carburetor and found my issue.

It poured gas as I was removing it and upon full removal I noticed the small needle valve was slightly stuck. After a few gentle pushes with my finger, I then remounted it and it fired up as expected.

I then ran it for about 30 minutes to clear out any gunk in the fuel system. I suspect it was factory fired but not with quality fuel which left some gummy residiue, and caused the small needle valve to stick.

The corrective action is not for the general consumer with limited mechanical skills, nor should they be required. Factory testing should also include fuel or cleaning options that would allow the purchasing consumer the ability to start with minimum effort and instructions just like with the propane option.

Looks like a fantastic unit and trust that it will serve my purpose when needed so overall I gave it a 4 rating for now. Without the gas starting issues, I would have rated it a 5 based on apperance and overall construction.

It is a bit heavy which makes it difficult to transport on uneven surfaces (e. g. gravel, dirt, etc. ).

I bought this generator at the end of August 2021 so I would be prepared in case we had another Snow-mageddon here in Texas. I followed the instructions for assembly and starting but the generator would not keep running for much more than a minute.

I then got Covid and was delayed until the end of September before I could try to see what was wrong. I contacted customer service and was sent parts. I was able to install one of the parts but had to take the generator in for repair because my many back surgeries made it impossible to bend enough to install the part.

I had to rent a trailer twice to get the generator to and from service but finally things were working as expected. I have switched to no-ethanol gas and that has been working much more reliably than regular gas with fuel stabilizer.

This unit runs louder than I expected at 92 dB close by. So far my neighbors have not complained. I got this particular model so I could use gasoline or propane. The remote start is a nice accessory.

I haven’t tried to start this with the pull cord so I don’t know how easy that would be. I tried to connect my furnace to the 15 amp outlets but, apparently, my furnace pulls 15. 1 amps so that always tripped the circuit breaker.

At least I know that this has good self-protection from overloads. I solved this issue by getting a splitter for the 30 amp outlet since I am not using this for a whole house generator. Customer service tried, but a seventy year old with a bad back isn’t able to lug around a two hundred pound generator for service like I could many years ago so I hope the factory testing catches more issues before shipping now.

Bought this new 7500 DFc from Home Depot to be used as a backup generator for hurricanes in our area. Assembled the generator as described, fully charged the battery, put in 5 gallons of fresh gas and followed instructions to start the generator.

Generator turns over but refused to start. Double checked off/on switch, fuel off/on switch choke, still no go. Ran the battery dead on starting. Recharged the battery overnight and tried hooking the generator up to propane.

This time it started but will not restart on propane if shut down. Waited another day and the generator started up again on propane. While running on propane tried switching to gas mode, but the generator immediately died and would not restart on propane.

I had a Westinghouse 5500 generator before and it was super reliable. I’ve called Westinghouse customer service twice with no resolution. I hope they will honor their 3 year warranty. I will update this post accordingly.

My purchase of the Westinghouse igen 4500DFc on July 4, 2022 was a good decision. Something, aside from the fact Westinghouse invented and perfected ac electricity generation, felt right when i viewed this model.

The brand adds authenticity to this timeless masterpiece of consumer level portable generators. The panel with the green lights and the “data center” had me intrigued. Could it possibly function as advertised? Yes, it does.

All the features i studied, zoomed in at, compared, were seemingly pie-in-the-sky offerings until i got the generator and see that they do all function excellently. I won’t ALL CAPS or bold my customer review words to add emphasis but believe me this igen 4500dfc rocks! My first- out of the box- run lasted over 24 hours in “eco-mode” with a varying load @.

5 – 1 Kw. The unboxing itself was a nice experience with only a single issue of an underside mount nut which appears to have turned loose and wss at the bottom of the Styrofoam packaging. A good twist to all 4 -1/2″ SAE mount nuts and it was good to go.

Set up went smoothly. The sound is very quiet. The exhaust surprisingly hot. But low to the ground. And the igen 4500 has a CO2 sensor and shut-off capability which is another benefit to a fully loaded package.

I mean i cannot think of another feature i could want. Except for maybe temperature or some fancy of my obsessive compulsion need to have information and instrumentation to measure critical data. This genny does most of it already.

It tells run time left to no fuel, and accurately adjusts for load variation. It displays Kw output power. It has 2 fuel level indicators and i still cant fogure out how Westinghouse engineers designed the fuel level sensor or float.

There is no indication in the “exploded views” in the accompanying user manual. The User Manual is even impressive. It exudes a level of concern for the users in terms of explaining every detail, every procedure (even for preparing the enclosed key fob to ‘pair’ with your igen).

The manual is thick and contains a seemingly comprehensive parts list with their schematic and mechanical drawings. Step by step set up guides you to start up. You will need to be slightly dexterous with at least basic level of mechanical skill to get the oil in and to hook up and correctly install the battery for electric start.

I hope i got mine right, its tricky and could use a redesign. On my setup battery install and oil fill took about equal time, too much time in my opinion at roughly 10-15 mins each task. And i made the mistake of overfilling the oil strait out due to the accompanying screw in funnel that you get which is good but.

you’ll see for yourself. Oil cleanup inside the generators frame can be tricky too so clean up for my tiny overflow took 2 sheets of paper towel and my cell phone on flashlight to see inside the “oil door” to wipe around all the extrusions and surfaces in there below and around the oil dipstick area.

The oil door looks good with a layer of soundproofing material, foam egg carton, attached by adhesive. Lets see if this has longevity but now, i am nitpicking really. The oil door could be a bit larger for my liking, it is a lot of work to do in there for larger sized hands to be asked of, a lot of twisting and turning followed by wiping up in all over.

I sensed to use care and caution so that i would not wind up getting rubs from the hatch edges of the oil door as the edge is plastic and formed to fit an edge rather than say a rolled extrusion softened for the more tender folk suck as myself.

Otherwise be prepared to spend 30-40 mins setting up. Put of the box look is great with an accompanying smaller cardboard box containing a jug of oil (. 6L), a battery tender charger plug and wire, a tool kit, a funnel, and maybe the user manual were in there too.

The key fob comes hooked onto the manual pull start cord and the fob feels good in my hand made of a durable metal with a tiny carbuncle clip. On and off are the only two buttons on the fob. So in conclusion i say its probably the best generator out there today.

I say i am impressed and i hope to remain impressed. They really have (whoever “they’ are) convinced me that they care about producing a very good quality product and that with all their engineering they sincerely with for us to enjoy long lasting lifespan and happy healthy electrical generation for years to come.

We purchased this unit to power our RV/Ice Fishing House combo with a 30 amp outlet. I was really excited to find a unit that ran on both gas / propane AND had a remote start for the cold mornings out on the ice! So far, I’ve put about 5 hours on the unit during the break-in procedure (so note — there is a break in process — read the directions!).

Unit starts easily with electric starter, chain pull, or via remote and powers my RV/Ice House without issue (AC, microwave, TV, etc at same time). Switching from gas to propane is simple and can be done without shutting the unit down (if you already have propane connected).

I didn’t notice any change in performance switching across fuels. I’ve never owned a generator before, but the noise isn’t overbearing and is barely audible when inside the RV. I docked 1 star for two annoyances.

First, I only put in about a gallon of gas at a time as I wanted to run out the gas during break-in. Even though the unit comes with a digital fel gauge, it seemed to have a hard time registering that small – but sufficient – amount of full and showed me on “E” with no time remaining yet the unit kept running and running and running.

Will see if issue persists if I actually fill it full. Second, changing the oil is a bit of a pain. First off, the unit comes empty but does include a bottle of basic SAE 30. I utilized the included oil for break-in and with a plan to switch over to synthetic 5w-30 for better cold temp performance (which is fine/recommended per the manual).

The directions state that the entire bottle of the included oil should be used on the initial fill, but I found that I slightly overfilled the well trying to use up the whole bottle. There is a small plastic plug in the bottom of the unit you can use to drain back out some of the oil, but this is really just for spills and overflow and is still hard to access, leaving oil over some of the interior.

After running for the 5 hours, I switched the oil — and this is the real annoyance — there is no separate oil drain. You have to try to hold the included funnel OVER the oil well and then tip it back out.

Even being careful, it’s awkward to hold the funnel over the top while balancing a 100 lb generator on it’s sides — despite my best efforts, more oil managed to spill, again leaving more oil in the interior compartment.

There are numerous “nooks and crannies” in there, so it’s virtually impossible to wipe up all the oil. So through the first 5 hours, performance seems great and exactly what I wanted and dual fuel flexibility is great as I’d rather carry an extra propane tank than have have gas tank slushing around.

Only complaint is oil changing process. Would buy again!.

Review of Westinghouse 3,700/4,500-Watt Dual-Fuel Inverter Generator (CARB Compliant) Given the number of generator/inverters options in the marketplace, what factors were important in my selecting the Westinghouse 3,700/4,500-Watt Dual-Fuel Inverter Generator? Obviously, capacity had to be in the sweet spot for my intended use.

3700 running watts, 4500 starting watts will handle the critical appliances for the event I have a power failure at my home. And with the apparent increasing risk of power grid failure, this may be a small investment for a measure of security.

I wanted and got a control panel that is quite inclusive, not just a place for a wide range of receptacles. I wanted a LED data screen showing the essential factors: fuel level, remaining run time and power output.

It may seem minor, but very few generator options have a remote start key fob. That was a deal breaker for a guy who makes full use of the tv remote. It’s just a great convenience to add to the electric start on the generator.

I doubt I will use the propane option but if gas stations are closed in an electrical failure it is nice to know I can remove the LP tank from my bbq to power on. Another important consideration is the eco mode which automatically adjusts engine RPM/fuel consumption to what is necessary to provide no more than the load requires.

I wanted and got safeguards like a low oil indicator and an overload protector. But as I read through the User’s Manual, more and more features were revealed. The User Manual itself is worthy of accolades.

I rarely receive a user’s manual so well written, clear, comprehensive. Additionally, perhaps for the less patient, Westinghouse provides a one page Quick Start Guide. But reading the whole Manual is a worthwhile experience.

What other small engine company includes a drain hose on its float bowl to completely remove gasoline? Not only does the generator charge the battery while the engine is running, should you have a more sustained period of non use, Westinghouse provides a small plug-in battery charging cable.

Not intended as a trickle charger, rather the company suggests plugging it in over night, sufficient to charge the battery without overcharging it. Westinghouse provides a small bag of essential tools like a spark plug wrench.

They include a funnel for adding oil. The gasoline tank includes a filter. It just goes on. As time passes, I think I’m going to be very glad I purchased the Westinghouse Inverter Generator.

It took a really long time for this generator to get delivered. Due to holiday peak loads and bad weather (I live in Texas where we dealt with the polar vortex ice storm) there were a lot of delays. I was willing to wait because the price was really good for a generator of this size and wattage.

It just arrived yesterday March 31, 2021. I have another generator, but it is only a 6500W machine and isn’t able to fully power my house, so I upgraded. I also upgraded for the following reasons: This generator: -Goes to 50a -Is 12,000W -Was priced under $900.

And under $1000 is really worth it -Has 50a and 30a outlets -Has an electric start and battery -Has duel fuel, and my house does use propane -Comes with the wheel kit included I am super swamped with work, so I didn’t have time to put oil in it and start it yet, but it looks great.

It is slightly smaller than my previous, less-powered, generator that I will be selling soon (like new). What they don’t tell you is that you are getting the updated and newer version of this generator than the one that is depicted in the add.

In the add, you can see the 50a outlet is on the far right, above the wheel. That makes it difficult to plug in a thick and rigid 50a cord because the wheel is in the way. The 50a outlet has been swapped with the 120/240 regular house outlets in the middle so it is easier to plug in.

I wasn’t sure about the double handles for moving it because my current generator has a single handle, but believe it or not, it makes the weight much lighter. It could be the better wheels as well. It’s just lighter.

I’m really looking forward to powering it up. I will update my review after starting it up.

I moved into my new home this year in Texas not long after the freeze that affected the whole country. I live in a remote location where my nearest neighbor is over a mile down the road. We the only family who lives on this road.

This is significant because we are the lowest priority in an outage. During the freeze my power was cut off for over two weeks. My pipes froze despite my best efforts to insulate them because I had no way to power my 220V water well.

It was after I moved in I found out how unreliable the power was in a weather event (as I have lost it several times since during some thunderstorms). Each time lasted more than two days without power.

Unacceptable. So I did my research and decided to buy a generator to backup my entire home. I carefully calculated my needs and arrived at the conclusion that I needed a generator at least capable of 12000 starting watts.

I wanted something that could run on propane (if needed) in the event of a gas shortage. I was impressed with the price and features of the Pulsar G12KBN and it ultimately beat my other options. Well worth the two weeks wait for it to arrive freight from California.

It had simple instructions to finish assembly and I had it ready to go in no time at all. Rigorously tested it for over an hour on propane underreal world load conditions and it exceeded my expectations.

The largest power draw in my situation is the central ac unit. I was excited to see that it handled my needs with ease. An important note though: propane power output is less than running on gasoline so it is critical to calculate your power needs before making a decision on a generator.

I almost bought a higher output standby generator for thousands of dollars more. So glad I didnt because this cost effective, very versatile generator is mobile and quite capable. It can be set up quickly when needed.

I highly recommend this generator.

Bought for home back up power. Handles our entire 2500 sqft home along with the well. Comes with bonded neutral but jumper is very easy to remove should your application need it. Oil capacity is quite a bit higher than listed in the manual.

The manual looks like an incomplete repurposing of the smaller models manual leaving some details to be desired. Its not quite by any means but it is barely audible, if at all, from inside our home. I received the updated model with the 50amp plug on the left so no connection troubles for me.

I also bought a cover from GenTent and am very happy with its fit. I did four oil changes in the first 25 hours (1,3,10, and 15) of operation and would recommend anyone else do similar due to the amount of metal shavings removed in the first few changes.

Shipping company left some to be desired but for the price the additional aggravation was worth it.

IšverstiShow in original languageThis is the perfect generator for my needs. I will use it as a backup if I lose power to my home. I just purchased it 7/25/22 and it was so easy to set up. The booklet that came with it is excellent in explaining everything about the generator.

I will use propane as my primary fuel and it only took a few minutes to set up. The generator started right up when I pressed the start button. I am amazed at the excellent engineering of this model.

It was well thought out and completely user friendly. Thank you so much for producing a great product.

IšverstiShow in original languageThe ordering process and delivery was seamless; unit arrived on schedule in good shape. Assembly was easy. I had to find an aftermarket adapter that allowed me to connect both a 240 volt panel and a 120/240 volt panel.

Once procured, I was able to complete the installation and test the unit. It handled my loads. I was not able to confirm propane consumption yet – awaiting first long outage. A means to connect a 6′ exhaust pipe to the discharge would be useful to get fumes away from the house.

IšverstiShow in original languageThis unit was purchased as a answer to power outages. We installed a new breaker box with a transfer switch and now have the ability to power the whole house. An outside receptacle to the breaker box makes it easy (in just a few min) to get everything hooked up and running.

4,850 watts is enough to power the fridge, AC, (or furnace) computers and a few lights. So, yes WE ARE PLEASED with the DuroMax brand. Easy start, good quality and so portable as well.

I bought two of these 200961 inverters to use in parallel and I couldn’t ask for better results. On both propane and gas, it starts on one pull in the choke position and then I can usually switch it to its running position while it’s still choking so that it’ll begin running as normal without having to pull the recoil handle anymore.

So that’s great; just one pull altogether to start the inverter from cold. They are also the lightest 2500 inverters I’ve been able to find, but yet they still feel very rugged and durable. The manual is very well written as well and customer service was helpful in sending me the high-altitude jets for free at my request.

I bought the 50-amp Parallel Kit (Model #100319) and it works great with the inverters. I’m going to make my own mount for the Parallel Kit though as only one clamp will fit around the inverter handle.

So far, in parallel, I have used them to run circular saws, sanders, miter saws, and even with a transfer switch into my house. I also bought the Storm Shields (Model #100603) so I can use the inverters in rainy weather; they were tricky first getting them setup, but after the first time it’s easy.

Some other highly recommended accessories are (1) the 25ft 30-amp extension cord (Model #48034)(Note: you need parallel kit for this), (2) Runleader Tach/Hour meter (to keep track of runtime for the maintenance schedule), (3) 10mm Nut Driver (for parallel kit, removing ground nut), (4) STA-BIL Storage Fuel Stabilizer (I’ve been running my inverters with this in the gas so if I end up storing my inverter for a length of time, there won’t be any gumming or fuel separation), and (5) Briggs & Stratton SAE 5W-30 Synthetic Small Engine Motor Oil (you’ll need this or another type of recommended oil after running the inverter for its 5 hour break-in period).

Overall, I am very pleased with this inverters. Along with the accessories, it makes a very solid power supply for a wide-range of applications no matter the weather. #sweepstakes.

IšverstiShow in original languageThe new generator was delivers a few days ago. I was a bit worried about it because the wooden pallet that it was strapped to was crushed. Before I signed for it, I cut off the straps holding it to the pallet so I could inspect the bottom of the box, it seemed OK.

The next day I installed the wheels and handles, connected the battery and added the oil. I put the battery tender on and to my amazement, the battery had a full charge. I hooked up an LP gas tank to the generator and tried to start it several time.

I read the instructions carefully a couple of times but it still wouldn’t start. I played with the choke a bit, going from full right to full left and back to right, it seemed to help by setting the choke in the middle position instead of the full right position as sated in the manual.

Anyway. once the generator stared up I moved the choke to the recommended position and it was up and running. Once I got the hang of starting it, the thing starts right up. It’s about as loud as a lawnmower and stays in place once its stated.

It is quite a well thought out machine and it looks good too. I can this thing to power my entire home if the power goes out, even with the central AC on!.

Starter battery will only last a few years at the most. I use the battery in the generator in the winter and in lawnmower in summer. Starts easily on propane, even in very cold weather. Avoid gasoline if you can.

Noise level is medium high when operated in the open. I use it in an open shed with plywood around the generator to shield the noise from the neighbors. If you use the small propane bottles in very cold weather the bottle need to be located in the vicinity of the cooling air stream (not the exhaust) in order to prevent freezing and maintain propane flow.

ALWAYS GROUND the generator to avoid accidental shock. Can’t beat this generator for the usual sale price.

Because generators are often used infrequently, it is very common for the gasoline to go stale in them. I intend never to put gasoline in mine. LP gas (propane) works fine and in fact it starts uncommonly easy, which I attribute to its LP fuel source.

Because it’s not an inverter generator the quality of the electricity it produces is not good for charging electronics, but it will certainly charge a battery that will then charge your electronics. I instructed my daughter to buy one as a backup for their home, and just send a link to a buddy who is looking for a generator.

LP is less energy dense than gasoline, so it consumes it a bit faster than it would if you were running gasoline, but I’m totally fine with that. I also bought a corrugated stainless steel hose off Amazon ($14) that slipped over the end of the exhaust so I can run it all the way out of my bus.

I run common tools in building outta my Skooley and this is just the right KW size. Wouldn’t cover the surge required to start a 3hp tablesaw, but does fine for my homeowner quality Rigid tablesaw.

Received 4000 watt generator very quickly! Added oil, gasoline turned it on for 5 minutes it appeared to be good. A week later i took it remote camping to power a travel trailer with a 8,000 btu ac unit and some lighting in the Texas heat and it failed.

It wouldn’t provided 120 volt to even power an led light, almost ruined our camping trip. Woke up early next morning drove to the closest home depot and was forced to purchase their only generator left a 4000 watt Ryobi generator and it worked very well day and night for 4 days straight 3.

5 gallon tank would last 12hrs of run time. The generator I really wanted was a champion but I am very pleased with the Ryobi. Now I have to figure out how to return this piece of crap sportsman generator.

If you want to gamble your 299. 00 on this generator it will let you down! I had both generators side by side the Sportsman has a huge sticker with a repair phone number that begs you not to take it back to store while the ryobi has no service phone number sticker on their unit because they expect it to work its like sportsman man knows it will fail!.

I have not even run the generator yet, but I am so impressed with it. I mean this machine looks so well put together and has all the features I need at the lowest weight, and best cost that I could find.

I need a “take along” emergency power source on longer road trips in my awesome little Spark ev. The 240v 30amp’s is what my electric car charger needs, and tho a bit cumbersome, the generator will allow my shorter range, but loved electric car to get to the next fast charger station.

Quick to unbox and just had to add the already measured oil to the crank, I wanted to be able to run on Propane which was as simple as connecting the propane bottle to the gen premade regulator and hose connection.

Started up on the first few cranks of the electric starter. It was very easy to bolt together and the directions we simple and to the point. Would recommend this Gen. to anyone as the price was fair and the shipping was fast.

Assembly was simple. Started right up after I added oil. Read the instructions. A key takeaway for me was the oil weight. The 10-30 included is too thick for my climate so I went with Mobile Full synthetic 5W30 as we drop below 10 regularly.

Using gas occasionally will help lubricate the upper parts of the engine. You really dont want to run propane exclusively over the life of the engine. Running gas can thin the oil so you will want more frequent oil changes when exclusively using gasoline.

So far I am happy! Mom is in her 60’s and she was able to pull start it which was a major bonus!!.

Shipping took over 3 weeks from CA to WI. Unit arrived damaged, plastic blue housing around electrical was cracked in 5 places. Front frame was scraped where something damaged the box in shipping. Even with gasoline this generator overloads and breakers trip at 8000 watts.

Very noisey than rated with gasoline. Even with damage it still runs but I would have expected better load performance. If you need a cheap generator with more power it works ok but in hindsite I should have spent another $500 and bought a higher quality generator.

Received yesterday, assembled the generator. Says it comes with a shiping bar. Didn’t find one. Everything went together without instructions. Added oil, propane & it fired right up. I have yet to power anything with it but im pleased so far.

Cons: LP Gas connection port location could’ve been located higher on the unit. Tools supplied with it couldve had an integrated on board mini tool box. Made in China. Not made in America. Handles could be 4″ longer.

Pros: Easy to assemble. Easy to learn layout. Comes with charged battery. Comes with tools for assembling. Good build quality.

The day of delivery I installed the wheels and handles, added oil, hooked up the propane tank and she fired right up. I then plugged in my welder and did a test run. No issues with it so far. This is for emergency back up to the house and a portable power supply when working out in the field.

It has a little bit of heft to it so you need 2 men to pick it up, but it does roll nice. Very easy to switch between gas and propane. You unplug everything, flip switch and hopefully it keeps running, if not use the starter switch or pull start.

Easy to turn over manually if the battery is dead for some reason. Hint: install a cheap solar trickle charger on it and you will not have to worry about the battery not having juice. There is also a plug assembly for charging 12v batteries that I did not realize until I sat down to read the manual.

Received the generator a few days after ordered it. Took about 15 minutes to put the wheels, loft handle s and supports. Filled it up with the recommended oil, hook up the battery and LP tank. It fire up, shut it down, then gave it one pull it started right up.

Didn’t try gasoline, but am sure it would work the same way. Plan on using LP mostly anyways. Plugged in my compressor no problem at all. Would recommend it for the price, good buy.

I was impressed. It is quieter than I expected. After some assembly I tested it on propane. It started right up and did great through a warmup break in cycle. Tested it under a light load with no issues.

It should do everything I need it to do. I would recommend this generator.

Attractive, easy to assemble wheels and handle, rapid starting after adding oil and gasoline. Haven’t switched to propane yet, but I bet that is even easier and faster operation. I plugged a few tools into the generator and got immediate power and noticeable response of increased rpm’s.

For a medium sized gen I like the large power output. It will power just about anything that I will have a need for. Great buy for the price and the features.

IšverstiShow in original languageThe generator was boxed well. I appreciated (among other things) it comes with No-Flat tires. For the most part assembly went well except the battery was difficult to connect with the provided tools.

The propane regulator that is provided has a QCC Type-1 fitting to connect to the propane tank, I had to purchase a POL to QCC Type-1 adapter to connect to my 100 lb. tanks (for the minimal cost of an adapter I would have thought Duromax could have anticipated the possible need and provided it).

The rubberized dust cap for the Generator’s propane input fitting broke off the very first time I touched it. The User Manual that comes with the Generator is deficient in the full explanation/description of all the functional and operational elements.

The Generator started with the first push of the start button, and it runs very well. I am very happy with my purchase, although my comments may seem minor, they were, to me, what cost them a fifth star.

If I could ask for one additional feature it would be a means to wirelessly monitor the Generator output and load specifics (Volts, Amps, Watts per leg). Finally, let me forewarn you if you want or need to call Customer Service, they do not like to answer their phone or respond to messages left, in a timely manner.

IšverstiShow in original languageOur DuroMax generator (The XP13000HX) now has 8 hours run time on it and so far so good. We have changed the oil as recommended after the first 6-10 hours and now use synthetic for longer times between changes.

(30 hours as opposed to 20 hours with conventional oil. ) It came with very clear directions for set up. The DuroMax has powered our house for one 6 hour outage so far with no problems. The XP13000HX has a 50A receptacle (14-50R) on the generator that supplies current to the house.

It is pretty heavy (about 242 lbs. ) so keep it accessible for emergencies. Keep the battery charged with a trickle charge between uses for dependability. I would also recommend an outdoor cover in case you need to run it while it’s raining.

What we like: 1. ) Oil pressure shutdown switch. 2. ) Electric start or Recoil start. 3. ) Hour meter to keep track of oil change and use. 4. ) Eight gallon tank with gauge on top. 5. ) Idle control.

So-So: 1. ) Button on multimeter is very tiny and makes it tricky to change modes from voltage, hertz or hours run. Wish it was a little bigger. 🙂 All in all we are very impressed with this generator.

Looking forward to many years of not worrying about power outages.

IšverstiShow in original languageThe DuroMax Duel Fuel XP13000HX generator is a powerful unit that runs quiet. Easy to start on propane and easy to start on gasoline. The build quality of this generator is very high.

I consider it the best available. This unit is used to power a whole house when emergency backup is necessary. It also is used to power construction site lighting and electric tools. This unit is portable / heavy duty / dependable.

The digital multimeter displays output voltage, frequency and hours. The fuel usage is 8 1/2 hours plus on full tank of gasoline and about 6 -7 hours on a 40 pound propane tank. ( 50% power output load) This generator weighs 242 lbs, it is portable using the solid wheels and folding handles.

I like the solid wheels : no flat tire on job site. The CO alert carbon monoxide shutdown feature is a great safety feature. This generator has automatic low oil shutdown. The spark arrestor feature makes this generator great for use in dry foresr areas.

Bought the generator to power my camper trailer – my 1800 watt generator wouldn’t power the AC. I have not run gasoline through it because I haul this in my trailer and don’t want the gasoline smell.

I have been quite happy with it for the last 4 months, but if using only propane, there are a few considerations that should be made. First, the way the hoses connect to the generator makes them “stick out” so they have more chances of getting damaged.

I’m going to plumb in a 90 degree fitting and add a quick connect to make it more convenient. Second, it doesn’t like to start well (on propane) when the temperature drops below approx. 40 deg F. I think this is due to the pressure in the propane tank decreasing as the temperature decreases and a spring loaded safety valve that has to be overcome by the vacuum generated when the generator is cranking/running.

This would not be a problem with gasoline. It makes it nearly impractical to start it using the pull rope because you can’t get it to spin over enough times to generate enough vacuum to get the propane to “flow” properly.

I rely on the pull start as a backup in case my battery dies. It would be nice to have a primer/bypass to help get it started. Hoping that I can use starting fluid to get it to fire a few times on a pull start to get it going.

Also considered making custom “jumper cables” to bypass the internal battery in case it goes dead. Note that I expect the weaknesses of the propane option to be common among all dual fuel options but maybe some are less finicky.

Overall I’m quite happy with the generator, just needs a few tweaks to make it more convenient for my application.

I just received this generator for my birthday! I plan to use it for my camper! So far am very pleased with the performance and quality! It should power everything I need it to power and more. Its dual fuel so a can run on extra gas I’ve got for my truck or the propane I use for my camper.

They provide everything you need to get this thing up and running for both gas and propane except for the fuel! The remote start fob is already pared so that makes life a little easier! I cant speak on the long term reliability yet, I’m not even though my 5 hour brake in yet but I’m excited to put this thing to some real use! But so far this generator has been super simple to get started, just add the provided oil with the provided funnel and some fuel and shes ready to go (into break-in period).

It is defiantly quitter than I expected especially when its on eco mode! The included battery charger for the onboard battery that plugs right into the face of the generator is a very welcome addition as well, that one less thing you have to buy and one less process you have to go though to keep this thing up and running.

And its worth noting that I have had zero choke issues! I think this is the latest and greatest model because both my USB ports are 2. 1 amp. I think some of the older ones had a 1. something and a 2.

1amp USB port instead of both being 2. 1, the included oil funnel is a different than most sights have photos of, and the manual is a little different than the one you can download online (Home Depot).

So maybe they worked the choke out! Only complaint so far is the oil drain hole on the bottom of the generator is a little small and it’s kinda hard to not make a mess. A drain tube that you could lead out of the hole would be a nice addition.

But if that continues to be my only complaint I am 100% satisfied!.
