20 Best Dryer Balls For Pet Hair (2023 Updated)

I previously had a set of Norwex woll dryer balls. I loved the results and sustainability. When it was ti. e to replace them (several years of weekly use), I was surprised by the cost. I did a little web research and found Smart Sheep.

I was slightly reserved initially, but these babies won me over! Women owned, giving work to women in Nepal AND about half the price Norwex! Happy customer!.

I’ve been reading about these wood dryer balls for a long time and remained skeptical. But after reading about all the awful stuff in liquid softeners and dryer sheets, I decided to take the plunge. I am not disappointed.

The tough “customers,” towels, come out soft but it’s not that deep softness you get when using liquid softener. However, it’s close enough and good enough for me. I tossed the 6 balls into the dryer and there they remain, dryer load after dryer load, no matter the size or type of laundry.

They are larger than tennis ball size. They will get caught up in sheets and other large laundered items, but they are easy to find and tossed back into the dryer. Glad I got these and happy with the results.

An easy, quiet, natural way to soften and fluff your clothes. Im helping save the environment and patting myself on the back, I feel good about it! Not using anymore of those little sheets that coat both my dryer and my clothes.

I think they are wonderful and help the environment. I have used dryer balls before. Since these are extra-large (compared to tennis balls that I have used), and others are manufactured with questionable material.

It is easy to see that Friendsheep lets one know exactly how and what the product is made of. Superior wool, no animals harmed, Etc. I think, but have no scientific way of proving how environmentally helpful they are, e.

g. drying clothes more efficiently, quickly therefore saving electricity, money. One would have to wash and dry the exact same laundry, then dry it with the balls. Then wash a comparative load and dry it w Frieithndsheep dryer wool balls.

Then compare the amount of time it took to dry and how the clothes came out. Has this been done? Just my experience with them is that I do think that they do as claimed, related to composition, size etc.

I purchased a commercial set of 3 white balls several years ago and they work just fine still. However, they don’t compare to my little ladybugs for being fun to watch and much easier to find when they escape (they can be experts at hiding in sleeves and fitted sheet corners).

They also make great gifts in just twos and threes. I shared my set with my daughter and bought another bag for a friend and her daughter. Best of all, I have a 10-year-old dryer and much of its life and dependability is due to my using only dryer balls to soften my laundry.

They work! That’s a savings for me in product purchases and for Planet Earth in packaging pollution.

I purchased dryer balls, cat toys, and Christmas ornaments. I bought almost one of everything to give as Christmas gifts to friends and family, but I am finding it difficult to part with any of it. These products really give me joy.

I will share the love because that’s how I was introduced to the products. A friend gave me a gift of some Friendsheep cat toy bumblebees. They are so adorable I hung them in my bedroom and have never let the cat play with them.

I really like these Woolite-2 Pack Dryer Balls. I tried them with a large load in the dryer and wasn’t sure if I noticed a difference. But, when I used them with the old towels we use for wiping the cars, wow, what a difference those balls made.

The towels were soft and not crunchy like they usually are when I wash and dry them. I only used the balls and I was impressed. With smaller loads I can feel the difference in the material, softer without having to use a dryer sheet.

I noticed there was no static cling to the clothes and towels also. I think these will be put in the dryer on a regular basis for now on. No more need for dryer sheets. Definitely worth having.

After finding out how toxic dryer sheets are, I was heartbroken. There’s nothing I love more than a load of clean, fresh laundry out of the dryer, and I’ve always loved the smell that dryer sheets leave on our laundry.

So it was with a fair amount of trepidation that I decided to give these wool dryer balls a try. I thought they were cute and knew they’d save us money, but I was skeptical. I worried that our laundry would come out stiff and full of static cling.

But what a pleasant surprise to see that everything came out feeling just as soft as before! And so far, no static cling! (I’m still using regular laundry soap, so my clothes still smell great. I really was skeptical. I always disliked dryer sheets. I found a product that was a powder to sprinkle in the dryer without sheets. My son tried to fluff up a down coat in the dryer with tennis balls- still need to use fabric softener- did not reduce dry time.

It served its purpose. Then I saw the dryer balls – and the fact that they can be used without dryer sheets, reduce dry time, and I can add my own essential oil scent. So I decided to give them a try.

I read reviews about other balls leaving “odors” on clothes. I first dried a load of towels – usually I have to run through dryer twice to get them dry. ONE CYCLE was all it took with balls. Same with my next 2 loads.

So they do reduce dry time. The towels came out soft – so no need for fabric softener. Again, performs as claimed. I then washed a load of jeans- nice and soft (not stiff). The jeans also were not as wrinkled.

And no foreign odor. So the next load was my delicates! Love it! No extra dry cycles, fluffy clothes. Next I will try the essential oils. Performs as claimed – am telling my family and friends about them.

With the disclaimer it’s the Friendsheep brand I had success with; if they choose a different brand the results may not be the same.

Since purchasing Nellie’s Dryerballs, we’ve noticed the drying time reduced for our energy-efficient dryer. In the past, some items would still be slightly damp, however, these dryer balls have helped with even heat distribution and even fluffing up the fabric.

Especially helpful for bulkier loads like sheets and towels. My only complaint would be they smell “rubbery” upon opening, but this scent went away after 1-2 loads.

These dryer balls are efficient and very easy to use. I bought them for my dryer at my Lakehouse. Work great and easy to find in a large pile of towels! No static and I love that there’s no fragrance!

I had an old set of these dryer balls and they were quite a mess. So refreshed things with these wool dryer balls and I love them. My clothes dry quicker and there is less static. I do not use fabric softener and really with these four little balls I don’t need anything else for my clothes.

The dryer balls work great and have reduces my dryer time a lot! They also make the laundry smell amazing when you soak them in essential oils. I have 11 in my dryer now!

In a bid to make our householder “cleaner” I was keen to ditch the toxic dryer sheets and try some dryer balls, these are great and wish I had bought them sooner. They definitely shorten the drying time required and after adding a couple of drops of my favourite essential oil the laundry smells great and the clean scent lasts longer than normal dryer sheets too.

I was skeptical about these. They cost a lot and I don’t know anyone that uses them so I had no idea whether they’d work or not. But, I gave them a shot. I’ve used them for easily 10+ washes by now. They help the clothes to dry faster, noticeably reduce static, and keep my clothes from having that stiff, scratchy feel they have if I dry them without anything added to the dryer besides the clothes.

I’ve used them with blankets, towels, and normal (cotton and poly-blend) clothes. I’ve used them on high and medium heat. One or two got slightly less round when I used them with some very heavy items.

But, I just mushed them in my hands and they were fine again. I’ve accidentally left tissues in a pocket and the tissue got on the dryer balls a bit, but they were really easy to clean off. They’re just a bit more fuzzy than when I first got them, otherwise, they seem not to wear much from using them.

The plastic window of the tin keeps (very annoyingly) popping out when I put the dryer balls back in it. I wish they would’ve made the tin better considering how often it’s used. A bit of super glue might fix it.

The tin is adorable I love the fact that the window in it is concave, like the door in a front-loading washer. Cute as it is, that isn’t why I wanted it. When I am not using the dryer balls, I have to store them in something, so this is a good storage container.

While these dryer balls were great for removing wrinkles, they do zero for static electricity. I live in the southern United States where it’s humid a lot throughout the year, and they still don’t do anything for static electricity.

I pull the blankets out of the dryer and the blanketscrackle and spark. They’re pretty much useless in general. And if you have a dog that likes to chew on toys, don’t lose one when you pull your stuff out of the dryer.

I discovered Woolzies Wool Dryer Balls looking for a product that allowed us to stop using dryer sheets, but still helped with wrinkles. I was tired of the coating dryer sheets put all over the clothing, as well as on the inside of the dryer.

The strong scent was another downside for dryer sheets. These Woolzies have been great. In fact, they’re so good – this is my second set. The first set we used until they completely fell apart – which took years of doing laundry many times a week.

Replacing them was a no brainer. They fluff the whole load of laundry and it dries so much faster. If I want a light, extra scent, I spritz them with essential oils – but usually we just go for plain-old fresh and clean.

Great dryer balls. Fair price and they last many months. While dryer balls seem like a large investment, when you break down dollars to donuts they are cheaper than dryer sheets and much better for the environment.

I use these beyond the suggested uses: to help shirts dry quicker and with less wrinkles. They are in use right now for a mixed load that has socks, a couple of shirts and even a pair of pants. A quicker finish is a great reason for using these balls but the shirts are more wrinkle free and yesterday’s sheets dried more quickly with fewer tangles.

The only Murphy-like problem, akin to Murphy’s fourth Law: a dryer ball landing on the garage floor will instantly roll to the dirtiest corner available. Fortunately they vacuum clean very nicely.

I absolutely love my wool dryer balls. They help to reduce dry time and are also beneficial for fluffing up certain clothing pieces in the dryer (such as puffer coats). Sometimes I will put a drop of essential oils on them to help spread a little scent onto the clothing.

I tried these out and honestly I’m having a bit of trouble with them because they leave more lint on my clothes than they should. I did like how putting a little orange essential oil on them to make my clothes smell good.

They do keep my clothes soft and it reduces waste so I suppose there’s a trade off.

Gave it a fair shot before providing a rating. After several loads of clothing this seems to me to be another scam job. They simply do nothing but bounce around. No energy savings by reducing dryer time, no increased softness in the clothing.

I never expected a miracle or some impossible to obtain dryer time reduction but I did expect top see something. I often wonder who exactly provide these high ratings and what is the basis of their opinions.

Phooey! Just spent 30 minutes with a sticky roller on my sons’ pants, hoodie and even navy blue sheets. ANYTHING with some polyester in it comes out of the dryer totally covered with fine white hair-like threads from the wool.

I’m all for the ecological uses but they still have to perform! I have heard good things about dryer balls, so I’m not sure if these are just lousy quality or they only work on 100% cotton.

I love these price-accessible dryer balls from PF! They definitely work similarly to dryer sheets by cutting down drying time and helping with wrinkles. However, they haven’t helped very much with removing static from polyester blend clothing; luckily though, this doesn’t seem to be as much of an issue with my cotton clothes.

I will likely continue to use dryer sheets (only for the sake of reducing static), but these are definitely helping me reduce the amount I previously used. Overall, I’m glad to be making progress on my journey to following more sustainable practices and recommend this product to those trying to do the same :).

I had been excited to buy wool balls ever since I learned they could easily replace dryer sheets. I love an option that could save money in the long run and is much better for the earth. I hate having static in my clothes.

so I was a bit disappointed when I would have loads with static in them. I even dumped the whole box of wool balls into the load and had static in my clothes Since I still have some dryer sheets, I’m still going to put them in the loads until they run out but I would like to find out another way to keep my clothes from having so much static in them.

Not giving up on these though!.

I always wanted to try wool drier balls. Drier sheets make me very ill, so I could never use them, but these I can! I add a few drops of lavender essential oil onto the wool before tossing them into the drier.

I have used these probably a dozen times now, they are holding up really well, my drier does take less time and I am very satisfied with the package free brand of these drier balls. Thank you! Will purchase again when these wear out.

I use wool dryer balls all the time and recommend them. These are cute and I bought them for gifts. Since I haven’t actually used these I’m trusting they are a quality product. A couple of minor down-sides are that they are described as imported, but not from where, and, there are no “how to use and how to care for” instructions.

Since these will be gifts for friends who don’t know about dryer balls, instructions would have been a nice addition.

I mean, seriously, who doesn’t love sheep dryer balls? These will be a gift for someone, so I don’t know yet how well they work, but I imagine they’ll do the job just fine. Based on their appearance alone, I’m very pleased with this purchase!.

Well , I use this ballz for wash and dry. Make sure it’s got a tiny hole so water can get it so it sinks in water. Toss them with detergent over the dirty clothes. After the wash pick them up and squeeze water out of the ball then throw them into dryer.

Honestly I don’t remember when I bought these balls. I remember buying them because I bought them off of a clearance shelf because the box was damaged. I remember putting the crushed box on my dryer.

Then I remember seeing my dog walking around with one her mouth. Since the box was damaged the wobbling of the washer next to the dryer must have moved just enough for the ball to work its way out of the box.

Then I remember picking up the ball and hiding it from my dog. I think it was sever months before I actually tried one of the balls in my dryer. The box I bought had two of them. The use of these SourcingMap Fabric Softener Dryer Balls could not be easier.

You just simply toss them in to the dryer with your clothes. The balls bounce around and soften the clothes. The balls are light in weight and are all spiked. For my husband’s work pants and work shirts they did a pretty decent job with keeping the wrinkles out.

However with the black clothes made out of cotton they didn’t do much for helping to get the dog hair off. I also enjoy a nice scent on clean clothes and there was pretty much no scent on the clothes at all after using these balls.

I think these might work well for someone with sensitive skin who can’t handle a lot of irritants that fabric softener liquid or sheets might leave. They worked mostly fine, but since they are too tempting to my dog, and since I can buy a box of fabric softener sheets for a buck, I doubt I will be buying these again.

Performance They worked OK as far as getting wrinkles out, but dog hair was not budged at all. Scent Pretty much not scent on clothes at all.

Hello. This product does not have useful properties. It does not help to better wash ordinary things. For downy products, this may be a good product, but keeping them at home exclusively for downy things is not right.

Unfortunately, there is no practical benefit from them. Yes, when washing ordinary things, balls wear out a lot of fabric.

These dryer balls are wool–a natural product–are a bit larger and really help in drying clothes more quickly. Wonderful for drying sheets and large tablecloths as they don’t get tangles. I always use 9 dryer balls and am very happy with the results.

They last a very long time.

Great experience with these. Unlike the other reviewer, our balls are tightly felted after several loads – they do tend to pick up stray threads and lint from the clothes though, that is easy to pick off.

The loads definitely dried faster and are less wrinkly if we take them out of the dryer once the load is finished. The wool seems softer than other ones I have tried and they were quieter in the dryer.

I also liked that there is a mix of grey and white wool balls in the box. The fact they are actually made in Canada is nice too!.

My daughters had originally purchased these as a gift and I wanted another package to have at home and at the Beach. I have a scent allergy and these viritually have no smell to them, which makes them a huge hit in my opinion! And the clothes seem to dry faster.

Just crazy awful off-gassing that has permeated my dryer and all my clothes and sheets that tumbled with these over-sized and inferior dryer balls. I tried washing two of them to use–the white and the light grey.

That did not help either. I never used the other two: they are much too dark to trust in my dryer with my clothes. And I like to leave them in the dryer to use again and again. Such an awful product, and I am so sorry I wasted my money.

Even though they are now almost a decade old, after one load, the stink from the Dropps Dryer Balls is somewhat gone.

I do enjoy the smell and result (no static, softening) of dryer sheets, but I switched to Dropps’ detergent pods and dryer balls in an attempt to reduce my plastic use. Honestly, I don’t know if the dryer balls do much.

My laundry comes out very staticky, and as other reviewers have noted, the balls tend to get caught up in your clothes (and you have to dig them out). The latter isn’t a big deal, but along with the static cling, it doesn’t soften my clothes as well as a dryer sheet.

And I love the fresh laundry smell (chemical or not), so I wish there was a light scent that came out of the dryer with my clothes. I’ll probably still use these because I bought them and they’re not detrimental… I just wish they worked better.

Maybe that’s unrealistic though.

It is important to my husband and I that we make as many household changes as possible to better serve our environment. After discovering that our beloved dryer sheets were HORRIBLE for the environment we quickly searched for a safer alternative.

These wool dryer balls leave our clothing feeling fresh. Additionally, we have a cat that leaves our clothing riddled with fur. We’ve noticed that after using this product, our clothing is relatively free of fur when we take it out of the dryer.

The fur that is left is clumped together so it’s much easier to remove!!.

I rarely use the dryer. I launder my clothes in the washing machine, but lay them out under the sun or on the line to conserve energy. The only time I use the dryer (with wool dryer balls) is to dry my bed linens.

PROs: My recently purchased COYUCHI wool dryer balls help to significantly shorten dry time. Compared to dryer balls purchased from a different company, COYUCHI’s wool dryer balls are more petite and wool-y.

The other no-name brand wool dryer balls I use are significantly larger but feel more artificially dense (almost like it has a cardboard center). CONs: EXPENSIVE. You only receive 3 balls in 1 set. You need at least 2 sets (6 total balls) to see any difference in dry time.

Also, COYUCHI wool dryer balls pill a lot! I don’t know if this would bother the average customer, but pilling is an eyesore for me. It just looks kind of dirty with little lint balls. Despite all this it does a great job of drying bed linens FAST! I just toss them in the dryer and try not to think about it.

Well, I learned that I should use the essential oil with dry clothes and no heat, as per your instructions. Thanks for that. The product is very well constructed. I wasn’t prepared for how much lint collected in the lint catcher, but then I realized that was only fit the first few dryer loads.

It has leveled off. My niece recommended your brand of dryer balls for whenever I was ready to replace the ones I had. I plan to check out your other products, as well.

I love the softness of my cloths & the faster drying time when I use the wool dryer balls I specifically bought them to dry my feather & down jackets that would not dry the feathers completely & smelled like wet dog.

Not a pleasant smell. The wool dry balls dried out the feathers by breaking the wet clumps apart which worked very well. Jackets smell much better now.

When I decided to stop using commercial dryer sheets, I started using wool balls in my dryer. My linens and clothes come out soft every time. It helps to put your favorite essential oil in the wash if you like a mild scent but not required.

I also like to use 4-6 balls for a large load.

These 3 balls of wool are solid and working the fluff into dryer loads. I do think they are shortening the dryer time. Will see if they deliver on anti cling when I dry tops. Good price, but as always the shipping cost needs to be figured into cost.

So I was a bit skeptical when I bought these, unsure of what exactly they would do. This is a pack of three wool tennis ball sized balls and I now always put all of them in with every dryer load of my Cozy Earth items (sheets, pj’s, rib knit items, etc).

Immediately I noticed that any wrinkles whatsoever were no more! The bouncing around and onto the fabric keeps everything nice and smooth… as if using a dryer sheet (but of course not!) It says that the dryer time would be cut down and that’s true for the sheets, pillow cases and duvet cover but I haven’t noticed any difference with the pj’s or the rib knit items since they are quite heavy when wet.

Overall I really like these and love that it takes no effort to just throw them in the dryer with each load. I think if you have any of the Cozy bedding then you should have these wool dryer balls. I don’t have any of the Cozy towels ‘yet’ but I bet they would really do well with these also.

I have some scented ones and also these. I love dryer balls since I do not use dryer sheets and haven’t for years. I love the neutral color of these and also that they come from one of my favorite companies.

I like to use natural options whenever possible so I was excited to try this. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. It’s true that this dryer ball has a pleasant smell, but it does not transfer to the clothes in any noticeable way.

When you first pull them out of the dryer you smell it, but by the time they are folded and put away, it is gone. That issue would be of no consequence to me if this really worked to prevent static, but it does not.

I have dried 4 loads of different types of items without my usual dryer sheet to test it out. In all four cases, the clothes were so fused together it was difficult to separate them and I shocked myself several times.

The dryer ball gets lodged inside a fitted sheet, or the arm of a shirt, or the leg of a pair of pants, and does absolutely nothing to prevent static cling at that point. I wish I had better news!.
