20 Best Dry Shampoo For Thin Hair (2023 Updated)

This is the dry shampoo I will now forever use. I literally never write reviews for things, but this one deserves credit. I have tried many quality dry shampoos, and I have always absolutely hated using them.

Typically they leave my hair feeling gritty or chalky with little benefit, so I end up skipping it altogether. I ADORE this stuff! I have medium brown to auburn hair, and I was not sure if the light or the dark would best suit me.

I ended up going with the light color and love how it works. My hair stays touchable and soft, but I get EXCELLENT control of oiliness and my hair is restored to looking like I just washed it. It also adds a nice amount of volume at the crown which I appreciate having very long hair.

The thing that ultimately sold me on this product was during a last-minute Zoom interview I had thirty minutes to prepare for. My hair was on day 3, massively oily, and I went to town with this stuff.

The first thing the interviewer commented on was how incredible my hair looked, at which point I became a forever fan.

I strongly dislike dry shampoo in general. I feel like I’ve tried them all from drugstore brand to salon (dove, batiste, kevin Murphy, living proof, amika, lush). Ive wasted SO much money on dry shampoo.

They either feel disgusting in my hair or smell so bad I get a migraine. The only one I could tolerate the smell of was Kevin Murphy, but it made my hair feel gritty. This one is the best I’ve used in terms of how my hair feels.

I used it on my day 3 hair, which was bordering on being greasy, but not super greasy yet. It worked amazingly well and my hair feels super soft at the roots. It does not feel like I have dry shampoo in it, it just feels fresh.

The only thing I don’t enjoy 100% is the smell. It smells like men’s shampoo or bar soap to me, like Irish Spring. If this dry shampoo had a non floral, mild fruity or vanilla type smell, maybe even a light lavender, it would be absolutely incredible.

It did leave a bit of a cast, but some brushing and light blow drying at the roots took the cast away quickly. I will continue to use this product, despite my dislike for the smell because the benefits of it function out way the smell.

All in all it’s a decent product. It does the job and I do appreciate the “purple” effect, as in it gets rid of a bit of brassiness. However, it tends to feel much more buildup-y in my hair, than other dry shampoos.

I have to be careful to not spray too much and spray far away, but then end up needing more for oiliness and it feels kind of stiff. If everything else about it was great I could put up with it but the smell is absolutely overpowering.

It’s a nice smell but I have to leave my bathroom after using it because it’s so excessive. For being a product that is proudly “clean” I was disappointed that it includes so much fragrance. Fragrance is an endocrine disrupter too, so it’s not really as clean as it can be (frankly I’m willing to settle with some fragrance because it’s so hard to avoid but this is SO overpowering- and I love good smells).

It does the job but I probably won’t repurchase.

This is my absolute favorite dry shampoo. I have bought it again and again for the past year and a half and do not plan on stopping any time soon. I have an extremely oily scalp and get seborrheic dermatitis very easily.

However, my hair is also very long and processed so I prefer to go at least 2 full days in between washes to keep the ends from getting crunchy. This is the ONLY dry shampoo that does not irritate my scalp but controls the oils enough for that one extra day in between washes to prevent the dermatitis.

All other dry shampoos I’ve tried make my scalp super itchy, but not this one. The fragrance isn’t terrible but not my favorite. Honestly the product itself is so good I don’t even mind!.

This product was recommended to me by one of the employees at Ulta (kudos to them!) as I was trying to find a dry shampoo that I actually liked. I have tried so many over the course of the past year of trying to find one I actually liked and I came across this one.

This dry shampoo is amazing! It takes away the oil with just one spray and doesn’t leave the gross, white residue that other cheap dry shampoos do. My favorite part about this product is that it leave my hair feeling so soft, but not the soft oily feeling, the actual soft that hair should feel like.

The only thing I am not too happy about is the price, but that won’t stop me from buying it. Don’t waste your time trying out other dry shampoos when you can get all that you’re looking for in this one!.

I got a sample of this and honestly thought “this is dumb and definitely won’t work”. WRONG. What the heckin heck. It actually works. Like really well too. My roots tend to get oily, plus I work out four times a week.

But I sprayed this on the oily parts of my hair, and took a blow dryer to it and I was honestly confused how well it worked. it’s so much better than traditional spray dry shampoo. Spray powders just feel like they sit on top of my hair but this seemed like it actually absorbed some oil, but then the dirt and oil was carried off by little, tiny, invisible cherubs once the liquid from the spray evaporated/is blow dryed away.

Just guessing that’s how it works. Seems like that could be it cuz there is no other possible explanation.

I was not familiar with the Vegamour brand before I had the opportunity to try the GRO Dry Shampoo. My usual dry shampoo is talc based, so a plant based option was intriguing to me. I found that it was virtually weightless in comparison to my usual brand and I didn’t experience the usual build up when I used it for two days consecutively.

My hair is dark blond with lighter blonde highlights and when I go a day or two without washing, I feel like it can look very dull. When I used the GRO Dry Shampoo, I could visibly see my highlights come back to life and it was instantaneous.

Even after I washed and dried my hair, I felt like it was a little shinier and brighter. Whatever is in the GRO concoction definitely agreed with my hair. The one thing that took some getting used to was the scent.

It is unlike any other hair care product I have used and I can’t quite put my finger on what it reminds me of. It’s a little bit citrusy and slightly reminded me of a margarita. It took some getting used to.

It wasn’t unpleasant, just not what I am accustomed to. As far as growth, it is difficult for me to say because my hair grows pretty well on its own. It did seem like I was pulling less stray hairs from my brush and overall, my hair felt healthier.

Influenster sent this to me. I was super happy to be a part of this campaign! Firstly, the packaging! Omg the box had this little message that was super uplifting and the bottle itself is so so cute! Love the colour and love the pump like there’s this angled pressing position, otherwise it won’t come out which I think is super helpful for travelling and childproofing.

The smell of this is heavenly —not too strong but would work amazing as a hair perfume! It is this beautiful mix of citrus and floral. I don’t usually like citrus but it’s not the sharp citrus if you know what I mean.

About the actual thing, my hair was super duper oily when I put it on, like 5 days unwashed hair and it did a pretty good job of giving it a volume and making it look much fresher so it definitely does what it claims.

About the growth of new hair tho, I can’t really judge that by using it for 2 weeks only. Because growing new hair would take time so I’ll come back later to let y’all know if it actually helped grow new hair or not!.

This vegan plant-power dry shampoo is made with 100% natural extracts. Dry shampoo is most effective when applied before the scalp is saturated with oil. Using it proactively vs relatively will work more.

In my view, dry shampoo likes hand sanitizer, it is only a substitute for washing when you don’t have soup available or you couldn’t have a wash. I can’t go more than day without shampoo and conditioner.

That’s why I never use dry shampoo before. I have a dark and very straight fine hair. Honestly, it isn’t bad to take away the oil and volume boost my greasy hair days. It really instantly give a weightless hair looking after I applied it.

Unfortunately, I personally don’t enjoy using it. It made my scalp itchy and leave a white cast on my dark root so bad. I couldn’t wait to wash it out. The other downside is that the fragrance is just too strong for me and it lingers in my bathroom and hair.

I generally can’t stand heavily scent in anything. I actually go outside to spray my hair. I wish they would make one unscent. Less risk of irritation.

DEJA VU all over again. And again. and AGAIN and again. That’s how often I want to use this stuff. Not being big on dry shampoos I wanted to go super luxe if I was going to give it a go. Since I was ordering some hot tools from L’ANGE anyway I figured why not add on some product.

This dry shampoo may very well be the last I ever use ( or at least purchase. ). A sexy, sleek, silver design makes for a stunning decorative piece on the sink. The perfect size to throw into my makeup or overnight bag when traveling, or even my work bag / tote for all day touch ups in the go.

I have lots of trouble with bottles that have this form of sprayer like hairspray, but this guy has yet to give me any trouble. You can tell from the opening in the nozzle that if it does a quick rinse with hot water will open it right up.

The product miraculously diminishes absorbs the oils from the previous days, leaving fresher feeling locks that are sure to highlight the look for the day! I like to use it when straightening my hair to prolong the lifespan of my style! A fabulous formula for between washes for years to come for me! .

Okay so this is a good dry shampoo. The main thing I’ve noticed is that it doesn’t leave your hair hard like almost all other dry shampoos do, which is awesome! But I also noticed that because of that you have to use more for it to actually soak up the oil.

But, that might be okay because since it’s not drying and hard on my hair, I can feel that it’s not damaging it and making it break off like other dry shampoos do even if you use a little bit. It’s clear so you can’t see it and don’t have to blend it in and it doesn’t leave white specs either.

I gave it 4 stars because it’s kind of a small bottle for the price but this website always has sales and 4 stars also because of how long it takes to arrive once you’ve placed your order. Best dry shampoo I’ve ever tried.

Just wish the bottle was bigger since I have to order it online I would run out before my next bottle even came in. I really feel like this product doesn’t damage my hair and that is the most impressive part of this dry shampoo.

Definitely recommend if you want to prevent your hair from breakage due to being extremely dry from other similar products.

I absolutely love this dry shampoo! At first I was a tad skeptical since I have such dark brown hair and I know it comes out a little white when you spray it on but I after just a quick massage of the scalp it disappeared and revived my oily, sad hair SO much! It is on the pricier side but WELL worth it.

My old go to was the batiste brown dry shampoo but I would notice that throughout the day even touching my head would leave an unappealing brown transfer of the dry shampoo onto my fingers. It also felt in some ways that it would weigh down my hair and make it flatter to my head.

But with this Ouai dry shampoo I’ve experienced quite the opposite. I usually don’t write reviews of products but I just had to say how much I loved this dry shampoo for my other oily, super dark haired queens.

100/10 recommend.

I am picky about my dry shampoo, I want it to really soak up oils well. Drybar has been my go to for a long time. I tried this because I love Ouai’s wave spray and it’s a better value than others like it, 2 more ounces for $2 less than Drybar.

This product works fabulously, highly effective, and the dispenser nozzle is good. The only problem is I can’t stand the smell. It’s kind of a sickening jasminey floral smell and I could smell it every time I moved.

To make sure it wasn’t just me I used it on my boyfriend without telling him my opinion and he said the same thing about the fragrance. I’m sad to say it, and I would definitely try it again in the future if they came out with another scent.

I cannot even tell you how much I love this stuff & won’t live without it! I’m a huge Bumble and bumble fan and my entire hair routine these days is 100% BB products, and this is one of those I don’t ever want to have to live without! I’m sure it works great as a dry shampoo for shampooing, but I use it all the time to give my hair some volume and lift and oomph when & where it needs it, especially on second- and third-day hair days.

I’m also a fan of the Pret-a-Powder powder and use that a lot too (especially to floof up/position my bangs), but I use the Invisible Dry Shampoo spray more. My basic routine is the Thickening shampoo and conditioner, BB Prep primer + Don’t Blow It (Fine) 3-4x week at night, then I twist my hair up into a bun on top of my head and secure with cloth bands & a scrunchie, then go about my business or go to sleep.

Then the next day, I take my hair down, fix it/fluff it a bit with my fingers (usually don’t use a brush), then I’m good to go. As a last step I normally put a little Pret-a-Powder on my fingers and work it thru my bangs, and if it needs some more oomph in places I spritz the Invisible Dry Shampoo where it needs it.

If I’m going out, I spritz with a little BB Does It All for a bit of hold, and I’m all set! The Pret-a-Powder Invisible Dry Shampoo is especially helpful just to give my hair a little help when it needs it, since I have the most baby fine, thinnest, flattest hair ever and even when I use my above routine, sometimes it still doesn’t quite do what I want it to.

A little spritz of this dry shampoo here and there takes care of that! It also smells nice with a very light, pleasant scent to it too, and it doesn’t leave you feeling at all like you’ve got gunk in your hair.

I now always make sure I have at least one extra can on hand so I never run out!.

I almost always buy travel or mini sizes of new products just in case I don’t like them. #Ulta was offering a free deluxe Bumble Bumble bonding treatment with the purchase of a $35 dollar BB purchase, so this was my chance to try a couple different products.

My hair type (fine, straight hair) gets weighed down easily and I have yet to find a dry shampoo that didn’t make my hair look clean. Until I tried this product, that is. I’ve found a Holy Grail hair product and I couldn’t be happier! I love that’s it’s a powder instead of an aerosol spray.

I have more control over the amount of product I use and where I put it in my hair. The powder itself is very fine and has a super soft consistency, which I believe contributes to its lightweight effect on my hair.

A little bit goes a long way with the Pret-A-Powder, so this small bottle will last a long time. Not only did this product make my hair LOOK like I just washed and dried it, it FELT like I’d just washed/dried it too! It also added volume without that weird, gunky feeling on my scalp.

It’s been 10 hours and still feels nice and clean and has volume to it! Bumble Bumble’s Pret-A-Powder doesn’t have a strong fragrance to it like other dry shampoos—come to think of it, I don’t recall smelling anything at all when I used it this morning, which I prefer.

I even used it on my daughter’s hair (it’s just like mine, only red) and she likes it too. Her hair color and consistency causes dry shampoo to show, and makes hers look dirtier than before application.

Not with this product!!! Her hair looked fantastic walking into school this morning! I’ll be grabbing the full size bottle and putting this one up for when we travel. I’m SO glad I tried this—I’ll be a lifelong BB Pret-A-Powder user!.

I’ve hated using any brand of dry shampoo because although they may absorb oil, they leave my naturally voluminous hair very flat. I do have bleached damaged ends, so I was worried about trying this.

I originally got the smaller one as part of a bundled gift, so I left it under my sink for several months. One day, I get a call to go into work right as I was coming home from the gym, so I figured I’d try this out since I only have a few minutes to get ready.

I shook it up really good, sprayed a few spritz all over my roots (I used more the recommended since I have a lot of hair), waited 30 seconds, brush it through with a bristles brush, blasted my hair with cold air with my blow dryer for 2 minutes, and I was blown away by the results! My hair was just as straight and sleek like it was BEFORE I put my hair up in a ponytail before hitting the gym.

Every other dry shampoos does not possess the ability to put hair back to how it was before putting it up in a pony tail and getting sweaty, especially if you straightened it the day before. But this stuff does! It doesn’t leave a lot of build up that their other Pret a Powder dry shampoos do, and I can honestly say this is worth every penny.

I no longer have to use a flat iron to my hair 3-5 times a week because this stuff extends my hair dos. Please don’t ever discontinue this product. Even if I don’t blow dry my hair with cold air after applying this product with sweaty hair, it still gives me the same beautiful and sleek results.

I get dandruff easily and this is the only dry shampoo that doesn’t aggravate it. If anything, it actually improved the health of my scalp!.

Personally, even if it was the perfect color and the color only stuck to hair instead of transferring to skin/nails/clothing/white countertops(!!), it would still be a no for me. The scent is not only terrible, but super strong and pervasive.

It lingers, just like the color transfer, both in my bathroom and on me all day, and I hate it. If the overpowering scent wasn’t 80% of what’s in the can (and not disgusting and musky), I would absolutely deal with the transfer for this as not only a dry shampoo, but a quick and easy root touch-up/color corrector for daily use with no damage.

But I can’t walk around smelling that heavy, dark, masculine smell. Biolage has a dry shampoo with a heavenly scent. If they ever make that in a dark color, I’ll never try another brand. I’m seriously considering a lighter hair color so I can use that one without the color distortion of the residue on dark roots.

This brands dry shampoo is my all time favorite. It allows me to only wash my hair once a week. It absorbs ALL my excess oils, even on day 6/7 hair. I started putting it in my hair at night (learned that from tik tok, lol) and in the morning, its like I washed my hair the night before.

I sometimes add a little extra in the morning if I am looking for a bit of added volume and it gives that to me, no problem. I gave 4 stars since I heard they test on animals. If that is not true, I would give them 1,000 stars.

This specific one is perfect for me too since I am not naturally dark haired, it helps tone down my roots when they start to grow out between salon visits. With this though, it does kind of get all over if you’re not careful.

So, spray it before your makeup, rub it in, wash your hands to get the color off, and be careful not to touch your hair too much throughout the day. They also are caught up in a lawsuit about hair loss, but I’ve been using Batiste since high school ( I am currently 25) and I have never noticed thinning or additional hair loss, even when I was pregnant and now postpartum.

My hair gets oily one day after a fresh shampoo. I was washing my hair pretty much every other day. Talk about annoying! Then there’s the added time of drying and styling it! I was turned on to Batiste Beautiful Brunette Dry Shampoo.

I love the concept of not having to deal with white powder look when applying the dry shampoo and trying to blend it in without it looking like you have a head of white hair! The brunette powder does just that, it also tends to cover my gray hair so it is not so noticeable, what an added bonus! My ONLY CON is that I tend to rake my hands through my hair often and I find the brunette powder comes off and gets under my nails and it looks like I have dirty fingernails.

ewww. so I find myself constantly cleaning under my fingernails or trying my best to make a conscious effort not to run my fingers through my hair.

I usually use the most popular dry shampoo as it’s a bit cheaper than Klorane however after using Klorane I’m now a convert. I have the unfortunate combo of a really oily scalp and very fine dark hair so I have to use a dry shampoo otherwise my hair needs washing every single day.

This dry shampoo has really come to my rescue, it works better than the most popular brand, it smells 100% nicer and barely left any residue in my hair unlike the most popular brand that leaves that horrible thick powdery dry shampoo residue.

Definitely willing to spend a little more on this in future for much better results! Also I have medium brown hair and you couldn’t see this at all in my hair, and the roots of my hair actually stayed shiny after application unlike other dry shampoos that dull the root – I’m genuinely so impressed I felt compelled to write this!.

I do have oily hair and find I need to wash it every 2 days. By the second day I can’t have my hair out, I need to tie it up to minimise the look of oil in my hair which also flattens it out. I used this dry shampoo on my hair in day 2.

It was easy to apply, spray on different sections of hair (under layer too!) and wait for a few minutes, then brush out. The product was smooth and easy to brush out and didn’t leave any streaky or blotchy residue in my hair.

I found that after application my hair definitely was less oily and I was able to leave my hair out on the second day as it wasn’t as flat and had more volume. This was great! I normally am never able to leave my hair out on the second day.

However I did find that by the end of the day I still felt like I needed to wash my hair and therefore this product didn’t enable me to extend the days between washes. I was still washing my hair every second day.

However, this product was great for allowing me to have my hair out and with different styles rather than being stuck with tying it up all the time. The product had a nice scent and my hair felt soft and full of volume after application! Happy with it and would definitely recommend!.

My hair is fine and thin, so after one day it generates a lot of oil. With this product my hair looked almost freshly washed and smelled clean too!. This has been the only dry shampoo that does not leave any type of white residue on your hair and it does not weigh your hair down.

It is quite hard to wash out but if you’re looking for a product that gives you two days of clean hair this is good. But we have to remember about one thing. All dry shampoos are not good for everyday use as they are not good for the scalp skin.

We have to use them only from time to time when we have special occasion and we cannot clean our hair normally.

WoW! I was more than skeptical about any dry shampoo but a chick on YouTube reviewed 11 of them and this one won bi see why!! When I sprayed it on I saw white on my brown hair and laughed thinking “yeah right, no white residue…” sprayed it all over my sectioned roots and massaged it in as the instructions stated and HOLY COW it looks like I just washed my hair.

How is something that works this good this affordable? Keep it on the shelves please! This will be super handy during music festivals when you can’t always get a shower when you want AND to train my hair to go longer than 3 days in between washes.

My hair def needed to be washed by today (day 3) so I figured I’d try it and just wash it out if I needed. Turns out I don’t need to wash now! I’ll be interested to see if it can take a second application and if and when it would begin looking like it needed washing from this point forward.

I get this from Target. I usually get the other one; Not Your Mother’s- Beach Babe, dry shampoo because it gives my wavy hair a little more texture. However, the Beach Babe tends to leave more white residue near my roots than the Clean Freak.

Both smell SO GOOD. Beach Babe smells like coconuts and clean freak smells like vanilla. I actually get compliments that I smell good when I use it and both give your hair texture and lift which allows you to style your hair and give it a more lively look.

Only reason why I have 4 stars instead of 5 is because sometime it can make your roots feel gritty and although the texture effect is good, it’s a struggle if you have a lot of fly away hairs from breakage like I do.

I used to use other dry shampoos, until I tried not your mother’s clean freak dry shampoo! It comes in unscented and warm sugar scent. The reason why I switched over to this one is to try it because it has no visible residue.

The other ones that I used used to have a grey or white type of residue. It smells divine and really soaks up all the natural oils in my hair creating a nice full and healthy look. I also love that you don’t always have to shower all the time so when you’re on the go you can just spray your hair style your hair and you’re ready to go.

Just make sure when you’re spraying it make sure you shake the can and hold it about 8 inches away from your roots and spray. And don’t forget to use your fingertips and brush it through and style as normal.
