20 Best Dry Lube For Bicycle Chain (2023 Updated)

This lube is awesome because it leaves very little residue (follow the directions and wipe the chain a minute after applying) so doesn’t build up if you don’t clean your bike every ride. I’ve only had grime buildup in the nooks and crannies of the links after rides in dusty conditions.

As advertised, it’s good for one ride in wet conditions up to a few rides in dry, non-dusty conditions. However, the aerosol dispenser is terrible for lubing chains because it wastes at least half of what comes out and lubes the side of your rim, tire and the ground.

Why sell only wet OR dry chain lube in squeeze bottles, but not this superior lube? Please offer this fantastic lube in a better container (e. g. a 500mL HDPE bottle similar to dish soap) so I’m not wasting my money, lubricating my tires and polluting!.

Since purchasing my first mountain bike a year ago, I’ve quickly come to realize the importance of a high quality chain lube. I’ve used quite a few brands so far and this WD-40 chain lube is my favorite.

I enjoy riding in the winter, but regular snows cause plenty of wet and muddy conditions. This is the first chain lube that I’ve found that works great in both of these conditions. I apply before my ride on a clean chain and get back home with the chain looking great.

It really does seem to repel most (if not all) of the mud and water. I haven’t used this much in dry conditions, so not sure how it would work there, but am beyond pleased with the performance in wet muddy conditions.

Great quality as I’ve come to expect with WD-40.

Most trusted name in the lubricant industry lives up to its name. Ran the bike through puddles, and the lube stayed on through several rides, and kept the bike running smoothly. I like the easy to apply, small bottle size and the lid stays secure so you can put it in your pocket or in your pack, and it’s not going to leak.

Used sparingly along the chain and it was very effective. Could tell an ease-of-pedaling difference. I like to keep my chain somewhat on the dry side, and just apply the WD a little every so often. Doesn’t need much.

I actually plan to try this on my hedge trimmers in my lawncare business. I use regular WD-40, but this may actually work even better. I would strongly recommend it to anyone.

Good and reasonably lasting lubrication and quite clean down to 0 degrees Celcius. Below that it turns stiff and uncompliant, drag increases noticeably. So despite its name not really suited for winter use.

Fully syntetic motor oil then works so much better, no problems at minus 20, albeit also much dirtier. Cleaner alternatives are Banana Slip all weather lube, with or without tungsten. Prefer without for environmental reasons, and its almost as good.

Started using this once my previous winter lube ran out and SS didn’t sell it. Hasn’t disappointed, however, I clean my chain regularly and lube up. Seems to last in the interim with no chain grind. Goes on a treat as I run it over a few links and rotate.

Heard about this winter wax being cleaner than wet lube. Was suspicious at first, but it seems to work. It washes out after wet rides, but the chain is still really clean. I apply some more when I wash down the bike and its good to go again.

Only downside is you have to degrease the chain before you use it, but you only need to do it the first time. After that just reapply when needed.

Goes on nice, but still attracts a more dirt than I would like. I’ll stick with the finish line dry lube for now.

We already know that Finish Line products are the best. This time with lubricant designed for ebikes. Super penetrating and durable approx 100km

Best lube out there, it re-cleans the chain every time you use it and does not build up, it is a thin lube. Yes, you have to lube a bit more frequently, but it is amazingly smooth after you do (has embedded teflon or somesuch stuff).

At least on a road bike dirt, grim & grit don’t seem to stick to it very well. Be sure you lube your chain the day before you plan to ride so the more volatile part of the lube evaporates or you can get some sling off — just overnight and you are fine the next day.

I have used this stuff almost since its first introduction. It was developed by NASCAR engineers. I remember talking to the manufacturer directly several years ago just to question some of their seemingly outrageous and overly optimistic claims.

The rep told me that I “might never have to replace a chain again” if I kept it clean and lubed. I told him that such a claim was a little over the top! Nevertheless, I still like the stuff because it is not greasy and it is easy to clean and it doesn’t take much to be effective.

My only quibble is that because it is so thin and nearly clear, it is very tedious to apply. Just take your time. I appealed to the company to develop a better applicator top, perhaps something like a small brush head versus just a drip but nothing yet.

They recommend you apply it and then let it dry overnight, as the formula actually bonds to the metal surfaces. I try to remember to do that, as it results in less grit accumulating. PROS: Versatile BEST USES: Mountain Bikes, Road Bikes.

I have used various high quality lubes in the past, all the big names, but I keep coming back to ProLink. I like ProLink because it acts as a decent cleaner and a great lubricant. It’s a lower viscosity oil, so you’ll have to apply it a bit more often than the thicker stuff.

I usually apply this stuff about every 150-ish miles. I believe that some people really overcomplicate the process of oiling a chain by using fancy chain cleaning tools, degreasers, extended soaks in oil and/or mineral spirit baths, etc.

I’ll share my personal technique below. I’m not claiming this is the best way to do it, but it’s very easy and I get just as many miles out of my chains as I did back when I overcomplicated this process, if not more.

I’m a full-blown cycler who puts on a good amount of miles annually, so I’ve gone through plenty of chains and have tried various techniques. Below is all I ever do anymore. First, there’s no need to use degreaser unless your chain is rusty.

I’m in the camp that believes degreasers do more harm than good by allowing subtle debris to work its way deeper into the chain. Also, I believe that degreaser can flush deeply penetrated lube out, which can be hard to re-apply.

ProLink does a good enough job cleaning and your chain will still look fairly shiny. 1. – Wipe chain vigorously with a dry rag (just hold the chain with a rag and pedal backwards). 2. – Apply a drop of lube on each roller.

3. – Wipe chain vigorously again. 4. – Re-apply a drop of lube on each roller, try to get it between the roller and the plates for better penetration. 5. – Let it sit for at least 30 minutes, while doing so pedal backwards on occasion to allow the lube to move around inside the chain.

6. – Wipe your chain vigorously again. You don’t want the outside of your chain to be wet with oil, this will only gum up your drive-train by turning your chain into a dirt magnet (also if you don’t wipe it enough then you’ll get those dirty marks on your leg).

That’s it. Keep it simple, the chain is a disposable part and I have noticed no added life by using degreasers and more involved cleaning/lubing techniques. As a side note we own an indoor cycling studio we use ProLube on our indoor cycles too.

Never got to try the product. Ordered and had it shipped to me but the liquid had leaked out and what a mess! Don’t advise having this item shipped. Product needs to be shaken before use and much of the contents had leaked out before it was shaken thus making the remaining product incomplete for use.

Keep the chain clean and lubricated. The lube smell good as well, yes… it doesn’t have the strong smell like others bike lube.

At first it looks like a light lube ,but, each and every time I use it – by it end of the ride the chain is very greasy and black dirty and need to soap clean it. I wouldn’t recommend it. Though it smell nice.

Back to good old “rock n roll” lube.

I tried this chain lube as it is a respected brand and expensive, so it has to be good, right? I throughly cleaned and dried my mtb chain and entire driveline (SRAM 1×12 Eagle) then shook the bottle and applied a drip to every link on the chain.

After the solvent evaporated it looked like there was nothing there! Went for a ride and the gear change was ok but the drive line noise was higher than I have experienced with wet lubes. After only a 5 mile dry ride the noise and change were concerning.

I thought there was a problem with the drive! I applied extra lube which helped for a while but then noise returned. I cleaned the whole driveline and went back to my regular cheap wet oil lube. Now the driveline was back to its perfect change and near total silence.

So not impressed with this Finish Line Teflon Plus Dry chain lube.

So much cleaner than the wet variety! I remove my chain and after degrease and cleaning, let it sit in this lube while I clean the rest of the drive train, then wipe it down and replace chain. works great and doesn’t seem to collect as much grit and grime as the wet lubes.

I ride a full suspension MTB on and off road and use this procedure about every 200-250 miles. about 2 or 3 weeks. 8 oz bottle probably a 6 month supply for me. Gets a thumbs up from me!.

I reapply every 150 or 200 miles. Every 600 miles i remove the chain and cassettes and clean with a safe solvent and dry the chain the sun. Then apply the FLTP lube once, wait overnight then reapply.

Keeps the chain quiet and increases the life of the drivetrain.

I might have purchased this 20 yrs ago and I never opened the package until yesterday. I used it on my 33 yr old car key door locks and I can not believe how incredible this lube works. It turns so effortless now, it’s truly amazing.

24 hrs earlier it felt like my key was going to break inside the lock.

I’ve used this product for many years now, and it still works beautifully for my ride conditions. I road-and-mountain-bike in mostly dry conditions in Arizona and Colorado, and this lub performs well and doesn’t attract excess dirt and contaminants on the chain.

I wanted a light weight chain Lube for my 8 day tour to France to save weight and space. I can not say there is anything wrong with the lube but this tin barely managed to oil the chain once. Frankly its too small to do the job.

You could buy 2 but itvstarts to look pricy then. If it were 100 ml in the same size can that would be worthwhile.

Received product after ordering and applied according to description. That is to say, the chain is well degreased, rinsed and dried and then Muc-off dry lube applied. In good weather conditions, the chain must now continue to run smoothly and remain nice and clean.

I am very curious about the experience. For a chain, it always applies that you check the lubrication in time. There’s nothing worse than a noisy chain destroying your sprockets.

Bought for a recent week long trip to Scotland (rained every day!). This lube kept the chain in good condition and easy to use, however ran out after about 5 days. Felt that there should have been more product in the can, or maybe just needs to be bigger! Wouldn’t have needed to use every day if weather was dry as it would have kept the chain in good condition and not got washed off.

My experience with this lube is that if it’s applied correctly, it’s awesome. My drive chain has been running silently and smoothly since I started using it. That said, application is finicky and to get anything out of it, you need to follow the instructions to the letter.

If you expect to use this stuff 5 minutes before heading out on a dusty 50 mile ride, you are going to be seriously disappointed as it tends to turn into a oily sticky mess. As per the bottle: 1. Clean your chain! Really, it should be completely and thoroughly degreased.

This stuff dosen’t want to stick to any part that is covered in grease, dirt or oil. 2. After cleaning, let your chain dry completely. The lube’s carrier appears to be hydrophobic, meaning if your chain is wet, it won’t stick and just beads up.

3. Let the lube dry out after application. The instructions say to wait at least 3-4 hours, but in my experience it’s best to let it sit overnight. 4. Use the UV Light. It works, and you can see links that clearly don’t have lube in the rollers.

You can also see if the lube is beading up and not sticking to the metal.

I couldn’t be more impressed with this lube. Compared to other lubes I’ve used in the past, this lasts at least a few rides (in dry conditions). If you apply it at least an hour before a ride (3-4 hours is recommended) it will penetrate perfectly and have you pedaling with a silent drivetrain.

And if you follow the instructions, it really doesn’t attract dirt/dust much. A quick wipe down with an all purpose cleaner every few rides and re-applying and you’ll be able to go weeks or months without having to deep clean your drivetrain.

Super impressed and will continue buying and using this lube for mountain and road riding.

The Muc-Off Ceramic Bike Lubricant is one of their premium lubricants, apart from the Sky version, which is much higher priced. I would suggest that the product is ordered online and paid for and collected in store, as the online price is cheaper than going to the store and paying for it off the shelf.

Ordering online and going to the store to collect and pay can be done within one hour and it’s a simple process. THE LUBRICANT IS EASY TO APPLY – I just put a drop of oil on each link and slowly rotate the chain to the next section that requires a drop on each link.

This method uses less oil than rotating the chain and continuously pouring oil on the chain as it quickly goes round. I just simply use the flourescent light to ensure that the oil has penetrated down into each link, then leave the chain for 3 – 4 hours to dry, then I am ready to cycle.

Had to write a review to warn of others. This dry lube is just not good. After cleaning the drive train and applying the lube to the chain etc i’d get maybe 100ish km out before a reapplication was needed.

My drive train was always a bit on the noisy side compared to WD-40 dry lube. Shifting was also a bit noisy. Its a wax based formula. maybe thats why? It does come off really easily during cleaning i will give them this point and it doesn’t attract as much dirt/grime compared to some of the other brands (assuming you are wiping off the excess).

But having to reapply before every ride its a pain in the behind. With other dry lubes i got 500-800 km before needing a cleanup and reapplication.

If applied correctly, it will work great. you need to clean your chain and drive train and then apply this solution. letting it dry for 3 hrs before riding. Good: Really good lubricant – tested by a youtuber.

Used on my Trek SL6 Emonda with Ultegra groupset. I ride a fairly high mileage and have a regular and well established degreasing, cleaning, maintenance and oiling regime. I followed my normal regime and then used this oil for the first time.

OMG! I set out on a 100 kms ride and had to turn around after only 10 kms. The noise coming from the chain and cassette was unbelievable and completely unbearable. Squeak, squeak, crunch, grrrrr, squeak, crunch, It was akin to picking up an abandoned bike left in a field for a year and trying to ride it home.

Terrible. When I got home I re degreased the chain and cassette, applied some pretty cheap oil I had lying around and. perfect 🙂 I won’t dispute if this product actually does the job of lubricating the parts as it’s supposed to do, however, be warned, if you buy this oil better get yourself some headphones to go with it.

Couldn’t be more disappointed, Complete waste of money on what is supposed to be a premium product.

Unfortunately this is the first review I have to give 1-star too. This product is so “watered-down” (chemically they use ether, not water, to dilute it), that you have to use two or three times the amount as other lubes to get adequate coverage that lasts.

Believe me, when you apply this lube, all you will smell is a strong pungent odor of ether used to dilute it. This lube bills itself as a semi-dry lube, meaning it doesn’t contain wax or fluoropolymers like conventional dry lubes.

Unfortunately it doesn’t fair well for long-term use. I have to reapply after just a few rides (maybe 100 miles or so), wiping down the chain in between applications with a rag. If you apply too little lube to your chain, you will know instantly – your drivetrain will squeak like it’s missing adequate lubricate while riding and there will ample ‘feedback’ of the drivetrain resistance while pedaling.

As for the “all conditions” claim? I have to say you’re better off buying a wet lube and a dry lube and applying them appropriately. In the dry conditions you can get away with this lube, but in the wet, it simply washes away too quickly.

About the only good thing I can say about this lube is it’s good for beginners who tend to apply way too much chain lube. I can’t even say the cheap price is a positive, because you’ll run through it faster than a quality lube because of it being so diluted.

A good in-between bike chain lubricant, for either dry or wet conditions. Perfect for preparing your bike for long rides in which the conditions are unpredictable. I find it especially useful for dirt trails in which both the dust of the ride and water and mud from rain are possible concerns.

Went out on muddy trails and got caught in a rain storm at the end. Chain suck was terrible after going through puddles. Washed all the lube right off. Talked to the LBS and employee had a similar experience.

Now I just use it when I need dry lube. It does get very clumpy and has cause chain drop as well. Just not the best for muddy humid Houston riding.

Squirt long lasting lube This lube is much better than any other oil based lube. Performance is somewhat good. But the durability is less it lasts long only for 30 kilometres on-road ride. Manufacturer recommends there is no need for degreaser to clean the chain except for the first time, from the second use just use a rag cloth to clean the chain and re-apply the lube.

Dirty black grime starts to build-up which is unavoidable with this lube. After applying the Lube, chain needs an overnight to dry. While riding the bike small minute sand particles stick to the chain which in turn starts to grind the chain and pulleys.

During the first application cleaned the chain with hot water then with WD-40, liquid detergent followed with mineral spirits. Finally cleaned and rinsed with thinner using toothbrush ensuring the chain is well cleaned.

Applied the lube with double coats then dried for about 12 hours. The chain and the applied lube was clean. Rided the bike for 30 kilometres, initially the performance of the lube was good. After that black dirt grime starts to build-up, cleaned with clean rag cloth and re-applied the lube.

After riding about 6 kilometres chain got dirty black grime and minute sand particles sticking onto the chain. This lube doesn’t last long as like paraffin wax. Better than other oil lubes. But perfoms much lesser than paraffin wax.

Wax based lube is best to keep the drive train clean and neat. But the chain has to be lubed frequently. Wax based lube durability is low but has cleanliness higher than oil based and Grease based lube.

For such a performance the lube is costly. False promises made by the manufacturer 1. Last long on-road 50 miles and off-road 100 miles. Exactly lasts only for 30 km on-road. 15-20 km off-road. 2. No need to degrease while re-applying the lube.

Actually chain has to be cleaned for re-lubing.

It’s a good product on the topmost thing is you don’t have to degrease It frequently in order to put new lube on it. But there is two concern first it doesn’t last very long I would say it last for a 30-50 km ride after that you can itself feel some of the wattages are being wasted.

Second thing is that it takes almost 12 hrs to dry up on the chain before you can ride your bicycle. Yes, it does keep your drive train slightly cleaner than oil-based but still black grime is unavoidable.

Regarding wearing of the components that can’t say surely but it feels like you should be cautious as its wax-based and when the wax gets worn off on any part of the chain whether it’s a small spot or large that place won’t’ be lubricating itself as its wax it doesn’t flow as oil does.

But yes the sound of the chain is almost nil until the wax last. so in my opinion it’s ok lube but always keep lubricating it after every 30-40 km to make sure ur drive train is safe and lasts longer.

Internet is gaga about squirt lube and how long it lasts. This is the second time I’m buying it and my experience has been a mixed bag. I’ve never experienced the longevity it is famous for. Yes ive applied it properly and left it for 24 hours before using it.

Other lubes that are similarly or less expensive like the muc-off dry and the TF2 wax do an equally good job sometimes for less money. Save your money, try the mini pack and draw your own conclusion.

I will stick with the TF2 Dry Wax for now.

This product is good value and does the job. I think that more advice could be given with the product about how to use it. Even reference to on line instructions would be good. There are only a very few lines printed on the side of the bottle which also include general safety instructions.

As this is also in four other languages they hadn’t got room for detailed advice. As this was my first purchase my main problem was how to get the oil to come out of the bottle. I tried cutting off some of the end of the spout with no result.

Eventually I found that the spout could be unscrewed art the base revealing a pull off plastic seal. I suggest that opening instructions should be written on the side as well.

Not sure why REI is selling this at all. PFTE lubes do not work better, it just makes the problem of PFAS pollution worse. REI should do better. I noticed no improved performance with this product, imo the pfte is a gimmick, and unfortunately one with toxic consequences.

If you are riding in the rain a lot, this is the best lubricant out there for keeping your chain lubed. It goes on, and stays on. But there’s a caveat. It attracts a lot of grime, dirt, dust and anything else.

It only takes a short period of time before your chain will be loaded with gunk. However, if you’re the kind of person who is okay cleaning your chain, and re-applying the lube every 50-100 miles or so, then this may be a great lubricant for you.

Do NOT use this lube in dry conditions, or just everyday riding. You’ll regret it, for the aforementioned reasons.

I commute on the PNW coast – even when it’s not raining the ground is usually wet for 3 seasons. I’ve never felt I needed to reapply in-between bike washes, which I usually only do if there’s noticeable mud and gunk caked on the bike.

I did a 140-mile bikepacking jaunt in Montana in dry conditions with lots of dust. I applied the lube beforehand and didn’t take any with me, and all was fine. What’s nice about this is you can hose off the drivetrain and the lube is still mostly there.

It’s a great product too if you aren’t prone to frequent maintenance.

Please note this product is made for wet conditions. If you get out on a ride with heavy rain and snow or intend to have fun on a muddy trail, I would say go for it. If you take rides in dry conditions or even heavy fog, go for Finish Line Dry.

Don’t assume your ride will be pleasant if you use this product in dry summer, spring, fall, or even winter. A lot of cyclists who get on a ride or two a season believe the wetter, the better, but it is not.

This product is good for a few “wet rides. ” It is sticky, so heavy rain or salt won’t wash it away easily. It is definitely too wet and too greasy for “dry rides. ” If you buy it for dry rides, expect having to clean your chain drive more frequently.

I personally love Finish Line Dry even for wet conditions. It keeps the entire chain drive clean and smooth. I have noticed though that 1-hour rides in heavy rain leave only a trace of the lube on my chain.

Road salt is something I struggled with for a long time. This 2 oz. bottle helped solve the problem. I apply it whenever I know it will rain for a day, or two. I apply it whenever I hear salt trucks cruising around my neighborhood.

Giving it 5 stars as it does what it intends to do: making your wet and salty rides smooth.

I am a bit confused with the directions. It states to apply to a “clean chain”. The only time my chain was clean was when my bike was brand new! Do I need to clean the chain before applying? I don’t know.

It is the price I pay for being such a literal thinker. Anywho. Undaunted, I applied the solution to my “nearly clean” chain. And found that as I peddled, the ride was indeed smoother and quieter. Fewer squeaks.

One thing I really like is not having to use gease any more on my chain. I find it messy. This was very simple: take the top off, back-pedal, and squeese. Done.

I’ve always grown up with WD-40 products in our household and we use it for anything and everything! When I had the chance to try their WD-40 BIKE® – All-Conditions Chain Lube, I was pretty excited! At first, I was thrown off by it’s small size but then I quickly realized that it’s actually perfect for spraying bicycle chains because it’s smaller it can get into the tight areas that larger cans can’t reach.

I like that they include their iconic spray extender on the can like their original product, it really helps to get in the spaces of the bike chains that can be hard to access. I used the WD-40 BIKE® – All-Conditions Chain Lube on my 6 year old sons bike, which he leaves out in the rain all the time! His chain is a little rusty and squeaky but this specific chain lube helped tremendously! I sprayed the product on very thoroughly and let it sit a few minutes and wiped it off then sprayed it again.

He was off to riding his bike with no loud squeaks and he says it’s a very smooth ride now. I’m actually very impressed by theWD-40 BIKE® – All-Conditions Chain Lube, I know that we will be making this a permanent tool in our house!.

I have been riding a long time, bicycles. road MTB and now gravel, and own, and have owned many chain-driven motorcycles over the decades. First, do not use MC chain lubricant on bicycle chains and vice versa.

They are engineered for different chains/RPMs/conditions. Second, I use “DRY” on my gravel bike, and it works just fine in all conditions. I also like to keep my chain and cassette/deraliuer spotless and lubed between rides.

I don’t clean/degrease and lube after every ride, but no more than 3 rides of 25-30kms and then its time. not for everyone, but I’m a little OCD when it comes to my maintaining bikes. I ride mostly on a mix of grushed gravel and packed dirt, and combinations thereof.

The fine crushed gravel will mess up your drive-train in a hurry if you don’t pay attention. Finaly, I am not sure of the reference of the “citronelle smell” or odour is, but I can’t smell anything from this product.

And I do not have any medical issues, so I guess some peoples noses are more sensitive than others. In summation, I would say for the price, you will get a lot of use if used as directed. It is all dependant on how often you ride, where you ride and how hard you ride.

The wax lube that I have used has one significant drawback – it comes off in no time on sandy trails. That’s the reason why I had decided to try this lube. Having used it twice I know that it might be good for bolts, pulleys and cables, but it is definitely unsuitable for chain lubrication.

Since the draivtrain even after 30 km of riding in city condition is a total mess and creaks as hell.

Earlier i was using only wd40 for cleaning the chain and was running it dry, but after using park tool synthetic oil the previous noise of running dry chain vanished and it became very smooth. Also riding on elevation is a lot easier with less effort as compared to earlier.

Only one drawback is that the chain is attracting a lot more dust as compared to the dry one.

I’ve been using this stuff for ~20 years on road and mtb. It’s liquid, but sets up to a slushy semisolid once the solvent evaporates. (similar to T-9) It runs quietly, I get good chain life, and it doesn’t accumulate dirt like other wet lubes.

I’ve used it in damp/wet conditions and in dry dusty conditions with good results. I apply it fairly frequently putting a drop on each roller, rotating the crank a bunch of times, then wiping off any excess with a old terrycloth rag.

There are many other lubes out there with miracle claims, but this stuff has worked well for me.

I’ve been using ProLink ProGold as a road bike chain lube for many years. I generally get good life out of my chains, which I attribute in part to fairly regular cleaning and lubing (about every 500 miles) with this ProLink product.

My experience with this lube is mostly in dry conditions, so I can’t say how well it lasts in the wet. Overall, I’m very happy with the Prolink ProGold chain lube.

Yes. I’ve had plenty of experience with it on road bikes, MTBs, commuter bikes & in slushy Toronto weather. This had been the only product I used so just got used to my chain becoming dirty very quickly.

It is a thin lubricant and lubes well with repeated application but I found that my chains become black and greasy over a short time. If you are diligent with regular/routine drivetrain degreasing you’ll be fine.

But if you let it go too long your drive chain will become very dirty with this product–even after application. As one reviewer had already mentioned, your chain must be immaculately before application or it will draw out the unseen residue and it’ll collect on the cogs and side plates.

I have since switched to Purple Extreme and I’m much happier with this product. It is also thin lube but so far my chains have stayed cleaner over a longer intervals. Give this a try if you are picky about having a fresh crispy drivetrains.

I bought this just after Christmas and have ridden 1500km or so throughout a very wet and muddy winter. This is the best lube I have ever used. Normally my drivetrain would start making noise 20 or 30km into a ride using standard wet lubes after constant blasting from wet and grit but since using Smoove the smoothness of the drivetrain is incredibly noticeable throughout rides of over 100km in these same conditions.

I will completely clean and de grease my chain and cogs after every ride and reapply Smoove the night before my next ride which may seem like a ball ache but if you want to keep your gear running well for as long as possible during winter you have just got to suck it up, no matter what any company says no lubes can be left on and achieve perfect performance in winter conditions for long periods of time.

Application is easy, if not slightly messy and I find a cloth sprayed with some silicon spray easily gets rid of the drips that get on the frame and wheels. As yet to use in the summer but predict that reapplication will become less frequent as it really stands up in the worst conditions of winter.

If you keep on top of your maintenance then this is amongst the best there is.

I love Smoove Lube. It goes on, stays on and keeps on working in ALL conditions. Sure, there’s a bit of work to do to ensure the first application is to a degreased chain, even if it’s a brand new one, but from then on it’s a doddle.

Just make sure you apply a good hour (best the night before) your ride and you’re good to go. Depending on conditions, I may only need to re-lube every 3rd of 4th ride even in the winter! It’s the best and I have tried a lot!.

I have intensively used various chain lubricants, from normal Shimano chain oil, to Innotech 105 and Squirt Lube. Smoove beats everyone by far! Yesterday 420km. cycled in one piece with the racing bike.

Smoove held excellently without regreasing! Real respect! No dirt, no sand on the chain, no crunching. It’s also second to none for cleaning! Simply clean with a damp cloth and you’re done. No smear, no grease, no dirt that you can hardly wash off.

It is important to have a completely clean and degreased chain and complete gearbox, then Smoove also works. I recommend white spirit for degreasing. Insert the chain several times and clean it until the benzine remains clear and there are no oil residues in the chain links.

Smoove must then be well distributed in the chain. I. e. after approx. 5. use it develops its full potential. It is best to apply it every evening before the tour and let it dry overnight. The chain and cassette then last much longer than with other lubricants because no dirt / sand / dust adheres to the chain and the grinding effect is reduced to a minimum.

Even with a plate on the rear wheel, it is a pleasure to change the tube – no dirty hands from the chain. Really great stuff !!!!!! I have now switched my 6 bikes to Smoove (racing bike, gravel, cross, fitness, MTB, Ebike).

Of course, it takes more effort to degrease, but it’s worth it! Can fully recommend!.
