20 Best Drops For Dog Dry Eye (2023 Updated)

My white labradoodle Oscar has always had runny eyes that would harden into an ugly mess and run down his face causing red staining on his hair. Once I started cleaning his eyes every day with this rinse and a non-woven pad he looks like a different dog.

I do use it EVERY day to keep on top of it, but it eliminates virtually all the associated problems with runny eyes. Very gentle on eyes, too. I wet a corner of the pad with the rinse and then carefully apply several drops as directly into his eyes as I can get them, then wipe the excess with the dampened pad.

Oscar doesn’t wince or struggle but those 2nd eyelids are pretty tightly closed when the rinse goes in. I keep several bottles on hand!.

This is a great product for baby kittens to clean their eyes that have infection. It seemed that all of my local stores were out of stock, and I needed this product to clean the kitty’s eyes. I ordered two bottles from Walmart last Thursday, and while tracking my product, it told me my box would arrive Saturday!! In two days!!!! Buy Vetericyn Antimicrobial Eyewash instead. My dog had goopy eye discharge likely from allergies, but possibly bacterial too. I used this for a week or two. Maybe it helped a little just as an eye rinse, but it might have caused redness too.

The redness could have been there before the eye drops, but I think this eye wash was causing the redness which is a common side effect of boric acid eye wash. Not 100% sure though. BUT this eyewash was not resolving the problem anyway and obviously my dog can’t tell me if it was irritating his eyes more.

This is to compliment Rx Optimmune eye ointment. Together, they work great and I stopped needing to clean crust off my Shih Tzu’s eyes with saline or eye wash. I like the eye dropper bottle better and love that Ocunovis doesn’t expire after 60 days like Optixcare Eye Lube Plus.

However, like Systane Gel Drops, it is only easy to apply for the first half of the bottle. Then the product becomes so difficult to dispense. I would have to squeeze so hard it sometimes comes out the side of the bottle top.

My dog will not sit patiently while I shake this bottle above his face. It made me miss Optixcare so much, I’m going back to it. With a 20 g tube for 60 days, I can waste some drops. I can also use it to clean occasional crust off his eyes or face.

I just rub the excess gel on my dry fingertips. However if Ocunovis ever makes a larger size or tube version. I would definitely try it.

I bought these for my senior rescue whose eyes produce more boogers than tears. His vet recommended eye drops for now and possible medicated ones in the future if these don’t help. Anyway, these seem to help! As others have mentioned, it is a tiny bit harder to get the product out compared to regular eye drops, but that’s because these drops are thicker than “normal” eye drops.

My shih-tzu has severe dry eye. Animal eye specialist vet sold me this eye drop, it’s almost $30. After I finished use this, I asked the vet if there is cheaper alternative eye drop her, then the vet recommended regular eye drops for dry eye for humans.

I use these drops on my 9yo beagle who has KCS. They provide great for relief of dry eyes. He actually enjoys getting his drops!! I use them as often as possible in between his daily Optimmune dose. The idrops are a little on the thick side making it nicer to not just roll out of his eyes.

I have just started using these eye drops on my dogs eyes and they are doing very well. I have noticed less inflammation so I am very happy so far.

Too early to tell if it will work on the cataract but it has helped with the eye discharge. So now I wonder if she has dry eye too. The one thing that bothers me tho is the dropper bottle itself. I’ve been sent a new one- thanks entirely pets- but it acts the same.

This product was recommended by my vet to improve the vision and arrest the buildup of cloudy corneas in my 14 year old Standard Poodle. And it’s working very well! There is less cloudiness in her eyes, and she can see better.

I’ll be using Ocluvet on my Poodle from now on. The only drawback is it seems to give my dog some irritation at the time of introduction, but that quickly dissipates.

I have been using this preparation for about two months now, and it appears to be having a beneficial effect. This stuff is expensive, and the little bottles it comes in do not make it easy to administer the required number of drops to each eye of a 70 pound Labrador retriever.

A separate old-style medicine dropper marked in milliliters, with a soft rubber bulb, would enable you to draw up the required dose and then apply it with a positive squeeze, instead of struggling with a stiff plastic bottle.

This has done wonders for my dog. She suffers from chronic dry eye which has left her with very limited vision in both eyes. We tried everything from expensive prescriptions to other over the counter drops.

Nothing really helped until this. I use it in conjunction with the MicrocynAH eye and ear wash, putting 2-3 drops of it in each eye twice a day followed by the gel. You must be careful with the gel because it will come out rather fast if you don’t squeeze the bottle gently.

This product really works!!! My dog woke with flaming red eyes with discharge on a Saturday morning. Knowing I wouldn’t be able to get an appointment for the vet until Monday, I researched all OTC eye meds to hopefully relieve some of the discomfort.

This is amazing product better! My baby got conjunctivitis and the vets gave antibiotics which cleared his eyes. As soon as the treatment course was over and a week latter his eyes started showing symptoms for conjunctivitis.

After so much research I thought I will try lubrithal which is amazing as after a week his eyes were clear. I would buy again.

I used this product after reading all the raving reviews on how good it was. My dog is a cross between a Lhasa and a pug. He has pug eyes. I used eye drops from the vet, which improved the gunk in his eyes, but it is expensive.

I bought this as an alternative and it made the issue significantly worse.

This product is ridiculously priced, especially for half a tube of air. It’s also impossible to get the rest of this expensive medication out of the tube when you are near the end. Company is very deceptive mailed my pets prescription in to have it filled and I noticed when they mailed the prescription to me it didn’t have the 2 refills it should of had. They told me their system doesn’t print out the remaining refills?? The ointment was liquid due to heat, they kept telling me some bs about their system was down and they couldn’t look at my order.

Also the 30% discount is BS to. They give it to you THEN ADD IT BACK IN FOR A HANDLING FEE. I’m sure that was just a way to make you feel like your getting a good discount ONLY TO TAKE IT BACK. I wouldn’t deal with them again.

But they need to step up on the remaining refills.

Keeping my girl safe from losing sight in her only functional eye. Lost sight in other eye due to primary glaucoma. 4 year old Siberian Husky, apparently it is a genetic predisposition.

I have a whole new dog now. We didn’t realize her eyes were causing her pain. She would snap and we just thought she didn’t like kids. Now she is very gentle with my children and back to her old self.
