20 Best Drill Bits For Ceramic Tile (2023 Updated)

I build custom showers 17 years now not one complaint or problem ever I use these foe all my showers installing grab bars glass doors of all types. Yes I burn through a lot of bits in tile but these last the longest box stores 19.

99 4 bits exact same so I and my customers save something at least. Not a lot of name brand Ive tried but a cheap arrow head type will make a pilot hole and extends these bosh bits a lot longer usage 100% happy Below these 3 baths pictured everything pictured is on 1 set of the Bosh and a cheap arrowhead generic set as pilot holes.

That is so much more than we normally get.

Read the fine print on back, these are made for ceramic not porcelain. Porcelain will burn them up however for ceramic it cuts like butter (little water of course) the large bit broke ( maybe a fluke) the others are still like new.

Just make sure you use them in ceramic.

Needed to drill holes in shower tile in order to hang a fixed shower rod. Only used one of the bits to drill holes through the grout and through the actual ceramic tile. Worked perfectly. Really happy with the bits.

These are made for glass and ceramic tile. Not suitable for porcelain. If you are drilling porcelain you should be using a drill with continuous water flow. This bit will heat up, like any drill bit going through dense material.

Keep a wet rag handy to cool the tip everyone 5 seconds or so. The first time I used one, it blew apart because I let it overheat. The one I’m using now has drilled at least 100 holes.

You can do it 2 ways, slow and steady way, drill for a few seconds, dip the bit in water. 2nd option, much quicker, have a person continuously spray the hole while your drilling. Drilled 8 holes tonight through porcelain tiles in under 10 minutes and bit still doesn’t walk and it still drills quickly.

It finished the job. They do not last long. The cutter needs to be a thicker steel. Like I said it finished the job. One time use.

Expensive but gets the job done. You have to use this bit at high speed. A drill will not be fast enough to cut continously horizontal or vertical. My rotory tool worked well.

Just short of a diamond bit, it digs in and moves material like no diamond can. A little bit that goes a long way. Handle with care, it shatters under shock. Keep one in stock. A small bit like this is just the trick to fix a big machine like a D8 Caterpillar when it needs a grease monkey like me.

Nothing else works like this carbide made of powdered metal technology. Get er done. No matter what anybody says.

Worked well to notch glass tile without cracking. Use the highest speed your rotary tool can go and cool the bit with water frequently.

I just received this bit an hour ago, and already set up and drilled 1/2″ perfect holes in 4 bottles. Fantastic – all smiles here

Good drill. Drilled right through my ceramic tile with water to cool it.

Got the job done, drilling four holes in bathroom wall tile to install a towel rod. I used in a Black and Decker cordless power drill and the bit did take a little time to catch and make the initial puncture but once the head was sunk, drilled right through so I could tap in the anchors.

These bits work great for glass and enamel coated tiles. The hard baked ceramic, not so much. 1 bit per hole.

If you have a hundred holes to drill in glass, then these bits would not last to even fifty percent, even if you’d used water, used pilot holes with smaller bits. You can test them but I text here from experience and am familiar with the life of these glass, ceramic, tile, drill bits.

It’s your call. If you can drill more with these bits, please share your methods since I’d love to see them as well as everyone else who’s wanting great results at a cheap price. Cheers! PS Also, consider the thickness of the material you’re drilling.

These bits were also great in wood to do countersinks for toe nailing at various angles and the brad point, metal bits were great for toe nailing holes if the thickness and length of the screw you’re using is short.

Had to put a toilet flange in over porcelain tile. Did my research. Some reviews suggested diamond tipped bits. I looked at lowes and other stores for what they carried. Carbide tip or diamond seemed to be the consensus.

As I always do, I checked HF for products and reviews. This set of bits looked pretty good. And for the money, they actually looked great. Let’s give it a try. The other thing that I liked about it was this was a set, not just one bit with one size.

I did my first hole through a partial piece of tile that covered half of the hole. My next holes were through solid porcelain. I would drill for about 20 seconds with a slower speed and constant pressure on the drill, then pull the bit out and dunk in a glass of water to cool.

This worked well and it took about three to four minutes total drilling time to get through the 1/4 inch tile. On my last hole I experimented with making a smaller (pilot) hole and then completing with my chosen size finish bit.

This worked quite well and ‎I will probably adapt this technique in the future. I used a regular drill. Some reviewers suggested using a hammer drill, but I did not want to take a chance on cracking the tile.

Also, I bought two packs of drills, but didn’t open the second one. I will keep it for the future. This was a great purchase and the fact is, I got two sets for the price of one Bosch bit. Did I mention that I love Harbor Freight?.

Project: drill several drain holes in a rather large decorative floor plant pot. The pot ceramic was harder than terra cotta but probably not as tough as floor tiles. Drilled three holes using three bits with water lubricant.

After each hole the corresponding bit was fairly dull. Still, it was a cost-effective solution (for a pot costing nearly $100) that went fast.

Thanks to Home Depot for getting me out of a jam. I could not drill through the shower wall to mount a glass door. The shower turned out to be 1/2” stone. During Covid there was no access to the store.

I ordered online and the Home Depot employee went in and picked my order in less than 1/2 hour. This was over and above normal customer service. This allowed me to finish the job and not have to return the following week, keeping the job under budget.

The drill bit did the job, it did take some time, making sure to keep the bit cool.

Suckers worked really great for tub tile installing safety rails for an elderly client. No breaking, easy cutting I would say the packaging is excessive and I just put them in my other but carrier

Perfect for drilling even very hard tiles. Perfect diameter on the other hand these forests are not suitable for drilling hollow bricks. I use these drills to fix the decorative elements of our bathroom.

And make all the pre holes before going to conventional drilling and especially avoid the dab on the tiles. This product is perfect for DIYers and pros. VS.

It took me time to find and purchase the item. But i was looking specifiaclly for it and i wasn’t wrong. I used the 6mm drill head followed by the 8mm head and the drill went smoothly through my ceramics.

The drill heads are firm and qualitative. The pack box is very convinient and elegant. Didn’t find any cons. Bosch didn’t dissapoint one more time.

I bought these after seeing the reviews on how they drilled into porcelain tiles. I have to say I was totally disappointed as I managed 1 hole and a bit before the drill bit crumbled. I ended up buying a erbauer diamond cut drill bit and it cut through like butter.

Being Bosch I was expecting better from the product and I wont be using them again.

Because of the small diameter, the slotted tube construction distorts easily if insufficient care is taken when drilling deep holes resulting in an unusable product Used with care, I drilled 4 holes 1″ deep in granite before drilling progress became too slow.

Bought these to drill 5 6mm holes into tiles to install a shower screen. First hole drilled to completion. Second hole the drill bit totally disintegrated sending half of it smoking fown onto a brand new shower tray and proceeded to melt into it.

Absolutely furious that this drill bit has destroyed weeks of hard work. NEVER PURCHASE THIS SET!.

Extremely poor quality, smallest drills snapped almost immediately, larger drills managed 1 or 2 holes before they disintegrated. If you’re looking for tile drills, avoid these at all costs!!!! Have given these one star as you cannot give negative stars!.

Good value and quality item for drilling holes into ceramic tiles. It does wear out fairy quickly despite constantly wetting the tip. Hopefully I can still drill a few more holes.

I drilled six Hemingray insulators in less than 15 min. Used the inside rubber from a 2″ no-hub coupling ( the kind with the stainless bands) to slip over the end of the insulator and hold the water over the drill bit.

I am sure this same coupling would work for many insulators. Mine were Hemingray 40s.

I cut a lot of glass & these are great, they are the only ones I have found that cut holes this size, they leave a nice smooth hole & they last, but are kind of hard to find, I have 2 & had to order both online.

Just keep it wet and take your time. Makes clean holes in porcelain tile.

The above cutter was used to cut floor tile,did the job well,with nice clean cut also good price.

I used this 3/8″ drill to drill holes in glass telephone insulators. I kept it lubricated with oil, used a drill press, and applied medium pressure for ten seconds at a time and then release to allow the bit to pick up more oil.

It took about 3-4 minutes of drilling to drill a hole between 3/8″ and 1/2″ deep. After drilling 10 to 20 holes, the drill began to dull and took much longer to drill each hole. For the price of the bit, I think it is reasonable to get 10 to 20 holes before having to replace it.

Unfortunately, I actually need to drill a 7/16″ hole in the telephone insulators, so after drilling a 3/8″ hole with this bit, I need to use an 11mm diamond coated coring bit to widen the hole. The coring bit is not able to drill the full depth of the hole by itself.

I bought this to drill through acrylic and wow. Perfect holes, no overheating. Absolutely worth the money.

These things are great! My fiancé and I make alcohol bottle lamps together and these are the most well-built and durable bits we’ve used! It does seem to take a long time to get through the bottom of the bottle, (may be because of drill, the fact that glass takes longer to drill, or coating on the tip), but I haven’t broken a bottle yet with these! I tried the bits from ryobi and they were horrible, they all fell apart and bent after a couple uses, but these have stayed strong, get them!.

This drill bit is junk. Broke on me after drilling one small home through tile. Bought another one and the same thing happen.

After numerous cuts it keeps its cutting edge sharp
