20 Best Drill Bit For Concrete Slab (2023 Updated)

Bought this because I found I needed a *real* masonry bit after my multipurpose one was wearing through way too fast. This one chewed through some 40-50 boreholes through asphault and whatever else was needed to get through in order to give me some decent holes for driving 1/2″ rebar.

It’s clearly worn. But not by much. This bit doesn’t owe me a dime and worthy every cent I paid.

Good quality, have used it for drilling holes in a concrete floor to anchor lumber to install a sub floor. It worked where a Hilti gun would not. Combined with a Rotary Hammer, little effort is needed to quickly drill all the holes you want, but let the tool do the work, don’t force it.

The hammering action makes quick work of it.

I bought this bit to drill 1″ wide by 12″ deep holes into hard granite boulders. I drilled a total of 4 holes. The first one went surprisingly smooth and each one after that was progressively more laboured.

I tried to keep the bit cool and let it work slow but the tip still got burnt and became noticeably more dull. Despite that if I wanted to be patient I’m sure I could still more holes. I’m not sure but I bet this would be a great bit with long life if used only in concrete.

The granite was very hard on it but it did get the job done.

Great product at a great price. Had to bore through 4” of concert and 4” of brick. Job done in 20 minutes, it chewed through it like a knife through butter.

I used the 4″ diameter bit to drill a hole through a 12″ thick brick wall. It required very little effort. The long shank makes it easier to guide straight, even if you are not drilling such a deep hole.

There is no noticable wear or damage after drilling the hole, so it can probably be used to drill many more.

i use the drill to drill holes in concrete, concrete block, and stone to insert 3 1/2 inch Sch 40 conduit and pipe through walls. The starter bit is long enough to make locating on the mark easy. It bores rapidly through the material and does not lead off.

It remains sharp and doesn’t excessively heat up during usage.

These folks sold mke a nice Hilti bit at a very fair price. Quick delivery too! Some on the internet are stating the SDS & SDS+ bit shanks are not interchangable. YES THEY ARE, I use SDS+ in my old Hilti TE12S without a problem, they fit and perform fine.

Light weight workhorse. My go to for building rock routes. Does heat up like any drill bit in dense rock (quartzite). Rotate 4-6 bits to extend useful life.

I’ve bolted and rebolted lots of routes and this is the best bit I’ve used. I have used this bit on over 100 bolt holes in Granite and occasionally on limestone. Sure at the end I couldn’t get as many holes in a battery charge but it still worked well! Since I’ve lost this bit I’ve been using a brand new standard 2 point bit and it’s definitely an inferior product than the 4 point Hilti bit.

The 2 point bit -takes more time to drill a hole -drains a battery faster 4 point bits is the way to go. Don’t believe me? Try it!.

I bought this set today. Drilled easily through mortar joints and brick. Got an even better deal on them with the 25% off coupon.

For the cost, a good product. I take care of rentals and flip homes. I always carry a set of these in my pick-up. Sure, there are a lot of better impact drills and bits, but not at this price. These are good quality and easy to sharpen, (use green grinding wheels).

Bit shows with centering bit but came without one, tried to reach seller twice, no reply. Good bit and I came up with a way to use it but it would have been appropriate to mention in the ad that it did not come with it especially if the picture showed it with one.

We’ve been looking for years for quality 3/16′ Masonry Drill Bit in which you can use over and over and over as long as you keep your bit cool (using a coolant made specifically for cooling if you are drilling, grinding, etc) and drill at a slow speed.

This is the drill bit that WORKS. We drill hundreds of holes in tile each day and we need a drill bit that is going to get the job done on a daily basis. I recommend this drill bit to anyone because it meets all of our needs each day.

it took me no time at all to put a 1 inch hole in a brick wall. this is necessary for us to redo compressor lines using Schedule 80 pvc. i looked everywhere for this drill bit (home depot; lowes; etc).

it is simply amazing how you beat them all across the board. happy thanksgiving to all of you, folks.

The chuck shank is a circle so had issues preventing it from slipping in the chuck. I am not a professional so maybe this is normal but I can’t understand why there wouldn’t be flats on the chucking surface.

Anyway, after constantly re-tightening the chuck on the hammer drill, I was able to drill the 23. 5″ hole that was required. It looks to be in perfect condition after that.

Bought one because it seemed reasonably priced for a bit with a solid carbide tip. However it does not drill appreciably faster than cheaper bits with a carbide insert (I timed several and there was very little difference).

Furthermore the hole is very tight requiring more work to pound the bolts in which is a bit of a disadvantage when drilling on lead. Finally the bits with a carbide insert are very easy to sharpen after every 8-10 holes on the right type of grinding wheel which dramatically decreases drilling time.

If you can find a good price I’d stick to other name brand SDS bits that have an insert that is visibly wider than the steel shaft (not all bits appear this way), buy a green colored grinding wheel and sharpen the bits 3-4 times before tossing them.

I actually bought these for a somewhat unconventional purpose. I have very rocky clay soil that even skid steer augers with carbide rock bits have trouble with. I needed to drive a bunch of t-posts and manual and gas powered drivers do nothing.

I used these in my Dewalt DCH773Y2 cordless rotary hammer. Drilled the holes to depth and used a manual t-post driver to sink them. Soooo easy and quick. I was afraid the clay would gum up the flights on the bit but it didn’t and it had no problem going through the rock or clay.

The one “German” manufacture who makes these “HIGH QUALITY” steel alloy SDS-Max bits do so and put Milwaukee, Bosch, etc. , brand-names on them. in addition to: “Made in Germany. ” They are exceptionally better tool steel quality than the Chinese bits and last 5-10 times longer than their Chinese counterpart bits that sometimes break or wear-out a few uses.

However, these drill bits from sizes 3/4″ and up are ridiculously expensive and price gouging for the quantity of steel used; but the consumer has no option resulting from lack of competitive makers in the market and low demand for these drill bit products.

Very pleased with the bit I received. So far I have drilled through several feet of very hard bluestone and the bit shows no signs of slowing down. Still as sharp as the day I bought it. Will absolutely buy again when this bit starts showing some wear.

Highly recommend over cheaper bits. You get what you pay for and this bit is well worth the money.

Its not 113 piece set. Its only 5 each piece set.

The core bit does what it is advertised to do but it does not come with the shank as it says and shows. I knew it didn’t come with the centering bit. There is no way to use it in a drill with out purchasing an additional item.

The brick on the house we just purchased is so hard, it just eats up small masonry bits, so I knew I was in for a challenge when I needed to add a dryer vent through it. I didn’t really want to rent one, because I I still need to add a vent for a stove exhaust fan.

It wasn’t super fast through this hard brick, but it was up to the challenge. It is the perfect size to run a 4″ vent pipe through it. It worked great, plus I have it if I or my family ever needs it in the future.

It was a good buy.

Works great to drill through red brick. Only issue is the center bit wouldn’t stay tight.

Haven’t used them yet. Not happy that they were made in China. Yes I’m should NOT use FedX for their delivery. FedX is very unreliable. They dropped off our package at the end of our driveway an eighth of a mile from our house.

It got covered with snow and took a week to find the delivery.

I’m not a contractor but I am an electrician that does many jobs, so these bits should do well for me , a good assortment of lengths and diameters is handy. Ordering was easy and shipping was promt, I would recommend this product , it’s a great price , they are not contractor expensive grade so use them accordingly.

Previously holding on to what I now know is outdated technology (Chuck & key). The SDS Plus design is very easy to use. Bit slippage problems that constantly required re-tightening after only a few tries at drilling are now a thing of the past.

I just purchased this assortment pack recently, so too early to tell how well they will maintain sharpness.

Another great Milwaukee product. Running a 5″ core drill bit to drill thru brick/block walls for dryer vents and other piping, works great, very impressed.

I had my rotary hammer and bits stolen, so I had no bits at all. This is a small assortment, by no means complete, but gets a few of the basic short length bits for a good price.

Purchase a 3/16 Irrwun drill bit with its own storage tube, which makes it easier to find in my assorted collection of loose bits. Very sharp for easy drilling.

The description on Home Depot site indicates it should fit a standard hammer drill but it doesn’t: Description says “3-flat secure grip prevents bit from slipping in chuck” but doesn’t say you have to have (I guess???) a special drill to fit it? There are actually FOUR indentations (not three as advertised) where it goes in the chuck and they are OPPOSITE each other, not in the normal triangle or hexagonal configuration.

So in a normal three-prong hammer drill chuck this won’t fit. I put it in and it wobbles so much the tip of the bit is going more than an inch out of whack on every turn! If you’re going to sell a bit that only fits a certain brand drill, it should say that.

this one just says best for “hammer drill” but I was using a (standard) hammer drill. Sadly I tried drilling with it anyway (unsuccessful) but now I’m guessing it’s scuffed so I might not be able to return it.

After reading up on other reviews, I was a bit apprehensive but well worth the money. Using it on a finished basement to screw down wooden subfloor they worked well. One bit did about 8 holes and was still easy to make holes in finished cement floor.

Did not need to use any coolant on bit. Keep in mind that some concrete particularly in older builds have more aggregate in the mixture (rock and gravel) which might make it harder to drill. I also suggest that you drill to a level then pull the drill out of the cement to remove the shavings which will dull the blade faster.

Also let the bit do the work, no need to strong arm the bit and dull if faster.

The Milwaukee SHOCKWAVE™ Carbide Hammer Drill Bit Kit 7 pc is EXCELLENT! I needed to drill some holes in a stone wall and on brick to cover my stand-up garden. The winds can get pretty bad out here. My Dad has been using Milwaukee tools for as long as I can remember he suggests these concrete drill bits to me.

They come with 7 pc you get (1) 5/32″ (2) 3/16″ (2) 1/4″ (1) 5/16″ and (1) 3/8″. They all come in a sturdy plastic case to store them in even if they get thrown in the toolbox they are easy to find with the red paint through the bit.

I was a bit paranoid to drill through the stone at first mainly because I was afraid I wouldn’t have enough strength to do it. But these bits proved otherwise. I got the job done in a few hours which I thought would take me days to do.

Now that I know I can do my DYI projects on masonry with these excellent drill bits myself! Highly recommend them.

Originally bought a regular 3/4″ x 18 masonry bit before discovered I had bought a hammer drill with a SDS chuck. This one fits and seems to work as intended in the new drill.

I chose this bit because of the “multi-material” label. I had several projects coming up and needed a versatile bit as they were varying surface types (steel, wood, and drywall). I probably should have started with the softest, drywall, but I didn’t Straight to the steel and boy was that a mistake.

I drilled four holes into the steel, barely, but the bit was near useless afterwards. It was only 1/16 inch steel so I felt pretty bad about the durability. I then went on to the wood. It made holes, but not straight or perfectly round.

The steel tore the bit up so much it caused ripping rather than drilling. I didn’t dare use it for the drywall lest I destroy the area I planned to drill. Bottom line: I wouldn’t recommend for any surface harder than wood if you want to use it again.

As a contractor I rely on equipment that’s not “throw away”. So when I recently built a pool deck it was easier to drill in the brackets on the footings we poured. There was 16 footings, and 16 holes required.

It was only the second hole that I was drilling into metal, I looked at the drill bit and it had multiple chips broken out of the bit. The sharp edge of the drill bit dulled really quick and much sooner then expected.

Due to those reasons, I was only able to test drilling metal. I wasn’t able to use the drill bit on any other materials. I had high expectations for this product and was very disappointed.
