I cannot say how happy I am with this dress. It’s truly beautiful. I’ve purchased it to wear to my stepson’s 2nd wedding in Sept. 2022. As the ‘stepmom’, I am more free to choose my attire for which I’m grateful, but I think I’ll fit in nicely without worry of stealing any thunder from either side’s mother.

I will blend, and all without wearing beige! Yay! The dress fit wonderfully, a tough job for a 67 year old, very short & somewhat overweight person. I ordered a 16P and could not be happier. Simple elegant LBD. I’m petite and like to keep things as simple as possible while not totally boring. This is an attractive comfortable after five dress but not too busy. The layers make it a little more interesting than just a plain black sheath, but they’re not overwhelming.

I like to err on the side of looser v tighter and based on some reviews I went up one size. That was a big mistake. It was definitely too big and ruined the whole line of the dress, so I would say buy your normal size.

I ended up returning and ordering my regular size and it fit attractively and totally comfortably, not at all tight.

I ordered 6 different dresses to start my search for a Mother of the Groom dress. This was the first one I tried. My immediate reaction was that this felt like a nightgown, it was so comfortable! Every dress I tried after this just didn’t compare.

I wanted to be comfortable for my son’s wedding, so I could relax and enjoy myself. This dress was perfect for that! I carry extra weight and wanted a lower slit, so had that stitched to about half the height, when I was having the dress hemmed.

The fabric is so soft and drapes beautifully. Shoulders can be worn up or down. I did order a strapless, backless bra to wear with it, for my own comfort and feeling of security (the shoulders were a bit loose on me).

The color is gorgeous (especially with my gray hair), it was so comfortable, and I received a lot of compliments, specifically about the dress. I highly recommend this dress!.

I really love the color. Its a flattering cut. The skirt wraps around so that the you are not fighting an open slit all night. The fabric feels so nice. It says its jersey which I thought was t-shirt material and this is definitely not that.

I have a size 12 dress that I am wearing for the cocktail party the night before that just fits. I wasn’t sure how this would fit so I ordered a 10 in the royal blue and the 12 in the eggplant, mainly because those were the colors available in those sizes.

When they came I was really hoping at least the royal blue one would fit because I really thought I would love that blue. As it turns out the eggplant one in 10 fit! Even though I was able to slip it on without unzipping it, it fits snuggly on the bodice and drapes so nicely on the shoulders.

The 12 fit about the same in the bodice but the shoulders were too big and would have had to be altered. The hem just barely touches the floor and I am ok with that length so I am not going to have to have it altered at all.

The material is really luxurious and the color is really beautiful. It’s not really as dark as an eggplant- It’s more of a deep plum color. The eggplant actually looked better than the blue- I was surprised at that.

I was a little worried about the slit but it is just about 2-3 inches above the knee and that doesn’t bother me at all. It fits well and I am incredibly happy with this purchase. I just hope I have something else in the future I can wear it to.

I bought this dress for a charity gala and and was so thrilled to have such a beautiful dress. When I got home from the evening and was changing out of my dress I stepped on something on the floor. It was several small pearls.

The lining under the lace came a little low for me but if I had a strapless bra that felt secure, I would not have worried about it.

I was looking for a dress to take family photos in and everything I read and saw about this dress seemed like it would fit the bill. I was disappointed with it when I pulled it out of the box, before I even put it on.

First thing I noticed was the length. The sides are longer than the middle so the sides of the dress hit right where they needed to but the middle made me look like I was ready for a flood – not very flattering if you ask me (for reference I am 5’7” and ordered an xl which is my regular size).

The second thing I noticed was the thickness of the material and that it was a little see-through, which seems to be a common theme with maxi dresses lately. Nothing incredibly noticeable but it is there and probably not the best thing for family photos haha.

I was under the impression the dress was a bit thicker than a regular maxi, for whatever reason, so didn’t think this would be a problem when I ordered it. I really wanted to like this dress after all of the stellar reviews I read but it just wasn’t for me.

I saw this online first and went into the store last weekend to try it on. Unfortunately, they only had a size 4 or higher (I’m a 4 usually), and it was too big. It hung weird. So I went to another location last night to try this again and they only had a 0 left on the rack.

I saw this dress online and couldn’t stop thinking about it. I decided to go to the actual store to try it on. I couldn’t decide between a petite or regular size, so I needed to try it on in person. They only had the regular size but it was perfect.

Petite might have been a little too short. It flatters my figure without being too clingy and hides the belly area perfectly. This can be dressed up or down depending on the shoes and accessories which makes it worth buying.

Really pretty dress, but too heavy for the summer but probably nice in the autumn. I’m not used to long black dresses so made me feel a little bit like some kind of goth nun. Sent it back but only because I didn’t feel myself in it, other than that the quality is good and the fit is nice.

This has been my staple dress for almost 20 years. I wear them every single day. even as Pajamas at bedtime. Not kidding. I love them because the fabric is soft and light. The style skims all my bumpy places, yet still looks feminine.

People constantly comment how beautifully I am dressed. They never notice it is the same dress, but in a different color! The only negative about this product is that the buttons are always falling off.

I used to sew them back on, but now I just pin them. By the time the dress’s life is over all the buttons have been replaced by pins. No one seems to ever notice that, either. Anyway, this is a very minor criticism for a wonderfully styled dress that has given me many, many comfortable years.

I am 5 feet tall. There is no longer any such thing as ‘petite’ clothing. I bought this dress in PM. I bought it because I love the color and the print. I have bought others here. It almost came to my ankles, and the armholes are huge, half my bra showed.

I cut about 6 inches off the bottom and hemmed it, and took up the armholes from the top at the shoulder rather than trying to close up at the armpit. This makes it fit better on top. I am used to altering my clothes so I knew what to expect when I bought this dress.

If you don’t mind doing some alterations, it’s a really pretty dress.

Love the comfort and the pockets (every dress should have pockets). I agree with the others that say the armholes are too big! Would have purchased a regular small but it was a bit long for me; over the years I’ve noticed that going up a size in petites usually solves the length for me.

Also, the armholes in the PM were the same size as the regular S, though I still need to wear something over top because the armholes are still too large. Other than that I really like it!!!.

I’ve had my eyes on this dress for many years and I finally decided to go for it. In the many years I’ve been shopping here and giving products most of the time 5-star ratings, this is the first time when it pains me to go for a one star.

Given the other reviews and the fact that I’m 5’7″” I thought it’s best to get a petite so that it’s would not be too long and wiping the floors. That was the first wrong decision. I am usually a size L or XL for dresses and ordered this in M, again due to other reviews mentioning too much fabric.

I’m an hourglass body type but with broad shoulders. The M fit me sort of fine on top but the dress was way too short, as in 3-5 inches too short. So a petite doesn’t work for my height if you want to have it look like in the photo on the model (btw, Soft Surroundings it would be great to put in the description your model’s height and what size she is wearing in the picture as many websites do).

In terms of fit, again given that this was a petite it’s hard to say for sure how the regular size fit would have looked on me but this particular petite M looked awful in each and every way: the fit on the torso was odd, clearly too short but went over my chest fine (I’m a size 38D), the dress was too short and although I didn’t think there was too much material on the bottom it looked absolutely awful overall, just very bad proportions that can’t be saved by anything or any alteration.

I have never seen in my life an uglier shade of brown, it looked like a bad stool on a bad day. At least if the color was a nice deep saturated brown things might have been a little better but really, there is no hope for this dress in my opinion.

The brown doesn’t look even remotely close to the photo. The fabric is borderline o. k. For the price it’s very poor quality, to put it in perspective the fabric quality makes this dress’ value in all honesty closer to $29.

After placing the order, I found out that the dress was dry clean only, and immediately contacted customer service to cancel the order before shipping. They told me that it was already shipped. I really doubted it.

In fact, they only created a label and did not actually send it out at that time. It took many days for the package to be accepted by the carrier, which is already a kind of deception. If there was nothing wrong with the dress, it would be fine for me to keep it.

But in fact, the size is much smaller. Usually I wear size S according to other stores’ size guide. But according to the Petite’s size guide, I should choose size XS. The size guide chart shows that people whose weight is from 111-115lbs (my weight and height falls in this range) and 116-120lbs should choose XS.

As a matter of fact, the size guide is totally misleading! I have never encountered a store with such an inaccurate size guide. Without their size guide, I will definitely choose size S. After I read Petite’s size guide, I changed the size from S to XS.

It was really superfluous and ridiculous. This was my first order from Petite, and it took longer to deliver package than other stores. I didn’t pay attention to the time when I opened the package. As a result, the store wouldn’t let me return or exchange it.

Other stores usually have at least 1-2 months return period, but this store has a much shorter(extremely short) return and exchange period than others. It is very unreasonable. It was unfair for me to spend all that time and money and end up with a dress that was completely unwearable.

The most terrible part is that the attitude of customer service is very bad. They even sarcastically said it was my own problem, and used such discriminatory and insulting words as “unique body” which I felt offended.

I’m sure it’s not my problem, I haven’t had such kind of experience at any other store and their sizes all fit me well. Petite’s customer service never thinks from the customer’s point of view and only finds ways to pass the buck.

Petite is the worst store with the worst service quality I have ever met.

I had a previous version of this LL Bean classic. The skirt used to be between below-the-knee/calf length, depending on your height. I prefer the old longer length. There is not enough overlap of the bodice fronts, not is there enough fabric gathered into the bottom of them.

Unless you are very small busted, bust coverage is a problem. I’m not that modest, but this feels inappropriate for something I was hoping to wear to work. I also wish there was more fabric gathered into the top of the skirt to make it just a little fuller.

I bought this dress in the navy polka-dot print for my trip to Italy this summer. It was perfect for the cathedrals and churches which required modest attire, meaning that shoulders and knees are covered.

I bought the 1x REG size and it fit beautifully. The only possible improvement would have been if it had on-seam pockets. It also worked well being folded for luggage and did not need ironing. The navy polka-dot is classic.

I would have given it fewer stars, but the dress is so comfortable and stylish it makes up a little for this major flaw. I had to adjust the neckline – it was too low for me – just a little stitching to bring it up a little for my comfort.

I purchased this for my granddaughter’s wedding. The dress is a slipover. no buttons or zippers-awesome. Going by their size guide it was a good fit with only the sleeves on the sheer jacket having to be shortened.

A plus to the dress being so simple is I can wear a pretty cardigan over it instead of the sheer jacket so it won’t be stuck in the closet after 1 wear. I just glammed it uo with pearls and crystals for the wedding with silvee sandals.

Saw in boutique and fell in love. TTS for WHBM, but order your WHBM size according to bust/waist size. Fitted in bust and waist, but due to style, it is more forgiving in the hips. The BEST quality dress I have seen in a very long time due to the fabric, fit and detail.

The deal-breaker was the weird pleating right above my bum. it almost had a bustle effect that I can’t quite describe. Once I noticed it, I couldn’t. I had to return it. It looked very silly on me.
