The Dremel 3000 is an excellent Rotary Tool. This does the detail jobs that other machines can’t get to. There is many cool parts to purchase to make a good collection for your small jobs around the home.

My father introduced the Dremel to me at one time. So, I always wanted one as a kit. Very glad that I got this. , Now I find more jobs than before around the house than before. The manuals are very easy to read and comprehend the instructions.

It’s lightweight and perfect for spoon making. It Doesn’t tire your hand. I bought a sanding accessory kit as well to reduce the amount of hand work needed to shape the spoons. I had assorted ball heads from my old dremel to shape the bowl of the spoon.

It could use a longer cord but not a retractable cord which would add too much weight to this light weight tool.

I bought a Dremel 100 years ago, but found the one speed feature a severe limitation. A variable speed Dremel, like the Dremel 3000, is the least expensive one you should consider. (As an example, the rotating wire brush attachment CANNOT even be used safely with a one speed Dremel tool).

Lightweight, speedy, quiet and real fun to use and it really is so versatile and it came with a bunch of very useful bits/attachments! The 3000 is way better than my old cordless model that I cant buy a replacement rechargeable battery for anymore and that cordless never came with any guide attachments or saw attachments, I had to buy those separately, but the 3000 came with EVERYTHING and I can work all day without having to wait for batteries to recharge, which is why I purchased a corded model this time around and I couldn’t be happier.

My only negative is that my cordless has a small front to rear facing slider that was easy to use with your thumb to adjust the speed as you work and it was separate from the on/off switch, which makes it so easy to get just the right speed you need or want as you go, but with the 3000, you have only have about 6 speeds to select from on the same right to left facing switch from off to max, which makes you have to stop working, adjust speeds, begin again, stop, adjust, start, etc.

But, In the two days I’ve had this model, I’ve already used it to sand down the bottom of a couple doors that rubbed and annoyed me in under 1 minute that the cordless couldn’t handle, I polished a brass chandelier last night and cleaned a burr off the shaft on the impeller for my Aquarium filter this morning, now it doesn’t make the grinding noise it had been making for about a month, and I’ve also started doing some fine engraving into a wood sign I’m crafting for the bar in my man-cave.

Great tool, good value. Husband is a retired General Contract so his has the commercial grade Dremel. I am fighting him so this does not migrate to the shop. Using this for Labrador’s nails, super dense like trimming horse hooves.

Vet charges $38. 00 for Dremeling nails, so pays for it’s self in 2 trims. Had the battery pet version died in a year. The low speed of this would be fine for smaller dogs. Highly recommend. Not a loud sounding tool.

Though I never owned a rotary tool before, I decided it was time, and I wanted the Dremel brand, but one that would last for years to come! I did some research, and liked the reviews of the 4000 series, and I wanted one of the kits, that had more attachments, and accessories, and the Dremel 4000 4/36 kit, fit my needs perfectly! I also purchased a flex shaft, in order to do more delicate work! I love the variable speed switch, which is separate switch from the on/off switch, which makes it easier to change speeds, without turning the tool off! I would recommend this to anyone, who demands power, and durability, plus it’s endless versatility, to do a multitude of projects!.

Nifty device that is easily operated and maneuvered, even in smaller hands. The grip has a very nice feel and it is fairly lightweight. Has powerful motor that runs smoothly and quietly. Make sure that any fittings/attachments are properly centered, sometimes it helps to rotate the fitting a bit if the machine is wobbling or vibrating.

The only problematic issue is that the POWER/ON button is directly opposite the UNLOCK button and sometimes when trying to turn the device OFF, you can accidentally squeeze the UNLOCK button while it is running.

(Which wears down the motor and chuck) It would’ve be great to get the same experience with a cordless, but the cord hasn’t been a hassle. The cord is a good length and doesn’t interfere with your work space.

Altogether, it is a great tool for many crafting/hobby projects.

Great tool plus I purchased at rollback pricing that was more that $10 off. I had ordered a similar tool from Amazon that was not a Dremel – had more attachments and was even less money but it was too small for my hand and changing out the attachments was a hassle.

Not with the Dremel. Easy to use, simple to change attachments, good size for both my and my husband’s hand. Many household uses besides crafting. This model comes with a good assortment of tools for most any household use.

Although I haven’t been able to use it much, I am very happy with my new Dremel 2050. It seems to be perfect for working with scale models. I just finished using it to cut a brass part for a T-62 model kit and it worked great.

It’s just the right size for work on scale models. The only down side is the lack of accessories. However that can be solved by the purchase of either a Dremel accessory kit, or the Hart 175 piece rotary tool accessory kit (the Hart kit seems to be the better value).

It probably does not have the power of other Dremel models however, but it’s enough for my needs.

I bought this as a just in case tool to use during my finish carpentry day job. I saw that you could purchase a router bit for the dremel, and I thought “this would make a great emergency tool for standing or routering out random things when I don’t feel like grabbing or don’t have my actual router”.

I also thought it could be useful for cutting a little bit of metal here and there, as well as sanding odd shapes. I was not impressed with the sanding function, and the routering function was completely useless.

I ended up just using a set of hand chisels each time I attempted to use the router bit and attachment with the Dremel. In soft materials, the Dremel would skip and cause tear outs. I can’t speak to much of the other functions of the dremel, I’m sure it’s fine for hobbyists.

But as a professional, this tool does not meet my expectations and certainly does not replace the dedicated tools. I don’t necessarily fault Dremel for this, but just want to alert any other professionals that see dremel tools and maybe consider picking one up for the supposed versatility they offer.

They are versatile, but they are far from capable on an actual job site.

Bought this cordless Dremel to cut out rotten timber from window & door frames prior to repairing them. I use a specialist repair system and the mini handheld tool they supply is very expensive. I decided to get the Dremel because its a proper multi function tool.

I’ve used it on wooden frames and even to cut grout out from tiles. Its brilliant. The charge lasts a good time, the work light is excellent and the tools supplied with the Dremel are comprehensive – I’ve added more already.

Its easy to handle and not heavy. I’m a happy chappy with my Dremel.

Purchased the Dremel 8220-2 45 Piece 12V Li-Ion Multi-Tool Kit 1 x 2. 0Ah a few weeks back and although I don’t agree with organizations requesting reviews almost immediately after purchase – if manufacturers had faith in their product they would wait 6 months to a year to request feedback.

Anyway to break my rule, I purchased the kit to replace an aging JML multi-tool kit which survived well over 10 years doing tiny/small jobs. Having paid quite a bit more money for the Dremel, you can instantly notice the difference in build quality.

The Dremel seems fairly robust (ask me again in 10 years and I’ll confirm) and seems capable of handling the tasks thrown at it – so far I have only used it for detail sanding. My only gripes with the tool are as follows; 1.

The weight of the tool would make me question whether it would be suitable for use in delicate craft like situations; 2. I would question whether the lowest speed setting of 5000 rpm is suitable for craft users or maybe it’s myself not being familiar with the difference in performance between my old kit and the new.

I haven’t rated the Reliability as I do not think I can give a relevant opinion based on a few weeks of ownership.

Dremel tools are super. The Dremel 4000 rotary tool is great this is my second one. My other 1 is in my Dremel router table. I now have 7 Dremel rotary tools. I still have the one I bought when I was a teenager and it still works—50 some years ago.

I have 2 router tables with defferant shape bits,a deill press, a wood wisard for pen blanks, and several for free handed work. The wrench free chucks are great ( I need more ). You can not go wrong if you buy dremel tools.

I have the Dremel muti tool, it is better than other name brands. The double deep blades that dremel makes are great if you need a further reach. The battery powered dremel rotay tools are super. you do not have to run extention cords to do work away from power outlets.

I have used lots of different rotary tools in my work and hobbies. But the dremel 3000 is far the best. It may be more expensive but not by much. But the quality is fantastic. With this kit you get the 225 flexi shaft aswell.

Which makes carving and polishing so easy. Dremel also have a wide varighty of attachments and bits which are quality. The bits last alot longer than the cheap ones out there. I also bought the workstation that turns the dremel into a drill press which compliments it.

Worth 5 stars all the way Screwfix delivered the next day free of charge with an hourly time slot. Fantastic you will not be dissapointed.

If you are wondering, ‘yes’, this is powerful enough for most projects. I’m a DIYer and my Missus makes crafts. I found that this has a very powerful motor, which can be stepped down for delicate jobs.

I used it recently to engrave some wood and to cut a ‘slot’ in a screw cross head (using other Dremel attachments), which worked perfectly and gives you an idea of how powerful it is. I would definitively recommend this set.

To change the attachments you need to press a button and use the small tool, but this is no great hardship and very easy to do. The case is sturdy and has room to put in other extras you might buy.

I have been using this multitool for a few weeks now. The battery charges quickly and holds its charge well during use. I have used it for grinding, cutting and polishing. I have used corded Dremels in the past and find the cordless version easier to move around with, especially if there is no power socket nearby.

The multitool comes in a carry case with a small box of accessories to get started and covered the jobs I wanted to do. The only additional thing that I bought to make life easier was the Dremel 3 jaw multi-chuck.

This allows quick change of all the tool bits and attachments. It would be good if this came with the tool, but doesn’t cost much.

Love this Dremelhas infinite power 35K RPMs if needed and battery life is impressively good! Looking for another battery now, so I can switch them in between charges. Cant beat the deal though would have paid over double in a retail store.

I bought this yesterday to cut out receptacle boxes on a tiled wall. The unit REALLY bogged down with moderate force applied to cutting. That was using a diamond wheel. The armature also became hot quickly.

Almost too hot to handle. All this after cutting out 1 box. Nice kit though. I expected better from Dremel.

Its a great rotary tool. Very quiet, has great power. It was a little bigger than I was use too, but that didn’t take long to overcome. It does everything that I need it to do and more. I highly recommend it to anyone in need of a rotary tool.

The light on it is nice, but did get in my way. It popped right off easily, and goes back on just as easy. Overall I think it is a great tool for the money. If you plan on using a rotary tool much, this is the one you want.

Rember you get what you pay for and this is worth it. I see no reason it wont give me years of service. 5 stars from me!.

This was my first Dremel and it was not what I expected. The first time I used it, the mandrel attachment flew out of the device and broke my main window and yes, it was secured properly. I had to purchase another one out of pocket and the sanding drum was too big for the mandrel.

Very frustrating and NOT what I expected from Dremel.

Bought the one with a nice case and the extra accessories, I was impressed with the case BUT as soon as I tried to use the Dremel tool it’s just completely dead I’ve tried different outlets and it just doesn’t work or even tried other outlets so I’m guessing it’s a bad switch? But a bad switch or whatever is unacceptable for this expensive tool or “premium” as they call it.

This is the second of these tools I have purchased to replace the first one, The first one has been subject to continued use on what at times is almost industrial scale over a 5 year period. Has been used on carbon steel up to 5mm thick, yes five millimetres, stainless steel, aluminium and fibre glass.

There is a knack to using something as small as this. It`s a mere 130 watts so let the tool do the work. Patience don`t rush it. In order to prevent overheating check where you have your second hand.

It will almost certainly be helping steady the tool as it tries to run sideways and your hand will be over the cooling holes. Always move your hand away from these holes. If it gets hot, and it will, give it a rest to cool.

I got this to help ease the pain with my arthritis in my hands; and boy did it do that!! This is so much easier to use with the foot peddle then the standard Dremel. The vibration in the hand unit is all but 97% less then a standard Dremel.

It takes a little practice to control the speeds through the foot peddle, but once you get use to it, you’ll be looking for more reasons to use it. The drive cable is rigid, but not cumbersome. And the noise off the motor is about 25% less then the standard Dremel.

If you have arthritis in your hands and you own a Dremel or like tool, you need to get this!! A bit pricey, but WELL worth it!.

Bought this one a couple of years ago for making jewelry. It works wonderfully. Has variable speeds. Works great on both low and high speed. Never gets hot, like other tools, which according to reviews can get very hot in your hand.

The foot piece makes it easy to control speeds. I would buy it again and again but I don’t think I will need to anytime soon as it seems to be an incredibly reliable tool. Recommend!!!!.

Just got this today and upon opening the unit is dusty. Very dissapointed would prefer to get it from the store but it’s only available online and it is needed right away.

Love this compact versatile tool! I was a jeweler for 20 years having a flex shaft setup at home wasn’t convenient. I’m able to do most of what I did with my flex easily keep it in a drawer or take it with me to use everywhere! Great power! Wish it had more adjustable speeds but I use it for everything without having to dig through use numerous bulky power tools! Love it! I purchased at Lowes not Flowers plus.

Dremel describes the 3000 model as an ‘upgrade of our most popular rotary tool’. I assume they are referring to the Dremel 4000, which we reviewed a couple of years ago. In appearance, the Dremel 3000 still looks very similar to the Dremel 4000.

Both feature the torpedo-style design with a trumpet-shaped nose that provides easy one-handed gripping. One of the nice features of the Dremel rotary tools is how easy they are to handle. The pencil grip is best when you need precise control for drilling, sanding, grinding or cutting tasks, while the golf grip is more suited for less precise, general purpose work.

The Dremel 3000, at 7″ long, is just a bit shorter than the Dremel 4000, yet it weights about 2 ounces more. As well, it comes with a 1. 2 Amp motor rather than the heftier 1. 6 Amp motor on the 4000 – a fairly large decrease of 25% in motor current.

This new motor also delivers slightly less speed – 5,000 to 32,000 RPM versus 5,000 – 35,000 RPM. As with the 4000 model, the motor is equipped with electronic feedback, which provides more consistent power under load.

In use I didn’t notice any appreciable difference in power – the Dremel 3000 made just as quick work cutting, drilling and sanding as the 4000 model. On the Dremel 3000 the power switch has been integrated into the speed switch, with the lever moved to the tail end of the tool.

While the 4000 model had twenty settings on the speed dial, the Dremel 3000 has only ten settings. Each setting increases the speed by roughly 3,000 RPMs. DIYers will probably find it more convenient to have fewer settings to select from.

Also on the tail end you’ll find the hanging hook, which is convenient for suspending the tool if you use the optional flex shaft attachment. (I haven’t seen it for sale at my Canadian Tire. ) The best enhancement to the Dremel 3000 is the EZ Twist nose cap.

With the Dremel 4000 a wrench is used to unlock the collet. The problem has long been that you can’t store the wrench on the tool. It’s somewhat a waste of time to track down the wrench every time you need to change accessories.

And because the wrench is quite small, it’s easy to misplace or loose. The EZ Twist nose cap has the wrench integrated into the cap. You simply unscrew the cap, and then use it to tighten the collet nut.

This is a great feature that all users will surely appreciate. The 3000 ships with a 1/8″ collet, though you can purchase three other collet sizes (1/32″, 1/16″ and 3/32″. ) Maintenance is fairly minimal – approximately every 50 hours of use check the brushes, and replace them when they begin to wear down, or as soon as the tool fails to start, runs intermittently or slower than usual, or if you see more sparking than iusual.

Sold as a pair, brushes cost about $5. Even though the Dremel 3000 has a lower amp rating, is slightly heavier, and has a 4-year rather than a 5-year warranty, I like it more than the 4000 model – primarily because of the EZ Twist cap, which makes accessory changes a snap.

This product does not come with any engraving tips. That is what I bought it for. Luckily I purchased 2 engraving heads separately because the description was not very clear. Overall I really like the product and the case it comes in.

I go through about 4-5 of these each year. As a shell-carver, I use them for work. This model is the most useful to me. However, I’m so sick to death of the inconsistent quality of Drexel. Maybe 1 in 3 will work exactly as it should when it comes out of the box.

The one I just bought is among the other 2/3 — I think, finally, today, I have everything tightened/loosened enough to work at full speed — but I’m pretty sure one of the wires is loose inside. I don’t want to open it up yet.

I’ve gotten some that won’t turn on; others that last 3 weeks and then meltdown — literally melt — like, smoking plastic. But this is, otherwise, a really useful tool.

Its a remake of the first model that Dremel made famous 50+ years ago. Dremel makes a version with every new product release, just renaming it, but it has all the same parts design. The simplest model has the least problems with durability proven over half a century.

Models that have built in speed control tend to overheat the controller, damaging it and its electronics; the longer you use it the more likely it can happen. If you need speed control, get a Chinese copy of a benchtop Staco variac: they are most heavy duty, and more than rated for this tool; it will reduce input voltage and thus, speed, without overheating itself or the drill, and again a simple design, variacs will last a lifetime.

You can also get a triac light dimmer, but variacs are built like tanks. Dremels were designed for fine handcrafting work: modellers, electronics, jewelry etc. , not home furniture, plumbing or motor repairs.

Thus, the power of the original is more than adequate for that.

I bought this last week after dithering for a couple of weeks. I had read reviews on other sites that were not very positive and how the stylo lacked power. I took a gamble and bought one from B and Q.

I use mine to carve the detail in rocking horse heads, mainly these are soft wood, The stylo has been fantastic to work with on the current one I am working on and has been a dream to use. To be sure it doesn’t have the power of B and D power file but for the this role I have found this a great product.

The slimline design has been night and day difference from previous mini drill and extension shaft that I used to use.

Rotary tools like the dremel can be great for small tasks and sanding or polishing parts that can be tough to reach with larger tools. My problem is that with extended use the motor gets very hot and I’ve burnt out 3 of these now.

The more recent ones seem to not last very long even with lighter casual use. I still like rotary tools and use some bits from the kit, but won’t likely buy another Dremel tool.

I purchased this because it was corded, no batteries, plenty of power. It also came with useful accessories and a very practical storage case. The fiber reinforced cutting disks included in the tool kit are very effective and durable.

I have used them to cut through steel bolts. I would buy this model again.

Works like a beast on small projects, great for hobbyists like my self. Does exactly what it states it can do. Being cordless is a bonus, means it can travel with you anywhere. Get yourself a 12V car charger and you can charge on the go.

Easy to operate, charge, & has tonnes of accessories, what else could you want. NOTE only use for light work and on small projects if you want the equipment to last. I build alot of RC cars and planes so its great for what i need.

I bought this to file my dogs nails. I needed something cordless to be more flexible with where I could use it, light and quiet so that the noise didn’t scare my dog. It fits the bill. It would have been perfect if it had a light like an earlier model had (no longer available) AND if the on/off button and speeds were easier to use with the thumb.

It is VERY stiff to turn on and off and change speeds, so I have to leave it on rather than turn it off between each short nail file.

These are great plants but are not sun tolerant – at least not in the temperatures we have been getting this summer in Auckland. They really spread quickly and flower very readily. So they looked great interspersed with mulch.

I also used them on the edge of the garden to stop the soil and mulch from going on to the footpath. Again, very effective.

I have difficulties grasping certain items because of pains in my hands. However, I found this tool to be quite easy to grasp and use. I have several other small tools but I find this one to be the best, especially since I don’t have a lot of heavy weight to move around.

I wish I’d purchased one sooner. A BIG plus is the fact that it’s cordless and when it comes time to charge it, just plug it into a USB socket. Because of its light weight and ease of use, I would most DEFINITELY recommend this Dremel tool.

This Dremel 4000 is even better then I expected for working on lapidary and sterling projects! The capabilities are endless, and using a flex shaft makes even more versatile. I can’t stress enough how much I love this product! Making jewelry pieces, polishing cabs, it does everything I need.

It came with a circle cutter and some other polishing and cutting tools, and excepts everything Dremel makes. Highly recommended to anyone working on such projects!.

This Dremel 3000 had two very small scratches on it, marked in silver marker – it failed the factory inspection for these tiny cosmetic imperfections but was brand new and functions 100%. An absolute bargain! I doubt ALL of the “refurbished” units are only cosmetic flaws, but I’m happy mine was.

The description online did not clarify that it doesn’t include the motor part. Photo is deceptive, as it implies it comes complete with motor part, but when I got it and opened pack, it’s only the drill parts.

so now i have to spend more $$ after buying 4 kits at $30each , very misleading.

I have no trouble with this set. It clearly shows on the packaging that it contains 11 pieces. This set is well worth the money in my opinion

Nice set of carvers and engravers. A bit on the small side, so I must use caution to not lose them. Carry case is good to keep them handy

Very pleased with this purchase. I realised halfway through a job that it would be a lot faster with a small rotary tool of some sort, and after a few minutes I decided on this Dremel. Ordered it online and collected it from my local store.

I was using it 15 minutes later. (It came with around 70% charge). The ideal tool for the job, and I expect to be using it a lot in future. Quite powerful and a useful range of accessories. If you want to use a range of drill bits, it would be worth getting a 3 jaw chuck (Dremmel 4486).

Toolstation don’t stock these – perhaps they might like to consider adding it to the range.

Used dremels with work so thoughtvi knew a good thing. Got this as prefer cordless so can work outside without trailing extension leads Trying to renovate something and it lasts about 10 -15 mins before battery dies.

You do get a second but realistically to use this continuously you need about 4 batteries and 3 chargers. Wished I’d bought a wired version. Cheaper and more useful.
