20 Best Down Pillow For Back Sleepers (2023 Updated)

I read people love this pillow. Search forever for their perfect pillow and this was it. I am not big on joining clubs. But I am joining that one. It is soft, not bulky , not too much pillow, not too much stuffing.

It does flatten down but does leave enough pillow between your head and the mattress. Not a ton. For me the right amount. If you are looking for that. This is your pillow. Thank you Downlite!!!!! I had my trepidation about buying a pillow online, we all do.

I bought my first Downlite three years ago. It changed my life forever!!! My sleep has never been better!!! It so good, I bought a second one about a month ago. I am a picky pillow person. It has to be exactly right for me to like it.

I had previously bought pillows at Ikea, but found the prices just kept going up. The most recent one I bought there was stuffed way too full and I could not use it. Searched the internet and found most down pillows have too many feathers for me.

This pillow is perfect for my neck issues; I am a side sleeper.

I wish the had a weight or volume of filling in the product description. There is definitely not enough filling in these pillows. Basically when you lie your head down on it, it feels like there is no pillow at all.

Should have bought ones from IKEA. I have been sleeping on feather/down pillows all my life, so I know the difference. They should have made just one pillow instead of two.

The pillows are comfortable, but the feathers shift easily and it goes flat. It seems like there should be more stuffing. They’re still much more comfortable than a standard pillow. The pillows came compressed in a very small box.

You’ll need to fluff before use.

At first, I did not like the pillow. I felt it was too firm. After a week I came to love it! I was so accustomed to the previous feather pillow that it took an adjustment period. I like that is is hypoallergenic.

That was the deciding factor along with being 100% down feathers. No crackling from this pillow. It does not aggravate my allergies.

Delighted with Euro 800 Power White Goose Down Pillow. I’m 5-2″ and slight build. Woke up with NO neck pain. The pillow is just enough fill to slightly sink into. Great for side and back sleeper.

I am a side sleeper who sometimes ends up on my back. When laying on my side, I like to have my pillow lift my head to shoulder height. I tried the Serta down illusion pillows individually and 2 stacked together.

Together it was higher than I prefer and alone it was a little lower than I like. My perfect combo was a thin pillow underneath and the Serta illusion pillow on top. Overall the Serta pillow looks thick but is rather cushy.

Your head will sink down but you can still easily move your head around the pillow. I would not describe this as a firm pillow. Some of my firm pillows literally make a thud when you put it on the bed.

And my other film pillows actually hurt my head because they are more of a memory foam and my head gets stuck. So if you are looking for a brick-like, memory foam style pillow, this is not the pillow for you.

However, if you would like a thick but soft pillow, you will enjoy the Serta illusion pillow. Out of the packaging it was ready to go. No chemical smells like some pillows. It has quality stitching and is well made.

This pillow feels like sleeping on a cloud! I am a back sleeper who loves soft, fluffy down alternative pillows that feel like hotel luxury. This pillow is it! It’s so hard for me to find a good pillow.

Most pillows I have tried are too high for my neck and give me headaches. Even other down alternative pillows push my head too high. This pillow feels supportive but doesn’t lift my head. If you like a medium firm pillow, this is not for you.

We were looking for firm pillows to use with softer pillows. we put the firm pillow against the headboard and the softer pillow in front of the firm for support for back and soft for our neck. We were not sure what we were getting as never ordered from this site before.

However, shipment was fast and we have used the product for about two weeks now and really does the job for us. A great Firm pillow!! One thing about the package shipped. it clearly tells you on the outside of box to NOT USE SHARP TOOL TO OPEN BOX! WE ALWAYS READ PACKAGE MARKINGS.

I had great expectations for the pillow, but it’s not as firm as I’d like. After about two nights, the pillow is flat again and it needs to be doubled up. Thought I’d found what I waned, but I’ll need to continue looking.

I purchased this pillow a few years ago and loved it. This one just isn’t as firm. It’s good quality and well made, but not as firm as I would like, and not nearly as firm as the last one, although I ordered the same thing.

I purchased the medium loft pillow. All the filling gets pushed out to the ends of the pillow and there is nothing left under my head. I contacted customer service and they were of no help.

I’ve had neck issues from sleeping for as long as I can remember and I woke up from my first nights sleep with these pillows and my neck felt great. I was shocked. Three weeks later and I’m still happy with them! They do require some adjusting before going to sleep to get the right amount of support.

No biggie for me. They fluff right back up with ease. These are definitely more supportive than the softer down pillow option. So if you’re on the fence about firmness and support go with these. And in regard to smell, they don’t have a chemical spell, more just an earthy/organic hint to them.

Which I would expect to be pretty normal unless you have a pillow protector between the pillow case.

I’m very happy with this pillow. Often down pillows are plush and super-soft, and that’s a nice feel, but too many compress too much, letting my head recline almost to the surface of the mattress. I don’t like the sleeping-flat feeling for my head.

The Coyuchi Down Feather Pillow is has the right combination of softness, but also holds my head up a bit. It’s definitely an excellent purchase.

This product contours around my head and neck without going completely flat. It is firm enough to rest your back while sitting up. The fabric is comfortable with a nice diamond stitching design. I have not felt any pinches from the feathers slipping out.

Gusset siding makes these pillows top notch!.

Love, love, love this pillow! I have only ever purchased down pillows and have never had a good experience with down alternative. Boy, has this pillow changed my opinion. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is a juuuust right pillow.

It is awesome for back sleeping since you sink in for good alignment and pretty good for stomach and side – certainly as good as the medium fill down pillow it is replacing. We will have to see if the synthetic holds up over time, but so far so good.

My son had your Carpenter Beyond pillows that I slept on each time I visited them. I had him send me a picture of the label and went about searching the same pillows. I purchase what I thought was the ones, but unfortunately while they are nice pillows – they are not the ones like he had.

His was a heavier pillow but still very soft. Since the label did not have a number, I had to just take a chance and hope that I got the right one – which I did not. I like the pillows that I bought, but would have preferred the ones like my son had.

I love the pillow because it’s made considerably and with fine fibers comforting neck&head pressure points on my back/side that I was not been able to find out of synthetic pillows for a long time. I do not know for the distance the pillow will do, but sleeping a month does well enough.

I heard about this pillow from a blog I read. After reading reviews, I was so excited about this pillow because it was supposed to be the ultimate pillow for side sleepers. Much to my disappointment, that was not my experience.

Many of the reviews of the extra firm pillow suggested it was too hard so I took my chances with the standard firmness one. To say I have been utterly disappointed would be an understatement. I am giving three stars because I don’t want to judge this product too harshly since I can admit that maybe my expectations were too high.

Part of me wants to believe I just got the wrong firmness for my comfort, but the rationale side of me won’t allow myself to spend another $100 for a pillow just to test out my theory. I can tell the pillow is of high quality and shipping/arrival was much quicker than I expected.

This pillow is surely an upgrade from a typical home store pillow, but definitely not great for people who feel like they need more support under their neck/shoulders while side sleeping.

This isn’t my first down pillow, so my comments are in comparison to my previous experience with other down pillows and specifically a pillow I was very happy with for a long time. 1. ) this pillow stinks, which is probably as a result of the type of duck down used in it.

You’ll want to research this aspect of different types of down before buying to decide if you’ll be OK with this choice. Duck down isn’t necessarily bad compared to goose down, but stinky duck down isn’t a good experience when you’re trying to drift off to sleep.

Seems like a better use would be outerwear for outdoor activities, and not a pillow. I aired out the pillow for a full day outdoors and the smell dissipated somewhat. I still get a whiff of it a couple times a week, and I’m currently airing it out again for the day.

2. ) The description details DO mention that the mid-plush version isn’t all down-filled, but in case you missed that detail, you should know before paying: The label on the mid-plush I received indicates that the inner chamber is 85% feathers (which is not “down”) and the outer chamber is only 15% down.

The down content is labeled minimum 75% down, which I believe is the minimum possible to qualify as “down”. (In other words, of that 15% “down” content, 75% of THAT is “down” (down clusters) and the rest is filler) The product description online isn’t so explicit before you buy it.

This gets into the slightly complex issue of down labeling, but you really want to research the labeling before plunking down a chunk of money on this. This pillow is basically the minimum, and IMO lowest-quality thing you could buy that technically can still be called a down pillow.

3. ) The feather shafts poke through the cover and are prickly. Even good down pillows often include some component of feather fill, so this isn’t unheard of, but this pillow was worse than my previous experience in this regard.

ALL THAT SAID, my previous down pillow was almost $300 and this one obviously is quite a bit cheaper. This seems to be a prime example of “you get what you pay for” and I take it as a lesson learned.

If you’re interested in a down pillow and are disappointed by this one, don’t blame down pillows. IF this pillow costs a lot more than you would normally spend on a pillow from other stores, and represents your first down purchase, do some research first.

You may not be happy with this purchase and rather save up for something nicer, or just buy a non-down pillow and save your money. The sheets and towels are nice here, maybe treat yourself to a plush towel instead.

I am a back and side sleeper, so for years, I have searched for the firmest pillows that would hold their support. I have been interested in down/feather pillows for a long time and decided to try Brooklinen.

I am disappointed with the quality of these pillows. I had them for 6 weeks and I have only spent 2 weeks sleeping on them, and they flatten. I puff them up everyday and sometimes in the middle of the night, but they flatten.

So, I sleep with both stacked on each other. I have pillows that I bought from a department store years ago that are memory foam and those have retained their firmness much better than these. I am tempted to return them, since I am likely to buy new pillows again soon, but I may have to bite the expensive bullet on this.

If you are looking for firm pillows these are not for you or ones that won’t go flat, then these are not for you.

Too much money for a pillow that feels like it will be squished flat to nothing in a matter of months. So disappointed in how soft this supposedly firm pillow is. For this atrociously over-priced pillow, there should be twice the amount of down.

You need to bring back your Company Store good, better, best pillows. Those were reasonably priced and lasted a long time. I bought an entire down comforter for my daughter that cost less than this horrifyingly over-priced junk pillow.

Company Store: you really ought to be ashamed of yourself for reducing your quality and raising your prices. I bought my first pillows and comforters from you in 1991. I thought you were great, but now I see you’re just doing what every other junk company is doing.

I have really enjoyed using the Fieldcrest Luxury Utility Down Medium Support Pillow. I am a stomach sleeper and this pillow works perfectly for me. I sleep comfortably and soundly each night, waking refreshed.

I appreciate that it is made with antimicrobial technology. A very nice added plus to this pillow is that it is made with quality in mind. It is double needle stitched and strong and sturdy. It is machine washable and easy to care for.

This is the first Fieldcrest Luxury product I have owned but I will definitely be a forever customer now. I would recommend this pillow.

I received this pillow the other day and I couldn’t wait to try it out. I have back, next and shoulder pains every morning when I wake up. I have so many pillows and none of them are doing the job to release any pain.

So, I decided to try out this brand of the pillow and I go the firm density pillow. I have to say, so far so good. I woke up the next morning with no neck pain and no should pain so far. I can say that I am very happy with the pillow and will buy another one.

I have been sleeping on this pillow for a few weeks and I love it! This is a medium/firm support pillow and has been wonderful in aiding discomfort as I am a stomach sleeper. It is soft enough to be cozy but offers enough support for my neck.

It is hypoallergenic as well which is a big plus for me. Great pillow and has held up well, no loss of comfort or support. Definitely recommend.

I am a side sleeper and weigh 120 lbs. I have been searching for a pillow that is comfortable and holds it’s shape. The Valletta firm pillow is just what I have been looking for. My sleep has improved because the pillow gives the proper support and feels heavenly.
