20 Best Door Stopper For Heavy Doors (2023 Updated)

I received a pkg of Scotch Door Stops (contained 2 stops) to use and review at no cost to me from 3M. The stops are made of a clear material, I’m not certain if it would be categorized as plastic or vinyl.

The stops are a normal wedge shape and of normal size. The thing that makes these stand out from others I have tried is the fact that they actually work. Most I have tried merely slip out from under the doors due to the slickness of the carpet underneath.

Since the stops are clear you don’t really even notice them which I really like too. I put one under 2 different doors that slam shut when I open the windows and today the doors remained open with no loud bang.

Yay! I really do like the fact that these are clear so there’s no ugly brown rubber wedge sticking out looking tacky.

This two set of clear door stops work fine for their intended purpose. I’m using mine on tile flooring to keep two bathroom doors from slamming shut. I do not like that they are clear. Several guests didn’t notice the door stops and tried to yank the doors off their hinges.

Their literally invisible. I would have preferred a neutral color or just black. While I don’t have a problem with the overall performance, the lack of color is why I am giving a 3 star rating.

I received this product from 3M for free in exchange for my honest opinion. I have used a couple of door stops that I bought in Walmart before, the first one was small and after I opened the package I realized it won’t fit my door, so I had to buy a bigger one and that one worked fine, but it was bulky.

This door stop from 3M is perfect for my door, it does not move once you put it in place, is discrete and the color matches everything. I would suggest anybody interested in buying one to measure the gap between the bottom of your door and the floor, so you are sure this one will work for your door.

This is the only reason I gave 4 stars, the packaging should include the height of the door stop so people can be sure it will fit their door.

Cheap and easy to install. It works. My kid usually flings the office door open like Kramer on Seinfeld and the door knob was smashing into the wall. No more! Well, the dent is still there. Stay tuned for my putty & paint review!.

I’d give it a five but boy, I found it difficult to twist the base off so that I could screw it to the baseboard. Hard on arthritic hands… But, otherwise, easy install, works as intended and they practically last forever!.

Does exactly what it should do. The add bonus when I installed these doorstops was that they were 1/4 in longer than the originals, so more clearance with the wall.

Attractive, strong, and well made. It’s very effective at preventing door swing into your walls. It does require drilling 2 holes into the floor to fully secure it – one for a built-in post and the other for the installation screw – but that’s appropriate for the forces that you expect it to handle.

Well worth the cost and you’ll never have to worry about adjusting it as you do with those foolish door hinge stops. and it is a good deal more attractive. Keep in mind that this must be installed away from normal foot traffic areas.

We ordered this doorstop for our new bedroom laminate floor. The higher rise was perfect, and the doorstop looks more stylish than the old one. It is also perfect for people who have thinner doors and have had holes punched in the doors by the old-style door stops (yours, truly!).

The picture online doesn’t do it justice–looks more expensive than its actual cost. We looked extensively at other sites and Walmart beat the competitors once again. We are re-doing other rooms, so we will be ordering more of these.

I found the Ives FS436 1″ High dome door stop to be of good quality, I used to replace an existing broken door stop. My only issue was that the distance from the mounting peg to the screw mount hole was different by about 1/8″ so i had to drill a new hole in the tile floor to install the new door stop.

This is the perfect door stopper for our deck. It makes people smile when they see it and it keeps our door from getting marked up. I highly recommend this.

I Love, Love this “doorstop. ” Our MBR is off the DR and pool area, too. I like to leave the door open. Problem is with Florida wind gusts it was quite often slamming shut. Until now I had a small boom box holding the door.

It was not only cumbersome (when I needed to close the door or use the hooks on the back of the door), it looked so tacky! The Sailor’s Knot is so easy: pull up by the loop with one hand and close the door.

And it is so cute. At first I felt a little guilty spending that much money on such a whimsical (though practical) item–until my husband commented on how nice it was!!.

Absolutely love this monkey fist rope door stop. Perfectly weighted for keeping the bedroom door open and looks so attractive. This door stop is top quality. the rope is stiff and the handle stands up much better than other rope stops I have looked at.

The price is just right for the size and look of this wonderful nautical décor. I would definitely consider for other doors in my home.

We have an office door that likes to close on its own so we searched for an attractive door stop. We like the look of this rope door stop; but at four pounds, it is not heavy enough for our office door.

Perhaps if we had carpet, the traction created between the carpet and rope would keep the door from closing. However, we have Spanish tile floors and the door stop just slides along the floor from the weight of the door.

If your doors are solid, this probably won’t work for you; but if you have hollow core doors, it should work fine.

Florida living means sliders. We have a large double slider out back to our patio. Two of these Bars are perfect to secure this area. There is lots of adjustment available, so you can get the best fit.

Works exactly as it’s described. The bottom rubber piece does seem a bit slick. But it definitely will do the job.

I would recommend it for purchase to other customers. This security bar is really a great item.

The product markets itself is a large door stop and I just can’t see it. I was looking for a replacement for a garage door which usually has a couple of inches from the bottom of the floor to the door.

I had a few that of course the dog chewed and was looking for a replacement. I should have gone by the picture rather than the description because these are not big door stops they are at best regular size door stops.

The garage door just swings right over them like they don’t exist. Oh well I have other doors that need stops it’s just if you market yourself as big then be big.

Got these for my mom for the bedroom door, and she and I both love how great they function, and as expected. Holds a tight grip for the door. Highly recommend!

Awesome doorstop. Does exactly what we need it to and is easy to remove from carpet too.

This is a terrific product. It is easy to use and holds the door open at any angle. I can push it under the door and pull it back out as many times as I want without scratching the floor,

It has soft rubber so when pressed under a heavy metal door, it smashes down. But it still holds the door open. Great for lightweight wood doors. It is good for the price.

It was to small for my need. It slipped under the door stop. Not strong enough to keep doors open.

Great little door stops and very well made. Unlike metal door stops this one does not leave any scratch marks on my doors! The handle makes it easy to pick up and move if I need to close the door. It is heavy enough to hold the door open (I use these on the standard internal hollow door).

It’s also light enough that if I give it a push with my foot I can move it out of the way to get the door closed. I also very much appreciate its mature and elegant look as most fabrics door stops are animal shaped and perfect for a child’s room.

I plan to buy more for other rooms in my home.

These do the trick and are fairly easy to install. I purchased them for $. 68 each as an add on item, but they have since gone up to $1. 00. The one thing I’m not crazy about is that the spring portion doesn’t actually screw onto anything it’s simply a pressure fit.

I have yet to have one come off, but the first one I put on, I applied a little too much force and bent the spring a little. It’s barely noticeable now.

Worked great. Redesigned, since my last purchase many years ago, so the spring is better attached to the mounting plate and significantly resists sliding off.

This is a well engineered product which is sold at a great price. You can use a longer screw with this—-one that actually goes back into the stud and doesn’t put all the strain of slamming doors on your sheet rock or plaster.

Looks nice, but is not fit for purpose. It isn’t quite 2. 5 kg heavy as stated, but the biggest problen is that it has a totally smooth base, which means the door just slides it across the carpet. If the base was canvas or some material like felt, there would no doubt be enough friction for it to actually keep the door open.

It’s a perfect weight, bigger than I expected but I love it. It’s perfect for when my door slams shut from the wind. The quality is great and the product is beautiful. Matches the theme to my room. It looks exactly like the picture.

These are so stylish, we love to let the fresh air in simply to show these off now. Super reliable to hold the doors during winds but beautifully nestled away and soft to bump little feet on in accidents.

Can’t complain. These inexpensive door stoppers does a decent job in keeping standard doors open. Won’t work if the gap is too high though but does the job for standard doors/gaps.

These are great. the side wings keep hem in place and the don’t slide out of position as did our more narrow doorstops. However, we were in need of 5 sets and they seem to always be out of stock. This has left me to try and get them one set as a time.

I bought 2 Lazy-Boy rocker/recliners for Christmas. They were great except for one thing. They kept creeping back toward the wall. I was afraid the constant movement would damage my carpet. A Lazy-Boy technician said to buy these doorstops from Office Max and use them upside down on the back of the wooden platform strips.

I did! And it solved what could have been an expensive problem. I love when everyday items have unexpected uses!.

Works great. We have a heavy glass and a heavy wood door that bricks have trouble keeping open…this GIANT works great and does its job.

Sexton (church janitor) absolutely loved the Giant Foot Wedge Style Doorstop. Yellow color can be seen from a distance. we were using old planters to prop the door open, but people were stubbing their toes with the planters.

This doorstop is a good size and the rubber ensures that it holds the door in position. My previous doorstop was plastic, and it didn’t work at all. This rubber doorstop is the best!

Holds the door just as I wanted. Great product. I would recommend.

It lives up to its’ name. They were clearancing these as they replaced the SKU with a 2-pack of this size or a larger version of this. It works well. Decently heavy duty. Just in case this isn’t obvious, don’t open the door all the way and then wedge this under it, or you’re going to have to fight it back out.

The idea is to open the door just short of all the way (if you plan on having it “wide open”) so that when you want to remove it, you can open the door that last little bit, pulling it off of the stop.

If you can find these on deep clearance, it’s worth buying a few, I regret only buying one.

Good quality

This is the cutest door wedge that I have seen. The doors in my apt. have such a big space between the door and the floor, so it wasn’t easy finding a door wedge that worked. I was so happy when I received my door wedge.

It had good weight and the way it is made, it could work with any kind of door. I wish I bought more!.

This is cute, but very small and light. It does not hold my door open on hardwood, maybe on carpet? Way to expensive for the quality and size.

We have an all black cat and this door stop reminds me of him. It looks like the cat is squeezing through the space under the door. It is a cute and practical way to keep doors from blowing closed when the windows and doo are open.

It works but would benefit from design improvement. It doesn’t stay planted as good as I had hoped when kicked under a door gap. For money I paid, I fully expected these to be much heavier and not hollowed out.

A simple aggressive friction pattern or medium on the bottoms would greatly improve gripping ability on smooth floors. That being said, my choice was this or a rubber sanding block.

Be advised, this product is made from a hard rubber that’s essentially a hard plastic. I was expecting a soft rubber that had some flex to it. For me it just needed to keep the door ajar so my cats can get to the room with the litter boxes and it is sufficient for that purpose but the door never really gets secure over the wedge.

The angle of the wedge is too steep and the rubber is too hard to get a proper grip. It doesn’t grip the floor either.

The last time I found one of these giant rubber doorstops was at a local going-out-of business hardware store over 10 years ago. So glad I can now get them at Office Depot. Works great on doors where there is no carpet and the gap from floor to underside of door is wider.

Holds up very well, durable. Does a good job at keeping doors shut, especially when a heavy breeze tries to slam doors shut. Highly recommend!.
