A dent puller is a specialized tool that is used to remove large dents from surfaces. The most common type of dent puller is a suction cup dent puller, which uses a suction cup to attach to the dent and then pulls the dent out.

We received a slide hammer that had defects in the slide weight. There were several voids in the slide weight and there were some large holes. We returned the entire assembly for credit. I’m fighting with customer service because they’re telling me that only a partial credit can be issued.
WHY??? This is a defect and we should not be charged for a defective product. I’ve attached photos which were also sent. We are looking for full credit on this slide hammer, or a complete replacement.
Either way is fine. However, a partial credit is not acceptable.
A COUPLE OF THE PCS. ARE UNKNOWN TO ME FOR PULLING OUT A DENT IN A FENDER BUT THIS PC. OF EQUIPMENT IS RIGHT FOR THE JOB AND THE PRICE WAS MORE THAN FAIR BEING AS I COULDN’T RENT ONE ANY WHERE IN AUSTIN.

Slide and hammer appear to be good quality, but as others have noted, it did not come with anything else. Which makes it as useful as a boat anchor. It came wrapped only in plastic which may explain why components get separated.
I’ll exchange it and hope I get everything, as it looks well made.

Great for Mobile Repair Operations! Pull soft dents from body panels quickly and effortlessly with the Uni-Vac Dent Puller without requiring a connection to an air line. This dent puller is great for professional use and it comes with three vacuum cups of different sizes (3″ 4″ and 5″) and a durable storage case.
The Uni-Vac Dent Puller works on steel or aluminum panels and also bumpers. It makes dent repair jobs easy and is a useful addition to the garage of DIY enthusiasts who prefer to undertake minor dent repair jobs on their own.
This dent puller creates suction with a hand pump that is built into the handle. With three different suction head sizes you can use the one that suits your dent repair job. It works great for mobile repair operations.
Using the dent puller you can keep your car in good condition by correcting dents using its vacuum-operated suction method. This quality machined dent puller deploys advanced technology and knows just how to restore your car to looking as good as new.
How to Use the Uni-Vac Dent Puller Choose a cup size that offers the right coverage on the dent. Securely seal the vacuum cup to the base of the tool. Tighten the cup properly so that there is no leakage and it is ready for use.
Press down firmly on the dent and tighten the air pressure valve on the handle. Push down the vacuum pump on the top of the handle till the red line disappears to establish a proper vacuum. Use the slide hammer to make the pull and that will correct the dent.
They’re good, did the trick and helped pull out my door. THE ONLY PROBLEM is the actual suction cup. The design and everything is spot on, the suction cups are too thin. They need to be thicker like your traditional windshield glass puller cups.
The thin suction cup design allows it to slide and compress on itself as you’re pulling a panel and more often than not you’re not getting enough holding power and just ripping at the suction cup and not the metal.
Everything about this design is perfect, you just need to make the cups thicker and more rigid so they don’t pull off your contact point so easily. Create and sell an “upgraded” set of cups and I’ll buy em hands down.
One thing I was thinking about was where do you buy replacement suction cups when the cups go bad as there not going to last forever, the tool might but not the cups I just wish the cups were a little thicker for more power pulling dents out.
As a bathroom plunger does the same thing as that is what I used to use years ago until I seen this tool and thought I would give it a try and it actually does work but where do you buy the cups for it, as right now there is no place to get them that I can find as right now when all the cups are bad you might as well throw the tool away as well.
Seems like a sturdy quality time. It just depends on the dent, I got a couple out all the way, others not so much. After a couple uses the cups come off after one or to slides. I am not hitting that hard either.

Have wanted a slide hammer for several projects in the past but due to cost, have forgone buying one. I was finally able to justify purchasing a slide hammer due to the relatively low cost of the subject slide hammer.
Used the slide hammer to remove a crank seal on my motorcycle engine without having to split the crankcase. This saved me a lot of time and effort on my project. The slide hammer, utilizing the screw tip provided, made short work of removing the seal.
I am pleased with the quality of the product and its performance and look forward to utilizing it in future applications.
The description said 5 lb slide weigh and 10 total weight. Actually 2 lb slide weight and 4 lbs total weight. The nut securing the handle is very thin and fits loosely. The handle came off after about 10 blows.
Fortunately I had a nut with 3x the thread length to replace it. After that it worked fine. The attachments seem sturdy enough. It was OK for a one time job, but is clearly not a tool to stand up to much use.
This tool weight is 5 pounds total, when measuring a slide hammer the weight is measured on the slide only not the whole tool so this is a 2-1/2 pound slide hammer not a 5 pounder, I should have been more careful ordering, the slide is hollow so It doesn’t get a firm hit, the energy is absorbed into the hollow slide not so much the part you pull, would be OK for a light pull but not where you need a 5 pound hammer.

It got the job done. This proved heavy enough to pull some metal plugs I needed to pull out. Also the comfort of the handles made the job easier. Dealing with the screw that comes with it is a little cumbersome, but once properly attached, it works well.
This is not an item I will use often, but I am glad to have it in my tool chest.
This dent repair kit has everything you need to repair auto body dings and dents. The stud welder features high power, yet low heat transformer to help get out dents cleanly every time. The D handle design makes the stud welder easy to maneuver and manage for less user fatigue so you can work longer.
As with using any welding equipment make sure the metal surface to be welded is completely stripped of all paint and primer. You need a clean metal surface for the arc to weld the stud in place properly.
An improperly grounded or bad arc (due to paint or primer) will cause the stud to weld insufficiently (if at all) and will likely pull off the metal panel when using the supplied slide hammer. Be sure to wear the proper eye protection and I would recommend using a welding helmet if you have one available.
I used the stud welder on a car project that has an 18 gauge cold rolled steel panel. I used the larger studs that were included in the purchase. Be sure to check and make sure you are using the correct tip for the required diameter stud.
I found that the studs welded very well to the panel when the welding button was pressed for about 2. 5 to 3 seconds and the gun securely pressed against the metal surface to complete the circuit (ground).
The supplied slide hammer worked great for me. Be sure once you have the slide hammer attached to the stud that you maintain a positive pull pressure on the slide hammer handle the whole time while using.
Sometimes it may be difficult for the slide hammer to release the stud. I found that if you gently slide the hammer forward towards to work panel, the slide hammer will release the stud. Basically you will tap the hammer in the opposite direction to release the stud.
I was able to successfully remove a 5 inch long by 2 inch wide by 1/2 inch deep dent from a lower rocker panel that must have encountered some curb rash back in the day. As with any tool, do your research, watch some videos or get some help from someone who can give you guidance on how to properly use the tool.
I personally would recommend this stud welder to my friends and foes. Have fun and get some! I should have made a video. Next time.
The stud welder works great. I have neve used one before and found it extremely simple without looking at any of the literature. I am so glad I bought this tool, makes pulling even small dents a snap.
The package had been opened and one of the 100 pk of studs was missing, not Harbor Freight’s fault but the incredible amount of dishonest people in our society. The only bad review I have is the slide hammer.
After awhile I did figure out the technique. The head of the slide hammer has a small serrated wheel with a hole that is slightly off center by design. It grips the stud on an upward motion, you then have to push the head of the slide hammer back downward for it to release.
Although it does work, I would have preferred a compression clamping force around the stud so that I wasn’t pushing the dent back down inward. For the price though, you cannot complain about this kit.
Bought it to remove dents in ’67 chevy pickup. This was my first experience with a stud welder, but after watching a short YouTube video on how to use it, I experienced a steep learning curve and felt very comfortable within 10 to 15 studs.
Forget all the safety equipment recommended by the instruction booklet (welding helmet, leather gloves, etc)—not necessary. I have an arc welder and thus all the recommended equipment (which I wore on the first few studs), but experienced virtually no blinding flashes as I had anticipated.
If you use the stud gun as instructed, and simply look away as you push the “pickle button” (instructions call it the trigger—but you push it with your thumb), you’ll have no issues. The key instruction to follow is to activate the pickle button for only a half second or so—any more and you will weld the stud to the body too securely which leaves a small hole when you pull the stud.

With this kit you get more then one choice of fitment to use and would work on numerous of things i use this to repair my dads car and it worked a treat I made some pegs to fit onto the sliding hammer using the step down adaptor this made it easy to weld the pegs to the car so the tool can be screwed and unscrew where needed when pulling So quick and easy to pull dents out with the slide of the hammer 3 or 4 pulls in each spot that is all it needed! This tool can be used in meany ways weather its around the house or on a vehicle with the different adaptors its as quick as screw and unscrew to change the heads you want to use to pull and can accept self made parts as well Altho this is a lot cheaper then others out there on amazon and ebay this works just as good and would recommend to any one looking to get the job done 1st time.
My 18 year old son , who had just bought his first car, had it reversed into while on the drive of our home. The person responsible did not report it and drove off. I bought the dent puller to attempt to do the repair myself.
It worked a treat and pulled out the crease in the bodywork. It was easy to use and even though it was a crease rather than a dent it made the repair a lot easier and saved him an expensive body shop repair bill.
A really good useful tool for the car enthusiast for pulling out dents prior to filling. I pulled out a big dent in my car door that only required a small amount of filler to finish off. This tool is bigger and heavier than the images portray and is well up to doing many jobs.
Yeah there are better on the market but at least twice the price. This is a good addition to the tool box for amateur car enthusiasts.
Bought this product as a last resort, my vehicle is contract leased and was due to be given back after very short notice. My car had a dent near the headlight, I was quoted £240 to get it removed or £155 from the car leasing company direct.
After reading the mixed reviews I was skeptical but decided to go ahead and buy this gadget for £12. 99. The night before it was due to go back I decided to give it a go but wasn’t very hopeful. I was at the petrol station and thought “let me just give it a go”, stuck it on and pulled ever so slightly and heard the dent come out! I was very shocked but best decision ever.
Didn’t even need the hot water!! If I could attach the before and after I would. Brilliant product and will definitely keep it with me incase it’s needed for my next car!.
Bought on a whim for a big dent in the side of my car, didn’t even use boiling water just went ahead and tried it out to see what the suction was like. Very strong for such a little thing, very very happy with the result, only took 10 minutes- obviously not perfect (can’t get rid of a more minor dent) but for £12 pretty great, wish i could attach pics.
Bought this product after denting my car recently, was unsure whether these suction cups actually work or not but was pleasantly surprised! big shoutout to the woman who helped me find the product today whose name I unfortunately didn’t catch – it worked alot better than ever expected.
Would recommend to anyone who has a small-med dent in their car, pulled out in seconds.
Repair dents and dings from the comfort of your own garage with this crossbar dent repair kit. The dent repair kit includes a glue gun, dent lifters, crossbar with wing nut, adhesive sticks, release agent and finishing tool.
I used this to pull transmission fluid out through the dipstick tube on a Jeep (KJ) Liberty CRD. Jeep/Chrysler was too cheap to put a drain plug on the transmission pan so the prospect of doing a “drain and fill” by pulling fluid up through the dipstick was very alluring.
The red tubing that comes with the pump was long enough but it was struggling to perform my particular extraction application. With one adjustment I was holding a 5 star tool. I took some CLEAR tubing from my local hardware store (bulk rolls cut to spec, inexpensive) that was “one-size smaller” than the red tubing.
What I mean is that the outer diameter of the clear tubing fits snugly inside of the red tubing. (You could take an unused red tube into the hardware store and leave knowing you have the right size).
I slid the clear tube into the red tube an inch or more and had a nice, airtight seal effectively giving me one really long tube. The inner diameter of my clear tube is (I think) 1/4″ and it did not take more than a few minutes to pump out 3 quarts of fluid.
Seeing the fluid moving through the clear tubing is also a good confidence booster when you have first started pumping. The clear tube is also stronger than the red tube in the sense that it requires more pressure to collapse inward under the pressure created by pumping.
I think this is a key feature of its success. The clear tube held its shape the entire time whereas the red portion of my “one long tube” pinched down on itself in a few places once I was getting toward the end of the extraction.
*Both tubes were measured against my transmission dipstick before insertion, both tubes went the same distance (about 37″) down the dipstick tube, until they would “bottomed-out” and would go no further, which was consistent with the measured length of my transmission’s dipstick.
*I was pumping the old fluid into a lemonade/kool-aid type of plastic pitcher from my local dollar store. It was a very handy $1 addition for the job. It holds over a gallon and has markings for pints and quarts (that I verified were about right ahead of time) so I automatically knew how much fluid I needed to add back into the transmission.
This puller does work, however it does not work that well, especially for bearings that are more stuck to the shaft. Mine did not seem to have a very linear pull and kept working one side then the other side.
The casting itself is ok, but the lips started to shear on mine and the bolts even bent when I attempted to pull a bearing that was stuck on the shaft (ended up getting of with the HF 3 jaw puller, not ideal when that can outdo a dedicated bearing puller like this).
The other minor item of note is that they should have used the same size head for both the clamping nuts and the threaded puller screw. Just one of the small notes. I ended up returning this set, I wish I could have kept it as my father had an earlier set from harbor freight and the quality of that seemed to be better in the casting.
I did not get a replacement from harbor freight but will be willing to try it out in the future if they can improve their quality slightly. Overall I would only recommend this for bearings that are relatively easily removed, in which case a 3 jaw seemed to work just fine for me.
It could be helpful to have for use in situations where space is limiting for attaching the puller. I was underwhelmed in this puller’s fit and function and hope that future iterations will see improvement.
I bought the Multi-Use Transfer Pump from Harbar Freight because my old pump broke. The old pump cost more than the one from HF and was a screw onto the bottle, then pump, identical to that of a hand sanitizer pump.
I only used the old pump 2X before it broke. Don’t remember the brand but stay away from screw on top of bottle pump, it takes too long and not worth the price. Well enough of the old pump. The one from HF Multi-Use Transfer Pump (item #63144, price at time $6.
99) is a lot sturdier, stronger, faster, cheaper, and easier to use. I chose this product based on reviews and price. I used it to pump oil into my AWD transfer case and rear differential. With the tool from HF it only took a couple minutes to fill the fluid in both location.
It was easy to use and also stronger, sucking the bottle walls in. Oh I had to drill a hole on top of the bottle cap so I could insert the tube through the cap inside the bottle. It moved a lot a fluid at a time, in my case.
I would recommend this product for those who are filling small to moderate amounts of fluid. The only downside is that a lot of fluid will be in the hose afterward and needs to be flush out. I guess I could shorten the tube to prevent large amount of fluid inside the line.
There are a few different ways to remove large dents from cars, but the most common is to use a dent puller. This tool is designed to grip the dent and pull it out from the inside.
Dent pullers come in a variety of sizes and shapes, so it’s important to choose the right one for the job. For large dents, a suction cup dent puller is usually the best option. These devices work by attaching themselves to the dent and then using a lever to pull the dent out.
Another option for removing large dents is to use a plunger. This tool works in a similar way to a suction cup dent puller, but instead of using a lever, you push and pull the plunger up and down to remove the dent.
Once the dent is removed, you can then use a filler to repair the damage. This will help to restore the original shape of the car and make it look like new again.
