A deli slicer for home use is a device used to slice deli meats such as ham, turkey, and roast beef. It is similar to a food processor in that it has a cylindrical blade that rotates to slice the meat.
However, deli slicers typically have a wider blade than food processors, and they often have a built-in meat guard to keep fingers away from the blade. Deli slicers can be electric or manual, and they range in price from around $30 to $200.

This knife was bought to cut cakebread. It is more than I expected as I find it easy to use to cut watermelon andor melon in general. Its very sharp and easy to graze your fingers so just a word of warning as I have grazed my fingers numerous times since owning this knife.
In order to keep it in its best condition, I typically wash it immediately after using and dry then put back into drawer. I havent owned it very long so I cant give it five starts and will update this review once I have it a few more months.

I had a salad shooter before and loved it. Certain parts were lost in a move so I’m pleased to have gotten a replacement. I do wish that it had an additional slicer for a slightly thicker slice for cooking but this one works great for salads and even veggies in soups.
Pleased to have a salad shooter again. It’s lightweight and compact for easy storage in my already packed kitchen cupboards.
Chops nuts, grates chocolate, even makes bread and cracker crumbs; Just point and shoot right where you want – Slice or shred vegetables, fruits, and cheese for delicious salads, soups, tacos, pizzas, desserts, and much more – Inlcudes four interchangeable cones for making regular slices, thick slices, ripple cuts, and shreds-plus a handy funnel guide – Easy cleanup; Base wipes clean, everything else is dishwasher safe – Makes regular slices for salads, thick slices for apple pie, shreds potatoes for hashbrowns and cheese for pizza.
Ive owned one that lasted years before replacing. I enjoy using it for slicing/shredding hard vegetables so when my 2nd one played out i knew Id be replacing it. I decided to upgrade to the pro model.
And, I like it even more! It holds bigger potatoes and larger cabbage wedges. Works harder than the smaller units I owned. If you find prepping some vegetables difficult, this Pro Salad Shooter powers right through the job and gets you cooking quicker and happier! No sore hands!.
I used to have a SaladShooter years ago, but it got lost in a move (along with the discs for my KitchenAid 670), so I’ve been slicing, shredding and grating stuff by hand for the last few years. Well, I finally got sick and tired of skinning my fingers on the box grater, and ordered the Pro SaladShooter.
It’s even better than my old one, and I’ve already used it to make hash brown potatoes, crinkle cut cucumbers for bread & butter pickles, and now that zucchini season is upon us, I will be grating a TON of zucchini for zucchini bread and other zucchini delicacies.
It’s small enough to fit easily in a cabinet. The only thing they could do better is to have some kind of storage caddy for all the cones. I’m using a fabric draw-tie bag that came with an insulated water bottle, and they all fit perfectly.
We eat salad practically every day and our old hand grater/slicer was getting increasingly more difficult to use. We have had this little gem about a week and use it every day for various dishes. It works perfect, is very easy to handle and clean up.
Since it is white, it does stain easily though, carrots especially stain it, But, I learned to put a little Clorox in the soapy wash water and with a little extra scrubbing, stains are gone and it looks like new again.
I like my fried potatoes sliced a little thicker than the thick slicer cone which comes with the machine makes them. So I would buy a little thicker slicing blade IF they made one for it. That is the only negative I find with the Salad Shooter, however that is only my personal preference.
All in all it suits our needs to a “T” and I will definitely recommend it to all of my friends.

I have always used wire cheese slicers. This one is leaps and bounds above the cheaper ones. The wire feels tight and sturdy, like it won’t relax and bend after three uses. I’ve used mine for a couple of weeks and love it.
I have small hands, and this is easy to use. It also lies flat in a drawer. The OXO one works well, but it’s too bulky for my hand and takes up more drawer space. It’s hand wash only, but that’s easy.
Solidly built and seems like it will last a long time. Love it! I’m buying one for each of our daughters!.
Look no further! This is the best cheese slicer I have had so far. Perfect thin slices. I keep mine inside the fridge right beside the block of cheese and no discoloration or rusting so far. Still works like it is new and I had it for almost 4 months now.
I love the metal build of this cheese slicer. I’ve had other ones with plastic components, which would break and snap. This one is solid and has a good feel when slicing. The slices can be thick or thin, depending on the angle of the slice.
Even if it does wear down a break, I think I would get another.
This natural beechwood cheese slicer, with built-in stylish black arm and handle grip, is ideal for everyday kitchen use. The stainless steel cutting wire sinks easily into even the hardest cheese, to a perfect slice, thick or thin, every time.
As with all of our cheese slicers, the wire is replaceable and has a lifetime against breakage. Board measures 7” x 4¾”, has non-slip rubber feet.
Very nice wood base, but the slicer mechanism itself is a bit flimsy. In particular, it has no resistance and therefore flops around. My “fix” was to jam a toothpick into the hole containing the swivel part of the cutter bar, but that won’t last.
I did. And it was easy with this cheese slicer. I’ve had a couple over the years and the cutting wire has always been an issue. This one is different. The wire seems very sturdy but if it fails, the company promises a free replacement.
Bought it because my hand held adjustable cheeze slicer didn’t last more than 1 week. This product does well & I use it daily – has been more than a month & still going strong. Soft or hard cheezes – does well.
Having the immoveable feet really help on the harder cheezes. Did notice when researching on this site before I ordered – that another had trouble keeping it clean. I just flip it over to get any crumbs out of the wire trough, rinse then dry after each use.
doesn’t seem to be a problem for me. Also on another comment. on the harder cheezes I just go a little slower for the wire to catch up through the mass. The wire does move sideways a tiny bit. but I’m not fussy – I don’t have to have exact sizing.
I’m not doing rocket science here. just needs to be thin to go onto bread for my cheese bread with fruit breakfast.
It is heavy duty and very sharp. Looks good and has a wrap that keeps it closed when not in use. My disappointment is that the egg sticks to the blades doesn’t come off without using a brush. I have only used it 3 times cutting up about a10 eggs, but in every case, the bits of egg stick to the blades and makes it more of a chore to clean.

Don’t hesitate on this amazing Mercer knife value, just get yourself one either in the 8″ or 10″ blade design before they are no longer available. No frills here, just a razor-sharp beautifully-balanced blade with ultra-comfortable ergonomic handle.
We already owned multiple excellent-quality chef’s knives including the iconic Shun Kaji 8″ blade, an antique Dexter w/ 12″ blade in mint condition and several others (Henckels, Wusthoff, etc) accumulated over several decades of cooking in New Orleans where everyone considers himself/herself a foodie.
This is unquestionably the best chef’s knife you will ever buy for under $20 and I ended up getting the 8″ version for my wife and daughters. That’s because the 10-inch is MINE until they pry it from my cold, lifeless fingers! LOL.
I’ve recently started baking bread at home. The bread knife I had was not doing it’s bread slicing job. After shopping around the internet for bread knives, I ordered this one from Sam’s. seemed a good length.
Great price. Now, having used it many times over the last few weeks, I can say this knife exceeds expectations. By a lot. It’s sharp. It glides through the warm bread cleanly. It’s well balanced. Feels good in the hand.
I work part time as a Sous Chef at a wedding/event facility. Worked in a kitchen either full time or part time since high school (I’m now 45) and this is Excellent knife, The Chef De Cuisine I work for has told me if I leave it at facility it becomes “the Kitchen’s” knife and therefore his.
It will slice through watermelons, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, potatoes by the pounds without a hiccup. Just hone the edge when done and ready for next day! I do have 2 sets of Shun knives (Classic set stays at home and Sora Set travels in roll to facility) this knife is right at home next to them, besides I am not spending over $200 on a hand crafted 10″ Shun.
I am ordering the 12″ big brother to this knife this week.
Most food preparation involves a lot of slicing, why not make it easy and use the Ceramic Double-Edged Slicer from Kyocera. It’s easy, does perfect slices and saves you time. Ideal for everyday use and especially for fruits and vegetables, this Slicer features an ultra-sharp double-edged ceramic blade.
With the assistance of hand guard to hold food securely and protect your fingers, your food will glide effortlessly through the sharp, angled ceramic blade- perfect for capsicum, cabbage, carrots, cucumber, onions, potatoes and more.
The Ceramic Double-Edged Slicer features corner notches to fit the slicer on top of bowls, making the process even easier and mess-free. Can be easily stored away thanks to the hang hold built into the handle and it is dishwasher safe.
Kyocera Ceramic blades are ultra-sharp, durable and won’t rust or brown foods. Ceramic is a material close in hardness to diamond with rock-like edge that will not roll like steel blades. The result is a razor sharp blade that will retain its original sharpness more than 10 times longer than steel blades and will not transfer metal ions to food, nor corrode from acids or oils in fruits and vegetables.
The paring knife and peeler combo is my second set. Really handy and works VERY well. The individual peeler was PRECISELY what I expected. KUDOS!!! I have yet to use the “Mandolin” slicer but I am positive it will be a great kitchen tool.
I have been using a Kyocera ceramic julienne mandoline for many years. I bought this one as a backup even though my first one still works great. The pieces that it creates are small. I use it mostly for carrots and radishes when I want finer pieces in my salad.
I’m not sure why they have “Wide” in the name of the product.
Simple to use and easy to clean and store. The finger guard is only moderately useful with softer foods the teeth of the guard can sink into. A week into using the mandoline, I sliced off the top edge of my thumb.
A friend recommends using cut-resistant gloves, but I’ll probably just try to be more careful.
Compared to usual devices that work with wire, the Fromarex also cuts hard sausage, parmesan cheese, ham, paprika, cucumber, radish, iceberg lettuce etc. with its blade. With scale for setting the desired cutting thickness.
I was searching for an alternative to wire-based (marble) cheese slicers because the wire was breaking relatively often (twice a year) and replacement wires are not easy to find. This cheese slicer was exactly what we were looking for.
We’re primarily using it to cut hard cheddar cheese (think large blocks of Tillamook sharp cheddar from Costco. ) The cheese slicer is very reasonably priced, easy to use and slices perfectly – slices don’t break or crumble, at least with the cheddar cheese we’ve been slicing.
And it’s also easy to adjust the slice width. The slicer has black rubber slide proof things on the bottom, so didn’t move around as I sliced. So far I’ve only used it a few times, but the results were so great I had to write this review.
The Westmark Fromarex Cheese Slicer is absolutely wonderful in so many ways: 1. We appreciate that the slice thickness is adjustable, and the guests seem to LOVE slicing their own (as they choose their thickness measurement)! 2.
Easy to clean (by hand) 3. Wonderful Conversation piece, and a big hit at gatherings 4. Have already purchased some as gifts! It works beautifully with the aged white cheddar cheese from Vermont (our favorite) as well as many of the European firm cheese.
Modern nylon and patented Fibrox handle is hygienic, dishwasher safe, slip-resistant and NSF approved. The handle is ergonomically designed to help minimize tension at the wrist and provides a much more comfortable grip than rosewood handles.
A slicer serves a similar function to a carving knife, although it is generally longer and narrower. Slicers are often more flexible and as such are better suited for slicing ham or fish. High carbon stainless steel blades are hand finished in Switzerland by skilled craftsmen.
These blades do not discolor or stain. These knives are specially ground and tempered so that they can be re-sharpened over and over again, keeping a sharp edge throughout their lifetime. Each Victorinox knife is stamped from a single sheet of metal.
The blade is then hardened, tempered, ground down, polished, etched and finished. Swiss Army Victorinox provides professionals in food processing and preparation with superior quality, value-priced cutlery that enhances performance and increases productivity.
Although technically a pastry knife I bought this as a bread knife having seen it on a bread making channel I watch. Absolutely delighted with it. It cuts through delicate croissants like butter and slices through crusty sourdoughs with ease.
Measures: 5” x 5” x. 75” / 13cm x 13cm x 2cm After using this cheese slicer, pre-sliced cheese from grocery stores will be a thing of the past! Easily adjusts for thick or thin slices depending on your preference.
Consistently cut evenly and easily every time! Perfect for parties when serving cheese platters or sandwiches for lunch. Includes extra stainless steel cutting wire. Made of heavy duty zinc alloy. Hand washing recommended.

This wire slicer does a great job cutting cheese from blocks at various thicknesses. However, the cutting wire assembly that is doing that great job can pop out and need to be replaced. However, there’s a trick to making it last much longer.
At first glance it looks like it doesn’t matter which way you hold this slicer. However, if you hold it the “right” way the cutting wire will last longer. That right way is to cut with the screws which hold the cutting wire in place facing up.
That way you’re not pulling the wire from its brass ends with each slice. That said, the slicer comes with a replacement wire.
Just what I was looking for! It’s very sturdy! And comes with an extra wire which is useful! I’ve gone through many cheese slicers over the years, and this one feel strong and over all well made! We will see when I have to change the wire, with other ones I’ve owned I couldn’t change the wire and had to buy new ones every time it got loose.
I’m very happy I purchased this. I would encourage you to buy this if you don’t want to buy a cheese slicer board this is compact, sturdy, storable.
This slicer is so much better than my old one. The one it replaced lasted 10 years and finally fell apart. It was the type with 1 adjustment in the center above the handle and the roller was plastic.
The plastic roller broke off. The new one is all stainless including the roller. Its heavier and has 2 adjusters on the outer ends. It feels better built and works better. The slices of cheese stay a consistent thickness now.
It appears this one will last as long if not longer because of the build quality.

I bought this mandoline to make it easier cutting sweet potatoes, and liked the other features. I was able to cut sweet potatoes for my hash brown recipe. Although, because of the prongs in the hand guard to secure the vegetable, I can only cut down so far, then I have to cut the rest by hand or waste a fair bit of the potato.
Overall it cuts well. Cleaning food out of some of the parts can be a little challenging. I was looking forward to making waffle fries, but I could not get those to come out right. Using it requires a bit of effort so when my arthritis is bothering me I have to forego using the mandoline.
I purchased this several years ago from BB&B (still have my receipt). Use it about once or twice a year. When I went to use it during Xmas 2021, the knob towards the top (with the numbers) came off and the screw can not be repositioned.
I contacted the manufacturer who said it cannot be fixed once the knob comes out, The BB&B website states that there is a lifetime warranty. This was an expensive item and given the few times I’ve used this mandoline, this shouldn’t have happened.
At the very least, the company should replace the item. I would not recommend this product.
This salami slicer was designed to give quick and precise cuts of salami. The unique design of the blade allows for effortless cuts of both soft and hard salami with a simple back-and-forth motion. A stainless steel arch works as a guide and helps keep hand away from blade while slicing.
The three rubber feet prevent sliding during use. A simple, push-in locking mechanism secures the blade when not in use. It is made of beech wood and a tempered, serrated stainless steel blade. Maximum diameter is 2.
I bought this as a birthday gift for my husband. He loves it. He kept saying how he’d never seen one before. The quality is very good. It’s sturdy and has a sharp blade (husband cut his finger cleaning it, be careful).
Perfect deli cuts of your favorite boneless meats are always within reach thanks to this heavy-duty commercial grade slicer. A finely honed blade rarely needs to be sharpened, even with frequent use.

I received this as a gift and am sadly disappointed. I used this slicer 3 times before the pinion gear stripped and now the slicer is a paper weight. I have tried several times to get the part to repair but it is never available.
I am confused by this because they always have the whole slicer to sell but not to repair. Seems like a throw over the wall kind of product. I can’t say I would buy any other merchandise from this manufacturer.
I would rather spend more money and get a quality product than a dollar and have to throw it away. What a waste in this throw away culture!.
I purchased this unit and used it once. I took it apart to clean afterwards and after reattaching the blade I noticed it was wobbly and would not cut a consistant thickness. Upon further investigation I fount the sleeve that the blade revolves on had been previously broken and glued back together and the glue had come loose.
This was not purchased as a refurbished unit. Cheap factory repair??.
I’ll admit I was terrified of this machine at first. But after following all instructions, I sliced some ham and was so pleased with the ease of the process. One drawback from me, and I’ll have to seek support, if removing the blade for cleaning.
The photo in the instructions shows someone using a coin and turning clockwise. I could not do it with a coin or a screwdriver. It felt like I would damage the area if I forced it.
Meat table removal. You can remove the meat table to clean it by simply moving the lever. Once you remove the meat table, the slicer automatically sets itself to safety mode and activates the CE lock.
Putting the meat table back on unlocks the lever and makes the machine return to operating mode. An important innovation that allows the removal of the meat table with one swift movement and makes it easier to clean the slicer.
Blade cover removal. The blade cover is quick and easy to remove. All you have to do is rotate it by 90° and pull it out. This will make optimal cleaning an easy everyday task. Press the blade cover down gently to put it back into place ready for use.
Built-in sharpener. All Red Line slicers have a built-in blade sharpener. You can position the sharpener manually simply by lifting and rotating it. The sharpener has only one position that does not require any adjustment, thereby ensuring the perfect angle for optimal sharpness.
Thickness adjustment knob. Red Line slicers are equipped with a built-in system that allows the gauge meat table to open up to 14 mm. The numbers on the adjustment knob refer to the actual thickness of the slice in millimetres.
This allows for the highest precision in slice thickness adjustment (especially the thinnest and most common) with a the highest repeatability. Width 475 mm. Height 480 mm. Lenght 635 mm. Technical data.
Cutting capacity (round) 230 mm. Maximum slice thickness 12 mm. Motor rating 0,31 kW. Electrical specifications 50Hz – 230V. Cutting capacity (rectangular) 245 x 225 mm. Blade diameter 300 mm. Weight 27 Kg.
Great product! We have been looking to replace our broken low cost slicer for years. After researching we really liked the Berkel product line. The 250 is quiet, precise and performs perfectly. We enjoy our own “Happy Hour” at home with friends and we produce top restaurant style charcuterie assortments.
one you rationalize the cost, you won’t be disappointed. Key Decision: Decide where you will keep it as it is a substantial item and it is hefty. We really enjoy ours, sure you will as well.
Painted aluminium body. Anodized aluminium components. Ergonomic food-presser made of alimentary nylon with teeth shaped to best block the product to cut. Wide space between motor and blade for easy cleaning.
Ventilated motor for continuous work. Carriage running on self-lubricating bushes and lapped pins. Strong thickness gauge support. Cast-in sharpener assembly with 2 standard emery-wheels. Compact dimensions but great cutting capacity.
A small, handy device with a highly efficient 710 W motor. The fastest and cheapest blade change on the market thanks to the durable Woodrazor blades. Maximum simplified adjustment of the knife position.
Ejection of chips to the right or left improves the working comfort. 3 different V-shaped grooves ensure easy and flexible bevelling. Workpiece protection through parking foot. Easy to operate switch lock for continuous operation for right and left handers.
This is a great planer, have used it several times now and it produces a smooth finish every time. It is reasonably lightweight and the operation is good for someone like me with small hands, the safety button and power trigger being in sensible positions.
Depth of cut is adjusted with the knob at the front, sometimes a bit too easily as this can turn when using the plane on its side. The rebate fence fits on via a screw knob on the front side and can be fiddly as the two knobs (the other to adjust the rebate depth) collide with each other so you have to fiddle to get them to operate together.
Having used the planer on it’s side the lever to switch the chip extraction left or right is a massive plus, you don’t end up with a face full of sawdust! Dust bag is also included. The whole thing comes in an absolutely mahoosive plastic box.
Delivered day after ordering, thumbs up to Axminster.
This machine has worked really well for me. It is robust, not too heavy, and the depth of cut adjustment is quick and so useful. I have given it quite a hammering and had to purchase a much bigger pack of spare blades because I have been using it to prepare old oak beams and posts for a sculpture I’m making.
Despite spending hours pulling out nails there are always one or two I’ve missed. Therefore, being able to replace the planer blades so easily is a real bonus.
My Dad has one of these and I have used it regularly. On deciding to buy one for myself due to the volume of work I have still to do, I carefully weighed up the pro’s and con’s between this and the Makita opposition.
The Makita is slightly higher power and cuts to 4mm. On balance it was the significant weight difference between the units that made my decision, and having used one of these countless times previously, I am confident it will do the range of jobs I have lined up for it nicely.
Complete farmhouse renovation and a couple of other rental properties. Buy with confidence.
There are a few things to consider when purchasing a deli slicer for home use. The first is the size of the slicer. If you plan on slicing large pieces of meat, you will need a larger slicer. The second is the blade.
You will want to make sure the blade is made of high quality steel and is sharp. The third is the price. Deli slicers can range in price from a few hundred dollars to over a thousand dollars. Choose the slicer that fits your needs and budget.
