Best Dehumidifier With Pump For Basement (2023 Updated)

I was using one of those mini ones, thinking they were doing a great job. However, after a leak, I decided to buy this bigger unit, and come to find out those mini ones weren’t pulling a tiny fraction of what this monster can pull from the air! I set up a couple of humidity monitors in my room, and when I turn this dehumidifier on, not only does the humidity go down quickly, but it fills up with water.

I didn’t know how damp my place was. I keep this near my bathroom, and I don’t have mildew/mold anymore. This also saved me during the heavy rains last month. The roof started leaking in my closet, so I placed the dehumidifier in there, and I was able to pull out so much water from the air.

It saved me from a potential mold disaster. It is heavy but it comes with wheels you can attach. I just roll it around everywhere I need to! In addition, it has a cleanable filter you just wash off when it alerts you to, and dump out the water when the basket fills up.

again it will alert you to do that as well!.

It works and is not too loud. Probably best for a basement. Would be good if the fan turned off immediately when the dehumidifier has reached a set humidity level. It does it eventually, but it takes a long time.

The humidity is only displayed in increments of 5. It does work and for a basement the constant fan operation is okay. Hard to tell how much water the unit has accumulated from looking at the water window.

Another humidifier I own has a little red ball in the water window, so you can easily see the water level from a distance. For a living room or bedroom I wouldn’t recommend the Haier due to the fact that the fan is running most of the time, but I haven’t found anything better in the price range yet.

Here’s a bit of a story: I originally bought a Pure Enrichment dehumidifier for $99 (from Target) which pulled almost no water and died after a year. Their customer service was willing to exchange it as long as I posted a positive review on Target, which I found strange, but did it with the intention of deleting it later (can’t delete reviews on Target).

The replacement dehumidifier no longer pulls water after three months of use, and has been trashed. I hate myself for knowing that I could’ve spent $60 more and gotten this dehumidifier, which pulls 20 pints instead of 0.

First I’m going to start by saying don’t listen to the experts that tell you to buy a 4000 or a 3000 square foot Dehumidifier for your whole house. Size it to be a few hundred square feet over for the room you’re going to put it in.

If you buy a 1000-square-foot Dehumidifier for a 100-square-foot room one of two things will happen and you’re going to have to live with it. Number one you buy one that works properly then turns on and shuts off when it gets to the proper level of humidity while at the same time heating the room up by a couple of degrees, 2.

If you purchased HomeLabs dehumidifiers where the thermostat does not work properly; it will run all day and heat up the room by 7 to 10 degrees. Plus, your energy bill. It doesn’t matter if it’s Energy Star rated if it runs all day.

Energy Star-rated appliances mean’s it uses, at best, 1/4 of a kilowatt per hour up to a kilowatt per hour. Typically, Energy Star Dehumidifiers use 3/4 to 1 kilowatt per hour. So, if you want your utilities to spike, buy a HomeLabs Dehumidifier.

Question: How much does it cost to run this Dehumidifier for a day? Answer: 22 to 24 kilowatts. Now you know. Do the math and figure out if you can afford to purchase a Dehumidifier that never turns off.

Update: drive has been running for about two weeks and is amazing !! Worth the money. I house has a little less SF 2000 and SF 4500 acquired the unit on the recommendation of an article I read about ridding your home of moisture states to buy the biggest drive you can afford without is too big for ita € ™ s counterproductive and creates excess heat for space.

So I decided to buy the SF 4500 unit because we have moisture problems. To give you a visual of what I bought this dehumidifier, I was so tired of having to clean the windows every morning. Condensation on windows was so thick that covers moisture literally every window of the house from top to bottom, like steam in a mirror in the bathroom, but ten times worse, water would accumulate so thick that there were drops of water They are running down the windows and we would have puddles of water on our windowsills.

Mold on the window tracks each window, simply disgusting. Our house was a constant humidity at 68-70%, and every morning I had to turn around and clean and dry all windows, and the window of the house.

Now, while IA € ™ sees only had this unit running in my house comes in 24 hours the bucket is filled twice. TWICE !! (IA € ™ m not use the drain function and hose as IA € ™ have placed this unit in our living room) Ita € ™ s madness the amount of water this thing has and is taking out of the air! Review update a year later, IA € ™ d give it one star. Just a room of 150 square feet cools, keeping the temperature at 76, when itâ € ™ s hot outside, in the 90s That Isna € ™ t good enough, period.

People buy it. And sorry, I really think that by buying a â € € œportableâ unit. They weigh a ton, and dona € ™ t cool early, as well as a smaller window unit lower power and price, which weighs less and is like in the real world portable.

We has three bedrooms of equal size to cool in the heat waves here in CA, and dona € ™ t use CA for 11 months year. CA has perfect weather mostly. But there fronts occasional heat blowing through strong winds, alert red flag, warm weather and dry fire season, so that lights only a couple of weeks here and a week couple there, and then eliminates back to the garage window from November to June.

Yes, the room is cooled very well. But there are plenty of negatives. It is a quiet place as advertised when in fan mode, but my goodness when that shoots up capacitor, it is surprising and very loud and noise.

No way you can sleep through that noise change. Which means that when I want the room cool I have to sleep with earplugs. It’s not fun. Also vent hose is much bigger than my old panel sliding fit is too long and needs to be cut to fit the window.

Neck pain, which, besides which means that the window has to be higher, cutting off the light. The last thing is – is much heavier than my old one. I could barely move in the room where it was needed.

Which weighed 62 lbs and was without water. Much more heavy than advertised. I’ll give it a few more days, but I want to go back, even if I have to pay shipping. Those who make do. Yuck.

Super running machine. Tank is a bit too small for the amount of water that this machine sucks out of the ( my basement’s ) air. Not ready to hook up the drain attachment. Prior machine of the same dehumidifying size/power ( Whirlpool ) had a larger front tank.

Now dumping in the a. m. and before bed. During the 1st week+, an added mid aft dumping of water was needed. Unit has made a major difference in the basement/house as the the air that feeds my home’s heat pump for a/c is much less humid.

When removing the filled front tank, the unit surprisingly does not turn off during the procedure, unlike my prior dehumidifier. The unit does turn off when the tank is full though. One thing to beware of when dumping, is to make sure you empty the water at the end where there is a larger opening area.

The end has the moving water level plastic square lever. The interior plastic liner the sits below the handle of the reservoir tank is very flimsy, like a cheap “Tupperware” knockoff quality. The pressure from the water dumping pushed push the interior cover upwards ( without my knowledge ) and resulted in the water being diverted and draining out of the unit overnight, hence flooding the floor rather than collecting into the unit.

The Honeywell unit’s fan is considerably quieter than my last Whirlpool, which stopped dehumidifying entirely after 8 great years of service. I hope my new unit’s life expectancy comes close to the deceased Whirlpool.

This I sadly doubt based on current cheaper materials and the manufacturers’ need to meet consumer price points. The wifi enabled feature I awill eventually test out and will surely prove handy. 5 Star Unit!.

I have a damp house- humidity was running in the 60% range in the summer. I had been researching on a good dehumifier on Amazon, but ended up visiting Best Buy and making a choice among the brands they had on stock.

Luckily one of them was this Honeywell model that I remembered had good reviews on Amazon. I bought it and have been very pleased with its performance so far. It serves as a whole-house dehumidifier, and it is working well so far.

It is a little on the loud side; it sounds like a window air conditioning unit, but after a while it becomes white noise that I no longer notice. The instructions say to initially set the unit to 30% and let it work its way to that point.

It is supposed to reach that in a few days, but it has never gotten to that– the best it has reached is 39%. But I’m still satisfied with that. I live in the South where high humidity is really bad.

Right now, the reading upstairs is about 41%, which is amazing, I think, for August. The water capturing reservoir is large, so we only empty it out about 3 times a day. There is an option to hook it up to a hose, but we like the portability of wheeling it wherever we think it will best serve its purpose.

The unit beeps two or three times when the reservoir is full, and it also notifies me on my phone! I love that feature!.

Love! Love! Love! The little dehumidifier that could! Honeywell has always been a favorite brand of mine & I learned about the company from my folks way back in 1967. It works like a charm, comes with its own hose in case you have a drain into which it can continually drain.

The splash guard is a nice addition, especially since water was always slopping out of the Danby model that preceded this one. The only negative if you can call it that is it seems flimsy in comparison to the Danby one that finally “kicked the bucket”.

BUT, that has to do with how most things are built these days. I will reserve judgment until much later on the durability of this most modern version. The dehumidifiers my folks bought were made of metal, then they were made of a heavier duty plastic or similiar substance.

Just because the modern ones aren’t as heavily constructed doesn’t mean they are truly “filmsy”. I went with the Honeywell because of the 5 Year Warranty. My Danby lasted at least 8 years maybe 10, I don’t really remember for certain, But Honeywell makes good products & this was on sale.

I do find it interesting that it used to be considered a 70 pint capacity unit; but, changes in how the measurements are determined have lowered it to the 50 pints. Am very pleased so far.

I use this unit to remove the moisture from my basement. Have been in operation for about 7 weeks, and so far it is working as expected. It shuts down when the humidity levels are reached, which helps to save on the operational cost.

All I have to do it check the filter every so often. The humidity is firmly under control and the unit is fairly quiet. Based on the short time in operation, I am pleased with the performance and would suggest to definity consider this unit to anyone in need of a dehumidifier.

We have an open two story foyer and our upstairs is noticeably more humid as we ascend the stairs, but not anymore since we’ve been using this. It does run 23 hours a day (Atlanta summers are humid) and shuts off automatically (for it’s one hour reset as described) but starts up by itself.

Had it about a month. Other reviewers comments have been confirmed: works well, loud, easy to use, produces heat. Bail handle on condensate bin is very helpful. Bin seems to hold 5 quarts. Instructions written by too many attorneys say don’t use an extension cord, but the cord on the machine is too short to reach outlets in several areas, so order a 3-probed grounded extension cord too.

Mine is 6’ long, and with it and the machine cord, it reaches all needed areas. I’ve been able to get humidity down into the low 40’s%, and without running it 24/7, can generally keep it below 50%. So, much more comfortable.

Zoned CACH doesn’t run long enough to sufficiently dehumidify.

The unit is quiet and does not bother humans or cats. The unit is good looking. The wheels easily are inserted into the unit. You do not need a hammer. The pump works perfectly. Be sure to press the PUMP BUTTON and you will be all set.

The pump hose is included and it does not leak. The unit dehumidified my entire basement on the LOW SETTING so fast. The bucket does have a handle if you decide not to use the pump feature. Good quality brand name.

We have just started using our new dehumidifier from Whirlpool. So far it has been great. It takes a lot of moisture out of the air in our basement. It runs very quietly which is an amazing plus. It seems very versatile with its different settings.

We like the added advantage with the pump for when we will leave the house for a few days. Haven’t tried that yet but that is one reason we purchased this model. Purchasing the model and having it shipped to our house was very smooth.

AMAZED. I live In Missouri an extremely humid state. I have used this unit in the basement of my brick home for about 9 months. WOW! Who knew so much water was in the atmosphere? In winter, I emptied the unit anywhere from 1 to 3 times a week.

Since spring has come I’m emptying the unit 1 to 3 times a day. I run the unit 24/7. Except for when the unit stops because it is full. My home smells better and I’m breathing easier. Though easy to get going, there are a lot of controls on the dashboard that are not intuitive which makes me feel like I’m not getting full use of the unit.

The instruction manual helps but is not straightforward. I absolutely recommend as the unit works extremely well! Money well spent. I need another unit. PROS- works, collects lots of water, easy to set up, easy to remove container, on wheels, fairly quiet CONS- unit dashboard confusing, short cord, no sound alert when full.

The pump has never worked! I considered just emptying the bucket, but it holds only a few quarts, so it fills in just a few hours. To take advantage of the 50pt/day capacity, you have to constantly remember to keep emptying the bucket.

The bucket has a cheap plastic cover that doesn’t seat well and pops up fouling re-insertion of the bucket. Did I mention you will have to do this a lot since the pump doesn’t work? Very disappointed with what I thought would be a reliable manufacturer.

Buy the cheapest available and get a warrante. It can’t be any worse than this one!.

Compact and quiet. Pulls plenty of moisture out of the air. Bucket snaps in and out from the front. Cleaner and looks way better. Takes up less space with no bucket sticking out of the back. Takes a little getting used to- the only reason i gave it a 4 instead of 5.

Great design, works well, can still hear the TV when it runs. I haven’t actually adjusted any of the controls. Took it out of the box, plugged it in, all I do is empty the bucket every day. Ordered online, arrived fast in fine condition.

I purchased my 1st De’Longhi dehumidifier over 25 years ago. It operated in my dusty basement without fail until t stopped last month. I called for parts but decided to purchase a brand new one after a 20% didcount as a returning customer.

My new dehumidifier arrived in days, ahead of schedule. The new system is much more advanced and very efficient. Thank you De’Longhi for manufacturing such a quality machine.

I bought two of these after my house and garage leaked during heavy rain. There was water dripping from the ceiling and coming in through blockwork. I used the drain feature on the units after discovering that the pump would sometimes reset without warning (I’m not sure why).

Initial humidity reduction was quite fast, but it took several days to bring the humidity levels down from 90+% to below 60% – probably because the walls and floors and ceilings were damp when I began.

In the end I had to go away, so I left the machines on with the drainage pipes running outside under the door. The units stop dehumidifying when they reach the target, and the fans go to the low settings, so things were nice and dry when I returned.

As others have noted, the heat pump does increase the temp by about 2-3°, but that is in the manual. They’re reasonably noisy when they’re going as well, but that’s because they’re doing a big job. I wouldn’t sleep in a room with one going.

There are smaller and quieter ones out there that won’t dehumidify quite as quickly if you don’t need hundreds of litres of water to come out of your room. One nice feature is that the machine remembers its setting if there is a power failure.

My only wish is that it would actually turn the fan off when the target is met. I didn’t buy them as air purifiers.

The DeLonghi Energy Star 70 Pint Dehumidifier with Pump, Model # DDX70PE has performed well for a month. It is excellent at water removal and it has options for draining into the internal tank, a gravity hose in the rear, or pumping it up and away.

The fan has two speeds and it runs continuously on low speed when the unit is not dehumidifying, so a bit noisy. The pump works very well, but if the power goes off or someone turns it off, you have to push the ‘pump’ button as well as turning it back on.

We are using it in a 3,300 square foot room in a church basement and it has solved the musty smell we have had before. It would be even better if we could program it not to run at certain times when groups are using the room, but you can’t have everything.

Quite satisfied.

IšverstiShow in original languageI purchased a dehumidifier because of the recommendation that my solid wood guitars be stored at 45-55% humidity, a range too often exceeded here in sunny (and humid) Florida.

I purchased the 35 pint model intending to use it in a 450 square foot room that I use as a music practice room. However, since this room is adjacent to our laundry room, I ended up using it in my study (120 square foot room) where I hang my guitars from the wall.

Guitars should after all be seen as well as heard! This unit is great at controlling humidity at 5% above and below the setpoint, but at the expense of a lot of generated heat. I monitored humidity and temperature over a number of days, and found that the heat output was predictably highest on very humid days, but did not expect the temperature to increase by up to 4 degrees Fahrenheit on the most humid days.

The problem of this degree of heat output (pun intended) is compounded by the fact that a low humidity makes a warm room feel hotter than it actually is. So, the perceived gain in temperature is actually more than 4 degrees F.

Also, I keep my study door shut as the rest of the house is at a higher humidity. The resulting stuffiness adds to the discomfort. Overall, this experience exemplifies the concept of entropy, the general tendency of the universe and human experience towards disorder and chaos.

Solving one problem invariably produces a number of other problems that require their own unique solutions. In turn, each solution produces its own novel set of problems, ad infinitum. Of course, I could have purchased a smaller dehumidifier model, but expect that it would have had to work harder, producing more heat and effort to maintain.

Or I can set the unit to maintain a higher relative humidity, since up to 60% humidity for guitars is considered generally acceptable. Or, God forbid, I could ditch my guitars! No way will I commit this heresy: entropy is more tolerable with music! Overall, this unit does its job well, though the 10% range of humidity control, and the heat output, is a bit more than I bargained for.

I now store my expensive guitar in a case with humidity control packs, and keep a cheaper model on display. I will experiment with a higher humidity setting, and use the unit only on very humid days.

This solution of course comes at the expense of added labor. Entropy wins!.

IšverstiShow in original languageOur old basement dehumidifier finally died after > 20 years. The specs on this unit, and reviews, were solid, I’m quite happy with it. This dehumidifier took our roughly 1200 square foot basement from around 72% down to 44% humidity over several days, has been maintaining it at that point since.

I have the Smart Dry function running, with the set point nominal 50% (it reads a bit high – the 44% is from several separate humidity sensors, plus subjectively based on comfort); the unit turns on when the humidity has gone up a bit, and adjusts fan speed as it settles in on the target, eventually going off entirely.

I have the dehumidifier on a small platform adjacent to our heater (meeting the recommended free space around the humidifier), with an outlet hose feeding into the heater’s external condensate pump. Drilling a small hole in the top of the outlet hose, just outside of where it enters the knockout area, and snuggly hand-tightening the hose to the unit (I use some teflon paste on the fitting – ease of removal), has been working fine – no issues with airlock on the outlet hose.

The check filter light on top of the unit is handy, and filter access easy. Based on installation location I doubt the filter will need cleaning frequently, beyond blowing out any light dust that settles on it.

This one definitely removed moisture much quicker than the 30 pints. The wifi capability allows me to monitor home humidity while away. After piping this into the house sewer, the dehumidifier can run unattended for months if necessary.

Still need to clear the screen filter on occasion. My only gripe is the humidity sensor update interval is either too long, or is inaccurate by about 5-10%. The other humidity sensors in the room update within seconds and show a 1% difference between the two, but this dehumidifier is consistently about 5-10% different than the other 2 sensors in the room.

Not a deal breaker, just something to consider when you set the humidity level on the dehumidifier. This unit is much quieter than my previous unit at only 54 db which is a little less than normal conversation (60 db).

After having 3 other units from differing manufacturers, this one has a low noise level, drops humidity in a 200 sq ft room quickly and has impressive build quality. Despite the humidity sensor being slightly off, I would still recommend this unit over any of the others.

The dehumidifier works well. It is easy to use, and has a nice control panel. The recessed handle and front-loading bucket demonstrate a thoughtful design. Regarding the noise level, at first I thought that it was extremely quiet, shortly upon starting it for the first time.

All I heard was the quiet sound of air. Within a few minutes, however, a sort of humming sound began. I surmise that this is normal, as the manual states that this is the sound of the refrigerant circulating.

And so, I have grown accustomed to it. I live in single-story, 1100 square-foot apartment, and so, I can hear the dehumidifier in every room, similar to being able to hear the refrigerator when it is running.

I do have to turn up the volume on the TV and stereo, while the dehumidifier is running. But, this is to be expected, with an additional, competing sound source. The owner’s manual could be written more clearly and in better English.

It was likely written by someone whose native language is other than English.

I bought three dehumidifiers at the same time. I returned the other two (Lowes and HD brands) and kept this one. They were all energy star but I found this one to be the quietest. It is being used in an apartment (750 sq ft).

I like the fact that there is a drying feature not only for drying clothes. Before you store it away you can remove excess water that is in the unit to prevent mold, with the drying feature! It was also light to carry up stairs and rolls around easily.

Living in the south I deal with a great deal of humidity. After pruchasing a HomeLab 50pt dehumidifier for my large garage I was super pleased. It worked fantastic, removing tons of moisture and keeping the garage right at its set point of 50% humidity.

As with all things it eventually failed, hey nobody’s perfect. Not having much faith in new item warranties from past experiences, I almost didn’t bother calling but decided to try anyway. Nothing ventured nothing gained, right? Spoke to a Ms.

Emily Blake at customer service. She was very pleasant and after hearing my tale of woe and checking on my registration info, she told me that she would be happy to replace the humidifier at no cost.

You could have knocked me over with a feather! She took the order on a Monday morning and the replacement arrived Tuesday evening via UPS, pass me another feather! I haven’t had time to fire it up yet, letting it sit static for 24 huse like the box said.

In any case was super happy with the original product right up until it diedl. Ultra pleased with the response I got on the warranty so have no doubt this one will work fine. If not I’ll post but in the meantime kudo’s to HomeLabs for their product and service and thank you Ms.

We’ve been using this for a few weeks now and are very happy with this 50 pint unit. We are manually emptying the bucket, which is getting to be less frequent (every two days instead of 2X a day), thanks to the lowered humidity in our entire, 1600 sq.

ft. house. It’s a little less quiet than I’d hoped, but the reviews accurately stated the acceptable level we are experiencing. It’s in the studio where I work all day, so I have to turn it off for some phone calls but it’s not a big deal.

Moving it around (empty) is easy on the casters though. Small trade-off though for pushing back the mold-causing humidity in our Florida house in winter. The regular daytime, 3-degree delta between the outside temp and our heat pump’s air conditioning function means the heat pump is unable to dehumidify the house.

This won’t be a problem in the summer for us, but this is the best solution to a winter problem that has been building for years. The house smells noticeably better. Our towels are drying out; my artwork is now safe.

We’re very pleased with this purchase; it looks nice and the good reviews have been spot-on.

I use the product in the basement of my home. The area is finished (80%). It is where my home office is located. Years ago I noticed that leather goods (footballs, baseball gloves, etc. ) were getting a moldy film on them.

I deduced that the moist atmosphere was causing this to occur. Seven years ago I purchased my first dehumidifier. Within weeks the leather products never formed this coating again. I was shocked to see how much water is pulled by this unit.

Once it caught up, the amount of evaporated water collected was greatly reduced. My only negative comment is the life span of these units. I am on my fourth unit in seven years. Granted my first two units were from another manufacturer.

The Homelab unit failed after 30 or so months, longer than the other brands. I just started using my new unit and it is performing like a champ. I will definitely consider this manufacturer again when the need arises.

I hope a Frigidaire customer relations person will read this review and will pass along the information to the people that maybe can do something about the fact that these dehumidifiers consistently only last 1-2 seasons.

The last one to stop working was a model FFAP033T1E, a 70 Pint unit. The original unit, model FAD704DWD had a 5 year warranty, so it was replaced 5 times!!! Each unit showed the dreaded FO error code after 1 or 2 seasons.

I have seen many reviews in several sites, including some in this site where people complain about their units dying after just 1 or 2 years of use. Even the new models, which are now 60 pints units, are getting reviews saying the same thing.

How is it possible that Frigidaire has not solved the problem that is causing the units to stop working after such a short time? The people responding to some of the reviews here appear surprised at the reviews that complain of their unit dying, when in fact they probably get hundreds of complaints like this daily.

I also found out that the warranty has now been decreased from 5 years to 1 year! This means that there is no chance of getting a replacement once the unit dies after 1 or 2 seasons. I really like the dehumidifier while it’s working.

Its has nice features and works well, but not for long. I was actually considering purchasing one of the new 60 pint models, but then I saw reviews complaining about the same issue! It is really a shame that Frigidaire continues to sell these units that they know will fail within 1-2 years and will have to be thrown out, most probably going to landfills and have a terrible effect on the environment.

I would like to ask Frigidaire to address this problem to try to improve their product. Why is it that the old dehumidifiers lasted for years and years (I have a Sears unit that has been working for about 40 years and still going!), but Frigidaire can’t make a unit that lasts even 3 years? I implore Frigidaire to address the issue!!.

The power and pump switches were difficult to actuate right out if the box. The unit blew warm (heated) air while the condenser ran: contrary to some reviews, this is a normal and good thing because it indicates the refrigeration process is happening as it should.

I allowed it to fill the first bucket which I dumped manually. time to set up the pump. Pet the instructions, I started to connect the hose by removing the plug (don’t get hung up looking for the gray ring shown in the manual and on the instructional label on the unit.

it was there but it wasn’t gray). I then inserted the pump drain tube by forcing it into the connector and then tried to turn on the unit. it wouldn’t turn on; I unplugged the unit and retried. success, but the pump switch didn’t work; kept trying and the pump indicator finally lit up.

The next bucket of water pumped onto the floor. I removed the pump tube, reinserted it, placed the unit in a large, deep boot tray, and tried to restart it. difficulties again restarting and turning the pump off and on.

Next bucket pumped into the boot tray. I called Frigidaire Customer Care. The agent could offer no solutions other than put plumber’s tape on the connection; when I asked for a drawing or bulletin showing tape application, they said nothing was available.

(Frigidaire only makes true technical support available through a service call. ) Agent suggested that the unit was about a year old and had sat in Amazon’s warehouse where anything could have happened, so return it for a refund or replacement.

I told them that I would troubleshoot the hose connection to find out what was wrong and that I was disappointed that they did not walk me through the pump drain tube connection procedure. When pressed, the Frigidaire agent bordered on rude and was not helpful in the least and seemed to have no concept of the problem.

I needed to find the problem before returning the unit to find I had flooding with a new one. I removed the tube, inserted the plug and noted how easily it went in and how far. I removed it and tried to reinsert the tube.

it went in very hard and only about 3/8 inch before it stopped. The diameter of tube measured 1/32 inch larger than the plug. big clue! Retrying, I had to use what I consider excessive force to insert the tube to the same approximate depth as the plug had been.

Upon close examination, I finally saw faint printing on the end of the tube showing an insertion depth mark and more instruction. would have been great to have included this information in the manual! Leak solved! But I still had problems with switches.

I finally found that pressing the power switch offset at least 1/4 inch to the left of center worked. Doing the same with the pump switch was not as reliable, but I was finally able to get it actuated.

Letting it dehumidify and pump while waiting for a new one to get here. Since it is still well inside if 30 days, I will be returning it to Amazon for a refund. Because of the smaller molecular size of the newer “more environmentally friendly” refrigerants used nowadays, I believe it is more difficult to get a good seal to prevent it from leaking out.

I have had to replace dehumidifiers every couple of years instead of running a unit for 10 or fifteen. Units are now are like this one with only a one year limited warranty instead of 2-5 year, so I suggest that you do like I do and get the longest affordable service plan you can if you plan to keep it in service; they won’t recharge a unit to fix it (it will go in a landfill- you pay a refrigerant removal charge even though most of it keaked out into the environment), but at least you can get a refund of your money; if the price of a replacement is more, you still have to pony up the difference.

It will be a nice surprise if I never have to use my service plan on my new Frigidare unit. just think about how that would save the environmental impact of manufacturing and disposing of five dehumidifiers when one used to last as long as five do now.

My rating includes considerations for inadequate instruction for pump drain hose connection, lousy customer support, lack of access to any semblance of true technical support, a faulty keypad, but a unit that dehumidifies well at this time.

I have a 1250 sq ft home and have been smelling a wet stone odor for a few years. I require a lot of time and research before taking the plunge on a large purchase and finally had the opportunity to do a deep dive on dehumidifiers, their features, and price points.

Blogs, independent sites, and consumer reports overwhelmingly recommended this model above many others. And after using it for a few weeks, I can see why. The product came carefully packaged and was easy to set up.

When I started the machine, my humidity level in the basement exceeded 65%. Not good! After running the dehumidifier for several days, the large open space was at a comfortable 45%! Amazing. I could truly tell the difference.

The wet stone smell that I would catch on the main level of my home has nearly disappeared. The ease of use, quiet fan noise, extreme efficiency, and automatic pump w/drainage tube all combine for the perfect device.

and all for a competitive price. I would recommend this model to anyone in the market for a dehumidifier.

We bought a new home & I knew that we’d need a dehumidifier as the house is 120 years old on a stone foundation. So plenty of moisture in the basement all the time & after a rainy day the humidity down there would easily spike up to around 70% with the musty smells turned up to 11.

Plus, being in Canada, spring thaw is guaranteed to reproduce that effect for at least a couple months. So not only would we need one that could handle the space, more importantly it needed to handle always being on standby with our set relative humidity target of 40%, & also easy to maintain.

After days of research we settled on the Friedrich 50-pint with pump because that way we could connect it direct to a drain & not worry about emptying it & all that fun maintenance stuff. After more digging online & trying to figure out 1) who carried this particular model (not as easy as you’d think despite being in Toronto) & 2) when we could get it.

That’s where Sylvane came in. After talking to a couple of local licensed resellers & disliking the way we were handled as we were clearly not a high-value client to them, I reached out to Sylvane with a couple questions prior to purchase The customer service here is bloody fantastic! Prompt, friendly, and detailed in their replies.

So that sealed the deal in terms of buying through Sylvane despite the cross-border costs etc. Plus, the buying and shipping experience was brilliant as they handled all the cross-border clearances etc.

As for the Friedrich itself, once we set it up with the pump & the line into the drain, this thing has been a dream. We literally haven’t touched it once since we turned it on. It’s easily handling the 1200sq.

ft basement & maintaining that 40% humidity despite the fall rainy season. Musty smells are all but gone & humidity is where it should be now. From now on I won’t think twice about buying through Sylvane for anything they sell, & I’m all in on Friedrich from here on out.

Great product. Small enough it rolls about easily on castors. The auto shut off (turn it on and let it go) works great so no worries about spilling over before you empty it. Very sturdy and feels solid.

The handle on the top of the water collection drawer (which is exposed when you begin to pull the drawer out, makes it very easy to carry to your dumping location. The only cautionary comments are (1) it may be too very heavy to lift (for some) so, heft the box in the store before you buy, it you’re straining, don’t buy it as it won’t get lighter at home, (2) when you put it away for storage, make sure you thoroughly wipe out the interior of the compartment where the water capture drawer sits as each time you pull it out to empty, the unit will drip a bit more, perhaps a teaspoon or so and you don’t want to store it wet, (3) unless you remove the styrofoam packaging from the box, it won’t fit back in once the castors are attached – and they are near impossible to remove – so just add a few pieces of styrofoam back into the box to provide bulk to avoid smashing the power connector cord and you’ll be fine to save it for next usage and (4) it can be a little LOUD if you run it in a room where people are; wish it had a lower sound setting for that, but, for garage/basement where you only occasionally are near it, just fine.

The castors work well, but, on heavy shag, not so well. You might want to put it on a low tray to keep it from sitting directly on your carpet or wood floors to keep it wandering about on the castors if someone bumps it in passing.

These are issues every portable or semi-portable dehumidifier will pretty much have, so, not a big deal really. Great price and it looks pretty nice, too!.

Bought a used Tosot at a Habitat for Humanity Restore. Great product, there is a pump which means I am able to leave it on and have it drain into my sink. I can’t lift heavy items so the pump was necessary.

I put this in my kitchen and it has made a huge difference. I live near two rivers on a hill. Everyone has sump pumps on this block, it is a wet area. This thing pulls so much water out of the air. The wheels make it easy to move when I’m not using it.

Now that I have one, I see the value in paying full price for this product.

Purchased the 50 gallon dehumidifier a few years ago. Stopped working completely. In trying to get a resolution to fix the unit from the Tosot company, I was given a 15% discount to buy another one. Really? This is your solution? Admission of a poor product?Really disappointed in this company.

my unit worked for about 16 months and then had a freon leak. I was 4 months out of warranty. It’s disappointing you can’t make a product that retains the freon of all things for more than a year and a half.

Customer service runs you around in circles doing pointless things like unplugging the unit and plugging it back in. Last I checked that doesn’t fix freon leaks.

Easy to set up & use. Includes tubing for built-in pump. Tubing has a built-in fitting on one end to connect/disconnect to/from pump connector at bottom right of unit, viewed from rear. Fairly quiet even at high fan speed.

Surprised that pump cannot be activated to pump out the bucket when the bucket is full. Had expected pump, when activated, to turn on automatically when bucket is full, pump out the bucket & then turn off, as our prior dehumidifier with pump had operated.

Instead, GE pump runs on a timed cycle: 34 sec pumping time + 4 min 51 sec between pumping = 5 min 25 sec cycle time. Pump operates on this cycle whenever it is activated & the dehumidifier is running.

If pump is activated when the bucket is empty, it will keep the bucket empty, or nearly so, instead of letting the bucket fill & then pump out the full bucket. This works, but the product description and/or the product manual should be more specific.

My 3 star review at the moment is based on my first unit not working properly. The unit would go on, reach the desired relative humidity and then it would not go back into cycle back into dehumidifying unless I powered it off and on.

I spoke to GE support and after the agent went through many obvious steps, they agreed it was defective and recommended that I request a replacement from the retailer. I was able to get a new unit shipped by Best Buy and installed it just yesterday.

Its been plugged in for about 15 hours and seems to be doing better. I have yet to see it reach the desired relative humidity and go into stand by mode yet though. The manual does say to give it 24 hours, so I will do that and update my review with more info in a few weeks.

I’ve had this dehumidifier now for about a month and it’s been great so far, and pleasantly surprised as I was worried I would probably be testing the limits and expectations of it since I’m using it in my 3 car garage.

My garage is finished, but obviously not airtight with the overhead doors allowing the outside environment to leak in. I set the smart humidity to 45%, and expected the machine would probably run nonstop trying to fight the outside coming through.

I’ve been surprised how well it’s handled the big garage. It can reach desired lower humidity levels and does not need to run nonstop. I also love how it came included with an internal pump and long hose which I ran outside and haven’t had to worry about emptying the reservoir.

The ONLY reason why I bought a new dehumidifier is to have web based remote monitoring and control of my unit and basement humidity while gone for the off-season. My old one works fine. Before buying this unit I downloaded the manual in hopes of getting an overview of its web/wifi capabilities.

But the manual is lacking info about what can be done via the ThinQ app and really only states one sentence: “Use the Settings feature to manage product or application settings. ” Gee, thanks. In a leap of faith, I bought the unit based on other successful wifi items I have (such as thermostats).

I am very disappointed at the lack of feedback and features on the wifi app. You can turn it on/off, set a schedule, set humidity target and do a unit diagnostic. But it does not relay other information, such as the need to check the filter, whether is “actually” running or not and if there was some other fault, like the bucket full sensor.

How you could build an app that goes to all the trouble and added technology and programming to communicate with the unit (or visa-versa), and then leave off half of the information and feedback as per the display of the unit? That reality baffles me.

Also I have an above average aptitude for these kinds of things and setups, and even so can usually work my way through poorly documented setup, as in the case of this unit. However, I really had to try some patience on this unit and it’s unfortunate and convoluted procedure to get it connected to my WIFI.

There are also many instances of poorly explained procedures. For example if you want to use the pump option instead of the bucket or the drain, step 6 says “The pump will continue to operate if the water bucket is removed” but one inch to the right, a notes bullet point says: “The pump only operates when the water bucket is full,” meaning the water bucket does does have to be in place, in order for the pump to work.

Now that I have really examined the unit and the flow of water, I understand that the water always goes in the bucket and then is either dumped by hand or gravity drained, or pumped, but in all cases the bucket in place and filling up is always part of the process.

It would be helpful to actually point that out and definitely not helpful for the manual to inadvertently contradict itself. A frustrating piece of equipment that falls short of my expectation, and very poorly.

I’ve had one of these for several years. I use it the basement and only run it during the summer months. It certainly takes a lot of moisture out of the air, so in that regard, it works great. A couple things you should know though, if you’re using this in one of you main living spaces.

1) After about a year of use (maybe less), it seemed to get louder. As I mentioned, I keep mine in the basement, so it’s not a big deal. It would be if I ran elsewhere. 2) It never turns off. I failed to understand this when I bought it, but again not a huge deal for me with it being in the basement.

It stays running non-stop, and then kicks in to dehumidify when it needs to.

We bought this a month ago, been using it constantly in our small apartment and it works great. We live in an apartment that doesn’t have a fan in the bathroom so we really needed a dehumidifier, plus summers here get really humid and we live in a basement apartment.

It auto shuts off when it’s full (tested it), it’ll beep kind of loud to let you know it’s full. There’s a red plastic bar you can see through the little window in the front that lets you when it’s getting full.

Within the first hour of running it, it got around 3 inches of water in the bucket. It’s easy to use, small enough, and can easily be moved from one place to another. This thing has been great being as we live in a place that gets really humid.

Comes with a 2 year warranty, you can sign up online after you get the product and get another free 2 months, and have the option to pay for extended warranty past all that. So far this has been money really well spent.

If anything happens I will update this review but so far, money well spent!.

This Danby 22 Pint Dehumidifier purchased online was best priced at Home Depot. By consumer reputation this dehumidifier should have been adequate to dehumidifier approx 1200 sq. ft. in our basement.

This Danby product replaced a dehumidifier after several years of satisfactory performance operating at about 45% only required in the summer. The Danby reached the desired 45% setting once and shut-off only to turn-on seconds later.

I use a hose to drain in the floor but have used the bucket to only confirm water output recently which appeared OK although the dehumidifier will run continually as not desired while connected by the 6 ft.

drain hose. By the Danby product description I felt this dehumidifier was adequate for our needs. I have filed the warranty online and probably not be able to return to Home Depot or sell for this reason.

This was fun from the start. You should know that this is the second Tao 6L Dehumidifier installed at my home. One in the house, another now located in one of my outbuildings that stores memorabilia and camping gear.

I was so skeptical purchasing a fan for $150 but when I tell you…this is the best purchase of my life, I’m not exaggerating. During the transitional seasons my household likes to shut off the air conditioning and open the windows.

If there’s no wind the house is very humid and I’m unable to sleep. I suffered so many nights unable to stay cool. I tried cooling blankets, pillows and regular fans and nothing worked. I was tempted to buy an AC unit just for my room but instead I decided to find the next best thing.

This cooling fan is so good it deserves more than 5 stars. It keeps my room COLD just how I like it. Keep in mind it is not an air conditioning unit but it will cool down the room in about an hour. I would recommend this to anyone!.
