20 Best Daily Shampoo For Oily Hair (2023 Updated)

Tried the Degrease Shampoo because my hair is quite on the oily scale. Packaging is great and high quality bottle and tamper proof lid/foil. Upon first usage, I noticed a very floral, fruity, citrus-like scent.

It smells great and reminds me of sorbet or candy. After rinsing off, the scent is much more subtle which is great that it doesnt overpower you. The shampoo so far has been great. It doesn’t dry out your hair like other shampoos for oily hair and it keeps the hair soft and very clean.

Glad I got to try it out and I like it!.

I struggle with having an oily scalp and dry ends. Also being a busy mom, I like to try to go a couple days between shampooing to reduce having so many washings and also to save time. I have used Maple Holistics before with luck, and this Degrease shampoo has been amazing! It does a wonderful job of reducing having oily roots, but doesn’t make my hair feel crispy.

I think I also end up with product buildup, and this shampoo surprisingly leaves my hair looking shiny and smooth – so it manages to clarify my hair without stripping it. It is nice to find a good cleansing shampoo that leaves my hair feeling healthy as well!.

I have been using this Hydrasource line for almost a year now and it’s been awesome for my hair / hair type. I was happy to find that a travel size was available so that I wouldn’t need to lug the full size around.

No issues with leaking or getting product out of the bottle. This may also be good for someone if they’re wanting to try the product before committing to a full size. The only thing is that in the past I have gone through products after months of use and then noticed that it was drying out my hair, making it stringy, etc.

so the trial size may not be enough for you to make an actual decision on whether it works for you or not long term. Certain ingredients in products work wonders for certain hair properties so what’s beneficial and amazing on my hair may not work the same on yours.

I have medium to coarse hair and a full head of it. It’s long in length and growing up it was straight. As I got older and processed my hair, it began getting frizzy but still somewhat straight. After consistently using this (along with the deep conditioning mask, leave in conditioning lotion and my heat protectants) I can actually 90% air dry and use a medium / cool setting when blow drying to get it sleek straight without feeling the need to run a flat iron over it – it’s been very beneficial for my hair needs.

It hasn’t compromised the coloring done on my hair in fact, I think my results have started to last longer after my hair got accustomed to it, and my hair has a brilliant natural shine to it without anyone buildup.

During the Covid lockdown my last Aveda shampoo stopped being effective and I was unable to visit my stylist or dermatologist and seek advice. I took a chance on this shampoo and conditioner and since my situation had gotten very bad I purchased the scalp balancing oil treatment also.

I am exceedingly happy with the products! Read the instructions! Follow the instructions! First I started with the scalp oil. I don’t know if this necessarily for everyone but I found it gave instant relief and I was in a really bad spot with my scalp so I was glad to give it a go.

I love the lemongrass scent! I let that soak in for about an hour before jumping in the shower to shampoo. It says to shampoo rinse, repeat and then wait 1-2 minutes before washing out. The first time there was no lather, after rinsing and repeating the shampoo process a glorious lather worked up.

Neither time did I use a lot of shampoo, just a dime sized amount for my long hair. It has a mild willow bark or witch hazel type smell but that doesn’t offend me or last long. My scalp felt a great bit of relief during the washing process.

My hair was very clean albeit dry and nearly chalky feeling after the washing but I went ahead with conditioner. The conditioner is scalp balancing so it says start at your roots and work to your ends.

It is not my usual technique but I gave it a go. It was such a comforting intense sensation on my wrecked scalp, and it had a pleasant earthy Rosemary smell that reminds me of Aveda products. After the whole process my scalp is really improving.

It’s not itchy or irritated (which is sadly the effect of many other products I had hoped would help in the past). It feels very clean and not overly oily, despite the deeper conditioning of my scalp.

I can’t boast great volume, however my hair has a vibrant glossy shine. The smell after blow drying is subtle and pleasant but very understated. If you suffer from scalp issues and find you like natural fragrance and products definitely give this a try.

I was super excited about this Vox Box! I have extremely dry and damaged hair from a few too many bleaches too close together to go from magenta to bright turquoise colored hair in a short period of time! The ingredients are ingredients.

I’m not one who is super concerned with ingredients; I’m more of a “does it work?” kind of person. The initial smell of the shampoo reminds me of sweet tarts. I actually almost thought about eating it.

Of course, it’s shampoo though and I’m an adult that knows better. I really enjoyed the lather of this shampoo as a little bit goes a long way, even when my hair typically sucks up anything I put in it immediately and I have to use two-three times the product.

I really didn’t notice too much of an effect on my hair when shampooing alone. It did feel a bit more moisturized before I conditioned it whereas other shampoos tend to just leave my hair feeling clean and stripped of moisture.

Overall, as part of a shower routine (I do not wash my hair daily), that includes the matching conditioner, leave-in balm, and once-a-week treatment, I noticed a big improvement in my hair with less flyaways (I have a bunch of broken hair so flyaways are EXTRA on me) and softer to the touch and so therefore, by the order of myself, I recommend this product for those who have dry hair!.

I struggle with oily hair and have used clarifying shampoos daily. The products I used would dry my hair out so I couldn’t live without a leave in conditioner. Since using both the shampoo and conditioner I no longer need to use a leave in.

I’ve been using American Crew for over 15 years, but the formula has now changed. This is NOT the same minty shampoo/conditioner you bought last time. This shampoo unfortunately smells like lemon pledge cleaning spray and leaves my hair feeling completely stripped.

The conditioner smells like orange tang powder, but is borderline pleasant. The bottle of shampoo I received was only a quarter full, and the box was in perfect condition so I know it didn’t leak during shipping.

They either have a QA problem, or a returned bottle made it back into the supply to be shipped out again which is an even bigger problem. I’ve reached out to Customer Support multiple times with no reply.

I haven’t used this product in a long time. I do remember it very clearly. I bought this at one of the discounted or liquidated stores. If I remember right it was either t. j. Maxx or Burlington. It is very Vivid in my imagination that I was trying to do everything to get rid of it.

I know it stayed in my downstairs bathroom with a little bit left in the bottle. I hated the residue that it left on my hair and the lack of my hair feeling clean after using this. My ex-husband was very bad about using the last of a product once it got down to the bottom of it.

It sat in his shower downstairs until one day I used the last of it. I always thought it was a product for men and that was a reason that I never bought it again. I thought maybe it was fine just for men and that’s why I didn’t work for me.

For many years I know people bragged about the Crew brand.

I bought the Paul Mitchell shampoo, it was recommended to me by a family friend, anyway I have both an oily scalp and the ends of my hair can get very dry, maybe due to overstyling, anyway I used this shampoo many times and it helped regulate my oily scalp, yet it didn’t dry my hair especially the end.

I did read the ingredient list and was pleased to see that it contained both a wheat protein (keratin) derivative and lemon, refreshing and a natural treatment for oily hair. This product is great for oily hair! I have an oily scalp and have wax buildup from the Aussie shampoos. This was making my hair extremely stringy and waxy, making my hair feel dirty within 24 hours.

I tried the tea tree oil Paul Mitchell shampoo and although it did seem to clear up some buildup, it made my scalp really itchy. The Shampoo Two isn’t thick so I had to use three or four pumps to massage my entire scalp.

The lady at Ulta also recommended I leave the product in for a minute or two which was great advice! My hair isn’t stringy nor is it waxy! You can still tell there’s buildup on my scalp, but I’ve only used this product for a day; so far so good.

My scalp is still a little bit itchy, but I’m hoping if I use this product consistently for a few weeks that might go away. All in all, if nothing is working for you try this shampoo. I have a sensitive scalp and thick wavy hair and this stuff seems to do the trick.

If you have wavy hair or curly hair I would also recommend using a wide tooth comb for your hair when you get out of the shower so it limits the amount of hair coming out as you brush it.

I have been having an awful time lately with my oily roots – to the point that even after washing, my hair still looked greasy! I used this & I am pleased to say that my hair looks great! I don’t care for the scent but I’ve never noticed a shampoo scent lingering in my hair anyway, so it’s not a big deal.

I am still on the hunt for a decent conditioner but I am thrilled to finally have clean looking hair & not have to wear it up or drown it in dry shampoo after having just washed it.

I’ve only used this for maybe 4 times since I wash my hair every other day, but it’s honestly doing wonders for hair already. My hair doesn’t feel super oily on it’s second day and I can probably extend my washes for more days if needed.

It is a bit too strong for me on its own so I like to mix it with water for a 1:1 ratio. Also follow the instructions; leave it on for a few minutes!.

I want to share my experience with Dercos. I’ve been suffering from dandruff since being a teenager, and Vichy Dercos anti-dandruff shampoo for normal or oily hair was always by my side. I’m a female and always had beautiful long hair, so visible dandruff is not something you want people to see! I use it now twice a week, in order to keep my dandruff in control, and I would strongly recommend it to anyone with similar issues.

Wow! Wow! Wow! As someone who suffers with an itchy scalp that often times turns flaky really easily I have used many anti-dandruff shampoo’s & usually the ones that work leave my hair straw like & really hard to manage.

Great shampoo! I have fine, dry, curly hair. I’m in the process of growing out my hair because of bleach damage, so about half of it is extra dry. I also wanted fragrance free shampoo, because I’m getting a lovebird and don’t want scented products to hurt my bird.

This shampoo cleaned my hair well, but wasn’t too stripping. I did find it a bit drying, but I find that to be the case with most shampoos. I also prefer a bit of stripping, because I know it’s getting rid of product buildup.

Again, it’s not super stripping. It also lathers, which I prefer. I always use a deep conditioner in the shower anyways, so I don’t mind if it’s a bit of a drying shampoo. But this truly has zero scent.

Just a bit of a raw ingredient scent. But barely.

I agree with other reviewers, this is not effective as a conditioner. However, it’s decent as a moisturizing shampoo. I asked for a refund when I realized it strips my hair and doesn’t work as a conditioner.

Vitacost was kind enough to refund the purchase price and allowed me to keep the product. I didn’t know what to do with it since it’s not effective (for me) as a conditioner, so I decided to try it as a shampoo because I noticed it really does strip oils away.

And. experiment successful! It cleans my scalp well and leaves my hair softer than if I’d used regular shampoo. It’s even tough enough to remove the tamanu oil I apply to my hair before washing to avoid overly drying my hair out.

So now I plan to use this conditioner as my shampoo at least once in a while, but I would not recommend it as a conditioner. I have thick hair that can easily be dried out but with the right products it can also be very soft.

It is sometimes curly and sometimes straight. If your hair is like mine, maybe try this as a shampoo. I’d probably give it a 4 star rating if it was being sold as a shampoo, but since it’s inefffective for its advertised use, I’m giving it 3 stars.

I’m sensitive to perfumes/scents and switched to this conditioner probably 5+ years ago because of that. (So many shampoos/conditioners have a strong smell that makes me feel ill. ) I was co-washing with it for a number of years, but I have switched hair routines but still include this one in my rotation.

I really like that I can add a drop or two of tea tree oil and/or peppermint oil to it and make a really great smelling conditioner that my dry scalp seems to appreciate. I hope they don’t stop making this conditioner because it’s great.

Fragrance smells and feels soft after wash

Worsened scalp, caused hair fallI write this review right after seeing out of my shower about a month into using this shampoo… as I walk over to throw this away. Awful. Over the last 2 years, I’ve reduced my hair fall tremendously and this shampoo had my drain FULL OF LOCKS.

I haven’t changed anything else in my routine and noticed my scalp feeling heavy a few hours after showering. This shampoo falls short on everything it promises as my irritated scalp got worse and new problems such as hair fall occurred.

It was my first time trying this brand after the hype and I’m so disappointed. Also beware of this company- I bought directly from the website and tried posting this review and they rejected it on no basis, without letting me discuss with customer representative.

Kay, so I began to see this product listed everywhere and finally tried it on my long, oil-factory hair- while I wasn’t immediately blown away, it really made a difference a few weeks in! I can now go three to four days without washing with some help from dry shampoo, and my hair looks and feels healthier and softer.

The ends especially make a difference, they feel hydrated rather than stripped and frizzed out. So it doesn’t kill the grease, I don’t know if any shampoo can. But it’s the shampoo you want if you’re trying to ‘train’ your hair to go longer without getting crazy oily.

I used it with the Kérastase Lait Vital conditioner, which is super lightweight. The true test will be the greasy city summer though. Pray for me.

I have adored Doori brand hair products ever since I found them at TJ Maxx a few years ago. Sadly, they are no longer in stock. Everything they make works great with my hair type, which is thin, pin straight, and somewhat oily.

Their products all make my hair “fluffy” unlike anything else I have tried. I didn’t hate this shampoo and I still feel like it is an excellent shampoo, so I gave it five stars. I just feel like the Doori acid shampoo I used to use worked better for me.

This is a concentrated-feeling sap-colored shampoo with a minty-herbal smell. It doesn’t control oil as well for me as the acid shampoo, which was pink and shimmery and smelled nicer. It is an economical purchase because the product is very concentrated compared with U.

S. drugstore shampoos. It suds very well.

Hello to whom this email may concern I just recently purchased multiple items from your respective company recently and one of those products notably was the just recently released Detox shampoo. I’m so exceedingly impressed with it that it begged the question as to if American Crew was entertaining the idea of possibly creating a line of bar soaps with that same lather intensive formula and scent profile as the Detox shampoo.

Possibly creating 3 distinct bars of soap being 1: Exfoliating 2: Clarifying 3: Moisturizing. Since I’m a professed bar soap guy as opposed to body wash I believe that I as well as many others would definitely be keen on anxiously purchasing high quality bar soaps from American Crew.

As far as shampoo and hair products are concerned I was wondering if you would be potentially debuting a line of hair growth products regimen in the same vein as Nioxin for those suffering from hair loss maybe using the new natural line American Crew just introduced with the Detox shampoo segment maybe even creating an all encompassing shampoo, conditioner, and serum spray or serum topical gel.

Lastly I was curious to see if American Crew was thinking about bringing to the masses a large economy size body lotion with the same scent as the Detox shampoo and maybe even a men’s antiperspirant/deodorant with the same citrus mint scent.

Again this is simply an inquiry about a possible future development with these stated products in mind because I’m sure that I’m not the only one out there who would be thrilled at the prospect of purchasing these potential items from American Crew.

Premise: I am not sure why it is so hard to find a good shampoo for oily hair. There used to be many competitive options years back like Herbal Essence shampoo for oily hair. Overall experience: I opened the beautiful bottle of Shampoo.

The shampoo when I used it the first time had a nice pancake texture and a soft smell of rotten cabbage. It reminded me of the smell my garbage can has when I open it to put new garbage in. It definitely has that putrid soft lingering smell.

Also does not lather up very well. I noticed that there was an intermittent texture of sand in the shampoo that occurred every time I used it. If you purchase this product you will also need to also purchase a good hair conditioner to go with it.

There is no lemon, or musk scent to cover the other permeating oder. Pros On the positive side it does clean my oily hair. I used it for a week hoping it would grow on me. I realized though after a week I would not be able to stand using it until it finally ran out.

I returned it and bought another product from a competing vendor. Bottom line, to be acceptable to me it has to smell good or not smell at all (not have a bad smell). It also must work to wash my oily hair.

Based on my experience not recommended.

I have oily hair and scalp not to mention an itchy scalp at times. I decided to give Maple Holistics natural shampoo for oily Hair and oily scalp. I like the way it works. It helps to reduce the oiliness in my hair and scalp.

To me the smell is not the greatest but after applying conditioner I don’t notice it.

For years (I am almost 83) I have had oily hair. Regular shampoo didn’t seem to help. I saw an advertisement for the “Degreaser” product and gave it a try. I am now on my second bottle and would highly recommend it! After shampooing, this product leaves your hair (and yes, I still have lots of hair) “squeaky” clean.

I have suffered with itchy, flakey scalp for as long as I can remember (at least 13 years) and having tried everything nothing worked so I just gave up. I used the Aveda Shampure and although this calmed my scalp down, it never actually helped solve the problem.

Until one day when this shampoo was on offer. I thought what have I got to lose. Best decision I made, as this has completely got rid of my itchy, flakey scalp. I stock up on this shampoo like no tomorrow as I cannot be without it.

When even I try using another shampoo my symptoms come and when I use this one again, my scalp is soothed after one wash. Try it!!.

Wouldn’t buy this again. Didn’t notice any difference and I don’t recommend for bleached hair. I used this on newly bleached hair and it really dulled the colour. I went back to using my Davines shampoo and after reading about shampooing your hair twice, this actually got rid of any dry skin on the scalp.

So may be worth people using their ordinary shampoo and just repeating the process?.

I have been looking everywhere for a shampoo for my daughters hair that will give her more time between washes. Her hair gets too oily too quickly for her age. (6) mine was also always the same. After trying a lot of shampoos.

I bought this. Even while drying our hair I noticed a huge difference. no residue at all. The next morning her hair still looked very clean. Normally looks dull and lifeless. Delighted with this shampoo.

such a great shampoo ! I regret not buying the biggest version. my hair feels so soft, shiny and clean after washing. Great product for dry curly hair that need hydratation.

Love it! It’s very refreshing for my scalp but also hydrating for my hair. I have dry hair but I can even use it without conditioner and it leaves my hair nice and smooth.

I haven’t used it but the shampoo smells really good. Can’t wait to use it!

I have tried many all in one shampoo & conditioners, some good, some not so good. T-Gel is really very good in my opinion. I do suffer from dandruff occasionally, sometimes quite bad. So it was well timed with this shampoo as I had bout of dandruff as I received the sample to test.

Even after the first wash I could see that my hair was much clearer. And silky soft. My dandruff was completely gone after the third wash. I haven’t tried a Gel shampoo before, but actually quite like it.

It has a really nice light fresh scent which was just about right. My hair seems to be in much better condition after using T-Gel instead of my usual shampoo. This is now my preferred shampoo.

First impressions: unnecessary packaging! Product came ina plastic bottle which seems sensible, however this bottle was also packed into a box, which seems unnecessary in the 5i. es of reducing packaging.

Not sue anyone would ever keep the bottle I a cardboard box in a wet bathroom! The scent of the product was clearly marked on the box, but I couldn’t see this information anywhere on the bottle itself which seems a bit odd.

Upon using the product, the fragrance was nice and refreshing, and the product produced a good lather, however my hair did not feel conditioned at all, which was disappointing for a 2 in 1 product. I did have to use additional conditioner to have any hope of getting a brush through my hair! Overall ok, but doesn’t do what it claims to.

The product comes in a cardboard package with the bottle itself inside. It gives an expensive feel to the item and the bottle itself has clear simple writing on, making it feel premium as well as making it clear the shampoo is no frills but does the job it should.

The liquid itself is thick so you will need a fair amount to get a good coverage but it massages in easily and washes away with no trouble. There is no odour which is a positive compared to other scalp itching products that can possess an unpleasant smell.

Perhaps something positive could have been added as a scent but I understand the ingredients are carefully chosen to serve the purpose. After using I had no itchiness at all and used every day to keep it that way.
