20 Best Cycling Gloves For Hand Numbness (2023 Updated)

I’ve been riding with Giro Bravo gloves for several years. Bought these to alleviate hand fatigue and wrist pain from riding on rough roads and these sure don’t help at all. There is plenty of padding and manufacturing quality is impressive, but pad thickness and placement seems to create excessive pressure on my palms which led to even more pain and numb fingers.

Quality and materials are good though but the padding may not be suitable for everyone.

Good morning. These gloves serve the purpose well. This is my repeat purchase of the same item – for multiday brevets. The supergel is very comfortable as it absorbs the shocks well. My previously purchased gloves are in good condition after using it for one year.

After 200 km on Mountain Bike with them, very satisfied. Very comfortable, great perspiration and cushion a lot (especially on long routes close to 90 km). They are also washable in the washing machine and the seams resist perfectly.

For now, happy with the purchase.

Unfortunately I haven’t been able to test these out for warmth as I bought them at the end of the cooler season, but they do seem windproof. They look to be shoulder season gloves as they are thin, not wafer thin, and there is no way you would be able to put a liner glove under them.

I do like that they are a little longer over the wrist, and also snug- wind and chill will not get in that way.

Month or so 5 mile commute use plus late winter / early spring rides in. Good fit in medium, look well made can’t comment on durability. Like the no Velcro neatness. Hands nice temp for a 5-6 degree 40 miler in Scotland.

Colder temps than that used a merino liner which worked well. Soak up the rain but not intended for deep winter. Great.

Good gloves for spring or fall. Very little padding, though. I have large hands, so I chose XL size . These gloves are very comfortable. Great quality material.

VALUE: Would I buy again? Yes, but. I think the price point is a bit high. There are cheaper options out there if you’re pinching pennies. DURABILITY: Some minor stitching has started to fray but I haven’t met a glove that hasn’t done this yet.

After a few crashes, they have held up well with no tears despite being thin. COMFORT: The palm has a very thin feel and doesn’t bunch up on me. They are snug but not tight as the stretchy material conforms to your hand.

it’s like another layer of skin. I like the ‘no-velcro’ cuff, which makes the a little tough to get on but I like not fooling with the adjustable closure wrist. PERFORMANCE: One of the better ‘minimalist’ gloves I’ve tried.

The device compatibility stitching in the pointer finger and thumb is a nice touch. PROTECTION: There’s no extra padding on the top part of the hand, which I like. So, if you’re looking for a glove delivering protection then look elsewhere.

I’ve been using these for a few weeks now. Initially slightly tight, but they open up and fit beautifully. They look great, are super comfortable and my hands feel free and unrestricted. I don’t ride dirt (yet), so I just use these in the street.

I ride year round and have worn these in 0 and just below 0 temps. not recommended haha. Anything over 5 degrees is awesome though. Highly recommend, can only imagine how awesome these would be on dirt bikes.

Love these gloves, a lot better than using normal gloves since I find them slippery on the bars and make it so I can’t use my phone’s screen. These have nice grippy sections for the brake and shifters.

I brought them for protection from falls when MTBing, which they have saved my skin a couple of times. But I found that they’re great for those frigid early morning rides. My only small complaint is that the sleeve is a bit short, but that’s probably because I’m used to motorbike gloves.

Got these in size L and found it to cause my hands to cramp. It was way wayyy to tight. I sized up to an XL and it fits like a glove (no pun intended). In terms of the material, it’s very breathable on the palm.

I found that to not be the case with other brands (pearl izumi and sportful). There is very nice gel padding in all the right spots if you are using drop handlebars. It has a soft padded material to wipe your nose whilst out riding.

Appreciate the attention to this detail as rough fabric would lead to rug burn of the nostrils (i speak from experience). Again, size up or two. Its European sizing and it doesn’t work for a lot of people.

some weird folds on the interior of the glove where different materials meet, becomes quite uncomfortable after a few hours of riding. This might be a defect specific to the pair of gloves I bought. I tend to expect higher quality from Castelli but they do have a these more “ordinary” products in their lines.

Runs a little small.

They feel great and the padding is just enough. The stitching did start coming apart of the side after my 3rd ride. MEC was great and the refunded my $ and I purchased a new pair. Hopefully it was just a defect as I do like the feel of this gloves.

Maybe 20-years ago I had very similar gloves that I used for biking and sailing. I was happy to give Aero Tech gloves a try as “hand numbness” while biking seems to increase with my aging. My first order was for LARGE (following the on-site instructions for estimating hand-size) and the initial fit seemed pretty good.

However, after 60-miles or so the gloves did not fit well and the padding did not align with my hands. The fingers of the glove pinched the webbing of my middle finger and ring finger. Nonetheless, I remained interested in this style of cycle glove and assumed the original order for LARGE was “too large”.

So, I ordered MEDIUM gloves and there was slight improvement in the alignment of the padding to my hand. However, after 100-miles or so the padding did not align with my hands and the webbing of my middle finger and ring finger were severely pinched.

Regretfully, I cannot recommend these gloves to a friend.

Pretty good. I got the xxxl size because that was available. The only problem is a couple of the finger holes are a little too tight even in that (for me) oversized glove. That was a problem with other sizes as well.

I’ve bought maybe 4 or 5 pair of this style. I do long distance rides, up to 600 miles in 3 days. The padding and protection is really good. One thing. How to wash these. leather, Velcro, etc. I’ve settled on washing machine, hand wash setting, air dry.

But they shrink. I use baby oil to lube them up after washing. all that is a pain but I feel the quality and comfort is worth it. Regarding the fingers. I’m 70 and have worked with my hands a lot. my finger thickness, especially at the joints, make these hard to get off.

Especially when they are sweaty. It would be nice if the finger holes were bigger.

When I saw these gloves on the Aero Tech website I just had to buy them. I always liked this style of glove but haven’t seen them for years. I love the extra thick padding which has virtually eliminated numb hands on the bike.

The crocheted back provides good ventilation. To start with the gloves cut in between the fingers but seems to have gone away with use. There are some threads coming away on the crocheted back already but I think these can easily be secured back into the glove.

I haven’t washed them yet. There are no instructions for washing them but I think I will wash by hand.

These gloves are pretty nice, I ordered small version and they fit my hands nicely. Having no padding they don’t provide great cushioning against vibrations, but I feel that the grip over the bars is enhanced.

I ordered these in white and there’s differences with the pictures shown in the website. The gloves I received have a white grip surface as opposed to black as shown in the picture. The thumb and the lower part of the outer surface is black as shown, just the gripping side is white as well.

After a couple uses this white grip has gotten murky similar to the way white bartape does with use. Personally I don’t mind the white grips, as I feel it gives me more visibility whenever I do hand motions in traffic, and whatever helps keep me alive is good in my book.

I have to add that originally I thought I would miss having a velcro strap and that these would be lose, but so far they have been great. I really like the little loops by the fingers that help remove the gloves, they come off swiftly.

Gloves are reasonable quality and seem well made. Only worn for a couple of rides and they do the job they were designed for. The only negative is the size I chose after following the sizing methods advised, is fairly tight (S) and some numbness was experienced.

I have since given them to my daughter!.

These gloves are like a second skin. They fit well without anything extra. Glad I ordered a large as they run slightly small.

I got these for biking in fall. My fingers were freezing at about 55-60 degrees. The material is not very thick, and for some absurd reason, it is much thinner in the fingers than the rest of the gloves.

The *fingers*, which get cold the fastest, have the lightest material. And the sides of the fingers have an even thinner, almost breathable material. I don’t understand. Whose fingers are getting sweaty before the rest of their hand?? This makes no sense.

The thin and breathable material should be on the palm, and the fingers should be as thick and insulated as possible! Also, the fit was very weird. I normally wear a L in gloves and have never have an issue with fit.

With these, gloves the fingers were very long (extending at least an inch beyond my fingertips) as well as weirdly boxy and stiff. This meant my fingertip didn’t make contact with the touchscreen transfer material, so I couldn’t use a touchscreen at all.

These gloves only really offer a thin layer around your entire hand and fingers, plus a gel padding. So they could be more “protection” gloves for the summer, rather than “warmth” gloves for the colder seasons.

I tried these alongside the REI Co-op Junction Wind Cycling Gloves, which cost the exact same. Surprisingly, the REI gloves were MUCH better. They are better insulated, softer, the fit is more normal, they work surprisingly well with a touch screen.

everything these Pearl Izumi gloves should have been. Honestly just go buy the REI wind gloves.

I have the previous model of those and it’s worn out after 3 years of very regular using for a half of each year (about 5k kms) and washed them regularly. Actually, although they would need a lot of stiching here and there, I’m still using them now while I’m waiting for the new pair to arrive.

First and foremost the producer explained the model to have the softshell layer back of hand only, so if you don’t have your bar fully isolated, your hands will freeze even in moderate temperatures. After my first ride when I’ve experienced that, I did immediately cover my bar ends with a protective foam and the problem went away.

My hands are between Medium and Large sizes and I took the Large one. That exactly matches my fingers length but is not exactly fit around my hands. Maybe that’s good as otherwise it might have been colder for them? As a downside of that I can’t really do anything requiring a surgical precision while wearing them.

I don’t use touch screen devices so can’t say anything about.

When picking these gloves I read a ton a reviews that said they were warm, cold, and everything in between, so I thought I’d add my experience. Across the board they do a great job blocking wind, and made early morning rides much more bearable.

The padding is comfortable, and they fit true to size. 55-60+ degrees these are hot once you get your heartrate up. From about 45-55 they are extremely comfortable. Down closer to 45 your finger tips will get cold, especially in the beginning of the ride.

Once you get down to about 40 degrees, they are still warmer than nothing but my fingers tips all went numb even at the peak exertion point of my ride. So I’d say about 45 is the lowest I’d go and expect to be fully comfortable.

Louis Garneau is, in my opinion, the “less well-known” of the bicycle apparel manufacturers, and yet their products are high quality and not as pricey. what’s wrong with that?? I have three pairs of these BioGel Gloves, and they serve me on my indoor trainer, on my road bike, and even on my mountain bike! Material is top-notch, fitting is superb, and durability is excellent.

I bought these gloves for two purposes: cycling/mountain biking, bagging peaks. I wore them for the first time bagging Mount Borah and they were awesome! They held up to the sharp rocks and protected the palms of my hands well.

They have ample padding – not too much, but not too little. It seems like it’s hard to find just a standard biking glove these days, because there are so many options. This is a good overall glove!.

Very good value gloves, the padding is in just the right places and not too bulky. Sizing wise, the size guide put me at the bottom of the Large size, tried these first and too small so returned them and ended up with Extra large.

The size guide goes finger to wrist, whereas other manufacturers use the across the knuckles dimension. this is probably more useful for a Mitt glove.

Seem good quality and comfortable but time will tell. 5* for gloves, no stars for Halfords. Bought inshore, price £25 when scanned came up as £29. 99 then hard work to get credit and to rub salt in the wound looked online and could buy for £20 pick up at same Halfords store.

No wonder people shop online.

I got these gloves for hot weather cycling, since it’s fall now, I haven’t tried them. I used the sizing guide and I still found them on the tighter side across the span of my palm. They were tight enough to struggle getting them on and off.

I imagined that in hot weather it would be worse, so I returned them. other than that, they looked really nice and light with good palm padding.

I’ve used these once so far on a flat bar bike ride. They felt nice and quite pillowy at first. I feel that there will be some break-in period to stretch a bit. The fit is nice. Had some numbness after about 40 mins.

I’m looking forward to a ride on a road bike to test further.

Comfortable gloves with just the right amount of padding for my taste, no too much or too little. I am a size large and ordered a size large. These fit a little tight, but still ok. Of you are in between, size up, my hands aren’t real big.

I’ve used these heavily over one MTB season and am very pleased. They have held up very well and I will be buying more of these for sure! They do start out a bit snug but stretch to fit just perfect after a few rides.

Good grip and no annoying inside seams like some other MTB gloves I’ve used in the past. Good stuff. Dakine is becoming my favorite clothing brand. I have been impressed every time I purchase anything from Dakine.

I say this as I always loved Pearl izumi previously but started exploring other brands as I haven’t been as impressed in the last few years by their products.

These are probably great gloves for some people, but weren’t what I was looking for and didn’t fit. They fit smaller than other gloves (including Dakine) that I’ve had and were really hard to get on; I imagine they would stretch out a bit though.

I ended up returning them as they were too small and after purchasing, I also realized they also didn’t have padding, which I was looking for. They felt like good and durable gloves though, just not what I need.

These gloves fit great and a super comfy. Maybe a little ugly though. After dealing with major quality issues on these, I tried my Fox Ranger gloves again, and man are the Dakine ones so much better.

Speaking of quality issues, I’ve logged 5 2h rides on these so far without crashes or the gloves ever touching the ground, and the stitching has failed in the following places: left index finger tip, right wrist under palm (tore out on first ride, even though I used the reinforced pull tab to put them on), right wrist on side below thumb, left back of hand behind thumb.

The brake lever grippy material on the left index finger has already flaked apart as well. It’s pretty shocking how poorly these are made.

I have some other gear from LEATT so I was happy to try these riding gloves. They appear well-built and are comfortable to wear. They were a little bit tough to slip on because they do not have a Velcro strap but that’s one less thing that won’t wear out.

I’m sure it will stretch a bit as I wear them. The palm material is almost like a microfiber and they almost feel glued to my grips. The backing material is nice and breathable and the knuckle padding is a must up here where we ride in between a lot of trees and brush on our single track.

Your hands can get pretty beat up so this helps. I also really like their color offerings and this rust color is awesome. On a high note it matches pretty closely to the Kashima coat on my fox suspension.

Love these gloves. I haven’t really worn anything like them before. They have a natural, second skin feel—thin but not flimsy. Grippy palms. Feels like heat transfers out of them really well. Lightweight but functional knuckle padding.

my only complaint is the thumbs are a little short for my hands! Like 2mm more room and they’d be perfect. Maybe I’m just blessed with rare banana-thumbs.

Neat auto decompost package. Right off the bat, you can feel how light these gloves are. I thought they are light leather gloves. Great looking gloves! Matches my Sand Leatt 4. 0 clip shoes. Molded rubber on the knuckles.

Microngrip is surprisingly grip with mu WolfTooth Fat Paw grips. I could probably fit my hands in their Medium.

Cheap gloves that do their job well. Used around 0degC. On an 8mile road commute and for mountain biking. Not got them wet yet. I swear by the thicker winter gloves for general use for all but the most extreme weather.

Excellent gloves, providing reasonable warmth down to probably 4-5c; anything significantly colder and you start to feel it but I’m not likely to be riding when it’s that cold. Not yet worn in the rain.

Really want to like these but they are too big. I’m in between Medium and Large and went up a size as recommended by a Trek employee I chatted with before purchasing. Should have went with the medium.

I cut the labels out because they are ridiculously long and got in the way to get a real feel. Would like to swap out for the smaller size but my LBS is out of stock and don’t want to hassle with returning to Trek, wait for a refund then repurchase the correct size.

Should have gone with my gut and bought the medium because the back material has a lot of stretch and doesn’t ‘fit like a glove’.

Very happy with these, one of my favourite pieces of kit at the moment and easily the best pair of road gloves I’ve owned. I love the soft material, the high viz touches and they appear well put together.

Have mainly used them commuting by road and cyclo-cross bikes to date.

I really like these gloves. They are cool and comfortable, easy to get on and off, and just forgettable when worn. The palm padding is good, and I like the middle finger tabs for removing them. I would buy them again.

I purchased the Bontrager Circuit Women’s Twin Gel Cycling Gloves, size small for road biking. They are extremely comfortable and fit my smaller hands really well!

Used these gloves for a 4 hr run. Still had to swap hand positions around a bit but much less numbness than usual. Size true. Glad I bought 2 pair.

Love these gloves, I actually ordered these after a nasty fall I took earlier this summer and used my hand to break my fall, my hand came out unscathed, not one single cut or scrape or even scratch on my palm.

They fit snug, they look great, they work just great!.

These fit well and are going to work well for my road biking. Not as much padding as some and probably not as rugged as you’d want for mountain bi but suits my needs.

I ordered a pair of Large Deflect gloves and went to pick them up at the store. Unfortunately, I received a pair of LEFT hand gloves, one was Large and one was X-Large. Luckily, they were the same color! Mike’s Staff was awesome! The distribution and quality control of Mikes not so much! I think someone needs to really pay attention to the details of sizing and making sure both sides are present in the order.

I assume these were a return item and someone didn’t pay attention to the gloves. Unfortunately, Mike’s didn’t have a comparable pair for me and I left ungloved.

I returned the gloves after using them twice (first time was bad, second time to give it a second chance). The fit is poor. I ordered large, which is what I use in every other brand. The top of the glove, form the middle of the palm to the fingertips had a good fit, but the bottom half not quite: they are way to narrow around the thumb effectively putting stress on the thumb throughout the ride (and you can recognize this even as you put on the gloves).

In addition, I rode at 45F any my fingertips were freezing, it was painful. On the plus side the material and the padding are good, and the construction is robust.

I used to have this model of glove From 8 years ago which had a red cuff liner that was well built and long lasting. The factory where these are made must have changed because these now have a black cuff liner and easily fall apart at the part where the strap on the cuff is stitched down.

The ones I bought 8 years together had better stitching and better materials and never broke along stitching and instead wore down more gracefully. The old version also had handy clips to hold the gloves together to help keep them from getting separated and lost.

These new ones are not worth paying full price for.
