20 Best Cutting Board Material For Meat (2023 Updated)

This time of year, I prepare lots of winter squash from the family farm. We have these hybrid varieties with stone hard shells (curing them made them even tougher). It takes several forceful cleaver strikes to get through them.

And this thick cutting board is perfect for this task. because I don\’t want to ruin my countertop. It provides a stable cutting surface that stays flat, no matter how hard I bring that cleaver down on it.

Fantastic cutting board! The 24″ x 18″ size is perfect for larger cutting tasks. At home, I use this on my kitchen island table for two to cut simultaneously, and it works perfectly. It is also reversible so that you can flip it over when you want to switch from vegetables/fruit to meats.

Be mindful that being 1 3/4″ thick, this is a heavy board. It has nice handle grooves to help you carry it, but it’s definitely not an easy “pick up to slice a couple of apples” type of board. Also, the board comes quite dry and will require a solid amount of oil before first use.

I noticed a very thin crack line run through the short edge of of mine, but the board is completely stable and doesn’t have any risk of splitting. For the price, I would recommend this board 100%. Just oil regularly and treat it right, and you’ll be able to use this for years to come.

Very disappointed with the durability of this cutting board. The very first roast I sliced on this cutting board left deep scratches and score marks to the point the surface is no longer smooth. Also the board is not made of wood but apparently a cheap plastic composite.

It looks nice, and fits well in the holder on the side table but that is it.

I bought this about 2 weeks ago to go with my Weber collection of products, I was excited to get this cutting board and decided to use it to cut some pork loins and found afterword the surface was all knifed up.

I’m not sure at this point if I should even continue to use it as I do not want that composite in my food. I will try to return for an exchange but I hope another board wont do the same thing. as I said I only used this one once.

Excellent quality product. Exactly as described. A slight redesign would make it perfect! Firstly a slightly deeper edge trough to catch juices. Secondly a hand grip/indent to ease lifting tray when in use.

At Christmas I bought one for my son as a gift and had it shipped to him. I purchased one for myself but I did not check the shipping address before submitting and it ended up going to him as well. So he has two concave boards and absolutely loves them.

He has one outside in the patio area for Summer and one inside on his kitchen Island. He was so surprised and just raved about how thoughtful I was. I didn’t have the heart to ask for one back because of my mistake.

I have the larger oval board, but could not resist getting the small as well at a clearance price. Wowee, what a deal! Architec boards are very nicely made, with big stabilizing pads on the four “corners.

” The concavity is invisible to the eye and you don’t feel it either, when chopping or slicing. However the center holds liquid/juices exactly as claimed so nothing is wasted and mess is non-existent.

What a terrific idea. I love Architec cutting boards. I got two on clearance, so some lucky cook I know is getting a cool gift.

I watched this presentation one Sunday with David in the kitchen. At 62 yrs. old thinking i already had “everything” anyone could possibly need in my kitchen, Mark doing the demonstration by pouring a “cup” of gravy onto this cutting board it WORKED just as perfectly as it did that day.

Plus it is of high quality wood and the dip/concave is NOT barely noticeable to the eye, PLUS the backside has 4 rubber pads that hold the entire board in place! I am so happy i called at that moment with all my many cutting boards i already have are now replaced with NO regrets! First of all, this cutting board is made of good quality material. The issues I find are the following: When cutting juicy vegetables such as tomatoes, onions, and avocados will leave the cutting board slightly wet and must be dried before starting another project.

The other issue I found was that this cutting board can leave a stain on the surface if it is not immediately washed off. Fruits such as blueberries, cran-berries and blackberries will leave a stain on the cutting board.

So I would advise the user to take steps to prevent any stain if you want the cutting board to remain stain-free. Otherwise, this cutting board is essentially a great product that will endure for a long time.

This is a high quality board for use in Commercial food service. I ordered the 18″ X 24″ X 1/2″board. For my needs at home, I customized the board’s size and shape to fit my kitchen sink and added a tray/strainer.

Mounting the boards over the sink gave me added work-space in an already space-challenged kitchen. The 3 trays came with my wooden cutting board, (also pictured). I customized both boards to fit my domestic sink and cut an opening in the plastic board to accomodate the tray.

The trays were solid, so I drilled one of them for a strainer. This kind of commercial board adapts easily to this kind of modification as it can be worked with simple traditional tools. in my case, a hand saw, drill and sander.

I plan to store these boards via an aluminum “U” channel mounted to the side of the upper cabinets on either sides of my sink for “easy-access” when needed and “out-of -the-way” when not. I’m VERY pleased with the end result! If you are handy, this should be a simple customization, but the Board sold as is, is a great buy.

The size was just a little larger than I was expecting but it was very nice. I picked up my cutting board oil and treated the wood. It was very nice for about 3 weeks. I go out for one night and come back, the board is warped.

The cutting board is now in a “U” shape. So, many of my large knives cannot get a flat surface to cut on. The outer edges are falling apart and this was just a waste of money. It’s really sad because I really liked the cutting board up until it became worthless.

Maybe I will use it for firewood when winter comes.

Rough surface out of the box – would have expected it to be smooth and oiled but it was like raw wood. Not a nice feel. Have sanded and oiled myself and it improved. I think with 1-2 more rounds of sanding and oiling and it will be nice – this should be done by manufacturer though.

Other than the surface finish, it looks great and rubber feet are handy. The juice catching trough around the edges is nice but makes cleaning trickier than a flat board. Overall nice for the price though.

Amazed – this board is sooo great – better than expected. Really well made. Substantial. Large size is great. I’ve used it to roll out dough. Cut small and large loaves of bread, grilled meat. Chopping veggies.

I had previously had a bamboo board and liked it for its durability, resistance to knife cuts, easy cleanablity and attractiveness. Nevertheless, it was smallish and I often ran out of real estate while working on large cuts of meat.

No longer. This thing has all of the above properties and adds size enough to accommodate the largest chunks of meat I can use. Its drip channels and collection sink for juices have a useful capacity, and board sauces are simple with this setup.

If there is any downcheck, it’s the size. This is a BIG and HEAVY piece of gear: it’s sometimes awkward to clean in any but the largest sinks, so you can end up with soapy water all over your counter.

Juggling it can be a little dicey when it’s wet. And finding a place for it to hibernate between uses is tricky because of the generous footprint–the obvious counterpoint to the utility its size provides.

All things considered, and adding its utility as a serving and presentation piece at table, it’s worth its price. (If nothing else, it’s pretty enough to leave out on the countertop. ) If Camp Chef were to offer something about 20% smaller, it would still be quite useful but a bit more wieldy.

If you can accommodate to its size and weight, you’ll find it a very useful and enjoyable cooking tool.

Very high quality, I love that it has a large workspace. Perfect for keeping rib mess off the counters. Also has a large enough area to chop up all ingredients for salsa, the outer edge has the integrated channel, to keep liquids from running off.

It sits perfectly on top of my pellet hopper om my woodwind, so I do not need to roll out a separate table. I would leave it on my counters all the time because it looks so nice, but I have limited counter space so it goes in the cupboard.

I really do love this board. Unfortunately it came after I smoked my brisket. (Long story) It sits out on the counter and is used for everything from simple sandwich making to cutting vegetables for a meal.

Can’t wait to use it for slicing a newly smoked meat!.

Have been using a plastic chopping board for quite a while; this bamboo chopping board is definitely a fantastic replacement. Love the fact that there is no more spillage!

Does the job without sliding as you’re cutting your food. The fact that it accumulates a small amount of liquid makes the process a lot less messy.

This is a GIGANTIC Board!!! Did not pay attention to the measurements but. when I got it. was PLEASANTLY Surprised. I LOVE My Cutting Board!!! I can literally cut up ANY and ALL chopping jobs @ one time w/ this board!!! I plan to get the maximum use out of My new board!!!.

This thing is big! Large enough to carve a turkey or slice a rib roast but still just small enough to clean pretty easily in a home kitchen sink. Ive run it through the dishwasher twice and it is still nice and flat, hasnt bowed at all.

I have a very small kitchen. I needed a cutting board to fit over my double sink. I use the space for cutting, setting bowls etc. To give me a little extra room. Absolutely perfect.

The wood felt much softer than I would have expected by the description. Upon first use and cleaning, wood raised, splintered, making it useless for the future. The single star was awarded for the very desirable deep trench around the board perimeter–which is very useful when a meat has been cooked just right! If mailing costs were not so excessive, I would return this item.

Very nice cutting board set. I treated it with cutting board oil, and conditioner, upon receipt. Since then, I’ve used a cleaver on the large one several times. There are no dings on it, which leads me to believe this will be quite durable if I take proper care of it.

I also love the juice groove. I chop and dice a lot of veggies per week, and the smaller boards are also holding up. For me, the set is a keeper.

I love the size and shape of this board. I didn’t believe it could hold 2 cups of liquid and had to see it for myself, and it definitely does what it says it does. The concave center is so subtle, you can’t see or feel it, so it doesn’t interfere when using it.

The only down side for me, it is hard to pour drippings off the board like a cutting board with straight sides, but not a deal breaker for me.

I used this for something else. I used this material to make dash panels for a large fishing boat. It worked perfect, I bought 3 of these and cut them into 5 pieces to house gauges and switches. It has great strength and looks great.

Price for comparable Marine Material made out of the same material would have cost 5 times as much. I bought these on a hunch they would be good for my use and was totally surprised at how well they actually worked.

I will purchase more of these.

Excellent cutting board. Good quality. I ordered the cutting board to be used in the kitchen sink of a travel trailer. Had to make a few cuts to custom fit into ledge of sink. Material sawed extremely well with a jigsaw equipped with a fine-toothed blade.

No tearing or damage to the edge.

This thing is amazing! It is the toughest, most durable cutting board. It is thick, dense, heavy. For the price I was pleasantly surprised!

Does not move around when you are cutting. Very easy to clean. Very durable and doesn’t stain like most cutting boards. This cutting board is also the perfect size if you need to cut large fruits and vegetables or larger size meats.

I just received this cutting board yesterday but couldn’t wait to write this review. This is a beautiful board. The wood is really good quality, although it is not from a single piece. It is sanded beautifully and well made.

It sits level and doesn’t rock at all. I have been looking for a board like this for some time and this is at an affordable price range.

Really nice cutting board. Liked that it was elevated by the rubber encased feet, except that during shipping some of the legs were damaged. Webstaurant Store customer service was fantastic. Replaced the board quicker than a lightning bolt.

Couldn’t have imagined this level of customer service, other companies need to follow their example. Enjoying the board, conditioner was easy to apply and clean up is a breeze.

I originally bought these for carving stations on buffets to catch any juices that came out of the meats. Which they do well. I’ve had them for over a year now and we still use it for that purpose as well as crudité or cheese boards.

They give a nice presentation and haven’t warped from constant washing. I would buy again if needed.

I have always used Epicurean cutting boards and they are fine. I wanted to see what all the hoopla was about Bamboo – and I am very glad I did. The quality of this board is excellent but I especially like the way it cleans up – very easy with no “splotches” or grease marks.

And my knives – and they are really good knives – just don’t seem to mark the board.

Just got it and it looks pretty nice. Seasoning it with motor oil so it will last. Not sure if I should use synthetic or Dino so I went old school with Dino.

Though it is a little heavy, which is also the good news because it is quite sturdy, I LOVE this cutting board for camping. It is great to use out on the picnic table to prep dinner, because it is so large.

Surprise! It came in a box labeled “Baby Highchair” so I didn’t open it at first. Finally I did and it is wonderful. The size is larger than I was able to find in regular stores, and it is not warped and stained.

I used it the first day I received it! I love how big it is; great working space! Easy clean up and, despite how large it is, it fits in my pull-out cupboard perfectly. So glad I chose this one.

My brother knows me so well! He gave this to me for my birthday this year and it’s the best gift! I was really needing a new cutting board. This cutting board is so great! It’s very sturdy, very heavy and really solid! I use one side for cutting and the other I have been using for charcuterie.

It’s so beautiful and because of the size, it makes such an impressive display. The coloring and quality are gorgeous. A well thought out gift given with such love! Including the oil so I can keep to clean and in excellent condition! Always wipe with a damp rag, never submerge your cutting board, then a nice thin coat of oil to keep it moisturized and the wood won’t warp or split.

There are few kitchen products that I would describe as a thing of beauty and a kitchen essential but, my Boos Block maple cutting board is definitely one. I have owned many cutting boards over the years, plastic and woods ones that discolor, develop knife marks, slide around when using them and I hide when not in use.

The glass cutting boards don’t discolor but dull knives. The Boos Block board is wonderful. To start it’s a great size for almost anything I’m chopping. It has enough weight, so it does not slide around and when you are pounding out some meat on it, it absorbs the impact.

I like the two groves on the sides so it can easily be lifted and or flipped to use the other side. Before my first use, I have been following the instructions on sealing the wood with the Boos Block wax and oil and have found that nothing to date, has left a stain on the surface of the board.

A little soap and water and it look like new again. The maple is soft enough so its gentle on knife blades but hard enough that I have yet to damage the surface from cutting on it. The quality of the maple and manufacturing of the board is top notch.

I leave my Boos Block out on the counter when not in use as an accent in the kitchen. It’s adds a little flare to the room like you see in those design shows and food magazines. This will be the last cutting board I will ever need.

Note, purchased this product not for it’s originally intended use – – I have a drive-on tournament ski boat with a ‘nose’ bump-stop as a bow stop. Most inboard trailers for these type of boats incorporate these bow stops, but they’re carpet covered plywood and over time and use, the elements take their toll.

As an alternative, some manufacturers offer an after-market alternative in plastic, but they want over one-hundred dollars for them. Given they’re the same plastic material as cutting boards, I just bought these as an effective and cost-efficient alternative and better yet, I was able to get a color to match the trailer versus the plain black color the after-market folks offer.

I just cut them to shape using the originally equipment as a template, drilled the holes and mounted them to the bow-stop on the trailer. Result? Better than new form, fit and function!!! Works out great and will last much longer than plywood.

Nice, substantial, flat and level but it really moves around on the counter. Could use some grips of some sort to keep it in place.
