20 Best Curtains To Keep Heat Out (2023 Updated)

I was so pleased with the workmanship and fabric of my new black-out curtains. Just one other commend concerns the color given as “beige”. It is more of a taupe than a beige. This was a disappointment and I will probably give them to my daughter who has a taupe color throughout.

In the meantime I will search for a true “BEIGE”…. hopefully as well made as yours. J. Quinn.

Surprised by the quality. The material is thick and they truly do block out the light. I was impressed. I bought the gray. They are a nice shade of gray. I would 100% buy these again.

Very nice curtains, hoping to save some heating costs with these. They are well made and have a luxurious feel to them. Gold constellations give a little sparkle to the look of the curtains. Not sure how thermal they are as they don’t feel very thick but triple weave might make them warm enough.

These curtains were just what I wanted! Quality made through and through. They met my expectations quite nicely. Needed blackout curtains that didn’t have that weird thermal fabric on the back side. Grommet style.

The gold constellation pattern on the one side added just the right amount of sophistication. highly recommend.

These were the perfect drapes for my newly painted livingroom and diningroom which adjoin. I never had the thermal type before and really like them. I was ready for a change from my old curtains and the new drapes are so sophisticated.

I would recommend them to everyone.

I was ready to return these because after I ordered them, I noticed one hidden picture on a review that showed a black liner. So beware, from the outside, you will have a black curtain! And I was using them in our large living room windows.

Also, as others noted, “white” is more of a pearly gray. I happen to love it next to my darker gray walls. I decided to keep my sheer white curtains in the middle and close the blackouts for privacy at night.

It looks less like a shower curtain. And I used 3 panels per window. I was pleasantly surprised at the feel and quality of these. I don’t usually like shiny curtains but this has the right amount of sheen.

And as long as you thread them with the seams inside, they look fine from the street. (otherwise you see the white against black seams). I haven’t tried to iron these yet, as you can see. I haven’t had much success ironing with a “cool iron” in the past and it’s a pain.

These pics are right out of the bags. Overall, I was expected to be disappointed with this delivery and ended up being thrilled! These will provide the nighttime privacy I want and look very nice during the day! As long as you’re aware of the color and black liner, I think you’ll be happy with these for the price! I am!.

Calling something “Sun Zero” implies that these are “blackout” curtains. I can only hope that this part of the description will be more accurate. “The woven solid design reduces light and noise for better sleep.

” I will say these curtains barely block out any light. As other reviewers have mentioned, these are basically sheers. It’s too much of a hassle to refold these curtains to put them back in the package to return them.

So I will just keep them to hopefully add some heating and cooling conservation to the other curtains that I was going to replace.

Superior- Waverly room darkening thermal blackout grommet 2 piece curtains panels are the best I’ve ever had. I can not sleep in a room that has an light at all. These keep the light Completely out! The beautiful color (grey) and designs class up my room.

They are heavy duty and very well made. The stitching is great. The grommets are strong and large enough for any size curtain rods. I’ve tried many blackout curtains in the past these are by far the best.

I will be investing in more for the rest of my place. Highly recommend.

The Waverly Room Darkening Thermal Blackout Curtain set is very nice. The grey color is just the right shade and would fit with any decor. The curtains have a nice texture and were easy to install. These are perfect for any room.

I installed mine in my den because they are great at keeping the sunlight out of the room when we are watching tv, enjoying a movie or just taking a nap. I will definitely purchase another pair to put in my room.

I think these are great at blocking out light and keeping the room cool as well.

I cannot say enough good things about these curtains. They have a lovely drape from the weights in the bottom. You csn’t tell from this picture but they look elegant and expensive in person. They are very high quality.

I ironed them before hanging and they looked great right away. These windows have a 100×108 on each end and 52×108 in between the windows. The rods are 10″ on either side of the window. The double wides on the end definitely add to the quality of the look.

These windows get tons of afternoon sun and it gets dark like a movie theater. The blackout is truly blackout. Again i purposely purchased them with extra yardage on width. The entire window is 117″ and all 4 curtains together are 300″ wide.

Don’t skimp on width if you can help it. We will be purchasing in other colors for additional rooms in the house.

These drapes are beautiful. The color is exactly as described-Mallard which is a grayish emerald green and a great neutral. I love the thickness of the material which makes these blockout light. There is no sheen to fabric making them usable for multiple looks casual to fancy.

These can be hung by tab top or pocket rod. Best of all the price is GREAT for a set and received these within a week.

Delivery time was exactly when promised. The curtains were packaged well. Each curtain came in an individual zipper bag. Which I like for future storage. The color was as advertised. And a pack of curtain hooks are added if you wish to use as pinched pleats.

The best parts of the curtains are the back tabs on the pocket. The fabric is soft to the touch and the curtains are BLACKOUT curtains. Not light filters. My bedroom window faces the SE and I get sun from sunrise to around 3 pm.

The curtains help with keeping the sun out and my bedroom feels a bit cooler. In the photos there is a comparison to an older curtain you can see the difference. Bu the way, the wrinkles will fall out in a day or so.

I am more than pleased with my purchase.

The curtains themselves are nice and thick and feel like quality material. I will say, however, that the light pink color is not like pictured, it’s more of a “it’s a baby girl!” Pink if that makes sense.

I was expecting a very soft pink to go with my other blush decor but this is definitely not that! Tried to get a picture but the lighting adjustments on the camera make it seem softer than it is. Still works well at keeping the light out though!.

I purchased these while working overnight and nobody told me how dangerous they’d become ! I would get off with the sun already out so once I closed these I would automatically pass out because it blocked the sun so well, WELLLL, nobody told me they work so well to the point that you’d sleep through your whole next shift ! Lmao so definitely worth buying , just purchase a good alarm clock with it !.

“Love” is the word to use! These curtains replaced brown thermal curtains in my great room/theatre room. I couldn’t ask for anything better. It completely blocks out the sunlight through my three large triple-windows and French doors here in sunny south Florida.

The material is so rich looking and drape beautifully. The thermal lining is unique in the same color, rather than the white thermal I had and seems to be doing a great job. Even acoustically it appears to make a difference.

I love love love this curtain. I have a huge window in my bedroom and I did not want three of the same panel. I guess I’m weird that way. However, my outside panels are the same color, same pattern with a shimmery look.

This panel fit perfectly. The material is soft but heavy. Looks and feels elegant. Plus, not a single ray of light seeps through it. Perfect for someone who works nights.

I bought these curtains thinking they’d look great after renovations and painting but so disappointed. Very cheap material. Don’t look well made. The panels are very thin not sure if they’d even work to completely block out sun.

I was originally shocked because I thought what a fantastic deal. 2 panels at that price. Unfortunately, my husband was right you get what you pay for. These are not worth it! Very disappointed!.

Very pretty design, however the material is not as thick as I expected. They also do not totally block out the light. I decided to keep them anyway. They do look good in my bedroom.

I love these curtains, they are different than an ordinary tab top. They are heavy and thick. They look really expensive, but they were priced reasonably ! I would definitely recommend them

These were exactly what I wanted until a workman touched one panel with a dirty hand. It was just the red clay dirt from around my house, so I tried to blot it off with water without taking the curtains down.

When that didn’t work, I took the panel down and washed the dirty area in cool water in the bathtub. The tags say you can machine wash it in cold water, so I figured this was safe. As instructed, I hung it to dry.

When I hung the panel up again, it was a full inch shorter on the side I’d washed. After repeated attempts to stretch it with a steam iron, it’s now only half an inch shorter. I don’t know what I’ll do when the curtains get dirty from normal use as I clearly can’t clean them according to the instructions.

We are so glad that we finally ordered these curtains! The apartment in which we live does not have good insulation, as it was built in the 1970’s and has not been updated with present day products. When the curtains were hung, as I suspected, the heat from the hot air baseboard went up underneath the bottom of them.

Praise to Alien Tape which we applied to the window sills. Now the heat stays in the room and the cold air does not come in; however, the baseboard heater, of course, does not heat up as quickly as would be nice, due to inadequate insulation.

Just bought the tap top in linen. Beautiful neutral color true to the picture. 54″ was exactly what I needed to come just below the window sill and they were true to measurement. I did wash them out of the package to get the wrinkles out.

Washed as directed and hung to dry. The material is quality and does up very nice. I did run the iron over the material side to help with wrinkles but it was very easy to iron. They drape well at the window and look very nice.

Does help darken the bedroom especially with the morning sun (my windows are to the west and north). Very pleased over all.

I live in eastern NC and summer here can get very hot with temps reaching 99-100 degrees. I bought these exact same curtains several years ago for our beach home. They really cut down on heat in the summer and cold in the winter.

So I bought some for my living room at home. Still the same exact quality and price. Blocking the sun out and keeping my rooms cool help with the power bill. Just wish these had been around when I used to sleep days and work nights.

Excellent quality, great light blocking, and soft fabric. I read all the reviews before purchasing, so was concerned about wrinkles from packaging. I put them in the dryer on low temperature for five minutes the hung on the curtain railings.

Perfect! No wrinkles and they fold back beautifully. Room is warmer and light is well blocked. Outstanding value. Highly recommend.

Was so excited about this product. It offered perfect sizing for what we needed. Material had an imperfection, snagging. I can live with that. However, the 45″ option had totally uneven edging. It looked like waves on the bottom.

We ordered a pair of 45″ panels and they were terrible. Didn’t even try the matching 84″ panels that we ordered. The 45″ curtains were at eye level and just couldn’t live with that. Returned the product with absolutely no problem.

I bought this when it was final sale, and also no reviews, but I still really like it. It is definitely “oversized”, and it is too big, even for what the style is aiming for. I am a solid Medium for almost everything with a bust of 34DD, but a Small would have been better and still oversized.

The taupe colour is beautiful and I love it. I don’t mind that it’s huge, but some might. Size down if you want oversize and not way too big.

I already purchased some “room-darkening” panels and installed them on a rod outside the window frame. They were less expensive than these “black-out” panels, but were not blocking enough light. These “black-out” panels fit inside the window frame very tightly.

The “black-out” panels are much heavier and work better, except for leakage around the edges Two of these panels will fit inside my big window (90″wide by 54″long) perfectly. Another single panel fits my smaller window (36″wide by 54″long).

I will hang the “room-darkening” panels over them and be DONE!.

While this jacket is designed for spring/temperatures the design allows for layering underneath and I’ve been wearing it all winter. It’s great for driving and quick trips to the store. Appears to be water resistant and wind proof and even being oversized has a flattering fit.

It would be even warmer if it had a zipper closure but I don’t mind the snaps.

I am so impressed with these! I tested them against my current “blackout” curtains which unfortunately let some light through. However these block out EVERYTHING! And they are so beautiful. A very subtle off-white with a slight sheen.

I’m very pleased with my purchase. The panels are well made and nicely packaged with no wrinkles shortly after hanging. They look just as pictured. I ordered the white which is true to color — no blues or grays.

Definitely worth the money. The fabric is linen-like with a little slub that goes well with my eclectic decor. The 100% blackout lining is bonded to the fabric which makes the panels a little stiff as expected, but they still hang beautifully.

Shipping was faster than indicated in the tracking report.

Nice blackout curtains. Love the colour and texture, but the wrinkles from when they come out of the package are still there after a month of hanging them. Have tried steam, with no effect. Would have rated a 5 if not for the wrinkles.

There were no instructions on the package on how to deal with this.

Absolutely beautiful curtains with flowing voile over black out curtains. They really do make my room cooler in the evening sun when its hits the front of the house. I highly recommend.

Omg!! I love Big Lots, I love my curtains I also brought my pillows , and bed cover from here. I brought the curtains in white and blue. My room is blue white and grey , I put the white curtains in the middle and the blue on both sides 💙 the curtains complement my room so perfect with my bed room set.

The curtains are a great buy. They do a great job of blocking out early morning sun light for those who sleep in a bit longer. They hold their shape well after washing and keep the room at a comfortable temperature.
