20 Best Curling Wand For Thick Hair (2023 Updated)

I love the brand and have always been a fan of their hairstyling tools. I needed a new curling wand because my old one broke. As I read the reviews on this styling tool, I had mixed feelings because many stated that the curl did not hold and that the barrel appeared scratched after a few times of usage.

In all honesty I noticed no scratches on my barrel and my curls have held up really well without the use of hairspray for 3 days. The wand takes very little time to heat up completely. My only complaint is that I have a hard time having the wand leaning in the direction I place it in with the stand attached to the wand.

Other than that it is one of my new favorite curling wands !.

I initially went in to the store looking for a thin curling wand to make tight spiral curls. I was going to go with another brand from looking over things that were in store previously. However once I got there I saw this curling wand along with the other one that I was going to get after speaking with One of the associates there she suggested I get this brand as it is normally not sold in store and at the time it was on a huge sale! I had never used this brand prior for any other hair tools, but I am so glad I went with this brand instead it is absolutely amazing I love the curls it produces it gives me definite 80s vibes on my hair and I am obsessed! I’ve gotten tons of compliments with how it makes my hair look and I absolutely love it! 10/10 recommend!!!.

The quality is there. After curling my hair with this wand it has a level of shine to it that wasn’t there before. My hair is quite thin and I’ve had no issues with the heat being too intense. Curls on me naturally fall a bit flat after a day of wear, this is easy to use on second day hair.

The larger barrel size is great for those effortless, looser curls. Makes my hair feel stronger and shinier after a curl. Love it.

I absolutely love this curling iron. I love the longer barrel on it. It’s the same exact curling iron my stylist uses and my hair turns out the same when I do it myself. My hair curls last so long and even last 2 days.

I love it so much! I used it on my 72 year-old mom’s hard-to-curl hair as well and the she had the same results I had. Beautiful lasting curls! Something about this curling iron makes it way better then all the irons I’ve tried in my 40 some years of curling my hair.

Better then several others I’ve tried, spendy and cheap. Nothing beats this one! I want to buy the bigger 1. 5 inch size now and the straightener as well by Moroccanoil!!! Can’t wait!.

Ended up returning this. Aesthetically it looks very nice and feels hefty, well made. But at least for me, the results/quality of curl are no different than another popular drugstore brand titanium curler that I own.

Curls do last on me for about 1 to 2 days, but the same goes for the drugstore brand. Maybe this curler itself will last many more years, but it is also more than 4x the price. Also I find my hair gets caught easily at the end of the clip, which could be partly my technique, but it rarely happens with my T3 curler.

If you value a really pretty looking curling iron on your vanity (my drugstore curler is NOT pretty), this may work for you.

I purchased this $150 curling iron only because someone was selling it brand new in the box for $15 and I can’t resist a great deal. Right off the top I removed a star because it’s a good basic iron but shouldn’t cost near what it does.

It has ability to choose your temperature based on your hair texture/type and heats up instantly. The cord is a very long professional type. There was a bit of a learning curve as im used to wands and kept getting clamp marks in my hair.

When I figured it out all was well. Still prefer my wands.

I received this as a gift from my sister. She bought it from T3 directly. I tried to exchange it with a different product of theirs, since I already own a T3 twirl, however they wouldn’t do anything without a receipt, said they couldn’t look her up in their system, and my sister has 3 little kids so getting a receipt from her was more impossible than having tea with the queen of England.

I finally got an email from my sister with her confirmation order, but then they said a month went by and it was too much time that passed, despite it being new and in the box. So although I LOVE T3 products and own many, their CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE! I love their curling irons, but I preferred to exchange my present with the wands trio since the wands hold better curls for me.

My sister meant to buy me wands but bought the trio instead, and the 2 smaller curling irons are too small for me and I would never use. I prefer larger barrels for beach waves instead of curly hair.

This wand trio is everything you need. Not only is it beautiful, stylish and a space saver, but it’s functionality exceeds beyond my expectations. I have used 2 of the barrels and they have worked marvelously.

The 1 inch barrel (the photos with the yellow dress and the hat) gives small, tight curls that lasts 2 days. I brushed my curls to give me that vintage wave. The 1. 5 inch barrel is for longer hair and gives you a less defined wave yet very subtle (picture in the green dress).

The curls hold 2 days using hairspray. Some retouching is necessary on the next day as some may come undone. Swapping the barrels out is very easy, the wand gets hot fast and you can choose the heat necessary for your hair.

Another great feature is that once it turns back on it remembers the last setting you used.

I’m really impressed with this set. I’ve considered buying it for years, but couldn’t justify the price. I picked it up on sale (and used a lot of points), thinking if it isn’t worth the hype – it won’t be as much of a loss.

The good news: this set is so great, I’m buying a couple more attachments. For someone with VERY straight, long, fine hair. but a LOT of it, it’s very hard to find tools that work the way they say they will.

I had a failed experience with the Dyson styler and several other styling tools. Really impressed with the quality and barrels. My only gripe is that all of the wands being the same (but different sizes) is a little redundant for me, having long hair.

I find I really only utilize the largest barrel. Even the middle size is a bit tight for my hair – using the second heat setting for each barrel.

I love this curling iron, have my original for well over 15 years and I just reordered the same one. Great for soft sausage curls that can be easily brushed into a natural look wave. Just the right diameter and long enough barrel to curl long hair with ease.

Nice size end tip helps prevent finger burns when wrapping or unwrapping hair onto the iron. Varied heating levels are a plus. Never had a cord problem in the 15 years of its service. So why did I need to buy another.

I love this style so much I didn’t want it to be out dated and off the shelf before I got another. how many items are still around and going strong after 15 years?!?.

I bought this to replace another curling iron I was not happy with. This is a great product, works very well for me. I have arthritis in my hands and I need a curling iron that is easy to hold. This one closes tightly, so I don’t have to worry about it slipping when I curl my hair.

My hair is shoulder length, but shorter on top, which is where I need the curl for volume. I can get a great style with this item, am very happy with it.

For my thin hair babes — THIS WORKS. I’m not sure what the other people who reviewed saying it didn’t work for their thin hair were doing wrong but my style held up with no product other than a heat protectant.

I’ve had this curling wand for a few years now, and it still performs just as well as it did went I first got it. It is easy to use once you get the hang of it, even if you’re new to curling your hair.

This size and type of wand lends itself to being an excellent tool to creating looser curls, or as I’m gravitate toward, beach waves (no ocean required). The multiple heat settings (up to 430 F) allow you to control the temperature depending on your hair’s texture and needs.

Overall, this curling wand is truly a great find that I would enthusiastically recommend.

This wand gives bigger waves and I really like it for a beachy look. My hair is fine and thin and when air dried is almost totally straight, so it has a hard time holding styles. In high humidity the curls have fallen a bit so be sure to use a good heat protectant/light hold product before using it and definitely use hair spray to set (I like the Pureology).

I hold the wand behind my head and wrap the sections away from my face, then release the curl into my hand to curl for a few seconds before releasing. I rarely style my hair as I’m a wash and go to the gym kind of girl, but this tool is fast and easy to use when you want a nice style.

My hair is waist length & thick. I curled all of my hair in 10 minutes with this wand!! The glove is perfect & does not stick to your hair as you are gathering pieces to curl. My curls lasted for 2 days with no hairspray.

I only held my hair on the wand for about 5 seconds & there is no damage to my hair. This is the best wand EVER!! Worth every penny & more. I would almost buy another to have as an extra. I love this curling iron. Used to use CHI and my curls never lasted, fall flat so fast. This curling iron works for different hair types (all my friends have now bought one because of using it at my house) heats up fast and last long.

The material on this is great. The quality is good but it’s a little heavy. I haven’t really looked it up but I hope there are more sizes to change the wand. I have never gotten Paul Mitchell before but so far it performs better than the T3 set (total disappointment).

I used an actual stop watch to see how the Thin Wand stood the test of time while getting ready. It upheld 30 seconds exactly from hitting the on button to singing a chime telling me she was ready to work.

The time it would normally take me just to roll all of my hair into curlers I was able to curl all of my hair with ease and be on my way. I got to skip the 30 minute curler sit time, extraction and trying to work through the weird kinks that always happen from hair overlapping with bumps.

The Thin Wand gave me the control to adjust how tights or loose I wanted the curl to come out. I think it would a great aid to range from everyday hair, a night out to more formal occasions. My normally flat curl hair held on throughout the night, a toss a turning night of sleep and into the next day.

I normally only wash my hair once, no more than twice a week. Dirty hair is healthy hair. I love the way it’s looking on day 2 with just a run through of my hair brush. With how good day 2 is going I know I will get another 1 to 2 days out of these curls easily and they won’t look torn up.

The wand is a delight to use. It’s not heavy and it’s easy to wrap your hair around the thin barrel. It heated up very quickly and a chime sounded to confirm it was ready to use. I like the mini glove which comes with it to protect your finger and thumb.

Word of advice, ensure the wand is pointing away from your neck when curling the bottom layer of hair to avoid any accidental burns. I have normal / thick long hair and managed to curl all my hair in under 12 minutes.

I prefer to alternate the direction when curling my hair to achieve a more natural look. I was worried the curls would be too tight so I curled a slightly larger section of hair and ended up with bigger, beautiful, bouncy curls.

Due to my hair type, the curls last 2-3 days with only a couple of touch ups and the curls hold their shape. I have used this wand for the last week and I love it. I really wasn’t sure if a thin wand would work with my longer thicker hair but it’s a fantastic wand and I can achieve different types of curls with it.

This wand will work for different lengths of hair and is definitely suitable for thicker and thin hair.

The GHD curve thin wand is an amazing product to add to my hair tool collection,i already have the GHD,straightners & this has just made life so much easier and glamorous for me. The wand heated up extremely quickly.

I have very long hair and usually struggle in getting strong curls & curling the back of my hair myself but this wand was realy simple & didnt take me long to style or get used to. My hair is quite thin,so the curls left a lovely volume & glamorous looking effect.

I loved the length of the wand,it was realy realy affective & worked wonders on my long hair & i didnt have to keep wrapping it around & going over it as it left a lovely curl in the first attempt. My curls came out tight in a ringlet effect and lasted me 2 days after sleeping on it without the use of any hair spray which was realy impressive for me.

Curling iron works wonders. It heats up superfast making your styling time that much faster. You do however have to be super super careful because if you leave your hair on this curling iron just like with any other curling iron It will fry your hair.

I find that this curling iron specifically You’ll have to be a lot more careful than any other brand because it will fry your hair if you’re not careful enough. But all in all it is an absolutely amazing curling iron I would recommend it and recommend also to use it in the lowest setting and just be vigilant and do not leave it on for a long time on your hair and you should be good and I’m sure you love it.

This curling iron was so much fun learning how to use and playing around with! I’m usually very particular about my curl and I was a little skeptical to use this worried that I wasn’t going to like the curl on me.

I actually love how bouncy of a curl it gave me with such little effort on my end! From the gorgeous packaging to the user friendly design, this product is a 10/10. The tool is a little intimidating but after utilizing the resources they provide, it’s smooth sailing.

I have a lot of hair so it was a learning curve on how to make it less voluminous than the first time I used it but there’s nothing wrong with a little added volume. Ive learned that if I stop the twisting before it gets to my ends, it gives me not as much volume and bounce which I love for day to day! All in all i have nothing negative to say about the product! If you’re looking for a tool that will give you beautiful bouncy curls, run and snag the Farrah!.

The Farrah takes a lot of practice. I highly recommend watching the video tutorials after reading the instructions. After a couple of tries, it took me about 30 mins to curl my hair using the Farrah.

It usually takes me around 20 mins to curl my hair with a regular curling iron. I’m guessing that’s because I need to use the Farrah some more. My natural hair is thick and frizzy. I like relaxed curls or beach waves when I curl my hair.

My only critique would be how close the power button is to the two turn buttons. I accidentally pushed the power button (turning the temp up) instead of pushing the turn button several times when I was learning to use the Farrah.

After a little practice, the Farrah was easy to use and a fun new way to curl my hair. I really like the end result and my curls lasted all day.

I was hesitant on buying this wand because of the few negative reviews, but now I know it’s mostly just user error and lack of reading the instructions. lol I’m glad I tried it for myself. This wand is great! I have always used conair tools and they’ve lasted me years.

I love the barrel sizes this wand comes with. I have a blunt bob and use the 1/2 inch chopstick with about 1 inch of hair in each curl and it gives me the CUTEST waves that last for a couple of days.

I might have to touch up a few spots here and there, but nothing too crazy. I love the different attachments because I can use the largest barrel on my extensions and it’s all in one for convenient storage.

Another plus is this heats up insanely fast. It’s so great if you’re in a pinch. Also, I didn’t have an issue with the lock mechanism at all. It’s very simple, especially if you follow the instructions.

All in all this is a great tool to have! It is very versatile. I will say that each barrel does give a different curl, but there is very little difference between the pink (curly) and blue (wavy) curl in my hair.

I have course hair that has some natural wave to it. The tool was very easy to use however none of my wand attachments would lock into place. None of the fell out while I was doing my hair though. I live in GA where it is fairly humid and these curls lasted most of the day with little product.

The yellow wand (coily) did make my hair very frizzy. The other two seemed to take the frizz a good bit. My daughter has naturally curly hair and she loves to use this in the mornings just to touch her hair up before school.

Neither one of us use the 3 finger glove. I find it to be very cumbersome. The ends of each wand do not get hot, so we do not find it necessary. Each attachment comes with a predetermined heat setting, although you can change it if you would like.

All the curls I did were done on the recommended setting. All in all good product. Gave it 4 stars because there wasn’t much difference in the pink and blue barrels and since I couldn’t get any of the to lock in place.

I LOVE this tool so much. I recently cut my hair very short to give it a fresh start. I feel so comfortable using this temperature-controlled tool to help me style my hair for the day. I use the smallest barrel to make my hair less frizzy and more “put together”! It has a guide to help with the temperature control, but I did end up using the highest heat setting.

I do have mixed hair so it makes sense I would have to diverge from their recommendation. I appreciate that this tool helped my hair be more definited AND made it shiny. I’m still navigating this new haircut, but my confidence has gone up because this! Because of its versitality, I can’t wait to use it on my sister’s straight hair! I already know it will over-preform.

I highly recommend this styling tool for a person or household with multiple needs/uses.

I wanted to love it. I really did! I had asked for recommendations for a curling wand and just about everyone suggested I get a L’ange curling wand. So I ordered one! Excited to try it out. Until the shipping company lost the order.

L’ange sent a replacement (YAY!) which was also delayed due to “an error on the shipping company’s end”. Here we go again. It was finally delivered after 28 days PROS: 1) it looks great! Looks like what you would find in a hair salon 2) heat protecting glove – although if you are a tactile person like I am, it’s annoying CONS: 1) The heat is not adjustable – sorry, 410 degrees? My hair was smoking before I finished winding it around the wand 2) The curls were not consistent.

I took tiny pieces of hair (about 1/2″ pieces) and each strand of hair looked nothing like the strand I had just curled prior. 3) By the time I got to the 4th strand/curl, the first curl was already falling out to less than a wave In the waiting 28 days, I bought another curling wand – same length as I have super thick long hair down to my rear-end and it quite honestly does a much better job than the L’ange, it has adjustable heat control, my curls lasted all day and then some, and it was half the price.

If you want a brand name? Go with L’ange. If you want something that works on thick long hair? This isn’t what you want.

Personally this product does not work for me. I wish there had been a disclosure that there is no wand attached to hold your hair in place. My hair has long layers and simply you cannot wrap and with her the length it is very difficult to get a decent curl.

I actually have it packaged to return. This product may work great for people with very long hair not so great for those with shoulder length and layers. Love the hair care products but this just does not work for me.

Not being able to adjust the temp is extremely unfortunate. This wand is 410 degrees!!! It has burned my hair off making it half as long as it used to be and EXTREMELY thin, like it is sad. Before I knew how hot it was, I loved how quickly I was able to achieve beautiful beach waves.

And only curling my hair once a week, I never thought I would have an issue until my hair started falling off from being burned over time. Such a waste of money and hard work growing my hair out. I even used a heat protectant!.

This product offers the versatility that I wanted to pear down on my quickly growing collection of hair tools. My cabinet in the bathroom was becoming very cluttered with cords, and I decided to give this a try! I can store everything in the included pouch, and it will allow me to get rid of 3 other curling irons I had.

The included glove is really nice for those of us who grew accustomed to holding on to the grip on the tip of a traditional curling iron. I find myself doing that a lot, so the glove saves the day! It is pretty easy to switch the rods, and it looks very nice and sleek! It’s easy to control and makes me more likely to use the various sizes.

I may even get rid of my curling wand, though that’s a big commitment, because I’m really attached to it! It’s also Xtava, so it has that same great quality. I get compliments when I decide to curl my hair rather than straightening it, and that’s always nice.

I have naturally curly hair, but it is unwieldy and frizzy, so I typically just straighten it to keep it smooth. These curling iron barrels have all done well at smoothing while giving defined curls.

Can’t ask for anything more!.

I’m new to curling my hair, and I didn’t know what size of curling iron I needed. Since this one came in a variety of sizes, I’m able to try them and see what type of curl I like best. I didn’t know that this type of curling iron existed I’ve only ever seen the ones that are a standard size.

The curling iron heats up quickly, and the temperature settings go up in small intervals instead of large ones. The carrying case that they give you to store all of the curling irons helps protect them and keep them all in one place.

I liked that you were also provided with a glove to use. You can still feel the heat through the glove, but I was able to safely hold my hair against the curling iron while wearing it. I’ve never used a glove like that before, but it’s definitely nice having that bit of protection while using the curling irons.

Since I’m new to it, I’m always afraid that I’m going to burn myself. It takes a little bit of effort to change the curling iron sizes, but once you figure out how to do change them it isn’t too bad.

I would recommend these for someone new to curling their hair. It’s a ​nice sampling of sizes.

Pro: I am very happy with my purchase of the curling iron set. I dislike having to store away a lot of stuff and what’s nice about this set is that you can change out the barrels! No need to have different curling irons for different sizes of curls! I also really appreciate the clipless barrels! They are so cool! Con: I had no idea how it worked when I took it out of the box.

I have never had an interchangeable curling iron before and I had to visit the website to understand what to do! There were not any instructions included. Maybe not needed for some. would have been nice for me.
