20 Best Crossbow Target For 500 Fps (2023 Updated)

This discharge bag has greatly simplified my life when a day in the woods doesn’t go quite the way I’d hoped. Up until finding this bag, unloading my unfired crossbow was downright annoying having to choose between a decocking bolt (which I’d often lose) and hauling around my target bag (which is heavy and very much in the way).

The Morrell Yellow Jacket Final Shot Discharge Bag is a compact, easily stowable, stout target for firing off a field tipped bolt right at the truck. I just keep a cheap bolt fitted with a field tip stashed along with it and shoot the thing on the ground or against a tree at point blank range.

Stops the shot cold without penetrating. Bolts remove like butter and I’m on my way home to pull some of last year’s success from the freezer to help me forget the day’s missed opportunity. Get one, you’ll thank yourself.

Just bought this to decock my Centerpoint Wrath 430. Looked at the reviews and they looked good. I did not see any specs for maximum speed of crossbows for use so I assumed it could handle any crossbow.

Bag is very light. Buried the bolt using a field tip on first use. I was standing 5 feet away. I had to cut the bag to get the bolt out. Damaged the fletchings. Very disappointed.

Shot bag about 6 times and my bolt was difficult to remove every time. It “usually” stopped the bolt b4 the fetching would touch it. It hangs up on the threaded insert (not the practice tip) when removing.

However the last time I shot it, the nock was buried and I could not get the bolt out at all without cutting into the bag and my fetching is now wrecked. So I’m frustrated with having to cut the bag and with wrecking a bolt.

I shoot Excalibur cross bows. Rated and tested at 340 fps. At 25 yds the bolt does get stopped. The problem is the 16 inch bolt is completely buried inside the target. It stops the bolt but not soon enough to create major issues getting the bolt out of the target.

of course the fletching is trashed. On the target itself it says 520 fps. Completely disatisfied with this product.

The Hurricane bag that I received is the 520 model. It still has the deer vitals on the back side but I was expecting the yellow bag. That said, it stops my 370 fps crossbow with half the bolt sticking out and it pulls out very nicely.

For the $$ I think it’s a great buy and seems to be durable. I would recommend this product for target or even a discharge bag, it’s not very heavy so it’s easy to through in the truck for camp or discharging after a hunt.

After shooting into this target about a dozen times I realized the holes stay in the exterior material. I thought theyd close up at least a little, but no, they just stayed there. Then when I would shoot anywhere close to the previous hole, It would pull the arrows into the same hole.

I SHOULD have purchased a solid block high density target.

The target is tough and has taken hundreds of shots from me. Normal/generic field tips are hard to pull out, but not impossible if you stand on the target and pull them. If you buy foam target tips (Allen bullet points work for me) instead of generic field tips they also pull easier.

Buying a $10 arrow remover also helps a lot. So, if you want a tough target that works for broadheads and field tips then this works well. I only rate it 4/5 stars because it seems like my target is not fully filled out with foam.

I hit the bottom corner of the target about an inch down and left of the dot and the arrow bounced out sideways because the “casing” or outer shell was surrounding a hallow spot on the corner where the hard foam doesn’t fill all the way.

It wrecked the arrow, but I guess I also missed my shot so I can’t only blame the target. Still, I’d expect that if you hit the face of the target, even near the edges, that the arrow would stick in.

Other than that I have no complaints about the target.

I am not sure why this target block receives such negative reviews. It stops arrows from my 70lb Prime Black 5 and they pull from the target relatively easily. Very tough target and should last quite a while as I am only using field points.

this is the only target i could find able to stop bolts from a 440 fps crossbow. they are blems so its not a perfect looking target but i only use it to put holes in anyway so looks mean nothing. these targets last for years of shooting at them.

While it does exactly what it is supposed to do which is stop crossbow bolts it missed the mark. The stuff is packed so tight that if you shoot anywhere in the middle of the bag from any direction it causes my Parker bolts to fray and little strands of fiber glass come up where it went in ever time.

Bolts are not cheap so won’t be using this product. Have used different versions of this bag before and none of them ever did it. Only reason I replaced because my buddy accidentally shot a few broadheads into bag.

Older versions were better if ask me.

Bought this because it’s rated to stop 450fps and up. Brand new, first shots at the bag today and I ruined fletching on (2) bolts. Shooting Center Punch 16” Alpha Knock Premium Carbon bolts w/100gr field points out of my Tenpoint Havoc 440.

Sucked my bolts right in past the knock. Bag was not used up, it was off the shelf today. You get what you pay for.

My old crossbow target of a different brand stopped my crossbow bolts but it was extremely difficult to remove them from the target. That resulted in fletchings being ripped from the bolt and a lot of unnecessary strain.

This one is good at both releasing the bolt with minimal effort and stopping pass-through shots. One warning though, this is a field-point target not suitable for fixed or mechanical broadheads. The blades on broadheads will quickly destroy the woven vinyl exterior skin and you will start to lose the stuffing rather quickly.

I used field points and practice points. The field points do the least damage and the practice points do more damage but less than the expandables and fixed blade heads. I’m Ok with the additional damage from the practice points because they very nearly simulate the ballistics of the hunting points so that my point of impact will not be negatively affected in a hunting situation.

Also, while using the practice points may cause more damage to this target, I am avoiding the damage to my expensive expandables and dulling their razor sharp edges. Great target but I wish they would sell replacement, expendable slip-on covers to further extend the life of this target.

Prior targets (especially foam targets) were difficult enough to remove arrows from when I was shooting my compound bow. I bought a 470fps crossbow and knew I didn’t want to experience removing the arrow from them.

I bought the crossbow so I can take my kids hunting. I done a ton of research and decided this was the target I wanted. I felt it was a large enough target that my kids could practice on and it claimed two finger removal.

I sighted my first shot in at 20yds. My oldest son, 8yrs old, easily pulled the arrow out with one hand. Every once in a while an arrow needs more than 2 fingers but it’s still a one hand simple removal.

I’d suggest even my 3yr old could remove all but the rare mildly harder to remove arrows. This target isn’t light. At around 63lbs, the kids are not going to carry it down range. The only true downside of this target is you can’t send a broadhead at it.

Broadheads fly different so you still need to practice using another target. Find a broadhead that flies identical to your field point WITH YOUR BOW. This is a great target and I highly recommend. I hope it lasts.

If I had endless money, I’d buy the largest targets these guys make so everyone in the family could have one. I got 4 kids and I’m confident they can all practice with this and I don’t have to worry about fetching arrows for them all day long.

This target is Awesome! I had a black box from Carbellas rated at 520 fps. I shot 3 bolts from my Ten Point 440 fps Havoc. Buried alll three bolts to knock at 39 yards. Received a full refund from Carbellas.

I went to the internet and came cross the spider target. Performs as stated. I was so pleased I purchased the 18 model because it’s a little lighter. If your looking for a target to stop these Nitro crossbows….

The ST 24 XL No Speed Limit. Was everything they claimed it was, sighting my Havoc RS440 crossbow in at ten yards to get a starting point. Then move to 20 yards. It stops the bolt and removal was like people have stated two fingers.

This is my second SpyerWed Target my first one was ST 24 for TenPoint Stealth FX4 and it took a hundreds of shots. Thanks for the great target.

I bought this about a year ago and after about 750-1000 shots it just deteriorating. I shoot a 545gr arrow at 279FPS and rarely shoot broadheads through it. It started off fantastic. but after 1000 shots it has holes so big my arrows will penetrate to the fletchings.

Broadheads inflict massive damage to the target and I’ve sent less than 50 through it. I rotate the target often and shoot different spots to try to prevent blowouts, but I’d estimate now after about 11 months and probably 2500-3000 shots, it’s lost 15-20% of it’s mass.

If I hit certain spots, the arrow will blow through and shoot a huge chunk out the back, and even when it doesn’t, pulling arrows always removes some material and makes a mess. I understand I have a lot of arrows through it, but these problems started happening long ago.

All in all, I wouldn’t buy this again, maybe I’d get the big high roller, but this one just sucks.

Decent target for broadheads. Pretty dang small with rounded corners. Lightweight and portable, but still does it’s job of stopping arrows. I keep this in my truck and use it to check my bow while in the field.

I have only shot it a handful of times with broadheads and it is already chunking out in the bullseye. I don’t think it will last long if subjected to repeated broadhead use but would probably last a while with field points.

Arrow removal is smooth and simple.

I bought this for use with broadheads since most other targets are designed for field points only. I am pleased with the performance but there are a few details that it might be helpful for others to know.

First, as clearly advertised the size is small so take that into consideration and only try long distances when you are sure where the arrows will go versus a field point. Second, I shot this target with an expandable broadhead and it bent it badly enough that I wouldn’t use it again.

I am shooting a Ravin R29 at 430 FPS so that might have had something to do with it. With fixed broadheads, my first, short range shot went through the target and knocked some material loose and off the backside.

As I moved out to longer distances it stopped all broadheads with the broadhead tip sticking out the back and the arrow buried up to the fletches. These longer shots did not damage the target significantly and I usually unscrewed the broadhead then pulled the arrow out.

I pulled one out without removing the broadhead and it came out okay. I would rate arrow removal as requiring medium effort, rather than easy. It requires much more force than is required to remove a field point from my other target that isn’t designed for broadheads.

Durability of the target seems quite good except for my first, close-range shot. I expect it to last a very long time.

Excellent target with great stopping power and super great release of bolts. Great price and great shipping, I would recommend this product to everyone who shoots a bow, regardless of what kind of bow it is.

Just finished using this target to sight in my new 400 fps xbow. Shot about fifty 250 g bolts with 150 g field points into the target at ranges from 20 yards to 40 yards. No bolt went more than 1/2 way through bag.

All bolts were easily withdrawn without tools. Bag is holding together great and I’m sure will be good for hundreds more bolts. Very pleased with quality.

I purchased this bag a month ago hoping i’d be better than some of the others I’ve used before. I’m shooting a compound bow strung at 70lbs. I shot 10 arrows into the bag and could not pull out 3 of them without putting two feet on the bag to pull them out.

I tried again and ended up having to cut out two of the arrows because I was about to break them from the force being used to try and pull them out. I am done with it. It now sits on the fence line as a back up for any misses.

This target does exactly what is says it will do. It stopped my new Ravin’s R29X 450fps. bolts. It did not penetrate thru the target. The plus is you can take them out easily! Refreshing to actually get what was promised from a product.

We shot the ravin 500 into this target and it took 2 of us to get it out. Manufacturers said to lube arrows and same results except this time the arrow broke

I’ve had this target for about two years and it has worked fairly well. The arrows would pull out of the fill fairly easily, however my arrow points would always get hung up on the bag material. As a result the outside cover has not held up very well.

Which brings me to my first gripe. Morrell does a very poor job of communicating the fact that their target is only meant to be used with target points that are the same diameter as the arrow shaft, no wider.

If you use wider diameter target points then it can damage the bag. It does not say this anywhere on the bag or on any retailer websites. I only recently discovered this in the fine print on their website.

Had I known this I would not have bought the target. Second gripe. this target is not weatherproof, no matter what they may tell you. I have always put my target away after practicing, however I left it out once and we had a pop-up thunderstorm.

After that the filling swelled and now the target keeps a death grip on the arrows. It kept the point and insert of the last arrow that I shot into it. After that it went in the trash. I will say I’ve never even come close to having an arrow blow through this target.

Bottom line: if the diameter of your target points is no larger that your arrow shafts AND you will ALWAYS put your target away or shoot indoors then buy this target. If you cannot meet those two conditions then look elsewhere.

I personally am looking for a foam block to replace this.

I needed a target to take the punishment from my RAVIN R20. The other bag targets I use could not stop bolts well enough to prevent several of them to penetrate to the vanes. I have enjoyed archery for approximately 45 years and the MORRELL YJ450 PLUS is thus far proving itself to be the most effective field point target I have owned.

Yes, it’s heavy but a necessary evil for its purpose. The handle placement on opposite corners makes elevating the target a challenge for protecting it from ground moisture. I fabricated a platform with large diameter wheels from Harbor Freight to more easily move it around and protect it from moisture issues.

I highly recommend the MORRELL YJ-450 PLUS as the ideal archer’s practice target.

Absolutely hands down the worst target I have ever had! The material on the inside wraps around the arrow no matter what type of head I try! I would rather be shooting wood to get my arrows out It would be much easier! This target is going in the trash! I have had it for about a year and I have shot hundreds and hundreds of arrows at it to break it in.

It has not helped one bit. Maybe I just got a bad one but I have nothing good to say about this Target.

I held out on writing a review because I have purchased various archery targets in the past and at first use they all seem to work and impress you. Well as we all know with archery targets the more they get used the less impressed we usually are with them.

However that is far from the case with this one. I am still very impressed with the no speed limit target. After several uses the arrows are not sinking in further and further as with all other speed bags I have used in the past.

This target still stops the arrows with only a few inches of ***********. Also I was very skeptic of the easy 2 finger pull from the target but even now after several uses there is no target out there that I’ve found that the arrows pull out with such ease.

I shoot a Ravin R10 so finding a target that last longer than a few months and still works just as good as day one truly in my eyes can’t be beat. So spend the little extra on a top of the line quality target like this one and i bet you will be more than excited that you did.

Look no further for a reliable target to stop 400+ FPS crossbow arrows. After sending a couple arrows through lesser quality targets, my research pointed toward the Spyderweb no speed limit target. I couldn’t be more satisfied with the results.

I shoot a Tenpoint Siege RS410 and it has 16” arrows. The arrows go into the target roughly halfway and pull out very easy. I have the 18” model and it is super dense. With that comes some extra weight but that is a small inconvenience compared to the stopping power.

I spoke with someone from the company before the purchase and they assured me I would be pleased with the target or they would replace it. Small company in SW Michigan with fast shipping and fair prices.

Don’t waste your money experimenting on other brands. You will be extremely satisfied with Spyderweb targets!.

Purchased this target to use with Tenpoint Nitro 505, Third arrow shot buried itself well past the veins. I do have a video of this, I was disappointed. Second day shooting no more than 20 shots registered, arrow #2 zips through, destroying the veins.

It is exceedingly difficult to get arrows out of the target once they are buried inside. Note: first shots were taken at the same area, but not the exact same spot. Second day utilizing different spots as I shot.

I have noticed at 50 Yards the target stops all shots, anything closer I fear re-fletching will become expensive. I clicked yes, I would recommend, but only if you shoot a Crossbow from a distance 50 yards or greater, if it has a lot of kinetic energy.

I have this target and a 24″ “dog” target for longer shots. I was shooting 22″ 479gr. Pile Driver Carbon Express arrows. The 14XL Crossbow Archery Practice Field Point Target-No Speed Limit stopped every shot with about 6″-8″ of ***********.

Easy removal and the face seemed to hold up better than the “dog”, even though it looks like similar material on the target face. I do have concerns about the corrugated plastic staying attached. Why? Most of the staples are over driven.

We’ll see how it holds up. The “dog” is framed with wood as a comparison. This target seems as heavy as the 24″ “dog”. I think that correlates to a denser packed target and more stopping power. I had two near pass throughs on the “dog”, one burying the vanes and ripping it off when extracted.

I hope I can post pictures later in this review. I think this target is well worth the money. It does its job well. I should have bought a bigger one.

This product is amazing. It’s a field point only target which is just fine since I already know my broadheads hit in the exact same spots as my field points do. I have a Big Block target which I did use but constantly had issues with my bolts going in all the way to the fetching.

My Centerpoint 425 Amped shoots my bolts pretty consistently at 408 fps with my arrow set up. This new Spyder target stops these bolts at about 6 inches at 20 yds with an easy 2 finger removal. Thank you for making such a great product right here in the US.

Plus, shipping was super fast. I cannot be any happier with this product and look forward to you all making one for broadheads that works equally as well.

Finally got around to try out my newly acquired crossbow. New to the sport so I needed a target to shoot at. Works great. Bolts go in 2-4 inches and east to pull out. Great deal as it was on sale for Black Friday.

I bought this target mainly to unload my 415 FPS crossbow it works very well. I’ve shot at other name brand targets and couldn’t pull my arrow out my self. I would highly recommend this target it’s so nice to easley pull your arrows out of.

The max 400 FPS archery target, for a fairly compact target, of a high quality item. It has two heavy gauge handles on top, and every side has target surfaces which help cut down on the wear and tear.

Plus the cover on the target is “self sealing” which also prolongs the life of the target. For its size and bulk, the target isn’t as heavy as you would expect but does have a little weight to it.

Ravin R10 at 405fps. stopped it b4 half of the shaft penetrated it and pulled out like butter. Best target butt I have ever had. I wish I had bought this b4 I wasted 3 bolts trying to use another brand.

Price was great as well.

Okay, let me explain why I didn’t give this product 5 Stars. It weighs a TON!! It’s HEAVY. It’s REALLY HEAVY! Get the point! No pun intended! Will it stops everything you fling at it? Yes. Vertical or crossbows are no match for this bag.

It will stop your bolts/arrows with ease. You will be able to remove them with no trouble whatsoever. If you are in a place where you can set this target and NOT move it. It’s probably one of, if not the BEST targets on the market.

It’s just a real pain to lug this thing around. The quality is great. I have one that I’ve shot more than I can count and it still is in great shape. If you’re a lady Archer or you got kids who want to shoot.

Get some one to move this beast for you! It’s a great bag. Will last a long, long time. It’s just HEAVY!!.

This bag is awesome! Arrows with field tips have about 6-8 inches of penetration and pull our smoothly. Best value for sure. You can hang it too. Plus they sell just the covers you can use to replace a wore out one.

This item I’ve recently ordered. The brand is a top notch brand. They make many targets. I chose this one because of cost. For the quality for that price. You cant be that with a stick. It’s a good solid heavy bag and does its job.

The delivery is prompt I’m always happy with it. They keep u updated good job Walmart!.

This target is HUGE!!! Although I reviewed the dimensions, I was so surprised how large it was. I bought it for my 8 year old grandson and he just loved sitting on it (like a bean bag chair) the first couple of days.

There’s NO way his arrows would go totally through this target. Also, the stand that came with it is much sturdier than I imagined!.

I’ve had this bag for a couple years now and I’m buying another. Its a great bag, easy arrow removel and holds its shape. Probably shot both sides altogether over 1000 arrows. Mine has never been outdoors, so maybe that helps.

honestly don’t waste your money, you’ll be replacing inserts and field tips. I was warming up at 30 yards and my field tips get stuck and cannot be pulled. I have 3 field tips stuck in the bag, so un threaded the arrow, like advertised it will stop your arrows but you will not remove them.

My bow ATA speed is 343 so it not like I’m over power the bag, frustrated with the waste of $.

I Just recieved it today. I have a TenPoint 470 Vapar. My chrongraft says 440fps. Target is excellent for pulling arrows out. Two fingers at 20yds. What I have noticed is center of target seems a little weak ! Bolts are going in almost to the vanes.

So I may try to slam it up and down then flatten it back out to see what happens. But the bolts that are hitting that 2 1/2 bullseye are stopped by the material in the back side, so far. Only time will tell now.

I purchased this to sight in a crossbow. It’s a very powerful bow and launches at 450 fps, but theoretically the bag was designed for such impacts. After the third arrow, the back of the bag split wide open.

Needless to say, I am disappointed. It’s a decent bag at a good price, and probably would hold up fine for a less powerful setup. It was not up for 170+ foot pounds, although no arrows came close to passing through the bag.

Picked this up for $50 plus a $20MIR. I use it to shoot field points with my compound bow. It does the job. The handles are garbage and can dig into your hands; I attached some plastic tubing to the handles so they’re tolerable now.

This target isn’t meant to be left outside so I carry it in and out after every use. It’s ~50lbs. Wish there was more color contrast on the canvas, but for $30 it’s worth it.

Yep, it’s an archery target. It stops arrows, even from crossbows. It doesn’t like broadheads. This is the 20″ by 20″ model. It wont stop the arrow if you miss. If that’s a problem, they sell a bigger one too.

Reviewed with a 375 fps crossbow. I was skeptical. Im not going to use this one for field points. Broadhead only bag for me. Compared to a cheaper one i had Bone collector this one is easier to pull.

let the material cool down before you pull. a minute or two. It does make a difference in how hard you pull. @ 10 yards my tips are out the back but fletching have not penetrated. I have yet to take the range out since I have a bad scope(cheap).

I purchased a dozen Mussy broad heads for an upcoming elk hunt in Colorado. I have been using expandables but they are not recommended for the elk. I also purchased a new target as many of the ones I have are getting old.

My first shot at this target which is new blew right threw the target into the side of my barn. This target is rated for broad head use but isn’t stopping it. I am shooting a 70lb bow with carbon arrows.

I have purchased Block targets before and had not problem but for some reason this one is not stopping the arrow. I have put another target at the back of the bock and am able to use it. The target may be good for field points but its not stopping this combo.

I bought this target a little over year ago. I shoot a ~420-grain carbon/metal arrows at about 260 fps with fixed blade broadheads and this target did not hold up very well. It was shot out in less than 6 months of shooting.

Now, my arrows consistently pass through the target. However, it works great for my kids bows (15-35# draw weights) with very easy arrow removal for them. I would recommend this target for light draw weights, or minimal shooting for heavier draw weights with broadheads.
