As the best cheese to pair with salami will vary depending on personal preferences. However, some general guidelines that can be followed include choosing a cheese that is firm and has a strong flavor, as these will be able to stand up to the bold taste of salami.
Additionally, it is often recommended to pair salami with a cheese that has a similar texture, so that the two ingredients complement each other well. Some specific cheeses that pair well with salami include Parmesan, Asiago, and Pecorino Romano.
Toscano Chub Salami is made with premium pork raised without antibiotics and fennel pollen which is renowned for bringing out a sweet complexity in the meat. This unique and delicious salami will be well at home on a cheese plate loaded with almonds, bright dried fruits like figs and apricots and mellow white cheeses.
Slow-cured and 100% gluten-free. Made in the USA. Keep cool and refrigerate after opening. Traditional salamis are wrapped in a white, powdery edible-mold casing similar to what you would find on fine cheeses.
This type of mold helps cure the salami and protect it against spoilage. NOTE: You can tell if salami is spoiled by its smell and appearance. Particularly a slimy surface or pungent odor are common signs that the product should be discarded.
Gallo still has great taste and following. Can’t get the salami outside of California unless it is stripped of casing and vacuum wrapped. Understandable for a highly perishable product. But there is such a thing as shipping which Gallo doesn’t seem to realize.
So we buy it from others that buy from Gallo and resell and ship. The old Gallo recipe from 35 and 40 years ago was a higher quality tighter packed, better aged meat with nice fat nodules. Now it is an oozing greasy product with fat nodules.
There are some other smaller companies that get closer to the old Gallo. Gallo has such good memories and family association that we always have to have Gallo also. If you didn’t grow up on Gallo then you don’t realize it changed and are ok with it now.
The old Gallo had more flavor, garlic and wine, redder meat. It was the undisputed King of the California Italian Dry Salame’s. You could even find truck vendors along the highway selling nothing but chubs of Salame.
Salame Man was one along the highway. During the years of being acquired, bought out, traded around the recipe was changed by the bean counters that wanted profits increased and figured the fickle Americans would take quantity over quality any day.
Gallo and Galileo are still good salame products and deserve to be sliced up on any sandwich or party tray.
The appearance of her cut is pretty pretty. The skin is easily separated entirely, and sometimes you have to suffer while you clean the sausage from the shell The smell of this Italian salami is inviting with its spices.
I just want to eat it as soon as possible. The aroma of the sausage is really pleasant, appetizing, spices are heard. And the taste is generally gorgeous. Moderately salted, but salted, and this is noticeable as usual in raw smoked sausages.
Not very hard, really high quality, tasty meat sausage.
This salami has the paper and ‘milk’ coating like the Gallo salami had in my youth. One I bought a few months back in California didn’t have the rind but came sealed in a plastic envelope inside the paper wrapper, a state requirement perhaps.
That salami didn’t have quite the same taste as this type. The paper rind variety, IMO, is superior in taste. Although a bit expensive, four pounds for $42 is much less expensive than other vendors selling various sizes of this brand salami.
Every “chub” of salame goes through an unhurried, comprehensive process, which includes three weeks in our state-of-the-art Travaglini drying rooms. Properly aged to perfection, the salame chubs form a gray-white powdery layer on their exterior, the sign of real Italian dry salame.
This salami is quite delicious and filling. It is a perfect size to snack on. I would happily get this again and again, and it would be perfect for a cheese and cracker tray. It would also be good in a sandwich as well.
I like this product it is pretty tasty. You can eat them right out of the package or you can add them to something. I like to add them to my turkey sandwiches as a fatty component or I like to add them to my burgers with some melted mozzarella cheese on top.
Wish I could eat this everyday. Excellent taste. I’ve tried other brands but just not the same. This is one of the best products. Have been in love with this since I was a little girl. Do they not sell it in stores? I’ve been looking since I moved to North Carolina in 2014 and can’t find it.

This try is great for noshing. The lid is nice and can keep the food for a couple more days if you want to graze over it for a week. The ratio of cheese and meats to crackers is perfect. Worth the price for what you get.
Never had any issues with the expiration date, they have a pretty good shelf life.
This is a delicious party tray! Grabbed this for a mamas get together and it was a hit. The kids loved it as well. Everything tasted fresh and it was all individually wrapped, which is great if you don’t need to open certain ones.
This was really good! My family loved it! The meats are a little greasy so definitely need moderation, but it was a great snack for several days. The cheese doesn’t last too long once the package is opened, so be sure you want to open both or just open one at a time.
I did finish some cheese slices today (day 3 of being opened and refrigerated) and they were starting to dry out a little.

It stinks, literally stinks! As soon as you open the pkg this rotten smell hits you! Geez! The pkg date is fine so after that initial blast dissipated a bit, l tasted it just to see. l don’t know what to say.
lt does seem edible. Taste isn’t horrible, but this is not salami at all as l know it. l have been eating Italian lunchmeats all my life and Genoa Salami happens to be my favorite. This Margherita brand Genoa Salami doesn’t even come close to any l’ve had in over 70 yrs.
l would never buy this brand again. Now l have to add that l did not purchase it from Walmart. From other reviews l’ve seen it doesn’t appear to matter where you get it, it’s the product not the store.
Ready for any occasion, this box holds an abundance of good eating. It’s packed with our best natural cheeses. Combine the cheese and sausage-and a party awaits! Colby, Brick, Sharp Cheddar and Monterey Jack-ready for munching Trio of Italian, Original and Garlic Summer Sausages 2 lbs.
My mom received this as a gift from my boyfriend and she is in love. She let me try a couple slices of the sausage and cheeses and they are to die for. This gift set is cheaper than other big named cheese/meat sets and is just as good if not better quality.
The cheese is perfectly aged and fresh and the different flavored sausages are to die for. Thank you for such a great gift, we will be ordering again.

This is a final step to increase the attractiveness of your sausages. Can be added to burger patties, but in all honesty it is just to expensive to use where a slice looks nice. I am excited to use this with a stuffer this year.
From my experience stufling with a grinder, pretty well makes this dissapear. For that reason I would not recommend it to be used that way. Side note, this does keep well in the freezer for use later.
Use in my summer sausage mixes and also my Jerky mixes I make both tubed and use a jerky gun to spread out and then use Dehydrator to cook The rolls are smoked until 165 degree in middle them put in cold water to stop the cooking.
put in frig over night then cut in half and vacuum sealed. Best cheese to use I have tried other cheeses and they leak out of meat while cooking. Try it you will love it.
Party foods don’t have to be only chips and dip. Instead, you can use the Busseto Charcuterie Sampler (18 oz. ) to liven up any gathering. With prosciutto, dry coppa and sweet soppressata, your guests will have plenty from which to choose.

All 3 meats were tasty and prepared properly to pair with fruits and vegetables. I liked all three (Prosciutto, Sopressata & Dry Coppa) but enjoyed their Prosciutto & Dryy Coppa the best. The Sweet sopressata is good too, but I think I still perfer salami instead.
Definately a great buy & I will be purchasing this item again.
These meats are very tasty. I even served them side by side with some of our best meats at a party for a taste test, people thought that they were amazing and could not figure out which was which! The taste when paired with crackers and cheese is something that the misses and I love to enjoy with a glass of red wine to wind down after a long roundday.

I found this at my local Walmart and tried this brand for the first time. It makes for a great afternoon snack! Each piece has almost 4g of protein. It’s pretty tasty right out of the fridge and the cheese is creamy.
It’s a bit salty for me so I eat this in small bites. Love the resealable and flat packaging that’s very easy for me to store in the fridge.
Love these. The taste is excellent. I wrapped them in puff pastry and they were delicious. Great for an easy snack or to serve as canapes. Be sure to use an egg wash to seal edges if you wrap them and heat them in oven or microwave because cheese will melt out.

These aren’t incredibly healthy, but they sure are good! 👍🏻 #HillshireSnacking #SmallPlates #InfluensterEats #SnackTime #Charcuterie #Lunch #Voxbox.
I am obsessed. I tried these on a whim looking for an “adult lunchable” for those mornings when I’m running out the door and don’t have time to pack. The salami has great flavor and the toasted rounds are a nice switch from crackers, but it’s the gouda that has won my heart.
Definitely my new favorite cheese. I just can’t get enough of these snack packs.
Here I am about to take my little snacking lunch break and eat my delicious salame and cheese crackers with my toasted rounds and I open up my product and to my surprise I have only TWO toasted rounds.
The disappointment on my face. Womp Womp. The saddness I feel only being able to make two snacky snacks with my cheese and salame rounds.

Hillshire Farm has been consumed by my family for years. Now, with the introduction of “Un-Cured” products, I will stop buying Hillshire Farm. I purchased “Un-Cured” Hard Salami ultra-thin sliced … then, after taking one bite! … I tossed the Hillshire Farm product into the trash.
Why is Hillshire Farm, which was founded in 1934, changing its products? First, Hillshire Farm has apparently forgotten their older satisfied consumers (age 40 and older) and is now focused its marketing to millennials, as this age group is shifting away from animal products.
However, there is no scientific evidence to prove cured meats are unhealthy. “Un-Cured” changes the texture, color, taste. Taste. “Un-Cured” meats taste putrid.
Actually almost did not buy it when I saw uncured on the label. I usually cannot eat more than a few slices at a time when I buy your salami. I have been unable to stop craving it since lunch. I am on vacation and my choices at the resort were limited when I went shopping.
I bought the ultra thin uncured salami and some cream cheese. I wrapped some cream cheese between two slices of salami and I am “hooked”! I read some of the negative reviews on here and I do not understand what they were tasting.
I’m so sorry to say this since I like the company. This “hard” salami is hands down the absolute worst that I have ever had. It’s not the taste so much as it is the texture of it. I was so so so very disappointed.
It has a rubbery texture. It’s not that it is difficult to chew. It’s just that it is like chewing on a big flat rubber band. I can’t stand it. I will only ever eat my store brand hard salami ever again after sampling this stuff.
I have have it cold, gently heated and fried. The nasty rubber texture remained. Three strikes and they are out. Yuck.
Inspired by Italian recipes, this flavorful salami is handcrafted from select cuts of pork and flavored with the perfect amount of red wine. You can taste the care and craftsmanship in every slice. For anyone who really loves rich and savory flavors, this Dry Salami will quickly become their favorite!.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when my husband and I purchased this one Christmas at a Hickory Farms store. We got home and cut it open to have with some wine. Hands down, the best thing I’ve ever had! We enjoyed it so much that we ordered some more from the website in a couple of months and had it delivered to our home.
I highly recommend! Be careful because it’s addictive lol.
I was very excited to try this as I’ve enjoyed Hickory Farms for years. I typically like salami but this? It was in a word, DISGUSTING. So much fat, impossible to chew, and the taste was awful. I thought it was spoiled.
Everyone in the house tried it and agreed it was inedible. Definitely will not be buying again.
Let me first say I usually like Hickory Farms meats but this one no. The dry salami smells soured and the taste is the same. I was unsure if it is suppose to smell like that or not and I am like the other user I usually don’t throw food away but.
Also Hickory Farms you should somehow put on the label or website about this product. That is just wasteful food for users.
Done in the smoky, savory Neapolitan style, this Napoli Salami is smoked over applewood giving it a complex and hearty flavor. Its mellow taste makes it a great snack to pair with an assortment of dried fruits, cheeses and much more.
Made with only premium, vegetarian-fed pork for salumi you can feel good about. Slow-cured and 100% gluten-free. Made in the USA. Keep cool and refrigerate after opening.
This salumi is great! Very flavorful and not too salty. I used this in an Italian-inspired cold pasta dish, and was so pleased with the result! It marries so well with a fruity olive oil-based vinaigrette, exuding fabulous flavor! A necessary buy for those, like me, who appreciate a great cheese plate.
Hand-crafted according to century-old Salumiere traditions found in Northern Italy, Boar’s Head Genoa Salami boasts a robust flavor from an expert blend of pork with peppercorns. Boar’s Head foods are made to standards that are rarely found today.
When you want the best, ours is the name you can trust.
Never ever ever buy this product ever. Why would you want to own something from boars head. Especially when it has the head of an animal on it. And it’s not a Q and the animal looks very mean. Kind of like that opposite version I miss piggy in the Muppets that is very mean.
Definitely do not wanna buy this especially when it is salami. Which I’m not even sure what animal that is I think it’s pork so why would I wanna eat it. You know this is awful marketing disgusting.
I am really weird with meats. I do not like when there is a toughness to my deli meat. Boar’s head is always a safe brand to buy. Tastes great. High quality, although it does tend to be more expensive.
All of the meats from Boars Head are good, flavorful. I love the salami with Boars Head Swiss Cheese. I will purchase this brand for the rest of my life. The price is a little higher than other brands but the quality cannot be matched.
Oscar Mayer Cotto Salami is a great choice for making delicious sandwiches at home, at work or as part of a lunch. This fully cooked lunch or snack meat has the cotto salami taste you know and love. Oscar Mayer Cotto Salami is made with quality meats, such as chicken and beef, with pork added.

Keep sliced Oscar Mayer Cotto Salami refrigerated in the recloseable 8 ounce package to maintain freshness.
Today I picked up Oscar Meyer Cotto Salami from a local grocery store. I was surprised at the cost of the product being so reasonably priced at $2. 50. When I got home I immediately started to make a sandwich with the Salami since I was so eager to try it.
At first I wanted to try the Salami with bread only so I didn’t add any condiments to my sandwich. After making the sandwich I took a couple bites and was pleasantly surprised at how flavorful the salami was.
It tasted pretty good which was shocking because normally I would only eat fresh cut meat from the deli when it comes to sandwiches. It had great taste, an abundance of taste, very easy to use and create a sandwich with, and you get a pretty decent amount of salami for a small price.
My 11 month old baby boy was crawling around the kitchen while I was preparing my sandwich and getting ready to write this review. He crawled over to me and pulled himself up on my legs to check out what I was making and more than likely to see what he could get so I decided to let him try it.
He is a pretty picky eater for only being 11 months old, so bad to the point where he doesn’t even like bananas! Well my little picky eater is scarfing this Salami down and doing a celebration dance with each bite.
Safe to say he loves it. I would definitely buy this product again. This review was collected as part of a promotion, and the opinions are my own.
Oscar Mayer Bologna is a fantastic treat for the whole family. I say treat because we don’t buy it often as it certainly isn’t the most healthful or wholesome of the lunch meats available. However, on that occasion where you aren’t up to cook for hours but still want to provide something that fills bellies and puts smiles on faces, Oscar Mayer Bologna does the job.
We use it to make fried Bologna sandwiches. Just put a few slices into a frying pan until crisp, throw them on two pieces of toasted bread and melt on the griddle with a slice of cheese. The taste will take you back to childhood.
I’m 31 and I’ve been eating Oscar Mayer Bologna for as long as I can remember. So yummy and nostalgic. But, like I said, probably the healthiest. This review was collected as part of a promotion, and the opinions are my own.
I used to love Oscar Meyer bologna when I was a kid! We always had it in the fridge. I hadn’t had it in a while so we grabbed it recently. When I took the very first bite, I was so disappointed. It tasted very grainy – like little pieces of grit through out.
I thought maybe it was just that slice so I took out a few more and made cheese and lunch meat roll ups. Nope – it was every slice. I tried the second container we bought and still the same thing. Not sure if they changed the way they make it or I got a bad batch but I will not be buying this again.

Our Wine-Infused Salame Small Plate meat snack features chef-curated ingredients and flavors such as the spice of cured salame and rich notes of garlic for a truly elevated snacking experience.

Includes one 2. 76 ounce package. Were big believers in a little thing called snack time. To us snacking is not about rushing or mindless eating. Its about turning a few stolen moments into an elevated celebration that deserves to be savored.
Were here to turn snacking into an occasion, and youre invited.
These are so delicious! I stock these in my work fridge for days I don’t have time to go out to lunch, etc. they always hit the spot and filling enough for me to get me through my day. I wish I could buy just these toasted rounds! Please come out with a package of just the breads! Almost ALWAYS, there is at least ONE bread/cracker that is broken to tiny pieces and it bums me out every single time.
Today, I ate a pack that was short missing one cracker/breads and sadly they have tripled in price recently so I’ll be backing off for a while. I still highly recommend them all! This one is my fav!.
In general they are fairly satisfying. I started buying the 4 packs from Costco (which they’re now out of for going on a month) but, It seems like every other plate has issues. Either the cheese slices were sliced unevenly thin and were not full squares.
Or the crackers, which are good in general, are burned and/or broken, That makes them taste, well it makes them taste like… you got it! A burned piece of toast. All in all I can’t recommend them, especially in the single packs because you may end up getting one that is messed up.
it’s just disappointing when you end up getting one that has the quality control issues not to mention the waste of the money you work your butt off for so that you can afford to buy these convenient plate things so you dont have to buy everything individually and prep it yourself.
At least if you did it that way you wouldn’t end up with 25% of it going to waste.
I’ve been buying the snack, pack of the salami and white cheddar cheese with toasted rounds for years now. I’ve never had an issue, but ever since the inflation in the world, I am always missing something.
There’s never enough of one thing in each pack, whether it’s not enough salami, not enough cheese, or not enough rounds to go with the rest of the items. I’ve noticed this in the past couple of months yet I still continue to buy them.
Please make sure you’re stocking these items in the pack correctly as they are not cheap and I expect to get what I’m paying for.
Oscar Mayer Cotto Salami Slices Quality meat packed with flavor is a big part of what makes good Cotto salami that the whole family will love. These slices are vacuum-packed for freshness and have just 50 calories per slice.
Make the Perfect Cold Cut Sandwich Mild yet distinct flavor makes Oscar Mayer’s Cotto Salami ideal for sandwiches. It’s a fully cooked salami, made from USDA-inspected chicken, beef and pork, and it comes in a handy reclosable package.
Raise the bar on your brown bag sandwich lunches by adding this delicious salami to your cold cut selection.
IšverstiShow in original languageI was very pleased with Oscar Mayer’s salami hard sliced deli meat. This is my first time purchasing pre-sliced salami, so I was very excited to try it! I was impressed by how thinly sliced each piece was as well as the size of each slice.
It fit perfectly on an Italian-style sandwich I made– not too overbearing and only two slices covered the entire sandwich! The salami added just the right amount of “kick” to my sandwich, and it was absolutely delicious! In the past I’ve been hesitant to purchase salami from the lunch meat section of the store because I was worried it would be too salty, fatty, and/or thick.
Luckily Oscar Mayer quelled all my concerns with their delightfully thin sliced hard salami. I definitely recommend you try it ASAP! Oh! And my dogs also loved it! This review was collected as a part of a promotion, and the opinions are my own.
IšverstiShow in original languageOscar Mayer Hard Salami is a great sandwich or snack meat with natural smoked flavor. Oscar Mayer Hard Salami, made with natural smoke flavor added, is a great option for sandwiches or a snack between meals.
Made with quality meat, this fully cooked hard salami has the classic salami taste you know and love with a hint of smokiness. Oscar Mayer Hard Salami is always a great choice for making a salami lunch at home or at work.
Use this sliced hard salami to make a tasty salami and cheese sandwich for school lunches, or add it to your favorite charcuterie tray. Hard salami sandwich slices are also delicious on salads or with cheese and crackers.
Keep Oscar Mayer Hard Salami refrigerated in the recloseable 8 ounce package.
IšverstiShow in original languageI usually purchase deli hard salami, but on a recent trip to Walmart, I noticed Oscar Mayer Beef Cotto Salami and thought it sounded like it would be a delicious change of pace.
I was right. When I got home, I didn’t feel like cooking, so I made a salami sandwich. The Oscar Mayer Beef Cotto Salami had perfectly sliced, substantial slices that just peeked out from the bun. It didn’t’ taste like meat from the deli.
It was somehow better. This lunchmeat has chunks of flavorful peppercorns sprinkled throughout and that was a nice touch (in appearance AND flavor). All in all, I was pleasantly surprised. My taste buds and belly were happy.
I’ll definitely be purchasing again! This review was collected as part of a promotion, and the opinions are my own.
Our Three Pepper Dry Salami is made with spicy white pepper, cayenne, and crushed red peppers, before being cured by a master salumiere for a full-bodied flavor that builds in heat with each wonderful bite.
Enjoy this spicy salami alone or paired with our 3-Year Aged Cheddar or creamy Triple creme for the ultimate flavor experience. Makes a great gift for someone who enjoys a little spice to a savory dry salami.
I bought this at a kiosk because it was new to me. Now, I’m addicted! The meat flavor is concentrated, and the three pepper version is spicy but not hot. I love it sliced very thinly on an unsalted saltine.
I’m buying more, plus the standard dry salami, to freeze for when I come out of my meat coma! Don’t be fooled by the visible fat (which all salami will have. ) This is not fatty, nor greasy, and it does not leave a fatty aftertaste like some will.
There are many types of cheese that can be paired with salami, and the best way to determine which one to choose is to experiment with different flavors and textures until you find a combination that you enjoy.
Some of the most popular cheeses to pair with salami include cheddar, Swiss, provolone, and mozzarella. Each cheese has a different flavor and texture that can complement the flavor of the salami, so it is important to try out different combinations to find the perfect match.
