Best Cat For Catching Rats (2023 Updated)

Some native cotton mice had gotten into my home, and I didn’t want to kill them because they aren’t usually household pests. When I realized there was a female mouse with young present, I got this from my local Ace, hoping I could catch the whole family and release them together rather than orphan the young.

Caught three young mice in this trap in one night-hopefully the whole litter-and an adult, presumably a parent, in a nearby Hav-a-Hart trap (also purchased at Ace). The Tin Cat was so much easier to set up and to clean afterward than other live traps, and it really works.

I only wish I’d been able to get the version with the see-through top.

It a very nice concept except the mice are able to come out by pushing down the palette. The food was gone so I checked myself and I found out that I was able push down the palette a little bit with minimum effort.

A field mouse just need 1/4 of an inch to go through a crack. I’m sure those mice had a good laugh at me after they escape. The worst thing is I tried a second time with no success. I’m so ashamed.

It has now been a couple months without a feline in our home, and the mice certainly have noticed. We got this trap because it seemed less finicky, was cheaper than other traps, and can hold multiple mice.

Using peanut butter as bait works great, place it right in the center, not near an edge, so the mouse has to enter fully. The first night we caught one adult mouse. You could hear it once caught. It really tried to escape, trying to chew bars, and get back out the way it came in, but the trap mechanism did not fail! I released her into the local cemetery the next morning.

The next day I put it back in the same dark location (a closet), and the next day there were THREE small, not full-grown mice. I couldn’t believe it! Cool, got the whole family! Another trip to the cemetery.

After a couple days, we moved it to another location where a mouse had been seen. The next night, we caught one more adult mouse! So in just over 10 days, we’ve caught 5 mice. The Tin Cat is in the basement now, and if there are any mice down there, I imagine it will catch them in short order.

More effective than I was expecting! Definitely recommended!.

The first day I left this trap out I caught 15 rats in one afternoon!! If you have a serious rat problem this will definitely help put a dent in the population. So far I haven’t even had it for a week and have caught over 25 rats.

One thing I will say about this trap is that disposing the rats after catching them is not for everyone. There is one tiny little door at the bottom of the trap and you have to shake the trap around until the rats fall out into the trash.

I honestly don’t know how I have become such a desensitized monster, I guess after the last year of seeing them terrorize my ducks I have become less empathetic. Getting rid of any pests will suck no matter what you do, but this trap seems to be one of the most humane methods.

100% would recommend.

I HAVE A BARN FULL OF EXHIBITION POULTRY WITH FEED IN FRONT OF THEM AT ALL TIMES. There are bins full of TONS of shelled corn to feed them stored here also. At night, the rats crawl out from surrounding fields, tunnels, crevices in concrete, hay bales.

I have been holding them at bay with hundreds of dollars of high potent rat bait from expensive exterminators. They eat the bait, many die, more appear. First night I put out the ratinator along a back barn wall, with a poison cube and piece of sardine for bait, I caught 16 rats of all sizes! It was SO EASY and non toxic to simply place the trap full of rats,in the plastic drown tub provided , filled with barn water, and sink.

After a few minutes of doing chores, I lifted the trap out, emptied it ,and did my count. Bait cube consumption has gone WAY DOWN in a couple weeks using the Ratinator. The trap will work for a LONG TIME!!! NOT like having to buy more bait cubes every week! MONEY well spent for years to come.

Wish the TSC stores stocked these!.

We keep ducks and struggle to keep rat populations down. We don’t want to use poisons or glue, snap traps are unreliable and no one wants to empty them, as well as being potentially dangerous for other animals.

I got this trap-followed recommendation to tie the door open for one day and let rats eat the bait. Next morning untied the door and caught SEVEN rats by the time I checked it at 3pm. Gassed them all with co2 right in the trap and shook them out, rebaited and all ready for a new batch.

This is life-changing for my household!.

I saw a few bad reviews before I bought this trap so I was a bit fearful that it would not work. But I was desperate. My cat had brought a mouse into the house and didn’t deserve to die for my cat’s bad behaviour.

So I got this trap, set it with peanut butter. And the mouse was caught by the next morning. It is now back in the field living its best life.

Just purchased. Followed the easy directions. Late evening I placed the trap where signs of mice activity appeared. Checked in the morning and had captured three. Great results! Will continue baiting for next month or so to ensure I have all the relatives.

Money well spent.

I’ve purchased more of these than I should have, if I’d have known they are so cheaply made and worthless. I’ve had every complaint imaginable, traps not locking open, bait gone and trap not tripped, bait and trap gone, and rarely do I actually catch one.

They are difficult to clean without having to get your hands into the filth, and it’s just a poor design, poor functioning, and barely capable of catching a rat. These are so lightweight that one rat is wearing one as an adornment and went about his business.

The trap and him are gone! I tried the wooden Tomcat traps and these are worse. I can’t get a package with 2 good traps in ANYTHING I buy from Tomcat, regardless of what it is. I’m so disgusted because I see Made in USA on the package, and to see this make me ill.

Is this what Made in USA means now? OMG, we’re in bigger trouble than I thought! Tomcat has ZERO Quality control or quality assurance and doesn’t seem to care. Maybe it’s time to move to Costa Rica? For God’s sake, have some dignity and respect for what you sell.

This is ridiculous! EVERYTHING YOU SELL IS CHEAP CRAP!! I’M DONE! I’ve never been so disappointed in any product!.

As fall has approached and the farmers are taking down the crops the field mice seem to love to scurry into nearby houses. As the weather drops we seem to see them around more even with getting a cat.

I am absolutely terrified of the things so getting somthing to help was a need. Having 2 dogs and 1 cat we couldn’t do the sticky traps or the set ones as the animals would set them off. We also did not want to use poison and risk that alone.

So here we are looking for more options and I see this. This is very easy to set up and we have caught 2 so far. I would like to say this has been the best trap used for us. It actually works. I like how this has the poison inside and protected so nothing else will get ahold of it.

The window is a nice addition so you can see if the bait has been messed with at all and needs refilled. Look forward to it helping out home this year and not having the pesky problem.

If your cat likes kickers, give this a try. I bought several different types of kickers at once and he shredded the other ones and this one is still standing – even though it gets ravaged every day. The tail is good at enticing the little predator into attacking.

It looks real enough that a cat can pretend it’s prey and is very SOLID feeling. Not like a weak little understuffed kicker that he just rips through. Something about not having that slack in the material seems to make it hold up better.

Try it! I don’t think you (or your cat) will be disappointed.

My cat has a white rat and enjoys wrestling with it. My sister got a gray one for her inside cat, who also enjoys it. Her adopted outside cat started coming in and playing with the inside cat’s rat, so she finally got one for her, too.

But the other day raccoons came to raid her food and took the rat, too. This one is to replace the one the raccoons took (they must like it, too!).

This was slightly larger than I expected but my cat still plays with it. She prefers the larger mice anyway, not those tiny ones, and this is a little bigger than that. She can be holding and biting it’s head and kicking it with her feet at the same time.

It’s well made and should last quite a while.

Mice are trapped before they enter the house. Clean up us easy. Multiple mice can be trapped before cleaning is required. The trap is heavy enough to ensure that it stays in one place. The enclosed design make it difficult for little fingers and dogs to get into.

My motorhome is a prime target for mice and pack rats. I have a total of 18 of these traps and find them effective. I also use the knesse sticky boards inside the trap. I place them by each wheel and 4 in side the RV.

It is not uncommon to empty each trap of 3 to 4 mice at a time every 2 weeks. The other traps are other buildings. Since I have pets poison is not and option.

In my local vicinity, I went to four different farm/seed stores and ended up purchasing their smallest live trap, as I knew this year that they had found access into my house. However, the trap purchased, though an extra-small, was far too large for tiny mice, and the trap was always empty, though missing the bait.

Next to Walmart online. This small container, was more enclosed and therefore, did not allow for escaping. It is solid, sturdy and allows for easy release. The only reason it didn’t warrant a five star rating, was that the interior door will often slam shut on the little critter’s foot or tail.

Don’t care to maim them before releasing them.

This product completely solved my rat problem! I have a second home out of state that I travel to once a month for work and rats decided to move in during in the weeks that I was away. I could literally see them running around my house in the security cams.

So gross! I travel with my dog and I was worried about secondary poisoning and of course, the smell of decay. When I found this product it seemed to fit my needs. I left trays of these pellets with attractant in places where I saw rat activity before I left for 3 weeks.

When I returned I saw signs of rats again but the pellets had been eaten and did not see any signs of new rat activity. I left the pellets out just in case but I’ve been checking my security cams and not a single rat in sight.

I am so happy!.

We had a rat infestation under our deck. Every night just as I was about to fall asleep they started chewing on some wood. The deck was above my bedroom window so it was impossible to ignore. I tried all sorts of electronic repellents, stuffing mint plants and spraying peppermint oil around.

Nothing worked. I decided to try RatX since I did not want to poison cats around the neighborhood. The first week or two went by without much luck with the RatX. Rats were as active as ever. I decided to melt some peanut butter and mix in the RatX to make it more inviting.

A few days went by and activities diminished slowly. I have not heard them now for about a week. I hope that they are gone for good! Make sure to keep RatX dry for it to be useful.

All I can say is wow!!! This product is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! This product out does TomCat! I called them and complained and left a review saying we had already caught 7 mice with another product (your product) and absolutely nothing with theirs! I’ve already bought 10 and I’m actually going to be purchasing more in just a few minutes! I love that it’s a humane trap too!.

Works well, repeatedly catching mice in our basement and kitchen. The clear plastic lets you see at a glance whether you have caught a mouse or not. The springs wore out after a couple years but, since we found this trap more effective than two others we’d tried, we decided to buy this same model again.

I bought this mousetrap because a bigger one I previously bought failed to catch a mouse in my Parents’ house. Upon receiving this, I inspected it. The first thing I noticed was that there was hardly any ventilation.

That scared me because I wanted to catch the mouse and keep him alive so I can set it free elsewhere. I read other reviews on this mousetrap claiming that their mouse had suffocated to death inside. I can see why.

To solve the problem, I used a thin drillbit to drill a bunch of small holes in the top of the trap to create more ventilation. I then baited it with peanut butter and put it in the space the mouse moved through each night.

Low and behold within an hour, I heard the “snap” and checked the mousetrap to find the little critter inside. I took him a distance from my house and set him free. Mission accomplished.

This rat trap is so effective, and so CHEAP, that if cities wanted to control their rat infestations — they could. I’ve used these traps for 20 years, and there’s nothing better. 1) Bait the paddle first with smooth, processed peanut butter (rhymes with “snippy”) covering the metal paddle, just enough, and make sure you jam a little under the raised triangle “tongue” — that’s what it’s there for.

2) With the paddle side AWAY from you, pull the spring-loaded death bar towards you with one hand on the bar, and one hand holding the trap on your side. NEVER let your hand be on the paddle side when setting, unless you want to break a finger.

3) When you’ve got the death bar on “your side” of the trap, hold the bar in place while carefully placing the trip-bar against the trip-mechanism. Once you’ve got “traction” with the trip bar, apply the same pressure with your OTHER hand, and remove your first “pull-back” hand.

I go left to right. When the second hand gets removed, you’ve successfully set your trap. 4) Carefully place the trap with the bait paddle side against the wall. That’s also the easiest maneuver, fortunately.

One of the many elegant aspects of this can’t-be-improved trap. When the rat devours the delicious peanut butter, and wants that last, hard-to-reach remaining portion under the triangle. they all go for it, and they all meet their demise.

Use a glove, grab the trap with very-dead-rat, and place the whole thing in a plastic bag. Tie it up, throw in the trash can, and get on with your life, knowing that your target had a tasty last meal.

Here’s how to Use them: Use peanut butter as a paste to hold a piece of DOG KIBBLE on the trigger plate. When you only use PB, their tiny little tongues can lick it clean without triggering. If you don’t have a dog, a neighbor will happily give you a small handful.

Be very careful to not touch any other part of the trap with peanut butter residue on your fingers. This will prevent false triggers and catching only parts of mice. You don’t want the tail. Last, be sure the trigger plate is aligned in the center rather than a crooked angle.

This will ensure that you have a hair trigger and the mouse face is right in the middle when it springs. Don’t re-use these cheap traps. Mice can smell mouse blood/ death. A new, properly baited and set one of these will outperform the fancy ones every time… BTW Walmart- I would add a photo, but I’m very disappointed that these aren’t in stock at my local Walmarts (Longmont, CO) I shouldn’t have to order them on Amazon.

This mouse-trap doesn’t work. It is easy to setup, but it is not sensitive enough. You have to apply more pressure than a regular mouse can apply to trigger it. I bought 8 of these, and baited them with some frosting.

The next day all the bait was gone, and none of the traps caught anything. I re-set all the traps, and the same thing happened. Then I bought 8 new traps from a different brand (JAWZ) from Menards, set them up the same way.

And the next day, the first trap caught a mouse, and the bait was still there on the other 7 traps, and there was still same bait on the first one. I grant you that the Victor mouse traps are designed in such a way that I won’t accidently hurt my fingers, but they won’t catch mice either.

I recently got the Tomcat rat & mouse killer child & dog resistant, disposable station for use in a shed where we have issues with mice, especially in the fall and winter. I’m in central PA. We use the shed to store patio and other items during the winter, along with bird feed, seed, and other yard care items.

While I tried to seal the shed as well as I could and ensure that any food sources (e. g. , bird seed and feed) are properly sealed/stored, I still end up finding mouse droppings and bedding each spring when I take patio furniture, etc.

back out. I tried humane mouse traps (placing them along areas where I know, based on scat) that mice travel. Despite baiting them with some tasty treats, the traps didn’t work. It was time to move to more drastic measures.

While I haven’t placed it in the shed yet (it’s not quite time for fall storage here in central PA, it’s getting close), I’m looking forward to seeing just how effective this thing is. Some points to note.

Obviously, when handling this station, use disposable gloves and wash your hands with soap and water after handling. Also, this is not a trap. Nowhere that I saw does the station’s label indicate that it’s a trap.

This is a bait station that contains 0. 01% bromethalin… a lethal nerve agent… and, it is NOT humane. If you’re looking for humane, look elsewhere. I tried humane methods. They didn’t work. While I don’t like the approach this station uses, I’m forced to use it at this point, as all other measures have failed and the mice (not an infestation, but a nuisance just the same) are chewing holes in my shed’s floorboards.

The time for playing nice is over. Would I use this approach in any living space? Not, unless absolutely necessary. You have to understand, the chemical slowly kills the rodent. That means that it ingests the chemical, walks away, and dies.

Where it dies remains to be seen. Hopefully you can reach the dead rodent before it decomposes. Otherwise, you potentially have a whole other set of problems. For use outside, in a shed, where there are no cracks or crevices in which to crawl… yes, I’ll chance finding a dead mouse where I might not otherwise expect to find it.

Also, while the chemical concentration is enough to kill mice, rats, and other rodents, it is not nearly enough to kill cats and dogs (or people)… although they could get mildly sick from the dosage, according to trusted sites.

Do the research on this chemical (using medical/trusted chemical sites) if you’re worried. FWIW, the station is sturdily built. It would be very difficult for any large animal (or person) to get into the housing without mechanical means.

Worth purchasing? That remains to be seen. Based on reviews on other sites (with 10s of thousands of reviews indicating that this device works as designed), the Tomcat Rat & Mouse Killer Child & Dog Resistant, Disposable Station appears to be safe (for non-rodents) and effective.

While I wish humane methods would’ve worked, they didn’t. It’s time for other measures. Based on all that I’ve read about the effectiveness of the chemical (and the concentration) used in the station, and how well I can personally tell you that the station is built (ensuring that nothing gets into the station other than what it was designed to allow), I’m going to give it a four-star rating.

You’ll see lower ratings provided by a few. However, read the ratings closely. The lower ratings are generally offered because the station doesn’t offer a professional-grade chemical and/or because it uses an inhumane lethal nerve agent.

A) Consumers can’t legally get professional grade chemicals… for very legitimate reasons. B) the chemical and concentration used will do its intended job. And, C), you have to go into this purchase knowing that the method of killing the rodent isn’t humane.

Based on my very thorough research, this station will work for my use case, which is why I’m giving it a solid four-star rating.

i set this up before going to bed and in the morning a rat had already eaten half of a poison cake (housed inside the unit). we haven’t seen this invader since, and no more signs of any varmints at all.

Amazing! in ten hours, my rat problem was gone. In the intervening week, no signs of further rats, and no further gnawing on the poison. This may be premature, but i think this worked far better than traditional traps, which i have now thrown away as useless.

I will continue to monitor the poison thru the see-thru window and move this unit around the house and yard. We originally thought we might need several units for our small house and yard, but this one may just be good enough.

This is the first time I have tried a bait station to catch rats that made the mistake of entering my backyard. My neighbors have a chicken coop next to our shared fence and the rats love to steal the chicken feed.

I’ve found several running along the fence line and wanted to make sure they aren’t taking up residence in my yard. I’ve never been a fan of regular mouse traps and I figured if the bait station style of rodent control is good enough for commercial businesses, they certainly would work for my needs as well.

I love that the boxes can be set horizontally or vertically and used both inside or outside. They are also resistant to tampering by children and dogs. The clear lid makes it extremely easy to keep track of how many rodents have been caught by the trap.

So far, one rat has met its demise. Super simple disposal and a product made in the USA are 2 more reasons these bait boxes are my new go to product for rodent control.

I’ve spent forever trying to find a toy my cat would enjoy. I would buy expensive compressed catnip balls, toys that moved, toys that chirped like a bird, etc. She only seemed to like the plane mice.

I needed to get her more active, so I got da cat catcher and she absolutely loves it!! I’ve had to buy several replacements, she likes playing with the mouse attached or buy herself not attached to da cat catcher.

Its the first toy I’ve seen her carry in her mouth and run away with. She comes running whenever she hears the wire move. I found Mickey’s to be the perfect place to buy replacement mice or rats. They ship right away and my cat doesn’t have to wait to have a new rat/mouse to chase around.

Summary at the bottom if you need a TL;DR. My two boys love toys like these, so seeing this advertised as very sturdy and then reading reviews backing that claim I had to have it. Well, sad to say that my cats managed to break it, but it did last a heck of a lot longer than every other toy of this type that I have tried.

First thing they managed to do was completely detach the cord from the stick within the first play session. It was not attached very well, but taping it back on sufficed and it didn’t come back off after (and boy did they try, they love the crinkly sound of the tape).

After the first play session I decided to attached the toy to their kitty tower so they could play with it constantly and the bigger cat was starting to gain too much weight so I needed him to be more playful like the smaller cat.

I attached it by using the rope that they had detached from the tower and twisted the rope and stick together (stick is very flexible), then tied it off. This worked out very well and they quite enjoyed trying to climb the tower and get to the toy at different angles or carrying it up the tower.

Next, after about 2 weeks, they managed to remove the mouse while I was at work. I’m not sure quite how they did it because the connector clasp was still attached. Perhaps they just bent the connector in with their teeth and the mouse came loose? I still haven’t found the mouse, so I have no idea what the state of that is in currently, but it did seem to hold together very well and the last time I had seen it the only issue was a single thread was starting to come unraveled.

They still had a lot of fun playing with the wire, so I left the stick and wire attached to their tower. After a few more weeks I had to remove it because they were bending the wire up so bad I was afraid they might manage to break it off and swallow it.

If it can be done they could do it and I didn’t want to wait to find out if it could be done. Summary: This toy is definitely a lot sturdier than other toys of this type. The stick is flexible but not weak, the wire is solid, and the toy seemed to be well made.

You may need to tape the tip of the stick where it connects to the wire because that was not connected well. If your cats are a little rough on toys and normal ones are just not up for the task, this is a definite buy ‘n’ try.

However, my boys still managed to break it within about a month. I opted for 4 stars because I believe this toy is above average and would recommend it to most people, despite what I experienced with it.

Before these two, I have never nor witnessed cats that were so talented at breaking their toys, so I’m sure for most people this toy would be great.

I have spent so much money buying cat toys and bringing them home for them to just play with a nearby piece of lint or a pen haha they are never interested in other toys for longer than a minute but the go rat is their go-to.

Sometimes in the middle of the night I’ll wake up to one of them dragging the cat wand behind him with the rat in his mouth (stone hallway). When he wants to play he will bring it to me and then use it to drag me to his favorite place to play.

He likes to take it wherever he goes. Yes it falls apart very easily and it’s annoying but they love it so much it’s worth it. I just buy four or five at a time. I really wish the go rat was available in stores but I can’t find it anywhere.

Please don’t get rid of them! My cats will be so depressed.

This is an excellent live trap if you want to relocate the mice to a nature reserve like I do. It is well constructed and works well with some peanut butter spread on little pieces of paper inside. Last month, I caught four mice over night using this trap.

It is easy to clean and reuse. I recommend it!.

This may not be a very sophisticated product. It’s a very simple trap, for when you don’t have high expectations for material quality, but same results as the other better quality ones. I like the clear lid.

Makes it easy to see if there’s been any guests.

This black, clear lidded and large sized JT Eaton Little Pete multiple catch mousetrap is great. There’s plenty of space in the trap, and I love that you don’t have to open the trap to see if anything is in it.

It minimizes the handling of rodents, and is not as gnarly to clean up as a spring loaded trap.

I bought these for my cats when I adopted them 2 years ago. I find the big mice in various locations of the house on a daily basis. BUT the toys that are loved the MOST are the pompoms! One of my cats goes INSANE for these! She will bring them to me 2 at a time in her little mouth and drop them in front of me so we can play fetch.

They always end up Under the couch or fridge. I tried buying some off brand pompoms but they are no match for the Hartz brand! I do wish that the pompoms were sold separately! I highly recommend these toys!!.

I don’t know about you but my cat loves the green mouse in this package. I don’t know what it is about the green mouse. I have searched the internet for this mouse and could not find it. It only comes with this Hartz Just For Cats Cat Toy Variety Pack.

She has played with every toy in the package. The balls, orange mouse, the tails. But her favorite is the green mouse, We got this pack from a friend that gave us the cat. She was 11 weeks old at the time.

And although she has played with all the toys in the variety pack she loves the green mouse. She plays so much with the green mouse that she loses it. Don’t know where. But it’s gone. So I searched the internet to replace the mouse.

Could not find it. So I brought 3 Variety Packs from Walmart. And she lost all three green mice from the variety packs. So now I order 6 Variety Packs from Walmart. And she is happy again with the green mouse.

All I am saying is this Hartz Just For Cats Cat Toy Variety Pack does it for me and my cat. She does play with all the items in this pack and she seems to have a great time. PS if she doesn’t have the green mouse she will play with the blue mouse that comes with the package.

But she only goes nuts for the green mouse, who can figure?.

I got this about 2 years ago. It was for a new kitten. He was about 5 months old. He gave me more joy watching him play with that Rat than I had had in a while. I tragically lost him about 2 months later.

I recently adopted a new kitten. I kept the Rat on my desk as a remembrance of Buff. Than Pax found it. I’m getting joy back again. I will buy this again and again. I’ll always remember Buff and the joy he gave me.

This has been my kittens favorite toy of all time. It’s also very cute and a nice size! She carries it everywhere with her and likes to fetch it. She will even come to you when you shake the bell inside.

We have bought 6 replacements just in case something happens to it!.

Just got this in the mail today. I thought it would be good for my cat who likes to carry around a particular stuffed animal. This mouse is bigger than the usual mouse toys for cats, floppy, and has a bell inside.

It’s very soft and pretty cute. It seemed a little understuffed, but I squished it around a bit to get the stuffing spread out a little more. Cat immediately took it out of my hand and started jumping, flipping, kicking, biting, swatting, throwing, and having a wonderful time with this toy.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen him so excited about a new toy before. Definitely a winner, he wore himself out playing and had to take a nap.

It does the job it was designed for back in 1924 just as good today. I noticed alot of complaints about the plastic window incorporated into the lid. Just turn the lid around if you’re scared the mice will chew their way out.

It slides on either way. You can still check the trap through the little holes in the side. I also noticed complaints about it not catching anything. Try putting some bait in a bottle lid inside for bait and make sure to set it against a wall.

Mice are basically blind. They use their whiskers to feel their way along the walls. I’ve caught plenty using unbaited kill traps by setting the trigger side against a wall. Also there’s a hole on both sides for them to go into.

You could also add tomcat bait cubes to poison anything that gets inside if you wanted to use poison but are scared of cats or other critters eating them while they’re running around. Also a little of that scent remover that hunters use helps if you’re placing your trap where people don’t usually go.

I needed to catch a lot of mice to feed an orphaned owl family. A friend loaned me an older model of this trap. She said that it had caught five mice the first time she set it, but never any after that.

What I discovered, was that I needed to clean the trap with soap and water after each catch. Then it worked great. I have bought 5 of them and they all work great. Solid construction. Here are a few reasons I didn’t give it 5 stars.

A mouse chewed through the plastic view window. I love the window, but perhaps it could me mirrored so the mice don’t see it as a possible opening. Also, the instructions ought to state that the spring should not be turned more than 7 times to work effectively.

And, some mice do get killed in it. They try to get out the hole they came in, and the spring catches them. The most serious problem, though, is the difficulty in sliding the top off to release the mice.

It’s just too tight. Otherwise it is a great product!.

Out of all the mouse traps that I have bought, this by far is the best mouse trap on the planet. I have a rental property and these mouse traps continue to gather multiple mice at a time. And you dont even need any bait.

Its just unreal how effective these mouse traps are. I highly recommend them.

I’ve been using Tomcat for quite a while in both the chunk and pellet form. However, the other day I decided to change the cabin air filter on my pickup and was amazed at the number of Tomcat pellets that the mice (or maybe rats) had piled up in there.

It looked like they were putting in a big store for winter weather. I also was cleaning out some stuff in the garage and found a pretty big pile in some boxes. I’ve rarely found a dead mouse over the last 6 months, so I’m going to find something with a different chemistry and stick to chunks only.

I don’t appreciate spending money on something that appears to be feeding the rodents instead of killing them.

I had bought a few packs from eBay in August because sticky traps mouse traps just wasn’t doing it figured well let’s give it a try… put them in my basement- drop ceiling where I hear them non stop – etc after a few days no more noises but faint smell of dead mice and huge flies in my house… so I just bought fly traps hung one in basement and other in dining room on my ceiling fan chain… so that helped with catching the flies I highly recommend getting the sticky fly traps….

But over all it worked…. So now winter in here I’m having the same problem again now I figured ok I’m going BIG get his time and buying the whole bucket full of it in hopes of it doing it’s magic again for me !!!! Overall I think The stuff works great and as long as it keeps working I will continue buying.

I had something in my barn big enough to make some noise but small enough to get through the floor boards. I started using this on a Tuesday, I put down 2 packets where I saw it running. For 4 more days I put down 2 packets a day.

Each morning they were gone but then on the 5th day, they were still there and they have not been disturbed for a couple of weeks now. Whatever it was, it was a good size. So it probably needed a few doses to have an effect.

But it definitely worked. What I like about the product is that it’s easy to use and I don’t come in direct contact with the poison. Because it’s in a packet, I think it allows the animal to carry it back to its best and possibly share it.

I’m very pleased with this product and the price seems reasonable too.

As my cat is a little older, he was initially attracted to this toy (due to catnip), but after rolling with it for about 2 minutes, he moved on. I could get his attention with it again, and would bat it around a little bit, but again, he lost interest.

I think for a younger, faster, more playful cat this toy would be great. I thnk age wise, my cat is “over” it and loses interest too fast. Overall, toy is a good size, it makes a little noise, which grabs my cat attention, the catnip keeps it for about 2 mins, and then.

hes onto something else. Good toy, just not for seniors.

I received this free for an honest review. My cat is a 1. 5 year old fixed female. She loves mouseies. This she was instantly interested in. The feathers caught her attention first and then the catnip.

She played with it hard for about a half hour, throwing it up and rolling around with it. Then passed out from the playing. I consider this a success. She hasnt gone back to it in recent days but that is only because she has been outside and not needing stimulant from toys.

I received this as a sample and I am so very glad that I picked this mouse. One of my older cats, Annie, loved to play with the wishers and all the ribbons and feathers. However, the kittens, Gloria and George, were having great fun.

They rolled it from the living room to dining room and to kitchen and back. They were having great fun being entertained by this great mouse. Thank you so much.

I used these for many years. They operate on a simple and brilliant idea of a 1-way door. They work, BUT you really have to anchor them between 2 heavy objects or in a corner, or mousie may be able to turn the trap over by rushing around inside it, in which case, goodbye mousie.

Another thing that I didn’t like about the original models, and I have no idea if this has been corrected, is that they have no ventilation holes. You can probably drill them or burn them in yourself with a hot skewer, but I found that if you forgot to re-locate the mouse, it would suffocate inside, which kind of defeats the purpose.

I’ve since moved on to the larger traps with openings at both ends. They’re larger, more expensive, a little bit more difficult to clean, and I have one that has been very well-chewed by its captives, to the point that I have to tape the door at the end down.

This is my second order of these mouse traps. I really like them because they catch the mouse live and you can rehome him to a remote location without harming him. It is very easy to use. There is nothing you need to set and no actions you need to take other than putting the peanut butter inside and a little on the lid to attract him.

He simply pushes the door open to go in and it closes after him and he cannot get back out until you invert the trap to easily release him.

update 1617 I’ve had several of these out at all times for months and have yet to catch a single one with these traps. I suspect that they may be able to escape easily if they get a few hours to try – probably by catching the door along the bottom of the side edge with a claw and pulling it back.

================ I had one of the gravity tip type and it worked perfectly for the first half dozen mice. But then I made the mistake of releasing one too close to home and it got back in. Mice learn and this one learned to never go into one of those again.

They probably learn from each other as well. The gravity tip trap never caught anything again. So I got one of these. “mice cubes”. And after weeks IT HAS NEVER CAUGHT A SINGLE MOUSE – the bait inside has never been touched, despite me seeing at least one frequently.

In all fairness, maybe they transferred the lesson from the first traps over to this one. The big take home point is probably to NEVER release so close to home that they may get back in and then know (and teach the others?) what NOT to do.

Maybe the reason the kill traps are so effective is that they never get a second chance (although you’d think the others would learn from seeing the results) My last move will be to try peanut butter as bait which is rumored to be irresistible.

I’ll update here (if that’s allowed) if it works. There is a slight gap at the edge of the door (has to be since the sides of the trap are tapered to allow release from the mold). I suspect that due to the way they claw like crazy when trapped, a mouse will soon catch the door, pull it back and escape unless taken very soon after they get trapped.

(the gravity tip traps are much more effective at keeping them in once caught) I don’t have much confidence in this design but will give both it (and the gravity tip) one more chance with peanut butter as bait.

This may (or may not) work on naive mice never exposed to traps but on educated mice with exposure to other types of traps it catches NOTHING. NEVER RELEASE A MOUSE SO CLOSE TO HOME THAT IT CAN FIND ITS WAY BACK IN.

Mice very strongly prefer familiar territory for obvious reasons.

I just bought this today this is my second Go Cat product and honestly my cats are obsessed. The other one i have is the “Da Bird” one. I’m not sure how but these have gotten my cats to play like no other wand toy has before.

That is until they break, which they do very very easily. This toy lasted about 3 minutes, my cat caught it in his mouth and wouldn’t let go until the mouse just came right off. I could reattach it because whatever was attaching it to the wand had came off.

I let him just keep the mouse to play with since there was no chance at fixing it. The exact same thing happened with the other one too, it broke easily but there is a way to put that one back together with superglue.

I wish they either fixed the quality or lower the price if they are keeping the quality with how it currently is.

I LOVE the tiny hook that unclasps. It lets me use other mice for example I also bought a 2pk of catnip infused mice-2 feathers for the tail, like a greater racket-tailed drongo it’s ABSOLUTELY GENIUS.

Only & I will say only downside is not enough toys were made for this versatility so I just sewed some tiny hooks of thread to be able to clasp those mice into the wire toy & hes ready to play for HOURS & for a kitten with SO much energy its all quiet which is the BEST for me to get some daytime sleep to be able to work overnights.

He also has this toy inside the car & because of this toy alone hes gotten used to car rides & calmed down while mobile. 5 stars isnt enough.

My cat absolutely LOVES this wand toy. He brings it to me when he wants to play and he fetches it when I toss it. He looks for it and opens the door to where we sometimes put it up. We had one for years and the mouse slowly started disappearing.

It’s now a nub, so I just bought a new one. The new one started losing “fur” pretty quickly. That’s my only complaint. If your cat is not real aggressive with it, it will last and they will love it. I do wish the mouse was attached with something a little stronger than string.

My cat chewed through it when I wasn’t looking. The replacement mice are hard to find and not cheap. Hate to buy a new wand each time. I love that a wire is used, rather than a string, so that has lasted.

Nearly impossible to break or chew.

Some of these you see from different vendors are knock-offs; these are the same quality as the one that came with your Go-cat Cat Catcher. The lesser ones will shred in days, while these hold up much better.

As always, the cats are nuts about them. They think they are real mice, will run about with them, growling a little, with a tail hanging out of their mouth. One of my boys actually managed to stuff two in his mouth at the same time.

We do use these in supervised play rather than leaving them scattered around, but it makes for a fun session with our giant kitties.

Our cat needs to play. She LIKES to hunt these on the Go Cat Catcher. But we’ve found that she actually LOVES to hunt these mice through the apartment, sliding on the linoleum floors, even more than when they’re on the Catcher.

We can toss them over her head and she’ll leap after it. And she’ll chase it down the hallway when it’s tossed that way. Sometimes she plays fetch. She entertains herself with these toys, too! They last a few weeks at a time, which is the only downside.

Great for energetic cats!.
