Bought as xmas gift for my 4yo. After the initial timidity of first learning to sit and pedal the bike she was ecstatic by xmas afternoon. Now we can’t spend enough time outside cruising the neighborhood.

The bike is sturdy; seems like really good quality and construction. Nice little add-ons like the bell and front tire hand brake; plus a handle on the seat for those moments when dad has to step in to help my little rider.

I would definitely recommend this bike to any parent looking to buy their child his or her first bike.

Very very pleased with this bike, my 9 year old son loves it and the way OutdoorToys. com packaged and sent the bike was really great too. Minimal assembly required, took my oldest son less than half hour to fit it up.

My 9 year old was on pedals with his previous bike, we bought this bike at Christmas and he is already riding this bike with no pedals and very confidently, the braking and overall structure of the bike is really good too, also the bike is not too heavy and very manageable for him, the seat height adjustment is very useful and good for him too.

My son wants to ride his bike every day now and he uses the bike for bike it club after school as well. My son has Autism and Adhd and I chose this bike because of the detailed description from OutdoorToys.

Adjustable handle bars and seat. LOVE the little got landing. My son is just under a year and a half and when we got this his tippy toes touched the floor on either side. No other bike adjusted enough for him to even come close to sitting.

The little foot landing is awesome, he can put his feet up while we push him around. SUPER worth the money. Will fit his size for a couple years I imagine. Tires can’t pop another plus. Just do yourself a favor and get one.

Or get one for your niece and nephew, or for a friends baby‘s birthday. Just get one.

Got for the 2 year old’s birthday. It’s perfect, great adjustability since he’s a bit tall. It seems like just the right amount of challenging and manageable for him at this age. He’s getting the hang of it quickly and LOVES riding it.

We live by the beach so he also loves taking it on the more packed sand and it still rides great. A bit concerned with the plastic rims but no sign that they’ll fail yet. Also wish they would have toddler/kid helmets to match every color (without the image of the dude on them, like… I don’t know that guy?? Lol) White with brown straps would be A+ for a kids color for the yellow with the brown seat.

All in all—VERY happy with the purchase and look forward to shopping again for the next phase of my sons bike riding.

Hey everyone, I am a professional bicycle mechanic and I have worked in the cycling industry for 15 years. I have owned and operated a small shop in North Carolina and worked at a major cycling manufacturers headquarters in Philadelphia.

I bought the ethos 20 for my 7 year old daughter. Two major points that really impressed me about the bike: 1. The geometry of the bike works well for a child’s size. This is the biggest issue with buying a department store bike for your child.

If you take one of the kids bikes from Walmart or Target and make it adult size and try and ride it you will realize how ridiculous and difficult to ride they really are. 2. Home assembly The bike arrived in the best possible set up for the average parent to feel comfortable assembling it.

Guardian is using a larger box than industry standard to make things easier for you. They are paying more for the assemblers at the factory to go the extra mile. This is definitely cutting into their profit margin.

I am impressed. It shows they understand the customer and the needs of the average parent. It is hard to pay a premium for a bike then pay a shop an assembly fee. The Ethos cuts out that step and saves you money.

My daughter loves her bike I will be buying another one for my son. Thanks you o everyone at Guardian for doing your due diligence and providing a nice addition to the cycling community. She went from nervous to confident in 1 day.

We decided to get our daughter her first big girls bike for Christmas 2020. So glad i found the Guardian bikes website as ordering was a breeze from finding the right size to fit her to placing an order and receiving delivery in less than a week.

For not so handy dad’s these are the easiest bike setup i have ever seen. It took less than 10 mins from start to finish as the bike is pretty much fully assembled apart from attaching the handle bars.

Event the tires are already pumped up so was a quick job on Christmas eve getting her present ready for the big day. Another great tip from Guardian bikes was not using training wheels to learn. We followed their simple instructions on just learning to balance first without pedals.

After only two days practice, she was riding on her own. It worked so well we even tried it with our younger daughter and she was up and riding in about the same time. Will never recommend training wheels again after this experience.

Our 5 year old had been riding a 16″ Liv bike for about a year but was having trouble progressing beyond the petal brakes and training wheels. We purchased the 20″ small Guardian bike and removed the petals.

After a few weeks of balancing we added the petals and she took off like a rocket! The handbrakes have given her such confidence when she rides. They really are a game changer. We loved it so much we bought the 14″ for our 3.

5 year old. She started on a cheap Walmart 12″ with training wheels but tipped over because of the short wheel base. After about a month on the Guardian without petals, we put them back on and she was riding on her own, first try! The 14″ Guardian was perfect while she was learning to balance but with petals it was a bit small.

So, I contacted Guardian and they sent us a 16″ as a replacement, free of charge, and asked that we donate the 14″. Guardian’s customer service is remarkable and their bikes are by far the best purchase we’ve made.

We get compliments on how gorgeous the bikes are all the time. We are so excited Guardian helped us get both of our girls riding without training wheels in time for summer. Thank you!.

We ride long distances often and alot. The Continental Ultra Sport II tires that I purchased in the past are still doing the job for us on our road bikes. They are priced right and so far have given good mileage.

Have approx. 3000 miles on them with no problems and expect the III’s to do the same. Very pleased with this purchase and highly recommend. FYI: You can pay more money for all the other bike tires but find the Ultra Sport’s to be of great value.

The best tires for us overall has been the Continental Gatorskins. They do cost more and so far are practically bulletproof. These Ultra Sports are looking like they will be a close 2nd.

It’s really too early to give a thorough evaluation of these tires, as I’ve only been able to ride about 90 miles in the 10 days I’ve had the tires. They feel and look look a good quality tire. My 2002 Giant TCR 1 came with 23C tires but I purchased these in 25C after verifying they’d fit.

I also installed them on a 2001 Cannondale R4000si and the rider noted improved riding comfort. For me, the ride with these tires was noticeably smoother, especially with the lower PSI required. I feel more confident riding on these tires considering the thicker rubber and improved traction compared to my older and worn Vredestein Fortezza SE.

My only complaint would be about a minor imperfection, that appears as a 1/4″ slice/crack, on the side wall of one of the four tires purchased. I have not heard back from Continental regarding whether it is a safety issue or not.

So far, I would purchase these tires again.

I usually buy Continental Gatorskins for their robust appeal, but I thought I’d try these Ultra Sport lll tyres for a change (and they’re much cheaper). They went on the rims with no hassle. To be fair, they have a good feel on the tarmac.

Puncture resistance is yet to be assessed as they get worn in. So far so good.

I ordered this as a holiday gift for my then 1. 5 year old. He is almost 2 now and has played with this bike so much. We keep it mostly inside because he plays with it so much. We also took it on a few camping trips this summer and he loved playing with it there too.

This bike is well made and has held up very nicely. Even my 8 year old son has a hard time staying off of it since it is inside and still no issues with it breaking or anything like that. We will be upgrading to the 2-3 year old balance bike soon and I am confident with making that purchase through this company as I know it will be a quality item.

The walker is maid well. The size is extra small. Much smaller than expected. My granddaughter is turning one and it’s too small for her. It is Not balance Friendly. The design is nice but it easily tips.

It needs to be taller at least so it 1 to 2 year old could ride it. Definitely is not for a baby learning to walk. The back is too short on the seat overall not that great giving it away thought about returning it but that’s a lot of trouble lesson learned.

I purchased this bike for my baby for her first birthday. She is very short, in the 1st percentile of length for her age. She has had quite a bit of hesitation when it comes to walking and also standing confidently on her own.

After playing on this bike for about a week, I have noticed a significant improvement in her balance. She enjoys riding on it and we enjoy watching her learn new skills. I am confident that this will help her in her journey to taking her first few steps!.

I rarely leave five stars. 3. 5 yo boy has out grown his strider 12″. Was gonna go with a 14″ wheel bike. After a bit of research and thinking about the strider 14x ($60 pedal kit), I found this bike.

The free wheel (no coaster), total weight and belt drive sold me. The boy can ride it for 2-3 years. I just put it together. Hardest part were the pedals (I didn’t want to cross thread them), Left is CCW, right was CW.

Looks great, feels solid. I also prematurely bought a strider 16 (but you can’t add a pedal kit), so pictured is the Belsize next to a Strider 16. Shipped superfast!.

Short Version: Super light weight and so smooth with the Grease-free, maintenance-free belt. Long Version: As beautiful as it is functional, it is a modern marvel of bicycle engineering in a pint-size package.

From its hand-brushed and lacquered aluminum frame to its belt drive, it leaves kids begging for more while their parents simply stare in awe. Fully loaded with 16″ air tires on aluminum rims, front and rear V-pull brakes (no coaster brake!) and a remarkable grease-free, maintenance-free belt drive, weighs in at about 13.

7 lbs. , about 10 lbs. less than most lower-end 16″ bikes. With a minimum seat height of 19″, is the perfect first pedal bike for any balance bike graduate. While the brushed aluminum frame steals the show, the belt drive is the icing on the cake.

In addition to being grease and maintenance-free, the belt essentially prevents any snags on clothing and, unlike a chain, will not stretch or easily slip off the gears. Another main draw is the lack of a coaster brake.

Required by the CPSC on all bikes with a minimum seat height of less than 16″, coaster brake often cause more harm than good for graduates of balance bikes who are accustom to hand brakes. While learning to pedal, many kids accidentally pedal backwards.

On a bike with a coaster brake, pedaling backwards causes the bike to stop abruptly, causes them to lose all their momentum, while a bike without a coaster brake is much more forgiving and keeps moving forward.

Instead of a coaster brake, it has two short-reach, front and rear, V-pull brakes. My 4yrs old is riding it an hr daily. I will continue to update this review. Update 5/18/20: I’ve a chance to compare it to a Woom 3.

The gear ratio on the Woom is very low. Kids can’t go fast on the Woom. The components on the Woom are much smaller and lower quality, the chain is noisy and always rubbing the guard, the guard is flimsy, thin, moving around as you ride, it’s not screwed to the frame, just sitting on the chain.

While 2lb lighter is great, until I realize where they cut corners and use cheap parts. All the parts on the Belsize are from brand names; Continental belt, Kenda tires, Tektro brakes. The Flat handlebar on the Belsize is probably too aggressive for kids under 5, it forces the kid to lean forward too much.

The good news is that it’s a 1″ standard size, and you can replace it for around $20. Kids sit a lot more upright on the Woom 3.

I ordered the Ethos as a Christmas gift for my 4 yr old. This was her first true two-wheel bike and she had never even practiced before. First, I missed the cut-off for guaranteed delivery in time for Christmas eve so I added a little note which they responded that the elves were hard at work.

The bike came early which was such a relief. the bike was super easy to put together out of the box and looked awesome! Best part was my daughter climbed on in the morning and started riding right away! The bike is set up especially for her size and experience.

She just looks right at home on it and super comfortable. Would definitely recommend to anyone and will keep coming back for more through the years. Oh, and the brakes were huge as she started getting used to using them.

She definitely would have bailed pretty hard a few times hitting the front brakes without them and would have set us back a few days. Thank you!!.

Our 3 year old son had a 12″ coaster brake bike that we bought used for $10. I thought it’d be a great way to teach him to ride pedals. He was whipping around on his balance bike, down the hills with feet up, but couldn’t get the hang of the 12″ with training wheels.

He kept dragging the training wheels and complaining about how hard it was to pedal up the hills, and didn’t understand the “pedal backwards to slow down” bit. So, I found Guardian Bikes online by chance.

I loved the idea of a single hand brake that operated both front and rear (much easier for a young kid to grasp – physically and mentally). Coaster brakes just aren’t ideal when you have hills to pedal up – losing momentum and balance up a hill, then trying to backpedal to regain balance instantly kills what little remaining momentum there was.

The overall build & quality of Guardian bikes looked worth the price as well. I was a bit worried that our son would be too short to reach the ground (he’s ~38″ tall), but I splurged on the 16″ Ethos regardless.

The bike arrived in 2 days. Setup was a cinch. Everything looked great. Our son went nuts when he saw it. He stepped over, onto the seat, and was just on his tip-toes. That didn’t bother him one bit! I explained how he needs to squeeze the black handle hard to stop, and not drag his feet.

After one test ride on the driveway, off to the road we went. With no fear, he went straight down the hill and said “can I go super fast now??”. Sure buddy! Just remember to squeeze hard to slow down! Mom made me chase after him in case it went south.

The only thing that went south was my weight from trying to keep up with him. He can now pedal (fast & hard) the entire loop around the neighborhood, down both cul-de-sacs and up the hills without a single whine (~3/4 mile)! The gear ratio is great, the brakes work awesome, he’s able to come to a stop and get his toes down to stop from falling over (without dragging his feet and ruining his shoes, like on his balance bike).

He struggled the first few rides to start on his own (without a slight push from me), but now knows to get one pedal nearly to the top, and pedal hard while walking forward with his other foot. Overall, the investment was well worth it.

The peace has returned to our walks, as he’s not whining and crying around the circle anymore. His little brother has taken over the balance bike, and the 16″ Ethos should work long enough for our 3yo until his 1yo brother is big enough to take it over, at which point we can step up to a larger frame.

He’s already put many miles on the Ethos, and I have no doubt it will last for years to come and provide endless enjoyment. Awesome purchase, would buy another in a heartbeat if needed!.

Love that my daughter didn’t have to use training wheels. Once she learned how to glide and balance the bike we put the pedals on and she got it on the first try. Her confidents is thru the roof and like I told her there are not a lot of 4 year olds that can ride a bike without training wheels.

Also Guardian Bikes has the BEST Customer service. We had some trouble with our bike in the beginning and they answered our email on a Sunday. They helped us fix the problem but they said if that didn’t fix it then they would send us a new bike.

Best Purchase Ever!!!!!.

This is our second RB bike for our granddaughter. They are great quality but the bike they sent was not the bike shown in the original ad. That being said, we decided to keep it bc it was cute and it was her birthday gift.

When we assembled the bike he post that holds the seat on was missing. Hopefully it will arrive soon. It’s very nice, she loves it and I would purchase it again.

We selected this bike for the chain guard (which covers the entire chain, not just the top), the disc brakes (more about that below), the cool styling of the bike and the fact it weights about 20% (or ~ 5 lbs) less then the same bike in steel.

My 4. 5 year old son is exactly 40 inches tall and the 16 inch bike fits him perfectly with the seat about 1 inch from the lowest position. ITEMS OF NOTE: The bike arrived in its original box undamaged.

It took only about 30 minutes to put together. The bike seems very well made with almost no welds as the frame appears to be cast alloy. Also, the bike came with TWO hand brakes, not the one front hand brake and rear coaster brake as described.

I much prefer disc brakes like these vs wheel clamp style brakes as the latter tends to fail when the wheel gets wet (my sister had a serious bike accident when she was a kid due to brake failure on a hill).

My only issue with the bike is that the nut and bolt for the kickstand were missing. I believe this is an error and I will have to see if I can get a suitable replacement at the local hardware store.

SAFETY! My son loves the ease of use of only having one break hand lever to control both the front and rear brakes – genius idea, he never has to worry about flipping over the front handle bars.

The gears are also relatively easy to shift all the way through for him. Bike is light and easy for him to maneuver. 4. Awesome colors – he gets complimented on the look of his bike from both kids and adults alike.

Especially the blue rims! 5. Quick delivery! The bike arrived within days of ordering and arrived safely with no scratches. Price seems very reasonable based on the quality. Thank you Guardian Bikes! Hopefully you can build larger bikes as the kids grow into their teen/adult years!.

Wanted to love this bike, but for the price it simply has not lasted. In less than a year there was already rust and paint chipping on the bike. It was always kept under shelter and indoors in the winter, so a little puzzled about this as many of our other much cheaper bikes have not had this issue.

It seems like a flaw in the paint/finish. In a little over a year my son started having issues with the gears skipping and one gear simply not working. One of his tires also completely wore through. Granted, he is hard on the tires, so will take some of the blame for that.

For his next bike we will be looking elsewhere. I was hoping this bike would last though a couple of kids and considered it an investment. Even with a new tire, with the paint chipping it and other issues, sadly it has not held up well.

We’ve had other brand name bikes that have fared much better over the years.

I probably reached out a dozen times either by phone or email checking on shipping, changing shipping address, and sending thanks and video of their first rides.

Each time there was a personal response almost immediately. It seems this is more of a passion for the workers vs a job. I appreciated that as it made me feel they care about the kids getting these bikes.

It’s not just sale. My first Guardian purchase was a 20 inch Ethos for my niece’s birthday in June. I ordered the second bike (as a surprise to my nephew) the second I saw his jaw drop as he watched my niece take her first ride on her Guardian.

He now sports the 24 inch black and red Ethos. Both kids first and foremost love the looks of these bikes, and they both continually comment on the gears and breaks. We were nervous about gears for a small six year old, but she LOVES them and works them like a champ.

They also can’t get over how smooth and fast the bikes stop. My sister put both bikes together and was pleased at the speed and ease they went together. I’d order every kid in the neighborhood one if I could.

I purchased the Belter 14 for my 5yo son who up until recently, refused to give up his Strider ballance bike for a bicycle I had hastily purchased previously. Every time he had tried to get on that thing, it looked like he had to break a sweat to get it moving, and it felt like in his hands, it weighted like a ton (he is smaller than your average 5yo).

The day it arrived, during unboxing, my son wouldn’t stop exclaiming over the sleek, minimal and elegant design. I was pretty excited about that too. “Money well spent” and “what an awesome piece of hardware” I kept thinking.

The belt drive and the craftmanship of the entire transfer seemed impressively light. The Belter 14 is a bike insanely well designed and put together. I had already thought ahead and had bought a push bar to attach so that I can help him with his riding.

3rd time we got out of the house, it was already removed. He is now doing 14-15km/h on that thing and he hasn’t ridden it that much yet. As a parent, I love the Belter 14 for the following reasons: – breaking handles are carefully thought of around a kid’s hand.

My son can effortlessly ride while his fingers are ready to pull the breaks. – it is insanely lightweight. Super easy for him to manage, lift and maneuver. Light as a feather for me to carry around. – it rides smooth, with effortless pedaling.

– the high end parts used (my local shop owner saw it and couldn’t hide his excitement, especially on the belt drive) – it makes me feel like a great dad, making sure that my kid has a bike that he loves and rides proud.

Awesome little bike! Very well set up in the box – belt tensioned perfectly, brakes perfectly balanced etc. Took no time at all to put what little you have to put together to get it ready to ride. Only thing I would say is that given it’s likely to be bought for smaller kids who will grow with it, perhaps put the spacers above the stem so it can be raised in the future but also completely get that to some extent it’s personal preference and hardly difficult to do.

Took less than an hour before my little one was off peddling down the garden after a few runs with just one foot on a pedal and the other stuck out motocross style! Only thing I’ve swapped out is the seat clamp for a quick release (£7 off a popular internet bike site) but no real reason to other than to make the transition from scooting to having to pedal a bit quicker.

It’s not cheap, no getting around that, but the build quality is excellent, the customer service is excellent and in a market where prices keep going up, it’ll hold its value really well too once he’s grown on to the next size up!.

I considered a few bikes from different manufacturers before settling on the Belter 16 for my daughter. The spec of the bike is very good and having the belt drive is a bike attraction given the age of my daughter and also having a younger child in the house, so no filthy hands! The bike arrived in a sturdy box and assembly was quick and easy.

The quality of the bike is excellent, and the clear lacquer on the bare metal frame means Early Rider could not hide any quality issues under paint, but they don’t need to as it is made to a very high standard.

My daughter has got on brilliantly with the bike and loves how it looks. I am very happy with the purchase, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this bike to anyone considering it. Compared to some of the competition, the bike compares very favourably in spec and price!.
